Critics have labeled the creation of the Super Congress a subversion of the representative form of government. Recommendations made by the committee, which will be headed up by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, cannot be amended or filibustered. Congress can only vote yes or no. If the proposals are rejected, pre-arranged spending cuts are automatically triggered.The committee has already taken steps to ensure that it will be little more than a tool for the Obama administration and RINO Republicans by moving to bar lawmakers who voted against the debt ceiling from being included on the 12-member panel. This guarantees that Tea Party representatives like Senator Rand Paul will have no say in how the body operates.Second Amendment advocacy groups like Gun Owners of America fear that the Super Congress could move beyond its effort to control the nation’s purse strings and focus on enforcing gun control legislation, a legitimate concern given the fact that Harry Reid has already insisted there will be no constraints on the committee and that it will have the ability to look at everything.The Obama administration has already signaled that it will become the de facto deciding 13th member of the committee following White House Press Secretary Jay Carney’s admission that the government would work with the Super Congress to hike taxes in 2012 and beyond.

The so-called debt ceiling crisis has nothing to do with the government running out of money. It is about the creation of a super committee, a council of thirteen, designed to circumvent Congress and ignore the will of the American people.The ruling elite have a plan to take America down. Despite the fact Congress usually does whatever the globalists tell them to do, certain members hold up the agenda by holding hearings and introducing resolutions on everything from the Federal Reserve to the globalist wars in the Middle East, South Asia and now Africa.
The handpicked super Congress – six members from the Senate, six from the House, and the president forming a committee or gang of 13 – will now push through the elite’s agenda behind closed doors in direct violation of the Constitution.Like the Supreme Soviet, the Council of 13 will take on the trappings of democracy – because the committee was proposed by elected officials, namely Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and his counterpart Majority Leader Harry Reid with the consent House Speaker John Boehner – but will act as dictatorship by committee. If allowed to stand, the United States will have its own Central Committee, just like the former Soviet Union.The Constitution allows each house of Congress to set its own rules. Early on, debate and filibuster were added to the rules. The Committee of 13, however, will strip Congress of its power to filibuster. It will prevent the Speaker from stopping a vote in the House. 69% Say It’s Likely Scientists Have Falsified Global Warming Research Wednesday, August 03, 2011

The debate over global warming has intensified in recent weeks after a new NASA study was interpreted by skeptics to reveal that global warming is not man-made. While a majority of Americans nationwide continue to acknowledge significant disagreement about global warming in the scientific community, most go even further to say some scientists falsify data to support their own beliefs.The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 69% say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs, including 40% who say this is Very Likely. Twenty-two percent (22%) don’t think it’s likely some scientists have falsified global warming data, including just six percent (6%) say it’s Not At All Likely. Another 10% are undecided. The number of adults who say it’s likely scientists have falsified data is up 10 points from December 2009 .Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe there is significant disagreement within the scientific community on global warming, up five points from late 2009. One in four (25%) believes scientists agree on global warming. Voters have been almost evenly divided on whether human activity or long-term planetary trends are to blame for global warming since May of last year .Regardless of the cause of global warming, adults remain divided on whether to take action or not. While 40% believe Americans should take immediate action to stop global warming, 42% suggest waiting a few years. Americans were just as divided back in February 2009 .But 47% now believe the media makes global warming appear to be worse than it really is, down from 54% in February 2009 . Nineteen percent (19%) say it makes the situation look better than reality, while the same percentage (19%) thinks the media presents an accurate picture of global warming. Another 15% are undecided.
Out of three scenarios, 30% of Americans say a period of dangerous global warming is likely to occur, while just four percent (4%) say a dangerous ice age is more likely. Half of adults (50%) say something in between is most likely to happen. Another 16% are not sure. These findings are little changed from past surveys.Sixty-seven percent (67%) are following news stories on global warming at least somewhat closely, while 32% are not.While a majority of U.S. voters still feel discovering new sources of energy is more important than reducing energy consumption, the number who feel this way has fallen to a new low. TSA screeners are about to implement Orwellian behavioral inspections at airport security checkpoints. Who are these TSA screeners? These are the same low-level, incompetent, scandalous, molesting, abusive, and in some cases criminal people who have been creating one scandal after another. So what will these scandalous, incompetent and criminal police be doing to detect suspicious behavior? Most likely you have guessed it right.

They will be watching you and maybe questioning you to determine whether you are suspicious, a suspect, or not. How are they going to do that, and based on what guidelines? According to their vague description, they will be looking for your micro expressions, such as lack of eye contact, acting agitated or nervous, that might hint at nefarious intent. How much hint is needed to be pulled over as a suspect? They don’t say. How agitated is considered suspiciously agitated? They don’t say that either. How much eye-aversion would count as a suspicious level of eye-aversion? They say nothing on that. How do the odds of being chosen by them increase by their own mood, biases, and various psychoses? Well, they don’t mention that either.Basically, a bunch of already-proven incompetent, abusive, biased, and criminal people who have been high on their government-given limitless powers will be freely using their subjective judgment on whether you look or act suspicious, or not. Now I want you to think about agitation, eye-aversion, nervousness, being stressed out, being shy …Think about it, and then calculate the odds of you being determined a suspect, thus one of their chosen ones:If you are one of those Starbuck’s addicts used to running on several shots of espresso, then place a good size bet on being one of the many TSA chosen ones. You know you are going to be jittery, and TSA will probably read your jitteriness as an ultimate indicator of your suspiciousness. You’ll be chosen.If you are one of many ladies out there (like myself) with temperament-changing and mood-swinging monthly menstruation cycles, quickly check out the calendar and make sure your next flight does not coincide with that time of the month.If you are one of those parents travelling with children, some of them in their terrible twos-threes or fours, see if you can ship the kids via cargo. We all know how frustrating and agitating it can be to travel and handle kids that age-especially when we go through shoe-removing, belt-removing, patting and groping checkpoints. Your frustrated and agitated state will probably land you in the circle of TSA’s chosen ones.

