It is very important that you act according to your state laws because misapplication of the citizen arrest laws can lead to civil or criminal penalties. Seek legal advice in your state before organizing citizen’s arrest teams.For example, California Penal Code mandates:A private person may arrest another:For a public offense committed or attempted in his presence.When the person arrested has committed a felony, although not in his presence.When a felony has been in fact committed, and he has reasonable cause for believing the person arrested to have committed it. (C.P.C. 837).In some states, however, the citizen making the arrest must have actually witnessed the felonious act.That is, California law allows a citizen’s arrest when a citizen has reasonable cause for believing the person arrested to have committed a felony, whereas New York law applies only to situations in which person has in fact committed a felony.
Acceptable guidelines for carrying out a citizen’s arrest also vary by state. In general, the arresting party must notify the suspect as to why he or she is being arrested, and may enter the building or private residence where the suspect is residing, using a reasonable amount of force to apprehend the suspect. In California, for example, to make an arrest, a private person, if the offense is a felony may break open the door or window of the house in which the person to be arrested is, or in which they have reasonable grounds for believing the person to be, after having demanded admittance and explained the purpose for which admittance is desired. (C.P.C., 844).

Once the suspect has been taken into custody by the citizen, it is the citizen’s responsibility to deliver the suspect to the proper authorities in a timely fashion (C.P.C. 847). A citizen making an arrest is acting in the place of an officer of the law, and as such, is required to uphold the same rights and civil liberties as an officer of the law must uphold.Rules of engagement for a citizen’s arrest:Inform local law enforcement, at the time when you are ready to conduct the citizen’s arrest,If an identified law officer intervenes during the citizen’s arrest, then stand down,If union thugs or leftist goons become threatening, inform them that a citizen’s arrest is being conducted. 11 July 2011: Just after 10:00 a.m. on March 23rd, 1973, John Dean, White House counsel to former President Richard M. Nixon advised Nixon of a a cancer within-close to the presidency, that’s growing. It’s growing daily. Within the same breath, he advised Nixon that people are going to start perjuring themselves very quickly that have not had to perjure themselves to protect other people and the like. That cancer became known as Watergate, and eventually led to Nixon’s resignation.Nearly forty years later, another scandal, exponentially larger than Watergate, has the potential to bring down the occupant of the oval office along with other high ranking officials. While no one was murdered as a result of Watergate, two law enforcement officers are dead because of the current scandal that is leading closer and closer to the highest levels of the Obama administration, including the Department of Justice and the U.S. State Department.

Obama’s war on guns

After taking office, Barack Hussein Obama began a coordinated effort with U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to control the purchases and ownership of guns in the United States. To justify the implementation of tougher gun control laws and in a direct assault on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, this administration cited a statement made to Congress by William Hoover, Assistant Director for Field Operations for the BATFE on February 7, 2008. According to that report, 90 percent of the weapons used by the Mexican drug cartels were purchased from or originated from the U.S.That stunning revelation empowered the Obama administration to solicit public support for banning so-called assault weapons in the U.S., and calling for tougher gun control laws. The problem, however, is that the 2008 statement is disingenuous at best.First and perhaps most transparent, it has been noted that only 1 in 5 guns that have been recovered in Mexico actually underwent any form of tracing, leaving 80% untraced. Accordingly, the 90 percent figure is already factually inaccurate.Secondly and perhaps the most scandalous of all is that all figures of cited by this administration pertaining to weapons tracing include weapons sold to the Mexican military via U.S. arms-trading policies under programs such as Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) initiatives. The fact is that the bulk of the arms used by the Mexican drug cartels did not – and do not originate from gun shop sales in the U.S., but from U.S. government sponsored programs that sell weapons and ammunition to the Mexican military as well as other third-world nations.

Many of the weapons used in Mexico and counted in border violence statistics actually arrived in that area from Central American countries involved in U.S. government sanctioned programs administered by the Pentagon and with the knowledge and imprimatur of the U.S. State Department.Interestingly, confirmation of the government’s programs and knowledge by government officials, particularly Hillary Clinton was made public by the recent release of State Department cables published by Wikileaks. The cables prove that the U.S. State Department and Hillary Clinton knew the origins of the bulk of the weapons used by the Mexican drug cartels, although kept this information secret for the greater agenda of U.S. gun control.
Meanwhile, it appears that the Obama administration via Eric Holder, used various weapons tracking programs already implemented to inflate the statistics involving guns originating in the U.S. to advance even tougher gun control measures.Research and investigation indicates that a series of programs implemented under the umbrella of a government sanctioned program known Project Gunrunner were purposely exploited with the knowledge and consent of government officials at the highest of levels.

Project Gunrunner

Part of the Southwest Border Initiative (SBI), Project Gunrunner was an operation that was started under the Bush administration. Ostensibly, the program was established to conduct surveillance, identify and stop the flow of weapons from the U.S. into Mexico and eventually into the possession of drug cartels. The pilot project was initiated in Laredo, Texas by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) in 2005.In April of 2006, the program was expanded to a national level as a weapons interdiction program under the BATFE, formerly known as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).. Project Gunrunner also involved the use of an Internet based weapon tracking system known as eTrace, a program that would permit participating law enforcement agencies to track the origin of confiscated or questionable guns, through their serial numbers, to their point of origin.On April 10, 2008, former Attorney General Michael Mukasey briefed the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations on the status of the project. At that time, Mukasey stated that the ATF has approximately 148 special agents…and 56 industry operation investigators (IOI) responsible for conducting regulatory inspections. Mukasey also stated that the ATF is also expanding its presence at the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) which serves as the central repository and clearinghouse for all weapons related intelligence collected and developed by ATF’s field personnel and attaches in Mexico as well as by all other Federal, State and local law enforcement entities involved in narcotics interdiction and investigation along the U.S./Mexico border.By 2009, Project Gunrunner resulted in approximately 650 criminal cases being filed against about 1400 defendants. These cases involved about 12,000 firearms.It is relevant to point out here that Project Gunwalker is not the name of any ATF operation, but a satirical moniker attached to Project Gunrunner.

