DANIEL 11:21-23
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

DANIEL 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks(62X7=434 YEARS+7X7=49 YEARS=TOTAL OF 69 WEEKS OR 483 YRS) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(ROMAN LEADERS DESTROYED THE 2ND TEMPLE) and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.(THERE HAS TO BE 70 WEEKS OR 490 YRS TO FUFILL THE VISION AND PROPHECY OF DAN 9:24).(THE NEXT VERSE IS THAT 7 YR WEEK OR (70TH FINAL WEEK).

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

DANIEL 8:23-25
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king (EU DICTATOR) of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences,(FROM THE OCCULT) shall stand up.
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power:(SATANS POWER) and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes;(JESUS) but he shall be broken without hand.

DANIEL 11:36-40
36 And the king shall do according to his will;(EU PRESIDENT) and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers,(THIS EU DICTATOR IS A EUROPEAN JEW) nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces:(HES A MILITARY GINIUS) and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds (CONTROL HEZBOLLAH,AL-QUAIDA MURDERERS ETC) with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many,(HIS ARMY LEADERS) and shall divide the land for gain.
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south(EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR PROTECTING ISRAELS SECURITY) and the king of the north(RUSSIA) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

JERUSALEM | Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:37pm EDT
(Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday telephoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and said he hoped the two sides could resume peace talks, stalled for three years, Israeli officials said.Netanyahu offered greetings for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, his office said, adding that he told Abbas: "I hope we will have the opportunity to speak with one another not only during festivals, and will start negotiating. It's important."Direct talks broke down in 2010 over Israel's settlement of the occupied West Bank, which Palestinians want as part of their future state. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has in recent months mounted shuttle visits in the hope of reviving negotiations."I hope Secretary of State Kerry's efforts will show results," Netanyahu said, according to the Israeli statement.(Writing by Dan Williams; editing by Andrew Roche)

Israeli leader vows to keep weapons from Hezbollah

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's prime minister insisted Sunday that he will not allow "dangerous weapons" to reach Lebanon's Hezbollah militants, following reports that Israel recently carried out an airstrike in northern Syria against a shipment of advanced missiles. The airstrike in Latakia reportedly targeted Russian Yakhont anti-ship missiles, one of the types of advanced weapons that Israeli officials have previously said they would not allow to reach Syria. It would be the fourth known airstrike against Syria this year.Asked about the reports on the CBS-TV show "Face the Nation," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to confirm or deny Israeli involvement in the latest airstrike."My policy is to prevent the transfer of dangerous weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon and other terror groups as well. And we stand by that policy," he said, according to a transcript of the interview provided by CBS.Israel has been carefully watching the Syrian conflict since it erupted in March 2011. While it has been careful not to take sides in the civil war, Israel has repeatedly said it would take action to prevent what it calls "game changing" weapons, including chemical weapons and advanced guided missiles, from reaching Hezbollah or other hostile militant groups. Syria's President Bashar Assad is a key backer of Hezbollah. In January, Israeli aircraft destroyed what was believed to be a shipment of advanced Russian anti-aircraft missiles in Syria that were bound for Lebanon. In May, a pair of Israeli airstrikes near Damascus targeted advanced Iranian ground-to-ground missiles also thought to be headed for Hezbollah. Israel has never confirmed involvement in any of the airstrikes.Following the May attack, Syrian President Bashar Assad vowed to retaliate if Israel struck his territory again. Assad has not commented on the latest alleged airstrike.Yakhont missiles are powerful anti-ship weapons launched from the shore that are difficult to defend against. They travel at twice the speed of sound close to the surface of the water, making it hard for radar to detect them. Israel sees them as threatening its military and commercial installations along the coast, including its offshore natural gas reserves.Hezbollah used a less-advanced Iranian surface-to-sea missile to hit an Israeli warship during a monthlong 2006 war. That attack killed four Israeli sailors.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spent Sunday morning reminding the world – and Israel – that Iran is still focused on moving its nuclear development program forward.
Netanyahu made Iranian nuclear development activities the focus of the weekly Cabinet meeting, warning that one month after national elections, Tehran is rapidly advancing its agenda. In addition to expanding and improving uranium enrichment technology and facilities, Iran is also in the process of developing a plutonium reactor, Netanyahu reported. In this way, he said, Tehran will have two ways in which it can create fuel for a nuclear weapon. At the same time, he added, the Islamic Republic is also improving its ballistic missile technology.“We believe that now, more than ever, it is important to stiffen economic sanctions and present Iran with a credible military option,” Netanyahu said. On Friday, Israel’s defense establishment successfully completed a test that analysts said was very likely related to Israel’s Jericho ballistic missile system.
In a statement, the Defense Ministry said Israel “successfully conducted the launch of a rocket propulsion system at the Palmachim army base.” Adding that the test was scheduled far in advance by the security establishment, and not in response to any specific event, the ministry added it “was carried out on schedule.”At the Cabinet meeting, Netanyahu urged the international community to continue to pressure Iran to give up its enriched uranium.“We are determined to stand firm by our demands, which must become the demands of the international community. “First, to cease all enrichment. Second, to remove from the country all the enriched uranium. And third, to close the illegal nuclear facility at Qom,” he said. The so-called P5+1 – which includes the U.S., Russia, China, Germany, France and Britain – has told Iran it must stop enriching uranium to the 20-percent level, a military grade which can be used to fuel a primitive nuclear weapon. But the international group has indicated that Iran can keep in the country some of its stockpiles of uranium that were enriched to a lesser degree, a potentially dangerous compromise.

Israel on Friday authorized Palestinian Authority police to enter areas of Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty. The unusual permission was given in order to ensure order as tens of thousands of Arabs headed for the Temple Mount to attend services at the mosques there on the first Friday of Ramadan. No unusual incidents were reported, police said. Israeli police were stationed at “strategic areas” in an around the Old City, ready to respond to unrest.Police and PA security officers were prepared for the possibility of mass rallies either for or against deposed Egyptian leader Mohammed Morsi. Early Friday, a group hung a large sign outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount with an image of Morsi, and a caption saying that he was “the legitimate leader of Egypt.”By 11:00 AM, Israeli police said, some 53,000 PA Arabs had entered Jerusalem in order to visit the Temple Mount, adding to the large numbers of Jerusalem Arabs who visited there as well.

2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

GENESIS 7:6-12

Thousands evacuated as typhoon hits China

About 300,000 moved from their homes in southeastern China as Typhoon Soulik hits mainland after battering Taiwan.

