THE MISSING PLANE MH370 SITUATION AT 12:03AM THU APR 10,2014

Search and recovery continues for Malaysian flight MH370
Media Release-10 April 2014—am-JACC-Angus Houston
Up to 10 military aircraft, four civil aircraft and 13 ships will assist in today's search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.Aircraft and ships reported spotting a large number of objects during yesterday's search, but only a small number were able to be recovered.None of the recovered items were believed to be associated with MH370.Today AMSA has planned a search area of about 57,923 square kilometres. The centre of the search area lies approximately 2280 kilometres north west of Perth.Moderate south easterly winds with isolated showers are forecast. Visibility will be fair (5000 metres) during the showers. The underwater search continues today, with ADV Ocean Shield at the northern end of the defined search area, and Chinese ship Haixun 01 and HMS Echo at the southern end.The Australian Transport Safety Bureau continues to refine the area where the aircraft entered the water based on continuing ground-breaking and multi-disciplinary technical analysis of satellite communication and aircraft performance, passed from the international air crash investigative team comprising analysts from Malaysia, the United States, the United Kingdom, China and Australia.

THE MISSING PLANE MH370 SITUATION AT 8:30AM THU APR 10,2014

BREAKING NEWS ON MH370-777-200ER
WE KNOW NOW THE PILOT WAS THE ONE THAT SAID GOOD NIGHT 370.THERE SAYING THERE WAS NOBOBY ELSE IN THE COCKPIT BUT THE PILOT AND THE CO-PILOT.WHILE THIS WAS GOING ON THEY KNOW.WE NEXT KNOW NOW THAT THE PLANE DID DROP FROM 35,000 FEET TO 5,000 FEET DOWN ON THE INDONESIA ROOT AND THEN THE PLANE FELL OFF THE RADAR FOR 120 MILES AVOIDING INDONE SIAS RADAR.THE FAMILIES DRAWING OF THE ROOT WAS DEAD ON.AND NOW WE KNOW WERE THE 2 ARMY PLANES COMES IN ALSO.MALAYSIA SENT OUT 2 MILITARY JETS TO TRY TO FIND THE MISSING PLANE.BUT NEVER FOUND IT.OR LIKE SARAH SAID.THESE 2 MILITARY PLANES DID ACCOMPANY FLIGHT 370 AND POSSIBLY DID FORCE IT TO LAND IN INDONESIA.SINCE IT WAS IN THE INDONESIA AREA WERE THE PLANE WAS OFF THE MILITARY RADAR FOR 120 MILES.MY THEORY MIGHT BE CLOSE WHEN I SAID THAT THE PLANE LANED IN INDONESIA. THEN A CLONE OF THE PLANE TOOK OFF AND WENT AROUND INDONESIA THEN AFTER THE 120 MILES WAS UP OR THE LANDING WAS SUCCESSFUL IN INDONESIA. THE CLONE PLANE WENT BACK UP TO 35,000 FEET-WAS DECTED ON RADAR AGAIN AFTER IT WENT AROUND INDONESIA.THEN THE CLONE PLANE OF MH370 ON AUTO PILOT DONE THE INDIAN OCEAN RUN FOR UP TO THE 7TH HOUR -THEN IT RAN OUTTA GAS AND LIKE THE MALAYSIAN LEADER SAID.THE PLANE SUDDENLY FELL OUT OF THE SKY AND INTO THE INDIAN OCEAN.MY QUESTION IS WHY WOULD THE MALAYSIAN PM PUT IT THAT WAY.THAT THE PLANE SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE INDIAN OCEAN.AND NOT SAY IT JUST CRASHED IN THE INDIAN OCEAN.NOW I HAVE VERY SERIOUS QUESTIONS WHY HE SAID IT SUDDENLY FELL OUT OF THE SKY.THIS MAKES ME SUSPICIOUS THAT THE PM OF MALAYSIA KNEW HOW IT WENT DOWN IN THE INDIAN OCEAN.BECAUSE ANY NORMAL PERSON WOULD HAVE SAID IT CRASHED IN THE INDIAN OCEAN.BECAUSE UNLESS YOU WERE INVOLVED AND KNEW THAT THE PLANE SUDDENLY FELL OUT OF THE SKY.YOU WOULD JUST SAY IT CRASHED.THIS TELLS ME ITS MORE NIFERIOUS THEN I THOUGHT BEFORE.THE PILOTS AND THE PM OF MALAYSIA MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN THE KIDNAPPING.AND THEN THEY DITCHED THE SECOND REPLACEMENT PLANE IN THE INDIAN OCEAN AFTER IT LANDED IN INDONESIA WITH THE CITIZENS.ALL I KNOW NOW THIS SURE BRINGS UP SERIOUS NEW QUESTIONS IN MY EYES.WE WILL KNOW IF MY INDONESIA THEORY IS CORRECT IF THIS PLANE IN THE INDIAN OCEAN HAS NOBODY ON IT AND THE BLACK BOXES WILL HAVE NOTHING ON THEM.
Heres my Indonesia Clone Plane theiry LINK
http://israndjer.blogspot.ca/2014/04/day-31-mh370-missing-plane-deception.html

AND ALSO TODAY THEY HAD A FIFTH PING HIT.SO THEY ARE TONING IN ON THE SITE WERE THE PLANE SUDDENLY-FELL IN THE INDIAN OCEAN AS THE PM OF MALAYSIA PUT IT.INSTEAD OF CRASHED INTO THE INDIAN OCEAN.AND 5 DIFFERENT PILOTS LISTENED TO THE AUDIO OF THE LAST TALK AND SAID IT WAS DEFINATELY THE PILOT THAT SAID THE LAST WORDS GOOD NIGHT MALAYSIA 370.AND EVERYTHING WAS CALM IN THE COCKPIT.NO DISTERBINANCES AT ALL.SO LIKE I THOUGHT RIGHT FROM THE BEGGING IF IT WAS A KIDNAPPING LIKE I THINK.THE PILOTS WERE INVOLVED.AND NOW I'M SUSPICIOUS THE MALAYSIAN PM MAY BE INVOLVED ALSO.AND ALSO INDONESIA IS INVOLVED BY MY THEORY. BECAUSE THATS WERE THE KIDNAPERS TOOK THE CITIZENS.AND THEN A CLONE OF THE 370 WAS QUICKLY PUT BACK IN THE AIR.PUT BACK ON RADAR FINISHED GOING AROUND INDONESIA THEN OUT INTO THE INDIAN OCEAN FOR 7 HOURS BEFORE THE PLANE SUDDENLY FELL IN THE INDIAN OCEAN AFTER IT RAN OUTTA GAS.IF MY THEORY IS CORRECT.THIS WAS ONE CONTRIVED-DELIBERATE ACT OF KIDNAPPING ON THE PART OF 2 cOUNTRIES AND BOTH PILOTS.WE WILL SEE IF WE GET MORE DETAILS.

MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER NAJIB RAZAK WORDS-MARCH 24,14

Title -PM NAJIB RAZAK'S PRESS STATEMENT ON MH370 - 24 MARCH 2014
Pejabat Perdana Menteri

This evening I was briefed by representatives from the UK Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
They informed me that Inmarsat, the UK company that provided the satellite data which indicated the northern and southern corridors, has been performing further calculations on the data.Using a type of analysis never before used in an investigation of this sort, they have been able to shed more light on MH370's flight path.Based on their new analysis, Inmarsat and the AAIB have concluded that MH370 flew along the southern corridor, and that its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean, west of Perth. This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites. It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that, according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean. We will be holding a press conference tomorrow with further details. In the meantime, we wanted to inform you of this new development at the earliest opportunity. We share this information out of a commitment to openness and respect for the families, two principles which have guided this investigation.Malaysia Airlines have already spoken to the families of the passengers and crew to inform them of this development. For them, the past few weeks have been heartbreaking; I know this news must be harder still. I urge the media to respect their privacy, and to allow them the space they need at this difficult time.Last Update on 25/03/2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — A new analysis of satellite data indicates the missing Malaysia Airlines plane crashed into a remote corner of the Indian Ocean, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak said Monday.

39.We are also ramping up the fight against corruption. Corruption is an age-old problem, and combating it is one of my priorities. If we are to succeed as a nation in this endeavour, we must work together across the political divide to make corruption socially unacceptable. In government, for example, procurement is now basically through open tender and competitive bidding. Corruption must be dealt with at all levels – not just the big fish, but also the low-level graft that affects people’s daily lives.

40. Some claim that if we could somehow stop corruption completely – overnight – we would not need subsidy reform or the GST. But we must be honest. We cannot click our fingers and make corruption disappear in a day, a month, or a year. And so we must tackle corruption, reform subsidies, and introduce the GST to make the budget balanced.

