Game of EU thrones nears finale-AFP-By Danny Kemp-aug 31,14-yahoonews

Brussels (AFP) - The EU's "game of thrones" is nearing an end after the naming of a new president and diplomatic chief, with the rest of the incoming Brussels regime set to be decided in coming weeks.Jean-Claude Juncker, the head of the EU's executive body, will unveil his new team in early September, aiming to strike a delicate balance of politics, geography and gender. The two top roles were filled on Saturday when Polish premier Donald Tusk was appointed president of the European Council -- which brings together the leaders of the 28 EU states -- and Italian Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini was named head of the foreign affairs service. But with key economic jobs up for grabs in a team that will dictate European policy for the next five years, member states are still battling behind the scenes for a bite of the cherry. And the EU is almost as in thrall to historical rivalries and power struggles as the fantasy world of cult US television show "Game of Thrones".Next week, Juncker will meet each country's nominee as he finalises his team for the European Commission. Belgium has yet to name a candidate as it is locked in negotiations to form a coalition government. But other countries are ahead of the game.France looks set to win the prized economic affairs job for its former finance minister Pierre Moscovici.German Chancellor Angela Merkel dropped her opposition to Moscovici despite Berlin's struggles to get Paris to keep to budgetary rules, German weekly Der Spiegel reported.Bulgaria staked its claim on Sunday for its outgoing humanitarian affairs commissioner Kristalina Georgieva to win one of the other key posts after she lost out to Italy's Mogherini for the foreign affairs brief.Meanwhile, Britain's hopes of a major economic post were boosted after Tusk on Saturday pledged to work to keep it from leaving the EU, after a planned referendum in 2017.Prime Minister David Cameron's opposition to the appointment of the federalist Juncker, combined with the low profile of British nominee Jonathan Hill, had previously been thought to have killed off any chances of a plum job, but the Sunday Times newspaper reported that Hill could now get the financial services portfolio.

- Regional rivalries -

Juncker is then expected to name his team on September 9 or 10, according to EU officials. But the choices are fraught with pitfalls.Regional rivalries have mostly been dealt with, as Tusk's appointment will please newer eastern members and Juncker, the former prime minister of Luxembourg, will see that smaller countries are represented. But politically, Europe's centre-left will want more important portfolios after winning only one of the top three jobs in the form of Italy's Mogherini.Gender is also a problem, with member states so far ignoring Juncker's call to nominate more women, and Juncker saying he may compensate by giving more major portfolios to women. The next hurdle comes in September and October when the European Parliament grills the candidates. It may try to flex its muscles by knocking back controversial nominees. Finally, on October 20-23 parliament will vote on the whole line-up. Socialists have threatened to veto any commission with less than the nine women in the current set-up.The new commission takes office on November 1, while Tusk succeeds current European Council president Herman Van Rompuy a month later. The last piece of the puzzle falls into place in mid-2015 with the naming of the head of the Eurogroup, the club of finance ministers from the 18 nations that use the euro -- which is Juncker's old job.Spain's Luis de Guindos, a conservative backed by Berlin, is expected to take over from social-democrat Jeroen Dijsselbloem of the Netherlands. But Dutch premier Mark Rutte has suggested Dijsselbloem may try for another term, setting up another battle.

EU leaders pick Tusk, Mogherini for top posts-30.08.14 @ 21:43-euobserver-By Valentina Pop

BRUSSELS - EU leaders on Saturday (30 August) agreed to appoint Polish PM Donald Tusk as the next EU Council president and Italian minister Federica Mogherini as the bloc's new foreign affairs chief.Outgoing council head Herman Van Rompuy praised Tusk’s pro-European credentials and for the way he steered Poland through the economic crisis, noting that it was the only EU economy which kept growing while most suffered recession.Tusk said his appointment comes at a time when "eastern European expertise will be badly needed in Europe" and that he will seek an EU consensus on how to handle the Russia-Ukraine conflict. As he will also chair summits of eurozone leaders only, Tusk added that Europe should not be divided into “separate clubs” and that he would not have taken the post if there was to be a separate, eurozone-only chairman.Amid criticism from some EU states on his weak English, he threw in an English pun: “Nothing is good enough for Europe, including my English, and I will polish my English … So don’t worry”.German chancellor Angela Merkel also voiced approval.“It is good that Europe will have such a highly qualified and motivated European, 25 years after the collapse of the Berlin wall, 25 years after the end of the Cold War”, she said in a brief statement.Tusk, 57, is the second Polish politician to get a high-level EU job after Jerzy Buzek, also a former PM, led the European Parliament between 2009 and 2012.Speaking to EUobserver after the announcement, a Polish diplomat said: “I feel happy. Not just happy. I feel that it’s an important day for Poland … the fact a Pole got one of the highest posts in the EU brings to an end certain old divisions in Europe, which no longer exist on the map, but which still exist in some people’s mentalities”.

’New generation’

The other appointment, Mogherini, looked impossible less than two months ago when leaders had a first stab at filling the two top jobs.Mogherini, 41, faced a wall of opposition from eastern member states for lack of experience and Russia-friendliness.But with Tusk tipped for the council job, opposition faded, while Mogherini on Saturday promised to represent "all member states and all EU citizens" in her work. She said she has worked in foreign policy for 20 years in various capacities - including with civil society - and that she represents "a new European generation”.Switching from English to French, she quoted an EU founder, Robert Schuman, who said "peace can't be safeguarded without creative efforts”.Recalling her controversial trip to Moscow in July, she noted that her first trip after Italy took up the rotating EU presidency was to Kiev. She also said the Moscow visit was "co-ordinated" with outgoing EU foreign policy chief Catherine in a bid to "facilitate a form of dialogue” with Russia, which, later on, “failed”.

Portfolio battle begins

Part of the debate on Tusk-Mogherini was linked to portfolios in the new European Commission, to be led by Luxembourg’s Jean-Claude Juncker.Finnish PM Alexander Stubb on Saturday, after meeting with centre-right leaders and Juncker, said "part of the discussion was about commissioner posts”.He said Finland wants "a very strong position for former [Finnish] prime minister Jyrki Katainen - after all he has been finance minister for four years and prime minister for three years. He's highly qualified for any high position”.Juncker will next week hold hearings with all commissioner candidates and is to finalise a list of names by Friday, before seeking approval for his choice from EU countries’ ambassadors.Juncker met Mogherini on Saturday ahead of the summit, with his spokeswoman tweeting a picture and saying that he was "interviewing" her already. He is to finalise the allocation of portfolios on 8 or 9 September and submit the names-and-portfolios list to the European Parliament, which will grill the candidates, including Mogherini, later next month before voting Yes or No on the new commission in October.

EZEKIEL 35:9-11
9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy (ARABS) cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10 Because thou (ARABS) hast said, These two nations (ISRAEL & JUDAH) and these two countries (ISRAEL & JUDAH) shall be mine, and we (ARABS) will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:
11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy (GELIOUSY) which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them;(ISRAELIS) and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.(ARABS)

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.(AFRICAN MUSLIMS,SUDAN,TUNESIA ETC)
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8,11-21
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back,(RUSSIA-ARAB MUSLIM ISRAEL HATERS) and leave but the sixth part of thee,(5/6TH OR 300 MILLION DEAD RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS I BELIEVE) and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)(EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN THE JORDAN VALLEY)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)

EU leaders give Putin one-week deadline-Today @ 02:25-aug 30,14-euobserver-By Andrew Rettman

BRUSSELS - EU leaders have given Russian president Vladimir Putin one week to stop attacking Ukraine or face more sanctions. The latest ultimatum came after Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko personally told the 28 presidents and PMs at a summit in Brussels on Saturday (30 August) that he is a hair’s breadth away from “full-scale war” with his neighbour. The summit conclusions corroborated his claim that last week saw an open “aggression by Russian armed forces on Ukrainian soil”.The conclusions tasked the European Commission to present new sanctions options “within a week” and said they will include “a provision on the basis of which every person and institution dealing with the separatist groups in the Donbass [east Ukraine] will be listed”.They did not spell out what will prompt the EU decision, referring only to “the evolution of the situation on the ground”.“There is no precise criterion”, EU Council chairman Herman Van Rompuy told press. For her part, German chancellor Angela Merkel noted that the Russian army’s incursion into Ukraine marks “a new step in the escalation”.She added the upcoming sanctions will target the same areas as the previous round: Russia’s financial sector; exports of dual-use goods; sales of oil-drilling technology; and arms sales. "But we didn't go into details tonight. We didn't talk about names or specific measures", she said.
The one-week lag is designed to give Poroshenko a chance to propose a new peace plan in Kiev on Monday. It will give EU countries’ experts time to haggle over details of the EU measures, with France, for one, keen to make sure new sanctions do not stop it from delivering warships to Russia.French president Francois Hollande said the delay will also give European leaders a chance to co-ordinate with Nato partners at the alliance’s summit in Wales on Thursday and Friday. Some EU countries, including Cyprus, Hungary, and Slovakia, voiced scepticism on further EU action. But others, such as Lithuania, wanted to go much further.Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite told media that Russia “is in a state of war against countries that want to be closer to the European Union and that means, practically, that Russia is in a state of war against Europe. That means we have to help Ukraine … militarily”.For the sceptics, some of whom had called for an impact assessment of existing EU measures before taking new steps, Merkel joked that: "Russia doesn't give regular updates of how much it [the EU sanctions regime] is hurting”.For the hawks, Germany and France ruled out military assistance.“We want a ceasefire, to stop the conflict, not to inflame it”, France's Hollande said.