Think of those abusive bigot cops incidents, multiply that several times, and there: those are the odds of you being selected as one who looks suspicious, thus a suspect, and therefore a chosenone.If you happen to be shy, then you are totally out of luck. Barroso: EU moving too slow on debt crisis

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Eight of Europe's biggest banks have announced tens of thousands of job cuts in Britain, France, Spain and Switzerland in a bid to reduce salary costs, but will keep expanding and hiring new staff in China.Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), a British conglomerate which is Europe's biggest bank, on Tuesday (2 August) announced 30,000 job cuts worldwide by 2013 - about 10 percent of its staff. Most of these cuts will affect its EU and US branches, in a bid to save some €2 billion in salary costs.In France, where HSBC employs some 10,000 people, the bank has told 672 people to go on early retirement, Le Monde reports.The British bank has not scaled down its expansion plans in emerging markets such as China, with some 15,000 staff to be hired in the area in the coming three years.China's a strategically important market, where investments and the number of employees will grow. HSBC won't slim its operations in China, Peter Wong, the bank's CEO for Asia-Pacific told reporters in a press conference in Shanghai.More than 5,000 people have been hired in Asia in the first half of this year and the trend will continue in China, he added.The bank will also expand its branch network in China, where it now has over 150 outlets. Wong said HSBC would seek to get as many licenses as possible from Chinese regulators to expand in the country, including for mutual funds - a market that has recently been opened up to foreign banks.Another British bank, Barclays, has announced global staff cuts of 3,000 for this year, half of whom are being let go in Britain. The bank aims to scale its personnel down to 146,100 by the end of the year.

Lloyd's, the third big British bank to mirror the trend, plans to make some 15,000 people redundant by the end of 2014 out of its 106,000 employees. Lloyd's still depends on public subsidies to finance its activities, after being seriously hit by the financial crisis in 2008.In Switzerland, UBS has announced it will make some redundancies to cope with the new rules for the financial sector, without giving precise figures. According to Swiss media, the tally could reach 5,000.At the end of last week, UBS announced it has just set up a new asset management unit in China and said it will continue to expand there, however.China's strong economic growth has positioned the market as one of the most promising emerging markets globally and resulted in a booming domestic equity investment market, Xinyuan Ling, the chairman of UBS global asset management said in a statement.Other personnel cuts have been made public by Credit Suisse (2,000) in Switzerland, Bankia (2,879) in Spain, where it will close down 476 branches, and Intesa Sanpaolo in Italy (3,000 cuts).France's BNP Paribas also wants to slash 244 jobs in the mortgage sector.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Spain and Italy's record borrowing costs are astonishing after a eurozone deal reached less than two weeks ago, EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy said on Tuesday (2 August).Italian and Spanish 10-year bonds dropped in value, while German bunds rose on Tuesday, pushing the difference in costs (yields) to 381 and 397 points, respectively - a record high since the euro was introduced 12 years ago.The valuations reflect persisting market concerns that the eurozone crisis is far from over and that a Greek-style bailout with a partial default and private sector involvement may be on the cards for other troubled Mediterranean countries.

Cyprus has also made headlines after its economy was dealt a blow on 11 July when 2,000 tonnes of gunpowder stored inappropriately under open sky exploded, wiping out the island's main electric power plant. Political instability and exposure to Greek debt are adding to the mix, with ratings agencies predicting it may be the next country in line for a bailout.So far, the EU commission is maintaining the same line as for other countries which ultimately were given a financial rescue package - that nothing of that sort is being discussed.The question of a programme of emergency aid is certainly not on the table, Chantal Hughes, a commission spokeswoman for economic affairs said on Tuesday in a press conference.Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero delayed his holiday departure and Italian finance minister Giulio Tremonti decided to travel to Luxembourg on Wednesday for a snap meeting with Jean Claude-Juncker, chair of the eurozone finance minsters' meetings.For his part, Van Rompuy, who brokered the eurozone deal on Greece, precipitated by the very same rising costs as for the Italian government, has tried to allay market fears in an op-ed published in several European newspapers.Astonishingly,he writes, since our summit the cost of borrowing has increased again for a number of euro area countries. Cyprus bank warns against bad EU bailout

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The Bank of Cyprus on Monday (1 August) warned that any further delay in appointing a government may lead to an EU bailout with everything bad that entails.With our inaction we are risking the ability of refinancing the state and the consequences will be instant and serious, a statement from the largest Cypriot commercial bank said after President Demetris Christofias failed to put together a new cabinet over the weekend.Christofias ordered the resignation of the government last Thursday.The move came three weeks after a blast at a naval base which killed 13 people and wiped out the island's main power plant. Estimates say the blast will cost the country a 17 percent drop in GDP this year.Meanwhile, residents in the capital, Nicosia, have been advised not to use air conditioning devices despite scorching heat. Daily power cuts have also become commonplace since the 11 July explosion.

Both Standard & Poor's and Moody's ratings agencies last week downgraded Cyprus' bonds due to the political and economic crisis.Angry protesters have been asking for Christofias to leave, blaming leaders for having left 2,000 tons of munition festering in the summer heat despite warnings by military experts.There is an immediate threat of the country entering the European Union's support mechanism with everything bad that entails,the Bank of Cyprus noted. Time has run out. We are at that turning point at which history will judge us. It's time for immediate and effective action.For its part, the EU commission on Monday denied that it is discussing financial assistance for the small island nation.The issue of financial assistance package is not on the table,it said in a statement.We are confident the Cypriot authorities will fulfil their commitments. And fully expect them to do what is necessary ... A British Parliamentary Select Committee has just published a report that confirms the obvious - Britain has suffered strategic shrinkage and can no longer be regarded as a front line power.The parliamentarians claim that the budgetary and foreign policy are not aligned. It was impossible to starve the military forces for resources and then tack on a mission in Libya.We can only conclude that the Government has postponed the sensible aspiration of bringing commitments and resources into line, in that it has taken on the new commitment of Libya while reducing the resources available to the Ministry of Defense.The strategic shrinkage inevitably would produce an influence shrinkage unless the government could show improvements in military capabilities that compensated for the cutbacks. The committee concluded that the government could not demonstrate such improvements.