Thousands of people have been evacuated in Taiwan and China as Typhoon Soulik made landfall early on Saturday, killing at least one person and injuring seven in the Taiwanese capital Taipei.China has evacuated more than 300,000 people and drafted in thousands of soldiers as the typhoon hit the country's southeastern Fujian province with windspeeds of up to 118km per hour, according to the National Meterological Centre."(It) is currently moving northwest at 20 to 25 km per hour and is expected to enter neighbouring Jiangxi Province after midnight," Xinhua news agency reported.About 5,500 soldiers were dispatched across the southeast coast to help with rescue efforts, it said.In Taipei, a 50-year-old police officer died after he was hit in the head by a brick that came loose during the typhoon, the Central Emergency Operation Centre said.Seven people were injured mostly by falling objects. The entire island was declared an "alert zone".According to officials, more than 8,000 people have been moved from their homes, many from southern areas prone to landslides. About 3,000 were moved out of Kaohsiung city and 2,000 others from Pingtung county. They have been taken to local government buildings which have been turned into shelters. Soldiers were deployed in high risk areas.Offices and schools remained closed in Taipei and eight other cities, and residents were advised to stay indoors as the typhoon hit the island. Packing winds of up to 170 km an hour, Soulik made landfall on the north-east coast on Saturday, the Central Weather Bureau said.
Natural disasters
Even before Soulik's arrival, Taipei was affected by powerful winds and downpours which disrupted power in some areas, ripped out trees and caused injuries. In the north, more than 600 residents were evacuated from six low-lying aboriginal riverside villages on Friday morning. Villagers reinforced the roofs of their wooden homes. In Wuchieh, a township in the northeastern Yilan county, over 2000 sandbags were snatched up by residents and two amphibious military vehicles were deployed for rescue services.President Ma Ying-jeou urged government units and the public "not to let their guards down" in a statement on Friday, after inspecting the central government's disaster response centre.More than 2,000 tourists had already been evacuated from the remote Green Island, southeast of Taiwan, on Thursday. The storm has disrupted air travel to and from Taiwan. According to the transport authorities, 113 flights were cancelled. Local television in the capital reported traffic gridlock and a run on supermarkets as people rushed to stock up.In August 2009 Typhoon Morakot killed about 600 people in Taiwan, most of them buried in huge landslides in the south, in one of the worst natural disasters to hit the island in recent years.Soulik is the first typhoon to hit Taiwan this year. The military is on standby and 102 camps have been set up to assist those who lose their homes.

Zimmerman, cleared in Trayvon Martin death, faces outrage

By Ellen Wulfhorst and Barbara Liston
SANFORD, Florida (Reuters) - Cleared by a Florida jury, George Zimmerman walked free from criminal charges in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin but was still under fire from civil rights leaders and critics who were dismayed by the verdict. The six women jurors who deliberated for 16 hours over two days found Zimmerman not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter Saturday night in a case that has polarized the U.S. public.Debates about racial profiling, guns, self-defense laws and the equality of justice that arose from the 2012 shooting continued the morning after the verdict."I remain stunned at the decision," civil rights leader Jesse Jackson said on CNN on Sunday. "The (U.S.) Department of Justice must intervene to take this to another level."Benjamin Jealous, president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said Sunday he had spoken to senior Justice officials about pursuing federal civil rights charges against Zimmerman."When you look at comments made by young black men who lived in that neighborhood about how they felt especially targeted by (Zimmerman), there is reason to be concerned that race was a factor in why he targeted young Trayvon," Jealous told CNN.The jurors were sequestered during the three weeks of testimony and remained anonymous by court order. They declined to speak to reporters after the verdict.Defense lawyers had argued that Martin, 17, attacked Zimmerman on the night of February 26, 2012, in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. Prosecutors had to prove that Zimmerman committed a crime in pursuing Martin and that he did not act in self-defense.
The court unshackled Zimmerman from an electronic monitoring device that he had been wearing while on bail. Zimmerman, who had received death threats, now faces a possible civil wrongful death lawsuit from Martin's family. The tense drama that had been building for 16 months climaxed with the late-night reading of the verdict when a court clerk said "not guilty." Zimmerman, 29, showed no emotion at first, but later broke into a smile after sitting down.
NO ARREST SPARKED OUTRAGE
Outrage over the case was triggered by the refusal of the police department in the central Florida town to arrest Zimmerman after the shooting, believing his story that he acted in self-defense when he shot Martin.
Protests began in Sanford and soon spread around the country, creating pressure that forced the Sanford police chief to step down and led Florida's governor to appoint a special prosecutor, who brought a second-degree murder charge 45 days after the shooting.Zimmerman, who is white and Hispanic, spotted Martin from his car inside the gated community where he was a neighborhood watch coordinator and called police, believing Martin to be suspicious. The teenager was staying in the neighborhood, the houseguest of his father's fiancée.Minutes later, after Zimmerman got out of his car, the two engaged in a fight that left Zimmerman with a bloody nose and head injuries. The encounter ended when Zimmerman shot Martin once through the heart with a 9mm pistol. Some critics said special prosecutor Angela Corey overcharged the case by alleging second-degree murder, saying the lesser charge of manslaughter was more appropriate. The acquittal will weaken any wrongful death civil lawsuit that Martin's family might bring. Such a case would have a lower burden of proof and Zimmerman, who opted against taking the witness stand in his criminal trial, might be forced to testify."We will seek and get immunity in a civil hearing," said Zimmerman's lead defense lawyer, Mark O'Mara.Civil rights leader Al Sharpton called the verdict "a slap in the face to the American people" and urged federal action. He cited the example of Rodney King, the man whose videotaped beating by Los Angeles police triggered rioting two decades ago after a state criminal trial found the police officers not guilty. Later, the Justice Department prosecuted some of the officers in a federal civil case.Demonstrators outside the Seminole County Courthouse where the trial was held chanted "No justice, no peace" before and after the verdict, and the activist group Act Now to Stop War and End Racism called demonstrations on Sunday in New York, Boston, San Francisco and other cities.(Writing by Daniel Trotta; Editing by Doina Chiacu)