Putin calls for talks on east Ukraine 'statehood'; rebels fire on ship-Reuters-By Katya Golubkova and Aleksandar Vasovic-aug 31,14-yahoonews
MOSCOW/MARIUPOL Ukraine (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Sunday for immediate talks on the "statehood" of southern and eastern Ukraine, although his spokesman said this did not mean Moscow now endorsed rebel calls for independence for territory they have seized.
The Kremlin leader's remarks, two days after a public appearance in which he compared the Kiev government with Nazis and warned the West not to "mess with us", came as Europe and the United States prepared possible further sanctions to halt what they say is direct Russian military involvement in the war in Ukraine.Germany aired suspicions that Moscow might be trying to create a land corridor to supply Crimea, which it annexed from Ukraine in March, while the four-month conflict moved onto the sea for the first time on Sunday. The separatists said they had fired on a Ukrainian vessel in the Azov Sea using land-based artillery, and a military spokesman in Kiev said a rescue operation was under way.Ukrainian troops and local residents were reinforcing the port of Mariupol on Sunday, the next big city in the path of pro-Russian fighters who pushed back government forces along the Azov Sea this past week in an offensive on a new front.Ukraine and Russia swapped soldiers who had entered each other's territory near the battlefield, where Kiev says Moscow's forces have come to the aid of pro-Russian insurgents, tipping the military balance in the rebels' favor.Talks should be held immediately "and not just on technical issues but on the political organization of society and statehood in southeastern Ukraine", Putin said in an interview with Channel 1 state television, his hair tousled by wind on the shore of a lake.Moscow, for its part, he said, could not stand aside while people were being shot "almost at point blank".Putin's use of the word "statehood" was interpreted in Western media as implying backing for the rebel demand of independence, something Moscow has so far stopped short of publicly endorsing. However, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there was no new endorsement from Moscow for rebel independence. Asked if "New Russia", a term pro-Moscow rebels use for their territory, should still be part of Ukraine, Peskov said: "Of course.""Only Ukraine can reach an agreement with New Russia, taking into account the interests of New Russia, and this is the only way to reach a political settlement."Rebels have rallied behind the term "New Russia" since Putin first used it in a public appearance in April. Putin called it a tsarist-era term for land that now forms southern and eastern Ukraine. Ukrainians consider the term deeply offensive and say it reveals Moscow's imperial designs on their territory.Moscow has long called for Kiev to hold direct political talks with the rebels. Kiev says it is willing to have talks on more rights for the south and east, but will not talk directly to armed fighters it describes as "international terrorists" and Russian puppets that can only be reined in by Moscow. The deputy leader of the rebel Donetsk People's Republic, Andrei Purgin, said he was due to participate in talks in the Belarus capital Minsk on Monday. Past talks by a "contact group" involving Moscow, Kiev and the rebels have covered technical issues such as access to the crash site of a Malaysian airliner shot down in July, but not political questions.

NEW ADVANCE

The past week has seen Ukrainian forces flee in the path of a new rebel advance, drawing concern from Ukraine's Western allies, who say armored columns of Russian troops came to the aid of a rebellion that would otherwise have been near collapse.European Union leaders agreed on Saturday to draw up new economic sanctions against Moscow, a move hailed by the United States, which is planning tighter sanctions of its own and wants to act jointly with Europe.German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier saw a possible link between the fighting around Mariupol and the Crimean peninsula, which is under Moscow's control but has no land border with Russia."It doesn't appear to be ruled out that Russia is trying to make land connections to organize supplies for the population of Crimea," he was quoted by the Maerkische Allgemeine newspaper as saying in an interview. "Russian land bridges and corridors would be just as illegal and deplorable as its annexation of Crimea."Some residents of Mariupol have taken to the streets of the port to show support for the Ukrainian government as pro-Russian forces gain ground. Many others have fled from the prospect of an all-out assault on the city of nearly 500,000 people."We are proud to be from this city and we are ready to defend it from the occupiers," said Alexandra, 28, a post office clerk wearing a ribbon in blue and yellow Ukrainian colors."We will dig trenches. We will throw petrol bombs at them, the occupiers," she said. "I believe our army and our (volunteer) battalions will protect us."The separatists claimed another victory with what they said was the withdrawal of Ukrainian soldiers from the airport at Donetsk, the main city in the industrial southeast.Alexander Zakharchenko, prime minister of the "Donetsk People’s Republic", told reporters in the city: "They (the Ukrainians) raised a white flag, we ceased fire."He said the rebels had yet to consolidate control over the airport: “The airport is not their territory any more but neither it is ours yet... We will slowly take it back.”

TROOP SWAP

The swap of soldiers overnight at the frontier was a rare gesture to ease tension, but Kiev and Moscow have given starkly opposing accounts of how their troops came to be on each other's territory. A Russian commander said an unspecified number of Russian paratroops were swapped for 63 Ukrainian soldiers. Kiev said the Russian soldiers numbered nine.Kiev and its allies in Europe and the United States say the new rebel offensive has been backed by more than 1,000 Russian troops fighting openly to support the insurgents. The rebels themselves say thousands of Russian troops have fought on their behalf while "on leave".Reuters journalists on the Russian side of the border have seen Russian troops showing signs of having returned from battle, with their insignia removed or rubbed out.Despite the evidence, Moscow denies its troops are fighting in Ukraine and says a small party of soldiers crossed the border by accident. Russian Major-General Alexei Ragozin said the paratroops were handed back after "very difficult" negotiations.

SANCTIONS

The United States and EU have gradually tightened economic sanctions against Russia, first imposed after Moscow annexed Crimea following the ousting of Kiev's pro-Russian president by protesters. So far, however, the measures have done little to deter Putin, who gave a typically defiant public appearance on Friday in which he described Russians and Ukrainians as "practically one people" and compared Kiev's attempts to recapture rebellious cities with the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union.Russia is a strong nuclear power, and foreigners should understand that "it's best not to mess with us", he said.Moscow has responded to sanctions by banning the import of most Western foodstuffs and shutting down McDonald's restaurants. The moves reinforce a sense among Russians that they are isolated from a hostile world, as in Cold War days.Agreeing the Western sanctions has been tricky, not least because the 28-member EU must take decisions by consensus and many of its countries depend on Russian energy resources.Nevertheless, the EU has gone further than many had predicted, agreeing to impose sanctions on Russia's financial and oil industries last month after the Malaysian airliner was shot down over rebel territory, killing nearly 300 people, most of them Dutch.EU leaders agreed on Saturday to ask the executive European Commission to draw up more sanctions measures, which could be adopted in coming days. The White House praised the move to "show strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity". But in a sign of the difficulty in achieving an EU consensus, the leader of Slovakia said sanctions had failed so far and threatened to veto any new ones that damaged his country's national interest.(Additional reporting by Richard Balmforth, Pavel Polityuk, Vladimir Soldatkin, Mark Trevelyan, Stephen Brown, Arbi Zubayrayev and Maxim Shemetov; Writing by Peter Graff and David Stamp; Editing by Mark Heinrich)

Jubilant Iraqi forces break two-month siege of Amerli: officials-Reuters-By Ahmed Rasheed and Isabel Coles-aug 31,14-yahoonews

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi security forces backed by Shi'ite militias on Sunday broke the two-month siege of Amerli by Islamic State militants and entered the northern town, officials said. The mayor of Amerli and army officers said troops backed by militias defeated fighters from the Islamic State (IS) to the east of the town. Fighting continued to the north of Amerli in several villages."Security forces and militia fighters are inside Amerli now after breaking the siege and that will definitely relieve the suffering of residents," said Adel al-Bayati, mayor of Amerli. It was hailed as a huge strategic victory for the Iraqi security forces and the militia fighters who joined them after a summer that saw the Islamic State lead other Sunni armed groups in seizing almost one-third of the country's territory."Amerli's battle is a golden victory registered by the Iraqi security forces who are still fighting the terrorist groups in north and south areas of Amerli," said military spokesman Qassim al-Attta.Atta described Amerli as a launching pad to retake the northern province of Salahuddin, including its capital, which was captured by IS in June."The next step will be holding the ground tightly and liberating all the areas which link Amerli to Salahuddin," Atta said on state television. "Our forces will gather in thousands in Amerli to march towards Tikrit."While Kurdish fighters, backed by US air strikes, had beat back the Islamic State after losing terrain in August, the collection of Shi'ite security forces and militias had yet to score a significant military win.The advance of the Iraqi forces in Amerli comes after the U.S. military carried out air strikes overnight on IS militant positions near the town and airdropped humanitarian supplies to the trapped residents there. More aid was dropped from British, French and Australian planes. The Pentagon said the warplanes hit three Humvee patrol vehicles, a tank and an armed vehicle held by militants in addition to a checkpoint controlled by the group, according to the military's Central Command, which runs U.S. operations in the Middle East.

