Climate Change Used as Excuse For Population Control

The major target for the Club of Rome was a population that was improving quality of life, health and the pursuit of happiness. It argued this was achieved by unsustainable exploitation of resources and destruction of nature. As they explain; If the present growth trends in world population, industrialization, pollution, food production, and resource depletion continue unchanged, the limit to growth on this planet will be reached sometime within the next one hundred years.It’s 40 years on and the predicted end is nowhere in sight despite efforts to amplify, distort and falsify evidence. It is wrong like all other predictions made by members of the Club, especially the population predictions of Paul Ehrlich and John Holdren. In 1971, Ehrlich recommended reducing the US population from its then 205 million because it was unsustainable. Despite this, pursuit of Club goals is more active as members control national and international finances and economies, hold political offices, or work through many private agencies under the guise of saving the planet. It is not a conspiracy, but pursuit of a political philosophy that has failed everywhere and anywhere it was tried.
Gradually They Undermine Economies and Society
The doomsday philosophy believes everything is spiraling out of control and on such a scale that only government can deal with the problems. Obama’s administration, especially those who were members of the Club of Rome clearly pursue this belief. John Holdren, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology was an active member publishing with Ehrlich the frightening 1977 work Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment. The book proposed total government control.Perhaps those agencies, combined with UNEP and the United Nations population agencies, might eventually be developed into a Planetary Regime—sort of an international superagency for population, resources, and environment.The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries’ shares within their regional limits. Control of population size might remain the responsibility of each government, but the Regime would have some power to enforce the agreed limits.” (Link)
One writer summarizes the way such population control would occur as follows.
-Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
-The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
-Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
-People who contribute to social deterioration (i.e. undesirables) can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility—in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
Holdren and Ehrlich disavow these statements claiming they were part of a college textbook used to teach about energy policies. In his confirmation hearings Holdren told Senator David Vitter (R – LA) that he no longer considers it a role of government to determine an optimum population. So why is this a continuing issue?
First, Obama misled the US electorate into believing he was a moderate democrat and now his socialist agenda is fully exposed. Second, he appointed of people fully immersed in socialism and philosophies of the Club of Rome who will follow Obama’s lead and pursue what they denied or obscured at their appointments. Many were simply executive appointments that bypassed any vetting process. Third, the global strategy to use global warming and climate change as the basis for world government with total control continues unabated and essentially unreported.
Climate Change Remains The False Threat
Conference of the Parties (COP) 15 on climate change in Copenhagen was effectively sidelined by the leaked emails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU). Revelation of the degree of corruption and deception involved in creating the Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) did not stop the bureaucratic and political juggernaut. Now the whitewash of that corruption will give added impetus to the original agenda. Positions taken in Copenhagen will proceed with added urgency, amplified by the economic shifts engendered by Obama undermining the US economy by creating massive deficit and debt; the largest portion of which is held by the Chinese government. Consider and compare this statement from the Chinese leader in support of the delegation at Copenhagen with the statement of the Club of Rome.After more than thirty years of reform and upon opening its doors, China has achieved immense success. Yet, the country continually faces evolving conditions at home and abroad, such as decelerating growth rates, issues of increased energy consumption and high pollution ratios, environmental and resource constraints, international trade frictions, as well as deepening socioeconomic divides.These concerns underscore why Zhao Baige vice-minister of the National Population and Family Planning Commission (NPFPC) made a presentation in Copenhagen. She argued that China’s one-child policy was climate friendly because it reduced the number of people despoiling the world. Baige cited the Master’s thesis of Thomas Wire, a graduate student of the London School of Economics (LSE) that claimed $7 spent on birth control resulted in one tonne reduction of carbon. The Optimum Population Trust (OPT) sponsored his thesis and patrons of the Trust are a who’s who list of ardent and powerful anthropogenic global warming advocates, including Paul Ehrlich. Another patron, Jonathan Porritt, was delighted his February 2007 suggestion that China could offset charges they were not doing enough to fight climate change by claiming reductions achieved by their one-child policy.
The one-child policy is the ultimate in draconian government control. A fine of approximately $27,000 is levied if the second child is not aborted. A family can choose to pay the fine, but the child is not recognized by the State that withholds a permanent residency document which denies access to public services such as education and healthcare. The policy effects are devastating the population structure of China. Stories abound of infanticide or sex-selective ultrasound to abort females, as families want a male first born. A gross imbalance is developing in the male/ female ratio among other problems as the New England Journal of Medicine reports.Sir Crispin Trickell is another patron of the OPT who from the mid-1990s was Chairman of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). A summary of one presentation says, He (Trickell) describes how the Chinese government has been experimenting with new measurements of economic wealth in terms of well-being. He believes the international community would do well to look to China for inspiration in this field.Does this include the one-child policy? We have nothing to learn from China except what to avoid. Oh, by the way, Trickell is a long-term member of the Club of Rome. A politician ….one that would circumvent God.Shakespeare, Hamlet.

Qureia: Jerusalem Situation Becoming a Time Bomb

Top Palestinian Authority negotiator Ahmed Qureia told a gathering in Jerusalem this week that the dispute over the final status of the capital in talks between the PA and Israel is turning the city into a time bomb.Qureia made the statement at a panel that featured him with Kadima Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni, who contended that the status quo is not possible.Both also agreed that indirect talks were unnecessary after years of direct negotiations. The two were leaders of their respective negotiating teams during the summit that led to the Annapolis Joint Declaration in November 2007.Qureia and Livni met with reporters at the King David Hotel ahead of a conference organized by Hebrew University's Harry S. Truman Institute for the Advancement of Peace, entitled The Israeli-Palestinian Proximity Talks: Lessons from Past Negotiations.Supporting the two state solution is in Israel's interest, Livni told the gathering of academics, and not a gift to the president of the United States.U.S. President Barack Obama has been actively trying to pressure Israel into increased concessions to the PA in an attempt to woo Fatah leader and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to at least begin indirect negotiations, if nothing else.
Both Livni and Qureia agree that the window of opportunity for final status talks to succeed is rapidly closing. Iranian-backed terrorist organizations committed to Israel's destruction are gaining ground, especially in Gaza, they pointed out. A huge crowd of 10,000 Jews gathered at the old gates of the Temple Mount Monday night and declared their allegiance to the holy site, which rally organizers said is being separated from Jews by discriminatory practices by the police.The pledge of allegiance to a Jewish Temple Mount and a united Jerusalem was part of the monthly March around Old City Temple Gates, a colorful event featuring the recital of Psalms at various closed gates around the Temple Mount.The monthly march usually attracts 2,000-3,000 people, but organizers successfully brought out thousands more Monday night as Jews around the world marked the beginning of the Hebrew month of Av. The Ninth of Av is marked every year as the day when foreign invaders destroyed the First and Second Holy Temples.The marches feature music and dancing and are peaceful, but police have barred several of the monthly prayer rallies during the past year because of fears of Arab violence.National Union Knesset Member Uri Ariel told the crowd that deterioration in security and the increasing discrimination against Jews in Jerusalem prompted the unusually large turnout. EPA Goes Ape Over Power Plant Emissions

Not a day goes by without our being told that something is going to kill us. Much of what kills people is genetic; little time bombs in our DNA that determine the state of our health. Anyone who reads the daily obituaries knows that Americans are living longer than any previous generation. Most of the population is dying of nothing more sinister than old age.The diseases that kill Americans have been quantified and known for decades. At the top of the list is heart disease, followed by a variety of different kinds of cancers. Third in line are strokes. Chronic lower respiratory diseases such as asthma are next, but nothing more than accidents kill as many people.The remaining factors include diabetes, Alzheimer’s, pneumonia, nephritis (kidney diseases), and septicemia, a disease of the blood.What do Americans really die from? Genetic dispositions to illness. Accidents. Poor diets. And bad lifestyle choices that include smoking, drinking, and taking illegal drugs. With the exception of asthma that affects about seven percent of the population none of this has anything to do with air quality. Indeed, the causes of asthma remain somewhat shrouded in mystery even if the symptoms do not.
Environmental Protection Agency: Making Wild Claims
None of this empirical knowledge and data has the slightest effect, however, on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the American Lung Association that profits greatly from any claims about air quality. Both are inclined to making wild claims.
In early July, the EPA announced proposed cuts in pollution from power plants in 31 states and D.C.This is not about air quality. It is part of the long-term attack on all sources of power in America, but most particularly the coal-fired plants that provide just over fifty percent of all the electricity on which Americans depend for everything! Depriving Americans of electricity would trigger a tsunami of deaths in the form of heat stroke in the summer months or freezing in the cold of winter. That, however, is the actual objective of the EPA and the many environmental organizations that wage ceaseless propaganda campaigns and endless law suits whose sole purpose is to deprive Americans of this vital source of power.The EPA claims that infinitesimal particulates from power plant emissions, specifically sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) harms the health of people living downwind of power plants. They propose reducing such emissions by 71 percent over 2005 levels of SO2 and fifty-two percent of NOx.
This is in line with the crazed and fraudulent claim that carbon dioxide (CO2) is causing global warming and thus requires the huge tax on energy sources, the Cap-and-Trade Act making its way through Congress. The claims are the typical exaggerations of all proposed government regulations. The EPA claims that their latest action would yield more than $120 billion in annual health benefits in 2014, including avoiding an estimated 14,000 to 36,000 premature deaths, 23,000 nonfatal heart attacks, 21,000 cases of acute bronchitis, 240,000 aggravated asthma, and 1.9 million days when people miss school or work due to ozone-and-particle pollution-related symptoms.There’s a very impolite word to describe these kinds of statistics.
They are the same kind of statistics the Obama administration has been conjuring while it blew through a trillion dollar stimulus program with no real effect on the economy. These are the same kind of vacuous statistics behind the promise of new jobs, the takeover of healthcare, one-sixth of the nation’s economy, the takeover of the auto industry, et cetera! Everyone wants clean air. The effort to achieve it began over three decades ago and it has been a success at the same time the U.S. gross domestic product increased 156 percent, vehicle miles traveled increased 143 percent, energy consumption increased 45 percent, and the population increased 36 percent.Cracking down on coal-fired plants is a political act. It has no relation whatever to any need to reduce particulates for the general population.American Lung Association: Worst kind of exaggeration and fear-mongering When the American Lung Association talks of preventing tens of thousands of premature deaths each year it is engaged in the worst kind of exaggeration and fear-mongering.Because Americans are rightly concerned with issues involving jobs, mortgages, auto payments, and all the real threats to their well-being, the EPA knows it can sneak through draconian regulations that, in normal times, would be and should be stopped in their tracks.

