This is the worst thing Israel can do. How do these murderers think they can get 800-1000 murderers released from Israeli prisons, when only 1 Israeli Soldier gets set free. Israel I love you dearly, but them leaders of yours are just trying to help the arabs and Muslims fulfill Psalms 83:4 that says They (Arab and Muslims and Russia) have confederated (treaties) to eliminate Israel from the face of the Earth.
I'm totally shocked, 800 for 1. Thats usually Gods odds for Israel, not the enemy, something very bad is happening to the Israeli leaders and I can't figure it out. Can you!!!. ISRAEL DO NOT DO IT, THATS MORE ENEMIES TO DESTROY YOUR COUNTRY.
The true solution would have been the DEATH penalty (Like God says in his word) then probably 9/10th of the 800-1000 bombers would be in Hell already were they belong for murdering Innocent ISRAELI, MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
I have a feeling those Demonic Spirits I wrote about last story (yesterday) has infiltrated Israels leaders.

Talk of Massive Prisoner Exchange
By Yechiel Spira and Hillel Fendel(INN)
Negotiations are underway towards obtaining the release of captive IDF soldier Corporal Gilad Shalit, held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza. Shalit's father says no progress is being made. Talks are reportedly underway towards reaching a deal by which Corp. Shalit would be released in exchange for Israel setting free 800-1,000 terrorists, in three stages. Shalit’s immediate release would be accompanied by the setting free of 300 terrorists from Israeli prisons, and followed some weeks later by the release of another few hundred. The final stage, to be accomplished by year’s end, would demand the release of 200 prisoners.
According to a report appearing last week in the Saudi Okaz newspaper, an Israeli delegation visited Egypt in an effort to negotiate a prisoner release deal. Egypt is said to be active in prisoner-release efforts.Shalit fell into captivity on June 25th, during a multi-pronged terror attack at Kerem Shalom, adjacent to the Gaza border. Two soldiers were killed in the attack, and Shalit was abducted from his
tank. Terrorists quickly fled back, via the tunnel they had dug, into PA (Palestinian Authority)-controlled Gaza.
Noam Shalit, Gilad's father, told Voice of Israel Radio that he is not encouraged by the reports: The progress is being made in the media, but nowhere else.He said that Israel demands to see concrete evidence that Gilad is alive before agreeing to free terrorist prisoners. The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement saying, We are unaware of any impending deal towards the release of soldiers.Despite the denial from the Prime Minister’s Office, reports indicate that the deal in the works would coincide with the Muslim holiday of Id el-Fitr, which follows Ramadan, a holiday that is generally accompanied by pardons for prisoners in Muslim countries. This year, Id ed-Fitr is observed on Sept. 23rd.
It has been learned that Ophir Dekel, an aide to Mr. Olmert, traveled last week to Germany where he met with Ernst Uhrlau, head of the BND Intelligence Agency. Dekel reportedly discussed German mediation efforts towards obtaining the release of Shalit and two soldiers held by Hizbullah, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. Government officials are signaling that Fatah Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti, who is serving multiple life sentences for his terrorist acts, will not be among those released despite the considerable pressure applied by the PA in the past to obtain Barghouti’s release.
In addition, Israel remains adamant in refusing to include Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar in a prisoner release deal, but Jerusalem is willing to release other Lebanese prisoners held by Israel, numbering fewer than 30. Israel is also prepared to hand over the bodies of Hizbullah terrorists. The daily Yediot Achronot reports that Syria is also making demands, seeking the release of 20 Druse residents of the Golan Heights imprisoned in Israel. The Syrian demands are reportedly not tied to this negotiating effort.
Hamas Officials Will Not be Included in the Deal
Hamas PA ministers and elected PA officials imprisoned in Israel will not be included in the upcoming deal. It appears those members of the PA administration not facing criminal charges for their terrorist activities will remain incarcerated pending the formation of a unity PA government including Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ (Abu Mazen) Fatah Party.

Floods leave 1.5 million homeless in eastern India By Sanjaya Jena
Sun Sep 3, 4:36 AM ET
BHUBANESWAR, India (Reuters) - Flooding triggered by monsoon rains in the past few days have left 1.5 million people homeless and damaged thousands of acres of paddy crop in the eastern Indian state of Orissa, officials said on Sunday. Over 20,000 people were evacuated after hundreds of villages were cut off. Army troops were evacuating more villagers from coastal districts with the authorities braced for more rain.We are bothered about the fresh formation of a low pressure over the Bay of Bengal and are closely monitoring its movement, Subash Pani, the state's seniormost bureaucrat, told Reuters. The flood victims, with their houses submerged, were living in makeshift tents and surviving on dry food air-dropped by relief workers, witnesses said.Hundreds of people are killed every year in South Asia during the June-September monsoon season and millions displaced from their homes or
marooned in their villages.
HEAVY DAMAGE
Monsoon rains have caused widespread damage this year.Hundreds of people have been killed in western and southern India and millions left homeless due to flooding. At least 140 people have been killed and thousands left homeless in the western desert state of Rajasthan in the past two weeks. In Nepal, at least 50 people died last week in flash floods. Thousands of people have been evacuated to dry areas while officials are braced for any outbreak of diseases.Landslides and flash floods have also affected thousands of people in Pakistan. In Orissa, continuous rains and flash floods in the past three months have already killed 70 people and crippled road and electricity networks, officials said.In restive Indian Kashmir, authorities declared a flood alert on Sunday after the Himalayan region's main rivers flowed above the danger mark, flooding villages and damaging crops.Landslides triggered by incessant rains blocked a vital 300-km (186 mile) national highway linking Srinagar, the region's summer capital, with the rest of the country, officials said.(Additional reporting by Sheikh Mushtaq in SRINAGAR)
Hurricane John downgraded after whipping Mexico By Antonio Alcantar
Sat Sep 2, 7:08 PM ET
LA PAZ, Mexico (Reuters) - Hurricane John was downgraded to a tropical storm on Saturday after blasting the tourist port city of La Paz with wicked winds and torrential rain that knocked out power and flooded streets but caused no deaths. John flattened trees and electric power poles and sent advertising signs flying overnight in La Paz, popular with tourists and the capital of Baja California Sur state. As the weakening storm crept up Mexico's Baja California peninsula, rains eased and electricity was restored in much of the city of 200,000 people. But main streets were flooded with ankle-deep water and the La Paz airport remained closed.Farther south, the seaside resort of Los Cabos was also flooded and roads out were impassable as muddy rainwater and debris from surrounding hills poured down unpaved streets. There was a lot of rain. The windows were shaking pretty good, said Jeff Passama, 27, from San Francisco, who had driven north to La Paz from Los Cabos to try to escape the storm.
Now we have to figure out how to get out of here, he said, as many people abandoned their sport utility vehicles after getting stuck in slushy sand. After John felled up to 40 power poles in La Paz, authorities cut off the electricity supply to prevent downed wires from electrocuting people, rescue workers said.We are happy because we have a clean slate, said state civil protection chief Jose Gajon. No one was killed.
NO US THREAT
Before John made landfall on Friday evening as a Category 2 storm, about 4,000 people living in low-lying areas of La Paz were moved to shelters.By Saturday afternoon, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said John had weakened to a tropical storm from a Category 1 hurricane. The storm was still expected to churn up Baja California before heading out into the Pacific Ocean, posing no threat to the United States. The peninsula extends about 680 miles south from the U.S. border.Ester Aman, owner of the Angel Azul Hotel, said she felt the old building shaking as John lashed La Paz. It was like a strobe light in the sky, she said of the lightning. At Los Cabos, on the peninsula's western tip, thousands of tourists and locals took shelter.
Vacationers sat out Friday on mattresses in conference rooms of five-star hotels. The hardest part was the waiting, said hospital secretary Patty Ruiz from Los Angeles, who had just gotten engaged to her boyfriend when the hurricane warning came.
Tourists went back to their hotel rooms on Saturday and were eager to restart their vacations.I want to enjoy Cabos, go clubbing and to the beach, said Lisa Perez, on a break from her California furniture store.Local residents were less fortunate, with flooded roads meaning some faced a third night in shelters. In the United States, the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto left more than 400,000 homes without power in the mid-Atlantic region on Saturday, and two people were reported dead in storm-related traffic accidents. Ernesto dampens East Coast's holiday By LARRY O'DELL, Associated Press Writer Sat Sep 2, 10:56 PM ET
RICHMOND, Va.The remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto put a sloppy wet damper on the last big tourism weekend of the summer for many people, making a mess of some oceanfront hotels and leaving beaches and boardwalks less crowded than usual.
Ernesto was reduced to an area of rain over western New York state and the lower Great Lakes by Saturday afternoon, after drenching Virginia and North Carolina with up to a foot on its run up the East Coast. It had caused flooding that forced hundreds of people out of their homes, and left more than a half-million homes and businesses without electricity Saturday in the mid-Atlantic states. At least four deaths were blamed on the storm in Virginia, plus one in North Carolina.Hotels in Virginia Beach reported some last-minute cancelations Saturday as the storm apparently led many people to change their plans. Some who decided to tough it out faced oceanfront rooms with carpets soaked by wind-driven rain.I've never seen it this severe in all my years here, said Jimmy Capps, manager of the Breakers Resort Inn. Probably every oceanfront hotel in Virginia Beach has some wet carpet.
Casino operators in Atlantic City, N.J., had no complaints. Harrah's Entertainment spokeswoman Alyce Parker said all four of the company's hotels — Harrah's, Showboat, Bally's Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City — were already booked for the weekend and Saturday's wind and drizzle just kept people on the casino floors.People really aren't on the beach,Parker said.Beach-goers were stymied on the south shore of New York state's Long Island, where swimming was banned at most beaches Saturday because of rip currents. Waves up to 12 feet high caused severe beach erosion. The storm forced most play at the U.S. Open in Queens to be postponed until Sunday, including matches involving Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova and Andre Agassi. In New Jersey, high winds and heavy rain also caused Monmouth Park to cancel its thoroughbred racing card Saturday.
Wind and rain delayed flights at John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports by up to three hours, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.Flooding remained a problem in North Carolina, where the Northeast Cape Fear River was more than 5 feet above flood stage and not expected to crest until Sunday, the National Weather Service said.Right now, we're just holding on,said Terry Smith, a supervisor with Duplin County Emergency Medical Services.Firefighters had already helped evacuate about 20 people from six houses near the river in Chinquapin. About 50 houses were threatened by the rising water, said David Miller, an EMS worker and a captain with the Chinquapin Volunteer Fire Department. In Pennsylvania, a man drowned in a rain-swollen retention basin while trying to rescue his dog. Thomas V. Chipley, 45, of Telford, was sucked into a drainage pipe. The
dog was injured but survived.Virginia emergency officials said Ernesto's heaviest rainfall and a tidal surge raked rural communities along Virginia's side of the Chesapeake Bay.Jeffrey Brown, 37, stayed with his wheelchair-bound father rather than evacuate St.
George Island, which juts into the Potomac River where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.Three feet of water came into the home, he said.I didn't sleep too well last night,Brown said, looking haggard. It was bad, real bad. Associated Press writers Steve Szkotak in Richmond; Stephen Manning in St. George Island, Md.; Mark Scolforo in Harrisburg, Pa., and Daniela Flores in Trenton, N.J., contributed to this report.

