There are many lands around the world that have been occupied not so long ago by other countries. Many of them are still subjugated to the rule of an occupying power. They were conquered during offensive or defensive wars, throughout the process of establishment of statehood or as a part of colonial and imperial policy.
The following is a far from complete list of the currently occupied lands:Great Britain - It still occupies 17 provinces of Ireland, Gibraltar and is holding on to the many residual symbols of her former colonial glory around the world.France - It is still holding on to many overseas territories like New Caledonia and French Guinea. France and Spain already divided the land in question and have no intention of granting independence to the Basque people, the oldest indigenous living group known in Europe.Belgium - This is an artificially forged country, which was created in order to protect the Netherlands from continuous attacks by France. There is still no love lost between the French and Flemish speaking populations of the country.China - The international community has done nothing to stop occupation of Tibet by China. Eastern, predominantly Muslim, provinces of China are still under imperial communist rule.

Chile - From the 1840s, heavy Anglo-Chilean investments were made in nitrate mining on the Bolivian coast. Bolivia lost its coastal region after the war of 1879-1884. Since then, Bolivia has been economically stifled by Chile with limited access to the sea ports.Indonesia - It was painful for Indonesia to allow freedom to East Timor. International pressure was applied only because huge oil reserves off the coast of East Timor were found. But there is no pressure in relation to the continuous occupation of Bali, West Papua and numerous islands that would love to obtain independence from the Muslim tyranny of Jakarta.Panama only proclaimed its independence after the US expressed interest in obtaining the rights to the canal, which Colombia had refused. US marines landed in Panama the same day that independence was declared.Russia has no plans to return the Eastern part of Poland it has occupied since before WW2 and end occupation of eastern Prussia, the Kuril Islands and Southern Sakhalin. Russia still retains its status as an imperial power by holding on to Chechnya , Dagistan, North Ossetia, Tatarstan and many other national enclaves which were occupied by Tsar.USA - The biggest and leading democracy of the world is one of the biggest occupiers as well. There is no intention of even talking about compensation for, never mind returning, the occupied land which used to be, not long ago, a part of Mexico. What about Puerto Rico, Hawaii and other strategic interests? The United Nations maintains a list of territories that do not govern themselves. The list was initially prepared in 1946 and adopted in 1986. It has officially endorsed control of these lands by their former colonial powers! That means the UN has officially justified occupation! It should be remembered that most countries around the world (including USA, UK, France, Germany, China and Russia) were forged and established their current borders during the last 300 years. Their creation was accompanied by dramatic conquests and the destruction of unique and independent cultures. In a Russian play one character asked the audience: Look, who are the judges? Yes, who are they to tell Jews what is their land and to force Israel to give away Jewish land to Arab scoundrels? Israel is the only country that can claim its statehood and ownership of the land.Jewish people have over 3,000 years of spiritual and historical connection with the land.

Israel is the only state which withdrew from the Sinai Peninsula after it was conquered during a defensive war.In exchange, Israel received the worthless piece of paper called the Peace Agreement with Egypt.And yet, Israel is the only country under international pressure to surrender her own land to the enemy, a recently forged people - called Palestinians, whose only goal, they are not even hiding it, is to destroy the Jewish state.There are three reasons that Israel is under such international onslaught - Traditional international anti-Semitism, a desire to sell out Israel in exchange for a steady supply of oil, and an appeasement of Islamic terrorists in order to defer attacks on the West!

Does it make sense?

What definitely takes place and make sense is that the world's economic and political powers (Puppet Masters) apply pressure on Israel and use any means at their disposal, including manipulation of international law.An example of this is what was done after Israel won the War of Independence. Immediately, the Fourth Geneva Convention ruled out population transfer as a legitimate way of resolving conflicts - that is, when it suits their economic and political interests, with complete disregard to historical, spiritual and even legal rights of any people, not just Jews (remember ongoing dismantling of Yugoslavia and non-existence of Kurdistan - the homeland of 35 million Kurds, divided and occupied by five countries).The multitude of international organizations - including the UNRWA, IRC, Amnesty International etc - are at full disposal of the international Puppet Masters and only too eager to assist by generating and manipulating public opinion - creating the illusion of propriety.The bottom line: it is all about power, control and beyond doubt, as always, it is about money!

According to Newsmax, it is believed that North Korea may have tested a Super-EMP weapon back in 2009….

Remember, all it would take is one strategically placed EMP attack to wipe out this nation.But an EMP weapon is not the only danger that can produce this type of effect. The truth is that a really bad geomagnetic storm could also potentially producealmost as much damage.This is something that everyone knows is one of our biggest vulnerabilities and it is something that we can make preparations for.Yet the Bush administration and the Obama administration have just stood there and have done nothing.