41. Take Hong Kong. In the 1970s, it was plagued by corruption; today, it is one of the least corrupt cities in the world. But this success was won over decades. Yes, we must tackle corruption – and yes, we must reform our finances. Unless we act on both fronts, our economy will weaken, and investors and lenders will think twice about investing in Malaysia.

Update on search for Malaysian flight MH370-jacc-ANGUS HOUSTON
Media Release-10 April 2014—pm

The Chief Coordinator of the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston (Ret'd), has confirmed that whilst conducting an acoustic search this afternoon a RAAF AP-3C Orion aircraft has detected a possible signal in the vicinity of the Australian Defence Vessel Ocean Shield.“The  acoustic data will require further analysis overnight but shows potential of being from a man-made source,” Air Chief Marshal Houston (Ret'd) said.“I will provide a further update if, and when, further information becomes available.”

New ping signals spark confidence in Malaysia Airlines search
By Matt Siegel and Swati Pandey-APR 09,14-YahooNews

SYDNEY/PERTH, Australia (Reuters) - Australian officials said on Wednesday two new "ping" signals had been detected in the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, boosting confidence after more than a month of fruitless searching for the missing jetliner. The signals, which could be from the plane's black box recorders, bring to four the number of overall "pings" detected in recent days within the search area by a U.S. Navy "Towed Pinger Locator"(TPL).Angus Houston, head of the Australian agency coordinating the search, struck an optimistic tone when announcing the information, but urged caution as the task of searching the remote Indian Ocean region remained enormous."I believe we are searching in the right area but we need to visually identify aircraft wreckage before we can confirm with certainty that this is the final resting place of MH370," Houston told reporters in the western Australian city of Perth."I'm now optimistic that we will find the aircraft, or what is left of the aircraft, in the not too distant future."The black boxes record cockpit data and may provide answers about what happened to the plane, which was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew when it vanished on March 8 and flew thousands of kilometers off its Kuala Lumpur-to-Beijing route. But the batteries in the beacons have already reached the end of their 30-day expected life, making efforts to swiftly locate them all the more critical.Authorities say evidence suggests the plane was deliberately diverted by someone familiar with the aircraft, but have not ruled out mechanical problems.Analysis of satellite data led investigators to conclude the Boeing 777 came down in a remote area of the Indian Ocean, some 2,261 km (1,405 miles) northwest of Perth.

FRESH PINGS BUT IN A LARGE AREA

Up to 11 military aircraft, four civilian aircraft and 14 ships were involved on with a massive search that has yielded frustratingly little concrete information. On the weekend, the sophisticated U.S. Navy TPL picked up what officials said were two signals consistent with black box locator beacons - the first for more than two hours and the second for about 13 minutes. On Wednesday, Houston said that another ping was detected on Tuesday afternoon and lasted five minutes, 25 seconds, while a second was picked up on Tuesday night and lasted seven minutes. That brings to four the number of pings found in the area. But two U.S. Navy officers told Reuters on Wednesday that while the pings had been found within a 1,300 square kilometer area, they were not confident that they represented recurrence of the same signal."I'd say they are separate acoustic events," said U.S. Navy Captain Mark Matthews, citing the fact that the pings were not close together." There has been variability in the geographic position which leads me to be less optimistic than I would be if I could consistently reacquire the signal so that I have a nice, small geographic area to focus the autonomous under water vehicle search on," he added. The process of teasing out those signals from the cacophony of background noise in the sea is a slow and exhausting process, experts say.Operators must separate a ping lasting just 9.3 milliseconds - a tenth of the blink of a human eye - and repeated every 1.08 seconds from natural ocean sounds, as well as disturbances from search vessels."The ocean is a noisy place," said Mike Davis-Marks, former commander of a sister vessel to British hunter-killer submarine HMS Tireless which has been dispatched to assist in the search."There is noise from everything, whether it's the ambient noise of the weather at the surface, or marine life like whales or the snapping noise of shrimps, not to mention other sea transport and low-flying aircraft."

A RACE AGAINST TIME

Although the batteries in the black box recorders are thought to have a lifespan of roughly 30 days, officials have said they can last for as long as two weeks beyond that time. That meant the search was becoming even more of a race against time, said Houston."I mean, we are looking at this stage for transmissions that are probably weaker than they would have been early on because the batteries of both devices are passed their use-by date and they will very shortly fail," he said.An autonomous underwater vehicle named Bluefin-21 is onboard the Australian navy vessel the Ocean Shield, which is helping in the search, and it could be sent to look for wreckage on the sea floor once the search area is narrowed down. The search could be conducted at a depth of about 4.5 km (2.8 miles), the outer reach of the Bluefin's range.Further complicating matters, Houston said, is that the ocean floor there is believed to be covered in a thick layer of silt that could further obscure what is already expected to eventually be a technically challenging visual search.Despite the new signals, Houston insisted that search teams should exhaust the capability of planes and vessels before deploying underwater vehicles."Bear in mind, that the time spent on the surface we're covering six times more area and any given time than we'll be able to do when we go underwater," Houston said."So with the batteries likely to fade or fail very shortly, we need to get as much positional data as we can so that we can define a very small search area."(Reporting by Matt Siegel in SYDNEY, Swati Pandey in PERTH, Tim Hepher; Editing by Michael Perry and Robert Birsel)

UK, Poland and Sweden propose EU police mission for Ukraine
Today @ 09:22-APR 10,15-YahooNews--By Andrew Rettman

BRUSSELS - The UK, Poland, and Sweden have proposed sending an EU police mission to Ukraine to build up its law enforcement bodies in the wake of February’s revolution.“Re-establishing confidence in the rule of law in Ukraine will be vital for future stability. We thus propose a capacity-building mission focused on supporting the police and judicial system,” they said in an informal paper circulated in Brussels this week. The paper, seen by EUobserver, notes the mission would focus on “monitoring, mentoring and advising” as well as “strategic advice”.It says: “While the mission should primarily focus on central government in Kiev, it should also have a remit to work in the regions, monitoring and providing advice on how to build a robust national system in the medium to long-term.”“This would provide a clearer idea of the pressures and challenges in the regions, and give a greater understanding of what is happening on the ground,” it adds.EU ambassadors discussed the idea on Wednesday. But the paper also calls on the EU’s foreign service to put the proposal on the agenda of a foreign ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.“In principle, launch of the mission should occur by June 2014 and a core team should deploy to Kiev as soon as possible after the FAC [the ministers’ meeting] to commence planning and co-ordination,” it says. The mission, under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) umbrella, would work together with the EU’s existing border-control operation in western Ukraine, the so-called Eubam. It would also work alongside a military monitoring mission already sent into the field by the OSCE, a multilateral body in Vienna, and alongside Nato experts working on Ukraine security sector reform.“A CSDP mission supporting the wider rule of law sector and civilian aspect of security would complement and reinforce these vital efforts; there would be no duplication of activity,” the informal paper notes. An EU diplomat told this website the idea was initially floated by the UK at a foreign ministers’ meeting in Athens last weekend, where it gained “some support”. Several EU countries, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, have voiced concern about taking steps that might antagonise Russia. The idea that the overthrow of former president Viktor Yanukovych has created lawlessness and exposed Russian-speakers in eastern and southern Ukraine to violence from nationalist self-defence squads is central to Russian propaganda justifying Russian intervention. But the EU diplomat said the CSDP proposal is not about Russia.“To a great extent, the Maidan [the popular anti-Yanukovych movement] was about the judicial system and rule of law in Ukraine, not just about the central government, so the new mission is designed primarily to address this,” the contact noted.“The experts on the ground would advise and mentor police chiefs, but also other institutions, such as the prosecutors’ services … The EU has real expertise in this field to offer to the new Ukrainian government and to the Ukrainian people.”