Forest Fires Close Down Some Areas, Others Reopen for Holiday
By Teri Nelson
BOISE A smokey haze over the Treasure Valley Labor Day weekend offers a reminder fires have caused some National Forest campgrounds and trails to be closed, but a few areas are being reopened.
Saturday several areas reopened including Paradise Valley northeast of Warm Lake, Thunderbolt Mountain Lookout Area, Buck Mountain Area, and the Warm Lake Summit Area.
An area closure is still in effect west of Deadwood Reservoir extending toward the Rattlesnake Point Fire. Last week the fire grew by two to three miles each afternoon during peak burning periods.

UNIFIL Force Deployment Begins in Lebanon
By Debbie Berman(INN)
Italian soldiers have begun moving into position in southern Lebanon as part of the new UNIFIL force. Israel retracts its opposition to the inclusion of Indonesian troops in the peacekeeping force. Indonesian Foreign Minister Hassan Wirajuda announced plans to send up to 1,000 soldiers to join the UNIFIL force in Lebanon by the end of this month. This follows Israel's consent to allow Indonesian participation even though Indonesia, a Moslem country, does not maintain diplomatic ties with Israel. According to Israeli diplomatic sources, Israel remains opposed to the participation of Malaysia and Bangladesh in the force, citing the two countries' open support of Hizbullah during the recent war in Lebanon and their lack of diplomatic activity with Israel. In contrast, the sources stated that there has been an ongoing quiet diplomatic dialogue with Indonesia and described the Indonesian stance on the Hizbullah as more moderate.
Approximately 1,000 Italian soldiers started moving into Lebanon on Saturday as part of the UNIFIL peacekeeping force. The force is to include up to 15,000 soldiers, according to UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Spain voted on Friday to send 1,100 soldiers to serve in the UNIFIL force. Deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega explained, It is an operation that falls within international law. It is a peace operation in a country that has been destroyed.Turkey has also committed to sending soldiers as well as a naval task force to take part in the UNIFIL force, despite public opposition in the country. Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul asserted that Turkish soldiers were not being sent to disarm Hizbullah militants, adding, But of course, if the soldiers come under attack they would defend themselves. Germany will not send military troops, in order not to evoke images of armed Germans facing Jews, but has agreed to send observers and advisors.

Arab States to Push Peace Initiative in Security Council
15:29 Sep 03, '06 / 10 Elul 5766
(IsraelNN.com) Intensive contacts are ongoing between Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Authority (PA) towards formulating a draft plan for regional peace, which the Arab leaders hope to advance in the UN
Security Council.
The report of the ongoing initiative appeared in the Jerusalem-based al-Quds Arabic language newspaper.Arab League officials report that the Arab initiative includes a number of parties, as well as a defined timetable to resuscitate peace efforts and the renewal of Israeli-Arab negotiations.
Annan Wins Ahmadinejad's Pledge to Support Resolution 1701
UN chief Kofi Annan on Sunday won a pledge from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to support a UN resolution bringing peace to Lebanon but was warned Iran would not suspend sensitive nuclear work before negotiations.
Annan said after talks with the president that Ahmadinejad assured him Tehran would support the implementation of the UN resolution that ended the fighting in Lebanon and was ready to negotiate over its nuclear program. He reaffirmed his complete support for the implementation of (Security Council) Resolution 1701 which halted the devastating month-long conflict between Israel and Hizbullah, Annan said. He added that Ahmadinejad had agreed that Iran, which backs Hizbullah, would do everything to support the territorial integrity of Lebanon and the independence of Lebanon.
Tehran will work together with us in a collective effort to reconstruct Lebanon, he added.Annan's 10-day tour of the Middle East has been mainly aimed at implementing the UN resolution which halted a 34-day conflict that killed more than 1,200 people in Lebanon, overwhelmingly civilians, and 160 Israelis, mostly soldiers. State radio quoted Ahmadinejad as saying that Iran is ready to help in the reconstruction of Lebanon and seriously take part in any group activity to rebuild Lebanon. He also said that Israel and its allies Britain and the United States should compensate Lebanon for the damages inflicted. Meanwhile Ahmadinejad told Annan at the Tehran meeting that he was prepared to negotiate on Iran's nuclear program but would not accept a suspension of uranium enrichment before talks, rejecting a key demand of Western countries.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki promised full support for the cease-fire resolution in Lebanon in talks Saturday with U.N chief Kofi Annan, a U.N. spokesman said.
Mottaki told Annan in their meeting that, You can count on our full cooperation in the U.N. cease-fire resolution that ended the fighting in Lebanon between Israel and Hizbullah, an ally of Iran, Annan's spokesman Ahmad Fawzi told The Associated Press.Fawzi would not say whether Mottaki specifically addressed requirements in U.N. Resolution 1701 for all countries to prevent the shipping of weapons to Hizbullah. But Annan and Mottaki discussed full implementation of 1701, including paragraph 15, which deals with the arms embargo,Fawzi said.Mottaki was later quoted by the state news agency as saying Iran supports the resolution, though the report did not mention the arms issue. In an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde, Annan said he wants Iran to use its influence in helping the international community disarm Hizbullah.
But Iran and Hizbullah deny Tehran supplies weapons to the group. But many in the West, Israel and the Arab world believe Iran provided the rockets fired by the group into northern Israel during the 34-day war.Annan was in Syria, Hizbullah's other top ally, on Friday. He said he secured a promise from Syrian President Bashar Assad to increase patrols along its border with Lebanon and work with Lebanese troops to thwart the flow of arms to Hizbullah.
But the promise was met with immediate skepticism from Israel and some in Lebanon. The U.N. resolution that halted the Lebanon war calls on all countries not to supply weapons to any party in Lebanon other than the Lebanese government.Annan, who has already visited Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Syria, left Iran later Sunday for Qatar. He is also due to visit Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt.(AFP-AP) Beirut, 03 Sep 06, 11:05