Operation Fast & Furious

Under the Obama administration, Operation Fast and Furious was launched in early 2009. Under the umbrella of Project Gunrunner, The BATFE commissioned gun shops in the U.S. to sell weapons to known criminal suspects. Ostensibly, this operation was for interdiction purposes, but the agents involved were ordered not to interdict the weapons. What resulted was a mass amount of weapons that actually and genuinely originated in the U.S., with the knowledge and approval of the BATFE, being permitted to walk unmolested across the southern border (hence the satirical name gunwalker).From early 2009 through December 2010, this process was repeated over and over in the southern U.S. despite the objections of numerous BATFE agents and gun shop owners. During this time, several agents began to notify congress and became whistleblowers about the stand-down orders.On December 14, 2010, the inevitable happened. U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was gunned down in Rio Rico, Arizona by an AK-47 that was walked across the U.S. Mexican border with the knowledge and allowance of the BATFE.In addition to Agent Terry, Immigration Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata was also killed in a separate incident by a weapon allowed to walk into Mexico from the U.S.With the tragic death of agents Terry and Zapata, the blame began to shift to those knowledgeable about the operation, including the acting director of the BATFE Kenneth Melson.

Much bigger than being reported

Unfortunately, the arguably illegal and certainly ill advised methodology implemented by the BATFE is not limited to the Project Gunrunner offshoot of Operation Fast & Furious. Other similar operations, each with the apparent knowledge and approval of the U.S. Justice Department, began to spring up elsewhere. There was also Operation Castaway in Tampa, which mirrored the methods of lack of interdiction as Operation Fast & Furious.According to several agents who are now ready to offer testimony, each operation where weapons were allowed to walk into Mexico from the U.S. was approved at the highest levels of the United States Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of State. Some believe that operations of this magnitude could not have been possible without the knowledge and approval of Obama himself.
Almost 40 years after the biggest scandal to rock the nation, it is again time to ask the question to Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama under oath and in front of congress: What did you know and when did you know it?

Obama lies about Treasury – Threatens our seniors

Regarding the drama queen debt ceiling talks, yesterday Obama stormed out in a huge huff, saying no more.There will be no temporary move and only permanent solutions.He said unless Congress agreed to increase the debt ceiling by Aug. 3rd, all hell will break lose, apparently against our seniors.I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven’t resolved this issue. Because there may simply not be the money in the coffers to do it.Obama told this to CBS News anchor Scott Pelley.What contrived , Rules for Radicals crisis do we have in the making? Obama stormed out yesterday not planning to cut any of his entitlements programs, endless peripheral and waste of money budget items, saying the debt ceiling must be raised. We all know this would start a path of it being raised again and again. The emerging tool and useful crisis for the progressive left and Obama is that seniors might not get paid their social security payments, no doubt because of the evil and uncaring Republicans. Conservatives don’t care about seniors, those with disabilities and women you know.Now lets talk the truth. What is really going on? According to the official Treasury Reports which I read, our coffers have more then enough to pay for all our Entitlement programs, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans and Federal salaries, even throwing in extra for interest. I thought I would blow up from anger going through all this when I interviewed Frank Salvato of www.newmediajournal.us yesterday on air. We walked through the real numbers.

Treasury statements state, on May 16, 2011 the federal government took in $1,333454 trillion in tax revenues. This was from the beginning of fiscal 2011. By July 7, tax revenues had grown to $1,629630 trillion. Do the math. Between May 16 and July 7 our desperate government and Obama who says they may not be able to pay social security soon, took new tax revenue in of $296,176 billion. Here is the bottom line as I take a deep breath. Obama lied again. If he refuses to send out Social Security checks he is full on attacking our seniors and blaming it on the conservatives, when the bold facts show that the new tax revenue of $296,176 billion could easily pay for the $270,151 billion in expenses, meaning Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Veterans Affairs, federal workers wages and insurance benefits. They would still have $26,025 billion in more tax revenue after that to spend on their stupid waste programs.The reason Obama won’t budge in these debt ceiling talks is that he has no intention of stopping the endless waste of money he and the left spend. I strongly believe that Obama has his cronies and is financially setting up his favored Obama status for nothing but manipulated and bought votes. He could care less about the American people, especially our seniors. It is no surprise to me that he would threaten to hold back their social security payments. Remember, Obama and his Chicago Politics mind, must have crisis after crisis to blame conservatives and those running against him on. Obama, I have been taking you on for years on your UN American ways…….no I may run against you.We already know to Obama seniors are in the way since he practically wrote them out of his new Health care program. They will get longer lines, rationed care, forced end of life counseling, higher manipulated payments for less care. Are you shocked that Obama would lie to America about the money in our coffers and our ability to pay our critical bills?

Wake up America. There is plenty of Tax revenue to pay all our Entitlement Programs. The stubborn, unserving and manipulative attack strategy of the progressive left and Obama has stalled any ability so far to agree to a debt ceiling budget. Obama talks of a U.S. and worldwide catastrophe if congress and Obama don’t come to a debt ceiling agreement. However, with his doomsday warning, he nor his leftist progressives plan to cut back on anything of real substance that matters.
Negotiations failed on Monday simply because the House Republicans won’t allow any more tax increases on the American people. No tax increases is like another 9/11 to the left you realize. The Democrats are demanding $1 trillion in tax increases over 10 years. Drip, drip, drip and bleed, bleed, bleed….that is the Obama and progressive strategy for America, squeeze out every last cent they can from hard working and struggling Americans while redistributing wealth to their voter block. This is while we are still in a huge recession, jobs are going away, and the housing market is as bad as the Great Depression.Obama apparently has I forgot I said that disease.We are reminded by Stephen Hayes of www.weeklystandard.com that Obama said in an interview in Elkhart Indiana when asked about raising taxes in a deep recession…. Normally, you don’t raise taxes in a recession, which is why we haven’t and why we’ve instead cut taxes. So I guess what I’d say to Scott is – his economics are right. You don’t raise taxes in a recession. We haven’t raised taxes in a recession.Apparently, Obama has forgotten his statements about raising taxes, just like he apparently forgot his statements against going to war without congressional approval in 2007.