EZEKIEL 38:1-12

2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

Steinmeier disagrees with German business chiefs on Russia
Today @ 09:30-APR 10,14-EUOBSERVER-By Valentina Pop

Berlin - German politicians are divided into two broad categories: 'Russia understanders' and 'Russia critics'.The doveish Social-Democrats (SPD), including two former chancellors - Gerhard Schroeder and Helmut Schmidt, who voiced understanding for Putin's annexation of Crimea - are broadly considered to be 'Russia understanders'.But SPD foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Wednesday (9 April) surprised an audience of businessmen, diplomats and politicians from Russia and former Soviet countries in Berlin by disagreeing with speakers from the German business community. The event called "East Forum Berlin - opportunities for an economic area from Lisbon to Vladivostok" - was sponsored by Italian bank UniCredit, whose boss, Giuseppe Vita, cited Lenin in his opening speech and received scattered applause when he said no economic sanctions should be imposed on Russia.Eckhard Cortes, former CEO of Metro, the German retailer, now in charge of an association of German firms doing business in eastern Europe, also said the blame for the Ukraine conflict is shared by all parties - Russia, Ukraine and the EU.Steinmeier disagreed. "There cannot be a parallel economic world doing business as usual with Russia," he said."With all self-criticism that we can accept, it was illegal for Russia to redraw borders seven decades after the end of World War II. This not something we can accept and the vote in the UN Security Council proved that Russia alienated many friends," he added. He said he could understand the business community's desire not to impose economic sanctions on Russia, but said the German government was determined to take that path if Russia continued to stir up trouble in eastern Ukraine."The news from eastern Ukraine indicate that the situation is about to escalate, there are massive Russian troops on the border. Risk of open violence is very high," Steinmeier said.He pointed to the "superhuman task" of stabilising Ukraine's political and economic systems, given the years of corruption and mismanagement."There are no economic or political reasons for Russia to want the collapse of Ukraine," he noted.German efforts are now focusing on the creation of a contact group so that Ukraine and Russia can find a diplomatic solution."This is not about Germany being there in the room - it makes no difference who is the third party. The most important thing is to get this contact group, we are not there yet," Steinmeier said.Meanwhile, Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca noted that he was grateful to the EU commission and Romania for having started work on a multi-million euro interconnector which will allow Romania to export gas to Moldova. Currently, Moldova is 100 percent dependent on Russian gas imports. In another positive development, Moldovans will be able to travel visa-free to Europe just three weeks' time."Few thought this would be possible so quickly, but it is Moldova's reward for implementing all the requirements," Leanca said.He said Moldova's EU integration "is a modernisation project, not something directed against someone," even though the country has no EU membership perspective at the moment. The eastern Moldovan region of Transniestria, where Russia still has at least 10,000 soldiers, has submitted a request to be annexed by Russia. But Moscow has not yet replied.

10 Apr. 2014-NATO Secretary General discusses collective defence, defence investment and Ukraine crisis in Prague-NATO

The NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen discussed the Ukraine crisis with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Boshulav Sobotka during a visit to Prague on Thursday (10 April). “From Prague, I have this message to Russia. You have a choice. To stop blaming others for your own actions. To stop massing your troops. To stop escalating this crisis and start engaging in a genuine dialogue. If Russia is serious about a dialogue, the first step should be to pull back its troops”, the Secretary General said at a press conference with Prime Minister Sobotka.Visiting the Czech Republic as it celebrates the 15th anniversary of its accession to NATO, Mr Fogh Rasmussen praised the Czech Republic’s commitment to the Alliance: “Your troops have made a valuable contribution to our missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo. You are fully involved in our Smart Defence efforts to develop modern military capabilities together.” Referring to the crisis in Ukraine, Mr. Fogh Rasmussen said:“For the first time since countries like the Czech Republic won their freedom, and the Cold War ended, we see one state trying to grab part of another’s territory at gunpoint. As I speak, some 40,000 Russian troops are massed along Ukraine’s borders. Not training, but ready for combat. We have seen the satellite images, day after day. Russia is stirring up ethnic tensions in eastern Ukraine and provoking unrest. And Russia is using its military might to dictate that Ukraine should become a federal, neutral state. That is a decision which only Ukraine, as a sovereign state, can make. Nobody else”. Mr Fogh Rasmussen stressed that  NATO’s commitment to collective defence is unwavering and that the Alliance is  taking legitimate steps to deal with the instability that Russia’s illegitimate actions have created.Speaking about NATO’s Wales Summit in September, the Secretary General called on all NATO Allies to keep their  capabilities strong and enhance training for their forces. “Above all, we must stop the decline of our defence budgets. And start reinvesting in our security. Investing in defence has a cost. But we see that insecurity has a much higher price”, he said.

Russia says NATO is using Ukraine crisis to boost appeal
APR 10,14-Yahoonews

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's Foreign Ministry accused NATO on Thursday of using the crisis in Ukraine to boost its appeal to members and justify its existence by rallying them against an imaginary threat.Russia and the West are locked in a Cold War-style stand-off over Ukraine and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen told Moscow to pull back troops from the Ukrainian border or face consequences if they intervene. The ministry said Rasmussen's remarks were confrontational and that in recent months he had not offered "any constructive agenda" for Ukraine, adding that it was adding to instability in the region."The constant accusations against us by the secretary general convince us that the alliance is trying to use the crisis in Ukraine to rally its ranks in the face of an imaginary external threat to NATO members and to strengthen demand for the alliance ... in the 21st century," it said.NATO has suspended all practical military and civilian cooperation with Russia, although it said political dialogue could continue at ambassador level or higher, since Russia incorporated Ukraine's Crimea region last month. The Western military alliance has also limited access for Russian diplomat's to its headquarters and is reviewing a 1997 co-operation agreement with Russia and subsequent Rome declaration of 2002 that prevented it from setting up bases in eastern and central Europe.Russia has responded by accusing NATO of having a Cold War mentality and has expressed concern over the possibility of deploying the alliance's troops in eastern Europe permanently.(Reporting by Gabriela Baczynska, Editing by Elizabeth Piper)

10 Apr. 2014 - 10 years after NATO Membership – Defence Cooperation between Denmark and Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia-Speech by NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow at the Royal Danish Defence College in Copenhagen, Denmark

Ministers,-Excellencies,=Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me thank the Royal Danish Defence College and the Danish Atlantic Treaty Association for inviting me to today’s conference, which is very well timed. Let me start by conveying to you all Secretary General Rasmussen’s very best wishes.  He and I are invited to many meetings these days to reflect on NATO’s open door policy.  Of course, Anders gets to speak in Denmark all the time.  But it’s been a while since I was last here, and so I was very glad to accept your kind invitation – especially given the topic, NATO enlargement, which I was privileged to work on in the early days, 20 years ago, when I served on the National Security Council staff under President Clinton. He was one of the leaders who had the vision of a Europe whole, free and at peace, and the determination to defy the skeptics mentioned earlier by one of the ministers and to make it a reality.Ten years ago, with Denmark’s strong support, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were part of NATO’s “big bang” enlargement that brought in seven new Allies.  Five years earlier, we had already admitted three new Allies with the first post-Cold War round of NATO enlargement.  And in 2009, we took in two more countries to bring us to our current total of 28 Allies. The admission of these 12 members over the past 15 years has been a great success – first of all, for the countries themselves.  They rejoined the family of Western nations from which they had been so tragically separated half a century before.  By choosing to adopt NATO’s standards and principles, they gave their democracies the strongest possible security anchor.  And by pledging to defend and protect NATO, they received the pledge that NATO would defend and protect them, based on the principle that an attack on one is an attack on all.As an Alliance, we have been strengthened by the strong commitment of our 12 new members to our defining values – freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.  We have benefitted from their capabilities and their valuable contributions to our operations and exercises.  And we have benefited from the wealth of experience and insights that our new members have brought to the table.

Our three Baltic members were real providers of security even before they joined NATO 10 years ago.  As founding members of the Partnership for Peace in the 1990s, they made valuable contributions to our efforts to restore peace and stability in the Balkan region -- in some cases facilitated by Denmark.  They joined the International Security Assistance Force soon after NATO took command of the mission in 2003.  And they have continued to play a key role in making sure that Afghanistan will never again be a safe haven for terrorists, and in creating the conditions for the Afghan people to chart their own destiny on the basis of freedom and democracy.  All who have contributed to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan can take satisfaction at the successful first round of Presidential elections that took place last Saturday. But it is not just in operations that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have demonstrated their commitment to NATO.  They are also taking an active part in our political discussions, and they help to find, and to foster, the consensus that lies at the heart of everything that we do in NATO.  They have pushed allies to take more seriously some of the non-military challenges to our societies – such as cyber threats and energy security.  In the North Atlantic Council, the Baltic Permanent Representatives definitely punch above their weight! The positive effects of NATO enlargement have also been visible well beyond the Alliance.  Alongside the enlargement of the European Union, the increase in our NATO membership has helped to spread freedom, democracy and stability across this continent.  And it has brought us a lot closer to a Europe whole, free and at peace, which has been a longstanding goal of our Alliance.Today, the prospect of joining NATO continues to act as a strong incentive for aspirant nations to demonstrate responsibility and commitment, to stay on the path of democratic reform and reconciliation, and to find new solutions to old disputes.  And this process of individual nations working to meet the obligations and responsibilities of NATO membership is in itself contributing to greater stability. It is deeply regrettable that all that progress has now been overshadowed by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its readiness to use force to redraw borders, to destabilize its neighbors, and to create new dividing lines that would deprive sovereign states of the right to chart their own future.  NATO Allies have condemned Russia’s actions in the strongest possible terms, including at our Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels last week.  And we have also taken a number of concrete steps.    First, we have reaffirmed our full support for the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the inviolability of its internationally recognized borders.  In this regard, I’m confident that Allies will maintain a long-term “non-recognition” policy regarding Russia’s annexation of Crimea, just as Denmark (and my own country) did regarding the USSR's illegal incorporation of the Baltic States.