The report was particularly scathing about the cancelation of the Nimrod project. The earlier version of this project was credited with facilitating the reconquest of the Falklands Islands from Argentina in the 1982 Falklands (or Malvinas) War by using this advanced radar plane to detect the presence of enemy vessels prior to amphibious landings. The modernization of the program had involved huge cost overruns but the project was nearing completion upon its cancelation.Across the Atlantic, the trend is in the same direction. In the recently concluded battle over the debt ceiling in the United States some liberals saw the cuts in defense spending as one of the silver linings of the debate. Either because, like Israel bashing Peter Beinart, they are opposed to the War on Terror or because they are convinced that Republicans like Senator John McCain who swallowed hard as he voted for defense cuts will ultimately prefer higher taxation to further defense reductions.The West is going to cut military spending as China, India and Brazil increase spending. Terrorists from the Gaza Strip fired on Wednesday evening a Grad rocket at the Lachish region. The rocket fell in an open area between Sderot and Kiryat Gat, close to one of the communities in the Lachish Region.One woman suffered anxiety from the fall, but no other injuries were reported and no damage was done.Army Radio reported that the Red Alert siren was heard in the communities in the area just before the rocket fell. The report noted that this is the farthest that terrorists have fired a rocket into Israeli territory since before Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in 2009.The report also said that the rocket was likely fired by a terror group which opposes the Hamas government in Gaza.Later, a second Grad rocket was fired from the Gaza region. The rocket slammed into an open area near the city of Ashkelon. There were no reports of physical injuries or damage.The Red Alert siren was sounded before this rocket fell as well.On Monday, a Kassam rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip towards southern Israel. It landed in an open field near Ashkelon, wounding a Bedouin woman in a nearby tent.In response, IAF aircraft targeted a terror activity site in the northern Gaza Strip and a smuggling tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Knesset approved in the first reading Wednesday a government-sponsored law that would organize and reframe the legal means for fighting terrorist organizations.
Some parts of the law will replace some of the British-era emergency orders of 1945, which are no longer deemed necessary. It is intended to give modern tools for the prevention of the existence and operation of terror organizations, for disrupting the organizational and financing infrastructures that maintain them, for catching perpetrators and bringing them to justice.The law would provide a mechanism for declaring a group a terror organization, including the possibility of declaring an institution, a faction or branch operated by terror group members as a terror organization. This will be possible even if some of the organization's activity is legal.The law also specifies new categories of terror offenses including the management of a terror organization, recruitment and membership in a terror organization, manifestation of identification with a terror organization, incitement to terror, assisting terror and non-prevention of terror.Punishment for a terror act as defined by law will be doubled and the duration of what Israeli law considers a life sentence for terror will be extended.The law widens the police's authority in preventing terror and closing down venues that serve terror organizations in their activities.28 MKs voted in favor and 11 against. Haitian tent cities brace for huge tropical storm

PORT-AU-PRINCE (AFP) – Hundreds of thousands of Haitians living in squalid makeshift camps hunkered down Thursday as lashing rain and wind from the edge of Tropical Storm Emily hit the quake-stricken country.US weather experts warned of torrential rain and life-threatening flash floods and mud slides once the brunt of Emily reaches Haiti, heaping more misery upon the impoverished Caribbean nation.The some 300,000 Haitians still living in makeshift camps almost 19 months after a catastrophic January 2010 earthquake may have to battle up to 20 inches (50 centimeters) of rain cascading down muddy, denuded hillsides.Haitian officials have raised a red alert and called for the evacuation of tent cities at risk, many perched on hillsides long since stripped bare of any trees, chopped down to use as fuel and building materials.Authorities are asking people in refugee camps... to evacuate vulnerable locations,said Haiti's civil defense chief Alta Jean-Baptiste.

Haiti's weather service chief Ronald Semelfort warned Emily would be a great danger for the country still fragile from the January 2010 earthquake.The Miami-based National Hurricane Center said in its 0900 GMT advisory the center of Emily was to hit Haiti's southwestern peninsula later Thursday, but that the system was already bringing severe rainfall to eastern Hispaniola, the island Haiti shares with its wealthier neighbor the Dominican Republic.The center of Emily was some 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Isla Beata, in the far southern tip of Hispaniola, the NHC said.The storm was packing winds of 50 miles (85 kilometers) per hour, with higher gusts. It was moving at a snail's pace of seven miles (11 kilometers) per hour, but was expected to accelerate in the coming hours as it turned slightly to northwest On the current forecast track, Emily was to move over extreme eastern Cuba Thursday night.Emily is forecast to dump between six and 12 inches (15 and 30 centimeters) of rain with isolated amounts of up to 20 inches (50 centimeters) possible over Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the NHC said.Some weakening is possible as Emily interacts with the high terrain of Haiti and eastern Cuba,it said, with re-strengthening possible when it moves over the Bahamas.Coastal areas were warned of a storm surge which will raise water levels by one to three feet (up to a meter) and be accompanied by large and dangerous waves.Shipping was banned along Haiti's southern coast as Emily approached, and Semelfort said the entire country would be affected by the storm.Haiti is still recovering from the devastating 2010 quake, which killed an estimated 225,000 people. The country has also been battling an outbreak of cholera, which has killed 5,506 people and infected 363,117.A team of Cuban doctors in Haiti were on standby to prevent any further outbreaks of the water-borne illness.People living in unsafe housing will be the worst affected if flooding hits, Harry Donsbach, the earthquake response director in Haiti for the Christian charity group World Vision, said in a statement on Wednesday.Landslides are of course a threat, but even simply heavy rain has the potential to worsen the volatile sanitation conditions in camps, which, with cholera still prevalent in Haiti, is a serious concern, Donsbach said.In the Dominican Republic, a maximum red alert has been sounded across six provinces, and all water and outdoor leisure activities suspended.Mandatory evacuations were declared in a dozen villages near dams, and Dominican officials warned residents in other areas.