U.S. ROLE CRITICAL

One Kurdish fighter on a base north of Amerli described the American role as critical in ending the siege."It would have been absolutely impossible without the American planes," the Kurdish peshmerga fighter said. "The strikes prevented the Islamic State from moving freely and targeted them with 100 percent accuracy."Residents of Amerli expressed relief."I can see the tanks of the Iraqi army patrolling Amerli's streets now. I'm very happy we got rid of the Islamic State terrorists who were threatening to slaughter us," said Amir Ismael, an Amerli resident, by phone.Armed residents had managed to fend off attacks by IS fighters, who encircled the town and regarded its majority Shi'ite Turkmen population as apostates. More than 15,000 people had remained trapped inside Amerli.North of Amerli, Shiite militia and Kurdish peshmerga fighters were deployed. The armed men were a reminder of how militia fighters have gained in popularity since the beginning of June when IS launched its blitz across northern Iraq."Our goal is all the same to fight IS and repel terrorism," said a fighter from the Peace Brigades, an offshoot of cleric Muqtada Sadr's Mahdi Army militia. The mobilization of Shi'ite militias to take Amerli had created a fluid situation where the armed groups who once fought the American military were benefit ting from U.S. air strikes. One Shi'ite fighter, who declined to give the name of his group, said all Shi'ite militia groups were present, including Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Kataib Hezbollah and Sadr's Peace Brigades."Everyone is here," the fighter said speaking on condition of anonymity. "We came to break the siege of Amerli. We came out of humanity. When the siege of Amerli is broken we will go back to our normal lives."Fighting raged elsewhere in Iraq. In the western city of Ramadi, where Iraqi forces have been battling Sunni groups dominated by IS since January, a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-packed Humvee military vehicle, according to two police officers and a medical official. The blast, targeting an unfinished nine-floor building, killed 22 security personnel and 15 civilians, the medical and police officials said. The building, used by security personnel, was in the centre of Ramadi in western Anbar province.(Reporting by Isabel Coles and Ahmed Rasheed; Editing by Ned Parker and Stephen Powell)

08/30/2014 -Bahrain is willing to welcome 200 Christian families from Mosul-AUG 31,14-VATICAN INSIDER-Mosul, Christians displaced-Camillo Ballin, the Apostolic Vicar for Northern Arabia said so, confirming the king’s attentiveness towards Christians. But humanitarian organisations accuse him of repressing the Shiites-Giorgio Bernardelli

Rome-“The king of Bahrain claims to be willing to help 200 Christian families from Mosul, and receive them in Bahrein. This shows his generosity towards Christians”. Combonian Camillo Ballin, the Apostolic Vicar for Northern Arabia, related the episode himself in an interview he gave a few days ago to Vatican Radio. The king he mentions is Hamad bin isa al Khalifa, who is not new to initiatives of acceptance for the Christians of the Persian Gulf. But it is the same king who has been harshly contested by international human rights organisations, that reprimand him for his severe repression of Shiite protests, who are the majority in the small country governed by a Sunni monarchy supported by Saudi Arabia. At this time, the most famous of the local dissidents, Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, who was condemned to life imprisonment in 2001 and is deemed a “prisoner of conscience” by Amnesty International, has begun a hunger strike in prison. We must also consider that the Persian Gulf has become a crucial frontier for the Church: whilst the rest of the Middle East experiences the tragedy of fleeing Christians, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries have become an immigration destination for hundreds of Filipinos, Indians, Thai and other citizens of the countries within the region, attracted by the labour demand. There is hope that this temporary event might really become a workshop for the opening of new spaces of religious freedom.Bahrain, where these Christians - although they remain foreigners for all intent and purposes - are now around 10% of the population, stood out in recent years for various encouraging signals. The most meaningful was the gift of 9 thousands square metres of land to the Catholic Church, where a big church will be built to fulfill the pastoral needs of the faithful, and will be dedicated to Our Lady of Arabia. Hamad bin isa al Khalifa has personally spoken to Pope Francis last 19th of May, when he was received in the Vatican. On the background, however, looms the question of the political situation of Bahrein, that mirrors the many fractures of the whole Middle Eastern region. It also indicates the need of an overall change of direction in the Middle East, that will fully deal with the question of religious freedom and the relationship among different confessions, even within the Muslim world.

LUKEWARM CHURCHES

REVELATION 3:15-19
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I(GOD) will spue (VOMIT) thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

08/31/2014 -“It is sad to find watered down Christians, who are just like watered down wine”-AUG 31,14-VATICAN INSIDER-The Pope during the Angelus-At today’s Angelus Pope Francis appealed against worldliness and called for a constant renewal with the help of the Gospel, the Eucharist and prayer-Domenico Agasso jr
Rome-At today’s Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square Francis warned against becoming “watered down” and “worldly” Christians."We Christians live in the world fully integrated into the social and cultural reality of our time, and rightly so: but this carries with it the risk that we might become ‘worldly’, that ‘the salt might lose its flavour’ as Jesus would say, in other words we risk becoming watered down Christians.”Francis urged faithful to experience constant “spiritual renewal” by reading the Gospel, going to mass and praying: “Thanks to these gifts of the Lord we can conform ourselves not to the world, but to Christ, and follow Him on His path,” he said."It 's sad - he continued, leaving aside his written speech- to find watered down Christians, who are just like watered down wine and you can't tell if they are Christians or watered down. Like watered down wine you can't tell if its wine or water". "If the salt has become tasteless, it is useless .... Their salt has lost its flavour and they have become worldly ..."Matthew’s Gospel describes “a critical moment in which the contrast between Jesus' way of thinking and that of the disciples emerges.” This is a crucial moment, Francis explained, because after seeing that Peter and the other eleven disciples believed in Him as Messiah and Son of God, Jesus begins to explain that he has to go to Jerusalem, undergo great suffering, die and rise on the third day. “Even Peter feels compelled to rebuke the Master, because he cannot reconcile himself to the idea that the Messiah would come to such an ignoble end.  Then Jesus, in turn, severely rebukes Peter, puts him back "in line" because he does not think "according to God, but according to men" and without realizing it is part of Satan, the tempter".Commenting on today’s readings, Pope Francis emphasised that “you must be continually renewed by drawing from the life source of the Gospel.” And how can you do this in practice? First of all, just by reading and meditating on the Gospel every day, so that the word of Jesus is always present in our lives. Remember to always carry with you a little Gospel and read a page every day ... Let us carry the Word of God," Francis added off the cuff.“In order to be constantly renewed, in addition to meditating on the word of God, it is important to participate "in the Sunday Mass, where we meet the Lord in the community, listen to His Word and receive the Eucharist unites us to Him and each other.  Then another very important thing for the spiritual renewal are days of recollection and retreats.”“Gospel, the Eucharist, prayer, thanks to these gifts of the Lord we can conform ourselves not to the world, but to Christ, and follow Him on His path, the path of "losing our life "to find it,” Francis emphasised. After the Angelus, Francis reminded his audience that tomorrow is the Day for the Safeguarding of Creation, promoted by the Italian Bishops' Conference. "The theme this year - said the pope - is very important, "Educating to care for creation, for the health of our country and our cities".  I hope that it will strengthen the commitment of all institutions, associations and citizens to safeguard the life and health of people by respecting the environment and nature."Francis sent a special greeting to Catholic members of parliament who are holding their fifth international meeting: “I encourage them to carry out their delicate role as representatives of the people, respecting evangelical values.” The annual meeting of the International Catholic Legislator's Network began on Thursday and concluded today, in Frascati (Rome). The Pope then greeted “participants of the Scholas meeting: continue your work with children and young people in the fields of education, sport and culture. And I wish you good luck for tomorrow’s game at the Olympic Stadium.” Francis was referring to the Interreligious Match for Peace which will be played in his honour tomorrow evening at 8:45 pm. Proceeds will go to the Scolas movement. At 4 pm tomorrow the Pope will receive the team and the organisers of the event led by Javier Zanetti in the Nervi audience hall in the Vatican.