Navy Issues Midnight Ultimatum to Libyan Ship

Israel has given the Gaza-bound Libyan boat a deadline of midnight to change course or face interception, the Pakistani News reported Tuesday afternoon.Israeli authorities have given us until midnight tonight to change course and head to the port of El-Arish [Egypt]; otherwise they are threatening to intercept the boat with their navy,said Mashallah Zwei, one of the organizers of the sailing aimed at challenging Israel’s sovereignty over the coast off of Hamas-controlled Gaza.The News identified Zwei as a member of the Qaddafi Foundation, an alleged charity. He said by satellite phone that the request would be studied before a response is given.The foundation said that the Israeli Navy is shadowing its vessel, named the Almathea, which will reach Gaza Wednesday morning if it continues on its present course and at current speed.Leaders on board the ship earlier had said they would head for Egypt if confronted by the Navy, which was trapped into a violent clash May 31 with terror activists aboard a ship sponsored by the Turkish-based IHH origination. Showdown on $100 Million 9/11 Mosque Project

A last-chance public hearing to block the proposed 13-story $100 million mosque planned near Ground Zero, the site of the 9/11 attack on New York Tuesday puts Mayor Bloomberg on the defense. He has rejected opponents’ demands that the backers of the plan be investigated for possible links with terrorists or terrorist groups.New York City officials already have approved the project, and the only hope by opponents to block its construction is to convince the Landmark Preservation Commission to prevent the demolition of the 152-year-old Cordova House warehouse in order to make way for a mammoth Muslim community center and house of worship.Opposition groups from a wide spectrum of the population—ranging from Jews to Sikhs—staged a large demonstration in early June against the planned mosque.The Park Place site is 600 feet from the area where Muslim suicide terrorists hijacked two planes and aimed them at the two towering Twin Towers in the early morning, when the planes’ fuel tanks were full.The resulting explosion and intense fire melted the metal structures, toppling the towers and killing nearly 3,500 people, including police officers and firefighters who arrived to control the blaze and cordon off the area. One of the engines of the hijacked planes crashed into the Cordova House roof, causing severe damage.
Mayor Bloomberg has taken heat for not conducting a probe into the backers of the mosque project, while Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rick Lazio last week called on Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, his Democratic opponent, to conduct a probe. Lazio questioned the sympathies of the center’s backers, and said that the people have a right to know if this charity is using its resources in a legitimate, legal, and charitable way.Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch, has charged that the imam behind [the] proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea. Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its website. Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel's blockade of Hamas-run Gaza May 31. A Song and Prayer for Gilad Shalit: Take a Little Time to Pray

A 78-year-old Jerusalem Jewish resident and a Northern Ireland Christian have teamed up to produce an extraordinary video and song for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, who has been in captivity under the guard of Hamas and allied terrorists since June 25, 2006.British native and psychotherapist Elchanan Berkovitz told Israel National News he had produced a video from pictures of Shalit and wanted a song to go along with it, similar to an effort he made for missing Air Force navigator Ron Arad.I found someone in the Northern Ireland Friends for Israel group who said that a singer named Jim Clint had written a song for Gilad, Berkovitz says.After they made contact and collaborated on the project, Berkovitz posted the video and song on YouTube and showed it to Shalit’s parents on a visit to their protest tent near the office of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.It is one thing to read about people and see pictures on television, Berkovitz relates.To actually be with them and see and share their pain is a humbling experience. I told them the story about Jim Clint, a Christian supporter of Israel, who was moved to write the song about Gilad.Clint lived in Israel for nearly a decade and worked as a maintenance manager at a hostel in Tel Aviv. He is an educator for an Irish Christian community that celebrates the Jewish origins of their faith.Like everyone else I watched with horror the story of the Gaza flotilla and the ongoing conflict between Jews and Arabs, Clint explains. I have witnessed myself the aftermath of a suicide bombing in the Machaneh Yehuda market in Jerusalem in July 1997. I couldn’t help thinking that in all the waves of criticism which is engulfing Israel at the moment, no one was saying anything about a young Israeli in Gaza, deprived of every human right, and facing the most awful threats if his kidnappers don’t get their way.I wanted Gilad’s family to know that in a far away country like Northern Ireland there are people who have not forgotten Gilad and pray for his return to his family. Like millions of others around the world, I want to give the Shalit family encouragement and hope.

EU to get judicial oversight on human rights

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – EU laws will in a few years' time be subject to legal challenges in the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights, under an independent oversight mechanism made possible by the Lisbon Treaty, a representative of the pan-European body said in an interview.For the first time in history, the EU will be subject to an external independent judicial oversight, and will be scrutinised in the same way as any other of the 47 member countries when it comes to the respect of human rights,Torbjorn Froysnes, the Council of Europe's ambassador in Brussels told EUobserver on Friday (9 July).Last week, EU justice and human rights commissioner Viviane Reding officially kicked off negotiations aimed at making EU institutions subject to binding rulings issued by the Strasbourg-based court, which already has jurisdiction over all 27 member states plus another 20 non-EU countries, including regular human rights defaulters Russia and Turkey.This became possible once the Lisbon Treaty came into force, granting the EU a formal legal status, which allows it to adhere to the European Convention on Human Rights, an international treaty dating back to 1950 and defending rights such as freedom of thought, speech, assembly and religion. The convention is enforced by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, a body of the Council of Europe, as a last resort for citizens and states when all other national avenues for appeal have been exhausted.
Mr Froysnes said negotiations are expected to wrap up before the end of June 2011 and will be followed by a ratification process in all 47 member states plus the European Parliament, which may take several years.When the new agreement is ratified, the EU will be held responsible for its own actions. This doesn't mean that the Council of Europe will get involved in EU decision-making, but a court is a court and its rulings will have to be respected,he said.Jammed by a huge influx of cases, out of which some 90 to 95 percent is routinely dismissed for not meeting eligibility requirements, the Strasbourg court has recently simplified its procedure so as to speed up processing of valid cases, for which can take up to five years for the judges to issue a verdict. A backlog of 120,000 cases were waiting to be dealt with at the end of 2009.With the new procedures, we expect a 25 percent increase in judgements passed,Mr Froysnes said.The scope of the rulings - varying from cases brought by Chechen victims against the Russian state to the introduction of crucifixes in Italian schools - could open a Pandora's Box when it comes to EU legislation, particularly since countries, not just citizens, can formulate complaints. Georgia last year filed a case to the Strasbourg court against Russia for its 2008 military invasion, accusing Moscow of ethnic cleasing.In terms of penalties, just as with any of the 47 members of the convention, the EU could be subject to financial compensations to the damaged party and demanded to change the respective piece of legislation if found that it violates human rights.
The European Parliament recently welcomed the perspective of the EU joining the convention on human rights and recommended that it also join the Council of Europe and its various committees, which cover issues ranging from social rights to prevention of torture.The Council of Europe is a machinery for social reform. There are over 200 binding conventions dealing with all parts of society outside trade relations. But it will take time,Mr Froysnes said.Human rights are not limited to police and military actions, press freedom or discrimination issues, but also apply to the Internet.There is a convention on personal data protection which also covers the internet,the diplomat said. His institution is planning a big event on data protection in January 2011, celebrating 30 years since this convention was signed. The co-organisers are the European Commission, the bloc's data protection authorities, along with industry representatives such as Microsoft, he added.The US, while a member of the other internet-related convention on cybercrime, is so far not part of the data protection agreement. But Mr Froysnes hopes this may change soon, particularly with the Obama administration showing more interest in this dossier.
EU tells states to prepare for banks that fail stress tests

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - European finance ministers have defended stress tests currently being carried out on 91 of the region's banks, amid EU calls for governments to be ready with aid when the results are published on 23 July.With some analysts predicting that between 10-20 banks could require millions of euros in recapitalisations, EU economy commissioner Olli Rehn said on Monday evening (12 July) that national capitals must prepare for any possible pockets of vulnerability by getting their backstops in place.Adding to tensions, a number of market participants have raised a series of doubts over the thoroughness of the tests that are designed to assess banks' abilities to withstand future financial shocks such as a national debt restructuring.News, however, that China last week bought roughly €400 million in Spanish bonds will provide considerable cheer to EU finance ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday, with the return of Asian investors after a two-month pause seen as an important vote of confidence in the eurozone's economy.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of Monday's meetings, German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble denied the tests had been devised so that banks would easily sail through.First it was said that they were too tough, that they would lead all the banks towards bankruptcy. The next day it was said that they were too weak and that the exercises is useless,Mr Schaeuble told reporters.In general, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.Germany's state-owned regional Landesbanken have been identified as some of Europe's weakest, with a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers also showing a number of British banks and Spain's regional lenders as being considerably exposed to non-performing loans.
Time for the €440 billion emergency mechanism?
One question is where European governments would find the necessary money, if called upon, to carry out further expensive bank recapitalisations, with some in Brussels suggesting the eurozone's €440 bail-out fund - known as the European Financial Stability Fund (EFSF) - could be used.Originally intended to bolster the public finances of governments struggling to raise money on capital markets, supporters say the money could be indirectly channelled into banks. But other EU sources say such a move would be impossible, with late-in-the-day Slovak reluctance to sign up to the bail-out mechanism also raising a further question mark. The country's new government has said it wants its contribution to the scheme, roughly €4.4 billion in loan guarantees, to be reduced.With pressure growing on Bratislava to sign up, the stability fund's manager has said its failure to do so would not prevent the fund from raising money through debt issuances.The EFSF could begin financial operations if necessary, if required, almost immediately,said Klaus Regling.Separately on Monday, EU finance ministers gathered with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy to discuss reform on the EU's economic governance. In a statement after the third taskforce meeting, Mr Van Rompuy said ministers agreed that greater sanctions, including the potential suspension of EU farm and regional payments, were needed for states that repeatedly breached the bloc's budgetary rules. The scope of financial and non-financial sanctions will have to be widened, including in the community budget,said Mr Van Rompuy.