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Global warming fallout near
By Erica Thompson September 04, 2006 12:00am
IF you're feeling the heat in the sharemarket, just take a look outside. The temperature is soaring, the sea level is rising and the weather is becoming more extreme. But the threat posed by global warming is not just environmental – investors are also being warned to batten down their portfolios. While no one is absolutely certain about the effects of global warming, you need to construct your portfolio so that you have a bet each way, says Steve Johnson, managing director of The Intelligent Investor. The increase in the frequency of hurricanes in the last few years has had a very big impact on insurance companies. If you are heavily exposed to the insurance sector, you may want to consider owning something like a construction company so if it does come to pass, at least your portfolio is not going to be devastated.
A report published by US environmental investor group Ceres shows a 15-fold increase in insured losses from catastrophic weather events in the past three decades. Hurricane Katrina alone produced record claims of more than $US45 billion ($58 billion). Closer to home, Cyclone Larry took the wind out of both the Insurance Australia Group and Promina's bottom lines with claims of $150 million and $47 million respectively.Research economist John Quiggin says the agricultural and tourism sectors are also at risk of significant losses if the erratic weather continues. Most of southeast Australia will probably get drier and that's going to mean more conflict over water, he says. Then if you get large-scale ice melting and sea levels rise, it could have quite devastating impacts everywhere near the coast – which is most of the economic activity in Queensland.
Professor Quiggin says another major concern for climate-wary investors is a reliance on fossil fuels.I think you have to factor in the assumption that we're going to need to put a lot more resources into clean coal,he says. For any stock that's energy intensive, you really need to look at factoring in, at some point, a charge for CO2 emissions and working out how that's going to effect your projections.
Mr Johnson agrees any move to regulate carbon emissions would have major impacts on the aviation and transport industries. This fear has triggered a race to find the next big thing, sending alternative energy stocks in the US soaring to levels not
since the dot-com boom of the 1990s.
American research group Cleantech Venture Network says venture capitalists invested a record $US739 million in renewable energy companies last year.Any of your new technology companies that are producing biofuels or products in the renewable energy sector are going to be big beneficiaries,Mr Johnson says.
If the world does shift away from fossil fuels, the oil industry will be a big loser from that. But these things always tend to take a lot longer than people originally envisioned and companies tend to be able to reinvent themselves. We believe (global warming) is happening, but we're still recommending a couple of oil companies we quite like because we think oil will be around for a long time to come.Regardless, there is more pressure than ever on companies to address their environmental track records. Some analysts believe investing in climate-conscious organisations will pay off in the long term.
Others say dire predictions about the effects of global warming are premature. It's important to be aware of these things and think about well, if that does happen what would it do to my portfolio? Mr Johnson says. But we do see a lot of people get obsessed with these things and become convinced we're going to run out of oil in two years' time and then base their whole portfolio on that scenario. If it doesn't happen, your portfolio really suffers.
I WRITE NEWS ABOUT AND PUT NEWS ARTICLES ABOUT ISRAEL AND JERUSALEM PERTAINING TO BIBLE PROPHESY HAPPENINGS.JOEL 3:20 But Judah (ISRAEL) shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.(THATS ISRAEL-JERUSALEM WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED AGAIN)-WE CHRISTIANS ARE ALL WAITING PATIENTLY FOR THE PRE-TRIBULATION RAPTURE TO OCCUR.SO WE CAN GO TO JESUS AND GET OUR NEVER DYING BODIES.SO WE CAN RULE OVER CITIES OURSELVES.WHILE JESUS RULES FROM DAVIDS THRONE FOREVER IN JERUSALEM.

STRONGMAN BEHIND THE CAUSE (DEMON)
Jesus used the Word of God as a weapon against the Devil. People don't know how Demons enter. They get all these things from the world and they think its ok. No, its not ok! If you have Demonic pictures in your house, get them out. If you have Demonic material, throw it away. Whatever is in your house that does not Honor God, get rid of it, because Demons come in through objects.
Give no place to the Devil means not only don't you live a life of lack and a life of weakness but it also means don't have any objects in your house, that honors Satan.
RECOGNIZING DEMONIC ACTIVITY.
There are 12 STRONG SPIRITS in the BIBLE. And under their guidance and power is every activity of the Demonic.
1-The Spirit of Jealousy: Under this spirit is Murder, Anger, Rage, Revenge, Competition, Suspicion.
NUMBERS 5:11-14
11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,
13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:
PROVERBS 6:34-35
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
2-The Spirit of Lieing: Under this Spirit is a religous Spirit, Superstition.
2 CHRONICLES 18:22
22 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
JEREMIAH 23:14-16
14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.
16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
EZEKIEL 12:24
24 For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel.
3-The Farmiliar Spirit: Under this Spirit is Demons of Astrology, Horoscopes, Fortune Telling and the Occult.
1 SAMUEL 28:7
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
DEUTERONOMY 18:10-12
10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee
4-The Perverse Spirit: Under this Spirit is Lust, Fornication, Err, Filthyness, and anything unclean. People under this Spirit hate GOD, And this Spirit will always cause these people to live in Error, never to see the truth of Gods Word.
ISAIAH 19:14
14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.
PROVERBS 23:33
33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things.
5-The Spirit of Heaviness: Under this Spirit is Grief, Despare, Hopelessness, Rejection, Self Pity, Gloominess and Gluttony.
ISAIAH 61:3
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
6-The Spirit of Whordom: Under this Spirit is Idolatry, Prostitution.
ISAIAH 4:4
4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.
7-The Spirit of Infirmity: Under this Spirit is all sickness and Disease.
LUKE 13:11
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
8-The Spirit of Deaf and Dumb: Under this Spirit is Epilepsy, Anorexia.
MARK 9:17-25
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;
18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.
19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.
22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
9-The Spirit of Fear: Under this Spirit is Fear, Torment, Terror, Worry, Infiriority Complex, Phobias, Inadiquate, Fear of heights, Fear of Darkness, Fear of Dangers, Nightmares, Tremblings.
2 TIMOTHY 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
10-The Spirit of Pride: Under this Spirit is Gossip, Stuborness, Contentions, Wars, Wrath, Arrogance, Control, Self-Righeousness.
PROVERBS 16:18
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
11-The Spirit of Bondage: Under this Spirit is Bitterness, and all Addictions.
ROMANS 8:15
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
12-The Spirit of Anti-Christ: Under this Spirit is Denial of the Virgin Birth, Resurrection, That Christ came in the Flesh, That Christ died on the Cross.
The strongest weapon against Demons is Intercession. Prayer. Satan has no weapon against this. Intercession is Prayer Warfare. This is a Army marching on their knees.
We see most of the problems in the world are not physical, but a Demonic Spirit behind it. Jesus saw the Devil behind Peters words in Matthew 16. Binding and loosening happens in Intercession. Intercession must have the Word of God in it, because without the Word it is ineffective. Intercession puts Angels to work, it activates the hosts of Heaven.
PSALMS 35:1-6
1 A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
Intercession touches Heaven to attack Hell. Intercession speaks to obsticles and destroys them. Intercession is Sacrificial, its Prayer Warfare. It is shameless persistance.
2 TIMOTHY 2:26
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
2 CORINTHIANS 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Now the Word of God is clear. When you intercede, protection comes.
EZEKIEL 9:4-6
4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
When you Intercede, destruction is cancelled.
EZEKIEL 22:30-31
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.
The Bible says intercession is the most perfect form of Prayer. When you Intercede, the holy Spirit steps in, and Demons are driven out. Jesus Said, If I with the finger of God cast out Devils.
The Holy Ghost comes in when we intercede. Never face Demons without Praying first. Then, and only then, go into battle. When casting out Demons, go after the strongman, not just the cause. Get to the strongman behind the Cancer or whatever it is. By going after the strongman behind the cause, it will make you such a mighty warrior, the Devil will never show up when you are there