The beautiful thing for Obama and the left is along with stealing our national wealth, they are shredding our ability and momentum to be energy independent, have destroyed our 30 year leading edge with our NASA space program, that is now a pile of crushed earth rocks; have set the stage to destroy the best health care system in the world; betrayed Israel again and again and ignored our porous borders.Obama’s goal is to dumb us down, infuse national shame into our blood system, micro manage our health, environment and businesses, while moving us toward an international UN controlled system. Sovereignty be damned, rich heritage be damned, leadership and freedom by double damned. No…..you be damned Obama. This is the United States of America, not the United States of the UN and Obama.Our country MUST confront ALL spending in all categories of Government that has redundant spending programs and mimic state efforts already in place. We can save hundreds of billions more by cutting unnecessary and huge Government Departments. Why can’t we get rid of parts of the Government that have mainly turned into nothing but Government/career holding tanks. Are the careers of political hacks any more important then the American worker’s jobs drifting away? Greenspan: Dumb Americans Deserve Unemployment

The former boss of the Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, said the reason Gen-Xers are unemployed and suffering from a lower standard of living is because they are lazy, stupid, and unproductive. U.S. companies would be better off hiring immigrants.Baby boomers are being replaced by groups of young workers who have regrettably scored rather poorly in international educational match-ups over the last two decades, said Greenspan. The average income of U.S. households headed by 25-year-olds and younger has been declining relative to the average income of the baby boomer population. This is a reasonably good indication that the productivity of the younger part of our workforce is declining relative to the level of productivity achieved by the retiring baby boomers. This raises some major concerns about the productive skills of our future U.S. labor force.So-called Gen-Xers are not stupid and lazy. They are victims of globalism and outsourcing. Over the last two decades, jobs have been systematically stripped from the United States and exported to slave gulags in China and India. Gen Xers must compete with people who make two or three dollars a day.

NAFTA and globalist trade agreements are responsible for moving jobs out of the country, not the dismal test scores of Gen Xers.Public education in the United States is not about creating intelligent, innovative and productive citizens. It’s about creating obedient citizens who no longer have the knowledge and skills to improve their lives and are dependent on government and large transnational corporations.Public education prepares young people for world government. For decades, the U.S. government has had a AAA rating. On the scales used by the big three credit rating agencies, that is the highest credit rating that a government can get. Moody’s scale actually uses lettering that is a little different from the other two big agencies (Aaa instead of AAA), but you get the point. Right now, the U.S. government is closer than ever to losing its AAA rating. The threat of a rating downgrade is going to continue to grow regardless of how the political theater that we are watching unfold in Washington D.C. plays out. In fact, we are rapidly approaching the point when this debt will no longer be serviceable. If the credit rating of the U.S. government is not slashed right now, it will be soon enough. But whenever the United States does lose its AAA rating, we could potentially see financial hell unleashed because it will also mean that there will almost certainly be a wave of credit rating downgrades from coast to coast.As I have written about previously, government debt becomes more painfulthe higher that interest rates go. When the big credit agencies downgrade the credit rating of a government, that is a signal to investors that they should ask for higher interest rates on debt issued by that government.This does not always play out in practice (just look at Japan), but nations such as Greece, Portugal and Ireland sure are going through financial hell right now as they deal with reduced credit ratings and soaring interest rates.

Right now, the U.S. government is able to borrow gigantic quantities of money at ridiculously low interest rates. This is the primary reason why the debt disaster predicted by so many in the past has not arrived yet.If the credit rating of the U.S. government is downgraded, it could finally get investors all over the world to realize that the game is over and that they should be demanding much higher returns on debt issued by the U.S. government. The truth, as U.S. Representative Ron Paul put it recently, is that the U.S. government is already insolvent and at some point we are all going to have to face reality….Ultimately, the fundamentals show this country is bankrupt.So whether or not it happens right now, the truth is that at some point the credit rating of the U.S. government is going to go down and interest rates are going to go up.Unfortunately, it appears that this might happen sooner rather than later.Earlier this week, Moody’s Investors Service publicly announced that it would be reviewing our Aaa bond rating for a possible downgrade.On Thursday, S&P actually went so far as to announce that there is a 50 percent chance that it will downgrade the credit rating of the U.S. government within the next three months.

S&P has been warning of trouble for some time now. Back on April 18th, Standard & Poor’s altered its outlook on U.S. government debt from stable to negative and warned that a downgrade was likely at some point soon if nothing changed.If the credit rating of the U.S. government gets slashed and if that results in higher interest costs on the national debt, that is going to make it much harder to balance the budget.The U.S. government will take in somewhere around 2.2 or 2.3 trillion dollars this year. It will spend somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 or 3.6 trillion dollars this year.Included in that spending is about 400 billion dollars that goes for interest onthe national debt.As I explained in a previous article, if our interest costs double or triple it is going to make it basically impossible to balance the budget under our current system.If interest rates on U.S. government debt were to rise to moderate levels, we could soon be easily paying a trillion dollars a year just in interest on the national debt.If interest rates on U.S. government debt were to rise to the levels that Greece, Portugal and Ireland are now facing, it would be beyond catastrophic.But a reduced credit rating and higher interest rates would not just hurt the finances of the U.S. government.Any financial institution that is linked to the U.S. government in any way would also probably be downgraded.This fact was noted in the announcement put out by Moody’s this week….In conjunction with this action, Moody’s has placed on review for possible downgrade the Aaa ratings of financial institutions directly linked to the government: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Federal Home Loan Banks, and the Federal Farm Credit Banks.We have also placed on review for possible downgrade securities either guaranteed by, backed by collateral securities issued by, or otherwise directly linked to the government or the affected financial institutions.

Just think of the financial carnage that would cause.Also, check out what one Bloomberg article had to say about the potential cascading effects of a credit rating downgrade for the U.S. government….At least 7,000 top-rated municipal credits would have their ratings cut if the U.S. government loses its Aaa grade, Moody’s Investors Service said.An automatic downgrade affecting $130 billion in municipal debt directly linked to the U.S. would occur if the federal level is reduced, Moody’s said yesterday in a report. Additionally, top-rated securities with no direct links to the national government will be reviewed for similar action.But the nightmare would not end there. The truth is that the credit ratings of large numbers of state and local governments from coast to coast would likely be reviewed and downgraded as well. Right now, many state and local governments are scratching and clawing in a desperate attempt to survive financially, and a significant rise in interest costs would be enough to wipe many of them out.The ripple effects of a U.S. government credit downgrade would be endless.A lot of people argue that if the federal government ran a balanced budget from now on none of this would matter.
Unfortunately, that is not true.At this point, a very high percentage of U.S. government debt is short-term debt. That means that gigantic amounts of debt must be rolled over each year in addition to any new debt that we take on. So even if interest rates rise significantly on just the existing debt that we have it is going to be a total nightmare.And make no mistake, whether it happens now or later a collapse of U.S. government finances is coming.David Murrin, the chief investment officer at Emergent Asset Management,recently told CNBC the following….It’s inevitable that the U.S. will default—it’s essentially an empire which is overextended and in decline—and that its financial system will go with it.Right now it is being projected that the U.S. national debt will hit 344% of GDPby the year 2050 if we continue on our current course. We are on a runaway train that is heading straight for a brick wall.