MIAMI – U.S. government forecasters are updating their Atlantic hurricane season outlook, just as the peak period for hurricanes begins.In May, forecasters said they expected three to six major hurricanes from an above-average season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will update those predictions Thursday.The six-month Atlantic hurricane season began June 1, but the peak period for hurricanes runs from August through October.Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Emily is expected to make landfall on Haiti's southern peninsula after dawn Thursday and dump torrential rains across a country where more than 600,000 people still live without shelter after last year's earthquake.Emily is the season's fifth named storm. Last week, Tropical Storm Don fizzled to a tropical depression just before crossing the Texas coastline.

Storm abates after killing seven in Thailand

BANGKOK (AFP) – Seven people have died in flooding across northern Thailand caused by the tail end of tropical storm Nock-ten, which left more than 60 people dead in the Philippines, officials said Thursday.Rising waters affected the livelihoods of almost half a million people, with 16 provinces inundated since last week, Thailand's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said.Twelve people were injured and four remain missing in floods and mudslides caused by unusually heavy rain across north and northeastern parts of Thailand due to Nock-ten, which has been downgraded to a depression, the department added.Nock-ten, named after a Laotian bird, left at least 66 people dead and 17 others missing in the Philippines when it struck the country last month.Most of those killed in the Philippines were said to be drowned or buried in landslides, while most of the missing were fishermen who vanished at sea when the storm hit.Nock-ten also claimed one life in Vietnam when it arrived late Saturday.

Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Emily may spell disaster for the people of Haiti. After the January 2010 earthquake that rocked the Caribbean country, more than 200,000 people died. Now, more than a year and a half later, more than 600,000 people are still living in tents in settlement camps with poor conditions and things may be about to get much worse thanks to Emily.According to Accuweather.com, Tropical Storm Emily is due to track through the Hispaniola region tonight and Thursday, bringing threat of torrential rains and mudslides to a country that still has not recovered from seismic devastation.Accuweather reported that several displaced persons living in the settlement camps have no canvas roofs to sleep under and many are simply sleeping out in the open in parking lots.As Emily passes over the island that Haiti shares with the Dominican Republic (Hispaniola), the potential is for rain up to one foot which would lead to even more misery and devastation for the people of Haiti and the Dominican people. Such intense rain and accompanying winds is almost certain to result in deadly mudslides and flash flooding.According to a U.S. Geological Survey report, official estimates held that the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010 resulted in 300,000 people injured, 97,294 homes were completely destroyed and 188,383 were damaged -- all in the Port-au-Prince and southern Haiti areas. In total, 1.3 million people were left homeless by the earthquake. It is estimated that about 2 million people lived in the quake area that received the heaviest structural damage.

Haiti is a country prone to natural hazards such as tropical storms and hurricanes from June to October as it lies in the hurricane belt between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean. Flooding, earthquakes and periodic droughts are also natural hazards in Haiti.In October 2010, an outbreak of cholera was confirmed in Haiti, even though it was initially believed to have been an unlikely risk scenario following the earthquake. Because cholera outbreaks occur when the illness is present in a population and it was uncertain how it was re-introduced into Haiti, poor living conditions in post-earthquake Haiti (breaches in water, sanitation and hygiene in large groups of people thus permitting food and water to be contaminated when cholera is present in the location). To date, the cholera outbreak has killed over 5,000 people in Haiti.Not quite two months ago, in June, the country was struck by several days of rain that triggered flooding and mudslides that left more than 20 dead.

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) – Oppressive heat and record temperatures baked the southern Central Plains on Wednesday with the mercury soaring to a blistering 115 degrees in one Arkansas town, breaking a record set in the 19th century.Little cool relief was in sight for the region, which sweated through myriad broken records. The National Weather Service issued excessive heat warnings for much of the region and parts of the Southeast and Southwest.A cold front moving through the Midwest began cooling parts of the country's midsection, NWS meteorologist Jim Keeney said. Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri will see temperatures drop into the 80s later in the week with a chance of rain.South and southeast parts of the country were predicted to swelter under high heat and humidity through next week, he said.Southern and central states have had little chance to cool down overnight, said Accuweather.com senior meteorologist Paul Walker. Nighttime lows have settled in the upper 70s and low 80s, he said, with temperatures quickly rising during the day.You don't get relief. You still have the sticky, warm feeling overnight,Walker said.

Record-breaking temperatures that began earlier this week continued on Wednesday, with the mercury hitting 115 degrees Fahrenheit in Fort Smith, Arkansas in a heat event for the ages, shattering a record of 107 set in 1896.In Tulsa, Oklahoma, the temperature reached 112 degrees, breaking the record of 110 set in 1923. In neighboring Texas, Wichita Falls counted its 43rd day of over-100-degree temperatures, a new record for that city.The Texas power grid agency initiated an electric emergency on Wednesday for a second day as demand soared during the unrelenting heat wave. No rolling outages were reported.But the grid operator warned that power to some industrial customers might be curtailed if demand continues to climb.In Nashville, emergency officials distributing bottled water on the streets. And in Memphis, police and fire departments went door to door to check on people identified as most vulnerable to the heat, city leaders said.This summer is already one of the hottest on record, and the current heat wave is expected to continue through Thursday, Mayor A.C. The National Weather Service said fewer heat related deaths have been reported during this stretch of hot weather, but the unrelenting heat has already been blamed in the death of an assistant football coach in Plano, Texas.Garlen Wade McLain died on Monday of heat-related illness associated with a heart condition, according to the Collin County Medical Examiner's Office. McLain, 55, collapsed after practice at the Prestonwood Christian Academy near Dallas.In Charleston, South Carolina, high school football coaches were taking preventive measures against the heat with players practicing in shorts and helmets, taking frequent water breaks and even plunging into cool-down tubs.In Nashville, the National Football League's Tennessee Titans coaches were deciding whether the ballclub would practice outdoors in the afternoon as scheduled, or move inside an air-conditioned bubble, according to Alex Garmezy in the media relations office.High school football players in Tennessee just began practicing in full pads this week. Some coaches have moved their practices to earlier in the morning or into the evening.The Northeast basked in more pleasant weather on Wednesday with temperatures in the 70s in New England, New York and northern Pennsylvania, according to The Weather Channel.Washington, D.C., and Baltimore were looking at possible showers on Wednesday, with the potential for thunderstorms predicted from Philadelphia to New York, according to AccuWeather.com.