What is RFID?
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a system that wirelessly transmits the identity of a person or product — using a unique serial number — through electromagnetic waves.Components: A transponder (usually a microchip and antenna combined on one chip) is attached to a label or imbedded in a device, product, human or pet. A reader is then used to scan the chip, and a database is used to read the information.
Kinds of chips: An active tag is battery powered and broadcasts a signal that can be read up to 1,500 feet away. A passive tag is not self-powered and can only be activated by a reader, usually within inches or up to 15 feet away.Common Uses: Tracking products through the distribution system; gaining entry to a car or office building; cataloguing books or videos at a library; tracking baggage; wireless payment at gas stations or on toll roads; identification at resorts, amusement parks or athletic competitions; livestock management; interactive toys.History: The technology dates to World War II when it was first used to identify friendly
aircraft. Over the years, it's mostly been used to track products.Source: GNS research.

Ernesto remnants drench Mid-Atlantic By KASEY JONES, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 17 minutes ago
BALTIMORE - Disrupting the start of the Labor Day weekend, the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto drenched the Mid-Atlantic region, cut power to more than 400,000 customers and forced evacuations. Flash flood watches were posted early Saturday for New Jersey and New York. Flood warnings were issued for North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.
Ernesto was blamed for at least five deaths in Virginia and North Carolina, where it swirled ashore late Thursday as a tropical storm, a day after severe thunderstorms had already drenched the region. It weakened Friday to a tropical depression, meaning its sustained winds had fallen below 39 mph.The storm lost much of its punch as it moved farther inland. Flood watches were canceled in Pennsylvania, and rivers and streams across the state were expected to remain well within their banks, officials said.
Eastern North Carolina got 8 to 12 inches of rain, while southeastern Virginia measured up to a foot. Seven inches fell in Worcester County on Maryland's Eastern Shore, and a wind gust of 61 mph was recorded in Ocean City, said Ed McDonough, spokesman for the Maryland Emergency Management Agency.Sheriff's deputies in St. Mary's County, Md., on Friday evacuated about 30 residents of St. George's Island, which juts into the Potomac River where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay. The county ordered the evacuation of all tidal areas, about 3,000 people.Greg Gill, 36, waded through waist-deep water to leave the island. It pushed me back and forth as I walked through it,he said.I was going to stay (in my house), but it just keep getting worse and worse.
More than 200 homes were evacuated in Richmond, Va., and about a dozen people had to leave their homes in coastal Poquoson, which is still recovering from Hurricane Isabel three years ago. About 50 homes on Chesapeake Bay's Northumberland County were also evacuated, Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine said.In Gloucester, Va., a husband and wife were crushed to death when a tree fell on their modular home, said Maj. T.P. Doss, a spokesman for the county sheriff's office. Two traffic deaths in Virginia and one in North Carolina were also blamed on Ernesto. The red flags were up along the New Jersey shore on Friday, a warning to would-be bathers that the storm was on the way.You get close to that water, it'll just suck you out, Lifeguard Capt. Rob Albright said as he ate a cheeseburger on the Asbury Park boardwalk.More than 460,000 customers were without power from North Carolina to New Jersey, with more than 200,000 of those in Virginia.
The governors of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and the mayor of the District of Columbia, each declared a state of emergency because of the storm. Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich said he decided against one because his state has been so dry.North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley planned to take an aerial tour Saturday of the Northeast Cape Fear River. By late Friday, the river rose to over 16 feet in Chinquapin, a few inches above its flood stage of 13 feet. It was expected to crest Sunday at around 18 feet, at which point numerous roads would flood and residents would need to be evacuated, said Scott Kennedy, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Morehead City.Arlene Losaw lost her mobile home to Hurricane Fran 10 years ago.
As the river rose Friday, water gradually covered her driveway and began lapping at the front stoop of her newer mobile home in Chinquapin. She and her husband, William, were hoping they wouldn't have to evacuate — or lose their home again.I thought we were done with this mess,Losaw said. It keeps coming and, depending on how bad it gets, we may have to get out of here.
Associated Press writers Sonja Barisic in Norfolk, Va., Mike Baker in Chinquapin, N.C., Maryclaire Dale in Philadelphia and Jeffrey Gold in Asbury Park, N.J., contributed to this report.
Hurricane John cuts power in La Paz By Antonio Alcantar
1 hour, 35 minutes ago
LA PAZ, Mexico (Reuters) Hurricane John rumbled up Mexico's Baja California peninsula on Saturday after roughing up this tourist port overnight with wicked winds and torrential rain that knocked out power. Rescue workers began assessing damages and possible deaths in La Paz -- where about 200,000 people live -- when daylight broke. The hurricane passed close by, or right over us, and cut power to the entire city,La Paz civil protection worker Adrian Romero said in an interview. When the sun comes up we'll do a full evaluation, right now we can't, we can't see. There is no power.La Paz is capital of Baja California Sur state and roads flooded from the heavy rain, cutting off several routes.
Before John made landfall Friday as a Category 2 storm, around 4,000 people living in vulnerable low-lying areas of the city were moved to shelters to ride out the storm. Rescue worker Romero said they passed the night safely.John weakened on Saturday to a Category 1 hurricane, but was still packing winds of 85 mph (160 kph). The storm was forecast to lose more punch as it swirled over the peninsula. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm was creeping northwest up the peninsula and now located about 10 miles northwest of La Paz.John was forecast to churn up the east coast of the peninsula and then out into the Pacific Ocean, posing no threat to the United States.
STORM SURGES
Coastal storm surges of up to 5 feet above normal tide levels with battering waves were expected, and rain of six to 12 inches with isolated deluges of 18 inches were possible, the center said.On the western tip of the peninsula in the luxurious seaside resort of Los Cabos, thousands of tourists and residents had been forced into shelters to escape John's wrath.Five-star hotels in Los Cabos had sent vacationers to sit out most of Friday on mattresses in shelters set up in conference rooms.
But when the storm brushed close by, only dumping heavy rain and whipping up winds, tourists went back to their rooms and were keen to restart their holidays on Saturday.I want to enjoy Cabos, go clubbing and go to the beach, said Lisa Perez, who was on a break from running her furniture store in California.Local residents in Los Cabos were less fortunate, however, as rescue workers forced them to spend a second night in the shelters set up for people living in areas in most danger from flooding and winds.
They were expected to return to their fragile homes early Saturday when alerts were lifted. In October, Hurricane Wilma hit Cancun and other beach resorts on Mexico's Caribbean coast. It caused heavy damage, eroding large stretches of beach and stranded tens of thousands of tourists for days. (Reporting by Noel Randewich and Armando Tovar in Los Cabos)