POISONED WATERS

HOSEA 4:1-3
1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land,(EARTH) because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2  By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3  Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

ZEPHANIAH 1:2-3
2  I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.
3  I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

EZEKIEL 32:6-9
6  I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
7  And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
8  All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.
9  I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.

REVELATION 8:8-11
8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood:(bitter,Poisoned) and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.(poisoned)

REVELATION 16:3-7
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.(enviromentalists won't like this result)
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they(False World Church and Dictator) have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Fukushima fallout: Resentment grows in nearby Japanese city-Reuters-By Mari Saito and Antoni Slodkowski-aug 31,14-yahoonews

IWAKI Japan (Reuters) - Like many of her neighbours, Satomi Inokoshi worries that her gritty hometown is being spoiled by the newcomers and the money that have rolled into Iwaki since the Fukushima nuclear disaster almost three and a half years ago."Iwaki is changing - and not for the good," said Inokoshi, 55, who echoes a sentiment widely heard in this town of almost 300,000 where the economic boom that followed the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl has brought its own disruption.Property prices in Iwaki, about 60 km (36 miles) south of the wrecked nuclear plant, have jumped as evacuees forced from homes in more heavily contaminated areas snatch up apartments and land. Hundreds of workers, who have arrived to work in the nuclear clean-up, crowd downtown hotels. But long-time residents have also come to resent evacuees and the government compensation that has made the newcomers relatively rich in a blue-collar town built on coal mining and access to a nearby port. Locals have stopped coming to the entertainment district where Inokoshi runs a bar, she says, scared off by the nuclear workers and their rowdy reputation."The situation around Iwaki is unsettled and unruly," said Ryosuke Takaki, a professor of sociology at Iwaki Meisei University, who has studied the town's developing divide. "There are many people who have evacuated to Iwaki, and there are all kinds of incidents caused by friction."

HOSTS WEARY, GUESTS FRIGHTENED

Residents across Fukushima prefecture hailed the first wave of workers who arrived to contain the nuclear disaster in 2011 as heroes. Cities like Iwaki also welcomed evacuees from towns closer to the meltdowns and explosions. At the time, Japan's stoicism and sense of community were praised around the world for helping those who survived an earthquake and tsunami that killed nearly 19,000 and triggered explosions at the nuclear plant. But that solidarity and sense of shared purpose has frayed, according to dozens of interviews. Many Iwaki residents say they have grown weary of hosting evacuees in temporary housing. And the newcomers themselves are frightened, says Hideo Hasegawa, who heads a non-profit group looking after evacuees at the largest temporary housing complex in Iwaki."When they move in to an apartment, they don't talk to neighbours and hide," said Hasegawa, who works from a small office located between rows of grey, prefabricated shacks housing the evacuees. "You hear this hate talk everywhere you go: restaurants, shops, bars. It's relentless."The 2011 nuclear crisis forced more than 160,000 people in Fukushima prefecture to evacuate and leave their homes. Half of them are still not allowed to return to the most badly contaminated townships within 20 kms (12.4 miles) of the destroyed plant known as the exclusion zone. Since April, the government has allowed some residents to return to parts of the evacuation zone. But the area remains sparsely populated and riddled with hot spots where radiation is as much as four times the government’s target for public safety.Work crews in white decontamination suits have poured radiation-tainted topsoil and debris into black-plastic bags piled at improvised storage sites on roadsides and public parks awaiting a shift to a more permanent nuclear waste dump.By contrast, Iwaki has prospered. On a recent Saturday, parking lots near downtown were packed – along with restaurants near Taira, the city's downtown. Chuo-dai Kashima, a newly developed area in Iwaki where many of the temporary housing units have been built, saw an almost 12 percent rise in land prices in the past year, according to government data. That was among the highest increases across Japan and behind only Ishinomaki, Miyagi, a coastal city that was destroyed by the 2011 tsunami and has only just begun to rebuild.

THE NEW MILLIONAIRES

At the heart of the tensions is an unresolved debate about how much people across Fukushima should be compensated for the suffering, dislocation and uncertainty that followed the nuclear accident. Some Iwaki residents grumble they are being forced to shoulder the burden of hosting evacuees who receive far more compensation from the government and do not have to pay rent on their government-provided prefab temporary homes. In January 2013, vandals threw paint and broke windows on cars parked in evacuee housing at multiple locations. Less than a month earlier, someone had painted graffiti reading, "Evacuees Go Home" at the entrance to a city office.Tokyo Electric Power, the operator of the Fukushima plant, has paid almost $41 billion in compensation as a result of the nuclear accident. Payments vary depending on the amount of radiation recorded in a particular area, a system that evacuees have complained appears arbitrary. A family of four in one part of an evacuated town might receive $1 million, while a similar family in a less contaminated part of the same evacuated town would get just over half of that amount, according to data from Japan's trade ministry. The radioactive plume that erupted after a partial meltdown at the Fukushima plant travelled northwest, missing Iwaki. Most of Iwaki's residents evacuated for a while, but most then returned. Their compensation was also limited: the majority received about 120,000 yen ($1,200) each. Many established residents in Iwaki complain government payouts to the newcomers have been frittered away on luxury cars and villas, locally dubbed "disaster relief mansions.""The food the evacuees eat and the clothes they wear are different," said Hiroshi Watahiki, 56, a chiropractor in Iwaki. "They can afford it from their compensation funds. They have time and money to go gambling since they're not working."A poll in January by Takaki showed residents had conflicting feelings about the evacuees. More than half of those surveyed expressed sympathy for them, but 67 percent also said they "feel envious of their compensation." The tensions are unlikely to be resolved any time soon. The government is planning to build 3,700 permanent apartments to replace the temporary units for evacuees, most of them in Iwaki. The first 1,600 apartments, however, are nine months behind schedule and will not be ready until 2017, officials say.(Editing by Kevin Krolicki, Bill Tarrant and Ian Geoghegan)

Lava eruption prompts Iceland aviation alert-Associated Press-By BY JENNA GOTTLIEB and SYLVIA HUI-aug 31,14-yahoonews

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) — Lava fountains danced along a lengthy volcanic fissure near Iceland's subglacial Bardarbunga volcano Sunday, prompting authorities to raise the aviation warning code to the highest level and close the surrounding airspace. The red warning code — the highest in the country's alert system — was raised early Sunday after the eruption in the Holuhraun lava field, about five kilometers (three miles) north of the Dyngjujoekull glacier. The warning was lowered 12 hours later as visibility improved and it was clear that no volcanic ash was detected. The country's meteorological agency said scientists were monitoring the ongoing eruption."Visual observation confirms it is calm, but continuous," the weather agency said on its website.Sunday morning's eruption at about 0500 GMT (1 a.m. EDT) followed a smaller one in the same site on Friday that also prompted authorities to briefly raise the aviation warning code to restrict flights in the area. Thousands of small earthquakes have rocked the region in recent days, leading to concerns that the main volcano may erupt. The aviation warning meant that no flights were allowed in the airspace north of the fissure eruption area, up to 6,000 feet (1.1 miles) from the ground. Aviation officials said the restrictions do not affect commercial flights, which fly much higher than that.Authorities said lava fountains of about 50 meters (165 feet) high erupted Sunday from the fissure, estimated to be almost a mile (1.6 kms) long. The fissure eruption appeared about 40 kilometers (28 miles) from the main Bardarbunga volcano, which lies under the vast Vatnajokull glacier that dominates the eastern corner of Iceland.Though remote and sparsely populated, the area is popular with hikers in the summer. Officials earlier evacuated all tourists in the region after intense seismic activity there.Although Sunday's fissure eruption was more powerful than the one on Friday, experts say the situation is contained and is unlikely to result in the same level of aviation chaos as 2010. In April that year, an eruption at the Eyjafjallajokull volcano wreaked havoc on millions of travelers. More than 100,000 flights were canceled after officials closed Europe's air space for five days out of fear that volcanic ash could damage jet engines.Dave McGarvie, a volcanologist at Britain's Open University, said the fissure eruptions produce only very small amounts of ash — they produce mostly lava — and are highly unlikely to cause any aviation disruption."It's good news in the sense that it appears to be very small, very contained. It's not spreading under the glacier — if it did you'll get a lot of flooding," he said.He said Icelandic authorities are mostly concerned that the main volcano under the ice cap will erupt, but there are no signs so far that this is imminent.___Sylvia Hui contributed to this report from London.