Sadly, common sense seems to be in very short supply in Washington D.C. these days.So if the government is not going to do anything about it, that means that it is up to you to prepare yourself and your family. This world is becoming very unstable and disasters can strike at any time.We all saw what happened after Hurricane Katrina. The government response was a nightmare. An EMP attack would be millions of times worse and the federal government probably would not even be able to get you and your family any assistance.You would truly be on your own.

Under the plan, euro zone bonds — blue bonds — would be issued jointly and collectively up to the value of 60 percent of each euro zone member state’s gross domestic product (GDP). Borrowing beyond that level would require an individual state to issue red bonds without the collective guarantee of the euro zone, with the market likely to charge a higher yield to reflect the additional risk.The disparity in financing costs between blue and red bonds — potentially, a jump of more than 50 percent by some estimates — would be a big incentive for euro zone countries to bring their debts rapidly down to below 60 percent of GDP, the limit originally targeted by the EU.
2) Separately, Berlin-based economist Hans-Joachim Dubel has proposed creating European sovereign bonds — dubbed purple bonds — that are part-insured by the EU’s rescue fund, the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF).Each bond would be split into senior and junior tranches, with the senior section, around 60 percent of the total, insured by the EFSF and its successor, the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).The ESM would become a monoline bond insurer that in the event of a default would pay investors quickly and in full on 60 percent of their assets, while the junior debt could be restructured. Such junior debt could trade separately after a default.The dual structure of the bond would mean sovereigns are charged a higher interest rate than for blue bonds, reflecting the implicit 40 percent first loss carried by the uninsured junior tranche. So the mechanism would still provide an incentive to avoid excessive debt issuance when times are good.

Baby-Three separate studies recently published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives indicate prenatal pesticide exposure to fetuses negatively impact a child’s learning ability. Their IQs tend to be lower. The greater the umbilical cord pesticide blood levels, the lower the child’s IQ.

Research Focus

These toxins originated mostly from conventional agriculture’s heavily sprayed foods. But farmers and farm workers were studied the least.The three studies focused mostly on urban dwellers who consume those sprayed foods. One was done in UC Berkley, CA, another by Columbia University in NYC, and the other by Mt. Sinai Hospital researchers, also in NYC. It doesn’t get much more urban than that.

What’s Bad About Pesticides

Most effective pesticides contain different types oforganophosphates. As of the turn of our current century, many nations had bannedchlorpyrifos and diazinon, from domestic use. Those two pesticides were so heavily loaded with organophosphates that just having bug and ant poisons stored in one’s domicile caused health problems to occupants.Organophosphates (OPs) are spinoffs from biochemical warfare research to create nerve gases for killing humans. Scientists soon discovered that the OPs killed bugs too. Of course, the usual toxicology index that protects the industry is based on the notion that if you don’t drop dead soon after exposure to any chemical agent, it’s safe! But eventually, long term neurological deterioration was detected among OP users,even if they hardly used them. The link was made to these organophosphate nerve gas components in chlorpyrifos and diazinon. They were disallowed for home use, but not for agricultural use.

Vice Prime Minister Silvan Shalom convened a meeting of supporters Sunday in which he wished Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a successful journey to the United Nations, where the Palestinian Authority will ask for recognition as a state, and asked him not to zigzag.From here, we all send the Traveler's Prayer (Birkat haDerech) to Prime Minister Netanyahu, that he will stand firm for the path of the Likud and the principles we all believe in, the former Foreign Minister said.The Prime Minister should know that he represents each and every one of us and the overwhelming majority of the citizens of the State of Israel, which demands insistence on the maintaining the completeness of the land and the vital interests of the State of Israel.Only a government that is loyal to its path and determined to safeguard its values, a government that will not zigzag, is one that will receive respect and honor in the Arab world.Some Israeli politicians who were born in Arab countries believe they are better acquainted with the Arab mentality than Ashkenazi Jews whose fathers lived in Europe. Last Thursday I attended a luncheon, organized by The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations to honor departing Moroccan Ambassador H.E. Aziz Mekouar. The usual pleasantries were exchanged, and the Ambassador spoke of his country’s new constitution and warm relationship with domestic and International Jewish communities.When asked about the possibility of Morocco taking on a leadership role in opposing the upcoming United Nations vote for Palestinian Arab statehood, Mekouar declined to answer, referring instead to Morocco’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mohammed Loulichki who was seated beside him.In the most diplomatic and soft spoken fashion Loulichki explained that the UN declaration isn’t really the biggest deal. He essentially argued that since almost everyone has accepted the inevitability of a Palestinian Arab State, and has accepted the Two State Solution to the Israeli- Arab conflict, a General Assembly vote would just go a step further in solidifying this already established acquiescence.If one had to look at it as an outsider, he certainly has a point. There are no legal ramifications to the General Assembly vote and the United States has made clear that it would veto any Security Council Resolution. In truth, for those that accept the Two State Solution as viable, the case against the UN bid is weak. In a UJA Federation e-mailer requesting the recipients to sign a petition against the vote the following case was made. We believe a unilateral declaration will not only undermine the peace process, but violates the existing and agreed upon international framework for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. So on the Palestinian Arab side, the argument is, after years of living as refugees, and coming up against a brick wall with peace talks, we now have no choice but to unilaterally seek support for our State on the international stage.The Jewish counterargument is, although we agree with your end game, we don ’t agree with the way you are going about it. Of course there is more to it, but to a general public that doesn’t have time or headspace for the details, which is more compelling?