Fire fighters in Northwestern Ontario continue to battle new blazes, as the region has seen a return to the moderate to high fire hazard. Thirteen new fires have been recorded over the past two days, bringing the total number of active blazes in the region to 36.
Since April 1 the MNR has recorded 1,116 forest fires in the northwest and over 18,000 hectares have been burned. And it's not just here that the battle is taking place, over 40 personnel have been dispatched to Montana to help out crews in that state.MNR spokesperson Deb Maclean says that they have now joined the fight and are fitting in well. Their biggest hurdle to date has been getting accustomed to the mountainous terrain of the area.

Spain to build up Lebanon force (BBC)
Spain is involved in peacekeeping missions around the world The Spanish government has approved plans to send 1,100 troops to Lebanon as part of a UN peacekeeping force. Defence minister Jose Antonio Alonso has instructed the armed forces to prepare for the deployment, which will be carried out in two phases. The Spanish parliament is expected to support the plan next week.
Separately, the first group of soldiers from Italy, which aims to deploy over 2,500 soldiers, arrived to the southern Lebanese port city of Tyre. The Spanish troops will join the 15,000-strong UN force to police the ceasefire that ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah. The majority of Spanish lawmakers, including the opposition, are expected to support the government's decision.
But the leader of the opposition Popular party, Mariano Rajoy, has criticised the government for being willing to send the military to Lebanon, but not to Iraq, the BBC's Danny Wood reports from Madrid. In response, Mr Alonso said that the Spanish people fully understand the difference between this troop deployment and the war in Iraq. Mr Alonso says Spanish soldiers in Lebanon will be on a peacekeeping mission that complies with international law.

EU ministers call for revival of Mideast peace process
www.chinaview.cn 2006-09-02 03:13:50
HELSINKI, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- EU foreign ministers call for unanimously the revival of Middle East peace process, said Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, whose country holds the European Union's rotating presidency, on Friday at the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Lappeenranta, southern Finland. During the first day of meeting, EU foreign Ministers discussed the Middle East peace process openly and in-depth. After the talks, Tuomioja said that the discussions affirmed the unanimity of the EU member states on the need to revive the Middle East peace process. Ministers agreed that united action by the EU over the summer had made a positive impact on efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East.
Tuomioja said that EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana already has the mandate of the member states of EU to work to move the peace process forward and to be in contact with all the parties involved. He particularly emphasized the importance of cooperation with the United States and Arab nations. Before the first day of talks, European External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner called for head-to-head talks between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.
She said that specific efforts should be taken to restore peace in the Middle East, and a meeting between Olmert and Abbas could be one of those. The European Union should initiate the reloading of the peace process, as military conflicts do not bring benefits to either side, as the recent clashes have proven, she said. Enditem
EU favours diplomacy on Iran row
[ 2 Sep, 2006 1702hrs ISTIANS ]
LAPPEENRANTA (FINLAND): European Union foreign ministers vowed to continue diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis over Iran's nuclear programme rather than rushing to impose UN sanctions on Tehran. We ... have no interest in an escalation with Iran in the UN Security Council,German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said here on Saturday. An International Atomic Energy Agency deadline expired on August 31 for Iran to suspend its uranium enrichment programme, which is widely seen as being aimed at producing nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charges. Steinmeier, speaking at a meeting of the 25 European Union foreign ministers in Lappeenranta, put the onus on Iran to show it was serious about continuing talks.
We will not slam the door but we need a signal from the other side,he said. Echoing this view, Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot termed Tehran's response disappointing. But he said cutting off contacts would be the worst thing the EU could do. Just because (Iran) behaves in an irresponsible manner does not mean that we have to be irresponsible, said Bot. The ministers on Friday backed plans by EU chief diplomat Javier Solana to hold talks early next week with senior Iranian officials. Asked about a timetable, Bot said he was unsure how long a dialogue with Iran could go on. The ministers are also seeking to deepen relations with Russia, and bring down barriers to trade and investment, said Finland, which holds the rotating EU presidency.
Arab nations request new start on Mideast peace
Fri Sep 1, 2006 2:13pm ET,By Irwin Arieff
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Arab countries have formally asked the U.N. Security Council to acknowledge that efforts to end the Arab-Israeli conflict have failed and to resuscitate and reshape the peace process. The 22-nation Arab League called on the council to formally recognize "the need to reactivate the Middle Eastern peace process and establish a mechanism for us to proceed on all tracks in the Palestinian territories, Syria and Lebanon, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said in Damascus on Friday.A letter, sent to the Security Council this week by Arab League U.N. Observer Yahya Mahmassani but not yet made public, showed that concrete steps were underway to resume peace efforts, Annan said. The letter called on foreign ministers from the council's 15 members to meet this month in New York to discuss its plea.Council diplomats said the request was under study and no date had been set.
John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, denied the peace process had failed. He said not every country in the region supported the Arab League idea, and he wanted to know whether Israel would be invited to the proposed ministerial meeting.
One always wants to know what the outcome is going to be when you ask your foreign minister to come to a meeting,he told reporters. The question of diplomatic activity should always be whether it is going to contribute to a solution to the existing problems or not.Arab League foreign ministers agreed on the proposal at an August 20 meeting in Cairo.
The group said on its Web site that the plan for ending the conflict should be based on past U.N. resolutions as well as on the basis of land for peace, and through establishment of effective and specific mechanisms for the swift resumption of direct talks between the parties. The group wants the Security Council to supervise negotiations and set a target date for their completion, according to the Web site.Since the outbreak in July of the month-long war between Israel and Lebanon's Hizbollah, Annan has been pushing hard for international acknowledgment that a lasting peace would come in the region only if a comprehensive approach were taken.
All parties agree the Israeli-Palestinian issue remains the core of the conflict.
Ibrahim Gambari, the U.N. political affairs chief, told the council last week it should transform the tragedy of the Israeli-Hizbollah conflict into an opportunity ... to resolve the problems and issues in the region, which have confronted us, without resolution, for far too long.Events over the past year had led to a woeful decline in confidence in the peace process, he said, expressing concern this trend could fuel support for violence and terror on the Palestinian side and for harsh and excessive military actions and unilateral measures on the Israeli side.Positions may be hardening and could harden further unless a credible political process is somehow revived,he warned.© Reuters 2006.