Second, we have agreed to strengthen our support for Ukraine through greater political and military cooperation.  At Ukraine’s request, we have already sent an expert team to provide advice on the protection of critical infrastructure.  We will also intensify our efforts to support Ukraine’s defence reforms, and to help the Ukrainian military transform into a more professional and effective force that can defend their country against external threats as well as contribute to NATO and other international operations.Third, we have suspended all practical civilian and military cooperation in the NATO-Russia Council framework, in tandem with the imposition of sanctions by our member states and the European Union.  We will maintain our political dialogue with the Russian Ambassador as necessary to allow us to exchange views on the current crisis and its resolution.  But business as usual is clearly not an option. Finally – and importantly given the Baltic focus of our meeting – we have underlined that NATO’s greatest responsibility is to protect and defend our territory and our people, and that the Alliance will come to the defence of any of its members, now and in the future. We have already reinforced NATO’s presence on the eastern borders of the Alliance.  We have begun surveillance flights over Poland and Romania.  We have more than doubled the number of fighter aircraft allocated to our air policing mission in the Baltic States.  Several European Allies have offered additional planes, air-to-air refueling tankers and other capabilities. In this regard, I welcome Minister Wammen's announcement about the provision of Danish F-16s to the mission.  And we will consider other short-term measures to strengthen deterrence and provide reassurance to our members on the front lines in the coming weeks.Over and above these immediate steps, we are also considering the longer-term implications of Russia’s recent actions for our defence cooperation in NATO.  Over the past two decades, we have focused on being able to deploy our forces on missions and operations far away from our own borders.  While we must continue to be ready for expeditionary operations, it is clear now that we need to take a closer look at how we can develop and deploy the right forces for defence and deterrence. That means, for example, that we need to review our defence posture and plans, so that we are fully prepared to respond quickly to the threat or use of force against any member or region of the Alliance , including scenarios where we have very little warning time..  We must review our threat assessments, intelligence-sharing arrangements, early-warning procedures, and crisis response planning, to take into account a more unpredictable security environment.  We should consider whether to bolster our Connected Forces Initiative through more frequent high-visibility exercises, including scenarios at the higher end of the military mission spectrum.  And we need to look at possible new deployments and other measures to provide reassurance to all our Allies. The crisis also requires that all of our member nations intensify their efforts to increase our defence capabilities, because credible defence and deterrence will require credible capabilities.  Even before the Ukraine crisis, we were already looking at ways to encourage multinational solutions to fill the capability gaps that have been highlighted in recent operations, and to ensure that the European members of the Alliance can shoulder a greater responsibility.  Our Smart Defence initiatives have been closely coordinated with the Pooling and Sharing initiative of the European Union.  We should consider now how we can place greater emphasis on requirements for defence and deterrence in that ongoing effort, and how we can further stimulate the involvement of smaller nations.

In this regard, the Framework Nations Concept could provide a way for the Baltic States to partner with Denmark, or with other larger allies, to address coherently and for the long-term, both capabilities and connectivity.  Our Baltic Allies already have a good record of working together and with other other countries in the Nordic region, for example the Brigade Project and some armaments cooperation projects..  This regional engagement is a pragmatic way to build greater security with limited means – and it strengthens both NATO and the EU. Building on what Minister Wammen said earlier, I would hope that, after the combined exercise now taking place among the Danish and Baltic brigades, our Baltic allies could take the next step: to commit a high-readiness land force division to one of the NATO multinational headquarters. Multinational cooperation can help in multiplying individual efforts.  But at the end of the day, credible defence and deterrence will require credible defence spending.  In the wake of the crisis over Ukraine, it’s time to halt and reverse the downward slide in defence spending that has characterized most allies over the past ten years.  Among the Baltic States, Estonia has been a notable exception, one of just three allies who meet the NATO target of 2 percent of GDP.  I’m pleased that, in recent weeks, Latvia and Lithuania have announced that they will step up their spending and meet the 2 percent goal by the end of the decade.  I hope and expect other Allies will follow that example as we all recover from the economic crisis. Finally, in the face of the challenge now posed by Russia, it is more important than ever that we remain committed to our vision of a Europe whole, free and at peace; that we uphold the principle that every nation is free to choose its own future; and that we keep our NATO door open for countries which decide that their future lies with our Alliance. Our next NATO Summit in Wales in September will be an important opportunity to demonstrate that determination.  We will show solidarity, unity of purpose, and our unbreakable commitment to Article 5 of our founding Treaty.  But we must also show a similarly strong commitment to Article 10 that affirms that our Alliance is open to the inclusion of new members which share our values, which are able to assume the responsibilities of membership, and which can contribute to security in the Euro-Atlantic area.  We want to offer encouragement and assistance to the four aspirant countries that are seeking membership. And we shall make clear that any decisions on their inclusion in our Alliance are for NATO members alone to take.  No third nation has a veto over such decisions.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

NATO will always protect and defend our territory and our people.  We will continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and all our other partners.  We will continue to respect their security choices.  And we will keep working with those countries that wish to move from partnership with NATO to membership in NATO. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia set a very strong example ten years ago.  Since then, they have consistently demonstrated that our Open Door policy is the right policy.  And I am confident that, by pursuing new forms of multinational defence cooperation, the Baltic States will play a key role in contributing to our collective security as we continue to pursue that policy in the future.

Peace talks can continue past April 29, says Abbas-Palestinian leader appears to pull back from looming crisis; Israeli official says prisoners can be released if PA halts international drive-By Times of Israel staff April 10, 2014, 10:18 am 6-The Times of Israel

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said Thursday that he was willing to continue peace talks with Israel past the current April 29 deadline. In an interview with the London-based Arabic daily A-Sharq al-Awsat, the Palestinian leader said the extension of the talks must be aimed at the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.A senior member of the PLO, however, denied the reports that Abbas agreed to extend talks with Israel. Wasel Abu-Youssef was quoted by Maariv saying that the Palestinian leadership had not yet met to deliberate on the matter and that there were conditions posed to the Israelis on which an extension of talks depended. An unnamed Israeli political source told Israel Radio that Jerusalem would release the fourth wave of Palestinian prisoners it refused to set free last week  on condition that the PA “freezes the situation” and commits to halt its drive for recognition by international organizations. Abbas’s statements came as the Arab League on Wednesday gave its own approval to the extension of talks in a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo, giving Abbas diplomatic backing for the move.Abbas also appeared to attempt to play down the significance of the Palestinian Authority’s application last month to 15 international treaties, saying such applications were a basic right of the Palestinian people and have nothing to do with Israel.Palestinian leaders have threatened Israel with unilateral action if talks failed to produce results, saying they were a first step in attempts to gain recognition of Palestinian statehood outside of bilateral negotiations. The Palestinian move led Israel to cut most official non-security contacts with the PA and raised calls from right-wing Knesset leaders to formally annex Israel’s West Bank settlements. On Wednesday, a senior Fatah official warned that Israeli punitive measures against the PA will lead to its collapse.Azzam Al-Ahmad said Israel and the US together would be responsible if the PA is toppled, and for the ramifications of such an eventuality, reported Israel Radio.A senior Israeli official said that Israel was seriously considering a drastic cut to the amount of tax money it collects and transfers to the PA in the wake of the latter’s application to various international frameworks.“We’re thinking of deducting from the PA’s budget the money they spend on terrorists and their families,” the senior official told The Times of Israel. “This step would be less dramatic than cutting entirely our monthly tax payments to the PA,” he said.Israel considers PA payments to Palestinian inmates in Israeli prisons and their families to be “funding terrorism,” the senior official said. In 2012, the PA Ministry of Prisoner Affairs transferred $75.5 million to terrorists imprisoned by Israel and their families, out of a total budget of $3.1 billion, according to Israeli government figures.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet decided to go ahead with the move, the official said, but as he considers various options to respond to the Palestinians’ unilateral steps, a partial freeze of the transfer of funds “could well be implemented.”The PA’s deputy prime minister, Mohammad Mustafa, warned that punitive Israeli measures would only lead to a deterioration of the current situation. He said the Palestinians were working to prevent Israel from freezing the PA’s tax money.Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli sources said that government officials had been ordered not to meet with their Palestinian counterparts. The order did not include contact between the Defense Ministry and the PA — which would have hindered security cooperation in the West Bank — or communications related to peace talks.

