TORAH PORTION FROM MAY 23,2010 6PM - MAY 29,6PM 2010

NUMBERS 8:1 - 12:16
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.
3 And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
4 And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.
5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
6 Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
7 And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
8 Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
9 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
10 And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
11 And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
12 And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.
13 And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
14 Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
15 And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
16 For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
17 For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
18 And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
19 And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
20 And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
21 And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
22 And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
24 This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
25 And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
26 But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

NUMBERS 9:1-23
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.
3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
8 And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.
9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.
13 But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
18 At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the LORD, and journeyed not.
20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the LORD they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the LORD they journeyed.
21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
23 At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

NUMBERS 10:1-36
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps.
3 And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
4 And if they blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.
5 When ye blow an alarm, then the camps that lie on the east parts shall go forward.
6 When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.
7 But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.
8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
9 And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
10 Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
11 And it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.
12 And the children of Israel took their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud rested in the wilderness of Paran.
13 And they first took their journey according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
14 In the first place went the standard of the camp of the children of Judah according to their armies: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
15 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
16 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
17 And the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set forward, bearing the tabernacle.
18 And the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.
19 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
20 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
21 And the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the other did set up the tabernacle against they came.
22 And the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their armies: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.
23 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
24 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
25 And the standard of the camp of the children of Dan set forward, which was the rereward of all the camps throughout their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
26 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran.
27 And over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
28 Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies, when they set forward.
29 And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.
30 And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.
31 And he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou mayest be to us instead of eyes.
32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
33 And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.
34 And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day, when they went out of the camp.
35 And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.
36 And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.

NUMBERS 11:1-35
1 And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
2 And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
3 And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
7 And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
10 Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11 And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20 But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23 And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
24 And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
25 And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
30 And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34 And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35 And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.

NUMBERS 12:1-16
1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.
5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.
10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.
13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.
14 And the LORD said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.
15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.
16 And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.

PROPHETS PORTION

ZECHARIAH 3:1 - 4:7
1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the LORD stood by.
6 And the angel of the LORD protested unto Joshua, saying,
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
8 Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,
2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:
3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.
4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.

NEW TESTAMENT PORTION

JOHN 19:31-37
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

HEBREWS 3:1-6
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Harlem trial finds Obama guilty-Pastor says incriminating information to be given to authorities May 22, 2010 12:45 am Eastern By Stewart Stogel 2010 WorldNetDaily

James Manning
NEW YORK – The controversial Harlem pastor who led a days-long trial of President Obama says the resulting guilty verdict and corroborating evidence will now be turned over to appropriate authorities, congressional and otherwise. The event was held at Atlah World Missionary Church over the past few days, and its pastor, James Manning, claimed it to be the first legal verdict against Obama since he took office. Focusing on allegations regarding Obama's status as a natural born citizen of the United States as well as the allegedly illegal award of a diploma from Columbia University, Manning insists new legal ground was broken. The activist pastor says that under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, citizens can legally hold a trial and arrive at a verdict, with the results turned over to appropriate government bodies for enforcement. Manning claims the fact that the Secret Service, charged with protecting the president and investigating threats, allowed the trial to take place constitutes evidence it was legitimate.

If the trial did not have legal standing, then why did the federal or city authorities not intervene to halt [the proceeding]? he said.We did not hide the trial, in fact we did our best to promote it. So if the authorities had any problems why did they not act? Not only was there no government interference during or after the trial, Manning boasts the NYPD had officers in the neighborhood to protect the church when the trial was under way. Coincidentally, Obama was less than 4 miles away at a Democratic Party fundraiser in mid-town Manhattan the night before the 5-day trial began May 14. Just four blocks from the church that hosted the Obama trial stands the Harlem office of former President Bill Clinton. Ironically, the conservative Manning heaped praise on the 42nd president: He was (and still is) a friend of the Harlem community. He and Hillary did a lot of good things here and for that we thank them. Now that the Obama trial is over, Manning said, he will pass on the verdict and the evidence presented to the appropriate congressional authorities for their own review.Just like a civilian who witnessed a crime, we will report our findings to Congress. ... Let's see what they do, he said. Regarding Manning's allegation that Obama never actually attended Columbia, the New York times blogged mockingly:When we asked a Columbia spokesman whether the president did in fact attend the school, he replied, We’re not commenting on the Reverend Manning or the trial.Denial or confirmation? You decide.Manning, undeterred, says, The ball is their (Congress') court. The verdict is in, the trial is over. Of course they (Congress) will try and ignore it and hope I will go away. .. but anyone who knows me knows I will not go away.

When You Hear Go Green You Better See Red.Posted by Joan McDaniel on May 21, 2010 at 10:26am On Roth Reveolution website

Greens or environmentalist use slogans like Green Jobs, clean energy ,pollution, use less water,Save electricity, reduce, reuse, recycle for great emotional and political appeal, but what they really want is to seize power and secure the grateful obedience of their followers. What started as some common sense suggestions for conservation, has eroded into changing the American way of life as we know it. They want the return of a forgotten Eden which we have despoiled. They have a sort of primitive, Utopian world view. Greens dream of a non-industrial, anti-capitalism sort of super human world. This is Global Warming, Climate Change, Cap and Trade, tree hugging Al Gore, Go Green, Green Jobs, Pollution control and eugenics all wrapped up together in a simple packaged called GREEN.

What exactly is the Green movement?

The American Green Party movement came from the teachings of the Germany writer Ludoff Baohrol in his 1970 book Socialism and Survival which connected socialism and ecology. What started as conservation to preserve land and forest, is a slow steady growth of activism. Communism has come to America not with the sudden revolution like in Russia, but by a quiet slow steady growth. This growth has taken baby steps at times or major leaps forward at others. Changing its name and make-up with each move. From concern for pollution the EPA was formed in 1970 as a result of Rachel Carson's 1962 book Silent Spring. Her crusade to ban DDT -- which condemned millions of people in Third World countries to death by malaria -- led to the birth of a new movement and finally introduced with Joel Kovel's run in 2000 for President of the United States under the Green Party. It is now the largest independent or third party in the United States.

The Green movement is now a globally observed religion and Mankind has become its evil. It has its own God, Ten Commandments and mission. A type of Political correctness contributed to the growth of this movement a kind of Orwellian newspeak. Political Correctness or Gramsci's Speak was Created in 1914 by the Italian Communist Party creator Antonio Gramsci and here and over time merged with other strategy's to became an enormous influence on today's politics by laying out a strategy for destroying Christianity and Western culture, one that has proven all too successful. Instead of calling for a Communist revolution up front, Gramsci said Marxists in the West should take political power last, after a long march through the institutions – the schools, the media, even the churches, every institution that could influence the culture. Gramsci coined the term Soft Marxism or Cultural Marxism”. Since the 1960's, the Green movement has grown and changed America thinking and future, using this strategy.