EU in disagreement over anti-fraud reform

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The independence of the EU's anti-fraud investigative body needs to be strengthened, along with its accountability and oversight measures, but member states and the EU parliament disagree on how to move the reforms forward, the commissioner responsible told MEPs on Monday (12 July).We have an obligation to ensure that EU taxpayers' money is properly protected and that we take all possible measures to tackle fraud, particularly during times of economic difficulty, Europe's anti-fraud commissioner, Algirdas Semeta, said during a hearing in the European Parliament's budgetary control committee.He presented a reflection paper on possible ways to reform the European anti-fraud office (Olaf), outlining where the European Parliament and member states are in disagreement and what solutions could be found to move forward. A legislative proposal to this end could be tabled by the end of this year, in view of having it approved by parliament in 2011, Mr Semeta said.Set up in 1999 in the aftermath of a corruption scandal that brought down the European Commission led by Jacques Santer, Olaf is mandated to tackle fraud and corruption affecting EU funds in member states, as well as within the bloc's institutions.Its investigations are administrative, but leads passed on to national authorities can be followed up in criminal proceedings. At the end of June for instance, in a case flagged up by Olaf in 2006, a Bulgarian court sentenced a local businessman to 12 years in jail for embezzling €7.5 million of EU farm subsidies. His wife was also sent behind bars for five years, while four other accomplices got 10 years each.
Another case co-ordinated by Olaf earlier this month saw Norwegian and Swedish border guards arrest a truck driver after he tried to illegally import 28 tonnes of Chinese garlic into the EU.But most Olaf leads do not get picked up by national authorities. German centre-right MEP Ingeborg Grassle, the rapporteur for Olaf reform, pointed out that only seven percent of Olaf's cases end up in court.It is unacceptable that so many cases end up in the paper basket. The council [of ministers] needs to deliver, we need to keep the pressure for better co-operation with national authorities, she said.Echoeing previous requests from MEPs, Mr Semeta said member states should be obliged to report on the follow-up of Olaf leads transmitted to them. Also, prosecutors and police in member states should co-operate with the EU anti-fraud unit already during the stage prior to the opening of investigations. In the past Olaf could not always easily identify the competent authorities of the member state concerned when conducting on-the-spot checks. Olaf should have an easy access to these authorities. This is especially of importance in cases when Olaf encounters resistance from the economic operator directly or indirectly concerned,the commission's reflection paper says.Another sticky issue is the role of the Supervisory Committee, a board of former MEPs, prosecutors and auditors overseeing the work of Olaf and having a say on the priorities and length of the investigations.We will have to seek together the best solutions regarding the dialogue between the institutions on the political governance of Olaf's investigative priorities, as well as the content of this dialogue. We will have also to see if other stakeholders - such as Europol and Eurojust - should be involved, Mr Semeta said.The parliament's and member states' views diverge even more strongly on the nomination procedure, functions and title of the Olaf chief.
So far called a director general,the top Olaf official could see his title changed to executive director if parliament agrees to the member states' proposal. The EU commission however suggested that despite the independent status of Olaf within the executive, the title has to reflect the fact that it has a hierarchical level comparable to a director general.EU decision-makers are also at odds over the length of the mandate of the Olaf chief: the commission proposes a non-renewable seven year term; the European Parliament would like a five-year term, renewable once and a greater say on the list of candidates put forward by the commission; member states, however, would favour a non-renewable term of five years.
Olaf currently has an interim director general, Nicholas Ilett, after its former chief Franz-Hermann Bruner passed away in January. Mr Bruner, a former German public prosecutor, had been at the head of Olaf since its inception.The EU commission will come up with a shortlist in September, with the parliament expected to exchange views with the candidates and issue a recommendation for who should fill the post. Mr Bruner's second term appointment was made in spite of the legislature favouring another candidate from Sweden.Marta Andreasen, a former EU commission chief accountant who was sacked in 2002 after she refused to sign off the accounts for being open to fraud, has made public her intention to run for the Olaf top post.
Currently an MEP affiliated with Britain's Independece Party (UKIP), Ms Andreasen told Accountancy Age on 15 April: If you don't understand an audit report, and people who are not accountants and auditors have a problem with that, then you will never find anything we have to investigate.
Commission gambit could end decade-long GMO impasse

In a potentially risky gamble to break an EU impasse over the cultivation of Genetically Modified Organisms which has lasted more than a decade, the European Commission will on Tuesday (13 July) propose a plan that both helps anti-GMO member states to ban them and lets those countries that favour the technology to move full-speed ahead with commercial planting.Until March this year when the new commission gave the green light to a GM potato variety produced by German chemical and agribusiness giant Basf, sparking vociferous controversy across the bloc, no new GM crops had been approved in the EU since some Monsanto maize in 1998.The EU is split almost down the middle on this most divisive of agricultural topics. No side is able to mount a majority in the Council of Ministers. This makes no one happy, turning anti-GMO countries into the target of Brussels - and US and WTO - ire, and frustrating the ability of pro-GMO countries to fully develop their agricultural sectors in the way their governments wish to.In a new twist, the commission is betting that if it extends the ability of countries to ban organisms on socio-economic grounds, and, in the longer run, to cultural and ethical grounds on top of the current contamination-only grounds, the anti-GMO states will soften their opposition, potentially a slew of new crop approvals at Brussels level, perhaps as soon as in the coming months.The gambit is possibly the first ever example of Brussels returning back to member states a power it had earlier taken upon itself.
Even a staunchly pro-GMO state such as Spain, which believes that all of the EU should be able to produce GM products, and the arch-federalist Belgium, which is agnostic on the GMO controversy but thinks the move sets a dangerous precedent of reversing EU integration, have yet to be won over to the idea.The biotech industry, while applauding the commission for trying to break the impasse with a creative idea and hopeful that it will open new markets for their products, says that the move is in the end anti-science and could make it easier to restrict GM farming even in states more open to the technology.Antonio Villarroel, secretary-general of Antama, a Spanish biotech association said: We have real fears that the new proposals will make it harder and harder for us to co-exist successfully with other types of farming.Meanwhile, environmental groups and farmers who oppose GMO technology are frightened that the process will carve new inroads for GM plants and animals and say that any agreement to more authorisations at EU level would be a Faustian pact.
Beyond their desire to see an EU-wide ban on GMO cultivation, they say that the new green light for a looser interpretation of the grounds for a national ban are legally worthless and wide open to court challenges. In effect, the anti-GMO states would be signing off on new GM crops elsewhere in Europe without legally armour-plating their own bans.In an unusual alliance, both anti-GMO Austria and the pro-GMO Netherlands back the commission's move, however.Looking at the commission's plan in more detail, the executive will on Tuesday publish new guidelines on what is termed co-existence of GM and non-GM agriculture - referring to the possible contamination of non-GM crops by their lab-tweaked cousins - replacing guidance that dates back to 2003.The EU move, which would extend these grounds for a ban to include socio-economic reasons, is technically-speaking non-legislative and so could be enacted immediately.Alongside this, the commission will publish legislative proposals to extend the grounds to cultural or ethical reasons. Catholic Poland for example believes that the use of GM seeds encroaches on the sphere of public morality.In return, the anti-GMO states would embrace a more positive stance regarding GMO authorisation at the stage of assessment health and environmental risks at the EU level.

No privacy rights within 100 miles of U.S. border

10 July 2010: It is no secret that I am pro-law enforcement – very pro-law enforcement, in fact. Some of my best friends are law enforcement officers who work in local, state and federal agencies. On my wedding day in 1991, I lost a friend who was a police officer in Houston, Texas when he pulled over a car and was subsequently shot during the course of a traffic stop. I also lost a friend and several acquaintances, all law enforcement officers, in the 2001 attack on America by Islamic terrorists. Their job is among the most dangerous, especially in today’s environment, so I am in favor of any tool that would keep them and our country safer.Within the last month, however, I personally found myself at odds with law enforcement while traveling by car close to the U.S. border with Canada. I was within 5 miles of our northern border in the state of New York, yet well inside the U.S. with no intention of crossing the border. In fact, I could not even see the border and was not in close proximity to any border crossing point. Nonetheless, I encountered what could be best described as a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.
Although I personally was not subjected to any searches and the questions asked of me were relatively non-invasive, at least one or two other motorists appeared to have hit a speed bump on the road called homeland security. They were pulled aside, and one of the federal officers appeared to be holding or looking at a cell phone or small camera. The license plates on both vehicles I observed being subjected to a secondary search were of U.S. origin.Due to schedule issues, I was unable to perform any on-site inquiries about the apparent mobile checkpoint, although I contacted a law enforcement source later that day who verified that it was a rolling checkpoint that was being conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol. What greatly disturbed me, however, was what I learned later about the activities taking place at the makeshift secondary inspection location. This is where the two motorists were pulled aside, and one agent appeared to be inspecting an electronic device from one of the vehicles.I was surprised to learn that federal agents, specifically those with the U.S. Border Patrol, have the right to inspect an individual’s cell phone (including call history, text messages and photographs), computers, cameras and even GPS units without needing reasonable cause or suspicion. Furthermore, that right extends up to 100 miles inland from our north and south borders.My source provided me with an overview of the criteria the agents were using to select vehicles for a secondary inspection, although for legitimate security reasons, I will not disclose that criteria. I will confirm, however, that the additional inspection was not due to the physical appearance or any factors related to race/ethnicity of the vehicle occupants that would suggest that they might be from outside the U.S. In fact, I was told that those manning the checkpoint were not sufficiently equipped to handle the detention of illegal aliens, especially if more than one or two happened to be discovered.Although I was assured that persons of interest, if located, would be detained appropriately,I am unconvinced that detention would extend to suspected illegal aliens whose names were not on any such list.My law enforcement source candidly expressed similar doubts during our conversation.
In summary, if you find yourself traveling on public roads within 100 miles of either of our land borders, some of the freedoms granted to you as an American by the U.S. Constitution do not appear to apply. Black Activists Condemn NAACP Resolution Against Tea Party Movement

Washington, DC – As the NAACP plans to use their group’s prestige to bash the tea party movement, members of the Project 21 black leadership network are urging delegates at the NAACP’s national convention not to turn the NAACP into a pawn for progressive political bosses. As a frequent speaker at tea party rallies around the country, I can assure the NAACP that the tea party movement’s concerns are about President Obama’s policies and not his race, said Project 21 fellow Deneen Borelli. I’m deeply concerned that the NAACP is being used as a political tool to do the dirty work of the progressive movement. Instead of criticizing tea parties, the NAACP would be better served denouncing the racist comments made by a member of the New Black Panther Party and their voter intimidation outside a Philadelphia polling place in the last presidential election.According to a report in the Kansas City Star, the NAACP, which is conducting its 101st annual convention in that city, will take up a resolution as early as Tuesday to urge all people of good will to repudiate the racism of Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.Kansas City NAACP chapter president Anita Russell said the tea party movement is really not about limited government. The resolution reportedly dwells on explicitly racist behavior that relies upon anecdotal posters opposing President Obama and allegations of the use of racial epithets by tea party participants.

These objectives are clearly about limited government and liberty. Undercover in Anaheim: Exposing HAMAS & al Qaeda Sympathizers in the U.S.

