CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State warned in a new video on Monday that countries taking part in air strikes against Syria would suffer the same fate as France, and threatened to attack in Washington.The video, which appeared on a website used by Islamic State to post its messages, begins with news footage of the aftermath of Friday's Paris shootings in which at least 129 people were killed.The message to countries involved in what it called the "crusader campaign" was delivered by a man dressed in fatigues and a turban, and identified in subtitles as Al Ghareeb the Algerian."We say to the states that take part in the crusader campaign that, by God, you will have a day, God willing, like France's and by God, as we struck France in the center of its abode in Paris, then we swear that we will strike America at its center in Washington," the man said.It was not immediately possible to verify the authenticity of the video, which purports to be the work of Islamic State fighters in the Iraqi province of Salahuddine, north of Baghdad.The U.S. Department of Homeland Security would not comment on the video but said it has not received information indicating a potential attack."While we take all threats seriously, we do not have specific credible information of an attack on the U.S. homeland," a DHS official said on condition of anonymity.The French government has called the Paris attacks an act of war and said it would not end its air strikes against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. As Friday's deadly terror attacks in Paris unfolded, Muslims around the world reacted in horror — and braced for threats, harassment and violence at home.On Saturday night, a fire broke out at a mosque in Ontario. No one was in it at the time, and despite the fact that fire officials there ruled the blaze an act of arson, the president of the local Muslim association believes it was “clearly a hate crime.”Earlier in the day, a mosque in St. Petersburg, Fla., reported it received a voicemail that threatened to "firebomb you and shoot whoever is there in the head."“I don’t care if they are f***ing 2 years old or 100,” the caller said. “I am over your f***ing bull**** and our whole country is.”A similar threat was made to another Florida mosque, and the caller spoke of “shooting people at will.”The FBI said it is investigating the incidents, and St. Petersburg police have increased patrols in the area around the mosque.“When I first heard the voicemail, I was in shock,” Hatem Jaber, a volunteer at the St. Petersburg mosque, told a local television station.Perhaps he shouldn’t have been.In the weeks following the deadly attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine, France’s National Observatory Against Islamophobia saw a 281 percent increase in anti-Muslim incidents compared to the previous year.“When this horrific thing happened on Friday, all the Muslims I know went through the same thing,” Ronald Abdul Rahim Hubbs told the International Business Times. “You first have the emotions of, ‘Oh my God, that’s terrible.’ The second feeling that comes up is, ‘Here we go again.’”In Portland, Ore., a handful of protesters showed up outside Hubbs’ mosque, chanting anti-Muslim slurs at worshippers as they arrived for Sunday prayer.“Your Quran is the doctrine of demons! Paris, 15. Nov, 00:50-Boulevard Voltaire is one of Paris' main avenues. It symbolically goes from the Place de la Republique to Place de la Nation. On 11 January, thousands of people walked down the boulevard, silently protesting against the killings at Charlie Hebdo magazine and in a Jewish supermarket a few days earlier. On their way, they passed the chinoiserie-style facade of the Bataclan theatre, a popular concert venue. In the days after the attacks, many of them bought Voltaire's Treaties on Tolerance, which topped book sales.This Saturday (14 November), the boulevard Voltaire is closed 500m down from Place de la Republique, and police vehicles can be seen in the distance, in front of the Bataclan.The night before, at least 80 died in the theatre and many were seriously injured when four gunmen burst into a rock concert and shot at the 1,500-strong crowd with automatic weapons.In three other places in the French capital, close to the Bataclan, other gunmen shot 36 people sitting in restaurants and bars.Earlier, three bombs exploded outside the Stade de France where France was playing against Germany in front of 80,000 people. One person was killed, as well as three suicide bombers.At least 352 people were injured in the attacks, including 99 considered to be "absolute emergencies.”-'We have to stay strong'-On the boulevard Voltaire and in neighbouring streets, people gather next to the safety barriers and look into the distance, where the massacre can barely be conceived.Some put flowers at the foot of barriers, others take pictures, few talk. They were against their collective values.Friday's attacks were against entertainment and spending time with friends. Against living a normal life.Many feel that, contrary to January's victims, when journalists and Jews were mainly targeted, Friday's victims were every kind of Parisian."They could have been any of us. They died simply because they went for a drink, for music, or to meet friends. This is pure terror," says Vincent, a student who came to pay respects to the victims. "More than 120 children of the Republic have died. But we are 65 million and we will stand," he says.