Why, one may ask, would environmentalism appeal to socialists? Every action of a human being has some affect on the environment. People must eat, which means someone must use land for farming, people must drink clean water, which means disturbing lakes, rivers, and wetlands, people must breathe which means exhaling the evil greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. By the very act of existence, a person necessarily disturbs his or her environment. The Green's are now using Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) to enact their ideal world Utopia to control every human action and thought , It can make man a criminal just for being alive.

What do the Greens Believe?

1. Earth Worship - Is at the core of green environmentalist movement.

2. Ecosocialism - The fusion of Socialism, population control and the welfare state all rolled into a materialist, worldview.

3) Social justice or civil rights movement or open borders or affirmative action. In other words every one is equal; equal opportunity, equal outcome, equally just.

4) Social or common ownership is the redistribution of income and here , wealth or property from individual to social ownership through progressive taxation and other forms of control policies.

So the next time you hear Go Green you better wake up because someone is coming to take everything you’ve got and then some. They will allow for Off-shore Oil drilling, the construction of nuclear plants -- which do not generate carbon emissions -- is simply a lure to entice gullible Republicans to bite, because what they really want is you out of the way living off the land in a cave or more likely begging for handouts from the new man Gods of Mt. Olympus.

MUSLIM NATIONS

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY)of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

ISAIAH 17:1
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

PSALMS 83:3-7
3 They (ARABS,MUSLIMS) have taken crafty counsel against thy people,(ISRAEL) and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they (MUSLIMS) have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:(TREATIES)
6 The tabernacles of Edom,(JORDAN) and the Ishmaelites;(ARABS) of Moab, PALESTINIANS,JORDAN) and the Hagarenes;(EGYPT)
7 Gebal,(HEZZBALLOH,LEBANON) and Ammon,(JORDAN) and Amalek;(SYRIA,ARABS,SINAI) the Philistines (PALESTINIANS) with the inhabitants of Tyre;(LEBANON)

DANIEL 11:40-43
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south( EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) and the king of the north (RUSSIA AND MUSLIM HORDES OF EZEK 38+39) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

JOEL 2:3,20,30-31
3 A fire(NUCLEAR BOMB) devoureth before them;(RUSSIA-ARABS) and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army,(RUSSIA,MUSLIMS) and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.(SIBERIAN DESERT)
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.(NUCLEAR BOMB)
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

The Global War for Women’s Rights
By Fred Dardick Friday, May 21, 2010 Canada Free Press

Last week Attorney General Eric Holder appeared in hearings on Capitol Hill and, to the consternation of conservatives everywhere, was unable to acknowledge the threat that radical Islam poses to the security of the United States. In what can only be described as political correctness taken to previously unknown heights, Holder, an educated man, feigned ignorance to the struggle this nation has been engaged in since the 9/11 terrorist attacks perpetrated by radical Islamists. Rep. Lamar Smith asked Holder six times in a row if the U.S. faced any danger from radical Islam and the best Holder could do was, There are a variety of reasons why people do things.

Apparently a man shouting Allahu Akbar while gunning down his fellow soldiers is due to a variety of reasons. Who knew? It’s not like the struggle between Islamic and Judeo-Christian nations hasn’t been going on for like, hundreds of years.I guess they don’t teach the kids at Harvard about the Crusades, Ottoman Empire, or worldwide spread of radical Wahhabism in the 20th century. Muslims burn our flags, call for our death, and glorify the murder of nonbelievers, all in the name of Allah.

Islamic sermons are filled with genocidal hatred and millions pray for a second Holocaust.Conflict between our cultures has been going on practically since the day the Qur’an was written. The connection between radical Islam and attacks against our nation is obvious, and yet Holder and liberals like him … just … won’t … say … it.
The historical, cultural, and religious context to the struggle we face now may not factor into the liberal elite’s thinking, but there is something they do care about, quite a lot - the role of women in society. In the past month, Obama administration officials have taken to referring to what was once known as the Global War on Terror under George W. Bush and Overseas Contingency Operation only last year, as Countering Violent Extremism. However, in an effort to get more Democrats into the good fight, which will no doubt last decades, if not longer, I have a better name for the conflict that even a liberal can understand: The Global War for Women’s Rights.Women have few, if any rights in Islamic society. Brutality against women including genital mutilation, murder of rape victims, denial of education and property rights, marriage to 50-year-old men at age 12, and honor killings, which has even reached our shores in recent years, is commonplace.Even supposedly progressive Saudi Arabia is a time portal back to the Middle Ages - women are lashed for moral offences like holding a man’s hand or not covering their hair. They aren’t even allowed to drive a car.

Women may be allowed to go to college in Saudi Arabia, but good luck trying to find a job … only 5% of the workforce is female. The term gender apartheid has been coined to describe the widespread denial of human rights to women throughout the Islamic world. How can liberals remain silent in the face of such inequity?
Regime change in Iraq, regardless of whether or not you supported the war, was a seminal event in human history. For the first time a democratic country in the Middle East, other than Israel, was established that guaranteed equal rights for women.George Bush understood the Iraq War offered more than just an opportunity to remove a dangerous dictator from power, he also saw it as potential launching ground for the spread of democracy and freedom throughout the Middle East, of which women would be primary benefactors.

Unfortunately, things aren’t quite working out as expected.

The new Constitution adapted by the Iraqis states: No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam. In practice this means religious leaders are free to use Sharia Law to deny women their rights.

Millions of women are losing their freedom because of Islam
Once again millions of women are losing their freedom because of Islam. Prominent Iraqi feminist Yanar Mohammed was recently quoted as saying the US has let go of women’s rights in Iraq, and she is correct.Unfortunately the Obama administration shows no interest in righting this wrong. President Obama jets around the globe telling everyone what a great religion Islam is, but he never mentions that countries ruled by Sharia law, over half the population live as second class citizens. In his Cairo address Obama whitewashed the plight of Islamic women by saying we have seen Muslim-majority countries elect a woman to lead including Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia. What he didn’t mention is that Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia are secular nations in which a woman’s rights are guaranteed by the government … and definitely not because of Islam, but rather in spite of it.Obama went on to say America and Islam … share common principles - principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.I highly doubt American women would agree with that statement if they were forced to live under Sharia Law.