Investigation Background
There is a very active and extremely effective fifth column of Islamists at work in the U.S. They exist and conduct their activities under innocuous sounding names. They solicit membership, logistical assistance and financial backing in open venues provided by the freedoms afforded by the United States. They also appear to have very noble humanitarian goals to anyone who might be motivated into giving them a cursory inspection. Under this thin veneer of apocryphal legitimacy, however, lies a nefarious agenda that includes providing support to Islamic terrorists and exposes relationships with communist and anarchist groups active within the U.S.To better understand what is taking place in the U.S. today, consider that right before the outbreak of World War II German-linked groups were established that would actively promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany, distribute propaganda and ultimately influence public opinion through propaganda to favor the Nazi Party. Known as the German-American Bund, their ultimate objective was to deconstruct America’s democracy in favor of the Third Reich. Prior to the U.S. involvement in the war, the German-American Bund even held a major conference at Madison Square Garden in support of Hitler.Now imagine the Japanese and Germans both sending agents as both students and professors to our campuses in the wake of Pearl Harbor, promoting the idea that American racism was the cause of World War II and America’s fight against the Axis, not the attack on December 7th, 1941. Back then the nation was largely agrarian with fewer people attending college unlike today when Saudi and other Emirate money is influencing our colleges all over the U.S. to promote an Islamic or Pan-Arab nationalist agenda against western-style democracy.
Both scenarios provide similarities of what is taking place today. The difference, however, is that average Americans and most Americans in government at that time actually investigated and ultimately identified the Third Reich sponsored activities for what they were. When the war commenced, the Bund largely disappeared as a direct result of government investigation into the activities of enemy aliens, a capable media, and a public disdain for the supporters of Hitler.The current enemies of the U.S., Israel and our very freedoms appear to have recreated and refined the Bund playbook used by our former enemies. No one, except for those few who have the initiative, patriotic motivation and concern for our country and the nation of Israel are doing anything to expose the true agenda of these enemies of the state who are presently operating unmolested within our borders. Israel today is what England was to the U.S. at the start of World War II: a democratic aircraft carrier against encroaching fascism monopoly on the European Continent, only this time in the theater is in the Middle East.This investigative report exposes one of the most active pro-Palestinian, pro-Arab and anti-Israeli groups operating across the U.S. Al Awda, a/k/a The Palestine Right of Return Coalition, is the new Bund in America and is surely the most pernicious of all of these subversive Bund-like groups who are subverting our anti-terror efforts and propagating propaganda at levels previously unseen. Al Awda is it is a movement that makes war on Israel and our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting Arab and Muslim terrorism.In order to determine the true nature and extent of their activities, this investigator conducted an undercover investigation at the 8th Annual Al Awda International Conference that was held from 30 April to 1 May 2010 at the Hilton Hotel & Conference Center in Anaheim, California. By infiltrating the conference and using covert methods to secure video and other documentation, this investigative report reveals the agendas, tactics and affiliations of Al-Awda and their affiliates, individuals and supporters who are subverting our anti-terror efforts and propagating anti-Israel, anti-U.S., and even pro-communist propaganda.
Overview: Investigative Findings
Investigative findings identified some complex and deliberately convoluted relationships between Al Awda and other Arab and Islamic groups, including but not limited to al Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas. Although Al Awda claims to have about 15 chapters spread throughout the U.S., this investigation confirmed their affiliation with other Islamic organizations promoting the causes of jihad or totalitarian Arab nationalism. These affiliations and associations serve as a force multiplier for the agenda of Al Awda.The Council on American Islamic Relations, or CAIR, a known Hamas front that continues to have access to the highest offices and officials in Washington despite its many publicized associations with terrorists, is also affiliated with Al-Awda. Islamic civil rights groups like the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), a group less concerned with civil rights as their name would imply, was also found to have connections to Al-Awda. Arab and Islamic groups such as the Students for Justice in Palestine or Muslim Students Association are also affiliated with Al-Awda and found on over 150 college campuses in the US and Canada.Al-Awda’s associations do not stop with exclusively pro-Islamic or pro-Palestinian groups. On-site investigation further verified that Al-Awda is actively coordinating their efforts with communist and anarchist groups in the United States, each having a visual presence at this conference. Those groups include International ANSWER and the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). The ISM, created by the PLO to mimic western radical revolutionary ideals, is active within the U.S. putting a good face on America’s enemies overseas. This includes violations of the U.S. tax codes and civil rights violations against Jews in America and abroad in violation of U.S. laws.These organizations are based on deception and promoting endless war by defining themselves peace activists or human rights advocates. In truth, their actual goal is to perpetuate by deception the very war they claim they seek to end.
Furthermore, evidence obtained during the course of this investigation suggests clear violations of U.S. federal law were promoted at this conference. To date, little (if any) official investigation by government officials has been done, and these groups remain active and unencumbered by federal investigation and oversight.
Despite the politically subversive nature of these groups, previous and our current administration have not only been conspicuously absent in directing investigative powers to such events, but actually participated in them. This fact was promoted by Al-Awda as documented during the course of this investigation; some had referenced the tacit support of their group and ideology by the current administration, citing AG Holder’s appearance at the ADC conference organized and co-sponsored by Jess GHANNAM. GHANNAM is co-founder of multiple front groups besides Al Awda, frequently with same membership as Al-Awda such as the Palestinian Academic Campaign to Boycott Israel, the ADC and the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) that trains radical agents to send to Middle East.Specifically, US Attorney General Eric Holder, the chief US law enforcement officer of the U.S., was the keynote speaker at a recent conference of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), an event that was sponsored by Al-Awda co-sponsor Jess GHANNAM. The theme of the event was 30 years of activism that included promoting a nationwide boycott against American-Jewish and Israeli businesses in defiance of anti-boycott laws established by Congress. A high level official from the Commerce department also spoke at the event, even though Commerce is responsible for enforcing the anti-boycott laws. The same conference featured as another speaker by video conference, Azmi BISHARA, a wanted Hezbollah spy, even though Hezbollah is on the State Department list of designated terrorist organizations and responsible for the murder of 241 U.S. marines in Beirut in 1983.In addition to the influence wielded within this administration’s Justice Department, this investigation revealed that Al-Awda has developed an effective influence inside Obama’s U.S. State Department. According to information developed during the course of this investigation, Al-Awda lobbied successfully with the Obama State Department, under the direction of Hillary Clinton, to allow approximately 2,000 Palestinian refugees currently living in Iraq to live permanently in the United States. According to Al-Awda spokespersons, the Iraqi nationals will be permitted to reside in the U.S. until they can be relocated to their new home in the Middle East once Israel is eliminated. Investigation revealed that these Palestinians were, in fact, close allies of Saddam Hussein. Their refugee status is a direct result of their cooperation and collusion with Saddam Hussein during the liberation of Iraq. Because of that collusion with Saddam Hussein and his military, the Iraqis want them removed from their country.
Rather than moving them to the West Bank or Gaza, they will instead be brought to the U.S. in order to facilitate the goals and objectives of their sponsor Al Awda. They will be used to further increase Al Awda’s presence at future conferences, where they will undoubtedly promote attacks on Israel and even the United States for its presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, courtesy of the U.S. taxpayer.Investigation also revealed circuitous linkage between Al Awda, their affiliates, and their involvement with the so-called Gaza Flotilla, the ships assisting Hamas under the pretext of carrying humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza.As a direct result of the disinformation campaign by the corporate media, formed in part by this administration’s own statements regarding the ships, Americans have not been told that some operatives aboard the ship who attacked Israeli IDF soldiers are members of al Qaeda and Hamas, as verified by the Northeast Intelligence Network with an Israeli intelligence official and a U.S. intelligence officer stationed in the Middle East. Under the pretext of providing humanitarian aid, the ships Furthermore, the majority of the Gaza Flotilla’s activities, including but not limited to logistics and funding, actually originated inside the United States.
Overview: Methods & Tactics of Deception
Unsurprisingly, the most basic evidence obtained during this undercover assignment in Anaheim verified the group’s familiar tactics of characterizing Palestinians as victims of Israeli aggression. They refer to the Jews in the nation of Israel as Zionists in an attempt to avoid the appearance of anti-Semitism, and even present some Jews at their conference as supporters of their agenda. Under their innocuous sounding public agenda, they also make effective use high ranking government officials as a means of legitimization.One deceptive method these groups share in the promotion of war is with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement against Israel, of which Al Awda plays a major role. History illustrates that divestments and boycotts of Jews and Jewish businesses were one of the first tactics of persecution practiced by the Nazis in 1933 to destroy the Jews. Based on the undercover findings from the most recent conference, however, evidence found that the Al-Awda deception is much more organized, strategically planned and carefully executed.A critical aspect of this deception is to trick people – especially those in the U.S. – that Israel is an apartheid state, often making the erroneous comparison to South Africa in the 1980’s. However, Israel is the only state in the Middle East that is not an apartheid state. What people are not told is that Arab citizens living in Israel can and do serve as judges, are given preferences in universities and enjoy the same rights as the Jewish citizens of Israel. Although Arabs are not granted automatic citizenship, they may apply for citizenship just as in any other country. Despite such rights and privileges, Al Awda’s primary goal is the total dismantling of the Jewish national homeland that is Israel.
To maintain and propagate this deception, Al Awda’s leadership developed Points of Unity, a newspeak term for the termination of Israel and a restriction on the very freedom of speech they claim to champion. It is well known that exercising free speech in Gaza or the West Bank can net you a bullet in the back of your head. While the Points do not state that they desire the outright destruction of Israel, they demand the liberation of all Palestinian lands (a.k.a. Israel) in addition to the West Bank and Gaza.Al Awda has developed into a very profitable entity as well. As a nonprofit corporation, it raises hundreds of thousands of dollars ostensibly for Palestinian victims and refugees, but cumulative investigative findings suggest that a large portion of money raised is diverted to continue the struggle against Israel.
Over the last several years, Al Awda’s leadership has refined their methods of marketing their financial goals to the West to make it appear as an innocuous humanitarian mission, using these very conferences to disseminate their propaganda.
Investigation determined that this conference alone netted Al Awda $23,000 in donations. Although short of their goal of $100,000, the sponsors assured attendees that the money would be put to good use.

Secret gold swap has spooked the market Photo: EDDIE MULHOLLAND The news that a mystery bank has just pawned the family jewels gave traders a jolt – nervous about the sudden transfer of almost 20pc of the world's annual gold production and the possibility of a sell-off.In a tiny footnote in its annual report, the bank disclosed its unusually large holding of gold, compared with nothing the year before. The disclosure was a large factor in the correction of the gold price this week, which fell below $1,200 for the first time in more than a month.

It appears to have raised $14bn for whoever's been doing the swapping – small fry on the currency markets, but serious liquidity in the gold market.Denominated in euros, gold has fallen 8pc since the beginning of the month and is now trading at a seven-week low of €937 per troy ounce. The big gold exchange traded funds (ETFs) – having peaked at record inflows in May – have also been showing net outflows over the past few days.Meanwhile, economists and gold market-watchers were determined to hunt down which bank is short of cash – curious about who is using their stash of precious metal for what looks suspiciously like a secret bailout.At first it looked like the BIS was swapping gold with a troubled central bank. After all, the institution is the central bankers' bank and its purpose to conduct transactions with national monetary authorities.Central banks in the troubled southern zone of Europe were considered the most likely perpetrators.According to the World Gold Council, central banks in Greece, Spain and Portugal held 112.2, 281.6 and 382.5 tons of gold respectively in June – leading analysts to point fingers at Portugal, or a combination of the three.
But Edel Tully, an analyst from UBS, noted that eurozone central banks would be severely limited with what they could do with the influx of extra cash – unable to transfer it straight to governments or make use of the primary bond markets. She then listed the only other potential monetary authorities with enough gold as the US, China, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, India and Taiwan – and the International Monetary Fund.This led to musings that the counterparty was the IMF, making sense because the lender of last resort is historically prone to cash shortages and has been quietly selling off gold in the first half of the year.Renowned gold expert Jim Sinclair adopted this explanation. The panic came when people mistook a lease for a swap, he argues. Far from being a big release of gold into the market, it is simply a commercial arrangement between the IMF and BIS with a favourable rate of interest paid for the foreign currency.Gold swaps are usually undertaken by monetary authorities,he writes on his industry blog, MineSet. The gold is exchanged for foreign exchange deposits with an agreement that the transaction be unwound at a future time at an agreed price. The IMF will pay interest on the foreign exchange received. Historically swaps occur when entities like the IMF have a need for foreign exchange, but do not wish to sell the gold. In this case, gold is a leveraging device for needed currency to meet requirements.The many reports that characterise the large IMF gold swap as a sale of gold into the markets do not understand the difference between a swap and a lease.However, the day after original reports about the swaps, BIS emailed a statement saying that the swaps had not been conducted with monetary authorities but purely with commercial banks.
This did nothing to quell the sense of mystery surrounding the deal or deals. It is almost inconceivable that a single commercial bank could have accumulated so much gold alone. And cynics have suggested that the whole affair still looks like a secretive European bailout that a single country wants to keep quiet. In this case, one or more of the so-called bullion banks – which act as wholesale market-makers and include Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, HSBC, Barclays, UBS, Societe Generale, Mitsui and the Bank of Nova Scotia – would have agreed to act on behalf of a monetary authority.This would add an extra layer of anonymity. So the BIS swaps look like a tripartite transaction,writes Adrian Douglas of the Gold Anti-Trust Association.The commercial bank or banks made a swap with a central bank or banks and then the commercial bank or banks made a swap with the BIS.Analysts for Commerzbank note that in the meantime, The price of gold is tending weaker at present.
Baltic Dry Index still falling
The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of commodity shipping costs, has fallen for the longest period in nine years, due to lower volumes of iron ore being shipped to China.Surplus steel means manufacturers are relying on stockpiles, rather than shipping in iron ore from abroad. The index of freight rates on international trade routes fell 38 points, or 2pc, to 1,902 points on Friday in its 31st straight decline. Charter rates for all types of ships fell.