DOJ urged to press civil rights charges against Zimmerman

-july 14,13
The NAACP, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and other civil rights activists are calling on the U.S. Department of Justice and Attorney Gen. Eric Holder to press federal civil rights charges against George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watchman who was acquitted by a Sanford, Fla., jury Saturday in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.“The most fundamental of civil rights — the right to life — was violated the night George Zimmerman stalked and then took the life of Trayvon Martin," NAACP President Ben Jealous wrote in a letter to Holder shortly after the verdict was announced. "We ask that the Department of Justice file civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation. Please address the travesties of the tragic death of Trayvon Martin by acting today.”“This verdict represents a tragic miscarriage of justice," Barbara Arnwine, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, said in a statement. "Yet, there is still the potential for justice to be served through a civil suit brought about by Trayvon Martin’s surviving family members, and also through civil rights charges being brought against Mr. Zimmerman by the Department of Justice."The Justice Dept. launched a probe of the Zimmerman case last year, but has yet to comment on Zimmerman's acquittal.“If we find evidence of a potential federal criminal civil rights crime, we will take appropriate action," Holder said in 2012 during a keynote speech to Al Sharpton's National Action Network convention. "And at every step, the facts and law will guide us forward.”But Holder, the nation's first African-American attorney general, cautioned in subsequent comments that there is a “very high barrier” when seeking to bring federal criminal charges in such cases, TheHill.com noted.A Justice Department official told CNN late Saturday night that it "continues to evaluate the evidence generated during the federal investigation, as well as the evidence and testimony from the state trial."
On Sunday, Jackson called on the Justice Department to "intervene" and “take this to another level.”
"I remain stunned at the decision," Jackson said on CNN's "New Day." "That the grown man, armed, murdered the unarmed boy going home.""I think that we clearly must move on to the next step in terms of the federal government and in terms of the civil courts," Sharpton said on MSNBC Saturday. "Clearly, we want people to be disciplined, strategic. This is a slap in the face to those that believe in justice in this country."

EGYPT

ISAIAH 19:1-5
1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.
3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.
4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.
5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

Egypt government takes shape

By Noah Browning and Shadia Nasralla-july 14,13
CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's interim prime minister filled senior posts on Sunday in a cabinet that will lead the country under an army-backed "road map" to restore civilian rule following overthrow of elected President Mohamed Mursi.Hazem el-Beblawi, a 76-year-old liberal economist appointed interim prime minister last week, is tapping technocrats and liberals for an administration to govern under a temporary constitution until parliamentary elections in about six months. He named another liberal economist, Ahmed Galal, who has a doctorate from Boston University, as finance minister. His job will be to start repairing the state finances and rescue an economy wrecked by two and a half years of political turmoil.A former ambassador to the United States, Nabil Fahmy, accepted the post of foreign minister, a sign of the importance the government places in its relationship with the superpower that provides $1.3 billion a year in military aid.Mohamed ElBaradei, a former senior U.N. diplomat, was sworn in as vice president, a job he was offered last week.Government officials had earlier said the finance job would be offered to Hani Kadry, an official who oversaw Cairo's loan negotiations with the International Monetary Fund. It was not immediately clear why Kadry did not end up in the job.Sunday marks a week without serious street violence. In the day's after Mursi's fall, clashes between the army, his Islamist supporters and Mursi's opponents killed more than 90 people. In a speech to a hall full of military officers on Sunday, the army chief who removed the president, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, justified the takeover. He said the president had lost legitimacy because of mass demonstrations against him.Sisi said he had tried to avert the need for unilateral action by offering Mursi the option of holding a referendum on his rule, but "the response was total rejection". He insisted the political process remained open to all groups - though Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood has shunned dealings with "usurpers"."Every political force without exception and without exclusion must realize that an opportunity is available for everyone in political life and no ideological movement is prevented from taking part," Sisi said.
MURSI HELD INCOMMUNICADO
Mursi, Egypt's first freely elected president, has been held incommunicado at an undisclosed location since the army removed him from power on July 3, three days after millions marched to demand he resign on the first anniversary of his inauguration. The authorities have not charged him with a crime but said on Saturday they were investigating complaints against him over spying, inciting violence and wrecking the economy. The public prosecutor said on Sunday that it had ordered the freezing of the assets of 14 Brotherhood and other Islamist leaders.Charges of inciting violence have already been issued against many of the Brotherhood's top figures, although in most cases police have not followed through with arrests. The Brotherhood says the criminal charges are part of a crackdown against it and the authorities are to blame for the violence.Senior Brotherhood leader Essam El-Erian said some 240 Mursi supporters, jailed since dozens were shot by troops a week ago, had their detentions extended in a closed hearing inside the prison where they are being held. Lawyers were barred."How could there not be a single lawyer for 240 defendants?" he asked. "This constitutes a serious violation of all the principles of the rule of law. Where are the honorable judges in Egypt to challenge these violations that insult their robes?"Thousands of Mursi's followers have maintained a vigil in a square near a northeast Cairo mosque, vowing in the brutal summer heat not to leave until he is restored. Last week's start of the fasting month of Ramadan has added to the hardship."They kidnapped our president. This is against international law. We don't even know where he is," said Nihad, 37, a lawyer, resting in a tent with other women at the vigil. All were holding Korans, except one playing on an iPad.Tens of thousands took part in marches on Friday, but the demonstrations ended peacefully, to countrywide relief."We feel in the last few days there's more stability, more chance for an economic improvement because there hasn't been a lot of violence," said Ahmed Hilmi, 17, as he manned an open-air stall selling juice for people to break their Ramadan fasts. The Brotherhood has called for more marches on Monday. Mursi's opponents have also called for demonstrations, though their protests are attracting far fewer people now that they have achieved their aim of bringing him down.
DIPLOMATIC CHALLENGE
The overthrow of Mursi has presented a diplomatic challenge for the West, which had promoted democracy in Egypt but was never comfortable with the Muslim Brotherhood in power.Washington, which had emphasized Mursi's legitimacy and discouraged demonstrations against him in the weeks before he was removed, has since avoided referring to his removal as a coup but called for his release and for an end to detentions. U.S. law requires a halt to aid for countries after coups. The State Department said Deputy Secretary of State William Burns would meet members of the interim government and other civil and business leaders in Cairo from Sunday to Tuesday."In all these meetings, he will underscore U.S. support for the Egyptian people, an end to all violence, and a transition leading to an inclusive, democratically elected civilian government," the U.S. ministry said in a brief statement. It did not say whether Burns would meet military officials or anyone from the Muslim Brotherhood. The European Union, in a statement issued on Sunday by its foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, urged the interim authorities to prevent "politically motivated arrests", as well as the involvement of the Brotherhood in the political process. The EU, also an aid donor, has not condemned the military outright, though repeated on Sunday its call for rapid elections and said it was following developments "with deep concern".Arab states, mostly hostile to the Brotherhood, have had fewer reservations. Jordan's foreign minister visited on Sunday in a sign of support. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait have promised a total of $12 billion in cash, loans and fuel. A Gulf newspaper reported that two ships had been dispatched bringing $200 million worth of donated Kuwaiti oil.Beblawi's challenge is setting up a government that will appear inclusive without the biggest Islamist party. The Brotherhood has said it will have no dealings whatsoever with a regime it says was imposed on Egypt after a "fascist coup".The authorities have instead been courting another large Islamist group, the ultra-orthodox Nour Party, sometime Mursi allies who broke with him and accepted the army takeover.Nour says it has withdrawn from the "road map" because of government violence and is not seeking ministerial posts of its own, but will back technocrats and offer "advice" to Beblawi."We are outside of the road map, but not outside the political scene," Nour's deputy leader Bassam Zarqa told Al Jazeera. "If there are names for ministries that we oppose, we want our voice heard: 'This one's good, this one's not.'"He added that the party was concerned about the shutting of Islamist media outlets by the authorities, as well as the "vast campaign of detentions" of Mursi supporters.Beblawi himself was selected only after Nour vetoed other candidates for prime minister, including ElBaradei.(Additional reporting by Yasmine Saleh, Maggie Fick, Omar Fahmy, Patrick Werr and Peter Graff in Cairo and Adrian Croft in Brussels; Writing by Peter Graff; Editing by Alastair Macdonald)