Conakry (AFP) - Working at breakneck speed, the nurses rush between departments at Guinea's largest hospital, wearing gloves they have bought at their own expense to protect themselves against the Ebola virus. The often chronically under-resourced staff of Donka hospital in the capital Conakry -- like health workers across west Africa -- sacrifice everything in the battle against a deadly epidemic, often their own lives. The World Health Organization said last week that more than 120 health workers across the region had died during the "unprecedented" outbreak which began early this year, and more than 240 had been infected."The outbreak of Ebola virus disease in west Africa is unprecedented in many ways, including the high proportion of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers who have been infected," the agency said in a statement. The toll on health workers is all the more the more devastating in the three worst-hit nations -- Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone -- where more than 1,500 people have died and where there are just one or two doctors for every 100,000 people.Sierra Leone, which had already lost its only virologist and other senior medics, reported the death of a third physician last week.A Senegalese WHO expert was also infected in Sierra Leone and was admitted on Wednesday to a hospital in the German city of Hamburg.

- 'If God lets me live' -

"One day, if God lets me live, when Ebola becomes a distant memory, I will explain to my grandchildren or great-grandchildren that this disease called Ebola shook the world in 2014," says Marie Fikhe, a nurse in charge of a department at Donka hospital. She is interrupted by ambulance sirens announcing the admission of a new case of Ebola, a fever which has killed more than half the people it has infected in the west African outbreak and is passed on via contact with bodily fluids."After every task, you have to change gloves and wash your hands, yet we are only given one pack a week, which is clearly insufficient," says Fikhe." Everybody knows that sponsors donate loads of them, so they should be used to treat patients... (yet) very often, after a few days, they can be found being sold on the local market."She recalls a colleague who died in the hospital's isolation centre because she had unwittingly contracted Ebola while nursing a woman everyone assumed had typhoid."It was right at the beginning, before the laboratory in Lyon discovered that the disease raging in the south was Ebola virus disease," Fikhe says.

- Honour and responsibility -

Among the reasons for the heavy price paid by the medical profession, WHO cites the similarity between the early symptoms of Ebola and those of several infectious diseases endemic to the region, such as malaria, typhoid fever and Lassa fever. The agency also blames a "lack or misuse of personal protective equipment and the small numbers of medical personnel".In Donka hospital, a nurse who asks to be identified as "Dr Mara" underlines the problem."Look at my outfit. I had to buy it at my own expense... Mostly, I'll source decent white fabrics from the market and get them sewn by my tailor.""Even the gloves on the table there, it was me who bought them," insists the nurse, in between dashes to casualty, the pharmacy, the laboratory and the Ebola isolation unit, claiming to have to work without surgical spirit, soap or even water. One of her colleagues, Jacqueline Thea, a frail figure in overalls which are too big, says she remains in the job "because I do not want to escape my responsibilities, because I was sworn in, because I want to honour my children". "Otherwise I would have given up everything to go far away from here, away from Guinea," she says.

1 JOHN 4:2-3
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 JOHN 7
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

1 JOHN 2:18,22
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

2 CORINTHIANS 6:14
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

1 TIMOTHY 4:1-2
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits,(NEW AGE MOVEMENT) and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;(NEW AGERS BELIEVE SATANS LIES OF NO SIN,POSSITIVE THINKING,PEACE,LOVE,JOY,UTOPIA)

ISAIAH 14:12-14
12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,(SATAN) son of the morning!(HEBREW-CRECENT MOON-ISLAM) how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.(AND 1/3RD OF THE ANGELS OF HEAVEN FELL WITH SATAN AND BECAME DEMONS)

JOHN 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.(ISLAM MURDERS IN THE NAME OF MOON GOD ALLAH OF ISLAM)

2 THESOLONIANS 2:11-12
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Conversions to Islam-May 8, 2013 by David Solway-FRONT PAGE MAG

tamerlanAn alarming feature of our current sociocultural world is the striking frequency of conversions to Islam across the entire gamut of Western private and public life: prisoners converting to the religion of peace in record numbers; women who crave the emotional comfort and feeling of security that donning the hijab or the niqab purportedly confers; disaffected youth who find purpose and meaning in attending the mosque, often becoming radicalized in the process; African-Americans reacting against Christianity as the white man’s religion and who “associate conversion to Islam with recovering their ethnic heritage”; political figures who, whether secretly or publicly, swear by the Koran, the most conspicuous recent example being the bizarre spectacle of Arnoud Van Doorn, one of the Dutch producers of the uncompromising anti-Islam film Fitna and a former leading member of Geert Wilders’ Freedom Party, happily and gratefully converting to Islam. Even a Gitmo prison guard proved unable to resist the seduction of Islam. To read only a partial list of notable converts to Islam is chastening.Such conversions reveal a craving for the collectivist embrace of an explanatory and consoling paradigm, and are a symptom of cultural irresponsibility. Some of these, it is true, remain more or less innocuous, but others lead to the espousal of sanctified violence. Michael Ledeen points out in an interesting article debunking the myth of the “homegrown terrorist” that such people, “motivated by strong ideological or religious beliefs,” have come to identify with foreign doctrines and ideologies that are “anything but homegrown.” The indoctrination they undergo may be learned online, though “more often than not [it] takes place at the feet of foreign teachers and trainers.” They are not to be understood as homegrown terrorists since they have “turned to non-American visions and visionaries.” Reiterating his rejection of the “homegrown” label, Ledeen calls them “converts” who “have taken leave of us to join our enemies.” Of course, the terminology we use may also be a question of semantics. Rudi Giuliani has no qualms about using the term “homegrown,” but he means the same thing as Ledeen. He goes wrong, however, in claiming that a significant number of terrorist attacks come from a “distorted Islamic extremist ideology.” Such attacks are enjoined in the Koran and validated in the Hadith and derive not from some rarefied or ultraist version of the faith but from Islam proper. There is nothing “distorted” (to echo Giuliani) or deviant about them.

“Imagine,” writes former Muslim Bosch Fawstin, “if…we used terms such as ‘Radical Nazism’…and ‘Militant Communism.’ The implication would be that there are good versions of those ideologies, which would then lead some to seek out ‘moderate’ Nazis. Those who use terms other than ‘Islam’ create the impression that it’s some variant of Islam that’s behind the enemy that we’re facing.” He continues by stressing the undeniable fact that Islam “is a political religion; the idea of a separation of Mosque and State is unheard of in the Muslim world. Islam has a doctrine of warfare, Jihad, which is fought in order to establish Islamic (‘Sharia’) Law, which is, by nature, totalitarian. Sharia Law calls for, among other things: the dehumanization of women; the flogging/stoning/killing of adulterers; and the killing of homosexuals, apostates and critics of Islam. All of this is part of orthodox Islam, not some ‘extremist’ form of it.” Many, if not most, converts appear serenely unaware of the central tenets and imperatives of their adopted faith, and never seem to ask themselves the obvious question: was Mohammed, with his program of military conquest and his many sanguinary injunctions, a “moderate Muslim” or an Islamist? What we are dealing with is a local subset of V.S. Naipaul’s Beyond Belief: Islamic Excursions among the Converted Peoples. Naipaul treats of the tragic effects of Arab imperialistic conquest of four Asian nations, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan and Indonesia. He writes: “The cruelty of Islamic fundamentalism is that it allows only one people—the Arabs, the original people of the Prophet—a past, and sacred places.” Converted peoples “have to strip themselves of their past…It is the most uncompromising kind of imperialism.” Naipaul’s stories about his travels and the people he met are often heartrending and testify to the confusion and dislocation he sees in their lives and the desertification of mind and spirit that Islam has visited on these countries—the most “retrograde force” in the world, as Winston Churchill described Islam in The River War.Naipaul is speaking chiefly of massive, forced conversions, but the same is true, mutatis mutandis, of the inroads that the religion of peace has carved into the West where voluntary conversions seem to have attained near-epidemic proportions. Islamic supremacy operates through various complementary means: fear triggered by outright violence and the threat of violence; infiltration of administrations at the municipal, regional and national levels; the suborning of a debauched and obeisant media apparatus; the abject scrivenings of a submissive intellectual class; the pervasive compliance of the entertainment industry; and the corruption of the academy with the willing assistance of university syndics, professors and student unions—a perfect illustration of the Gramscian long march through the institutions. The evidence is pouring in from everywhere, dutifully ignored by those who have a stake in the multicultural fiction. Bruce Bawer, our point man in Norway, has abundantly chronicled the ongoing Islamic conquest of the country that proceeds with the willing complicity of media, academic and political elites. “One way to avoid warfare,” he quips, “is to surrender,” and tells of a representative youngster, a terrified native Norwegian schoolboy menaced by Muslim gangs, who “alone knows five people who have converted.” Multiply by a correlative census coefficient and the picture darkens considerably.