Europe is also a complete financial wreck. The sovereign debt crisis over in the EU continues to grow worse by the day and there is no end in sight.If the U.S. collapses, Europe is not strong enough to save it. If Europe collapses, the U.S. is not strong enough to save it.We really are entering an unprecedented time in world history. We are on the verge of the first truly global financial disaster.It is going to be interesting to see which major currency crashes and burns first. Some think that it will be the euro. Others think that it will be the dollar.In any event, the reality is that the current global financial system is not sustainable. The folks that are in charge can try to keep things together for as long as possible, but at some point the dominoes are going to start to fall and the house of cards is going to crash.We have entered a time when there is going to be financial crisis after financial crisis. Even if the EU and the U.S. government can somehow fix things for the moment, more problems are going to be just around the corner.The world has become incredibly unstable and the entire globe is going to be shaken. Most people cannot even conceive of the kind of financial hell that is coming our way as a nation.Yes, it can be a bit sad to think about what is happening, but it is much better to be armed with the truth than to be totally clueless and totally unprepared.

Belief in Global Warming at New Low; Gore Launches Re-Education Project Activist Post July 13, 2011

On Monday, UPI announced the findings of a recent Harris poll that revealed a record low amount of people believe the global warming theory. Only 44% of the 2163 people polled say they believe that CO2 is warming the earth:Only 44 percent say they believe the theory that carbon dioxide emissions are warming the Earth, down from 51 percent in 2009 and 71 percent in 2007, but most movement has been into the not sure column.This poll comes just a week after climate scientists admitted that the climate actually cooled over the last decade, which they blamed on sulfur pollution from China’s coal-burning power plants. This led some to suggest that sulfur emissions could be increased to geoengineer the climate to cool it down further.
Coincidentally, today, Al Gore launched his new attempt to re-educate the masses with the Climate Reality Project, which he calls a global campaign to broadcast the reality of the climate crisis. Gore claims that oil and coal companies are deceiving the public and have unlimited resources to sow doubt, but that he has reality on his side.However, it seems his data is a bit dated. Given the new revelations about coal-burning plants actually cooling the planet, you’d think he’d be now supporting them. Furthermore, it has long been known that BP and other oil companies were founding members of the Cap-and-Trade lobby in support of carbon taxes.

His new organization invites people to reject the mistruths they hear every day and discover the truth about climate change for themselves. Notice he doesn’t say seek the truth, but rather discover it — from him.It’d be unfair to completely pick apart his exact words because this organization seems like it was put together in about five minutes, complete with typos in his announcement and a shabby website with one lonly blog post.Yet, the website makes a startling claim, that they know how to save us from global warming. The final sentence of the About Us section reads The climate crisis is real and we know how to solve it.Gore doesn’t give any details as to how he’ll solve the climate crisis. But if the game plan is still the same one he developed with Ken Lay from Enron, then it’ll likely include giving more money to the banking overlords, further manipulating the biosphere, deliberate reduction in the population, and perhaps even starting a nuclear war.In the video below, put together specifically to launch this project, Gore tells the viewer that the climate crisis is not your fault, but we must act together to fix it. A point he reinforces on their website, Climate change is not your fault for the car you drive, the lights you turn on, or the food you eat. The climate crisis is our problem. Exploiting the 9/11 Tenth Anniversary

As the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approaches, the Islamists and their supporters are busy preparing a disinformation campaign to whitewash Sharia law and Islamic ideology under the banner of an operation they call Prepare New York. The intent is to use a front of interfaith alliances with progressive groups to marginalize those who are trying to expose the truth about the Islamist agenda and to exploit the 9/11 anniversary for propaganda purposes.Prepare New York is following the blueprint laid out by the Muslim Brotherhood in its 1982 manifesto entitled Toward a Worldwide Strategy for Islamic Policy, a 12-point strategy to establish an Islamic Power on the earth. To do this, the Muslim Brotherhood set out to channel thought, education and action to influence centers of power both local and worldwide to the service of Islam, and to work within various influential institutions and use them in the service of Islam.In a document entitled the Explanatory Memorandum On the General Strategic Goal for the Group In North America, written in 1987 and published in 1991, authored by the Muslim Brotherhood operative Mohamed Akram, the work of the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates in America was described as a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.

The method for eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within would include developing a mastery of the art of coalitions, the art of absorption and the principles of cooperation.One of the first steps for Islamists upon arriving in a non-Muslim country to live is to declare the common bonds between Islam and the more prevalent religions in the host country through bridge-building and interfaith sessions. As they gain more of a foothold, the Islamists become more vocal about the host country’s need to accommodate the special demands of Islamic law, which they couch in human rights terms of free expression of religion, anti-racism and anti-discrimination. They find willing partners among progressive religious groups and opinion leaders to help carry this phony message of tolerance and anti-bigotry.
Prepare New York.Prepare New York is a leading example. It describes itself as a coalition of New York based interfaith organizations who have joined together to help create a city-wide climate that promotes healing and reconciliation in anticipation of the tenth anniversary of 9/11.Their website mentions such Steering Committee Partners as the Interfaith Center of New York, Intersections International, Odyssey Networks, and the Tanenbaum Center.Prepare New York was formed, its website says, in part as a response to the national and international headlines surrounding last summer’s proposed Muslim Community Center in lower Manhattan. The purpose of the coalition is to shift the discussion from one of fear and mistrust targeting any belief or group to one that celebrates New York’s extraordinary diversity of religious freedom and expression.

With such lofty goals and with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and an array of prominent progressive Christian and Jewish groups supporting the mission of Prepare New York, how can anyone criticize it? It all sounds so warm and fuzzy until you look behind the facade and examine common threads amongst at least some of the coalition partners and you discover how they are really all about preparing to channel thought, education and action and to work within various influential institutions and use them in the service of Islam.Let’s start with the fact that one of Prepare New York‘s Action Partners is the unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorist financing case, the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Council for American Islamic Relations.Then there are the connections of various Steering Committee Partners of Prepare New York to the Cordoba Initiative, or the Ground Zero Mosque, and to its founder, Imam Feisal Rauf . Rauf was the imam behind the Ground Zero Mosque project and a co-founder of the American Society for Muslim Advancement , an organization receiving funding from a number of leftist organizations and from foreign nations that are members of the Organization of Islamic Conference and whose objective is to promote a positive image of Islam to the American public.Rauf, who withdrew from direct involvement with the Ground Zero Mosque after a number of his controversial statements came to light, has praised Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, a prominent Muslim scholar and spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood who supports the killing of Jews, the death penalty for apostasy and homosexuality, and the right under Sharia law for Muslim husbands to beat their wives, as a very, very well known Islamic jurist, highly regarded all over the Muslim world.Rauf’s book, What’s Right with Islam Is What’s Right with America, was originally published in 2004 in Malaysia, under a different title: A Call to Prayer from the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America Post-9/11. What’s Right with Islam was an edition of the book published for an American audience and was produced after the original, with Feisal’s cooperation, by the unindicted co-conspirator and Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Islamic Society of North America.