BREAKING: George Zimmerman Found Not Guilty

George Zimmerman (courtesy businessinsider.com)
A Sanford Florida jury has ruled that George Zimmerman is not guilty of the homicide of teenager Trayvon Martin. Six women unanimously affirmed Zimmerman’s claim that he acted in self-defense. They also declined to convict him of the lesser crime of manslaughter. Martin’s family was not present in the courtroom when the verdict was read. George Zimmerman is now a free man. There are no reports of rioting—but the night is still young. Updates and reaction to follow.

PROVERBS 31 INSIDE THE MIND OF A DEDICATED WOMEN
1  The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2  What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3  Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4  It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5  Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6  Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7  Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8  Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9  Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11  The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12  She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13  She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14  She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15  She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16  She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17  She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18  She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19  She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20  She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21  She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22  She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23  Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24  She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25  Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26  She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28  Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31  Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Get caught up: Zimmerman trial in 3 minutes

(CNN) -- An employee of the State Attorney's Office who testified that prosecutors withheld evidence from George Zimmerman's defense team has been fired.Ben Kruidbos had been on paid administrative leave since May 28 from his job as director of information technology for the State Attorney's Office. He testified before the trial began that Trayvon Martin's cell phone contained images of Martin blowing smoke, marijuana, and deleted text messages regarding a transaction for a firearm. He received the termination letter, dated July 11, on Friday, the same day jurors in the Zimmerman trial began deliberating. The letter states: "It has come to our attention that you violated numerous State Attorney's Office (SAO) policies and procedures and have engaged in deliberate misconduct that is especially egregious in light of your position."Through his attorney, Wesley White, Kruidbos informed Zimmerman's defense team that the information existed. In court, Kruidbos testified he was concerned that he potentially could be held liable if information wasn't shared. He said "all the information is important in the process to ensure its a fair trial."The defense believes Kruidbos' testimony is relevant because it supports their claim that the state violated rules of discovery.

Police in Florida warn against riots in wake of a George Zimmerman verdict

Christian Science Monitor
Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger had one message for fellow Floridians about the George Zimmerman trial verdict: Destruction and violence after a verdict will “not be tolerated.”It was a preemptive warning ahead of what some some authorities worry may be a tinderbox situation. A six-woman jury began Friday to deliberate the case of Mr. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain charged with the murder of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin.Late Friday, according to the Orlando Sentinel, “sign-wavers and others have gathered peacefully near a fountain outside the courthouse [in Sanford, Fla.] in an area designated for people to express themselves.”Social media armies on both sides of the case are gearing up for the verdict, media coverage is nonstop, and emotions are running high in many quarters. Even so, this moment in America lacks many of the propellants that stoked racially charged riots in the past, such as the Los Angeles riots in 1992 and the Oakland, Calif., riots of 2009, says a historian who studies racial unrest.
“History shows that there need to be large underlying socioeconomic conditions that will serve as the tinder for the spark that will cause the eruption,” says Michael Flamm, a professor of political history at Ohio Wesleyan University.“There is, of course, plenty of economic distress and plenty of social distress in Sanford and in Florida and in the country as a whole, but I’m not sure it’s at a critical mass right now,” he adds. “There’s also a sense in most communities that a riot or rebellion in response to a miscarriage of justice is both ineffective and counterproductive – after all, it’s your community that’s going to be most adversely affected. Police are not going to allow you to go and riot or loot in other communities.”

Police not just in Sanford, but also in Miami and other Florida cities have circulated memos and made preparations – including putting up “First Amendment zones” – amid concern that a not-guilty verdict could ignite unruly protests or even street violence. In Miami, authorities have released a pre-verdict video that urges people to raise their voices, not their fists, and the city plans to set up several First Amendment zones where people who want to vent can do so in rallies and debate.“Riots are not acceptable, and riots are not expected,” Miami-Dade Police Director J.D. Patterson said from the pulpit at Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Thursday night, reported Miami’s CBS-4 TV.Such statements nevertheless underscore a cause for concern, especially because the nuances of the actual trial – and the jury’s task – may be lost to the public at large amid outrage and rumors, says Mr. Flamm of Ohio Wesleyan University.Although a jury must decide whether the state proved “beyond a reasonable doubt” that Zimmerman committed murder or manslaughter, some might interpret a not-guilty verdict this way: A jury of five whites and one minority agreed that Trayvon Martin, who was walking by himself, unarmed, “minding his own business,” as prosecutors said, was responsible for his own death, and that George Zimmerman, his killer, is “factually innocent” and should go free.In the aforementioned riots in Los Angeles and Oakland, racial violence sprang up around concerns of police brutality. A new documentary about the Oakland riots, "Fruitvale Station," depicts the aftermath of the death of Oscar Grant, shot in the back by a transit cop at a subway station. Shocked train riders recorded the incident on their phones and promptly posted the video and images online, where they went viral. The appearance of "Fruitvale Station" at the culmination of the Zimmerman trial rings a powerful theme. “The deaths of these and other African-American young men (Mr. Grant was 22) touch some of the rawest nerves in the body politic …,” writes A.O. Scott, a film critic at The New York Times. But important differences exist between Oakland and Sanford. The Oakland BART riots began with an apparent act of police brutality – shooting a man in the back as he was lying down. In the Trayvon Martin case, the concern, rather, is that police were indifferent to the death of a black teenager. The decision by Sanford police not to charge Zimmerman triggered widespread protests, and 44 days later a state prosecutor indicted Zimmerman on murder charges. Since then, the trial has served as more of a civics lesson than as a call to arms, some legal experts suggest.“A lot of it depends on your perspective: Is the system actually trying to bring about justice, or is it trying to sweep it under the rug?” says Flamm. “[The Trayvon Martin case] is not a clear case where the system is trying to sweep what happened under the rug.”Nevertheless, Florida has had its share of race riots, both near Sanford and in Miami. For the time being, police say they’re preparing for civil unrest, although they do not sense it is imminent. “While this case has brought a great deal of emotion, there is no tension in Seminole County,” Sheriff Eslinger said on Friday afternoon.Nevertheless, Eslinger added, “we encourage businesses to not disrupt operations, we encourage all residents to live their lives normally, and that we will not tolerate anyone who uses this verdict as an excuse to violate the law.”Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith, who took over after Chief Bill Lee was fired over the handling of the Zimmerman case, said, “I’m not going to say that everything is peachy-keen in Sanford.” But he noted that the Trayvon Martin case provides “a great opportunity for evolution for Sanford, [where we] make sure we have the opportunity to speak our piece peacefully. There’s nothing on the horizon for us other than move forward.”Flamm is interested to see how the verdict will ripple through social media. Already, thousands of Facebook users are blacking out their profile pictures in solidarity with Trayvon’s family. The trial has been buzzing on Twitter and other social networks for weeks.“If Zimmerman walks, the day after the verdict we are calling for a day of absence, a total national blackout,” write the organizers of one online protest, which had received tens of thousands of pageviews. “Call in sick and tired. Call in angry, call in crazy. But call in.”Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, who helped propel the “Justice for Trayvon” and “Million Hoodie Marches” last year, also took to Twitter, where the hashtags #Trayvon and #Zimmerman were among the most popular of the moment."If #Zimmerman is not convicted, avoid violence because it only leads to more tragedies. Self-destruction is not the road to reconstruction," the Rev.Mr. Jackson tweeted.Such missives are a counterpoint to the Oscar Grant shooting in Oakland, where online videos of the shooting went viral, fueling outrage that morphed into street violence. When the verdict in the Zimmerman case comes, it's possible that “social media … could curtail speculation and rumors that lead” to riots, says Flamm.

