Israel said to be budgeting billions for Iran strike-Military chiefs reportedly say they were given top-level orders to keep prepared for action despite nuclear talks-By Stuart Winer March 20, 2014, 1:49 pm 0-The Times Of Israel
Israel is still preparing for a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, including a specific military budget running to NIS 10 billion ($2.89 billion), despite the developments in talks between world powers and Tehran.Details of the budgeting came to light during Knesset joint committee sessions on IDF plans that were held in January, Haaretz reported on Thursday.Three MKs, who were present during the hearings but asked to remain anonymous, said that the funding was to cover preparations throughout 2014 and was similar in size to the Iran strike budget for 2013, the report said.According to the report, some of the legislators present at the sessions grilled Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, and Brig. Gen. Agai Yehezkel of the IDF’s Planning Directorate, about the necessity of a strike plan despite talks between world powers and Iran. Those talks led to an initial agreement in November 2013 for Tehran to scale back its nuclear program, and are still ongoing. The IDF officials responded that they had received instructions from the highest levels of government, apparently Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, to continue with preparations for a strike, the report said.Haaraetz noted that both the Prime Minister’s Office and the IDF’s Spokesperson declined to comment on the report.Last week Ya’alon hinted at a change in his stance from opposing to supporting solo action by Israel on Iran’s nuclear program.“The one who should lead the campaign against Iran is the US,” he said, but instead, “the US at a certain stage began negotiating with them, and unfortunately in the Persian bazaar the Iranians were better,” he said. Therefore, “we (Israelis) have to look out for ourselves.”Two days of talks between world powers and Iran came to an end on Wednesday with what EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton described as “substantive and useful discussions covering a set of issues including (uranium) enrichment, the Arak reactor, civil nuclear cooperation and sanctions.” The parties agreed to reconvene April 7-9.However, Russia has warned that tensions with the US over the Crimea crisis could lead to it altering its position regarding Iran to erode the unified front that Western countries have presented against Tehran. The US and Europe have been strongly critical of Russian actions to annex Crimea following a revolution in Ukraine last month.
Israel can operate in Iran if it needs to, IDF chief says-Gantz says Israel conducts ‘secret activities near and far,’ adds Iran is ‘not beyond the army’s reach’-By Adiv Sterman March 19, 2014, 9:21 pm 17-The Times of Israel
Israel’s security forces have the capability to carry out military operations in virtually every part of the globe, including Iran, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said Wednesday, adding that Israel had already conducted dozens of covert operations in foreign and enemy countries.“Last week, the navy returned from a distant operation,” said Gantz, during a discussion with high school students, referring to the interception off the coast of Sudan of an alleged Iranian arm shipment aboard the Klos-C cargo vessel, later towed to Israel. “Our Air Force is wherever we want it to be,” he continued.“I did not even mention the dozens of secret activities, some of which took place last week, and [some] just as we speak,” he said. ”I am talking about close range operations and long-range ones — Iran, and so on. These are not areas that are beyond the IDF’s reach.”The remarks were recorded and broadcast by Israel’s Channel 10 News. The TV report asserted that Gantz’s comments represented a first “definitive” acknowledgment that Israel is capable of military intervention in Iran and constituted a hint from the chief of General Staff that this kind of activity was already happening. The station’s military correspondent added that “thousands of people” are involved daily in operations — mainly involving intelligence-gathering, but also involving elite army units — aimed at preventing Israel’s enemies from arming, putting them on the defensive, preventing attacks, and notably “preventing Iran from gaining nuclear capabilities.”Gantz, in the broadcast remarks, also referred to Israel’s reprisal strikes on Syrian targets after four soldiers were injured in a bomb attack at the Golan Border on Tuesday, and said he was heading back to the Golan after the discussion, at a school in Gan Yavneh. He also went on to assert that the IDF would have to reoccupy the Gaza Strip if Israel wanted to halt all rocket fire from the Hamas-run territory. ”If we want no [rocket fire] to come out of there, or close to none for there’s no such thing as none, then you have to invade Gaza,” Gantz said. ”It’s a dilemma we deal with every week; we have the ability to do so… That requires a strategic decision.”Last week, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, in response to a major rocket bombardment of southern Israel, said the IDF should reoccupy the Gaza Strip so that the Israeli government could effectively defend its citizens, even if it jeopardized peace talks with the Palestinians.Times of Israel Staff contributed to this report

Muslim Rioters Attack MK Feiglin on Temple Mount-MK slams authorities for 'weakness' after police respond to rioting by Muslims by banning Jews from holy site.By David Lev-First Publish: 3/20/2014, 10:39 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Two Arab rioters were arrested Thursday for attempting to attack MK Moshe Feiglin (Likud Beteinu) as he visited the Temple Mount. Hundreds of rioters threw stones at Feiglin and several individuals who accompanied him. Feiglin was forced to leave the site, and police took steps to break up the riot.As a result of the riot, the Temple Mount was closed Thursday morning to Jews and to tourists.