The Good Fight
The Global War for Women’s Rights isn’t going to be won by Obama bowing to dictators, but with the military might and the righteous power of the American people. As usual, only we can free millions of Muslim women around the world from this plight. Because if we don’t, who will? If not now, when? Like the communist menace before it, America must confront radical Islam and its mechanism for the enslavement of women, Sharia Law, wherever it appears. It must be labeled and treated for what it truly is: evil.Only an uncompromising effort, lasting decades if need be, by all Americans including liberals, will lead to lasting freedom for Muslim women.

IF ITS A MUSLIM COUNTRY RUSSIA YOU BET WILL SUPPLY WEAPONS OR NUKES TO GO AGAINST ISRAEL AND THE WEST.THE STAGE IS BEING SET FOR WW3 AND RUSSIA MUSLIMS 5/6TH DEFEAT.LIKE SOETORO-OBAMA,THERES NO MUSLIM(COUNTRY)HE OR RUSSIA WILL NOT SUBMIT TO.

Russia to help Bangladesh set up nuclear power plants
MAY 22,10

DHAKA (Reuters) – Bangladesh said on Saturday Russia had formally agreed to assist the energy-starved South Asian country in building nuclear power plants. An agreement on cooperation for the peaceful use of nuclear energy to meet the growing power demand in the country was signed between the two countries in Moscow on Friday, a foreign ministry spokesman told Reuters.Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov witnessed the signing of the agreement between Russia's atomic energy corporation Rosatom and the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (AEC).Bangladesh had requested the Russian authorities to assist in establishing two nuclear reactors with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts each by 2015, the spokesman said. The plants are expected to cost up to $2 billion and to begin generating electricity by 2014, officials of the ministry of power, energy and mineral resources said.Bangladesh has plans to set up the nuclear power plants at Rooppur, 200 km (125 miles) northwest of the capital Dhaka, to help deal with growing power shortages.Growing concern over power shortages led Bangladesh to consider nuclear energy as natural gas reserves are fast depleting and most coalfields remain unexploited.Bangladesh now has nearly 60 power plants, mostly decades old and all fueled by gas or coal.

A power official said the country of 150 million experiences daily power shortfalls of 2,000 megawatts. Peak-hour demand stands at about 5,500 megawatts.According to the agreement Rosatom will help Bangladesh AEC in designing, construction and operation of nuclear power and research reactors. It will also supply nuclear fuel, take back spent nuclear fuel, manage nuclear waste, and train personnel for operation and maintenance of the plant.(Reporting by Nizam Ahmed; Editing by Jerry Norton)

INVASION USA 17 more states planning Ariz. illegal crackdown-But ICE chief says feds might not process illegals arrested by state Posted: May 21, 2010
9:00 pm Eastern By Bob Unruh 2010 WorldNetDaily

In what is developing into a standoff between states and the federal government that could be bigger than gun control or even health care, 17 states have launched versions of Arizona's immigration law, even as federal officials say they may not bother to process illegal aliens caught by the states. William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, which has been trying to get officials to address the open southern border for years, warned the consequences could be dire.

Over the last couple days, Obama and the chief of ICE have refused to honor their oaths of office,he said.Their constitutional requirement is to enforce existing laws. They've told the American public to go eat cake, he said. Tell Washington what you think about immigration by sending every member of the Senate The No Amnesty Pledge. His organization is assembling the list of state efforts to emulate the Arizona law, which makes it illegal under state as well as federal law to be in the state without documentation. Seventeen states are now filing versions of Arizona's SB 1070, which is designed to help local police enforce America's existing immigration laws, ALIPAC said in a report today. The report said numerous national and local polls indicate 60 to 81 percent of Americans support local police enforcing immigration laws. Our national network of activists have been working overtime trying to help the state of Arizona and the brave Arizonans who have passed this bill, he said.Arizona no longer stands alone and we have now documented state lawmakers filing, or announcing they will file, versions of the Arizona bill in seventeen states! We will not stop until all states are protected from invasion as required by the U.S. Constitution.Gheen said the states where some form of immigration crackdown is under development include Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas and Utah.

President Obama several times has said he doesn't like the Arizona law. He's called it misguided and ordered a review by the Justice Department. John Morton, who heads the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, said his agency might not process illegal aliens caught under state jurisdiction, the Chicago Tribune reported. He insisted that only the federal government should respond to the problem.
I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution,Morton said. One blogger expressed concern that a senior Homeland Security official has openly declared that he won't be doing his job.Morton has sworn an oath to uphold the laws of the United States. He is not allowed to pick and choose which ones he likes and which he doesn't.Gheen said the Arizona law and the plans it has spawned in other states is a victory for Americans. But he said those are just battles, and winning the war will require success in elections this fall. A comprehensive solution to the problem will arrive when there are enough hostile members of Congress to tell the administration to uphold the existing immigration and border laws or the impeachments will start, he said. [We need to send] to Washington a hostile Congress that is going to encircle the executive branch and tell them to [follow the law] or we'll impeach all the way down to the speaker of the House,he said. Gheen said he is alarmed over the pending release, expected sometime just before the election, of a movie called Machete, which reportedly is the story of a Mexican uprising in the United States.Gheen said the message in the movie reportedly is that Americans will either submit to the rape of their land or else.

He said he believes the project is intended to create turmoil just as the mid-term elections draw near. There is nothing as important right now as getting [people] fully involved with all the campaigns, he said. ALIPAC already has helped to pass some form of immigration enforcement legislation in more than 30 states. And Gheen has developed a national reputation for defeating socially progressive plans to hand out licenses, in-state tuition and other taxpayer benefits to illegal aliens. It is incumbent upon our states to protect American lives, property, jobs, wages, security, and health, when the executive branch fails to honor its constitutional responsibility to do so by enforcing our existing border and immigration laws, he said. The Arizona law, which strictly prohibits racial profiling, empowers local police to enforce immigration laws. To monitor the growing number of states considering similar legislation, ALIPAC utilizes a public forum in which members can update the organization with news articles and other information from states where the push for an Arizona-like law is making headway. In Arizona's neighboring state Utah, for example, Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, R-Orem, reportedly is drafting a bill that would similarly require immigrants to carry proof of status and require law enforcement officers to check for it.Utah is seen as state that welcomes illegal immigrants. We almost encourage it with driving privilege cards and in-state tuition for illegals,Sandstrom told the Salt Lake Tribune. With Arizona making the first step in this direction, Utah needs to pass a similar law or we will see a huge influx of illegals. The real issue is just establishing a rule of law in our state.Across the country in Maryland, Baltimore's WBAL-TV reported earlier that State Delegate Patrick McDonough, R-Baltimore County, is drafting a bill identical to Arizona's. He's also planning to poll his fellow legislators before the bill is filed.