Obama Plans Nationwide Race Riots If Zimmerman Is Found Innocent

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 6:34

By Douglas V. Gibbs
********************
The media and the liberal left are coming unhinged.  In their minds, since they figure they have the power to control everything, this trial against George “Creepy-Ass Cracker” Zimmerman should have been a slam-dunk.  Poor little innocent Trayvon Martin, of whom President Obama says if he had a son the kid would look like Trayvon, was the victim of a mean racist attack.  We are being told that Zimmerman hunted down and killed the poor child because poor, innocent Trayvon Martin was black.  And now, as the wheels come off, and it is beginning to look like Zimmerman is going to walk because his story that Trayvon attacked him and his was a fight of self-defense, the Left, through politicians and the media, are inciting race riots.  They want this to be the Rodney King riots, on steroids. As the testimonies pile up, it is becoming more and more clear that Zimmerman’s story is the true one, and any witness that is supposed to help the case of Trayvon Martin, is actually hurting him.  The liberal left demands that George Zimmerman must be convicted as a racist “white Hispanic.”  The Jury is not supposed to consider the law, for why should they?  The Supreme Court ignored the rule of law with the gay marriage case, so why should the jury in this case care about the rule of law?  The Supreme Court ruled based on their rage against those that dare oppose the homosexual agenda, and the media demands that this jury rule in the same way.  Never mind the evidence.  They need to be enraged that the racist “creepy-ass cracker” dared to fight against Trayvon Martin, and kill him.Since the liberal left is losing the case, we have to remember that it originally gained media attention just before last year’s presidential election to remind the democrat voters how racist them right wing loonies are.  But since now, when they hope to remind America how racist we are to protect the democrats in preparation for the 2014 midterm elections, the Left is resorting to inciting violence. On ABC News Nightline, anchor, Dan Abrams, interviewed Sanford, Florida, police chief Cecil Smith, asking him, “If Zimmerman is found not guilty, is your office ready for that?”The police chief responded, “I believe we have plans that will be able to deal with issues as they arise.”Abrams then came back with, “I assume the worst-case scenario, then, would be riots?”The police chief said there was no talk of riots.  ”We are not talking about riots. We’re talking about rallies. If people choose to come to Sanford and voice their opinions or if they want to come and rally, we welcome that. We want people to have the opportunity to express themselves.”The media is not satisfied with that.  They want violence.  They want blood in the streets.  They want a crisis that will finish off the opposition, and enable them to report how racist America is.Remember, the liberal left democrats have gone beyond trying to win anything.  They believe they have won it all. . . well, except the House of Representatives, and that will resolved, they believe, in 2014.  And to achieve the one party system they crave, they are working to eliminate the opposition, and gain greater control over the population. . . and a good, violent crisis might be just what the illegal alien in the White House needs.Barack Obama was a community organizer.  An agitator.  Now, the media has learned from him, and they have become agitators too, and they are agitating for riots. What is amazing about all of this is how quickly the people forget.  In 2008, when Obama was running on the messiah ticket, we were being told that he was proof we were moving beyond racism, and that if Obama was elected we would live in a post-racial America.  Yet, the racism has blown up, exploding.  Obama has agitated everyone he considers would work well in the fight against rich white republicans.  He is causing racial strife, and it is by design.  He is not a great uniter, as he claimed, and he never intended to be.  The goal has always been division, chaos, and violence.  That is how tyranny solidifies control. The useful idiots in the media are calling for race riots, inciting violence, because they know the Zimmerman trial is not going their way.  The Left has been totally invested in Zimmerman being found guilty and heading to death row.  Hell, they are even willing to settle for manslaughter, if they can get it.  But now, the liberal left realizes they will likely lose the Zimmerman case. What is being realized now is that there never was a case.  The prosecution has bad witnesses on the stand, and no leg to stand on, because this case was purely political.  They wanted to scare Zimmerman into a guilty plea, and he refused, and now they have no evidence to put him away.  In fact, the arrest warrant is even laced with fraud. It is like the Duke Lacrosse case all over again.  The poor black dancer accused the racist rich white athletes of doing her wrong.  Everyone demanded that the team be thrown out of school, and arrested.  But it turned out the woman lied, and the deconstructionist claim that we are a racist nation was delayed. .Until the Trayvon Martin shooting.Deconstructionists can’t change a healthy America into something the Founding Fathers never intended.  They have to convince all of us that America is damaged goods.  If America is damaged, it must be changed, or at least that is the attitude the liberal left democrats are banking on.  Remember, Obama wanted to fundamentally change this nation, but you don’t fix what ain’t broke, so they must convince you America is broken, tainted by widespread racism – otherwise, the democrats would be worthless, and would cease to exist.  If America is great, their whole platform is worth nothing. And if they can’t get their racism claim confirmed by the courts, they will have to do it with violence in the street.