Intersections International, one of Prepare New York’s steering committee partners, lists Rauf as one of its partners. Intersections International receives funding from Odyssey Networks, another steering committee member, which is also a direct funder of Prepare New York.Odyssey Networks includes as one of its members the American Society for Muslim Advancement and lists as one of its personalities none other than Feisal Rauf. Odyssey Networks features on its site a video in which Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf shares his insights on immigrant rights in the USA in the context of Islam and other religions.It is listed as one of the Cordoba Initiative’s supporting partners. Odyssey Networks’ blog also published scathing criticisms of Congressman Peter King’s congressional hearings into the radicalization of American Muslims.The Interfaith Center of New York, another Prepare New York Steering Committee member which boasts the word interfaith in its title, lists Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf as one of its vice chairs and a donor. It too is listed as a supporting partner of the Cordoba Initiative.One of the key advisory committee partners of the Prepare New York coalition is the Abraham Path Initiative. Contributors to the Abraham Path Initiative include the Saudi Arabian Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation. On the board of directors of the Abraham Initiative is Amir Mohammed Mahallati, former UN ambassador from Iran who is said to have been one of the early moving forces behind the idea of another downtown mosque in New York. Mahallati also happened to have served on the board of directors of the Interfaith Center of New York where, as already noted, Rauf is one of the vice chairs.The United Nations’ Alliance of Civilizations, which had its roots in the Iranian-driven Dialogue Among Civilizations,conceived by former Iranian President Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, is a partner in the Abraham Path Initiative. It is also a funder of Intersections International, one of the Prepare New York steering committee partners with ties to Imam Rauf’s Cordoba Initiative. And the UN Alliance of Civilizations has partnered with the Cordoba Initiative on a conference organized by Imam Rauf’s American Society for Muslim Advancement .

So far, we have only looked at the common thread amongst many of the key players behind the Prepare New York initiative being planned around the tenth anniversary of 9/11. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Recall that part of the Muslim Brotherhood ’s grand strategy, in its own words, is to channel thought, education and action and to work within various influential institutions and use them in the service of Islam.This would include working with progressive organizations to the extent they serve the Islamists’ purposes, such as George Soros Open Society Foundation and One Nation, both of which are helping to fund Prepare New York.One Nation is not only helping to fund Prepare New York. It is putting out a totally whitewashed version of Islamic law on its website regarding such core issues as the treatment of women and religious tolerance.The One Nation website falsely claims that the Islamic faith has historically upheld beliefs that respect women and their role in society

When Islam first developed on the Arabian Peninsula 14 centuries ago, women and girls faced oppression in many forms. Women were denied basic human rights… With the introduction of Islam, women in the region gained many rights.As usual, the propagandists who try to make Sharia law look benign rarely if ever deal with what Sharia law actually says, as embodied in the Koran and the recorded sayings and deeds of Mohammed (the Sunna, consisting of the Hadith and the Sira) on which Sharia law is based. Give strength to the believers. I will send terror into the Kafirs’ [unbelievers] hearts, cut off their heads and even the tips of their fingers.Koran 9:29 says: Make war on those who have received the Scriptures [Jews and Christians] but do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day.Koran 33:60 says: They [Kafirs] will be cursed, and wherever they are found, they will be seized and murdered.According to Sahih Muslim, Book 1, number 31001, Mohammed said: I have been ordered to wage war against mankind until they accept that there is no god but Allah and they believe I am His prophet and accept all revelations spoken through me.

From Bukhari 84:57, which like the Koran is part of Sharia law because it reflects the sayings and deeds of Mohammed: [In the words of] Allah’s Apostle, Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.Again, these are not simply ancient texts that should be taken no more literally than the Old Testament ’s requirement that Jews stone disobedient sons to death, an example cited by the Center for American Progress (which, like One Nation, is spinning for the Islamists). There aren’t any mainstream Jewish scholars who are advocating death to disobedient Jewish sons today. However, the eminent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has stated his understanding of Islamic law that an apostate is a traitor to his religion and his people and thus deserves killing.Harvard University’s Muslim chaplain agreed with Al-Qaradawi. He advised students asking about the punishment for apostasy in Islam that the preponderant position in all of the 4 sunni madhahib (and apparently others of the remaining eight according to one contemporary alim) is that the verdict is capital punishment. Despite the baseless assurance that the device is safe, Abbott told Birge she did not want her daughter’s naked body revealed by the scanner.She attempted to take cell phone video of the incident but was prevented from doing so.In April, the TSA defended its serial molestation procedures after a video surfaced showing agents fondling a six year old girl at the New Orleans airport.The TSA has admitted that fondling children is government policy.Some folks are asking if the proper procedures were followed. Ireland downgraded to junk in spiralling euro-crisis