Merkel and Cameron disagree on EU treaty change-Angela Merkel received David Cameron in Berlin (Photo: Valentina Pop)VALENTINA POP 21.05.2010 @ 18:27 CET

EUOBSERVER / BERLIN – UK Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday (21 May) rejected the the idea of a new EU treaty change to accommodate German chancellor Angela Merkel's vision of stronger economic co-ordination in the EU.There is no question of agreeing to a treaty that transfers powers from Westminster to Brussels. Britain is obviously not in the eurozone and is not going to be joining, so it wouldn't agree to any treaty that drew us further into the euro area, Mr Cameron said on Friday (21 May) during a joint press conference with Ms Merkel in Berlin. The German leader for her part insisted that any treaty change would not mean giving more powers to Brussels.A treaty change would require a referendum in Britain and is likely to result in a No vote.Mr Cameron insisted, however, that new government in London wanted Britain to be a positive player in Europe and had every interest in the eurozone being stable. While stressing the need to enhance the stability culture of the euro-countries, Ms Merkel did not rule out a treaty change, but said this would have to be agreed at a later point in time.Germany tabled some ideas where a treaty change plays a certain role, but let me tell you we're at the beginning, it's very early days as regards to the working group [a taskforce led by EU council president Herman Van Rompuy] and there is no agreement yet in the group about what needs to be done, she said.

Berlin's insistence on a treaty change stems from its legal tradition and potential constitutional challenges to measures taken outside the EU treaty, such as the rescue package for the eurozone, which the Bundestag passed on Friday. But the British premier said that such a treaty change would require unanimity of all 27 EU states, not just the 16 countries in the euro area, in which case the UK would make use of its veto right. The two leaders did agree on the need to curb deficits across the EU, while Ms Merkel stressed the positive role the UK can play in improving the image of the EU as a prosperous area, not one of stagnation and economic slump. In Germany's view, sustainable economic growth, innovation and research are the way forward and here it sees a role for the so-called economic governance which the French government is pushing for the euro area. But Berlin believes that economic policy co-ordination should take place among all 27 EU member states, otherwise the eurozone would become too inward looking and would exclude countries such as Sweden and Poland. Also, there is no Eurogroup parliament, as opposed to the EU legislature which is elected from all 27 member states, the Germans point out.

Van Rompuy taskforce agrees need for budgetary sanctions
ANDREW WILLIS 21.05.2010 @ 21:05 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and EU finance ministers kicked off negotiations on greater economic co-ordination on Friday (21 May), with participants agreeing the taskforce should concentrate on four main objectives. While all members stressed the preliminary nature of the talks, agreement was reached on the need for tougher penalties for states that repeatedly break the EU's budgetary rules, known as the Stability and Growth Pact. There was a broad consensus on the principles of having sanctions, financial sanctions and non-financial sanctions, said Mr Van Rompuy who chaired the meeting.A European Commission ideas paper presented last week discussed the option of withholding EU funding for budgetary laggards, while a German proposal for Friday's meeting suggested repeat offenders should have their voting rights in the council of ministers suspended.

Together with the need for a sharpening of budgetary discipline, participants agreed measures should be implemented to reduce divergences in national competitiveness levels, said Mr Van Rompuy. The body's final recommendations, due in October, will also look at the establishment of a permanent crisis mechanism to help states struggling with their public finances, together with measures to strengthen economic governance, needed in order to be able to act quicker in a more co-ordinated and more efficient manner. Our final agreement should result in a stronger economic cohesion within the union. This is vital for 27 countries with a common internal market and for a zone of 16 countries sharing a single currency, Mr Van Rompuy told journalists after the meeting. One proposal which has been attributed to the European Council president, the transfer of some national member state debts to a common community debt, appeared to receive little support from finance ministers.

A German proposal for orderly state insolvencies also does not appear to have gained much support, despite the fact that the question of debt restructuring is uppermost in the minds of many investors, in particular holders of Greek bonds.

To change, or not to change the EU treaties

The need for an EU treaty chance to bring about the measures for greater economic co-ordination in Europe have been prominent in the debate this week. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is strongly in favour of the idea, concerned that any new measures could be in breach of the German constitution and result in legal challenges. France has pushed for quick action however, arguing that time is short. Both sides played down the rift on Friday, saying nothing was being ruled in or out at this stage. We all agreed on a proposal made by Madame Lagarde ...that we will discuss actions in the current framework and we will discuss measures that may also need a treaty change, said German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble. The next meeting of the taskforce, which includes ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet and EU economy commissioner Olli Rehn, will be on the 7 June. Mr Schaeuble denied that Germany had gained the upper hand in the negotiations by presenting a nine-point plan at the meeting listing German desires. Describing his proposal as a contribution, the minister said Germany was very interested in others as well.French finance minister Christine Lagarde also softened her tone, brushing off questions about Germany's decision this week to ban certain financial practices such as naked short selling, a move that drew criticism due to its unilateral nature.A brief discussion between the finance ministers on the topic is understood to have taken place, together with an update on the current state of play for a €440 Special Purpose Vehicle which will make up part of the eurozone's recently agreed stabilisation mechanism.

India cyclone weakens, death toll at 26
Fri May 21, 2:51 am ET

HYDERABAD (AFP) – Cyclone Laila weakened Friday after battering India's southeastern coast with several days of torrential rain and high winds that claimed 26 lives, officials said. The storm, which formed over the Bay of Bengal, drenched the southern state of Tamil Nadu before making landfall further north Thursday in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, where it uprooted trees, electricity poles and destroyed communication lines.Andhra Pradesh disaster management commissioner T. Radha said more than 70,000 people evacuated ahead of the storm had been told to stay in shelters until Friday evening.Radha told AFP that at least 17 people had died in storm-related accidents across the state.Television footage showed cars smashed by fallen trees, huts missing their thatched roofs, people clearing debris left by the wind and rains, flooded roads and marooned villages. The heavy rains and strong winds damaged mango, banana and lime crops, with conservative estimates putting the losses at two billion rupees (41 million dollars.)In Tamil Nadu where the storm was blamed for nine deaths, officials said life had begun to return to normal as flood waters in low-lying areas receded.Cyclone Laila was still hovering off the Andhra Pradesh coast Friday, but its force had weakened with wind speeds down to 75 kilometres an hour, compared to 125kmh at its peak.We think it will weaken further and move in a northerly direction. But there will be more rains, said V. Prasad Rao, director of the cyclone warning centre in Visakhapatnam city.Another weather office advisory warned fishermen to stay ashore due to rough sea conditions and predicted widespread rains for Orissa state, north of Andhra Pradesh.India and Bangladesh are hit regularly by cyclones that develop in the Bay of Bengal between April and November, causing widespread damage to homes and fields.Last May, Cyclone Aila tore through southern Bangladesh killing 300 people and destroyed 4,000 kilometres of roads and river embankments, leading to major flooding. About 200,000 people were made homeless and many remain in temporary shelters.