Communities Struggle to Break a Grim Cycle of Killing

Most killings are over 'nonsense,' says Hillar Moore, center, the Baton Rouge district attorney. He visits a murder scene at 3 a.m. Friday.BATON ROUGE, La.—Police found Silas Gibbs Jr. early in the morning of March 3, slumped against the seat belt in a red Mustang, with blood streaming from his ears and mouth. He had been shot, allegedly by one of his closest friends.Mr. Gibbs, 24 years old, is one of hundreds of young black men across the U.S. to die violently in the past six months. Their deaths are overshadowed by tragedies like the massacres at the Aurora, Colo., movie theater and the Sikh temple in Wisconsin, as well as the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla. The latter case prompted nationwide outcry in part because of its racial aspect: Mr. Martin's killer is white and Hispanic, and Mr. Martin was black.
But Mr. Martin's death is a racial aberration, according to data kept by the Justice Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Law-enforcement officials nationwide are battling a far more widespread and intractable problem: the persistent killing of young black men by other young black men.

Battling Black-on-Black Violence

Brandon Thibodeaux for The Wall Street Journal Hillar Moore, the district attorney for East Baton Rouge Parish, met with investigators at the scene of a homicide.Homicide victims usually are killed by people of their own race and ethnicity. The pattern goes back at least a generation.Bureau of Justice Statistics data show that from 1976 to 2005, white victims were killed by white defendants 86% of the time and black victims were killed by blacks 94% of the time.
Then there is the matter of who is dying. Although the U.S. murder rate has been dropping for years, an analysis of homicide data by The Wall Street Journal found that the number of black male victims increased more than 10%, to 5,942 in 2010 from 5,307 in 2000.Overall, more than half the nation's homicide victims are African-American, though blacks make up only 13% of the population. Of those black murder victims, 85% were men, mostly young men.Despite the declining U.S. murder rate, killings remain stubbornly high in poor pockets of cities large and small. In some cases, the rate is rising sharply. That increase is draining resources from police, prosecutors, social workers and hospitals. As of Friday, Philadelphia police had been called to 223 homicides, compared with 198 last year. Chicago has recorded 337 murders, compared with 263 in the year-earlier period, a 28% jump. Public outcry there escalated after June 27, when stray bullets fired by an alleged gang member killed 7-year-old Heaven Sutton in a poor area on the city's West Side. Uproar over the little girl's death led Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to announce a gang crackdown in neighborhoods with high murder rates. The increase isn't uniform. In New York, 246 people this year have been murdered as of August 5, a 17% decline from a year earlier, police say.Overwhelmingly, the victims are black men like Mr. Gibbs, who was shot in the back of the head in his car in Louisiana. Or Rahiem Bailey, 29, who was killed during an apparent robbery in Norfolk, Va. He died the evening of Feb. 26, an hour before Mr. Martin, the Florida teenager, was killed by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman. Lecarlos Todd, a 19-year-old college student, was shot to death earlier that same day in Jackson, Tenn., one of numerous people hurt during a melee at a local night spot. Jackson police said he was an innocent bystander. In each of these cases, the victims were African Americans younger than 30, and the people charged also were young black men.

THE FIRST JUDGEMENT OF THE EARTH STARTED WITH WATER-IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THE LAST GENERATION WILL BE HAVING FLOODING
GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

Typhoon Soulik hits China after killing 1 in Taiwan

-time of india

BEIJING: A powerful typhoon surged across northern Taiwan on Saturday, killing at least one person before moving to southeast China and forcing the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people from a coastal province. Typhoon Soulik disrupted transportation and commerce across Taiwan, with emergency crews around Taipei and in its environs struggling to restore power to the 520,000 homes where it had been disrupted, and to remove hundreds of trees uprooted by the storm from streets and roads. The storm then made another landing in the heavily populated Chinese coastal province of Fujian on Saturday afternoon, packing winds of 119 kilometers per hour (74 miles per hour), according to China's National Meteorological Center. That was down from the 137 kph (85 mph) winds the typhoon had boasted on making landfall in Taiwan around dawn. About 300,000 people in Fujian were evacuated from their homes, the official Xinhua News Agency reported. In Fujian and Zhejiang, another coastal province, train services were suspended, flights canceled and fishing boats called back to ports. China's weather service warned of possible floods and landslides. Earlier, torrential rains buffeted large areas of northern and central Taiwan, with Hsinchu and the neighboring county of Miaoli reporting totals of 700-800 millimeters (27-31 inches) by early Saturday.
Schools and businesses throughout northern Taiwan were closed by government order on Friday, and the military evacuated 8,000 people from mountainous villages considered vulnerable to flash flooding. Just after midnight on Saturday, a falling brick took the life of a policeman in the Taipei suburb of Tanshui, while elsewhere, the National Fire Agency reported there were at least 21 injuries. Dozens of flights at Taipei's main international airport were canceled beginning Friday afternoon, though operations were expected to return to normal by late Saturday. Taiwan's high speed rail system also suspended operations, at least until early Saturday afternoon.

Iran Denies Building New Nuclear Facility

Iran's Foreign Ministry rejects a claim by an Iranian dissident group that an underground nuclear facility is currently being built.-By Elad Benari, Canada-First Publish: 7/13/2013, 2:05 AM-israelnationalnews

The Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected on Friday a claim by an Iranian dissident group, the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), which said a day earlier that it had documentation proving the existence of a previously unknown underground nuclear facility in Iran. The ministry’s spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, dismissed the claim as mere lies by the “desperate” group.“This report is by no means true and is denied [by the Islamic Republic of Iran],” Araqchi was quoted by the Iranian-based PressTV as having said.“The terrorist MKO has been so discredited that the publication of such stories by them is not worth a response,” he added.MKO, whose members are in exile in Paris, said Thursday the secret facility is currently under construction, and will be used for nuclear research and development, the group said, although it is not clear what specific work will be done there. The group said the new facility was about 50 kilometers northeast of Tehran, near the town of Damavand, and is part of an extensive network of underground tunnels and facilities Iran has been working on since 2006. The group also released satellite images of the site.Western analysts who have seen the images told news agencies that while it was possible the facility could be used for nuclear work, there was no direct evidence from the images that it would be used thusly.Iran has held several rounds of talks with six major powers -- the U.S., China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany, known collectively as the P5+1, about its nuclear program. Each round has ended without results. The P5+1 is particularly concerned about Iran's enrichment to levels of up to 20 percent and wants it to shut the Fordow fortified bunker where the sensitive activity is conducted. The group also wants Iran to ship out its existing stockpile of 20-percent enriched material.Iran recently elected “moderate” Hassan Rowhani as the country’s new president, but he stressed soon after his election that Tehran would not consider halting the country’s uranium enrichment activities entirely.Iran’s Supreme Leader has blamed the West for the standoff over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the standoff can be solved easily if the Western states stop their stubborn attitude.(Arutz Sheva’s North American Desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York. China cancels $6 billion uranium plant after protest