Carrying Forward a Mideast Vision
Interview With Father David Jaeger
AUSTIN, Texas, AUG. 30, 2006 (Zenit.org).
Pope John Paul II had a vision for the Church in the Middle East that must be remembered, says Middle East expert Father David Jaeger. The Franciscan priest, new director of The Church and Israel Public Education Initiative, adds that if this vision is to be made a reality, it is necessary to implement the Fundamental Agreement.
In this interview with AsiaNews, the Israeli Franciscan comments on the formation of the new initiative that will seek to educate the
American public on Vatican-Israeli relations.
* * *
Q: It is now 14 years since the Fundamental Agreement was signed. How much has it been implemented so far?
Father Jaeger: The answer to this must be a complex and a cautious one. As is well known -- based on the Fundamental Agreement -- the Holy See and Israel signed on Nov. 10, 1997, a second significant treaty that was meant to guarantee recognition
by the state of Israel the legal personality of the Church, and of all Church bodies, from patriarchates to official associations of the lay faithful.
This was a very positive and hopeful development. It should likewise appear positive and reassuring that both agreements have been ratified and have entered into force on the international plane -- on March 10, 1994, and Feb. 3, 1999, respectively.
However, it must be admitted that neither agreement has been made into Israeli law, and specifically, most of all, that the Fundamental Agreement itself in spite of the many years that have passed since its signature and ratification has not been
made into Israeli law.
Even more perplexingly, the government itself as is well known by now has officially informed Israel's Supreme Court that it did not recognize the Fundamental Agreement as binding. This has made the agreement useless in practice, since the Church and Catholic organizations cannot rely on it in their day-to-day dealings with the state and society.
Notwithstanding the disillusionment that this has caused, we hope to inspire Catholics not to give way to despair, not to abandon John Paul II's vision as mere utopia, but instead to continue to support its preservation and implementation with determination, hope and courage. When all is said and done, the Catholic community in Israel cannot hope to survive meaningfully into the 21st century on the basis of an imprecise and unstable legal and social status that was out-of-date already in the 19th century!
Q: How does the Fundamental Agreement concern the universal Church?
Father Jaeger: The Christian presence in Israel, and throughout the Holy Land, is far from being simply a local Church, it is also a representation, as it were, of all the world's Christians who rightly regard the Holy Land as their spiritual homeland. This presence has therefore been historically guaranteed by a series of international treaties with the former Ottoman Empire, and by international
resolutions, which have, in effect, recognized its uniqueness and its consequent need for special safeguards.
The process of negotiations and agreements, started by the Fundamental Agreement and as yet unfinished is meant also to reconfirm and consolidate those earlier guarantees, in today's terms. This is a powerful additional reason for Christians everywhere to be more fully informed of this process, and to support it with conviction and perseverance.
Q: Why do you first and foremost address the United States?
Father Jaeger: The United States is Israel's closest and most influential friend, and Americans, including American Catholics, are overwhelmingly well-disposed toward the Israelis and interested in Israel. Israelis know that and appreciate it. Therefore, support by Americans for the normalization and development of Church-state relations in Israel is especially likely to be well-received in Israel.
Americans should be able to persuade Israelis that faithfulness to Israel's agreements with the Catholic Church will truly be to the benefit of both the Church and Israel. This is our approach. We hope that Americans, when properly informed of the hopes and needs of the relationship between the Church and Israel, will pro-actively make a positive contribution to this relationship.
We intend to address all Christians, since the development of the relationship between the Church and Israel should, in effect, interest and benefit all those who believe in Christ. Indeed I am looking forward to opportunities to cooperate with Jewish communities and organizations, and have already done so. American Catholics and Jews have an exceptionally close, friendly and collaborative relationship, which can turn out to be extremely significant in the context of the Church and Israel. Making a special reference to the United States, however, does not mean that we fail to put a high value on the possible role of Europe and Europeans. Many Europeans may now also be in a position to speak to Israel, and it may, therefore, be no less fruitful to extend our organization's modest activity to Europe as well.

EU troops fly into chaos of Kinshasa
By Mike Pflanz in Nairobi
Five hundred European Union troops arrived in Kinshasa yesterday as the city was gripped by savage fighting for a third day.The German and Dutch soldiers from a rapid reaction force found the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo echoing to the sound of small arms fire and the thump of heavy artillery.Smoke rises near Jean-Pierre Bemba's house Bodies were littering the streets after fighting between gunmen supporting rivals in the presidential election. The battles were fiercest in the upmarket suburb of Gombe, home to President Joseph Kabila and his principal rival, vice-president Jean-Pierre Bemba. Both men are contesting the presidency in the election's second round due on Oct 29.The clashes were raging between men loyal to former rebel leader Mr Bemba and Mr Kabila's presidential guard. They began when the president's forces apparently attacked Mr Bemba's residence. At least five people had died by Monday night and an unknown number of bodies lay in the streets yesterday.
The EU's rapid reaction force, which had been holding 1,200 troops in reserve in nearby Gabon, sent in special forces and helicopter-borne infantry.Mr Kabila responded by appealing for calm and publicly ordering all of his troops to return to barracks.
But the same order was given on Monday when fighting trapped 11 ambassadors, including Andrew Sparkes, the British envoy, in the cellar of Mr Bemba's house. It was not clear whether Mr Kabila's latest order made any difference or whether he gave the command purely for foreign consumption.Sources in Kinshasa said the order for the first attack on Mr Bemba's home came directly from Mr Kabila. The aides of both men met yesterday, apparently paving the way for the two rivals to meet. The fighting has dashed hopes for a peaceful election in the DRC, where a civil war has claimed 3.9 million lives since 1998 - mainly due to war-induced starvation and disease.
Until the gun battles broke out, the election had been peaceful and the United Nations, which already has 17,000 peacekeepers in the DRC, had claimed a qualified success.Jason Stearns, senior Africa analyst for the International Crisis Group in Nairobi, said: It's hard to imagine these two guys going head to head in a second round when you have bodies strewn around Kinshasa.
We need the troops from the presidential guard back in their barracks, which will encourage Bemba to scale down his personal protection force, we need a new security plan for Kinshasa and we need the two men to talk to each other.William Swing, head of the UN mission in the DRC, made a plea for calm and for both Mr Kabila and Mr Bemba to restrain their armed followers. It is imperative that the fighting ends immediately, he said. The two candidates must meet each other urgently for the well-being of the democratic process and above all for the Congolese population that has already suffered too much armed conflict.
Mr Bemba, who enjoys huge support in Kinshasa, has repeatedly whipped up popular sentiment against foreigners. He claims the West has chosen Mr Kabila as its favoured candidate and he believes it is determined to see the president re-elected.Mr Kabila won 44.8 percent of the 16.9 million votes cast nationwide on July 30, the first contested elections held in the DRC since independence from Belgium in 1960. Mr Bemba came second with 20.3 percent. Most airlines have now suspended flights to N'djili airport in Kinshasa.