Israeli punitive measures will topple the PA’-Palestinian officials warn Jerusalem against cutting ties, freezing tax money in retaliation for Ramallah’s unilateral push for recognition-By Times of Israel staff April 10, 2014, 6:40 am 27

Israeli punitive measures against the Palestinian Authority will lead to its collapse, said a senior Fatah official on Wednesday.Azzam Al-Ahmad said Israel and the US together would be responsible if the PA is toppled, and for the ramifications of such an eventuality, reported Israel Radio. With peace talks all but dead, Jerusalem geared up Wednesday to penalize the Palestinians for applying to join 15 international treaties and conventions last week. A senior Israeli official said that Israel was seriously considering a drastic cut to the amount of tax money it collects and transfers to the PA.“We’re thinking of deducting from the PA’s budget the money they spend on terrorists and their families,” the senior official told The Times of Israel. “This step would be less dramatic than cutting entirely our monthly tax payments to the PA,” he said.Israel considers PA payments to Palestinian inmates in Israeli prisons and their families to be “funding terrorism,” the senior official said. In 2012, the PA Ministry of Prisoner Affairs transferred $75.5 million to terrorists serving in Israeli prisoners and their families, out of a total budget of $3.1 billion, according to Israeli government figures.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not yet decided to go ahead with the move, the official said, but as he considers various options to respond to the Palestinians’ unilateral steps, a partial freeze of the transfer of funds “could well be implemented.”The PA’s deputy prime minister, Mohammad Mustafa, warned that punitive Israeli measures would only lead to a deterioration of the current situation. He said the Palestinians were working to prevent Israel from freezing the PA’s tax money, according to Israel Radio. Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli sources said that government officials had been ordered not to meet with their Palestinian counterparts. The order did not include contact between the Defense Ministry and the PA — which would have hindered security cooperation in the West Bank — or communications related to peace talks.Israeli and Palestinian negotiators were due to meet once again on Thursday, along with their American intermediaries, in an effort to prevent a total breakdown.Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett, however, urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday to turn his back on the failed negotiations and annex portions of the West Bank.In a letter to Netanyahu, Bennett requested “to have a session as soon as possible on an alternative plan (Plan B) to begin the process of applying Israeli sovereignty on areas in Judea and Samaria that are under Israeli control.”The economy minister listed some of the blocs he wants to annex, including Gush Etzion, Maale Adumim, the settlements of Ofra and Beit El and more. These areas are home to 440,000 Israeli settlers, Bennett argued, and only tens of thousands of Palestinians, and would therefore not cause a demographic crisis and undermine the Jewish majority.“These areas enjoy a broad national consensus and have security, historical, and moral significance for the State of Israel,” he wrote.Bennett compared the process of absorbing these areas into Israel to the incorporation of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War, and the Golan Heights during then-prime minister Menachem Begin’s reign. The economy minister also declared the death of the peace negotiations, due to “a new record of [Palestinian] extortion and obstinacy.” Despite Israeli overtures, such as the release of prisoners, the Palestinians continue to deny recognition of Israel as a Jewish state; have violated the Oslo Accords by turning to the UN; and continue the incitement to violence against Israel, Bennett wrote.“In light of all this, it is clear the current process has run its course and that we are entering a new era,” he said. Responding to Kerry’s statements that construction in East Jerusalem led to the current impasse Tuesday, Bennett said “Israel will never apologize for building in Jerusalem.”“For many years people have tried to prevent us from living in the eternal capital of the Jewish people. This won’t happen. Building in Jerusalem is not a ‘puff’ [sic], building in Jerusalem is Zionism,” he said in a statement posted to Facebook.Raphael Ahren and Marissa Newman contributed to this report.

Israeli minister urges Netanyahu to annex settlements
By Crispian Balmer 2 hours ago-APR 10,14-Yahoonews

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A senior Israeli minister has urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex a swathe of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, saying peace talks with the Palestinians were dead. The U.S.-backed negotiations came close to collapse last week amidst mutual recrimination and although the two sides are seeking to overcome the crisis, Netanyahu has already started to impose punitive sanctions on the Palestinians.Economy Minister Naftali Bennett, who is head of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party, wrote to the prime minister late on Wednesday saying Israel should extend its sovereign territory to a number of major settlement blocs.Mega settlements, such as Ma'ale Adumin, are built on land seized in the 1967 war - territory the Palestinians want for their future state. Successive governments have said the blocs, deemed illegal under international law, should remain part of Israel in any negotiated deal with the Palestinians."It is clear that the current process has exhausted itself and that we are entering a new era," said Bennett, urging Netanyahu to annex a number of large settlements."These are areas which enjoy a wide national consensus, have security implications and have historical significance for the State of Israel."A high-tech entrepreneur and a former settler leader, Bennett has called in the past for annexing a much larger part of the West Bank and is a long-time opponent of any deal that would grant the Palestinians a state. Netanyahu made no comment on Bennett's request, but is likely to face strident calls from within his own rightist Likud party to annex the blocs, home to an estimated 350,000 Israelis, if the latest peace talks implode. However, such a move would almost certainly set off a storm of international condemnation, and Israel's chief negotiator, Tzipi Livni, said Bennett was acting like a "provocative child" who needed parental restraint."If you want to go totally crazy, keep it up until we can no longer make a deal and lose everything we hold dear," Livni, who serves as justice minister, wrote on her Facebook page.

AGGRAVATION

Israel has already annexed part of its 1967 gains: the Golan Heights that border Syria, and East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as their capital. Neither move has been recognised internationally.Settlements have been a constant source of aggravation between Israelis and Palestinians, with construction of new Jewish homes in the West Bank rising 123 percent year-on-year in 2013, a surge that coincided with the resumption of talks.U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said this week that the announcement last week of tenders for 700 new homes in East Jerusalem was the immediate cause of the negotiations crisis. An official in Netanyahu's office said Israel was "deeply disappointed" by Kerry's remarks, signalling clear tensions in relations between the two allies. The prime minister has pinned the blame on President Mahmoud Abbas for signing last week 15 international conventions, saying this broke his prior commitment not to take unilateral steps to bolster Palestinian statehood while talks were under way.As initial punitive action, Netanyahu ordered on Wednesday a partial freeze on contacts with the Palestinians. However, the two negotiating teams were due to meet later on Thursday to seek a way to prolong their talks beyond April.(Additional reporting by Jeffrey Heller; Editing by Robin Pomeroy)

Israel launches new spy satellite-APR 10,14-Yahoonews

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's Defense Ministry said on Thursday that it has successfully launched a new observation satellite into orbit, one which is expected to be used to observe Iran and hostile militant groups in the Middle East.According to the announcement, the Israeli-made "Ofek 10" satellite was launched late Wednesday in cooperation with state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries. The satellite has already begun transmitting data and visual material. It is expected to be operational within months.Israel is expected to use the satellite to keep tabs on Iran and the region. It believes Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon — a charge Iran denies — and accuses it of arming militants across the region. The Ofek 10 is the latest in a line of spy satellites built by Israel Aerospace Industries for the government. It is a lightweight satellite that is expected to improve Israel's reconnaissance abilities by providing sharp images at any time of day, and in any weather condition, said Ofer Doron of Israel Aerospace Industries."The Ofek 10 satellite should improve Israel's intelligence capability and allow the defense establishment to better deal with threats near and far," said Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon in a statement."We are continuing to strengthen our tremendous qualitative and technological advantage over our neighbors," Yaalon added. The satellite has the capability to direct its imaging radar on a specific target, as opposed to other satellites that perform a general sweep of territory."It has an incredible imaging capability...to give very precise photos," said Doron.Unlike other countries that launch satellites eastward in the direction of the earth's orbit, Israel launched the satellite westward, opposite the direction of the earth's orbit, to prevent debris following the launch to land in enemy countries east of Israel, said Doron. The satellite completes a full orbit around the earth every 90 minutes, said Doron.

IDF, Gaza gunmen exchange fire across border-Earlier Thursday, two Palestinians wounded in march on Israeli border; Hamas disbands tunnel inspectors due to Egypt crackdown-By Times of Israel staff April 10, 2014, 12:23 pm Updated: April 10, 2014, 1:16 pm 1-The Times of Israel

Palestinian gunmen on Thursday fired mortars at IDF soldiers patrolling along the border with the Gaza Strip. The soldiers returned fire into Gaza. There were no reports of casualties in the exchange.According to the IDF, the incident, which took place along Gaza’s southern border, marks the latest in a series of cross-border altercations over the past week.In another incident earlier on Thursday, two Palestinians were lightly injured by Israeli fire as they approached the border fence in northern Gaza, near the Erez crossing with Israel, Palestinian media reported. The two were taking part in a demonstration that marched into the buffer zone between Gaza and the Israeli border. IDF troops ordered the crowd to stop, and opened fire at the legs of those who continued to approach the border fence. The wounded were taken to a nearby Palestinian hospital, according to reports.Earlier on Thursday morning, an explosion was reported inside Gaza, which the IDF said was apparently a mortar shell that may have accidentally fallen inside Palestinian territory. And on Monday, IDF troops heard an explosion on the fence near Thursday’s demonstration. Two figures were identified planting the explosive device on the fence in an operation apparently targeting IDF patrols along the fence.

No IDF troops were hurt in any of the incidents.