It will most certainly endanger more lives, bring about greater bloodshed and continue to propagate the Israeli-Arab conflict. The majority of Israelis are well aware of this and have come to understand it only through the blood and tears of the many slain. Others share the vision of the New Israel Fund associate director who said the disappearance of a Jewish state would not be the tragedy that Israelis fear since it would become more democratic. In actuality disappearance of a Jewish State, would be the tragedy that Israelis fear because it would almost certainly result in a wholesale bloodbath.It is clear that not only Palestinian Arabs, but many other Arabs in the region, are intent on removing Israel and all the Jews that go with it from their midst, as is continuously evidenced by their public statements, their history of actions and demands, as well as their constitutional mandates. Precisely for this reason Jews should adamantly oppose this UN declaration and all other efforts towards Palestinian Arab independence, recognition and global sympathy. The Jewish side of the UDI argument should be, we oppose this move and similar efforts now and ever, because it is a step towards our destruction and will lead to more bloodshed and pain. Now who has a case? The upcoming activity in the United Nations, as well as the instability of Israel’s agreement with Egypt facilitates a unique opportunity. As a turning point in the Palestinian Arab narrative, it provides a platform for a radical shift in Israeli policy as well. Israel can begin to convey that the unilateral bid and it’s implied demand, land without peace, has indicated to them once again that the pursuit of peace was never an interest of the Palestinian Arabs, and therefore, in order to ensure the safety and security of its citizens Israel no longer sees the Land for Peace formula as valid.Is peace ever a possibility? As Shmuel Katz writes in his 1973 classic Battleground, Peace will not come as long as the powers abet Arab visions of a paradise on earth, encourage them in their hopes of destroying and inheriting Israel, and equip them with the instruments for the undertaking.

Along with the Palestinian Authority's request to the UN to recognize an Arab state in Judea and Samaria, this coming week will see another major anti-Israel event – the Durban 3 Conference, set to open on September 22, one day before the PA is scheduled to submit its request to the Security Council.Judging by the last two Durbans - officially known as the The Durban Declaration and Program of Action – the upcoming round will feature further virulent anti-Israel and anti-Semitic propaganda, likely to be exacerbated by the hoopla surrounding the PA's bid.In response, an organization called the Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) is organizing a protest outside the UN against the Conference, calling for nations to reject its anti-Israel agenda, and to walk out of the Conference as well – or at least to promise not to participate in any more Durbans.While the United States and 11 other countries are already boycotting Durban 3, it's a scandal that another 140 or so will be participating, says JIJ director and protest organizer, Jerusalem attorney Calev Myers. Our message will be a call to the UN to stop obsessively condemning the only democracy in the Middle East.The Durban Conference is the result of deliberations of the UN Human Rights Commission, which has dedicated over 40% of its resolutions to condemning Israel and has Israel automatically on every meeting's agenda – while ignoring true human rights crises, like the current violence by Syrian security officers who have killed thousands of Syrian citizens seeking regime change in the country.

Based on events in a number of countries, it looks like the Arab Spring has turned out to be a big failure, says Myers.But the UN has nothing to say about Syria, Egypt, Libya, or any other place where human rights are truly being violated – only about Israel.The fact that the Conference comes in advance of the PA's bid to the Security Council means that the protest will be even more important, says Myers. We first applied for a permit for this protest six months ago, long before the PA made its decision on its statehood bid, says Myers.The rhetoric at the Conference is likely to be even more anti-Israel than in the past, so a strong presence protesting the proceedings is especially important this year.Myers expects anywhere between 5,000 and 20,000 participants at the protest – most of them non-Jewish, thanks to the assistance of Eagles' Wings, a group of Evangelical Christians in the New York City area who are very pro-Israel.We've invited Jewish groups as well, of course, says Myers. But having a large group of Christians demonstrating for Israel on these days will make an important statement.And while many Eagles' Wings member churches have expressed a strong willingness to attend the protest, the final number we expect is up in the air, because it's going to be very hard to navigate around New York City this week,says Myers, adding that in any event, we intend to uncover the face of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activity at the UN, and express pride in the fact that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East.

