Pakistan (AP) — A key train service with neighboring India resumed and
schools in Pakistani Kashmir opened Monday in another sign of easing
tensions between the two nuclear-armed rivals since a major escalation
last week over the disputed Kashmir region.Pakistan Railways spokesman
Ejaz Shah said the train service, known as the Samjhauta Express, left
the eastern city of Lahore for India's border town of Atari, with some
180 passengers on board.Pakistan suspended the train service last week
as tensions escalated following India's airstrike on Tuesday inside
Pakistan. India said it targeted militants behind a Feb. 14 suicide
bombing in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 40 Indian
troops.Pakistan retaliated, shooting down a fighter jet the next day and
detaining its pilot, who was returned to India two days later.Also
Monday, schools in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir opened after seven days
of closure amid the heightened tensions.Raja Jaleel, head teacher at a
secondary school in Chakothi, which is close to the Line of Control
border in the disputed region, said classes resumed but attendance was
thin.He lauded the courage of the students who attended, as many of the
area's parents are keeping their children home for their safety."We have

that the students also chanted slogans in support of the army.Schools
were closed when Indian and Pakistani troops were trading fire across

killed in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir since tensions soared following

in the crossfire for the second consecutive day suggests that the two
nuclear-armed rivals have heeded international calls to exercise
restraint. But Pakistan hasn't yet opened its airspace for flights to or
from the east.Senior civil aviation official Aamir Mahboob said that
there was "no change yet in our aviation policy toward east but the west
corridor is open for all flights."After the suicide bombing on Feb 14
in the Pulwama district of Indian-controlled Kashmir, Indian jets
crossed into Pakistani Kashmir and then into the Balakot section of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where they dropped bombs. India claimed its
jets struck the militants behind the Pulwama attack. Pakistan denied
that any such militant base existed in the area or that was hit by jets.
Next day Pakistan shot down two Indian jets and detained a pilot who
landed on the Pakistani side. He was handed back to India in a gesture
of peace two days later.Kashmir has been divided between India and
Pakistan since their independence from British rule in 1947. Both
countries claim the territory in its entirety and have fought two of
their three wars over it. The rivals struck a cease-fire deal in 2003

airport, from where they would fly to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, said a

Palestinian security official at Rafah, without providing the
reasons.Security sources on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing
confirmed it was the first such permission for the Muslim umrah

Sinai in 2014.Umrah is the lesser pilgrimage to Mecca that can be
completed throughout the year, as opposed to the annual hajj
pilgrimage.Around 2,500 pilgrims are authorized annually to leave Gaza
via Egypt for the hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam that Muslims
must undertake at least once in their lifetime.Since the overthrow of
Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013, Egypt has faced a jihadist
insurgency in North Sinai.Last year, Egypt’s military launched a major

Khamenei's address in mid-2018 appeared to forecast European
difficulties in honoring pledges to protect trade with Iran from new
U.S. sanctions after Washington's repudiation of world powers' 2015
nuclear deal with Tehran.The publication of Khamenei's speech eight
months after the fact showed that while President Hassan Rouhani was
trying to save the nuclear deal with European powers, who remained
committed despite the U.S. exit, Khamenei was not optimistic.The

official website.He said the nuclear deal did not resolve “any of the

surrendered after a ferocious battle over their last shred of territory
in eastern Syria, but an unknown number of militants are still holding
out, a military source in a U.S.-backed Syrian force said on Monday.The
jihadist group faces defeat in Baghouz on the banks of the Euphrates,
but it still holds pockets of land in remote areas further west and has
launched guerrilla attacks in other areas where it has lost
control.Baghouz, a collection of hamlets and farmland near the border
with Iraq, is the last patch of populated territory Islamic State (IS)
still holds in the area straddling the two countries where it declared a
caliphate in 2014.The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said earlier on
Monday they had slowed their assault because more civilians, previously
thought to have completely evacuated, were trapped in the enclave, but
they vowed to capture it soon.A convoy of trucks was seen heading into
Baghouz in the morning, and the SDF military source said 150 jihadists
had left along with about 350 civilians, confirming an earlier Syrian
Observatory for Human Rights report on the surrenders.An unknown number
of jihadists remained inside, the source said.The fighters hail from a
number of countries including Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, said an SDF

(AP) — The German government plans to introduce legislation that will
enable authorities to strip Germans with dual nationality of their
German citizenship if they fight for a terror group abroad, officials
said Monday.The new rule will apply to people over 18 and, for reasons
of constitutional law, only to future cases, Interior Ministry
spokeswoman Eleonore Petermann said.The move comes as Germany and other
European countries consider what to do about citizens who fought for the
Islamic State group and were captured in Syria. But the fact that the
legislation can't be applied retroactively means the proposal is
unlikely to ease the German government's dilemma on how to handle former
jihadi fighters, amid worries about whether they pose a security risk
and whether prosecutors can build cases against them.The government
hopes the legislation will have a "preventive effect" and discourage
citizens from joining terror groups. Officials said the legislation will
be drawn up soon but didn't offer a precise timetable.German law
already allows for people with dual citizenship to be stripped of their
German nationality if they volunteer for their other country's armed
forces without the consent of German authorities.Other countries have
made similar moves. Neighboring France has had a process since the 1990s
for stripping French citizenship from dual nationals who carry out acts
of terrorism, though it has rarely been used.Germany's governing
coalition pledged when it took office a year ago to come up with tougher

someone who has Down syndrome, drawing a sharp rebuke from the American
ambassador to Israel.The column by Omar Hilmi Al-Ghoul, which appeared
in Sunday’s edition of Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, railed against the White
House’s yet-to-be-published plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace and the
Trump administration officials behind it, among them Jason
Greenblatt.“Anyone who follows the prattle of Jason Greenblatt… sees
that his condition is very similar to Down syndrome,” al-Ghoul wrote,
according to a translation of the article by Palestinian Media
Watch.“Anyone who looks at the American envoy [Greenblatt] discovers
that he has external and inner characteristics similar to those
suffering from Down syndrome: He is short, his eyes are similar to
Mongoloid eyes, he prattles unrestrainedly, and is politically

Greeenblatt who appeared to suffer from Down syndrome but the entire
Trump administration, calling it a “politically crippled creature.” He

would fail, due to PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s opposition.“They should

son-in-law, visited the Middle East to discuss the White House’s peace
plan, which is set to be released soon after general elections in Israel
on April 9.The PA has been boycotting the Trump administration since
its 2017 recognition of Israel’s capital and top Palestinian officials
have vowed to reject the proposal.Greeenblatt has previously drawn the
ire of PA officials over his involvement in US peace efforts and