Also Thursday, the Hamas government ruling the Gaza Strip announced it was disbanding its customs and inspection service overseeing the tunnels smuggling goods beneath the Egyptian border, Israel Radio reported.A spokesman for the Hamas government said the tunnels had ceased to function due to an intensive months-long crackdown on the smuggling operations by Egyptian security forces in the Sinai Peninsula, making the inspection service “superfluous.”

04/ 9/2014 - THE VATICAN INSIDER-Louvre scraps section on Eastern Christianity-Paris, Louvre-The section was inaugurated under the Sarkozy presidency in 2010, as a tribute to the Byzantine heritage but the Hollande's Ministry of Culture has given other projects priority over this one-Giorgio Bernardelli

Rome-“The Louvre will be dedicating a new section to the Artistic heritage of Eastern Christians, the Byzantine Empire and the slaves,” Nicholas Sarkozy announced back in January 2010. Just a few months later, the former president of the prestigious Parisian museum – Henri Loyerette – set out a plan and time frame for the initiative: “It will occupy a 1000 m² space of exhibition rooms previously allocated to the Islamic art section (which in 2012 was moved to another part of the Louvre, Ed.) and visitors will have access to it as of 2014,” he explained. Now 2014 is here and not only has the project not gone ahead, it was completely scrapped by the museum’s new management, with the approval of François Hollande’s culture ministry. Professor Marie-Hélène Rutschowscaya – former head of the Louvre’s Coptic section and one of the world’s top scholars specialising in the treasures of Eastern Christianity – denounced the move in an open letter to French Catholic newspaper La Croix. The scholar explained that the Louvre has decided to use the vacant exhibition halls previously dedicated to Islamic art, as welcome areas for school group visits to the museum. This meant shelving the idea of putting on show the precious treasures of Eastern Christianity which the museum possesses. These are currently spread across different sections and some are even sitting in boxes in the museum’s warehouses.Professor Rutschowscaya is frank in saying that the Louvre’s decision constitutes a secularist cultural prejudice by the Hollande government. Shouldn’t we condemn the fact that France has decided to adopt such a cold cultural policy towards countries whose culture has been deeply marked by Byzantine and post-Byzantine era Christianity leaving our Medieval West with such a rich legacy? The dramatic events we are currently seeing in the Middle East and Eastern Europe should instead spur us to do more to promote lasting cultural ties,” the professor wrote in her letter. In an interview with La Croix, the current president of the Louvre, Jean-Luc Martinez, justified the decision by claiming that the creation of a new section on Eastern Christianity would have involved a lengthy rethinking of the use of the current spaces (though this did not prevent the Louvre from launching the Islamic art section back in 2003).  Martinez said he was generally in favour of the idea of grouping Byzantine art into one single section of the museum but he added that the priority today is to sort out the public’s access to the spaces in the pyramid. Work on these will begin in July and last two years, so the Byzantine art will have to wait, at least until 2017.Besides the cultural war, this whole affair seems set to dig the knife deeper into the wounded relations between France and Eastern Christians. Since 1500, the Sultans of the East gave entrusted the kings of Paris with the task of protecting the rights of Christian communities in The Middle East. This is partly why François Hollande’s support to the Syrian opposition forces fighting the Bashar al Assad regime, was seen by most Eastern Christians as a nod to Islamist militias. When Hervé Magro took up his new post as French consul general in Jerusalem he hastened to underline how important the role of protector of Middle Eastern Christians really was to France and that the memory of this lives on. But for now, the museum that represents the highest temple of French culture seems to have put this memory on hold. Despite the ordeal Eastern Christians are currently experiencing first hand.

HEARTBLEED CYBER BUG

JEWISH KING JESUS IS COMING AT THE RAPTURE FOR US IN THE CLOUDS-DON'T MISS IT FOR THE WORLD.THE BIBLE TAKEN LITERALLY- WHEN THE PLAIN SENSE MAKES GOOD SENSE-SEEK NO OTHER SENSE-LEST YOU END UP IN NONSENSE.

ISN'T THIS INTERESTING.MICROSOFT YESTERDAY STOPPED PROTECTING WINDOWS XP.AND THEN THIS CYBER BUG HEARTBLEED BUG SUDDENLY TURNS UP YESTERDAY.DO WE SEE CONNECTIONS HERE.MICROSOFT CAN GRAB ALL OUR INFORMATION UNDER THE GUISE OF THIS CYBER BUG.THIS BUG IS AFFECTING CANADAS INCOMETAX DATA AND ALL AROUND THE WORLDS COMPUTERS. CANADAS INcomeTAX SITE IS CLOSED AS A RESULT ONLINE.

Heartbleed’ Bug Exposes Passwords, Web Site Encryption Keys

Researchers have uncovered an extremely critical vulnerability in recent versions of OpenSSL, a technology that allows millions of Web sites to encrypt communications with visitors. Complicating matters further is the release of a simple exploit that can be used to steal usernames and passwords from vulnerable sites, as well as private keys that sites use to encrypt and decrypt sensitive data.“The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the names and passwords of the users and the actual content. This allows attackers to eavesdrop communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users.”An advisory from Carnegie Mellon University’s CERT notes that the vulnerability is present in sites powered by OpenSSL versions 1.0.1 through 1.0.1f. According to Netcraft, a company that monitors the technology used by various Web sites, more than a half million sites are currently vulnerable. As of this morning, that included Yahoo.com, and — ironically — the Web site of openssl.org. This list at Github appears to be a relatively recent test for the presence of this vulnerability in the top 1,000 sites as indexed by Web-ranking firm Alexa. An easy-to-use exploit that is being widely traded online allows an attacker to retrieve private memory of an application that uses the vulnerable OpenSSL “libssl” library in chunks of 64kb at a time. As CERT notes, an attacker can repeatedly leverage the vulnerability to retrieve as many 64k chunks of memory as are necessary to retrieve the intended secrets.Jamie Blasco, director of AlienVault Labs, said this bug has “epic repercussions” because not only does it expose passwords and cryptographic keys, but in order to ensure that attackers won’t be able to use any data that does get compromised by this flaw, affected providers have to replace the private keys and certificates after patching the vulnerable OpenSSL service for each of the services that are using the OpenSSL library [full disclosure: AlienVault is an advertiser on this blog].It is likely that a great many Internet users will be asked to change their passwords this week (I hope). Meantime, companies and organizations running vulnerable versions should upgrade to the latest iteration of OpenSSL - OpenSSL 1.0.1g — as quickly as possible.Update, 2:26 p.m.: It appears that this Github page allows visitors to test whether a site is vulnerable to this bug (hat tip to Sandro Süffert).

Tax services may be offline until weekend because of Heartbleed bug-TU THANH HA, BILL CURRY And ADRIAN MORROW-The Globe and Mail-Wednesday, Apr. 09 2014, 4:35 PM EDT

The Canada Revenue Agency probably won’t have tax services back online until at least the weekend after shutting down public access on Tuesday evening in response to a major international security glitch. The agency made the move just three weeks ahead of the April 30 deadline for filing personal income tax returns.Private security researchers announced on Monday the discovery of Heartbleed, a massive Internet encryption flaw that exposed millions of passwords and had been undetected for more than two years.“We are currently working on a remedy for restoring online services and, at this time, anticipate that services will resume over the weekend,” the agency said in an updated statement posted at 3 p.m. Wednesday.“The CRA recognizes that this problem may represent a significant inconvenience for individual Canadians who count on the CRA for online information and services. Recognizing this, the Minister of National Revenue has confirmed that individual taxpayers will not be penalized for this service interruption,” the agency said. The impact of the bug could soon lead to a much wider shutdown of federal government services. A government official told The Globe and Mail that other federal departments are “on an urgent basis” deciding whether they should follow the CRA in pulling its online options. The official described the bug as one of the most serious security flaws uncovered in recent years and said Heartbleed has the capacity to reveal the sensitive contents of a server’s memory. The federal government is likely going through its inventory of servers to decide which websites need to be dealt with first, said cybersecurity expert Raymond Vankrimpen “They’ve obviously identified this CRA website as a critical one to take offline. But I have no doubt that there are other government websites that use SSL technology,” said Mr. Vankrimpen, a partner at the financial advisory firm Richter.“They’re probably triaging everything.”

WHAT IS HEARTBLEED?

The Heartbleed bug affects a common cryptographic program called OpenSSL, and specifically how OpenSSL is used in combination with a communication protocol called the RFC6520 heartbeat.Such “ heartbeats” help a remote user remain in touch after connecting with a website server, Mr. Vankrimpen said.Because of a coding flaw, a small chunk of the server’s memory content, about 64 kilobytes of memory, can leak out with each heartbeat. While 64 kilobytes doesn’t represent a large amount of memory content, it is large enough to hold a password or an encryption key, allowing an unscrupulous user to return to exploit the server further.“Once you have the encryption key, then you have the keys to the kingdom,” Mr. Vankrimpen said.Servers at the CRA run on a common hosting software called Apache, which uses OpenSSL, though it is not known if they rely on the RFC6520 heartbeat.