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - US-based credit rating agency Moody's on Tuesday (11 July) downgraded Ireland's debt to junk status, amid growing market concerns about the stability of the eurozone as the debt crisis reaches Italy and Spain.Citing the growing possibility that Ireland may need a second bailout at the end of 2013 and the increased likelihood that this bailout will require private sector participation, Moody's downgraded the country's rating by one notch to Ba1 status - meaning that its bonds are now considered non-investment grade and pensions funds, for instance, are no longer allowed to purchase them.Moody's made the same move last week when it downgraded Portugal's rating by three notches to Ba2 status. Greece's rating is considerably lower - Caa1 which stands for substantial risk, just three steps before what a rating agency considers default and with no perspective for investors to recover their money.With EU finance ministers insisting - following pressure by Germany, the Netherlands and Finland - on having private creditors involved in a second Greek bailout, Moody's warns that the outlook remains negative and that similar pressure will be felt on each of the countries next in line for a second refinancing.Although Ireland's Ba1 rating indicates a much lower risk of restructuring than Greece's Caa1 rating, the increased possibility of private sector participation has the effect of further discouraging future private sector lending and increases the likelihood that Ireland will be unable to regain market access on sustainable terms in the near future,it said.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - With the political credibility of the EU in tatters over its handling of the eurozone crisis, monetary affairs commissioner Olli Rehn has appealed to MEPs and governments' responsibility for Europe as they continue to haggle over laws designed to prevent such a crisis happening again.The so-called six pack of legislation will tighten economic governance in the EU but is currently stuck in the legislative pipeline as member states and MEPs battle it out over the automaticity of sanctions for countries that exceed budget deficit and debt limits.
A hoped-for June deadline for agreement has already been missed. The delay in reaching a deal as well as fears that the teeth will be removed from the proposal adds to the growing perception that the EU is unable or unwilling to remedy its problems.There should be a political agreement on it as soon as soon as possible in order to reinforce confidence in the capacity to act of the European Union and to overcome the current sovereign debt crisis, said EU monetary affairs commissioner Olli Rehn, after a meeting of EU finance ministers on Tuesday (12 July).It is important to the medium and short-term fiscal prudence but it is important for the perceptions of today already in the short-term.He called on the sense of responsibility for Europe among MEPs and member states to reach an agreement and said he was ready to offer some of [his] summer holiday if needed.While the automaticity of sanctions is the main sticking point, the parliament itself is divided over the nature of the measures. The socialists want them to contain growth-boosting elements while centre-right and liberal MEPs simply want to concentrate on cutting deficits.I would virtually discount an agreement in July although there have been many twists and turns in the process, one parliament official told this website.

However, maybe because it's just the last centimetre, it's proving harder work than one might think, said Polish finance minister Jacek Rostowski.The rules are meant to increase Brussels' oversight of public finances in member states, after the parlous state of Greece's finances was revealed in 2010, following years of unnoticed build-up.The commission is keen to see the rules in place with member states already grumbling about fiscal targets set by Brussels under the European semester, a new system of centralised oversight on national economic planning.I want to underline that today we can only encourage the member states to do so (meet their fiscal targets), but tomorrow, provided that the package of economic governance is adopted, we can also enforce our messages, said Rehn.But still there are doubts about whether the beefed up rules will be enough.Speaking to MEPs earlier this month, Rostowski said: We need to develop support programmes and reform programmes of the kind that the [International Monetary Fund] does on a regular basis.Without more comprehensive measures, I don't think the eurozone will be the kind of strong structure that we all need it to be, he said, according to Dow Jones.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The EU's internal market will suffer if companies do not put more women on their boards, the EU's gender equality commissioner Viviane Reding said Tuesday (11 July).Reding made the claim while standing alongside Chantal Gaemperle, a board member at French luxury label LVMH, who had just signed an EU-sponsored pledge to increase the number of women in the company.The commissioner said that come March next year she will look to see whether companies have made a clear, precise and measurable evolution towards greater gender balance within their walls.If yes, there will be no need for European legislation. If no, we will have a problem with the internal market, said the commissioner explaining that major companies who work across the EU will be confronted with different national laws on women quotas.Reding's thinking is that if there is a public procurement tender in Spain, for example, Spanish companies who already have to oblige by national quota laws will have an immediate advantage over a German company, which does not.France, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy all have national rules concerning the representation of women in business.

The commissioner, who wants to boost female boardroom positions to 30 percent by 2015 and to 40 percent by 2020, said she is completely supported by internal market commissioner Michel Barnier.Currently women make up 10 percent of directors and 3 percent of chief executive officers in the EU's largest companies, with the number of women on corporate boards increasing by around half a percentage point per year.
Although Reding has been increasingly vocal about her campaign, to date only seven companies have signed up to the public pledge, up and running since March.And while LVMH is the largest company to have done so, the move represents something of a hollow victory for Reding as a French law, in place since early 2011, requires that the company's board be made up of 40 percent women by 2017.Reding, in her third term as EU commissioner, has experience with these types of uphill battles. She took on the mobile phone companies in her previous commission life using similar tactics. When mobile phone companies ignored her, she regulated to bring prices down.She is supported by the EU parliament, which earlier this month said Brussels should make such quotas mandatory. IDF Attacks Terror Targets in Gaza

The IDF retaliated overnight Wednesday to the latest firing of Kassam rockets from the Gaza region and attacked several terror targets in the Gaza Strip.The IDF Spokesperson confirmed the attacks and said that IAF aircraft had hit two smuggling tunnels in southern Gaza and an additional terrorist tunnel northern Gaza. All three targets were directly hit, and all aircraft returned to their base safely.The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli citizens or soldiers, and will know to respond decisively to terrorist activity or firing of rockets from the Gaza Strip where and when it deems fit, said the Spokesperson’s statement. The Hamas terrorist organization bears responsibility for the attacks.Earlier on Wednesday, a rocket launched from Gaza hit a southern Israeli community. The IDF website said the community was located within the Eshkol Regional Council and was home to approximately 10,000 residents. There were no physical injuries or damage to property in the attack.Two Kassam rockets were also fired on Tuesday evening from Gaza, landing in the Sdot Negev Regional Council area. One rocket caused light damage to a house in a local kibbutz. The second rocket landed in an open area.

A short time later, a mortar shell fired by terrorists from the Gaza region landed and exploded in an open area near a kibbutz in the western Negev. There were no casualties or damage.The IAF responded to these attacks as well, attacking and directly hitting two weapon manufacturing sites in the Gaza region early Wednesday morning.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

America's new secretary of defense, Leon Panetta, has a reputation for candor. Panetta was characteristically outspoken about Iranian involvement in support of Shiite insurgents in Iraq. During his visit to Iraq and after missiles were fired from a Shiite neighborhood into the protected Green Zone of the city, Panetta blamed Iran for supporting the insurgents and warned:We cannot sit back and simply allow this to continue to happen, he said of Iran’s efforts to arm Iraqi insurgents. “This is not something we’re going to walk away from. It’s something we’re going to take on head on.We are very concerned about Iran and the weapons they are providing to extremists here in Iraq.We're seeing more of those weapons going in from Iran, and they've really hurt us.While these accusations have been made before by American military sources, this time the accusations came from the very top of the American security establishment.Iran was quick to deny any involvement and claimed that the accusations were baseless, intended to sow discord among the countries in the region and reflected an American need to cover up its failure.