Donors pledge Palestinians $500m(BBC)
Scores of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli action in Gaza International donors meeting in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, have promised $500m (£262m) in aid for the Palestinian territories. UN aid chief Jan Egeland, who warned that lack of aid had made Gaza a time bomb, welcomed the news but said a new peace process with Israel was vital. Palestinian aid has been hit since Hamas, which many Western countries say is a terrorist group, won power. On Thursday, donors pledged $940m of help to rebuild Lebanon. Reporting from Stockholm, the BBC's Alix Kroeger notes that donations for the Palestinian territories have been significantly less. Mr Egeland had earlier told the conference that the Palestinians needed at least as much aid and money as the Lebanese.
Earlier this year the US and European Union froze aid to the Palestinian Authority because of Hamas's refusal to renounce violence and recognise Israel. A limited flow was later restored though aid workers say it is not enough. One European official described the new money as a band aid for a deeper political problem, our correspondent says. It buys time and makes people's lives more tolerable, the official added, but it is not a solution.
Rock bottom
Swedish Aid Minister Carin Jamtin, the conference's host, hailed the donors pledges as a fantastic result. She said that $55m of the funds would go towards the UN's emergency appeal which was launched last year, but which has struggled to meet its target. A total of $114m would be spent on humanitarian aid, with the rest going towards the rebuilding of infrastructure and other projects, she added. Ms Jamtin was quoted by The Associated Press as saying that many Arab countries would channel their donations not via the UN but through the Arab League or directly to the Hamas-led Palestinian authorities.
The benefit of giving to the UN is that then we have a system for distributing the money, she added. Social tensions Mohammad Mustafa, an adviser to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the new aid would help save lives. Mr Egeland also hailed the pledges for the Palestinians: I hope that this conference here could represent some kind of a rock bottom for how deep we could sink in despair for the Palestinian territories and that we now move forward.Civil servants have not received their full wages for months He had told those attending the meeting that 1.4 million Palestinians were living in a cage with border crossings closed and
electricity and water shortages. In the 25 years he had been visiting the Palestinian territories, he said he had never seen so much hatred and bitterness as during his last visit and he urged both Israel and Palestinian militants to cease hostilities.
It's not only a question of more money... it's also a question of third parties going in and mediating a solution between the Palestinians and the Israelis, he said. Israel has been conducting military operations in the coastal Gaza Strip since Palestinian militants captured an Israeli soldier in June. More than 200 Palestinians have been killed while 11 Israeli civilians have been wounded by rocket fire from Gaza. Strike appeal :One aid worker who returned from Gaza 10 days ago warned in Stockholm that malnutrition was widespread and many new mothers were unable to breastfeed their babies. Unemployment is high, and in Gaza, the UN says nearly 80% of people live in poverty.
Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya has urged public sector workers in Gaza and the West Bank to abandon plans for an open-ended strike over the non-payment of their wages. He said Palestinians needed to remain united in difficult circumstances and he appealed to teachers to attend their schools at the start of the new academic year on Saturday. Mr Haniya was speaking after taking part in a clean-up of streets in Gaza City, where rubbish has piled up because of strikes by refuse collectors.
EU sets deadline for Iran over nuclear issue By Rex Merrifield and Ingrid Melander Sat Sep 2, 7:22 AM ET
LAPPEENRANTA, Finland (Reuters) -European Union foreign ministers agreed on Saturday to take two more weeks to try to clarify Iran's stance on halting sensitive nuclear work after Tehran ignored a U.N. deadline to stop uranium enrichment. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana will meet Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, in Europe early next week to clear up ambiguities in Tehran's 21-page reply to a major power offer of cooperation if it stops work that could help build a bomb.Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel told Reuters after the 25 ministers discussed the issue at a meeting in Finland: We give Solana two weeks for his clarification talks.Solana and other ministers insisted there was no deadline, but he said time was short and he would report to ministers at their next regular meeting on September 15.
He said he would be talking with Larijani also on behalf of the six powers which agreed on the package of economic, technological and political incentives -- the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany. An EU official said there could be consultations among United Nations Security Council members before then but the Council would not formally take up the matter.Iran defied an August 31 U.N. deadline to halt uranium enrichment and has given no sign it is prepared to meet the international community's key condition for opening negotiations on economic, technological and political cooperation.Asked when he now expected Tehran to comply with the U.N. resolution, Solana said: Yesterday.
IRAN DEFIANT
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad remained defiant on Saturday as U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan visited Tehran for talks on Lebanon and the nuclear dispute. Our nation is a supporter of peace but it will not retreat an iota from its right to nuclear technology, the ISNA student news agency quoted him as saying.EU diplomats said ministers wanted to take a bit more time not so much because they believed Tehran would have a change of heart but more to show public opinion and sceptical Security Council powers Russia and China they had explored every avenue. After what happened on Iraq and weapons of mass destruction, we really have to convince people that we have gone the extra mile, one said.Ministers declined to talk publicly about what sanctions they might apply if Tehran did not comply.
However, British Europe Minister Geoff Hoon said Iran had had plenty of time to respond to what he called the perfectly reasonable request and he had called for robust action.Despite our intensive efforts of the last six months, there has up to today unfortunately been no signal of reciprocity from Iran,German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told reporters. But he added: We in the EU and Germany have no interest in an escalation in the coming days and weeks due to deliberations in the Security Council.French Europe Minister Catherine Colonna said it was important to continue the dialogue with Tehran while reminding Iran of the international community's conditions. Asked how long Iran had to comply with the Security Council's demands on its nuclear programme, she said: Rendezvous in a few days. EU plans to hold talks with Hamas cause divisions
01.09.2006 - 20:07 CET | By Mark Beunderman
EUOBSERVER / LAPPEENRANTA EU foreign ministers meeting in Finland agreed that the bloc should take the lead in reviving the Israeli-Palestinian peace process but member states are divided over plans to hold talks with the Palestinian Hamas
movement. Finnish foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja said after informal discussions in the lakeside town of Lappeenranta on Friday (1 September) that ministers had demonstrated very big unanimity on the need for the EU to be engaged in the Middle East.
Ministers agreed that after a summer of intense violence in Lebanon, the bloc should take the lead in refocusing attention on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the EU's foreign policy chief Javier Solana declaring before the talks that I insist that we have to go back to the central theme. With the EU providing almost half of the troops in the UN's Lebanon force, the time is now ripe for the Europeans to push for a broader peace settlement in the region, diplomats said. The Americans are focused on the November elections in Iraq. They are not very engaged in the Israeli-Palestinian issue, said one source.
There is a general feeling that the EU is now the central player and that there is a new window of opportunity, Dutch foreign minister Bernard Bot said, adding that the EU as largest cash provider to the Palestinians should be a player not only a payer.
Divisions on Hamas
But behind the façade of unity on a more assertive EU role, important divisions exist on what strategy the bloc should follow towards the Islamist Hamas group which been leading the Palestinian government since it won elections earlier this year - but which also figures on the EU's list of terrorist groups.Just before the talks on Thursday, Mr Tuomioja appeared to propose a major EU policy change towards Hamas by suggesting that the bloc should open contact with the movement, telling German daily Financial Times Deutschland Hamas is not the same party it was before the elections. On Friday, however, Mr Tuomioja appeared to backtrack by saying that we have not changed our policy, adding that the EU would stick to its line that it will only talk with Hamas if it recognises Israel, renounces violence and respects past agreements.
But Mr Bot indicated that the line towards Hamas is under discussion, telling reporters that I see a shift towards the idea that we should include them [Hamas] in the game. But here I am tough. As far as the Netherlands is concerned they should recognise [Israel] first, he added. EU diplomats said that the possible formation of a Palestinian government of national unity, composed of both Hamas and the moderate Fatah movement of president Mahmud Abbas, could open the door for contacts with Hamas.
Whenever the government of national unity comes about, we will talk to them, said one contact explaining that such a government would have to be agreed upon by president Abbas - who supports the EU conditions put on Hamas.
Hopes are being put on more moderate forces within Hamas, who in June endorsed a document which supports the idea of a Palestinian state alongside Israel drawn up together with the rival Fatah faction.
Is the roadmap dead?
Meanwhile, ministers were not sure either how to deal with the 2003 Road Map, a plan agreed by international powers including the EU to establish a Palestinian state alongside Israel. Mr Tuomioja said that we do not need to reinvent the wheel. We have the Road Map, but Mr Bot said that the plan has meanwhile become a bit broke. German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that during travels in the Middle East he got the impression that referring to the roadmap is not very credible, but he added the EU should ontinue to work with elements of the plan.