By Chen Aizhu and Qi Ding-july 13,13
BEIJING (Reuters) - China has abruptly canceled plans to build its largest uranium processing plant in a southern Chinese city, a day after hundreds of protesters took to the streets demanding the project be scrapped, a local government website said on Saturday. The proposed 230-hectare complex in the heart of China's Pearl River delta industrial heartland in Guangdong province had also sparked unease in neighboring Hong Kong and Macau.Authorities in the gambling enclave had formally raised the issue with their Guangdong counterparts, the South China Morning Post reported.A one-line statement published on the Heshan city government's website said that "to respect people's desire, the Heshan government will not propose the CNNC project".State-run China National Nuclear Corporation and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corp (CGNPC) had planned to build the 37 billion yuan ($6 billion) project.Officials from both companies could not be reached for comment.A Beijing-based nuclear power expert said he was surprised local authorities had taken the decision as the project designed to produce 1,000 tonnes of uranium fuel annually by 2020 was hotly contested by local governments."Compared to a nuclear power plant, a uranium processing facility is way more safer, as there is no fusion or reaction taking place in the production process," said the official with close knowledge of the project. He declined to be identified as he was not authorized to speak to the press. The surprisingly swift decision to cancel the project came after hundreds marched to city offices on Friday that forced officials to pledge an extension of public consultation by 10 days. Locals had planned more protests on Sunday.Chinese authorities are becoming increasingly sensitive to local protests over environmental issues, having canceled, postponed or relocated several major petrochemical and metals plants. The planned conversion and enrichment plant had been meant to supply fuel for China's expanding nuclear power capacity, likely to reach 60-70 gigawatts by 2020 from the current 12.6 GW.China currently produces 800 tonnes of uranium fuel at its plants in southwestern Sichuan province and north China's Inner Mongolia. China sources uranium both from domestic mines and imports from Kazakhstan, Canada and Australia, said the expert.Guangdong is one of the country's largest nuclear power bases, already running five nuclear reactors and building another dozen, incorporating technologies from companies like French Areva and Westinghouse, a unit of Japan's Toshiba Corp <6502 .="" by="" clement="" dditional="" editing="" hong="" in="" jeremy="" kong="" laurence="" p="" reporting="" tan="">

U.S. Officials: Israel Behind Recent Syria Airstrike

A series of explosions last week at a critical Syrian port was the result of airstrikes by Israeli warplanes, multiple U.S. officials told CNN on Friday.Regional media widely reported the predawn explosions at Latakia on July 5, but no one had officially claimed responsibility.Three U.S. officials told CNN the target of the airstrikes were Russian-made Yakhont anti-ship missiles that Israel believes posed a threat to its naval forces. The officials declined to be named because of the sensitive nature of the information. So far, the Israeli government has also declined to comment to CNN.The Syrian rebels said on Tuesday that “foreign forces” had destroyed advanced Russian anti-ship missiles in Latakia, hinting that Israel may have been behind the attack.Qassem Saadeddine, a spokesman for the Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council, saod that the rebels' intelligence network had identified newly supplied Russian Yakhont missiles being stored in the depots that were hit."It was not the FSA that targeted this," Saadeddine said. "It is not an attack that was carried out by rebels."This attack was either by air raid or long-range missiles fired from boats in the Mediterranean," he added.Rebels described hearing and seeing huge blasts, the ferocity of which, they said, was beyond the firepower available to them but consistent with that of a modern military like Israel's.
Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said on Tuesday that Israel does not interfere in the affairs of neighboring countries, but it does act when its red lines are crossed. Some interpreted these remarks as a hint that Israel may have been involved in a strike in Syria."We’ve established red lines regarding our interests and we maintain them. Whenever there is an explosion or attack over there, the Middle East blames us anyway,” Yaalon said vaguely. In May, Yaalon said that Israel "will know what to do" if Russia delivers highly advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Syria. These remarks were also viewed by some media outlets as “an apparent allusion to another air strike” on Syria. In May, Syria claimed that the Israel Air Force (IAF) struck several critical military facilities in Syria, killing dozens of elite troops stationed near the presidential palace.
Israel refused to confirm it was behind the attack. The strikes are widely seen as attempts to prevent the Syrian government from transferring weapons to Hizbullah in neighboring Lebanon.(Arutz Sheva’s North American Desk is keeping you updated until the start of Shabbat in New York.

Op-Ed: On Palestinian Statehood and Its Advocates

Published: Friday, July 12, 2013 10:04 AM
Why should any rational person expect it to work?

On July 10, 2013, attorney Daniel Tauber, Director of Likud Anglos, authored an article that appeared in the Jerusalem Post under the title “It’s no bluff: Netanyahu means it.” Mr. Tauber explained that Netanyahu does indeed endorse the creation of a Palestinian state in the land of Israel, as he expressly avowed in his Bar-Ilan University speech of June 14, 2009.On May 20, 2009, the month before Netanyahu delivered that speech, the present writer penned an article entitled “The Absurdity of a Palestinian State: The Lesson from Egypt” - as conveyed by Dr. Daniel Pipes.Daniel Pipes is one of the foremost experts on the Middle East.  He lived and studied for three years in Egypt. He supported the Israel-Egypt peace treaty of March 1979. As a man of intellectual integrity, however, he admitted in a New York Sun article of November 21, 2006 that it is time to recognize ‘The Failure of the Israel-Egypt Treaty.’ He set forth the following facts: (1) “Ninety-two percent of respondents in a recent poll of one thousand Egyptians over 18 years of age called Israel an enemy state. In contrast, a meager 2% saw Israel as ‘a friend to Egypt.’”(2) “These hostile sentiments express themselves in many ways, including a popular song titled ‘I Hate Israel,’ venomously anti-Semitic political cartoons … and terrorist attacks against visiting Israelis. Egypt's leading democracy movement, Kifaya, recently launched an initiative to collect a million signatures on a petition demanding the annulment of the March 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty.”(3) “Also, the Egyptian government has permitted large quantities of weapons to be smuggled into Gaza to use against Israeli border towns. Yuval Steinitz, an Israeli legislator specializing in Egypt-Israel relations, estimates that fully 90% of PLO and Hamas explosives come from Egypt.”(4) “Cairo may have no apparent enemies, but the impoverished Egyptian state sinks massive resources into a military build up….”(5) “This long, ugly record of hostility exists despite a peace treaty with Israel, hailed at the time by both Egypt's president Anwar El-Sadat and Israel's prime minister Menachem Begin as a ‘historic turning point.’… I too shared in this enthusiasm.” (Emphasis added.)
(6) “With the benefit of retrospect, however, we see that the treaty did palpable harm in at least two ways. First, it opened the American arsenal and provided American funding to purchase the latest in weaponry. As a result, for the first time in the Arab-Israeli conflict, an Arab armed force may have reached parity with its Israeli counterpart.”(7) “Second, it spurred anti-Zionism. I lived … in Egypt in the 1970s, before Sadat's dramatic trip to Jerusalem in late 1977, and I recall the relatively low interest in Israel at that time. Israel was plastered all over the news but it hardly figured in conversations. Egyptians seemed happy to delegate this issue to their government. Only after the treaty, which many Egyptians saw as a betrayal, did they themselves take direct interest. The result was the emergence of a more personal, intense, and bitter form of anti-Zionism.”