Alfalfa sprouts recalled after at least 22 ill By MARY CLARE JALONICK, Associated Press Writer – Fri May 21, 10:39 pm ET

WASHINGTON – Salmonella found in raw alfalfa sprouts appears to have sickened at least 22 people in 10 states, including a baby in Oregon, prompting a nationwide recall of the product.Caldwell Fresh Foods of Maywood, Calif., announced the recall Friday. According to the Oregon Department of Human Services, which also announced the recall Friday, Caldwell's alfalfa product was sold in 18 states in the West, Midwest and South.According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 11 people were sickened in California, two were sickened in Nevada and two were sickened in Wisconsin. Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, New Mexico and Colorado each had one person become ill, the CDC said. The illnesses began between March 1 and May 2 and six people were hospitalized.A representative for Caldwell did not return a call Friday and a release issued by the company did not list the states to which the company sold the alfalfa sprouts. The company's release did say the alfalfa sprouts were sold at restaurants, delicatessens and retailers nationwide, including many in California. Those California stores include Wal-Mart, Trader Joe's, Kings Supermarket, Numero Uno, Cardenas Markets, Gonzales Northgate Markets, Jons Marketplace and Canton Foods, the company said.Oregon officials said the sprouts may have gone to more than 400 stores, including Wal-Marts in several states. Wal-Mart did not respond to a request for comment.

The company said the recalled alfalfa sprouts were sold in plastic cups and plastic bags under the Caldwell Fresh Foods brand, plastic cups under the Nature's Choice brand and plastic containers under the California Fresh Exotics brand.William E. Keene, a senior epidemiologist at the Oregon health department, said Caldwell Fresh Foods is cooperating with an investigation.Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weakened immune systems. It can cause diarrhea, fever and vomiting.Keene said the baby who was sickened was a 4-month-old boy who was fed alfalfa sprouts mixed with other foods. His sickness made the cause of the outbreak easier to identify, Keene said, because the infant had not yet eaten many foods. He was hospitalized but has now recovered.Oregon health officials said this is the 12th outbreak in sprouts that has sickened people in the state since 1995. Keene went as far as to warn against eating raw sprouts at all, saying anyone concerned with foodborne illness should be aware of the number of outbreaks.Alfalfa sprouts are grown in a moist environment, heightening the chances of bacterial growth. The Food and Drug Administration and the CDC recommend at all times that people with a high risk of complications, such as the elderly, children and those with weakened immune systems, not eat raw sprouts because of the risk of contamination with salmonella. This is the second large multistate outbreak in fresh produce announced this month. The CDC said Friday that they have identified additional people sickened by an outbreak of E. coli in romaine lettuce, bringing the total to 26 people sickened in Michigan, New York, Ohio, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. Seven additional cases are suspected, the CDC said.Online:

WASHINGTON – Days after the Gulf Coast oil spill, the Obama administration pledged to keep its boot on the throat of BP to make sure the company did all it could to cap the gushing leak and clean up the spill. But a month after the April 20 explosion, anger is growing about why BP PLC is still in charge of the response.I'm tired of being nice. I'm tired of working as a team, said Billy Nungesser, president of Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana. The government should have stepped in and not just taken BP's word, declared Wayne Stone of Marathon, Fla., an avid diver who worries about the spill's effect on the ecosystem. That sense of frustration is shared by an increasing number of Gulf Coast residents, elected officials and environmental groups who have called for the government to simply take over.In fact, the government is overseeing things. But the official responsible for that says he still understands the discontent. If anybody is frustrated with this response, I would tell them their symptoms are normal, because I'm frustrated, too, said Coast Guard Commandant Thad Allen.Nobody likes to have a feeling that you can't do something about a very big problem, Allen told The Associated Press Friday.Still, as simple as it may seem for the government to just take over, the law prevents it, Allen said. After the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska, Congress dictated that oil companies be responsible for dealing with major accidents — including paying for all cleanup — with oversight by federal agencies. Spills on land are overseen by the Environmental Protection Agency, offshore spills by the Coast Guard. The basic notion is you hold the responsible party accountable, with regime oversight from the government, Allen said. BP has not been relieved of that responsibility, nor have they been relieved for penalties or for oversight. He and Coast Guard Adm. Mary Landry, the federal onsite coordinator, direct virtually everything BP does in response to the spill — and with a few exceptions have received full cooperation, Allen said.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was even more emphatic. There's nothing that we think can and should be done that isn't being done. Nothing, Gibbs said Friday during a lengthy, often testy exchange with reporters about the response to the oil disaster. There are no powers of intervention that the federal government has available but has opted not to use, Gibbs said.Asked if President Barack Obama had confidence in BP, Gibbs said only: We are continuing to push BP to do everything that they can.The White House is expected to announce Saturday that former Florida Sen. Bob Graham and ex-EPA Administrator William K. Reilly will lead a presidential commission investigating the oil spill. Graham is a Democrat. Reilly served as EPA administrator under President George H.W. Bush. The commission's inquiry will range from the causes of the spill to the safety of offshore oil drilling.BP spokesman Neil Chapman said the federal government has been an integral part of the response to the oil spill since shortly after the April 20 explosion. There are many federal agencies here in the Unified Command, and they've been part of that within days of the incident, said Chapman, who works out of a joint response site in Louisiana, near the site of the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig. Criticism of the cleanup response has spread beyond BP. On Friday, the Texas lab contracted to test samples of water contaminated by the spill defended itself against complaints that it has a conflict of interest because it does other work for BP. TDI-Brooks International Inc., which points to its staffers' experience handling samples from the Exxon Valdez disaster, said the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helped audit the lab and approved its methods. A typical state laboratory does not have this experience or capacity, TDI president James M. Brooks said.

The company's client list includes federal and state agencies along with dozens of oil companies, among them BP, a connection first reported by The New York Times. TDI-Brooks said about half of the lab's revenue comes from government work. Test results on Deepwater Horizon samples will figure prominently in lawsuits and other judgments seeking to put a dollar value on the damage caused by the spill. Deputy Interior Secretary David Hayes, who traveled to the Gulf the day after the explosion and has coordinated Interior's response to the spill, rejected the notion that BP is telling the federal government what to do.They are lashed in, Hayes said of BP.They need approval for everything they do.If BP is lashed to the government, the tether goes both ways. A large part of what the government knows about the oil spill comes from BP. The oil company helps staff the command center in Robert, La., which publishes daily reports on efforts to contain, disperse and skim oil. Some of the information flowing into the command center comes from undersea robots run by BP or ships ultimately being paid by BP. When the center reported Friday that nearly 9 million gallons of an oil-water mixture had been skimmed from the ocean surface, those statistics came from barges and other vessels funded by BP. Allen, the incident commander, said the main problem for federal responders is the unique nature of the spill — 5,000 feet below the surface with no human access. This is really closer to Apollo 13 than Exxon Valdez,he said, referring to a near-disastrous Moon mission 40 years ago.Access to this well-site is through technology that is owned in the private sector,Allen said, referring to remotely operated vehicles and sensors owned by BP.