However, the US Defense Department made sure to drive home to reporters that the US was not grasping at straws in blaming Iran. The US Defense Department reported a tour conducted by Army Major General Jeff Buchanan, who escorted journalists on a visit to Joint Task Force Troy, a professional team that knew how to identify the origin of explosives even if they were made to look like improvised homemade devices.
The verdict:And the forensic teams can categorically state that the weapons are from Iran. In one case, an IRAM built in Iran was turned over to the Quds Force – part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard – and then given to an Iraqi extremist in Kitab Hezbollah, a terrorist group that is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Quds Force.The report also quotes Army general Lloyd J Austin III who claims that the Iranians were motivated by a desire to show that they had driven the Americans from Iraq.What does the United States expect to get from going up front with the warnings about Iran? Perhaps the US is getting around to chastising Iran militarily, but public sentiment in the United States militates against it. Perhaps it means that the US will go after the Shiite militias in Iraq that are backed by Iran.Another theory is that the US wants to signal the Iraqi government not to get too cozy with Iran. Iraq has become Iran's third largest trading partner and has recently signed a trading agreement lifting tariffs with Tehran. It is not certain that Panetta's warnings will influence the Shiite leadership in Baghdad. At best they may want the US to balance Iran.One can speculate on a third theory that harks back to the days of Ronald Reagan. Reagan could not understand why the Soviet Union was allowed to pin down the United States by backing guerrilla movements, while the United States abstained from similar tactics. By this reasoning, if the Iranians are arming anti-American guerrillas, the United States could possibly play tit-for-tat.

According to the Arab publication Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, published in London, a senior Iranian officer claimed that his country reserved the right to attack bases of Iranian Kurdish rebels in Iraq and accused the Kurdistan regional government president Massoud Barzani of supporting the rebels by providing training bases:We will not allow the terrorists to settle on the Iraqi territory with the support of the United States and the Zionist regime for the purpose of attacking Iran. We shall move against these terrorists.Similarly, the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad expressed his dismay about the continued operation of a camp of the outlawed Iranian Mujahideen-e-Khalq.Although the organization was originally Marxist in orientation, it has drawn support from Conservative American politicians including Tom Ridge, who served as secretary of homeland security under president George W Bush; Andrew Card, who was chief of staff of the Bush White House' and Rudy Guliani, the former mayor of New York City.These politicians want the organization to be legitimized and removed from the list of terrorist organizations as Ridge stated:The terrorist organization that the United States should be worried about is Iran, not the MEK ... Hamas Rocket Slams into Israel

Rocket fire launched from Gaza hit a southern Israeli community on Wednesday. The IDF website said the community was located within the Eshkol Regional Council and was home to approximately 10,000 residents.Rockets were also launched at southern Israeli communities on Tuesday. No one was reported hurt and no damage was reported in either attack.As a response to rocket fire from Gaza on Tuesday, the Israeli Air Force targeted two weapon-manufacturing sites in the northern Gaza Strip. Direct hits were confirmed.According to the Israel Security Agency (ISA), the month of June, 2011, saw an overall decrease in number of terror attacks with 47 attacks compared to 72 in May and 101 in April. Attacks from Gaza in June, however, slightly increased from May. June saw five attacks and May seeing three.The IDF stated that it will not allow the southern communities of Israel to continue living under constant threat, and will continue to respond determinedly to any terror attempt against the citizens of Israel. Japan and South Korea at Risk from Typhoon Mo-an

Japan and South Korea could see damage from a typhoon that is gearing up in the Pacific this week. A tropical storm that has gained power and reached typhoon status to become Typhoon Ma-on could unleash flooding and destruction upon two countries already reeling from natural disaster.By the end of the week Ma-on could wreak havoc on the southern part of Korea and southwestern Japan, bringing the potential for high winds and heavy rains at the site of the already-battered tsunami and nuclear disaster site in Honshu, Japan and adding to flooding that has been slamming South Korea.According to Accuweather.com, the tropical storm turned typhoon is expected to strengthen and intensify during the weekend. It was classified as a full-fledged typhoon on Wednesday. Ma-on is expected to veer north, bringing heavy flooding and damaging winds to parts of Japan and South Korea.Japan and South Korea have already seen plenty of disaster this year and the Korean peninsula is currently dealing with devastating floods that have caused landslides and flooded farmland and more than 350 homes. Rainfall in the western South Korea region topped 15 inches over two days early this week. One area in southwestern South Korea saw 19 inches of rain late last week and the previous weekend saw a 24-hour period of rain that measured 13 inches on Jinju.

As of Monday, 12 people had already died from the most recent torrential rain in South Korea after being crushed by landslides. The end of June saw Typhoon Meari bring excessive rain that has contributed to the flooding that is still going on in the Korean peninsula. Another typhoon will only add to that misery.Japan's northeast has suffered this year already after the 9.0 Tohoku Earthquake in March that spawned a deadly tsunami and brought about nuclear crisis within the country. Damage from a typhoon will only stretch the resources of a country that is already struggling to recover.Ma-on could elevate to super typhoon status while in the open sea and it is expected to intensify while in the Philippine Sea as it continues its westerly path. It is expected to turn north or northwest which will bring it in direct line with southern Japan and southern Korea. Monsoon Season Arrives with a Bang in Las Vegas

FIRST PERSON | Summer in Las Vegas is not only warmer, it is usually wetter as well. July marks the beginning of monsoon season, and mother nature did not wait to put on a show once July arrived in the Las Vegas Valley. Rain arrived as soon as the calendar turned to the first day of flash flood season; now the city is hearing emergency warnings on the radio more often than Katy Perry.Many visitors to Las Vegas are not ready for the extreme weather conditions this time of year, but there are guidelines to follow, especially as July 7-10 features rain in the National Weather Service forecast for Las Vegas.Las Vegas is not as bad as it once was when it comes to flash flooding, but there are still bad areas to avoid. Some of the worst areas are the new swaths of homes that were not fully developed before the real estate crash in 2008. Areas in Southern Highlands and North Las Vegas now see flash flooding any time there is substantial rainfall.The flash flood potential rating posted on the National Weather Service site shows two areas at serious risk. Areas to the south and to the north are the two appear in red for the next couple of days. Red represents the highest potential for flash flooding.