Radiation firing body scanners have been yet again proven ineffective and unpractical after alarms were set off repeatedly at an Australian airport by passengers with sweaty armpits.As Australian Transport Minister Anthony Albanese described the scanners as the most advanced passenger screening technology available in the world, one of the machines set off an alarm unnecessarily three times on the second person to walk through it during a $6 million trial at Sydney airport.
Security staff blamed the passenger’s armpits for upsetting the machine.reports The Australian Daily Telegraph.Although the report above makes a big deal out of the fact that naked images are not produced by the machines, it has previously been revealed that the machines do indeed still produce such images, which are merely masked from public view by stick figure software.In response to questions over privacy and potential safety issues, the transport minister replied ..unfortunately we live in an unsafe world, and in those circumstances this government will ensure that people’s security is looked after.Albanese further noted If it comes down to a body search or a pat-down, that will be able to be conducted with privacy.A final decision on a mandatory Australian airport roll-out will be made after a similar trial next month in Melbourne.Last week we reported the fact that Australia is also testing non irradiating body scanners that do not emit any form of energy.However, it is unclear why trials of these scanners have not hit headlines unlike the more crude backscatter devices.

As we reported earlier this week, German police described radiation-firing full body scanners as useless, following a 10-month trial, during which time alarm was unnecessarily raised far too frequently.According to a German federal police report, 35 percent of the 730,000 passengers checked by the scanners set off the alarm more than once despite being innocent.The report noted that an alarm was set off without reason in roughly seven out of every ten cases, adding that the scanners struggled to cope with layers of clothing, boots and zip fasteners, and even the posture of passengers passing through.The report concluded that the machines are too sensitive to movement and operate too slowly to be of any practical use.Other security experts have also previously dismissed the devices as useless security theater.Despite these findings, the Department of Homeland Security in the US plans to roll out hundreds more of the machines into airports across the country, claiming that the machine have passed rigorous safety and efficiency tests, in statements we have repeatedly highlighted as highly questionable at best.

Gun Owners of America chief Larry Pratt warns that the new Super Congress created by the debt deal will lead America into dictatorship, labeling the move a coup d’état by the political class aimed at transforming the entire structure of government in the United States.Comparing the super committee to Plato’s council, Pratt pointed out that it would take just 34 Senate votes to sustain a bill put forward by the group, noting that it has been set up specifically to prevent lawmakers getting in the way of its agenda by necessitating a super majority to overturn anything introduced by the committee.The first act of the next Congress hopefully is going to be to repeal this horrible piece of legislation, Pratt told the Alex Jones Show, adding that the committee could be used to target gun owners, property owners, taxpayers and businesses.This is a game changer, they’ve decided that we don’t need the House of Representatives to originate revenue bills, we’ll just have the ‘super 12′ do that,said Pratt, adding that Barack Obama would become the de facto deciding 13th member.Legislation decided on by the Super Congress would be immune from amendment and lawmakers would only be able to register an up or down vote, eliminating the ability to filibuster.Pratt warned that John Boehner and Mitch McConnell would appoint wusses to the committee, a point emphasized by reports which indicate lawmakers who voted against the debt hike will be barred from selection for the Super Congress. Just two weeks ago McConnell himself argued that the power of the purse, constitutionally ascribed to Congress, should be turned over wholesale to Barack Obama.They’re going to put reasonable people on there – and these reasonable people will be the ones that continue to lead us into dictatorship,said the Gun Owners chief, adding that the move represented a coup d’état by the ruling political class, who are now busy characterizing those who oppose their agenda as terrorists.

Pratt noted how the debt bill was passed on the back of similar threats made before the 2008 bailout vote that warned of an economic apocalypse if an agreement was not reached.They had us all breathless that the country, if we didn’t have something happening today, was going to default. That was a lie and they continued to use it even after members of Congress explained many times, no we don’t default….they stampeded a lot of members of Congress into this,said Pratt, adding that lawmakers figuratively had a gun put to their head.Republican David Vitter shares Pratt’s concern over the intentions of the so-called Super Congress. He has introduced a bill that will require the real time disclosure of campaign contributions to members of the committee. The bill requires members of the Super Congress to report campaign contributions over $1000 dollars within 48 hours.The legislation is aimed at discovering what special interests are trying to influence the committee, according to Vitter.We’re talking trillions in cuts, and there are already threats to increase taxes on many job creators. We need to see full transparency and accountability because these committee members will be making huge decisions with a lot on the line,he added.The whole partisan theater behind the debt debate appears to have been largely manufactured,as President Obama himself labeled it, as a smokescreen behind which to implement the unconstitutional Super Congress. The so-called cuts enshrined in the debt deal aren’t even cuts.Talking points based around the notion that the Tea Party won the debt battle are a complete misnomer. All the bill does is put spending caps on already planned expenditures towards the end of a ten year period. The spending cuts are virtually non-existent, yet a further crippling $9.5 trillion will be added in debt over the next decade.