When all these factors are assembled, abetted by the growing phenomenon of conversion, Islam is virtually assured of subverting vast segments of Western social, cultural and political life. Indeed, as if to rub salt into the wound, Islamic speakers are increasingly hosted in our auditoriums, public venues and places of worship while those who oppose the surrender of our rights and liberties to an alien and hostile creed are vigorously repudiated. To take only the most recent instances of such blatant ignominy, in the immediate wake of the horrific Boston Marathon bombing and the terrorist plot to blow up a VIA rail passenger train over Niagara Falls, the anti-semitic director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at SUNY-Binghamton, Ali Mazrui, is to be honored at Georgetown University, and Leila Shahid, a convicted terrorist, airline hijacker and spokesperson for the Palestinian mafia, has been invited to speak by satellite link at the University of British Columbia. At the same time, Pamela Geller’s speech at a Toronto synagogue has been cancelled, owing to police pressure and a flexible rabbi who caved before it, determined, no doubt, to retain his police chaplaincy. Geller is thus deprived of the opportunity to tell the truth about sharia, jihad, honor killing, female genital mutilation, blasphemy laws and all the other gifts showered upon us by Islamic advocacy. But Ali Mazrui and Leila Shahid will be offered the occasion and the forum to fire up sympathy for and make a few more enthusiastic converts to the religion of peace. The longer we insist on ignoring the dromedary in the room, the sooner the acropolis of the West will be invested and despoiled. The drift toward political and cultural capitulation signaled by such callow genuflections as we have noted here is one of the most important issues of our time. The specter of conversion in particular is the sign and stamp of a successful imperial campaign. Once it acquires the force and sweep of a movement, it is too late for a biopsy. The disease has entered its final stages. It is, perhaps, only a matter of one more generation before the curtain comes down—two if we are lucky. To adapt T.S. Eliot’s famous aphorism, this is how a culture dies, not with a bang but a simper.

PUBLISHED: August 29, 2014 14:30-UK terror threat raised to 'severe'-shropshire star

The terror threat to the UK has been raised from substantial to severe, Home Secretary Theresa May has announced. The rising alert means that a terrorist attack is "highly likely", although Theresa May stressed that there is no information to suggest an attack is imminent. The rising alert means that a terrorist attack is "highly likely", although Theresa May stressed that there is no information to suggest an attack is imminent. This means that a terrorist attack is "highly likely", although Mrs May stressed that there is no information to suggest an attack is imminent. She said: "The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) is responsible for setting the national threat level. That informs the decisions of security professionals across the public and private sectors about the appropriate level of security in place across the United Kingdom."JTAC's judgements about that threat level are made on the basis of the very latest intelligence and are independent of ministers."JTAC has today raised the threat level to the UK from international terrorism from SUBSTAN TIAL to SEVERE. That means that a terrorist attack is highly likely, but there is no intelligence to suggest that an attack is imminent."It is understood that there is no intelligence relating to any specific threat to the forthcoming Nato summit. The decision comes against a backdrop of increasing concern about hundreds of aspiring British jihadis travelling to Iraq and Syria to learn terrorist "tradecraft", and the murder of American journalist James Foley by an apparently English killer.Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the UK's most senior police officer, said Scotland Yard is prepared for an influx in case a swathe of homegrown extremists decide to return at the same time.In a statement released today, Mrs May said: "The increase in the threat level is related to developments in Syria and Iraq where terrorist groups are planning attacks against the West. Some of those plots are likely to involve foreign fighters who have travelled there from the UK and Europe to take part in those conflicts."The first and most important duty of government is the protection of the British people. We have already taken steps to improve our powers and increase our capabilities for dealing with the developing terrorist threats we face. That process will continue and the British public should be in no doubt that we will take the strongest possible action to protect our national security."We face a real and serious threat in the UK from international terrorism. I would urge the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police."

There are five levels of threat used by the JTAC. These are:

Critical - an attack is expected imminently.

Severe - an attack is highly likely.

Substantial - an attack is a strong possibility.

Moderate - an attack is possible but not likely.

Low - an attack is unlikely.

"From this afternoon we will begin to increase our levels of visible patrols and implement other security and protection measures. We will also build on existing community relations to provide reassurance and seek their support and assistance in keeping the UK safe."

Fort Hood shooter says he wants to become 'citizen' of Islamic State caliphate-By Catherine Herridge-Published August 29, 2014-FoxNews.com

Nidal Hasan is the Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting rampage.

The convicted shooter in the Fort Hood massacre has written a letter to the leader of the Islamic State saying he wants to become a "citizen" of the caliphate, in the latest example of the terror group's reach inside the U.S.The letter from Nidal Hasan, obtained by Fox News, comes after two Americans reportedly died fighting for ISIS in Syria. Sources late Wednesday identified the second as Abdirahmaan Muhumed, of Minneapolis. Fox affiliate KMSP-TV in Minneapolis reported that Muhumed was killed in the same battle as Douglas McArthur McCain, who grew up outside Minneapolis in the town of New Hope and most recently lived in San Diego. The State Department said Thursday it could not confirm Muhumed’s death and efforts to reach his family were unsuccessful. In the undated letter, Hasan -- who fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 at Fort Hood in 2009 in what the Defense Department called “workplace violence”-- tells ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi that he wants to join the caliphate."I formally and humbly request to be made a citizen of the Islamic State,”Hasan says in the handwritten document addressed to “Ameer, Mujahid Dr. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”"It would be an honor for any believer to be an obedient citizen soldier to a people and its leader who don't compromise the religion of All-Mighty Allah to get along with the disbelievers." The two-page letter includes Hasan’s signature and the abbreviation SoA for Soldier of Allah.Hasan's attorney, John Galligan, said the letter “underscores how much of his life, actions and mental thought process are driven by religious zeal. And it also reinforces my belief that the military judge committed reversible error by prohibiting Major Hasan from both testifying and arguing…how his religious beliefs” motivated his actions during the shooting. In the last year, the Department of Justice has brought at least five prosecutions against Americans -- in Florida, California, Virginia and North Carolina - for trying to help terrorists in Iraq and Syria.Omar Jamal, who is well known in Minneapolis’ Somali community, said at least 10 young men from there have been recruited to travel to Syria for ISIS."Douglas McCain wasn't the first one and unfortunately he won't be the last,"Jamal told KMSP-TV.The former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee that investigated radicalization in a series of congressional hearings said there is a pattern.“It was clear and convincing evidence then, that there was a pipeline from Minneapolis to Islamic jihad overseas,” said Peter King, R-N.Y. “And that people in the community knew about it and that people in the community were covering it up.”Catherine Herridge is an award-winning Chief Intelligence correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC) based in Washington, D.C. She covers intelligence, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security. Herridge joined FNC in 1996 as a London-based correspondent.

Palestinian victims describe being used as shields by Hamas

Members of a Gaza family whose farm was turned into a "fortress" by Hamas fighters have reported that they were helpless to stop Hamas from using them as human shields. They described how for years Hamas has used their property and homes as shields for military installations from which to launch rockets into Israel, dig tunnels and store arms. According to the victims, those who tried to object were shot in the legs by Hamas.

The following is the full text of the comments by Hamas representative Fathi Hammad months before the war, articulating the Hamas ideology to use civilians as human shields for Hamas fighters:"For the Palestinian people death has become an industry, at which women excel and so do all people on this land: the elderly excel, the Jihad fighters excel, and the children excel. Accordingly [Palestinians] created a human shield of women, children, the elderly and the Jihad fighters against the Zionist bombing machine, as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: 'We desire death as you desire life.'"