European cocoa buyers are so concerned about potential speculation in the market that they have written to the London commodities exchange threatening to move their trade to America.Talks between industry participants and Liffe, the London exchange operator, will take place this week, following concerns about the price spike in June. Futures hit a 32-year high, amid lower production due to diseased crops in Africa and higher demand.Those who signed the letter claim there has been excessive speculation by hedge funds and want greater transparency about who is buying what and how much.
Chronicle of currency collapses: re-examining the effects on output

Abstract:
The impact of currency collapses (ie large nominal depreciations or devaluations) on real output remains unsettled in the empirical macroeconomic literature. This paper provides new empirical evidence on this relationship using a dataset for 108 emerging and developing economies for the period 1960-2006. We provide estimates of how these episodes affect growth and output trend. Our main finding is that currency collapses are associated with a permanent output loss relative to trend, which is estimated to range between 2% and 6% of GDP. However, we show that such losses tend to materialise before the drop in the value of the currency, which suggests that the costs of a currency crash largely stem from the factors leading to it. Taken on its own (ie ceteris paribus) we find that currency collapses tend to have a positive effect on output. More generally, we also find that the likelihood of a positive growth rate in the year of the collapse is over two times more likely than a contraction; and that positive growth rates in the years that follow such episodes are the norm. Finally, we show that the persistence of the crash matters, ie one-time events induce exchange rate and output dynamics that differ from consecutive episodes.

Mr Carney is Governor of the Bank of Canada.Mr Carney's appointment as Chairman of the CGFS is for a term of three years starting on 1 July 2010. He succeeds Donald L Kohn, who has been CGFS Chairman since July 2006 and is retiring as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.Mark Carney has been Governor of the Bank of Canada since February 2008. After 13 years in the private sector, he was appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada in 2003, and then served as Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Finance from 2004 until his appointment as Governor of the Bank. Morgan Stanley says the dollar is rapidly losing its status. We already knew that central banks have preferred gold to dollars,writes Fortune, but it now seems that those central banks prefer almost anything to dollars.Both the United Nations and the IMF urge dumping the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Last year, both China and Russia questioned why the dollar should hold this status.The dollar is unsafe because of the U.S. national debt. Over the last few years bankster grocery clerks in Congress and the White House have managed run up an astronomical debt and this has destroyed the dollar. As Fortune notes, two weeks ago America’s debt went up to $166 billion in a single day, a single day run-up greater than the entire U.S. annual deficit in 2007.Fortune, of course, blames the American people for all of this, not the banksters and their buddies in the district of criminals. Americans, the world’s consumers, continue much of the behavior that helped the U.S savings rate drop so low, writes Heidi N. Moore.Savings? Since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, the dollar has lost 96% of its purchasing power. In other words, $100 today buys only 4% of the amount of good or services that it would have in 1913. On January 1, 1914, the Consumer Price Index was 10.0. The CPI was 30.9 in 1964 and last year it was 211.1.
This means that prices have risen 683% since 1964. The only problem is that your wages have not risen at the same rate, even using the government manipulated CPI. Using a true CPI figure, average weekly earnings are 64% below what they were in 1964. This explains why a family of five could live well with one parent working in 1964, but even with both parents working and using debt in prodigious amounts, the average family does not live as well today,writes Jim Quinn.Dollar devaluation is directly related to the size of the national debt. Currency loses it value when government is unable to pay off its debt. The amount of debt owed by the U.S. government to the banksters is unpayable. If all money owned by all American banks, businesses and individuals was rounded up and sent to the government, there would not be enough to pay off the national debt. It is mathematically impossible to pay it off.The government tells us the national debt is somewhere around $12.8 trillion. As shocking as that massive number is, however, it is just a fantasy — a tiny fraction of the gargantuan amount our government really owes, writes Lorimer Wilson.In addition to that official $12.8 trillion national debt, Washington has written $108 trillion in off-budget, unfunded IOUs on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, its prescription drug program, its veterans benefits programs and its Federal pension programs that must also be paid.Dollar devaluation is a natural response — in an unnatural fiat money system — to government debt.Take the case of Argentina. In 2001, the Argentine peso was pegged to the U.S. dollar. Argentina, however, was unable to pay its debt in early 2002 and the peso was devalued. The result was rampant unemployment and poverty. The regime of Domingo Cavallo imposed austerity on the people (as the IMF insisted it do) and this resulted in a general strike and a state of siege against the people by the government.In February the credit ratings agency Moody’s Investor Service warned that the U.S. is at risk of losing its AAA credit rating. The US government may be forced to devalue the dollar if … investment rating agencies (Fitch, Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s) down-rate the value of US Treasury bonds as they should, writes author Bill Sardi. Government cannot meet all its obligations and promises by raising taxes on the wealthy. Its only option now is to officially devalue the dollar, probably by 30%.
In 2008, as the engineered global financial crisis was beginning to pick up steam, trend forecaster Gerald Celente said that the dollar would eventually be devalued by as much as 90 per cent. Celente’s track record is impeccable. He successfully predicted the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis and the subprime mortgage collapse. The euro is following the dollar down the tubes. The IMF and the United Nations suggest replacing these currencies with special drawing rights (SDRs), an international reserve asset that is used as a unit of payment on IMF loans and is made up of a basket of currencies. A new global reserve system could be created, one that no longer relies on the United States dollar as the single major reserve currency, a United Nations report states.During the G20 confab in 2009 plans were announced for implementing the creation of a new global currency. There is now a world currency in waiting, a communiqué released by the G20 stated. The creation of a Financial Stability Board looks like the first step towards a global financial regulator and thus a world bank as a component of one-world government.In 2008 Obama’s Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said after attending a Bilderberg meeting that the Federal Reserve should play a central role in a new global banking regulatory framework. The banksters are diligently putting all their pieces into place.Ultimately, what this implies is that the future of the global political economy is one of increasing moves toward a global system of governance, or a world government, with a world central bank and global currency,writes Andrew Gavin Marshall, and that, concurrently, these developments are likely to materialize in the face of and as a result of a decline in democracy around the world, and thus, a rise in authoritarianism. What we are witnessing is the creation of a New World Order, composed of a totalitarian global government structure.Marshall notes that the very concept of a global currency and global central bank is authoritarian and removes any vestiges of oversight and accountability away from the people toward a small, increasingly interconnected group of international elites.
Marshall cites Carroll Quigley: [T]he powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.In order for this long sought after agenda to be successful America and its currency must be destroyed. As noted by Fortune, central banks around the world are now picking up the pace in the abandonment of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. It is part of the plan and so is the destruction of America’s middle class now underway.

Countless times Trichet speaks about global governance of global finance and economy - which automatically leads to world government. And what a conspiracy: The financial regulators are gigantic fraudsters, i.a. one US vice president, one US treasury secretary, drug bosses and puppets.
In a speech before the elitist Council On Foreign Relations in New York, President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet called for the imposition of global governance to be bossed by the G20 and the corrupt Bank for International Settlements and its twin, the IMF. The following seems an echo of EU-president van Rompuy, who has declared 2009 the first year of global governance – and WTO boss Pascal Lamy, who also incessantly is speaking about global governance. This has a natural explanation: Mr. Trichet is also an Arch Bilderberger attendee: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009. Who after the following talks about conspiracy theory in the context of elitist world governance = world government lives in a fantasy world – or partakes of the conspiracy. For the reality is undemokratic elitist conspiracy, being kept secret by the mass media.