A Defense Department document leaked to NBC provided a “first inside look at how the U.S. military has stepped up intelligence collection inside this country since 9/11, which now includes the monitoring of peaceful anti-war and counter-military recruitment groups.Northcom also has a unit dedicated to snooping on political activists.In 2002, the Pentagon established CIFA, Counterintelligence Field Activity, by directive. Its size and budget were classified. CIFA created a database, TALON (Threat and Local Observation Notice), to keep track of antiwar activists and individuals opposed to invading and bombing small defenseless countries. After a spate of bad PR, the government said CIFA was to be dismantled. It was later revealed that its operations were outsourced and privatized.The Washington Post admits the DARPA – the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency – plan to hire programmers and researchers to build software to track popular ideas on social networks is political.The plan makes a certain amount of sense, if you think about how Twitter, Facebook and other social media networks have been used to broadcast the ideas of revolutionaries, protesters and other political figures over the past few years, writes Hayley Tsukayama.And, as the report highlights, DARPA could also use the social networks to identify threats. It suggests, for example, that the agency could look into incidences of several people in the same area posting messages about rumors that a wanted individual is hiding nearby.

Designed to control crowds, clear streets, subdue and restrain individuals and secure borders, they are the 21st century’s version of the police baton, pepper spray and tear gas. As journalist Ando Arike puts it, The result is what appears to be the first arms race in which the opponent is the general population.The demand for non-lethal weapons (NLW) is rooted in the rise of television. In the 1960s and ’70s the medium let everyday Americans witness the violent tactics used to suppress the civil rights and anti-war movements.Today’s rapid advancements in media and telecommunications technologies allow people to record and publicize images and video of undue force more than ever before. Authorities are well aware of how images of violence play out publicly. In 1997, a joint report from the Pentagon and the Justice Department warned:A further consideration that affects how the military and law enforcement apply force is the greater presence of members of the media or other civilians who are observing, if not recording, the situation. Even the lawful application of force can be misrepresented to or misunderstood by the public. More than ever, the police and the military must be highly discreet when applying force.

This has lead to a trade-in of old school weapons for more exotic and controversial technologies. The following are six of the most outrageous non-lethal weapons that will define the future of crowd control.

1. The Invisible Pain Ray: The Holy Grail of Crowd Control

It sounds like a weapon out of Star Wars. The Active Denial System, or ADS, works like an open-air microwave oven, projecting a focused beam of electromagnetic radiation to heat the skin of its targets to 130 degrees. This creates an intolerable burning sensation forcing those in its path to instinctively flee (a response the Air Force dubs the goodbye effect).The Pentagon’s Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program (JNLWP) says, This capability will add to the ability to stop, deter and turn back an advancing adversary, providing an alternative to lethal force. Although ADS is described as non-lethal, a 2008 report by physicist and less-lethal weapons expert Dr. Jürgen Altmann suggests otherwise:… the ADS provides the technical possibility to produce burns of second and third degree. Because the beam of diameter 2 m and above is wider than human size, such burns would occur over considerable parts of the body, up to 50% of its surface. Second- and third-degree burns covering more than 20% of the body surface are potentially life-threatening – due to toxic tissue-decay products and increased sensitivity to infection – and require intensive care in a specialized unit. Without a technical device that reliably prevents re-triggering on the same target subject, the ADS has a potential to produce permanent injury or death.The weapon was initially tested in Afghanistan, but later recalled due to a combination of technical difficulties and political concerns, including the fear that ADS would be used as a torture tool making it not politically tenable,according to a Defense Science Board report. The tens of millions of dollars spent to develop the ADS did not necessarily go to waste, however.While the weapon may be too controversial for use on the battlefield, it appears that nothing is too sadistic for use on US prisoners, so the ADS has since been modified into a smaller version by Raytheon, for use in law enforcement. Last year, the renamed Assault Intervention System (AIS) was installed at the Pitchess Detention Center’s North County Correction Facility at the behest of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). Former LASD Commander, Charles Sid Heal had been lobbying for the pain ray for years, calling it the Holy Grail of Crowd Control, due to its ability to make people scatter almost instantly.

The device is operated by a jail officer with a joystick, and is intended to break up prison riots, inmate brawls and prevent assaults on officers. Sheriff Lee Baca added that it would allow officers to quickly intervene without having to physically enter the area to incapacitate prisoners.The ACLU claims that use of such a device on American prisoners is tantamount to torture. The organization even sent a letter to the sheriff in charge, demanding he never use the energy weapon against inmates. The idea that a military weapon designed to cause intolerable pain should be used against county jail inmates is staggeringly wrongheaded, said Margaret Winter, associate director of the ACLU National Prison Project. Unnecessarily inflicting severe pain and taking such unnecessary risks with people’s lives is a clear violation of the Eighth Amendment and due process clause of the U.S. Constitution.The pain ray’s use in the Pitchess Detention Center is a pilot program. If successful, the weapon could find its way into other prisons around the country. The National Institute of Justice has also expressed interest in a hand-held, rifle-sized, short-range weapon that could be effective at tens of feet for law enforcement officials.

2. The Laser Blinding Dazzler

The Personal Halting and Stimulation Response rifle, or PHaSR, is a massive laser shooter. PHaSR technology is being co-funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program (JNLWP), and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and is being developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory. While JNLWP is interested in the technology for military applications, NIJ is focusing on its law enforcement use.So what is the purpose of this light-shooting toy? Well, it won’t kill you, but it will temporarily blind you — or as the NIJ prefers to say, it will dazzle you into disorientation — by shooting you with two low­-power diode­-pumped lasers.Protocol IV, the Blinding Laser Protocol of the United Nations Convention on Conventional Weapons, states that, The use of laser weapons that are specifically designed, as their sole combat function or as one of their combat functions, to cause permanent blindness to unenhanced vision is prohibited.After the US agreed to the Blinding Laser Protocol in 1995 under President Clinton, the Pentagon was forced to cancel several blinding laser weapon programs that were in the works. But the PHaSR rifle can skirt this regulation because the blinding effect is apparently temporary due to its low-intensity laser.According to a U.S. Air Force fact sheet, The laser light from PHaSR temporarily impairs aggressors by dazzling them with one wavelength. The second wavelength causes a repel effect that discourages advancing aggressors.The JNLWP website says that a significant amount of research and experimentation is still required to gain a full understanding of the safety, military effectiveness, and limitations of these future capabilities.