ZEPHANIAH 2:1-7
1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
2  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you.
3  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.
4  For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.(ITS NO ACCIDENT THAT IN THIS GAZA WAR ITS ASHKELON-ASHDOD AND THE MURDERER HAMAS IN GAZA WERE MOST OF THE BOMBING ARE)(THIS IS PROPHECY COMING TO PASS BIGTIME)
5  Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast,(GAZA) the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines,(PALESTINIANS) I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
6  And the sea coast (GAZA) shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
7  And the coast (GAZA) shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah;(ISRAEL) they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.(BY THIS PROPHECY I PREDICT ISRAEL WILL RETAKE GAZA SO ISRAELIS AROUND THE WORLD CAN IMMIGRATE THERE AND BUILD HOMES AND LIVE)

ISAIAH 14:29-32
29  Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina,(ARABS-PALESTINIANS) because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.(BOMBS)(WARFARE)
30  And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.
31  Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina,(ARABS) art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.
32  What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion,(JERUSALEM) and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

15  And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
16  And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
17  And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
18  Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19  And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.
20  Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.

Israeli police find body in search for missing U.S. student-Reuters-August 28, 2014 12:32 PM-yahoonews

Aaron Sofer, a Jewish seminary student from New Jersey, vanished on Friday while walking in woods not far from Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust museum, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said."A body has been found in the Jerusalem forest. Forensics officers are examining the scene, which has been sealed off, but no formal identification has yet been made," Rosenfeld said.He added that Sofer had been hiking with a friend, making their way up a hill, and they lost contact with each other. There was no word on the condition of the body or possible clues surrounding the circumstances of the death. In June, three Israeli seminary students, all teenagers, were kidnapped while hitch-hiking in the occupied West Bank, some 30 km (20 miles) south of Jerusalem, and later found dead. The Palestinian militant group Hamas later acknowledged responsibility for the killings, which helped precipitate seven weeks of war between militants in Gaza and Israel that ended with an open-ended ceasefire on Tuesday.Rosenfeld said police - including canine units, mounted officers and helicopters had combed the entire Jerusalem forest, which spans 310 acres (125 hectares) at the outskirts of the city, along with volunteers for Sofer. The Sofer family flew to Israel to be in contact with authorities as the search proceeded. Yoel Sofer said his brother had gone out for a day-long hike during a study break."He came to take a little walk. He had his shoes, his hat and jacket, he just needed a little fresh air," the brother said earlier. "We just want him back. Whatever anyone can do to get him back. Please pray for him."(Reporting by Herbert Villarraga, Ilan Nachum and Ari Rabinovitch Editing by Mark Heinrich)

Abbas Says US Agreed to 'Palestine' Along '67 Borders'-Reports that Abbas claimed Netanyahu agreed clarified - it was the US instead. Abbas adds Hamas shouldn't go to war alone.By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 8/29/2014, 8:55 AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas was quoted in Palestinian Arab news sources as claiming that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu agreed to a Palestinian state on the 1949 Armistice lines - apparently Abbas actually said that the US, not Netanyahu, had made that agreement.Abbas's actual statements from the recent interview were that the US expressed its support for establishing a Palestinian state along the "1967 borders," adding that all that was left was to sketch up the final border lines, reports Walla!.Netanyahu hurried to deny the reports that he had made the agreement, and likewise denied reports in a Jordanian daily that Netanyahu and Abbas met in Amman last week.In the interview, Abbas added that PA chief negotiator Saeb Erekat and intelligence chief Majid Farraj will meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry next week, where they will discuss the question of whether "there is or isn't a solution" to the conflict with Israel. The report comes after Abbas recently declared he would unilaterally ask the UN to set a deadline for Israel to withdraw to the 1949 Armistice lines, a move the US has opposed. The clarification that the US agreed to establishing "Palestine" along the "1967 borders" in fact does not signify such a major change of rhetoric from US President Barack Obama's administration.Back in 2011, Obama said in a speech "we believe the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps." In that same speech, he said "Palestinians...(have been) suffering the humiliation of occupation."Contrasting with Obama's appraisal, a recently declassified document from the heads of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1967 shortly after the Six Day War, which was obtained by analyst Mark Langfan for Arutz Sheva, specified that for strategic reasons Israel can not afford to withdraw from Judea and Samaria even under the much more limited military realities of that time.Hamas "shouldn't go to war alone"In a recent interview, Abbas also spoke about Operation Protective Edge, which began on July 8 in response to Hamas launching a terror war by escalating its rocket attacks from Gaza on Israeli civilian centers."No faction should go to war (alone)," said Abbas, slamming Hamas's unilateral action. "The decision on war and peace isn't in the hands of Hamas alone, but rather in the hands of the Palestinian leadership.""If Hamas wants to decide on war, it will deal with it alone," added the PA chairman.Showing signs of increased tension with Hamas, with whom Abbas signed a unity agreement in April torpedoing the peace talks, Abbas added that the Gaza based group has a "shadow government." He noted "if this continues, it will threaten the national unity," and likewise decried Hamas's recent execution of "collaborators with Israel" as being a "crime."Abbas's comments come after a message was released last Wednesday by jailed arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti, a member of Abbas's Fatah faction who polls in May found was favored for unity government president by Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.In the message, Barghouti called for Fatah to go through a revolution and reject negotiations for "resistence," as well as tightening unity with Hamas.

Netanyahu: I Hope Abbas will 'Divorce' Hamas-PM Netanyahu says he would be willing to resume peace talks, but only if PA Chairman chooses peace with Israel over Hamas.By Elad Benari, Canada-First Publish: 8/29/2014, 8:40 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu says that if Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas “gives Hamas a divorce”, he would be willing to resume peace negotiations with him.Speaking to Channel 10 News in an interview to air Saturday night and of which excerpts were published on Friday, Netanyahu said that Operation Protective Edge in Gaza brought with it a new diplomatic opportunity."Today there may be a reality that allows us to act on the one hand to promote our security interests and on the one hand start a responsible diplomatic process based on the new reality," said the Prime Minister. However, he stressed that it is "early to say this, but not early to look into it and I am.”Netanyahu reiterated, as he has many times in the past, that Abbas would need to choose between peace with Israel and Hamas, but hinted that if Abbas chooses not to go with Hamas, he will be ready to work towards a peace agreement."If Abu Mazen will choose the path of peace, and I think he realizes now that he should choose to do so with Hamas not only calling for our destruction, but also calling for his overthrow, in fact they actually tried to overthrow him," Netanyahu said, referring to Hamas’s plan for a large-scale coup of Abbas's new PA government that was foiled by Israel.Asked whether the 50 days of Operation Protective Edge convinced him that Abbas is the only possible partner for peace in the region, Netanyahu said that he hopes to cooperate with Abbas.
"I hope that we can also cooperate with Abbas in the diplomatic process," the Prime Minister told Channel 10."If I had to choose whether I want Hamas in Judea and Samaria or Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority in Gaza, I would choose the latter,” he added.Abbas, he added "will have to choose between peace with Israel or Hamas, it's one or the other.”“Abbas understands that this group was trying to topple him and we exposed it," Netanyahu said, adding that he "can only hope that Abbas will give Hamas a divorce."Netanyahu’s remarks follow several calls on him to renew the peace process following the long-term ceasefire that was reached in Gaza earlier this week.United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon voiced hope earlier this week that the ceasefire will set the stage for talks on a final peace deal.Similar remarks were made by the European Union, which welcomed the long-term ceasefire and called for more talks to bring a "comprehensive and sustainable agreement."Abbas, meanwhile, is continuing his unilateral steps to achieve statehood through the UN, in a direct violation of the Oslo Accords.Abbas’s aides said this week that the PA chairman plans to turn to the international community to set a deadline for Israel to withdraw back to the pre-1967 borders and make way for an independent Palestinian state.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Ya'alon: 'No Chance' Hamas will Get a Seaport-In television interview, Defense Minister hails victory of Operation Protective Edge, says Hamas will pay if it fires rockets again.By Elad Benari, Canada-First Publish: 8/29/2014, 11:02 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon made clear on Friday that “there is no chance” that Hamas will receive a seaport in Gaza, one of its demands as a precondition for a ceasefire.Speaking to Channel 2 News in his first interview since the end of Operation Protective Edge, Ya’alon said that Israel had a clear victory in the operation and promised that if Hamas resumes the rocket fire it will pay."From a military perspective the victory is clear - everything the IDF touched, it defeated the other side," said Ya’alon, who added that the military achievements led to a ceasefire which is good for Israel and bad for Hamas, seeing as Hamas was forced to accept the Egyptian initiative over the Qatari initiative which was more favorable to Hamas."Hamas in essence accepted the terms of the ceasefire as we wanted, without all the issues it tried to bring up - a seaport, airport and prisoners. In accepted a ceasefire as we wanted without conditions," said Ya’alon, who made clear that "there is no chance that Hamas will receive a seaport - it is not in Israel's interest, it is not an Egyptian interest, it's not even in the interest of the Palestinian Authority."Asked about the fate of Mohammed Deif, head of Hamas's "military wing" Al-Qassam Brigades who may or may not have been eliminated in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza, Ya’alon replied, “Time will tell.”The Defense Minister also referred to Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal and said, “Any leader of Hamas, political or not, heads a terrorist authority. Anyone who carries out terrorism against us may be a target for elimination.”Ya'alon, who is known for his hawkish views and his objection to the idea of a Palestinian state, was asked about his position with regards to Prime Minister Binyamin’s Netanyahu stance on the issue."No one has any illusions on the subject - it is a very long process if at all. There is talk all the time, but we need to act without illusions and see how the Palestinian Authority continues to govern and improve its governance in Judea and Samaria,” he said, noting that “without the activity of the IDF and the Shin Bet, Abbas would not have survived.”Asked whether the long-term ceasefire is sustainable, Ya’alon said, “After Operation Pillar of Defense and until July Hamas did not fire even one rocket. There were other organizations that did, and for each such incident, both Hamas and the other organization paid a price. Now that Hamas has seen what we can do, if it fires or allows firing of rockets it will be made to pay.”(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Zoabi at Hamas 'Victory Rally': 'We are All Palestinians'-Pro-Hamas MK pushes to 'end occupation' at 'victory rally' with pro-terror leaders, says 'Palestinian struggle is part of us.'By Tova Dvorin, Chicago-First Publish: 8/29/2014, 9:48 PM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS

Arab MKs Hanin Zoabi, Basel Ghattas, and Jamal Zahalka (Balad) participated at a Hamas "Victory Rally" on Friday, according to Channel 10, in the latest show of identification with Hamas terror in the wake of its war on Israeli civilians.Hundreds of people participated in Friday's march, which commenced in the Galilee's Kafr Kabul. The march, which was sponsored by the Arab Monitoring Committee in Israel, was entitled "Gaza Victory: This is Our Holiday." The opening assembly featured a moment of silence for the Palestinian Arabs - terrorists and civilians - killed in Gaza, as participants bore Palestinian flags. More than just a show of solidarity for Palestinian civilians, the rally seemed to attract many pro-Hamas and pro-terror officials, including all three MKs, leader of the Islamic Movement in Israel and convicted terrorist Sheikh Raed Salah, and Raam-Taal MKs Ibrahim Tzartzur and Masoud Ganayem. However, Zoabi stole the show as usual for her blatant support of Israel's arch-enemy."We are part of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, which failed all Israeli targets, both military and political," Zoabi boasted to reporters at the scene. "The victory of the Palestinian people is still occupied, however, and we cannot break it by force - only through a just political solution and ending the siege and the occupation.""We cannot separate [as Israeli Arabs - ed.] from the resistance of the Palestinian people, it is part of us," she continued. "Thus, they will end the resistance only when there is an end to their oppression, and you cannot break them in their steadfastness."Zoabi, Ghattas, and Zahalka recently revealed that they visited Qatar - the country hosting Hamas's leaders-in-exile - for an alleged conference, then omitted to report the visit to Knesset officials for "technical reasons."Zoabi has been linked to Hamas on multiple occasions, and is infamous for provocative speeches, including one in which she said that Israel has “no right to a normal life” and a later address claiming that “the Israeli occupation” was behind the murder of Israelis in Bulgaria.More recently, Zoabi wrote an article encouraging Hamas on the terror group's website, and was briefly handcuffed during violent pro-Palestinian protests in Haifa.(Arutz Sheva’s North American desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. Missouri police sued for $40 million over actions in Ferguson protests-Reuters-aug 29,14-yahoonews-By Carey Gillam

A group of people caught up in unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, after a white officer killed a black teenager, sued local officials on Thursday, alleging civil rights violations through arrests and police assaults with rubber bullets and tear gas.The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, says law enforcement met a broad public outcry over the Aug. 9 killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown with "militaristic displays of force and weaponry," (and) engaged U.S. citizens "as if they were war combatants." The lawsuit seeks a total of $40 million on behalf of six plaintiffs, including a 17-year-old boy who was with his mother in a fast-food restaurant when they were arrested. Each of the plaintiffs was caught up in interactions with police over a period from Aug. 11 to 13, the suit allege.Named as defendants are the city of Ferguson, St. Louis County, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Delmar, Ferguson police officer Justin Cosmo, and other unnamed police officers from Ferguson and St. Louis County.Neither the city, county nor police departments had any immediate comment on the lawsuit. The lawsuit followed nearly two weeks of racial strife in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, where Brown's killing prompted protesters to take to the streets. Some stores were looted in nightly protests, and police responded with riot gear and moved in military equipment to try to quell the turmoil. One of the plaintiffs alleges she and her son were in a McDonald's restaurant when several police officers with rifles ordered them out. According to the suit, an officer threw her to the ground and handcuffed her, with she and her son both arrested.Another plaintiff alleges he was trying to visit his mother in Ferguson when several police officers in military uniforms in her neighborhood shot him with rubber bullets. When he fell over, he was beaten and sprayed with pepper spray, the lawsuit says. Two other plaintiffs say they were peacefully protesting when officers in riot gear fired on them with tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades. A separate plaintiff says he was trying to record footage of the protests when police took his camera and arrested him."This is a blatant example of how police handle African-Americans ... how it can go terribly, terribly wrong. You have a right to peaceful assembly," said attorney Reginald Greene who brought the case.Police have said police officer Darren Wilson shot Brown in an altercation on a residential street when the officer asked him to move out of the road. Some witnesses have reported that Brown was holding his hands up in surrender when he was shot multiple times, including twice in the head.A St. Louis County grand jury has begun hearing evidence in the case. The U.S. Justice Department has opened its own investigation.(Reporting by Carey Gillam; Editing by Peter Cooney)

U.N. urges U.S. to stop police brutality after Missouri shooting-Reuters-By Stephanie Nebehay-aug 29,14-yahoonews

GENEVA (Reuters) - The U.N. racism watchdog urged the United States on Friday to halt the excessive use of force by police after the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white policeman touched off riots in Ferguson, Missouri.Minorities, particularly African Americans, are victims of disparities, the U.N. Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) said after examining the U.S. record."Racial and ethnic discrimination remains a serious and persistent problem in all areas of life from de facto school segregation, access to health care and housing," Noureddine Amir, CERD committee vice chairman, told a news briefing.Teenager Michael Brown was shot dead by a white police officer on Aug. 9, triggering violent protests that rocked Ferguson - a St. Louis suburb - and shone a global spotlight on the state of race relations in America."The excessive use of force by law enforcement officials against racial and ethnic minorities is an ongoing issue of concern and particularly in light of the shooting of Michael Brown," said Amir, an expert from Algeria."This is not an isolated event and illustrates a bigger problem in the United States, such as racial bias among law enforcement officials, the lack of proper implementation of rules and regulations governing the use of force, and the inadequacy of training of law enforcement officials."The panel of 18 independent experts grilled a senior U.S. delegation on Aug. 13 about what they said was persistent racial discrimination against African-Americans and other minorities, including within the criminal justice system.U.S. Ambassador Keith Harper told the panel that his nation had made "great strides toward eliminating racial discrimination" but conceded that "we have much left to do".Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, who shot Brown, has been put on paid leave and is in hiding. A St. Louis County grand jury has begun hearing evidence and the U.S. Justice Department has opened its own investigation.Police have said Brown struggled with Wilson when shot. But some witnesses say Brown held up his hands and was surrendering when he was shot multiple times in the head and chest.

"STAND YOUR GROUND" LAWS

In its conclusions issued on Friday, the U.N. panel said "Stand Your Ground" Laws, a controversial self-defense statute in 22 U.S. states, should be reviewed to "remove far-reaching immunity and ensure strict adherence to principles of necessity and proportionality when deadly force is used for self-defense".Ron Davis, father of Jordan Davis, a 17-year-old shot dead in a car in Jacksonville, Florida during an argument over loud rap music in November 2012, attended the Geneva session. Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen killed in Miami, Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer, testified. The U.N. panel monitors compliance with a treaty ratified by 177 countries including the United States."The Committee remains concerned at the practice of racial profiling of racial or ethnic minorities by law enforcement officials, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Transportation Security Administration, border enforcement officials and local police," it said, urging investigations. The experts called for addressing obstacles faced by minorities and indigenous peoples to exercise their right to vote effectively. This was due to restrictive voter identification laws, district gerrymandering and state-level laws that disenfranchise people convicted of felonies, it said.Jamil Dakwar of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said the U.N. recommendations highlighted "shortcomings on racial equality that we are seeing play out today on our streets, at our borders and in the voting booth."When it comes to human rights, the United States must practice at home what it preaches abroad," he said.(Reporting by Stephanie Nebehay)