Feiglin has been a strong advocate of Jews' asserting their rights to pray on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. Last month, Feiglin initiated a Knesset debate on freedom of religion and Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount. Although Jews are technically allowed to visit the Temple Mount, the decision on whether or not they will be admitted is generally in the hands of the Waqf, the Muslim religious trust that controls access to the site. Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount is illegal.During the Knesset debate, Feiglin attacked the discriminatory management of the holy site, which is under the de facto rule of the Waqf. Jews are often forbidden from entering and arrested for having religious or national symbols. Behind the back of the people we have given up on any Israeli sovereignty on the Mount,” remarked Feiglin. “Any terror organization can wave its flag there -- the flag of Israel? Don't mention it even. And a verse of Psalms is pretext for an arrest. The police even recommend taking the kippah off your head.”After being forced to leave the site Thursday, Feiglin said that “the incidents today show more than ever that the Temple Mount is such a powderkeg specifically because it is clear to the Palestinians that violence pays off. Israeli weakness encourages this violence.”Police, Feiglin said, did an admirable job of protecting the Jews and tourists caught up in the riot and putting down the riot. “But cutting our visit short and clearing the Mount of Jews on the one hand while allowing the rioters to remain on the other left the victory in the hands of those who initiated the violence, and will only encourage more violence.”On Sunday, Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) was also forced to leave the Temple Mount after rioters threw stones at him. Then, too, police cleared the Mount of non-Muslims.“A reality in which rioters determine the day's agenda on the Temple Mount, and prevent Jewish visitors from ascending [to the Mount], is unacceptable," Ariel stated after the visit. "I went up to the Mount this morning, I intend to keep on doing so in the future, and I demand that security forces help keep Jewish sovereignty intact and allow any Jew to ascend to the Mount freely."The Temple Mount is Judaism's most sacred spot. Israeli police, in an attempt to appease the Muslim Waqf which was left in charge of the Temple Mount compound after the 1967 Six Day War, ban Jews from praying or performing any other form of worship.Police sometimes close the Mount to Jews altogether in response to Muslim riots - for days or weeks at a time - despite evidence that such violence is usually planned in advance for the specific purpose of forcing Jews out.
Activist: Everyone Knows Releasing Terrorists Won't Bring Peace-If releasing terrorists will bring peace, then that is what must be done, said Dr. Aryeh Bachrach of Almagor. But everyone knows it won't.By David Lev-First Publish: 3/20/2014, 1:33 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
In an interview with Arutz Sheva Thursday, Dr. Aryeh Bachrach, whose son was killed in a terror attack in 1995, sent a plea to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu: Do not release more Arab terrorists at the end of the month, as the Palestinian Authority is demanding, and as Netanyahu committed to do last year. This will be the fourth time Israel is set to release terrorists in the latest “round” of releases, which began last year. Israel committed to releasing over 100 terrorists, many responsible for the deaths of multiple Israelis, as a “gesture” to tempt PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to restart talks with Israel after a three year hiatus. So far, Israel has released more than 75 terrorists, and another 26 are set to be released within a few weeks.Over the years, said Bachrach, head of the Almagor Bereaved Parents' Forum, precious little attention has been paid to the feelings of parents who have lost children to terrorist attacks. It's time for that to change, he said.“My message to the Prime Minister is that if, sir, you are convinced that releasing terrorists will bring true peace, then it certainly should be done. Obviously you must act in accordance with what is best for all Israelis. In such a case you must ignore the feelings of people like me.“But you know as well as I do, as 99% of the people I come into contact with from all political points of view, that the only thing releasing terrorists will do is provide you with another opportunity to sit at the same table with the Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas,” said Bachrach. “We are paying with precious Jewish blood for this 'opportunity.' I call on you to prevent another travesty of releasing terrorists,” he said.Bachrach's son Ohad, along with friend Ori Shahor, were killed in 1995 when they were hiking in Wadi Qelt east of Jerusalem. The PLO's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine faction claimed responsibility for the murders. Bachrach, of Beit El, was 18 when he was killed, and Shahor, of Ra'anana, was 20.On Wednesday, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon's declared that he would resign his post if the government went ahead with yet another round of releasing terrorists. The only reason talks with the Palestinian Authority were still going on, Danon said, was so that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas could secure the release of another group of terrorists, one of the “gestures” Israel made last year to encourage Abbas to restart the talks after a three year hiatus. “I will not sit in a government that releases terrorists in exchange for Tzipi Livni's fantasies,” Danon said Wednesday. “There is a limit to how much we can pay like suckers, in return for the smiles of (Tzipi) Livni and (Chief PA negotiator Saeb) Erekat.”In response, said sources close to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Danon can expect to lose his job if he actively tries to oppose the release. Responding to Danon’s threats, sources close to Netanyahu told Channel 2 News that “enough was enough.”“We're tired of his cheap politics,” the sources said, adding, “You do not threaten the prime minister. Danon is threatening to resign because he has already received information about the letter of dismissal that the prime minister is preparing for him."Danon's associates, unfazed by Netanyahu’s threats, said in response, "This is not the first time that we have been threatened with dismissal over the past year.”