Even so, the company has largely done what officials have asked, Allen said. Most recently, it responded to an EPA directive to find a less toxic chemical dispersant to break up the oil underwater. In two instances — finding samples from the bottom of the ocean to test dispersants and distributing booms to block the oil — BP did not respond as quickly as officials had hoped, Allen said. In both cases they ultimately complied.Personally, whenever I have problem I call (BP CEO) Tony Hayward on his cell phone, Allen said.Associated Press writers Frederic J. Frommer and Ben Feller in Washington, Janet McConnaughey in New Orleans, Matt Sedensky in Marathon, Fla., Ray Henry in Atlanta and Holbrook Mohr in Jackson, Miss., and Michelle Roberts in San Antonio contributed to this story.

Church warns cell scientists not to play God By ALESSANDRA RIZZO, Associated Press Writer – Fri May 21, 3:40 pm ET

ROME – Catholic Church officials said Friday that the recently created first synthetic cell could be a positive development if correctly used, but warned scientists that only God can create life.Vatican and Italian church officials were mostly cautious in their first reaction to the announcement from the United States that researchers had produced a living cell containing manmade DNA. They warned scientists of the ethical responsibility of scientific progress and said that the manner in which the innovation is applied in the future will be crucial. It's a great scientific discovery. Now we have to understand how it will be implemented in the future, Monsignor Rino Fisichella, the Vatican's top bioethics official, told Associated Press Television News.If we ascertain that it is for the good of all, of the environment and man in it, we'll keep the same judgment, he said. If, on the other hand, the use of this discovery should turn against the dignity of and respect for human life, then our judgment would change.Fisichella, who heads Vatican's Pontifical Academy for Life, stressed there is no necessary clash between science and faith. We look at science with great interest. But we think above all about the meaning that must be given to life, Fisichella told state-run RAI television. We can only reach the conclusion that we need God, the origin of life.Catholic Church teaching holds that human life is God's gift, created through natural procreation between a man and woman. The Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, called the synthetic cell an interesting result but stressed that it must have rules, like all the things that touch on the heart of life. The paper said genetic engineering can do good but acts on a very fragile terrain.

It's all about combining courage with caution,it said. The inventors said the world's first synthetic cell is more a re-creation of existing life — changing one simple type of bacterium into another — than a built-from-scratch kind. But genome-mapping pioneer J. Craig Venter said his team's project paves the way for designing organisms that work differently from the way nature intended for a wide range of uses.A top Italian cardinal, Angelo Bagnasco, said the invention is further sign of intelligence, God's gift to understand creation and be able to better govern it, according to Apcom and ANSA news agencies. On the other hand, intelligence can never be without responsibility, said Bagnasco, the head of the Italian bishops' conference.Any form of intelligence and any scientific acquisition ... must always be measured against the ethical dimension, which has at its heart the true dignity of every person.Another official with the Italian bishops' conference, Bishop Domenico Mogavero, expressed concern that scientists might be tempted to play God.

Pretending to be God and parroting his power of creation is an enormous risk that can plunge men into a barbarity, Mogavero told newspaper La Stampa in an interview. Scientists should never forget that there is only one creator: God.In the wrong hands, today's development can lead tomorrow to a devastating leap in the dark, said Mogavero, who heads the conference's legal affairs department.

Jews in Arab east Jerusalem defy Obama peace push By TIA GOLDENBERG, Associated Press Writer – Fri May 21, 1:46 am ET

JERUSALEM – When Devorah Adler's children go to school, they pass underneath the gun-toting security officer who stands on their roof 24-hours a day, walk down a path dotted by surveillance cameras and get in a van manned by another armed guard.Adler is one of 2,000 Jews who reside in predominantly Arab neighborhoods in the heart of east Jerusalem, part of a movement that aims to ensure Israel's hold on the sector, which Palestinians seek as the capital of a future state.Revved up by the Obama administration's latest attempts to limit Jewish encroachment in disputed areas of the holy city, they are working furiously to cement and expand their presence.Adler believes her neighborhood, which Palestinians call Silwan and Jews call the City of David, was where the biblical King David once walked and is the heart of Israel's historic capital. She is willing to brave the occasional rock-throwing and rioting that erupt in the sector — sometimes sparked by Jewish expansion moves — to remain in the place she believes is so tied to Jewish history. When it's something that you really believe in, it's something that you're willing to endure certain difficulties for, said Adler, a mother of six.Nearly 200,000 Jews have moved to east Jerusalem since Israel captured the city in 1967, the vast majority living in Jewish neighborhoods built since that time. Those areas are widely expected to remain part of Israel in any future peace deal, but that does not apply to the Arab neighborhoods where Adler and other Jews have moved in, which Israel would have to cede to the Palestinians for peace.

Jerusalem is the most explosive issue separating Israelis and Palestinians. Israel's government rules out relinquishing sovereignty in any part of the city, and Jewish expansion in east Jerusalem was at the center of a recent diplomatic row between the Obama administration and Israel's hawkish government. Palestinians demand a total halt to Jewish construction in both east Jerusalem and the West Bank, areas they claim for a future state. Both the settlers and their critics agree on the ultimate goal of their presence here. The main objective is to prevent a two-state solution and to prevent the possibility that these areas will become the capital of a Palestinian state, said Hagit Ofran of the Israeli anti-settlement watchdog Peace Now.Palestinian government spokesman Ghassan Khatib called these residents the most dangerous factor preventing an agreement with Israel. But plans are underway to strengthen their presence. At a complex in the neighborhood of Ras al-Amud now housing 50 Jewish families, a sign boasts of 60 new units to be complete by the end of the year.Last week, Peace Now reported dozens of new houses for Jews in Arab east Jerusalem: 20 units in one neighborhood, 24 in another and renovations having started to turn an old police station in Ras al-Amud into a 14-unit apartment building. If you look at 2009 and 2010, you understand what the trend is here. The trend is massive expansion, said Arieh King, who runs a group that buys land for Jews in east Jerusalem and other areas. He said his organization's goal is to create Jewish continuity from Jerusalem to settlements in the West Bank, making it harder to eventually disconnect the two.