ANXIETY IN ONTARIO

The Ontario government confirmed that it uses OpenSSL, but it said it has not found that any information is at risk of getting hacked as a result of Heartbleed.“As of right now, we have not seen any data, personal information or servers compromised as a result of the software flaw that has affected the federal government,” said Jenna Mannone, a spokeswoman for Government Services Minister John Milloy, whose ministry oversees the collection of information for such things as health cards and drivers’ licences. She said IT staff are taking a close look at the system.“The Ontario government does use OpenSSL software and is aware of the reported software flaw,” Ms. Mannone wrote in an e-mail. “As a result, government IT experts immediately acted to look into the matter, and are working to ensure that all data and information remains protected.”

HOW IS THE CRA AFFECTED?

The CRA temporarily shut down public access to its online services late Tuesday evening and issued a public notice on its website Wednesday morning. The notice said that affected online services include EFILE, NETFILE and My Account, which taxpayers would normally access their account to track their refund or check their RRSP limit. The shutdown also affects business accounts. While promising to resume the online services as soon as possible, the CRA said that it would give consideration to taxpayers who are unable to meet filing deadlines. The shutdown will not affect appointments at the more than 1,000 Canadian offices of H&R Block, a leading tax preparer, according to the company’s senior tax analyst, Cleo Hamel.Ms. Hamel said tax returns will be prepared and then filed later when the electronic filing option is back online. If the shutdown turns out to be prolonged, other options would be used.“If we have to print them all off and take them into the CRA ourselves, we’ll do that,” she said. “I would anticipate within a couple of days or less this will get rectified.”Ms. Hamel noted that the CRA had a temporary shutdown during tax time in 2008 and it did not cause major problems. While Revenue Minister Kerry-Lynne Findlay said the agency is acting out of precaution, her U.S. counterpart is not making any changes in response to the bug.Bruce Friedland, a spokesman for the Internal Revenue Service, said the IRS continues to accept tax returns as normal as it approaches its April 15 tax deadline.“Our systems continue operating and are not affected by this virus, and we are not aware of any security vulnerabilities related to this situation. We continue to monitor the situation and remain in contact with our software partners. The IRS advises taxpayers to continue filing their tax returns as they normally would,” he said in an e-mail.

• Teenager conducted attack with two knives about 7:15 a.m.
• 20 people hurt, including security guard
• Assistant principal tackled suspect; another student pulled fire alarm
EMS, police: Incident over, prayers are with victims
• Suspect, 16, taken for medical evaluation

Twenty people were injured — four critically — when a teenager wielding two knives started attacking students at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Murrysville. All of the injured were students with the exception of an adult security guard.Westmoreland County public safety spokesman Dan Stevens said the suspect, a 16-year-old, is in custody and was questioned by Murrysville police and Westmoreland County detectives before being taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries to his hands.Authorities said the teen showed two knives in the attacks, but they didn't say what kind or why. Murrysville police Chief Thomas Seefeld said a motive is still unclear."We don't know what led up to this," he said.A witness said the suspect was tackled by assistant principal Sam King. The chief said the 20 injured were either slashed or stabbed and four are in critical condition."We're praying and hoping the best for all the victims," he said.Four students were flown to hospitals by medical helicopter. Eight victims were taken to Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Seven of those injured were between the ages of 15 and 17; one was an adult, according to Forbes trauma surgeon Christoph Kaufman, who described the injuries as ranging “superficial to some quite serious.”The security guard was slashed or stabbed in the stomach, the chief said.Dr. Timothy Van Fleet, of the department of emergency medicine at UPMC, said six victims were brought to UPMC East and one was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC. Four of the victims were treated and released, and one was undergoing plastic surgery for facial lacerations and is expected to be treated and released later today. One student was treated and released at UPMC Mercy. Five — including the victim transferred from UPMC East — were at Children’s Hospital, where one was in critical condition, two were in serious condition, and two were fair.

UPMC Presbyterian had one victim in critical condition.

One 15-year-old girl, Ariana Schofield of Export, was flown from the school to Allegheny General Hospital, where she was treated and released.According to the state Department of Education, Franklin Regional Senior High School has an enrollment of 1,222.Just before 7:15 a.m., a school resource officer asked for medical assistance at the school for a stabbing. The students were injured in several first-floor classrooms and in the hallways before the classes started, Mr. Stevens said.Gracey Evans, a junior from Murrysville, said she arrived at the school around 6:50 a.m. Around 20 minutes later, as she stood in the sophomore hall while her best friend stopped at his locker, she heard another student say something about blood."I saw this kid in all black running down the hallway, stabbing," said Ms. Evans. "He was just stabbing everybody that was in his way."Her friend was stabbed in the back, she said, and a nearby student was stabbed in the stomach. Then somebody pulled a fire alarm as the perpetrator ran off, and a teacher ordered all of the kids into a classroom."My friend was on his stomach, and the other kid who was severely injured was told to sit up. I knew that wasn't right."I said to a few students, we need pressure on this wound, and they gave me some paper towels, and I held pressure on that wound for about 10 minutes, and he started barfing."

She was overcome by the smell.

"Probably 30 seconds later an actual EMT came into the room and helped," she said. "I hear my best friend start screaming in pain. ... I held his hand."She was taken with her injured friends to Forbes Regional Hospital, where social workers attended to her. "They told me I was a real hero. I was just freaking out because I was so traumatized."I'm still shaking. I was crying. Then the mother of the boy that I helped comes in, and she saw me and she just started crying, and I said to her, 'I saved your son,' and she started crying some more."School director Roberta Cook said the district has done extensive training for a mass casualty at the schools."This is the training that you hope you never have to use. But everyone is doing what they are supposed to do. The administrators and the first-responders are doing what they need to do," Mrs. Cook said.Although she had not received any official information as a board members, she said other reports she heard indicating the incident happened before classes started means that it happened at one of the most vulnerable times of day."Once the students are in the building and in classes we can go into lockdown. But before school starts it's hard to completely secure the building," Mrs. Cook said. Most of the training done in the district focused on an active shooter, not someone with a knife, she said. When Ms. Cook heard that someone pulled the fire alarm after the stabbing started, she said that action would have followed the training."This is terribly unfortunate. I hope that all of the students are OK," Mrs. Cook said.Franklin Regional High School has no metal detectors, but it has a reputation as a relatively safe school. Its most recent state Safe Schools report shows 17 reportable incidents in 2012-13, none of them involving weapons. The report notes that there were no arrests and no incidents involving local police. The most common reportable incident was fights, for which there were eight.Parents of the injured students are being contacted. Parents of other students were asked to go to Heritage Elementary, also in Murrysville, to pick up their children.

The FBI is on the scene.

Meanwhile, two Murrysville police officers were stationed about 11 a.m. outside the home of the suspect, a two-story house with tan siding and tan brick in a cul de sac. The family has not responded to calls and was not at the house. Next-door neighbors Sonya and John Kokalis said the neighborhood was built about 13 years ago and they and the suspect's family moved in around that time.Ms. Kokalis said she saw the suspect's parents around 8:30 a.m. and at that point, "They didn't know anything."She described them as a "nice family.""It's surreal," she said. "You see this and it happens other places. ... It's not sinking in."We're providing free access to our coverage of the Franklin Regional high school stabbings today.

THE MISSING PLANE MH370 SITUATION AT 12:03AM WED APR 09,2014

NOW WE HAVE HAD NO PING HITS SINCE CHINA ON APR 5 AND AUSTRALIA ON APR 6,14.COULD THE COVERUP COUNTRY OF THE KIDNAPPING.HAVE THROWN 2 BLACK BOXES IN THE INDIAN OCEAN SO AUSTRALIA IS PREOCCUPIED FOR A FEW WEEKS SO THE CRIMINAL COUNTRY CAN SETUP THE NEXT DECEPTION IN THIS VERY MYSTEROUS CRONTRIVED-MANIPULATED KIDNAPPING.THEN AFTER APR 6-THE CRIMINAL COUNTRY DISHED THE BLACK BOXES BACK OUT OF THE OCEAN.AND AUSTRALIA WILL BE SEARCHING IN THE AREA FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG.THIS IS TO FISHY-NO DEBRIS BUT STUMBLE UPON THE BLACK BOXED.THEM ODDS ARE TRILLIONS TO ONE. WHY WOULD AUSTRALIA NOT HAVE KEPT TRACK AND START MAPPING THE FIRST SOUND OF THE PING FOR THE 2 HOURS.THEY SHOULD HAVE MAPPED IT ALL OUT-THEN THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN WERE TO DROP THAT SUBMARINE APR 6TH ALREAD.AND THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER PING TO OCCUR.HERE AGAIN IS ANOTHER FACT THAT DOES NOT ADD UP IN THIS MISSING KIDNAPPED CITIZENS OF MH370.