I would like to stress four points
1. global governance is of the essence to improve decisively the resilience of the global financial system. Governments had to support the financial sector by putting at risk taxpayers’ money for the equivalent of around 25 % of GDP on both sides of the Atlantic. This as unprecedented.
2. The recent turbulences not only displayed a high level of unpredictability but also an extreme rapidity in the succession of events. Global governance today must demonstrate a capacity to coordinate with agility and to decide extremely swiftly.
3. the crisis has unleashed a tendency to reengage in financial nationalism if not mercantilism. It is imperative that effective global governance preserve the level playing field which is indispensable to foster global stability and prosperity.
4. as we have seen the crisis has driven an historic change in the framework of global governance. In my view this transformation was overdue. But there are two immediate reasons for this change. a. the emerging economies must have a full and proper ownership of global governance. b. The industrialised countries have proven particularly clumsy when their responsibility in global governance was obviously overwhelming.
There are numerous definitions of global governance. In the economic and financial sphere I will propose that global governance comprehends not only the constellation of supranational institutions – but also the informal groupings that have progressively emerged at the global level. Those informal forums (G7, G10, G20, etc.) are key in improving global coordination in all the areas where decision making processes remain national.One of the global governance’s primary aims should be that of facilitating the proper functioning of cross-border markets. Markets need an effective regulatory and supervisory infrastructure. Governments, central banks, international institutions and globally agreed prudential standards and codes are the means by which we collectively seek global economic stability.The principle of subsidiarity is essential.The global financial crisis has crushed former convictions that keeping order in one´s own house is the best principle for securing global welfare.
2. Let me now turn to how our institutions of global governance in the financial sphere have fared during the crisis.One dimension of international cooperation that I consider to have worked particularly well during the financial crisis has been that among central banks – both bilaterally and channelled through the various Basel-based committees in, for instance, the provision of cross-border liquidity. The Bank of International Settlement (BIS) itself has been ahead of the curve in terms of identifying unsustainable trends in the financial sector and more generally in the global economy based on a high degree of analytical depth and information sharing at a global level that the central banks’ global cooperation has been able to develop over time.
Regulatory arbitrage
We should remember the significant shortcomings that may have contributed to creating the conditions for the crisis to happen in the first place. One is the lack of coordination in financial regulation that was pervasive before the crisis and which encouraged financial institutions to engage in a large degree of regulatory arbitrage. This was the unavoidable result of the fact …, that financial regulation remained largely national, with only relatively weak coordination at the international level. Reform is essential.
Global imbalances
Another shortcoming that needs to be addressed for the future was the insufficient orientation of macroeconomic policies towards medium-term stability and sustainability. This led to the build-up of unsustainable external imbalances between deficit and surplus economies prior to the crisis. There was no effective mechanism to influence macroeconomic and structural policies in key countries. This must change.
3. Let me turn to the question of how global governance is evolving after the crisis.
After an initially hesitant response, governments implemented broadly coordinated policies, both within the EU as well as at the global level under the aegis of the G20. And central banks were able to take quick, decisive and coordinated action at short notice.But the crisis also showed that gaps in the system of global governance – in terms of both efficiency and legitimacy – have to be filled. This can be done – indeed, it is being done – by strengthening the mandate of existing international institutionsdeveloping new informal forums. Overall, the system is moving decisively towards genuine global governance that is much more inclusive, encompassing key emerging economies as well as industrialised countries.The significant transformation of and adjusting existing or global governance that we are engineering today is illustrated by three examples. a.the emergence of the G20 as the prime group for global economic governance at the level of ministers, governors and heads of state or government. b. The Global Economy Meeting (GEM) of central bank governors under the auspices of the BIS as the prime group for the governance of central bank cooperation. And third, the extension of c. the Financial Stability Board membership to include all the systemic emerging market economies.
In the area of central bank cooperation, the main forum is the GEM, which gathers at the BIS headquarter in Basel. The GEM, in which all systemic emerging economies’ Central Bank governors are fully participating, has become the prime group for global governance among central banks.I have the privilege of chairing the GEM presently.
The G20 has been effective in addressing the global crisis. We are now at the stage where this forum is making the transition from acting in a crisis resolution mode to contributing to crisis prevention. This is, in particular, the purposes of the G20 framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth. For this purpose a Mutual Assessment Process (MAP) has been set up that will allow to assess whether policies of individual members are collectively consistent with sustainable and balanced growth trajectories. The first steps in this MAP have been presented by the IMF to the G20 Ministers and Governors last week during our spring Washington meetings. Guidance has been given to the IMF on the next steps in the process.
Strengthening institutions
The Financial Stability Board (FSB)´s membership is now largely overlapping that of the G20. The FSB has received an enhanced mandate to strengthen the international financial architecture and global financial stability, including a joint early warning exercise for the identification of risks to the global economy.The IMF itself has overhauled its lending framework. Micro-prudential supervision will be reinforced with the creation of a European System of Financial Supervisors, including three new European supervisory authorities in banking, insurance and securities. Moreover, micro-prudential supervision will be complemented by macro-prudential supervision, focusing on the prevention of systemic risk.
All three elements I have just described are key features of systemic risk: contagion; the build-up of financial imbalances and unsustainable trends; and the close links with the real economy and the potential for strong feedback effects. In short, the crisis has revealed the fundamental importance of systemic risk. The purpose of macro-prudential supervision is to identify sources of systemic risk and recommend remedial action. In the EU, this will be the task of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). The members of the ECB’s General Council will be voting members of the ESRB, together with the three heads of the envisaged European supervisory authorities and a member of the Commission. Moreover, the body will comprise all national supervisory authorities.

Who is the BIS?
InvestorInsight: It is the most powerful bank you ever heard of: Promoting monetary and financial stability is one key objective of the BIS. The bank sees as its primary job the stabilization of world financial markets. It accomplishes this through control of currencies. It currently holds 7% of the world's available foreign exchange funds, whose unit of account was switched in March of 2003 from the Swiss gold franc to Special Drawing Rights (SDR), an artificial fiat money with a value based on a basket of currencies (44% U.S. dollar, 34% euro, 11% Japanese yen, 11% pound sterling). The bank also controls a huge amount of gold – according to its 2005 annual report (the most recent) 712 tons. By controlling foreign exchange currency, plus gold, the BIS can go a long way toward determining the economic conditions in any given country. Remember that the next time Ben Bernanke or European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet announces an interest rate hike. You can bet it didn't happen without the concurrence of the BIS Board. Obviously, this bank wields a lot of power. Anyone with the power to prevent a currency debacle can also cause one.The BIS can launder money. E.g. U.S. tax money can be passed through the BIS to the IMF and from there anywhere. This is what happened during the Brazilian panic of 1998. Really, the money was subsidizing the big American banks (Citigroup - Rothschild, and here, JP Morgan (Rothschild) Chase and FleetBoston among them) who had made many risky loans and had no desire to pay a penalty for their mistakes. U.S. taxpayers were told nothing about it.

Furthermore, officers and employees of BIS enjoy immunity from criminal and administrative jurisdiction.Finally, no claims against BIS or its deposits may be enforced without the prior agreement of the Bank.In other words they can do whatever they want, without consequences.The bank was a major player promoting the adoption of the euro as Europe's common currency. There are rumors that its next project is persuading the U.S., Canada and Mexico to switch to a similar regional money, perhaps to be called the mero,and it's logical to assume the bank's ultimate goal is a single world currency. That would simplify transactions and really solidify the bank's control of the planetary economy.”
Comment
Thus, we have the the chief of the European Central Bank standing before the invisible government of the US, who gives Hillary Clinton her orders, and would-be government of the world , Rockefeller´s Council on Foreign Relations. Incessantly, Mr. Trichet is telling that we need world governance, in particular economic world governance – through the GEM (which he chairs) of Rothschild´s Bank for International Settlements so closely interwoven with the IMF and its SDRs. His argument is that the magnitude of the current crisis was due to the insufficiency of national economic regulation – practically forgetting Alan Greenspan´s FED´s responsibility for the disastrous low interest rate policy in the US and the Role of the Wall Street banks and here. So he demands strengthening of existing global institutions – and the advent of new ones. He wants the the BIS twin´s, the IMF´s brainchild, the MAP, to control and command the economies of the national states. A funny thing is, that the EU´s new financial regulatory bodies are largely the same that allowed the current financial crisis to develop into the current economic crisis, viz. Rothschild´s minions - as proposed by Rothschild´s European Financial Services Round Table under the direction of Pehr Gyllenhammar - then to rob us through tax payer bail-outs. And who is the BIS really: It is Rothschild´s bank – founded by Rothschild´s agents, Charles Dawes and Owen Young + Hitler´s Central bank manager to be, Hjalmar Schacht.Andrew Hitchcock quotes Bill Clinton´s mentor, prof. Carroll Quigley, who was allowed to study the CFR archives:The powers of financial capitalism had (a) far reaching (plan), nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert. The apex of the system was to be the Bank For International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland.Here Hitchcock (see the year 1930) calls the BIS Rothschild´s first world bank. Here is how Nathan Rothschild took power of the Bank of England in 1815 (video 59–1.04 min). In 1818 Rothschild took over the French money supply – and in 1830 the money supply of the Vatican. Here is how Rothschild´s henchmen, Paul Waburg, JP Morgan and the Rockefeller family (Nelson Aldrich) established the US Federal Reserve – and how they have been abusing it eversince. Here is how they have been working. The FSB mentioned by Trichet is a wing of Rothschild´s BIS. The bank supervision institutions mentioned by Trichet are the brainchildren of the previous IMF chief Jacques de Larosière. The board of the ECB has 3 BIS board members besides Trichet. And who triggered the current crisis? the CNBC has a bid: The illuminati! And indeed, they did and are doing.

A: Goldman Sachs CEO, Hank Paulson (later US Secr. of the Treasury) bought Collateralized Debt Obligations of the worst subprime mortgages backed by fraudulent liar loans, had some of them sold by his partner John Paulson, telling customers that they were the safest in the market. Then John secretely bet that the CDOs would fail, as they certainly did, as Hank Paulson launched a successful war against securities - now as US Treasury Secretary!! This brought John Paulson an enormous gain. Then as US Treasury Secr. Paulson secured Goldman Sachs a huge bail-out with taxpayer money to sanitate Hank Paulson´s toxic CDOs. Before that, the US government even threatened Congress to introduce martial law, unless they passed Paulson´s bail-out legislation!!! Now Goldman Sachs stands trial for fraud!
B: When Al Gore was Vice President his priority was reinventing government.The premise of reinventing government was that it needed to be fundamentally changed to more closely resemble a private corporation and to partner with private firms (Mussolini´s definition of fascism). Financial regulators were instructed to refer to the banks and S&Ls they were supposed to regulate as their customers.The message they are sending is that the industry/anti-regulator partnership will work together to destroy financial regulation. It is no surprise that the federally regulated (sic) financial institutions which produced the worst frauds (or, at least, the worst we know of at this point) were S&Ls.
C: The Fed´s Ben Bernanke is a failed regulator that ignored every warning and refused on ideological grounds to act under HOEPA to stop the fraud epidemic.
D: The UN-chief on drugs, Antonio Maria Costa, stated that liquid investment capital generated from drug trafficking helped to keep the financial system going in 2008. He said: In the second half of 2008, liquidity was the banking system's main problem and hence liquid capital became an important factor … Inter-bank loans were funded by money that originated from the drugs trade and other illegal activities … There were signs that some banks were rescued that way.

Secret gold swap has spooked the market Photo: EDDIE MULHOLLAND The news that a mystery bank has just pawned the family jewels gave traders a jolt – nervous about the sudden transfer of almost 20pc of the world's annual gold production and the possibility of a sell-off.In a tiny footnote in its annual report, the bank disclosed its unusually large holding of gold, compared with nothing the year before. The disclosure was a large factor in the correction of the gold price this week, which fell below $1,200 for the first time in more than a month.