Israel annexed east Jerusalem immediately after capturing it from Jordan during the 1967 Middle East war, a move the international community does not recognize. The Jews living in Arab neighborhoods are there in keeping with Israeli law, often in houses purchased from Arab residents directly or through organizations that buy land for Jewish settlement. To the Palestinians, however, it's pure provocation. The neighborhoods are prone to conflict. Riots broke out in March as Palestinians, angered by plans for more Jewish housing in east Jerusalem, hurled rocks and set tires ablaze.Signs of Jewish entrenchment in these neighborhoods are everywhere, beginning with the security equipment and personnel the Israelis bring with them. Israeli police are on constant patrol. Israeli flags fly from several rooftops. Thick metal grates protect the windows of Jewish homes and visitors with no invitation are turned away by security guards.Palestinian residents are bitter because they say they feel they are being pushed off their land. It's not enough that they have west Jerusalem, they need the whole city, said Musa Alawi, an Arab resident of east Jerusalem who owns a falafel shop across the street from the Jewish housing in Ras al-Amud. Neighborly relations between Arabs and Jews are nearly nonexistent. In the neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber, Palestinian homes overlook a giant 91-unit apartment block for Jews. The only contact between the residents is when Jews stop at the local shop to buy milk. We don't spend time together. We don't hang out together. I personally support that separation, said Uri Dopelt, an Israeli who has lived in these Arab neighborhoods for the last decade. In another neighborhood, Sheikh Jarrah, Israeli police acting on a court order evicted Palestinian families and allowed Jewish settlers to move into their homes, which had been owned by Jews before Israel's independence in 1948. Palestinians cannot similarly reclaim lost property in the city's western sector. Another flashpoint is a seven-story building in Silwan built by an ultranationalist settler group in 2004. The imposing structure houses eight families who live there under 24-hour government guard. While the government vows never to give up east Jerusalem, the Jews who have moved into the Arab districts mistrust its resolve. The government is feeling American pressure, said Dopelt.People like us in these neighborhoods are the last line in protecting what is ours.

Hundreds flock to Nigeria in search of food
Fri May 21, 4:08 pm ET

KANO, Nigeria (AFP) – Hundreds of Niger nationals, mostly women and children, have flooded into neighbouring Nigeria in search of food, officials and residents said on Friday. We are aware of the recent influx of people from Niger into some parts of (southern) Katsina State, Sani Makana, the state agriculture commissioner told AFP by phone from the state capital Katsina. The number of of Niger nationals in northern Katsina state, which shares a land border with Nigeria, has soared in the past two months, residents said.Makana said some were so desperate they had been forced to beg door-to-door.It is a pathetic sight. They just have nothing to live on and have to beg to eat, said Katsina resident, Abubakar Shehu. When you ask them why they came here they tell you that they were starving in Niger... and would die if they stayed, Shehu said.According to the United Nations around 7.8 million Nigeriens are in need of food, out of the around 10 million affected by a crisis in the Sahel region.

Many Niger men in Nigeria have turned their hand to selling water in order to eke out a living.Vendors pushing two-wheeler carts laden with 25-litre (five-gallon) jerry cans have become a common sight in Katsina city, said resident Ibrahim Salihu.
A Nigerian immigration officer, who asked to remain anonymous, said there was little his officials could do to stop the influx. There is very little we can do... due to the porous nature of the over 1,000 kilometre (63 mile) border stretch, he said.In anticipation of the influx, Katsina authorities have stockpiled grains for distribution, Makana said.Niger's transitional government at the weekend announced the launch of a food distribution operation for nearly 1.5 million people facing severe shortages.West African ministers also met on Wednesday in the Togolese capital of Lome to discuss the crisis, an official statement said.

New Nile agreement a wake-up call for Egypt: analysts by Christophe de Roquefeuil – Fri May 21, 5:25 am ET

CAIRO (AFP) – A new agreement by five African states on Nile water sharing has been a wake-up call for Egypt, which has long considered the river its own, analysts say.

Until now, Cairo had distanced itself from any discussion that would change the favourable terms of treaties signed in 1929 and 1959, guaranteeing the lion's share of Nile waters to Egypt. The new agreement by Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda -- that is more favourable to their interests -- is considered a death sentence for Egypt, which is now trying to engage in discussions to ensure it is not left out of a process that is vital to its future.Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi stressed on Thursday that his country did not intend to back down from the new agreement over water sharing, and invited Egypt to make concessions. Some people in Egypt have old-fashioned ideas based on the assumption that the Nile water belongs to Egypt, Zenawi recently told Al-Jazeera television. The circumstances have changed and changed forever, he said, adding that the way forward is not for Egypt to try to stop the unstoppable. The way forward is to seek a win-win solution through diplomatic efforts.Egypt's 80 million inhabitants draw about 90 percent of their water needs from the Nile. Cairo maintains that, even by the favourable terms of current agreements, its water needs cannot be met by the Nile alone after 2017.

The announcement (of the new agreement) is considered by the majority of Egyptians as a death sentence to a nation that has long been described as the gift of the Nile, the University of Cairo's Nader Noureddine wrote in the Al-Ahram weekly on Thursday.Initially, after the new agreement by the five African states, Egypt launched an urgent diplomatic offensive, hardening its alliance over the issue with Sudan, another recipient of Nile largesse under existing treaties.Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak raised the subject in Rome on Wednesday, while the Egyptian press denounced Italian companies involved in Nile water projects, particularly in Ethiopia.Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi reassured Mubarak, saying: We pledged... to undertake diplomatic moves towards certain countries, starting with Ethiopia, with whom there are still outstanding problems, primarily with regard to the use of Nile waters.Always active on the diplomatic front, Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected in Cairo on Saturday, and Egyptian delegations are awaited in Ethiopia and Uganda. The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Joseph Kabila, and Burundi's Pierre Nkurunziza, two countries of the Nile basin which have stayed out of the face-off with Egypt, are also expected in Cairo over the coming weeks.A new text is intended to reconsider the two treaties of 1929 and 1959, which grant the rights to 55.5 billion cubic metres (two trillion cubic feet) of Nile waters to Egypt, and 18.5 billion cubic metres to Sudan, on the whole accounting for 87 percent of the Nile's water flow. The 1929 treaty granted Egypt veto power on projects upstream -- dams, pumping stations, large irrigation works -- which could reduce the river flow.At home, there is also pressure on the Egyptian leadership, which is accused of neglecting its African partners for too long. What is occurring at present is the result of Egypt abandoning its role in Africa, said political economist Amr el-Chobaki.During the past 40 years, the government thought that it was enough to maintain a relationship with the North, and that it was unnecessary to remain engaged in the countries of the South, he added. Nabil Abdel Fatah of the Al-Ahram Centre for Strategic Studies echoed the point. We owe better understanding to our partners, and to remember that we are also Africans, not only Egyptians or Arabs,he said.