Columbia University students will dine with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday in what has become an annual debate on liberalism and terror.University president Lee Bollinger made it clear he will not join the students, following an incorrect report in Fox News, which later issued a correction. Before Fox News corrected the report, the Israel Law Center (Shurat HaDin) sent a warning letter to the university, stating that Columbia's plan to host a banquet for visiting Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad runs afoul of U.S. anti-terror laws and will subject the university and its officials to both criminal prosecution and civil liability to victims of Iranian-sponsored terrorism in Israel or elsewhere.The university stated, At no time has there ever been any university event planned or considered involving the president of Iran, nor has there ever been any plan for a dinner involving the Iranian president and President Bollinger.Bollinger previously has termed Ahmadinejad a petty and cruel dictator.The university’s Spectator reported that 15 students of the Columbia International Relations Council and Association were invited to a dinner with Ahmadinejad Wednesday. Three days later, Fox News incorrectly reported that Bollinger would be joining the students at the dinner. Members emphasize that the dinner itself is also still tentative.

The University has issued a statement denying any involvement in the dinner, and adding that the news stories fundamentally misstate the University’s role in this unconfirmed possible encounter. Simply put, there never was one. In fact, at no time has there ever been any university event planned or considered involving the president of Iran, nor has there ever been any plan for a dinner involving the Iranian president and President Bollinger.Four years ago, Columbia’s World Leaders Forum invited Ahmadinejad to speak on campus. UN needs $357 million to cope with Pakistan floods

ISLAMABAD – The United Nations appealed for $357 million Sunday to help millions of Pakistanis affected by floods that have damaged hundreds of thousands of homes and destroyed millions of acres of crops.Pakistan often experiences flooding from monsoon rains that lash much of South Asia from June to September. This year the rains have been heavier than normal, coming as many people were still trying to recover from last year's floods, which were the worst in the country's history.The money from the appeal would be used to help more than 5.4 million people in the provinces of Sindh and Baluchistan over the next six months, said Humaira Mehboob, a spokeswoman for the U.N.'s humanitarian arm. Those provinces have been the worst hit by the floods this year.The floods have killed 223 people in Sindh alone, damaged or destroyed around 665,000 homes and displaced more than 1.8 million people, according to a rapid response plan issued by the U.N. on Sunday.The situation of the people who have been forced to leave their homes is dire, and there is clear evidence of growing humanitarian needs, said the response plan.The return of the floods is testament to the heaviness of the monsoon rains and the limits of Pakistan's weak and corrupt government, showing up its ineffectiveness in the crisis.

As they did last year, the floods are undercutting the legitimacy of the shaky government, which is already widely disliked and struggling against Islamist militants, ever present political turmoil and massive economic problems.In 2010, the floods followed the course of the River Indus and its tributaries from the foothills of the Himalayas to the flatlands of Sindh, where the river empties out into the Arabian Sea.As much as one-fifth of the country's landmass and 20 million people were affected at the peak, making it one of the largest natural disasters in recent history. The U.S. army deployed helicopters to ferry victims and aid around the country, and the U.N. and other international aid groups also helped.Many of those countries, including the U.S., have mobilized again this year to help flood victims. The U.S. has said it paid for food packages for 23,000 families and its local partners will soon begin handing out tents, clean water and other supplies. Japan and China have also pledged relief goods or money, according to the Pakistan government.The magnitude of disaster is much beyond the capacity of Pakistan, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani told flood victims on Sunday.

Five international central banks have decided to provide special loans of US dollars to European banks in a bid to restore confidence in their ability to survive a Greek default.The European Central Bank (ECB), using dollars swapped for euros from the US Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, the Bank of Japan and the Swiss National Bank will make the loans available at fixed interest rates on a three-month basis in three separate auctions, with the first auction on 12 October.The move was unveiled on Thursday (15 September), the third anniversary of the collapse of the Lehman Brothers bank in 2008, which heralded the start of the global financial crisis.It follows a ratings agency downgrade earlier this week of French lenders Credit Agricole and Societe Generale, as well as an agency warning on BNP Paribas.The three banks have a collective exposure of €42 billion to Greek sovereign bonds, which are rated at junk status. Fears of a Greek default have seen US lenders shut down loan facilities to exposed European banks in recent weeks, creating a potential liquidity crisis.The announcement saw shares in the banks recover a large chunk of losses made earlier in the week and the euro rise almost one percent against the dollar.Speaking at an event in the Woodrow Wilson Center think-tank in Washington on Thursday, the recently-appointed French chief of the International Monteray Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, said: We have entered into a dangerous phase of the crisis.