As border heats up, reservists train for Syria scenarios-Training exercise takes Yiftah Brigade across Golan, preparing for range of hypothetical threats soldiers could face-By Lazar Berman March 20, 2014, 11:50 am 0-The Times of Israel
As the Syria-Israel border heated up in the wake of Tuesday’s attack on an IDF patrol and Israeli retaliatory strikes on regime army positions, IDF reservists trained this week for scenarios they might face in a hypothetical operation in Syria.Though the Yiftah Brigade’s exercises were not tied specifically to this week’s events, the growing uncertainty in the border area adds urgency to grueling training to prepare for combat against jihadist groups, Hezbollah, and the Syrian army.According to the Ynet news site, the brigade, part of the new Bashan Division based on the Golan Heights, trained on Hummers designed to mimic tanks after doing an exercise in their Merkava 3 tanks seven months ago in the Negev training base Tze’elim. The exercise this week started just north of the Sea of Galilee, where the reservists gathered at their unit’s logistical headquarters, operating as if they were under a Syrian missile attack. From there, they climbed the Golan Heights, and “fought” their way all the way across the plateau to Mount Hermon.Brigade Commander Amir Hamud said that his soldiers needed to prepare for a variety of scenarios.“It could be two jihadi terrorists with a Kalatchnikov, or rebel para-military militias, or Hezbollah guerrilla cells, or Syrian armored divisions. Our operational plan is updated according to changes in the theater. The goal is that the forces will be ready for everything they are accustomed to from other theaters.”An IDF Merkava tank fires during drills in the Golan Heights in 2008. On Tuesday, a bomb was detonated against an Israeli patrol near the Israeli-Syrian border, wounding four IDF soldiers riding in a jeep. Early Wednesday morning the Israeli Air Force carried out several air strikes on Syrian military positions in the Golan Heights. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes had targeted units involved in Tuesday’s attack.“Our policy is very clear,” Netanyahu said. “We attack those who attack us.”Syrian officials said the attacks killed one soldier and injured seven. They warned that such actions by Israel would “endanger the security and stability of the region..IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said the army would have to adapt to changing financial constraints. “Because of budgetary cuts,” he said, “we will have to change the way we maintain our skills and our readiness in the reserves. It is important you know that, going forward, despite the difficulties in the budget, we will maintain our skills.”
Terror scare at the Israeli Embassy in India-Suspicious looking man with package reportedly runs off when approached by police, who detain him with help of embassy guards-By Times of Israel staff March 20, 2014, 5:59 am 3-The Times of Israel
Just over two years after an Israeli Embassy worker was injured in a terror attack in New Delhi, officials were reportedly rattled Wednesday afternoon when a 35-year-old man was seen suspiciously lingering around the diplomatic mission with a package in his hands.Police responded to a call from the embassy that a suspicious man had attempted to trespass onto their premises, according to The Times of India. When police approached the man, he began to run and was chased down by officers and embassy guards.Sappers and dog units arrived on the scene to dismantle the package, which turned out to contain a Ganesha idol, according to the report. The suspect, identified only as Momin from the northern Indian state of Haryana, was reportedly injured in the chase. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but remains under detention pending further questioning. The incident came hours after a letter was received threatening to blow up the city’s Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India. Law enforcement could not confirm if the two incidents were related, but The Times of India reported that Indian intelligence agencies had joined the probe and were waiting to interrogate Momin. In February of 2012, Tal Yehoshua Koren, the wife of an Israeli security attache and an embassy worker, was injured when an assailant on a motorcycle affixed explosives to the back of her car and sped off as they detonated.Documents obtained by The Times of India in July of that year showed that Indian police believed Iran’s Revolutionary Guards were behind the attack.

ISAIAH 17:1,11-14
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations,(USELESS U.N) that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.
14 And behold at evening tide trouble; and before the morning he is not.(ASSAD KILLED IN OVERNIGHT RAID) This is the portion of them that spoil us,(ISRAEL) and the lot of them that rob us.

24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