Canada plans new emission rules for heavy trucksBy Allan Dowd – Fri May 21, 3:53 pm ET

VANCOUVER (Reuters) – Canada is on schedule for developing new emissions standards for heavy trucks, although the draft regulations will not be ready until later this year, the environment minister said on Friday.Canada and the United States both unveiled plans on Friday to set efficiency targets for heavy-duty vehicles ranging from large-sized pickup trucks to tractor trailers used in long-distance hauling.

Ottawa expects to release draft regulations this fall that will spell out the requirements for heavy-duty vehicles and engines, starting between the 2014 and 2018 model years, Environment Minister Jim Prentice told reporters.Officials said in April that Ottawa expected to release details of the proposed rules in late spring, but Prentice said the government was still on schedule with its plans to reduce vehicle emissions. These are complicated regulations, Prentice told reporters, adding later that they dealt with heavy-duty vehicles that are at the very heart of our economy.Big trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles accounted for 6 percent of Canada's greenhouse gas emissions, Prentice said.He added that while the Canadian and U.S. rules would be harmonized they would not be identical, reflecting national differences, such the fact that Canadian transport trucks usually carry heavier loads.Environmentalists have accused Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative government of lagging other countries in developing programs to fight climate change.

Again, it's just rubber-stamping what the Americans are doing., said John Bennett, executive director of the Sierra Club of Canada, adding that the rules were something Ottawa could have pursued two or three years ago.The Canadian Trucking Alliance said any new rules must reflect the impact on fuel efficiency caused by the differences in terrain and cargo that truckers across North America face. The alliance also wants the federal governments to address sometimes conflicting provincial and state rules on equipment that could increase fuel efficiency. We interpret today's announcement as opening the door for a meaningful dialogue on how we can move forward on this issue, the trucking group said.

WHITE HOUSE AND A TIRE STORE

There was a major style difference in how the two countries made their co-ordinated announcements on Friday.President Barack Obama made the U.S. announcement at the White House with representatives of the major truck and auto companies watching. Prentice made Canada's announcement to reporters in front of a tire display at an autoparts store in Vancouver.Prentice said that while efforts to develop continental emission standards for North America now involved only Canada and United States, both counties expect Mexico to eventually become involved.I think it is fair to say that we are further along in working together on a U.S.-Canada basis because we are so similar and our countries are at a similar state of development on the transportation system, he said.(Additional reporting by David Ljunggren; editing by Rob Wilson)

US Congress Approves Iron Dome Spending
by Maayana Miskin MAY 21,10

The United States Congress voted Thursday to approve $205 million in aid to Israel for the Iron Dome missile defense system. The funding passed by a vote of 410 to 4, with eight abstentions. With nearly every square inch of Israel at risk from rocket and missile attacks, we must ensure that our most important ally in the region has the tools to defend itself, said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Howard Berman.Iron Dome could help save the lives of innocent Israelis who every day live in fear of rocket attacks on their homes, schools, and marketplaces, said Florida congressman Ted Deutch. Deutch commended the Obama administration for offering the assistance.US President Barack Obama announced his intention to provide the funding last week. The measure will now go before the Senate. The Iron Dome is designed to stop short-range rockets, such as those used by terrorists in Gaza and southern Lebanon. However, experts say it cannot stop rockets from a distance of less than five kilometers, making it ineffective in protecting towns directly adjacent to the border. The funding is a political coup for Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who touted the Iron Dome system during a visit to the US in April. JERUSALEM DIVIDED

ZECHARIAH 12:1-5 King James Bible
1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
5 And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

JOEL 3:2
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

ZECHARIAH 14:1-9 King James Bible
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.
9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

What Do They Mean by East Jerusalem"?
by Hillel Fendel MAY 21,10

Ramat Shlomo, in the news because of Israel's now-suspended plans to expand it, is one of several new neighborhoods in the historic Jewish capital. Though international elements speak glibly of Arab east Jerusalem, close to a quarter of a million Jews live in the parts of Jerusalem liberated by Israel during the Six Day War of 1967.Jerusalem was named Israel's capital, as it had been during King David's time, after the War of Independence in 1948-9. During and prior to the war, there had been talk of internationalizing the Old City and environs, but the plan was never implemented due to opposition from both the Jewish and Arab parties.Alongside Israel's capital in the western half of the city was eastern Jerusalem, annexed by Jordan in 1950; a wall and barbed wire divided the city in two. By 1967, the population of Jewish Jerusalem had grown to 260,000. Among its most famous neighborhoods were then Me’ah She’arim, Rehavia, Emek Refaim/German Colony, Geulah, Givat Sha’ul, Beit HaKerem, Kiryat Moshe and Talpiyot. Other notable neighborhoods include Ein Kerem, Katamon, Yemin Moshe, Nahlaot, Romema and Machaneh Yehuda, and the newer Har Nof and Bayit V’gan. The Six Day War in 1967 marked Israel's successful military response to the deployment of several Arab national military forces threatening to drive the Jews into the sea. The war saw the Old City of Jerusalem come under Jewish control for the first time since the destruction of the Second Temple 1,900 years earlier. Together with the Old City, Israel regained all of the area west of the Jordan River, known as Judea and Samaria.Israel then expanded the borders of its historic capital, and built in its old-new areas the following neighborhoods. (link to map is at end of article):

-Ramat Eshkol (the first to be built), French Hill, and Sanhedria Murchevet, all not far from the center of town and contiguous with it except for topographical limitations (white areas on the map, meanwhile);

-Ramot, sometimes called Ramot Alon (population: approximately 40,000) and Ramat Shlomo (18,000), planned to be contiguous with Sanhedria Murchevet and Ramat Eshkol, N’vei Yaakov (a recreation of the neighborhood that existed there before 1948; 20,000 people), Pisgat Ze’ev (42,000) which is contiguous with Neve Yaakov, and the Atarot industrial zone in the north;

-Gilo (population: 40,000), East Talpiyot (15,000), contiguous except for topographical considerations (white on map) and Har Homa (11,000) in the southeast;

-Mt. Scopus, Mt. of Olives, the former a Jewish enclave before 1948 and the latter the location of a historic Jewish cemetery, and, most recently, Nof Tzion to the east.

Within 13 years after the Six Day War, the population of Jerusalem had increased by well over 55%, growing to nearly 410,000. It continued growing at a fast clip: In 1990, there were over 524,000 people, and 657,000 in the year 2000.