Brussels - US lawmakers dealing with data privacy on Thursday (15 September) said their legislation needs to be improved but warned against following the EU model, which in their view has a sporadic and inconsistent enforcement.Looking at the 'burden' of EU data privacy laws on US companies, representatives dealing with trade and commerce in the US Congress said that America's legislation needs to be upgraded to better protect against identity theft and security breaches, but that government has a tendency to overreach.Republican congresswoman Mary Bono Mack said EU online privacy laws have sporadic and inconsistent enforcement, with a seemingly disproportionate number of American companies targeted for compliance violations.EU directives at some point crossed paths with Murphy's law. Anything that can possibly go wrong, does,she said.Democratic congressman G.K. Butterfield said the EU data protection law sounds fine in principle, but it is not applied in the same way across the bloc. For businesses that have to navigate the laws of these 27 different countries, some regulations can feel pointless, some paperwork and record-keeping burdensome, and some enforcement actions unfair,he said.On the part of the US government, Nicole Lamb-Hale from the International Trade Administration reassured representatives that the Obama administration is not looking to copy the EU model and its problems with enforcement, but that the US needs to upgrade its privacy laws to give more confidence to other countries when exchanging data.Smartphone apps for instance are currently not covered by US privacy laws and Congress has to update that, in order to protect consumers and promote international trade,she said.

Meanwhile, a joint EU-US consumer group has protested against the tone of the hearing, putting too much emphasis on the bureaucratic burden and less on the privacy problems that come with increased collection of personal data by various websites and online services.The Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue said it was somewhat surprised by what appears to be an effort to call into question the purpose and burden of the EU data protection directive at at time in the US there are spiralling levels of identity theft and security breaches.The US discussion is being closely watched by the EU's consumer organisations, as the bloc itself is about to revamp its laws in the area. Legislation in this field dates back to 1995.It’s our strong interest as the commission refurbishes the EU regulatory framework on data protection that it doesn’t bow to mere commercial interests. A clear answer needs to be repeated that laws on data and privacy should apply to all companies operating in Europe, but not based here,said John Phelan from Beuc, the umbrella group representing consumer organisations.

The head of an EU task force for Greece said on Thursday that the aim of the newly established body is to support the country, not to dictate what must be done as it attempts to slash its public debts.The austerity measures have been met with protests (EUobserver)The task force is here to help, not to control, the task force’s chief, Horst Reicherbach told reporters in Athens.The 25-member task force, the bulk of which will remain in Brussels, has been set up to aid the absorption of EU funds aimed at kick-starting growth in the troubled country and advise on how the economy can be reformed.In particular, Reichenbach said that the task force will focus on accelerating the deployment of European monies to develop tourism, alternative energy and food processing projects and businesses.The new team is distinct from the inspectors of the EU, International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank troika, who descend upon Athens to assess whether the government is meeting the conditions imposed by international lenders for the latest dispersal of tranches of bail-out cash.However, the task force will also nevertheless issue quarterly reports on how the country is advancing in its structural adjustment.The body will also aid in the construction of a new tax system.Greece needs a better tax collection system and we will help to implement this, he said.The Greek authorities have already worked on this with the International Monetary Fund and there is a large degree of agreement.Arriving in the Greek capital, Reichenbach met Prime Minister George Papandreou and deputy prime minister Theodoros Pangalos.He joined the chorus of EU leaders backing up Greece’s efforts to tame its debt-load.I’m convinced that by common efforts we can make progress to help Greece make it and there’s determination to do so on both the Greek and European sides, he stressed.
There is enormous political will in Greece and political will at the European level to keep Greece in the euro zone.The task force arrived in the country as fresh government data showed that unemployment in the country has soared to a record 16.3 percent, up from 11.8 percent in the second quarter of 2010.Meanwhile youth unemployment has hit 32.9 percent.

Separately, the Council of Europe, a human rights body unconnected to the EU, issued a warning on Thursday that austerity in Ireland - like Greece the subject of an EU-IMF bail-out - could undermine the human rights of some of the most vulnerable in society.A report from Thomas Hammarberg, the council’s human rights commissioner, warned: Budget cuts planned in Ireland may be detrimental for the protection of human rights. It is crucial to avoid this risk, in particular regarding vulnerable groups of people.The report was issued in the wake of a visit by Hammarberg to Ireland in June.He called on Dublin to ensure that in the process of slashing spending, the government assess carefully all budgetary cuts in order to avoid any undesired effects.He mentioned education, health and housing as areas for concern, and highlighted his worries about allegations of neglect of senior citizens in privatised old people’s homes.