It appears to have raised $14bn for whoever's been doing the swapping – small fry on the currency markets, but serious liquidity in the gold market.Denominated in euros, gold has fallen 8pc since the beginning of the month and is now trading at a seven-week low of €937 per troy ounce. The big gold exchange traded funds (ETFs) – having peaked at record inflows in May – have also been showing net outflows over the past few days.Meanwhile, economists and gold market-watchers were determined to hunt down which bank is short of cash – curious about who is using their stash of precious metal for what looks suspiciously like a secret bailout.At first it looked like the BIS was swapping gold with a troubled central bank. After all, the institution is the central bankers' bank and its purpose to conduct transactions with national monetary authorities.Central banks in the troubled southern zone of Europe were considered the most likely perpetrators.According to the World Gold Council, central banks in Greece, Spain and Portugal held 112.2, 281.6 and 382.5 tons of gold respectively in June – leading analysts to point fingers at Portugal, or a combination of the three.
But Edel Tully, an analyst from UBS, noted that eurozone central banks would be severely limited with what they could do with the influx of extra cash – unable to transfer it straight to governments or make use of the primary bond markets. She then listed the only other potential monetary authorities with enough gold as the US, China, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, India and Taiwan – and the International Monetary Fund.This led to musings that the counterparty was the IMF, making sense because the lender of last resort is historically prone to cash shortages and has been quietly selling off gold in the first half of the year.Renowned gold expert Jim Sinclair adopted this explanation. The panic came when people mistook a lease for a swap, he argues. Far from being a big release of gold into the market, it is simply a commercial arrangement between the IMF and BIS with a favourable rate of interest paid for the foreign currency.Gold swaps are usually undertaken by monetary authorities,he writes on his industry blog, MineSet. The gold is exchanged for foreign exchange deposits with an agreement that the transaction be unwound at a future time at an agreed price. The IMF will pay interest on the foreign exchange received. Historically swaps occur when entities like the IMF have a need for foreign exchange, but do not wish to sell the gold. In this case, gold is a leveraging device for needed currency to meet requirements.The many reports that characterise the large IMF gold swap as a sale of gold into the markets do not understand the difference between a swap and a lease.However, the day after original reports about the swaps, BIS emailed a statement saying that the swaps had not been conducted with monetary authorities but purely with commercial banks.
This did nothing to quell the sense of mystery surrounding the deal or deals. It is almost inconceivable that a single commercial bank could have accumulated so much gold alone. And cynics have suggested that the whole affair still looks like a secretive European bailout that a single country wants to keep quiet. In this case, one or more of the so-called bullion banks – which act as wholesale market-makers and include Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, HSBC, Barclays, UBS, Societe Generale, Mitsui and the Bank of Nova Scotia – would have agreed to act on behalf of a monetary authority.This would add an extra layer of anonymity. So the BIS swaps look like a tripartite transaction,writes Adrian Douglas of the Gold Anti-Trust Association.The commercial bank or banks made a swap with a central bank or banks and then the commercial bank or banks made a swap with the BIS.Analysts for Commerzbank note that in the meantime, The price of gold is tending weaker at present.
Baltic Dry Index still falling
The Baltic Dry Index, a measure of commodity shipping costs, has fallen for the longest period in nine years, due to lower volumes of iron ore being shipped to China.Surplus steel means manufacturers are relying on stockpiles, rather than shipping in iron ore from abroad. The index of freight rates on international trade routes fell 38 points, or 2pc, to 1,902 points on Friday in its 31st straight decline. Charter rates for all types of ships fell.

European cocoa buyers are so concerned about potential speculation in the market that they have written to the London commodities exchange threatening to move their trade to America.Talks between industry participants and Liffe, the London exchange operator, will take place this week, following concerns about the price spike in June. Futures hit a 32-year high, amid lower production due to diseased crops in Africa and higher demand.Those who signed the letter claim there has been excessive speculation by hedge funds and want greater transparency about who is buying what and how much.
Chronicle of currency collapses: re-examining the effects on output

Abstract:
The impact of currency collapses (ie large nominal depreciations or devaluations) on real output remains unsettled in the empirical macroeconomic literature. This paper provides new empirical evidence on this relationship using a dataset for 108 emerging and developing economies for the period 1960-2006. We provide estimates of how these episodes affect growth and output trend. Our main finding is that currency collapses are associated with a permanent output loss relative to trend, which is estimated to range between 2% and 6% of GDP. However, we show that such losses tend to materialise before the drop in the value of the currency, which suggests that the costs of a currency crash largely stem from the factors leading to it. Taken on its own (ie ceteris paribus) we find that currency collapses tend to have a positive effect on output. More generally, we also find that the likelihood of a positive growth rate in the year of the collapse is over two times more likely than a contraction; and that positive growth rates in the years that follow such episodes are the norm. Finally, we show that the persistence of the crash matters, ie one-time events induce exchange rate and output dynamics that differ from consecutive episodes.

At their meeting in Basel this weekend, the central bank Governors of the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) 1 appointed Mark Carney as Chairman of the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS). Mr Carney is Governor of the Bank of Canada.Mr Carney's appointment as Chairman of the CGFS is for a term of three years starting on 1 July 2010. He succeeds Donald L Kohn, who has been CGFS Chairman since July 2006 and is retiring as Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.Mark Carney has been Governor of the Bank of Canada since February 2008. After 13 years in the private sector, he was appointed Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada in 2003, and then served as Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Finance from 2004 until his appointment as Governor of the Bank. Back in January Lindsey Williams’ insider sources told him the dollar will be devalued within a year. In response, oil and food prices will rise significantly and the elite and banksters will move assets into gold and silver.The United Nations says the dollar must be replaced as the world’s reserve currency.On Friday Fortune reported that central banks are now abandoning the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Morgan Stanley says the dollar is rapidly losing its status. We already knew that central banks have preferred gold to dollars,writes Fortune, but it now seems that those central banks prefer almost anything to dollars.Both the United Nations and the IMF urge dumping the dollar as the world’s reserve currency. Last year, both China and Russia questioned why the dollar should hold this status.The dollar is unsafe because of the U.S. national debt. Over the last few years bankster grocery clerks in Congress and the White House have managed run up an astronomical debt and this has destroyed the dollar. As Fortune notes, two weeks ago America’s debt went up to $166 billion in a single day, a single day run-up greater than the entire U.S. annual deficit in 2007.Fortune, of course, blames the American people for all of this, not the banksters and their buddies in the district of criminals. Americans, the world’s consumers, continue much of the behavior that helped the U.S savings rate drop so low, writes Heidi N. Moore.Savings? Since the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, the dollar has lost 96% of its purchasing power. In other words, $100 today buys only 4% of the amount of good or services that it would have in 1913. On January 1, 1914, the Consumer Price Index was 10.0. The CPI was 30.9 in 1964 and last year it was 211.1.
This means that prices have risen 683% since 1964. The only problem is that your wages have not risen at the same rate, even using the government manipulated CPI. Using a true CPI figure, average weekly earnings are 64% below what they were in 1964. This explains why a family of five could live well with one parent working in 1964, but even with both parents working and using debt in prodigious amounts, the average family does not live as well today,writes Jim Quinn.Dollar devaluation is directly related to the size of the national debt. Currency loses it value when government is unable to pay off its debt. The amount of debt owed by the U.S. government to the banksters is unpayable. If all money owned by all American banks, businesses and individuals was rounded up and sent to the government, there would not be enough to pay off the national debt. It is mathematically impossible to pay it off.The government tells us the national debt is somewhere around $12.8 trillion. As shocking as that massive number is, however, it is just a fantasy — a tiny fraction of the gargantuan amount our government really owes, writes Lorimer Wilson.In addition to that official $12.8 trillion national debt, Washington has written $108 trillion in off-budget, unfunded IOUs on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, its prescription drug program, its veterans benefits programs and its Federal pension programs that must also be paid.Dollar devaluation is a natural response — in an unnatural fiat money system — to government debt.Take the case of Argentina. In 2001, the Argentine peso was pegged to the U.S. dollar. Argentina, however, was unable to pay its debt in early 2002 and the peso was devalued. The result was rampant unemployment and poverty. The regime of Domingo Cavallo imposed austerity on the people (as the IMF insisted it do) and this resulted in a general strike and a state of siege against the people by the government.In February the credit ratings agency Moody’s Investor Service warned that the U.S. is at risk of losing its AAA credit rating. The US government may be forced to devalue the dollar if … investment rating agencies (Fitch, Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s) down-rate the value of US Treasury bonds as they should, writes author Bill Sardi. Government cannot meet all its obligations and promises by raising taxes on the wealthy. Its only option now is to officially devalue the dollar, probably by 30%.
In 2008, as the engineered global financial crisis was beginning to pick up steam, trend forecaster Gerald Celente said that the dollar would eventually be devalued by as much as 90 per cent. Celente’s track record is impeccable. He successfully predicted the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis and the subprime mortgage collapse. The euro is following the dollar down the tubes. The IMF and the United Nations suggest replacing these currencies with special drawing rights (SDRs), an international reserve asset that is used as a unit of payment on IMF loans and is made up of a basket of currencies. A new global reserve system could be created, one that no longer relies on the United States dollar as the single major reserve currency, a United Nations report states.During the G20 confab in 2009 plans were announced for implementing the creation of a new global currency. There is now a world currency in waiting, a communiqué released by the G20 stated. The creation of a Financial Stability Board looks like the first step towards a global financial regulator and thus a world bank as a component of one-world government.In 2008 Obama’s Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said after attending a Bilderberg meeting that the Federal Reserve should play a central role in a new global banking regulatory framework. The banksters are diligently putting all their pieces into place.Ultimately, what this implies is that the future of the global political economy is one of increasing moves toward a global system of governance, or a world government, with a world central bank and global currency,writes Andrew Gavin Marshall, and that, concurrently, these developments are likely to materialize in the face of and as a result of a decline in democracy around the world, and thus, a rise in authoritarianism. What we are witnessing is the creation of a New World Order, composed of a totalitarian global government structure.Marshall notes that the very concept of a global currency and global central bank is authoritarian and removes any vestiges of oversight and accountability away from the people toward a small, increasingly interconnected group of international elites.
Marshall cites Carroll Quigley: [T]he powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations.In order for this long sought after agenda to be successful America and its currency must be destroyed. As noted by Fortune, central banks around the world are now picking up the pace in the abandonment of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency. It is part of the plan and so is the destruction of America’s middle class now underway.

Summary: The head of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet, has given a speech on global governance/world government of fiscal matters to the invisible US government, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), who gives Hillary Clinton her orders about her policies. The reason is the global financial/economic crisis created by Wall Street banking circles behind the CFR, the Fed and the CFR Bill Clinton. Unabashingly, Mr. Trichet tells that the reason for the crisis is that the financial supervisory authorities of the nation states failed. Therefore, he says, it is so good that a Financial Stability Board (FSB) is being created, the members of which include the G20, which he says have taken over world government in both crisis and normal times. Europe has introduced the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). Moreover, he speaks about Rothschild´s central banks and Rothschild´s BIS, the most powerful, most corrupt and undemocratic bank, the world has seen, the central bank of central banks, together with its twin brother, the IMF, as our saviours in the ongoing crisis! In particular, we must be grateful to the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) of governors of the central banks within the BIS framework, which Mr. Trichet chairs! Oddly, all these oversight bodies are more or less the same Rothschild people who connived at the frauds in the form of subprime loans and other fancy products, the banks sold - which led to the current crisis. Now the G20 is implementing the IMF proposal on the Mutual Assessment Process (MAP) to monitor national economies instead of fraudulent banking networks. However, to keep up appearances, the EU is introducing three new European regulatory bodies for banking, insurance and securities - on a proposal by former IMF boss, Jacques de Larosière - on the advice of Rothschild´s Financial Services Round Table, led by illuminist Pehr Gyllenhammar. Countless times Trichet speaks about global governance of global finance and economy - which automatically leads to world government. To hear this is an echo of speeches given by WTO chief Pascal Lamy and EU president, Herman van Rompuy. No wonder: Like them Mr. Trichet is a Bilderberg participant, even 10 times. Accordingly, anyone who calls quotations from Mr. Barroso´s, Sarkozy´s, Gordon Brown´s, Pres, Bush Sr.´s, Henry Kissinger´s, etc. video talking about world governance conspiracy theory lives in a fantasy world - or is involved in the ongoing conspiracy. And what a conspiracy: The financial regulators are gigantic fraudsters, i.a. one US vice president, one US treasury secretary, drug bosses and puppets.
In a speech before the elitist Council On Foreign Relations in New York, President of the European Central Bank Jean-Claude Trichet called for the imposition of global governance to be bossed by the G20 and the corrupt Bank for International Settlements and its twin, the IMF. The following seems an echo of EU-president van Rompuy, who has declared 2009 the first year of global governance – and WTO boss Pascal Lamy, who also incessantly is speaking about global governance. This has a natural explanation: Mr. Trichet is also an Arch Bilderberger attendee: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009. Who after the following talks about conspiracy theory in the context of elitist world governance = world government lives in a fantasy world – or partakes of the conspiracy. For the reality is undemokratic elitist conspiracy, being kept secret by the mass media.