WE FIND OUT THE CHINA DETECTION OF THEIR PINGS ARE RULED OUT AS NOT LEGIT.I STILL SAY ONE OF THE COUNTRIES INVOLVED IN THIS RECOVERY IS INVOLVED IN THE COVERUP KIDNAPPING AND LEADING THE REST OF THE COUNTRIES ASTRAY.WE WILL NEVER FIND THAT PLANE IN THE OCEAN-I STILL SAY.AND WHAT IF THE CRIMINAL COUNTRY IS TRYING TO BREAK SOME OF THE COUNTRIES INVOLVED IN THE SEARCH. THE MONEY THESE COUNTRIES ARE USING IS INCREDIBLE.SO THE CRIMINAL COUNTRY IS BREAKING COUNTRIES-DISTRACTING COUNTRIES ARMIES AND HURTING A LOT OF INNOCENT LOVED ONES OF THE KIDNAPPED CITIZENS.

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

THE MISSING PLANE MH370 SITUATION AT 11:40PM TUE APR 08,2014

THE UPDATE BY ANGUS TONIGHT SHOWED 2 MORE PING HITS.BUT HE WILL NOT CONFIRM IT IS MH370 UNTIL HE CAN TAKE A PICTURE OF THE PLANE FOR THE FAMILIES TO SEE.THEN HE WILL SAY IT IS MH370.BUT THIS WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS AT LEAST YET.THEN MAYBE THE FAMILIES CAN START THEIR LIFE RECOVERY HEALING.

THE MISSING PLANE MH370 SITUATION AT 6:00AM WED APR 09,2014

Transcript of Press Conference, 9 April 2014-Angus Houston-JACC
Angus Houston: Good Morning. I'm accompanied by the same team as on previous occasions, and I'm pleased to be here to brief you today.Today I can report some further encouraging information regarding the search for missing flight MH370. On Monday I advised that the Towed Pinger Locator deployed by the Ocean Shield had detected signals consistent with those emitted by aircraft black boxes on two separate occasions. I can now tell you that Ocean Shield has been able to re-acquire the signals on two more occasion—late yesterday afternoon and late last night, Perth time. The detection yesterday afternoon was held for approximately five minutes and 32 seconds. The detection late last night was held for approximately seven minutes. Ocean Shield has now detected four transmissions in the same broad area. Yesterday's signals will assist in better defining a reduced and much more manageable search area on the ocean floor. I believe we are searching in the right area, but we need to visually identify aircraft wreckage before we can confirm with certainty that this is the final resting place of MH370. For the sake of the 239 families, this is absolutely imperative.Today the Ocean Shield is continuing the slow, painstaking and methodical work to refine the location around the four acoustic detections. We are not yet at the point of deploying the autonomous underwater vehicle. The better Ocean Shield can define the area, the easier it will be for the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle to subsequently search for aircraft wreckage. It is important to note that Ocean Shield can search six times the amount of area with a Towed Pinger Locator than can be done with the sonar on the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. Searching underwater is an extremely laborious task, so the more work we can do on the surface with the Towed Pinger Locator to fix the position of the transmission, the less work we will have to do below the surface, scouring the sea floor. Given the guaranteed shelf life of the pinger batteries is 30 day and it is now 33 days since the aircraft went missing, it is important that we gather as much information to fix the possible location of the aircraft while the pingers are still transmitting. In further promising information, we have received the results of the data analysis conducted on the signals detected by Ocean Shield on the first two occasions. This data analysis was conducted by the Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre based at HMAS Albatross in Nowra, NSW. It is the Australian Defence Force's centre of excellence for acoustic analysis.

The analysis determined that a very stable, distinct, and clear signal was detected at 33.331 kilohertz and that it consistently pulsed at a 1.106 second interval. They, therefore, assess that the transmission was not of natural origin and was likely sourced from specific electronic equipment. They believe the signals to be consistent with the specification and description of a Flight Data Recorder.Up to 11 military aircraft, four civil aircraft, and up to 14 ships will assist in today's search. A modified RAAF AP-3C will coordinate with Ocean Shield in conducting a sonar buoy search in the same vicinity. Today a weak front is moving in from the south-east and is expected to bring scattered showers. The planned search area is about 75,000 square kilometres. You may have noticed the size of the search area has significantly reduced over the last couple of days.Based on Ocean Shield's detections, we are now searching a much more concentrated area based on the drift predications made possible by Ocean Shield's detections. The smaller area has also allowed to us to plan much tighter search patterns, based entirely on visual search principles. In other words, we have intensified our search in the visual search area.Just a bit of housekeeping. At my last press conference, I said I would come back to you with the precise timings of when the signals were detected by the Ocean Shield. The first detection took place on Saturday 5 April at 4:45pm, Perth time. The second detection took place on Saturday 5 April at 9:27pm, Perth time. The third detection took place on Tuesday 8 April at 4:27pm, Perth time. The fourth detection took place on Tuesday 8 April at 10:17pm, Perth time.I'm now happy to take your questions, but before I do that, I would refer you to the diagram there which shows you where all the detections were made, and I would also highlight to you the satellite handshake calculation number seven. That was the handshake which was a partial ping, where the experts in Kuala Lumpur assess that the aircraft might have—plane engines might have flamed out, and it's probably significant in terms of the end of powered flight.

Flight MH370 and the impact of loss-How does grief affect when you don’t know if your loved one is dead or alive?-By Anupa Kurian, Readers Editor-April 7, 2014-Gulfnews.com
Dubai: It’s what we fear most, other than our own death, the loss of a loved one. And what happens if that loss is from an unexplained disappearance? There were 239 people on-board the missing Malaysian aircraft MH370. What is the biopsychosocial impact of that? “It’s the worst kind of scenario … similar to what people experienced during 9/11,” Martin Kramar, clinical psychologist at Health Call Clinic in Dubai Healthcare City, told Gulf News.He explained that for many who lost their family members on-board those aircraft and in the World Trade Centre towers took weeks to receive closure.Similarly, in the case of MH370, not knowing what has happened has only served to prolong the period of mourning.“The bodies have not been found giving families hope that people might still be alive. There has not been acceptance of death.”Kramar said that the most immediate impact of this would be lowered immunity from stress, depression and anxiety.Added to this are panic attacks that could last for over a year, as per a report on the American Psychological Association’s website, featuring research by psychiatrist Selby Jacobs of Yale University. And this is a relatively normal manifestation of grief.Christina Burmeister, counselling psychologist at the UAE-based German Neuroscience Center, explained that the current scenario creates a complex sense of guilt.

Stages of grief

“When somebody dies and you go through the burial process and the rituals associated, it allows you to start the grieving process and deal with the loss. You undergo the five stages of grief as per the Kuebler-Ross model, which are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance.“The not knowing is the worst part because you might start grieving but you feel guilty that you are giving up on people, and you bounce back and forth,” she said. The report on the APA website talked about work by psychiatrist Colin Murray Parkes, who “has found that mortality among surviving spouses in the six months following a loss increases 40 to 70 per cent compared with the general population”.Burmeister said that it is possible to die of a “broken heart” as a romantic notion. However, the medical perspective is that as a direct result of the death of a loved one, a person’s system undergoes severe physical stress, which can affect the heart, increase cholesterol, lead to hypertension, along with manifesting symptoms of depression.“You are not taking care of yourself, feeling hopeless and then hopeful. Being stuck between the two states, in limbo, might break some people,” she said. The symptoms of depression and bereavement-related depression are similar. They include loss of interest in daily activities, impaired social and occupational functioning, depressed mood and irritability, decreased interest in most activities, change in body weight and sleep pattern, fatigue and loss of energy, misplaced sense of guilt or feeling of worthlessness, diminished ability to concentrate and thoughts of death or plans for suicide.“If an individual has five of these symptoms for a period of over two months after the death of a person close to them, they need urgent help,” Burmeister said. She warned that a person could seriously contemplate suicide.

Complicated grief

A small percentage suffers harder with what medical professionals term as ‘complicated grief’. According to a report in the Professional Psychology: Research and Practice (2003), it is a “condition more severe than the average loss-related life transition, depression and anxiety. It is marked by broad changes to all personal relationships, a sense of meaninglessness, a prolonged yearning or searching for the deceased and a sense of rupture in personal beliefs.”So, essentially, the person becomes quite unrecognisable from who he or she was before that particular loss.Kramar added: “Everybody copes differently … but not knowing if the person died peacefully or not is troubling. You cannot imagine or rationalise what they went through.“For some it takes years to heal, some mourn till the end of their lives. It is a difficult situation. It also depends on what was the age of the person when he or she died.”It is a tough time and Burmeister stressed the need for all those affected by the MH370 to be given proper counselling and support by the authorities to help them survive.