-After Charlie-About 3 million people marched to defend the Republic and its values after the January killings.But 10 months later, the country endures its worst loss of life since the Second World War. First investigations indicate it was perpetrated mainly by French jihadists.Around 1,600 of them went to Syria and Iraq, feeding concerns over a widespread radicalisation among young people, including girls, of immigrant background.Despite calls for dialogue and integration from all sides, Islam and immigration remain controversial issues in France. Public debate is led by figures whom critics describe as rightists and as xenophobic.Far-right leader Marine Le Pen did not suffer from refusing to join the national consensus after the January attacks, and she benefits from the inner tensions in French society.She is very likely to be in the second round of the next presidential election in 2017. Nov, 22:32-The attackers in Paris and Middle East refugees should not be mixed up, warned EU Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker on Sunday (15 November).He also called on member states not to reject people who are fleeing from the same terror that shocked the French capital on Friday night."We should not mix the different categories of people coming to Europe," Juncker told a news conference in Antalya, Turkey, where a G20 summit of world leaders is taking place.“Those who organised these attacks and those that perpetrated them are exactly those that the refugees are fleeing and not the opposite,” he said.“The one responsible for the attacks in Paris ... he is a criminal and not a refugee and not an asylum seeker,” Juncker added, saying there is no reason for Europe to change its refugee policy.The attacks late on Friday which killed 129 people reinforced concerns of some Europeans about taking in Muslim refugees fleeing war and poverty from mostly Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.According to media reports, one of the terrorists had entered the EU via Greece with a Syrian passport. This was confirmed by Greek authorities, but other reports said the passport was fake.The events are already fuelling EU debate on how to handle the massive arrivals of migrants and refugees.In the wake of the attacks, Poland's new Europe minister, Konrad Szymanski said Saturday that his government did not agree with Poland's earlier commitment to accept its share of an EU-wide relocation of refugees, and now, “in the face of the tragic acts in Paris, we do not see the political possibilities to implement [this].”Slovak prime minister Robert Fico, whose country is to challenge the refugees relocation plan in court, said Saturday: “We have been saying that there are enormous security risks linked to migration. Slovakia rejected the plan.However, Juncker warned that EU leaders should not jump to conclusions, and said there is no need to change the bloc’s plan to relocate 160,000 refugees from Italy and Greece - the countries where most people enter the EU - to other member states."I would invite those in Europe who try to change the migration agenda we adopted. Nov, 22:24-It took just a day for Parisians to transform the shock and bafflement of Friday's (13 November) terror attacks into a quiet show of resilience and determination.On Sunday, despite a prohibition to gather in large numbers under the state of emergency declared on Saturday, thousands of people walked again through Paris streets, which had been almost deserted the day before.People of all ages, styles and ethnic origins went to the places where gunmen killed 129 people and injured 352 in separate attacks on restaurants, bars, a concert hall, and next to the Stade de France.They were the same mix of people who marched on 11 January after the Charlie Hebdo and Hypercasher killings.The people of Paris were also back in the metro, parks, and on the terraces of bars and cafes."There is no demonstration but people need to be together," Sylvie, a university professor, told EUobserver next to the Bataclan, where 89 people were killed at a rock concert."It is our city. We need to be there.""It is insane, but we must continue to live,” said Christine, who came with her daughter, who lives nearby.A few streets away, in front of a restaurant on the Rue de Charonne, where 19 people were killed, Dominique, a man in his 50s, said he "came here today because I need to share my sorrow. I need to see faces."He had stayed at home on Saturday, still in shock after Friday night's events.-Nerves-"In January, the shock was immediate," he said. "The people at Charlie Hebdo were well known, it was striking.""This time the shock came later, because it was anonymous.