Polish foreign minister Radek Sikorski in a private conversation with US diplomats in 2008 said that Germany protects Russian interests in Nato in return for access to the Russian market.Inspecting war damage in Georgia. They'll play with Russia and in return German companies will get hundreds of billions of euros of business there, a pretty good deal.Sikorski made the comment after Germany opposed giving Georgia and Ukraine a Membership Action Plan (MAP) at a Nato summit in Bucharest.The Nato decision came shortly before the Russia-Georgia war in the summer of 2008. Several commentators later said a positive MAP decision would have prevented the conflict, which has ended up with Russian occupying two Georgian provinces.Germany at the time was ruled by a coalition of the centre-right CDU and centre-left SPD parties. The then SPD foreign minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, was openly pro-Russian and is a close associate of former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who now works for the German-Russian gas pipeline firm, Nord Stream.Polish-German and Polish-Russian relations have warmed up in the past two years.

But Germany in March sided with Russia in abstaining on the UN Security Council vote giving Nato a mandate for Libya air strikes. And Sikorski has a long-established name in EU circles for being outspoken on German-Russian relations.At a meeting in Brussels in 2006 he compared the German-Russian deal on the Nord Stream pipeline to a secret World War II-era German-Russian pact to carve up Poland. Poland has a particular sensitivity to corridors and deals above our head ... That was the Molotov-Ribbentrop tradition, he said.In 2009 Russian newswire Interfax apologised to the Polish minister for misquoting him as having said that Poland wants US troops to be stationed on its soil to act as a shield against Russian aggression.While the quote was incorrect, other cables in the massive Wikileaks cache slowly coming to light indicate that Sikorski's thinking goes precisely along this line.Speaking to US diplomats in May 2009 on the subject of relocating US soldiers from their Cold War bastion in Germany to Poland, the minister said: As a border state with Russia, Poland feels less secure than other Nato members.In a cable dated 25 November 2009, he said: In the event of a Russian attack against Crimea or another part of Ukraine, Poland would find it difficult to stand by. Although he recognised that the probability of such an attack was low, he alluded to Soviet actions in 1956, when Moscow took advantage of US distraction in the Middle East by sending Soviet tanks into Budapest.In a cable dated 12 November 2009, he Quoted [former US secretary of state] Zbigniew Brzezinski, who observed that what really assured Germany during the Cold War was not [the Nato treaty's mutual defence clause] Article 5, but the presence of 300,000 American troops. This September is likely to be a black September – but only for the United Nations General Assembly and the relationship between Israel and the Palestinians, says a speech prepared by Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin.The PA seems to believe that the UN will serve as an Israel bypass route allowing it to achieve statehood without making concessions, Rivlin says. This approach is fundamentally delusional, he adds.Rivlin is to speak Monday at the grand opening of a new cultural center in Kiryat Arba.
Similar statements were made Sunday by Yaakov Amidror, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s advisor on national security. The PA’s bid for recognition will put it in an untenable position, he declared.Only negotiations will bring positive results for either side, said Amidror, adding that Israel has been calling to resume negotiations for some time.

Erekat hinted that if the PLO dismantles the PA, it would subsequently insisting on the right of return for millions of Palestinian refugees to Israel.Abbas said that his extensive and sincere efforts to reach an agreement that would end occupation and lead to an independent Palestinian state through negotiations have hit a dead end, blaming Israeli intransigence.We seek to gain membership in the UN on the basis of the 1967 borders so that we could afterward return to the negotiations on a clear and internationally recognized reference.Abbas said that the statehood bid was only part of the Palestinian strategy that is designed to put the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital back on the geography map.He also cautioned Arabs in PA enclaves against resorting to violence, stressing that support for the statehood bid should be peaceful. The United States has begun a diplomatic campaign to get a majority in the United Nations Security Council against the Palestinian Authority’s bid for unilateral statehood. The U.S. is hoping that, with support from others on the council, it can avoid using its veto.American officials have declared that they will veto the PA move if necessary, leaving PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas without official UN approval for his plan for an Arab state on the entire territory of Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
Other countries on the Security Council are China, Germany, France, Russia, Britain, Brazil, Lebanon, India, Colombia, Gabon, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some, such as Russia and Lebanon, have already pledged their support to the PA.Meanwhile, Israeli leaders are continuing their own diplomatic efforts to counter the unilateral move, which they believe will undermine chances for peace by ending negotiations. A unilateral decision at the United Nations will prevent, in the future, the necessary concessions on their side necessary for peace, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently warned.Netanyahu is to speak at the UN prior to the vote. He has tried to keep expectations realistic, saying last week, I will speak the truth to whoever is interested in hearing it.Both Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman will take part in a series of diplomatic meetings prior to the vote. Barak is to leave Sunday for a round of meetings in the United States, while Lieberman will begin in Canada, later joining Netanyahu in New York for the UN vote.