3. The Taser on Steroids

The Albuquerque Police Department now has Taser shotguns in its arsenal. Most of us are familiar with hand-held Tasers and understand that they only work if the police are standing pretty close to you (about 20 feet).But Taser has developed the Taser X12, a 12-gauge shotgun that instead of firing lethal bullet rounds, is designed to fire Taser projectile rounds. Known as Extended Range Electronic Projectiles (XREP), the XREP cartridge is a self-contained, wireless projectile that delivers the same neuro-muscular incapacitation bio-effect (a fancy way of saying electric shock) as the handheld Taser, but up to 100 feet.According to a July 21 press release, Taser International has taken the XREP to the next level, teaming up with the Australian electronic gun company Metal Storm to enhance the 12-gauge Multi-Shot Accessory Under-Barrel Launcher (MAUL).The two companies will combine Metal Storm’s MAUL stacked projectile technology to provide semi-automatic fire as fast as the operator can squeeze the trigger,which boasts a full weapon reload of up to five rounds in less than two seconds. Picture five rounds of Taser XREP cartridges flying out in less than two seconds up to 30 yards away — that is the plan.In September 2010 Raw Story reported that the rate of Taser-related deaths were on the rise. The story cited an Amnesty International report from 2008 that found 351 Taser-related deaths in the US between June 2001 and August 2008, a rate of just slightly above four deaths per month. About 90 percent of the victims were unarmed and did not appear to pose any serious threat, according to an article in the Boston Review. The Amnesty report points out that Tasers are inherently open to abuse as they are easy to carry and easy to use and they can inflict severe pain at the push of a button without leaving substantial marks.In Amnesty’s US 2010 report, the Taser-related death toll had increased to 390. If the MAUL-Taser combined shooter find its way into police departments around the country, it may not bode well for the rate of Taser-related deaths.Another project of Taser International, which was unveiled in 2009, is the Shockwave Area-Denial System, which blankets a large area with electrified darts, and a wireless Taser projectile with a 100-meter range, helpful for picking off ringleaders in unruly crowds. In 2007, Taser’s French distributor announced plans for a stun-gun-equipped flying saucer that fires stun darts at criminal suspects or rioters; however, it has yet to be unveiled. Clearly there is no limit to Taser International’s capacity for creativity.

4. Calmative Agents for Riot Control

Calmatives are chemical or biological agents with sedative, sleep-inducing or similar psychoactive effects. Although the 1997 Chemical Weapons Convention prohibits the use of riot control agents in warfare, JNWLP and NIJ have long considered calmatives for both military and law enforcement applications, such as dispersing a crowd, controlling a riot or calming a noncompliant offender.The most well-known and widely used riot-control agents are tear gas (CS) and chloroacetophenone (CN), also known as mace. A few ways that more advanced non-lethal calmatives might be administered, depending on the law enforcement environment, would include a topical or transdermal skin application, an aerosol spray, an intramuscular dart, or a rubber bullet filled with an inhalable agent.In the March 2010 issue of Harper’s magazine, Ando Arike gives an extensive overview of riot control technology in his article The Soft Kill: New Frontiers in Pain Compliance.He wrote:Pentagon interest in advanced riot-control agents has long been an open secret, but just how close we are to seeing these agents in action was revealed in 2002, when the Sunshine Project, an arms-control group based in Austin, Texas, posted on the Internet a trove of Pentagon documents uncovered through the Freedom of Information Act. Among these was a fifty-page study titled The Advantages and Limitations of Calmatives for Use as a Non-Lethal Technique,conducted by Penn State’s Applied Research Laboratory, home of the JNLWD-sponsored Institute for Non-Lethal Defense Technologies.

Penn State’s College of Medicine researchers agreed, contrary to accepted principles of medical ethics, that the development and use of non-lethal calmative techniques is both achievable and desirable,and identified a large number of promising drug candidates, including benzodiazepines like Valium, serotonin-reuptake inhibitors like Prozac, and opiate derivatives like morphine, fentanyl, and carfentanyl, the last commonly used by veterinarians to sedate large animals. The only problems they saw were in developing effective delivery vehicles and regulating dosages, but these problems could be solved readily, they recommended, through strategic partnerships with the pharmaceutical industry.Little more was heard about the Pentagon’s advanced riot-control agent program until July 2008, when the Army announced that production was scheduled for its XM1063 non-lethal personal suppression projectile, an artillery shell that bursts in midair over its target, scattering 152 canisters over a 100,000-square-foot area, each dispersing a chemical agent as it parachutes down. There are many indications that a calmative, such as fentanyl, is the intended payload—a literal opiate of the masses.

5. Screaming Microwaves That Pierce the Skull

Researchers are in the process of developing the Mob Excess Deterrent Using Silent Audio or MEDUSA (that’s right, from Greek mythology), which uses a beam of microwaves to induce uncomfortable auditory sensations in the skull. The device exploits the microwave audio effect, in which short microwave pulses rapidly heat tissue, causing a shockwave inside the skull that can be detected by the ears. MEDUSA’s audio effect is loud enough to cause discomfort or even incapacitation. It may also cause a little brain damage from the high-intensity shockwave created by the microwave pulse.MEDUSA’s intended purpose is deterring crowds from entering a protected perimeter, like a nuclear site, and temporarily incapacitating unruly individuals. So far the weapon remains in development and is funded by the Navy.