I would like to stress four points
1. global governance is of the essence to improve decisively the resilience of the global financial system. Governments had to support the financial sector by putting at risk taxpayers’ money for the equivalent of around 25 % of GDP on both sides of the Atlantic. This as unprecedented.
2. The recent turbulences not only displayed a high level of unpredictability but also an extreme rapidity in the succession of events. Global governance today must demonstrate a capacity to coordinate with agility and to decide extremely swiftly.
3. the crisis has unleashed a tendency to reengage in financial nationalism if not mercantilism. It is imperative that effective global governance preserve the level playing field which is indispensable to foster global stability and prosperity.
4. as we have seen the crisis has driven an historic change in the framework of global governance. In my view this transformation was overdue. But there are two immediate reasons for this change. a. the emerging economies must have a full and proper ownership of global governance. b. The industrialised countries have proven particularly clumsy when their responsibility in global governance was obviously overwhelming.
There are numerous definitions of global governance. In the economic and financial sphere I will propose that global governance comprehends not only the constellation of supranational institutions – but also the informal groupings that have progressively emerged at the global level. Those informal forums (G7, G10, G20, etc.) are key in improving global coordination in all the areas where decision making processes remain national.One of the global governance’s primary aims should be that of facilitating the proper functioning of cross-border markets. Markets need an effective regulatory and supervisory infrastructure. Governments, central banks, international institutions and globally agreed prudential standards and codes are the means by which we collectively seek global economic stability.The principle of subsidiarity is essential.The global financial crisis has crushed former convictions that keeping order in one´s own house is the best principle for securing global welfare.
2. Let me now turn to how our institutions of global governance in the financial sphere have fared during the crisis.One dimension of international cooperation that I consider to have worked particularly well during the financial crisis has been that among central banks – both bilaterally and channelled through the various Basel-based committees in, for instance, the provision of cross-border liquidity. The Bank of International Settlement (BIS) itself has been ahead of the curve in terms of identifying unsustainable trends in the financial sector and more generally in the global economy based on a high degree of analytical depth and information sharing at a global level that the central banks’ global cooperation has been able to develop over time.
Regulatory arbitrage
We should remember the significant shortcomings that may have contributed to creating the conditions for the crisis to happen in the first place. One is the lack of coordination in financial regulation that was pervasive before the crisis and which encouraged financial institutions to engage in a large degree of regulatory arbitrage. This was the unavoidable result of the fact …, that financial regulation remained largely national, with only relatively weak coordination at the international level. Reform is essential.
Global imbalances
Another shortcoming that needs to be addressed for the future was the insufficient orientation of macroeconomic policies towards medium-term stability and sustainability. This led to the build-up of unsustainable external imbalances between deficit and surplus economies prior to the crisis. There was no effective mechanism to influence macroeconomic and structural policies in key countries. This must change.
3. Let me turn to the question of how global governance is evolving after the crisis.
After an initially hesitant response, governments implemented broadly coordinated policies, both within the EU as well as at the global level under the aegis of the G20. And central banks were able to take quick, decisive and coordinated action at short notice.But the crisis also showed that gaps in the system of global governance – in terms of both efficiency and legitimacy – have to be filled. This can be done – indeed, it is being done – by strengthening the mandate of existing international institutionsdeveloping new informal forums. Overall, the system is moving decisively towards genuine global governance that is much more inclusive, encompassing key emerging economies as well as industrialised countries.The significant transformation of and adjusting existing or global governance that we are engineering today is illustrated by three examples. a.the emergence of the G20 as the prime group for global economic governance at the level of ministers, governors and heads of state or government. b. The Global Economy Meeting (GEM) of central bank governors under the auspices of the BIS as the prime group for the governance of central bank cooperation. And third, the extension of c. the Financial Stability Board membership to include all the systemic emerging market economies.
In the area of central bank cooperation, the main forum is the GEM, which gathers at the BIS headquarter in Basel. The GEM, in which all systemic emerging economies’ Central Bank governors are fully participating, has become the prime group for global governance among central banks.I have the privilege of chairing the GEM presently.
The G20 has been effective in addressing the global crisis. We are now at the stage where this forum is making the transition from acting in a crisis resolution mode to contributing to crisis prevention. This is, in particular, the purposes of the G20 framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth. For this purpose a Mutual Assessment Process (MAP) has been set up that will allow to assess whether policies of individual members are collectively consistent with sustainable and balanced growth trajectories. The first steps in this MAP have been presented by the IMF to the G20 Ministers and Governors last week during our spring Washington meetings. Guidance has been given to the IMF on the next steps in the process.
Strengthening institutions
The Financial Stability Board (FSB)´s membership is now largely overlapping that of the G20. The FSB has received an enhanced mandate to strengthen the international financial architecture and global financial stability, including a joint early warning exercise for the identification of risks to the global economy.The IMF itself has overhauled its lending framework. Micro-prudential supervision will be reinforced with the creation of a European System of Financial Supervisors, including three new European supervisory authorities in banking, insurance and securities. Moreover, micro-prudential supervision will be complemented by macro-prudential supervision, focusing on the prevention of systemic risk.
All three elements I have just described are key features of systemic risk: contagion; the build-up of financial imbalances and unsustainable trends; and the close links with the real economy and the potential for strong feedback effects. In short, the crisis has revealed the fundamental importance of systemic risk. The purpose of macro-prudential supervision is to identify sources of systemic risk and recommend remedial action. In the EU, this will be the task of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). The members of the ECB’s General Council will be voting members of the ESRB, together with the three heads of the envisaged European supervisory authorities and a member of the Commission. Moreover, the body will comprise all national supervisory authorities.

Who is the BIS?
InvestorInsight: It is the most powerful bank you ever heard of: Promoting monetary and financial stability is one key objective of the BIS. The bank sees as its primary job the stabilization of world financial markets. It accomplishes this through control of currencies. It currently holds 7% of the world's available foreign exchange funds, whose unit of account was switched in March of 2003 from the Swiss gold franc to Special Drawing Rights (SDR), an artificial fiat money with a value based on a basket of currencies (44% U.S. dollar, 34% euro, 11% Japanese yen, 11% pound sterling). The bank also controls a huge amount of gold – according to its 2005 annual report (the most recent) 712 tons. By controlling foreign exchange currency, plus gold, the BIS can go a long way toward determining the economic conditions in any given country. Remember that the next time Ben Bernanke or European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet announces an interest rate hike. You can bet it didn't happen without the concurrence of the BIS Board. Obviously, this bank wields a lot of power. Anyone with the power to prevent a currency debacle can also cause one.The BIS can launder money. E.g. U.S. tax money can be passed through the BIS to the IMF and from there anywhere. This is what happened during the Brazilian panic of 1998. Really, the money was subsidizing the big American banks (Citigroup - Rothschild, and here, JP Morgan (Rothschild) Chase and FleetBoston among them) who had made many risky loans and had no desire to pay a penalty for their mistakes. U.S. taxpayers were told nothing about it.

Thus, we have the the chief of the European Central Bank standing before the invisible government of the US, who gives Hillary Clinton her orders, and would-be government of the world , Rockefeller´s Council on Foreign Relations. Incessantly, Mr. Trichet is telling that we need world governance, in particular economic world governance – through the GEM (which he chairs) of Rothschild´s Bank for International Settlements so closely interwoven with the IMF and its SDRs. His argument is that the magnitude of the current crisis was due to the insufficiency of national economic regulation – practically forgetting Alan Greenspan´s FED´s responsibility for the disastrous low interest rate policy in the US and the Role of the Wall Street banks and here. So he demands strengthening of existing global institutions – and the advent of new ones. He wants the the BIS twin´s, the IMF´s brainchild, the MAP, to control and command the economies of the national states. A funny thing is, that the EU´s new financial regulatory bodies are largely the same that allowed the current financial crisis to develop into the current economic crisis, viz. Rothschild´s minions - as proposed by Rothschild´s European Financial Services Round Table under the direction of Pehr Gyllenhammar - then to rob us through tax payer bail-outs. And who is the BIS really: It is Rothschild´s bank – founded by Rothschild´s agents, Charles Dawes and Owen Young + Hitler´s Central bank manager to be, Hjalmar Schacht.Andrew Hitchcock quotes Bill Clinton´s mentor, prof. And who triggered the current crisis? the CNBC has a bid: The illuminati! And indeed, they did and are doing.

A: Goldman Sachs CEO, Hank Paulson (later US Secr. of the Treasury) bought Collateralized Debt Obligations of the worst subprime mortgages backed by fraudulent liar loans, had some of them sold by his partner John Paulson, telling customers that they were the safest in the market. Then John secretely bet that the CDOs would fail, as they certainly did, as Hank Paulson launched a successful war against securities - now as US Treasury Secretary!! This brought John Paulson an enormous gain. Then as US Treasury Secr. Paulson secured Goldman Sachs a huge bail-out with taxpayer money to sanitate Hank Paulson´s toxic CDOs. Before that, the US government even threatened Congress to introduce martial law, unless they passed Paulson´s bail-out legislation!!! Now Goldman Sachs stands trial for fraud!
B: When Al Gore was Vice President his priority was reinventing government.The premise of reinventing government was that it needed to be fundamentally changed to more closely resemble a private corporation and to partner with private firms (Mussolini´s definition of fascism). Financial regulators were instructed to refer to the banks and S&Ls they were supposed to regulate as their customers.The message they are sending is that the industry/anti-regulator partnership will work together to destroy financial regulation. It is no surprise that the federally regulated (sic) financial institutions which produced the worst frauds (or, at least, the worst we know of at this point) were S&Ls.
C: The Fed´s Ben Bernanke is a failed regulator that ignored every warning and refused on ideological grounds to act under HOEPA to stop the fraud epidemic.
D: The UN-chief on drugs, Antonio Maria Costa, stated that liquid investment capital generated from drug trafficking helped to keep the financial system going in 2008. He said: In the second half of 2008, liquidity was the banking system's main problem and hence liquid capital became an important factor … Inter-bank loans were funded by money that originated from the drugs trade and other illegal activities … There were signs that some banks were rescued that way.