The Palestinians' attempt to be accepted as a member of the UN is what they declared – one year ago – as their objective; this is what Abu Mazen [Abbas] recently declared as a goal. This attempt will fail. It will fail because it must go through the UN Security Council….Concerning a non-binding resolution, he pointed out, The UN also has the General Assembly in which almost any decision can be passed. It is possible to decide there that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east, and this would pass there. But it has neither the same weight nor the same importance. This is not the Palestinians' avowed goal. Even there it is possible that there will be various actions in their regard. We are coordinating our efforts with those of the US and with other important countries, in Europe and beyond.He said he will address the General Assembly and present our truth…– the fact that we are not foreigners in this country [and] that we have rights in this country that go [back] only 4,000 years….In my opinion, after the dust settles and after everything that is happening at the UN, in the end, the Palestinians will regain their composure, I hope, and will shelve these moves that are designed to bypass negotiations. Abbas also said, When you say that there are settlement blocs as an existing fact or that the refugees problem will be solved within the Palestinian state – this is what they presented [and] we will never accept these sayings.Abbas’s statements imply that it is the Palestinian Authority that should define the character of Israel.
Recognizing Israel as Jewish would undermine the Saudi Arabia 2002 Initiative, which he has adopted. The initiative calls for Israel to accept as citizens approximately five million Arabs living in foreign countries who claim Israel as their home.

Police in Jerusalem are preparing for the possibility of disturbances as the Palestinian Authority goes to the UN this week to ask for recognition as a state. A number of potential responses have been weighed, including changes to the school schedule and the light rail train route.IDF Radio reported Sunday that schools in the eastern part of the city may close temporarily, if terrorists threaten principals.In addition, the light rail train may alter its route to avoid the neighborhood of Shuafat. The majority-Arab neighborhood has been the site of several attacks targeting Jews, and there is concern that rioters may attempt to disrupt the train.The train is designed to be resistant to rock attacks and firebombings.The city is also prepared for the possibility that many of its thousands of Arab employees may not show up for work on the day of the statehood bid – or may even join riots.

Former Jerusalem police commander Mickey Levy downplayed fears of riots originating in the capital itself. There may be some disturbances in villages outside Jerusalem, but that is no cause for concern, he told IDF radio.The concern is the possibility of marches beginning in Judea and Samaria, or in villages near the capital, that head toward Jerusalem, he said. There is no doubt that there will be disturbances, but they will not begin in Jerusalem… The momentum will come from outside, he predicted.

Worldwide pro and anti-Israel rallies outside the Arab world the past few days revealed lopsided support for Israel, with 800 pro-Israel Christians rallying in London and 150 pro-Arabs, including 20 anti-Zionist Jews, in New York.Mainstream headlines spreading fear of huge protests, and even a Third Intifada in Israel, have failed to ignite the Arab street, where most demonstrations have been limited to numbers ranging from a few dozen to 200.Outside of Israel, enthusiasm for the Palestinian Authority also has been limited to college campuses and anti-Israel advertising on buses and subway trains.A pro-Arab rally in New York City’s Times Square attracted a grand total of 150 people on Thursday, including 20 Netura Karta anti-Zionists.On the other hand, 800 Christians from Scotland, Wales and England turned out last Tuesday for a pro-Israel demonstration across the street from the Parliament.One Member of Parliament came over to the group and said that King George the Fifth was a Zionist, according to rally spokesman Tim Gutmann. Visiting Israelis came to us and said they had come to see Big Ben and could not believe their eyes when they saw the rally, Gutmann added.One man said he was hesitant to wear his kippa in London, but now felt that he could wear it with pride, he continued.It was amazing to stand with and for Israel with 800 other Christians. I believe that a huge voice of love and support for Israel is now boldly rising from the United Kingdom church, and with all our hearts we want Israel and the Jewish people to know at this crucial time - You are not alone and we will not be silent.

Op-Ed: Blaming Israel Won't Help

Were Israel to be attacked she would be on her own—and she would blamed for daring to defend herself. But something is very wrong in the Muslim world that is bigger than Israel.Prof. Phyllis Chesler

On September 16, 2011, the New York Times actually used the word Islamist in a front page story—not as often or as prominently as the word militant but still, there it was—and in an article titled At White House, Weighing Limits of Terror Fight.For all those who are invested in the Lie that the infidels (i.e. Western civilization} are not under attack, allow me to point out that the anti-Israel and anti-American Paper of Record had, altogether, three articles on the front page about Afghanistan, Bahrain, and about Islamist militants in Yemen and Somalia as well as about Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, based in Yemen, and the Somalia-based Shabab;Al Qaeda operating in Afghanistan…and in the tribal regions of Pakistan.In this same issue, the Times also has articles which focus on or mention Jordan, Palestine, Turkey, Afghanistan, Libya, Bahrain, Lebanon, Yemen, Somalia, Pakistan, and the Arabian Peninsula.Even the Times knows that something is up, something has gone wrong, very wrong in terms of the Muslim world, that it is far bigger than Israel, and that it won’t get better merely by blaming Israel or America.