These areas are still lacking flood channels and are the most likely candidates to experience flash flooding. The summer monsoon season can catch drivers off guard easily. A typical monsoon can drop up to 2 inches in less than 15 minutes, turning a low-lying area into a raging river in a matter of minutes.Another aspect of the summer monsoon season is the phenomenon known as the Haboob. A Haboob, Arabic for a strong wind or wind phenomenon, takes place when a monsoon breaks out on the desert floor and pelts the loose silt of the desert, raising a massive dust storm up to 3,000 feet high. Phoenix and other Arizona cities suffered their first Haboob of the season Wednesday. The dust cloud darkened the skies in seconds, enveloping the cities in dust and silt.Our Amazing Planet gives Phoenix the honor as the Haboob capital of the world. Although Phoenix has several Haboobs a year, the storm is also common in the Sahara Desert in Africa and in Iraq, among other dry, desolate places around the world.Las Vegas has small experience with Haboobs but the area is known more for flash floods. There are still some areas on the Las Vegas Strip prone to flooding. The garage behind the Imperial Palace is notorious for flooding when Las Vegas Boulevard experiences a lot of rainfall in a short time.The key to driving in Las Vegas this time of year is awareness of the surroundings. Do not cross any areas where water is running across the road. Rights Group Urges Congress To Scrap Privacy Busting Internet Bill Steve Watson Infowars.com July 13, 2011 Internet privacy

A prominent online rights group has urged US lawmakers to scrap a proposal that would see all internet providers required by federal law to store information on their customers.The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) appealed before a House Judiciary Committee hearing this week, asking that Congress recognize the fact that retaining identifying information would put at risk 99.9% of Internet users.The legislation in question is H.R. 1981, a bill to address concerns about children pornography. EPIC is concerned, however, over provisions within the bill that will require Internet Service Providers to store temporarily assigned IP addresses for future government use.EPIC President Marc Rotenberg pointed out that it is more prudent to seek data minimization rather than data retention, in the wake of increased risk of data breaches and identity theft. Rotenberg noted that enforced data retention would make ISPs more vulnerable to hackers, citing the LulzSec group, which recently claimed responsibility for temporarily shutting down a CIA website and other high-profile hacks.Minimizing stored user data reduces incentives for hackers to attack data storage systems by reducing the amount of data available to steal. Minimization also reduces the costs of data breaches, Rotenberg said in prepared testimony.Rotenberg suggested that the data could be used to bring criminal charges that were unrelated to child pornography, a concern that was shared by Michigan Rep. John Conyers.

Although this data retention requirement has been introduced as part of a bill focused on child sexual exploitation, there is no evidence to suggest that the majority of law enforcement requests for customer subscriber information relate to child protection cases. Rotenberg argued.Advocates for the legislation include the National Sheriffs’ Association, which has said it strongly supports mandatory data retention. The bill has also attracted endorsements from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as well as the FBI.It would give the government sweeping authority to mandate the collection and retention of personal information obtained by business from their customers, or generated by the business in the course of providing services, for subsequent examination without any reason to believe that information is relevant or necessary for a criminal investigation, Rotenberg further testified.The EPIC President also noted that the bill would create a new immunity that hasn’t previously existed under the Wiretap Act, allowing ISPs to escape liability if problems resulted.By extending blanket immunity and a good faith defense to these ISPs, Congress would foreclose the ability for consumers to seek damages under [the Electronic Communications Privacy Act] for violations of that law,Instead, ISPs would be free to share their retained IP address information with law enforcement at any time, even if the current legal exceptions, such as those for voluntary disclosure, are not met. Rotenberg said.EPIC wishes to see the relevant sections of the bill re-written by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who introduced the legislation in May.Smith told Rotenberg that he would take on board EPIC’s suggestions and look into them, but added that he would give the benefit of the doubt to saving the children.EPIC noted that the prospect for passage of H.R. 1981 was significantly diminished at the hearing after Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI) said he would oppose the measure.

Senator Jim DeMint has accused President Barack Obama and Timothy Geithner of deliberately fostering panic in order to push through an agreement that would allow the debt ceiling to be raised, accusing the White House of burning the clock in order to push a decision close to the deadline, echoing how Congress was threatened with martial law in America before the 2008 bailout vote.On Sunday Treasury Secretary Geithner painted a grim picture of the so-called economic recovery, telling NBC’s Meet the Press, it’s going to feel very hard, harder than anything they’ve experienced in their lifetime now, for a long time to come.Geithner also told Fox News that the US would be forced into default if an agreement on raising the debt ceiling was not reached.Accusing Geithner of playing chicken little by irresponsibly spreading fear of a catastrophe, DeMint said the administration was deliberately fanning the flames of panic in order to secure a deal on its own terms.

It’s not ideal but we don’t need to panic and rush into a deal and the President has actually been burning the clock with these secret negotiations pushing us against a deadline so he can create this panic, DeMint told NBC’s The Today Show.We need to keep calm and if the President would work with us on some reasonable cuts, we’ll work with him on giving him an increase on the debt limit. Now is not the time to panic and do something else that is going to make our economy worse and cost us most jobs, he added.Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke echoed Geithner’s warning today, telling Congress that if it fails to raise the debt ceiling by August 2, the economic fallout could be catastrophic,self defeating and dire.We are not going to default, we have enough tax revenue to pay our bills, said DeMint.It certainly will be disruptive if we continue going on the track we’re going on right now. We have enough asserts, Social Security, Medicare trust fund to pay those benefits if necessary.Geithner and Bernanke’s threats sound eerily similar to those made by former Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson before the 2008 bailout vote. In an effort to stampede lawmakers into voting for the bailout bill, Paulson threatened lawmakers with martial law in America if the legislation failed to pass.Senator James Inhofe later confirmed that Paulson told members of Congress the crisis would be far worse than the great depression if Congress didn’t authorize the bill to buy out toxic debt, a proposal which he abandoned the day after he got the money, added Inhofe, referring to how immediately after it was approved, Paulson announced that the bailout money would not be used to buy up toxic debt but would instead be injected directly into banks like Goldman Sachs, of which he was a former CEO.Senator DeMint has also stated his opposition to a draconian proposal by Republican Senator Mitch McConnell that would hand the Obama administration the authority to raise the debt ceiling by giving them power of the purse.Republicans weren’t elected last November to make it easier to spend and borrow and add to our debt, DeMint told CBS’ The Early Show Wednesday.The US Constitution clearly states that Congress has the exclusive authority to raise and spend money. Article I section 8 states, The Congress shall have Power….to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States, and to borrow Money on the credit of the United States.If this plan goes forward it represents yet another alarming advance in the Obama administration’s establishment of an executive dictatorship, which we have documented at length.