The result [of the peace treaty with Egypt] was the emergence of a more personal, intense, and bitter form of anti-Zionism.”
(8) “The same pattern was replicated in Jordan, where the 1994 treaty with Israel soured popular attitudes. To a lesser extent, the 1993 Palestinian accords and even the aborted 1983 Lebanon treaty prompted similar responses. In all four of these cases, diplomatic agreements prompted a surge in hostility toward Israel.”(9) “Defenders of the ‘peace process’ answer that, however hostile Egyptians' attitudes and however large their arsenal, the treaty has held; Cairo has in fact not made war on Israel since 1979. However frigid the peace, peace it has been. To which I [Daniel Pipes] reply: if the mere absence of active warfare counts as peace, then peace has also prevailed between Syria and Israel for decades, despite their formal state of war….”(10) “Does an antique signature on a piece of paper offset Egypt's Abrams tanks, F-16 fighter jets, and Apache attack helicopters. I think not. In retrospect, it becomes apparent that multiple fallacies and wishful predictions fueled Arab-Israeli diplomacy among which is the naïve notion that War can be concluded through negotiations rather than by one side giving up.”
Pipes concludes:“The time has come to recognize the Egypt-Israel treaty usually portrayed as the glory and ornament of Arab-Israel diplomacy as the failure it has been, and to draw the appropriate lessons in order not to repeat its mistakes.”The present author drew the following lesson from Dr. Pipes’ article: “…since the Israel-Egypt treaty of 1979 is a failure … [i.e., since] the Egyptians continue to hate Israel and the Egyptian government persists in its bellicose attitude toward the Jewish state—why should any rational person expect the Arab Palestinians to abide in peace with Israel if given an independent and sovereign state?" I therefore concluded [four years ago on May 20, 2009], that only fools and scoundrels—in Washington or elsewhere—would advocate Palestinian statehood. And all that has changed is the change for the worse marked by the instability in Egypt and the rest of the Arab world.

Mursi supporters plan more protests in Egypt

By Yasmine Saleh and Shadia Nasralla-july 13,13
CAIRO (Reuters) - Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood called on Saturday for more mass demonstrations in support of ousted President Mohamed Mursi after a huge pro-Mursi march broke up peacefully before dawn, ending a week in which at least 90 people were killed. The Brotherhood, which has maintained a vigil near a Cairo mosque since before the army removed Mursi on July 3, has said it will not leave the streets until he is restored to power.Mursi, Egypt's first freely elected leader, has been held incommunicado since he was deposed in what the military says was a justified response to popular demand after millions of people demonstrated against him. The Brotherhood denounces the army coup as a reversal of democracy.Turmoil in the most populous Arab state has alarmed Western donors. Egypt sits astride the Suez Canal and has a strategically important peace treaty with Israel.Large crowds of Brotherhood supporters finally dispersed before dawn on Saturday after marching through the streets into the early hours holding up Mursi pictures at traffic lights.Tens of thousands had turned out on Friday for what the Brotherhood called a "day of marching on".Mursi's opponents say those demonstrations are still much smaller than the ones that brought Mursi down. The Brotherhood has showed its organizational muscle and persistence by keeping its vigil running into a third week and bringing in coach loads of supporters from the provinces for big marches, despite summer heat and the Ramadan fasting month. At one stage, hundreds of demonstrators stood behind barbed wire shouting at soldiers a few dozen meters (yards) away."I am here to say 'no' to the military coup and 'yes' to Mursi, who I see as my legitimate president," said Ahmed Adel, a 22-year-old student, in downtown Cairo.
The interim authorities have issued arrest warrants for the Brotherhood's leaders, including Essam El-Erian, who issued the call for more demonstrations on Monday."Egypt decides through the ballot box, through protests, mass marches and peaceful sit-ins," Erian said on Facebook.
PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS
Friday's demonstration passed off peacefully, in contrast to deadly violence a week earlier when 35 people were killed in running battles between pro- and anti-Mursi demonstrators. On Monday, 57 people were killed when the army fired on Mursi supporters near a Cairo barracks. The army says it was responding to an attack by terrorists; the Brotherhood says its partisans were massacred. The United States has refused to say whether the army takeover was a "coup", which under U.S. law would require it to cut off aid including $1.3 billion a year in military support. In recent days it has described Mursi's rule as undemocratic because of the vast popular protests against him, but also urged the authorities to release him and stop detaining his followers.Turmoil since a popular uprising toppled President Hosni Mubarak in 2011 has wrecked Egypt's economy, scaring away tourists and investors, draining hard currency reserves and making it difficult to import food and fuel, which the government distributes at heavily subsidized prices.State news agency MENA said a shipment of 70,000 tons of diesel arrived in Alexandria on Saturday from Turkey and Sweden.Rich Arab Gulf states Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, happy at the overthrow of the Brotherhood, have offered Egypt $12 billion in cash, loans and fuel.Egypt's interim authorities have set out a "road map" to restore full civilian rule, calling for a new constitution and parliamentary elections in about six months, to be followed by a presidential vote.A judge has been named interim president and a liberal economist, Hazem el-Beblawi, has been appointed prime minister. He is trying to cobble together a cabinet likely to be made up mainly of technocrats and liberals, without offending a large ultra-orthodox Islamist group that broke with the Brotherhood to accept the military takeover. Beblawi told Reuters on Saturday he expects to name the cabinet within two days.Egypt's crisis has raised fears over security in the lawless Sinai peninsula bordering Israel and the Palestinian Gaza Strip, where militants attack security forces checkpoints almost daily. The headline in state-run Al Gomhuria newspaper read: "Sinai's Purification Operation within Days", referring to a possible army offensive against militants in the region. But a senior army officer, who asked not to be named, said this was unlikely to take place immediately because forces are now focused on keeping the peace during political turmoil.Security sources said on Saturday a Palestinian had been arrested in Egypt on suspicion of carrying out attacks on a natural gas pipeline.(Additional reporting by Yusri Mohamed in Ismailia; Writing by Peter Graff; Editing by Alistair Lyon)