In my opinion, were Israel to be attacked she would be on her own—and she would blamed for daring to defend herself. This has already happened many times. While the war against the Jews is very hot, it is almost invisible in the western media.As we know, (but allow me to remind us), in August of 2011, Israel endured 178 Hamas/Palestinian terror attacks which included 145 rockets and 46 heavy mortar shells fired into the south of Israel.That same month, Israel also endured a heavy surge of hostile, apparently civilian Arabs crossing Israel’s borders from Syria and attempting to do so from Lebanon, which included the Lebanese Army opening fire on a group of Israeli soldiers.Also in August, terrorists (Hamas? Al Qaeda? PLO?) crossed into Israel from Egypt, wearing Egyptian military uniforms, and killed seven Israeli civilians, including young children; they wounded at least thirty Israelis. The attacks against Israel in August alone were three times greater than all the attacks against Israel this year.During this same time, the Turkish Prime Minister demanded that Israel apologize for defending herself from a Turkish-launched terrorist attack (the Marvi Marmara incident) and threatened to send Turkish warships into the Mediterranean to accompany a new flotilla to break the Israeli siege of Gaza.And right around 9/11, Egyptian police forces allowed angry and hate-filled demonstrators to overrun the Israeli Embassy in Cairo; Prime Minister Netanyahu made no progress for the safe release of the Israeli security guards trapped in the building; only a phone call, eight to ten hours later, from President Obama presumably persuaded the Egyptians to help the besieged Israelis escape.

Finally, on September 13, 2011, the Turkish Prime Minister blew more smoke, this time in Cairo when he got the crowd to roar its hatred for Israel. He is in a dead heat competition with Iran for leadership of the Caliphate.During this time, no one really came to Israel’s aid on the ground or in the world’s media. During this time, the various world-wide demonstrations against Israel, calls for a Palestinian state at the UN, and calls for the boycotting of Israel continued unabated. (I have no way of knowing what went on behind the scenes in terms of help offered or refused).True, Israel may turn out to have some unexpected allies (Cyprus, the Kurds, India, Greece—maybe even Saudi Arabia) and yet, Israel is surrounded by surging human forces of hate as well and she is really, truly on her own.Yesterday, I spoke with Mayor Ron Nachman of the mainly secular city of Ariel in the Shomron (Samaria). He agreed with my assessment—an assessment shared by others-- that Israel is essentially on her own. Let me quote him at length.Israel can’t trust anyone, including America. American policy has been mistaken for six decades. America refused to move its Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. That tells us what we need to know.Now, the Arab Palestinians saw they could not get Israel to agree to commit suicide and so they turned to the United Nations. The solution is really between Israel and Jordan. Jordan is the real Palestinian state. And by the way, when Jordan annexed the West Bank and Samaria from 1948-1967, no journalist called it an occupation. It is only occupied when it is in Jewish hands.What is this phrase: The West Bank? The West Bank of the moon? The sun? The West Bank of America? We need to use the right language. Is California the West Bank of America? And by the way, would Americans agree to allow Mexicans and Canadians to carve out a corridor from San Diego to Vancouver so that both non-American groups can come and go without American oversight? This is what Israel is being asked to do.

And what is the meaning of the 67 lines?’ Do people really understand that Israel is only nine miles wide, just as wide as the distance from the south to the north of the borough of Manhattan? Giving up any more land means that Israel is non-defensible.Words and how they are used and misused continues to create problems.
The Wall.What is that? Think of it as a gated community. There are walls all over the world that are never singled out. Only Israel’s security fence is.The Arabs simply refuse to accept a Jewish state. A two state solution will not lead to peace. It will lead to more attacks on Israel. They gave Yasser Arafat a Nobel Peace Prize but he brought bloodshed, not peace. Everyone shouted Land for Peace. It only led to Arab attacks on Israel again and again.Mayor Nachman, said I, Nu, what is your solution to this intractable dilemma? Solution? At this rate, we need a five state solution. Jordan is one, Israel is the second, Judea and Samaria are a third, Gaza is a fourth—and the Israeli Arabs want autonomy as well.My friend and colleague Israeli Arabist, Dr. Mordechai Kedar, believes in a confederation of cantons, with local governmental autonomy on many issues and a federal government for security and other issues, based on Dr. Kedar’s understanding of tribal loyalties and conflicts and the Arab inability to create both large and stable modern nation states.I ask Mayor Nachman if he believes that Israel can defeat Iran. He says, cryptically:It is not good to push someone whose back is already against the wall.

29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

DEUTERONOMY 30:1-20
1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,
2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:
5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
9 And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

DETERONOMY 62:10-63:09
10 Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.
7 I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

NEW TESTAMENT PORTION

ROMANS 9:30 - 10:13
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

HEBREWS 12:14-15
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