6. Ear-Splitting Siren

The Long Range Acoustic Device, or LRAD, built by American Technology Corporation, focuses and broadcasts sound over ranges of up to hundreds of yards. LRAD has been around for years, but Americans first took notice when police used it in Pittsburgh to ward off protesters at the 2009 G-20 summit. It is generally used in two ways: as a megaphone to order protesters to disperse; or, if they disobey, as an ear-splitting siren to drive them away. While LRAD may not be deadly, it can permanently damage hearing, depending on how it’s used.Similar sonic blasters have proven deadly. One is the Thunder Generator, an Israeli-developed shock wave cannon used by farmers to scare away crop-threatening bird. According to a Defense News reportlast year, the Israeli Ministry of Defense has licensed a firm called ArmyTec to market the Thunder Generator for military and security applications.It works using gas from a cylinder of domestic liquid petroleum, which is mixed with air and then detonated, producing a series of high-intensity blasts. Patented pulse detonation technology ensures high-decibel blasts. With an effective range of up to 50 meters, the makers say it is extremely loud but will not do any lasting damage. They warn, however, that within 10 meters the Thunder Generator could cause permanent damage or even death.

The Impact

The application of pain to control or coerce people into submission helps achieve the desired aims of perception management, while sheltering the public from the brutality of such devices.Perhaps these less-lethal tactics for crowd control do result in fewer injuries. But they also severely weaken our capacity to enact political change. Authorities have ever more creative ways to manage dissent, at a time when the need for change by popular demand is vital to the future of our society and the planet.

Media Matters says Jones is linked to the establishment media operation Fox because he praised Beck and Fox for telling the truth about the Federal Reserve, something the rest of the corporate media strenuously avoids.Fox and Beck have since parted ways.

David Morrison, a planetary astronomer at NASA's Ames Research Center and senior scientist at the NASA Astrobiology Institute, wrote, Ignoring plate tectonics as the cause of earthquakes, they suggest that the comet exerted strong gravitational or electromagnetic effects on our planet.When it was pointed out how small the comet actually is – just 2 to 3 miles wide – with no magnetic field and that it won't even pass very near Earth, rumors began to circulate about NASA withholding information about Elenin.Ironically, the inconspicuous nature of this comet plays into some of the conspiracy theories,Morrison told Space. For people who are convinced the comet did cause the earthquakes, this proves that Elenin is not a comet at all, but a much more massive, and dangerous, interloper.Elenin's nucleus could resemble that of Comet Hartley 2 seen here by NASA's Deep Impact mission.Astronomer Colin Johnston at the Armagh Planetarium in Northern Ireland is among those trying to put disaster fears and 2012 hysteria to rest. We've been closer to other comets before with no ill effect,Musgrave said.The comet will pass no closer to us than 84 times the Earth-moon distance, said Ray Villard at Discovery News.Comet Elenin will be at its closest point to Earth in October, during the culmination of God's holy days. Total lunar eclipses often make the moon appear red

As WND previously reported, a minister who promotes the Old Testament roots of Christianity suggests a rare string of lunar and solar eclipses said to fall on God's annual holy days in 2015 could signal the return of Jesus.Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash., noted a coming rare phenomenon of four consecutive total lunar eclipses, known as a tetrad, and often called blood moons since the moon often takes on a bloody color.He says during this century, tetrads occur at least six times, but what's interesting is that the only string of four consecutive blood moons that coincide with God's holy days of Passover in the spring and the autumn's Feast of Tabernacles (also called Succoth) occurs between 2014 and 2015 on today's Gregorian calendar.The fact that it doesn't happen again in this century I think is very significant, Biltz explained.So then I looked at last century, and, believe it or not, the last time that four blood red moons occurred together was in 1967 and 1968 tied to Jerusalem recaptured by Israel.He then started to notice a pattern of the tetrads.What's significant to me is that even before 1967, the next time that you had four blood red moons again was right after Israel became a nation in '48, it happened again in 1949 and 1950 ... on Passover and Succoth. You didn't have any astronomical tetrads in the 1800s, the 1700s, the 1600s. In the 1500s, there were six, but none of those fell on Passover and Succoth.

When checking the schedule for solar eclipses, Biltz found two – one on the first day of the Hebrew year and the next on the high holy day of Rosh Hashanah, the first day of the seventh Hebrew month. Both of these take place in the 2014-2015 year.Biltz says, You have the religious year beginning with the total solar eclipse, two weeks later a total lunar eclipse on Passover, and then the civil year beginning with the solar eclipse followed two weeks later by another total blood red moon on the Feast of Succoth all in 2015.In February of last year, the astronomical community was dazzled with a spectacular unknown object that some felt could be a sign from God, as it they said it resembled a flying cross or a Star of David.The Hubble Space Telescope observed a mysterious, X-shaped debris pattern and trailing streamers of dust that may have been the result of a head-on collision between two asteroids. 38 But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
39 Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
40 But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
41 Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
42 And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
45 And ye returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
46 So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

DEUTERONOMY 2:1-37
1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
2 And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:
5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.
6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites call them Emims.
12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.
13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.
14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.
15 For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
17 That the LORD spake unto me, saying,
18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
31 And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33 And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:
37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.

DEUTERONOMY 3:1-22
1 Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
2 And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
3 So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.
4 And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
5 All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.
6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
7 But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.
8 And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;
9 (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)
10 All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.
12 And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.
13 And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.
14 Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.
15 And I gave Gilead unto Machir.
16 And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;
17 The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.
18 And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God hath given you this land to possess it: ye shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.
19 But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that ye have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;
20 Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God hath given them beyond Jordan: and then shall ye return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.
21 And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Thine eyes have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms whither thou passest.
22 Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.

PROPHETS PORTION

ISAIAH 1:1-27
1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
7 Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
8 And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.
9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

NEW TESTAMENT PORTION

JOHN 15:1-11
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

HEBREWS 3:7-4:11
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