* * *

Ernesto power outages climb Fri Sep 1, 6:35 PM ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Ernesto, downgraded to a tropical depression after a Thursday night landfall in North Carolina, left more than 243,000 utility customers from North Carolina to New Jersey without power late Friday. Utilities in the trail of Ernesto's wind and rain began restoring electricity on Friday while companies still in its path in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey stood by to begin work after the storm moves through. In Virginia, the storm hit the Dominion Resources service territory in the Tidewater area the hardest, a spokesman said. About 155,000 customers lacked electric service late Friday, down from 270,000 earlier in the day.
Crews began restoring power in the south as the storm moved northward. The worst of the weather is behind us,said Dominion spokesman Dan Genest.Dominion, like other utilities, starts restoring service to emergency facilities, critical infrastructure and locations that can return the largest numbers of customers first.Pepco Holdings Inc., which serves mid-Atlantic states, reported nearly 29,000 customers in Maryland and the District of Columbia without power late Friday due to Ernesto. More than 35,000 in Delaware and 5,000 in New Jersey were without power, according to utility Web sites.Exelon Corp.'s Pennsylvania unit, PECO, was bracing for outages overnight, the company said.Progress Energy Inc. said 19,000 customers were still without service in North Carolina late Friday. India rush troops, helicopters to flooded desert state Fri Sep 1, 2:04 PM ET
JAIPUR, India (AFP) - Troops and helicopters were deployed to India's northern desert state of Rajasthan to rescue trapped residents as monsoon rains flooded yet another district, officials said. Helicopters also dropped aid parcels to residents cutoff by road after heavy rains lashed the state's normally arid Jahalawar district in the desolate Thar desert, officials said.More than 150 people have already died and thousands left homeless in nearby Jodhpur and Barmer districts.Four villages are inundated and hence helicopters are now been deployed because of the distances here,an army spokesman said.Soldiers on powerboats were called in to the region to scour for residents who might need evacuating to higher ground as helicopters dropped food, milk and medicines to others.
He said the task was difficult given the huge size of the state's districts and isolation of some of its villages.Thirty-five people who clamored atop a hillock to escape the fast-rising waters were rescued Friday, state relief secretary R. K. Meena said in the state capital of Jaipur. The flood situation is grim but under control and there has been no human losses in Jahalawar,Meena said.
However he warned the state should remain on alert as dams threatened to overflow and rivers continued to burst their banks.
Lakes as wide as 10 kilometres (six miles) have formed, cutting sand dunes in half, amid warnings Rajasthan's non-porous gypsum rockbed could lead to an ecological catastrophe as accumulated water would not seep into the earth for months.
It's already a nightmare as we see from the geological point of view, said a spokesman from the state-run Central Arid Zone Research Institute, based in the flood-hit district of Jodhpur. The flash floods, caused by 10 days of heavy monsoon rains, have also killed tens of thousands of animals, whose bloated carcasses have raised fears of water-borne diseases, another state official said.
Flooding also damaged the Munnabao railway station, from where India's only train to Pakistan departs. The state's public works minister, Rajendra Singh Rathore, has put Rajasthan's financial losses at four billion rupees (86 million dollars). In Barmer, which had suffered a drought for the last six years, the rains initially brought cheer to parched villages, but now residents stranded on sand dunes are mourning lost family members and homes.

Iran: We won't give up nuclear program By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writers Fri Sep 1, 9:01 AM ET
TEHRAN, Iran -Iran underlined its disregard Friday for the U.N. deadline to halt uranium enrichment — now expired — when its president vowed never to give up its nuclear program and accused the West of misrepresenting Tehran's nuclear activities. Iran had until midnight Thursday to halt its enrichment activities or face the possibility of economic sanctions under a United Nations Security Council resolution passed July 31.Although the U.N. nuclear watchdog reported Thursday that Iran has not halted enrichment, thereby opening the way for punitive measures, U.S. and other officials said no action would be sought before a key European diplomat meets with Tehran's atomic chief next week to seek a compromise.
On Friday, in the first comments by an Iranian official since the deadline passed, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, told a rally, Exploitation of peaceful nuclear energy is our obvious right. We will never give up our legal right. The West's claim that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons is a sheer lie, state TV quoted him as telling the gathering in Maku, northwestern Iran.
The West basically opposes progress by Iran.Striking a more conciliatory note, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi urged the West to desist from taking hasty action, saying that the current situation underlined the need for talks with the Security Council's permanent members plus Germany, state TV reported Friday.
John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said the Security Council would wait to consider possible actions until European Union foreign policy chief, Javier Solana, met Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, sometime in the middle of next week. The EU reiterated on Friday its commitment to a diplomatic resolution.
For the EU, diplomacy remains the No. 1 way forward, said Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja, whose country holds the EU presidency. He said this is not the time or place for the international community to hit Iran with sanctions. Tuomioja spoke at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Finland.U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan also was expected to raise the issue during a visit to Tehran this weekend. But council permanent member Russia signaled its impatience with Iran Friday, saying it regrets Tehran's decision not to halt uranium enrichment by the deadline, according to reports by Russian news agencies. We share the position of (the International Atomic Energy Agency) and express our regret that Iran has not fulfilled Resolution 1696 by the designated date and refused to stop work on uranium enrichment, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin was quoted as saying.
Russia and fellow veto-wielding council member China have generally taken a back seat to other council members in the push to get tough with Iran on its nuclear programs. Trade sanctions could cut off badly needed oil exports to China and Iran is building a reactor with assistance from Russia. In the aftermath of the deadline, comments by a conservative Iranian cleric implied that Tehran may be counting on divisions within the council to avert sanctions. The U.S. supports sanctions, but we hope others will use their wisdom,Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said during his Friday prayer sermon. He described Russia and China as independent and said that Europe should be independent and not follow the U.S.
U.S. and European diplomats have said they are focusing on low-level punishment at first to win backing from Russia and China. Proposals include travel bans on Iranian officials or a ban on the sale of dual-use technology to Iran. Russia and China are expected to resist heavier measures, like trade sanctions.
Ahmadinejad denounced the United States Thursday, accusing it of applying a double standard to its foreign policy. They claim to be supporting freedom but they support the most tyrannical governments in the world to pursue their own interests, he told a crowd of thousands in the northwestern town of Orumiyeh. The Iranian nation will not succumb to bullying, invasion and the violation of its rights,Ahmadinejad said. In a report Thursday, the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed Tehran had not halted uranium enrichment and said three years of IAEA probing had been unable to confirm the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program because of lack of cooperation from Tehran. Iran denies it is trying to acquire atomic weapons in violation of its commitments under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. Tehran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, with the sole aim of producing electricity with nuclear reactors.
NUCLEAR WEAPONS WILL BE USED.

Israel, U.S. React to Continuing Iranian Uranium Enrichment
21:53 Aug 31, '06 / 7 Elul 5766
by Hana Levi Julian(INN)
Israeli officials met Thursday night and U.S. President George W. Bush had harsh words for Iran’s defiance to comply with the United Nations Security Council deadline to cease nuclear development. The United States called for the sanctions threatened by the U.N. Security Council earlier in the year to be imposed on Iran as the deadline ran out. It is time for Iran to make a choice, said United States President George W. Bush. Speaking at an American Legion veterans’ conference, President Bush said We’ve made our choice.
We will continue to work closely with our allies to find a diplomatic solution, but there must be consequences for Iran’s defiance. We must not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.
There was dissention among the ranks of the U.N, with most other member nations reluctant to commit to the course they threatened months ago.The European Union continues to maintain that only through diplomatic relations will Iran be persuaded to end its race toward nuclear energy. Russia and China have also expressed reservations about imposing sanctions on the Islamic Republic.President Ahmadinejad reiterated earlier in the week that the country’s lofty program would continue, ignoring the U.S.-led threats of international sanctions. In response, Bush said, We know the depth of suffering that Iran's sponsorship of terrorists has brought. And we can imagine how much worse it would be if Iran were allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Ahmadinejad has consistently said Iran’s uranium enrichment program is intended to produce nuclear energy solely for domestic purposes. Opposition factions in the country, however, maintain the goal is quite different, and IAEA inspectors have agreed.
The IAEA officials have continued to warn that some nuclear activities in Iran have nothing to do with domestic use. This includes the detection of experimentation with polonium-210, a substance used only in deep-space exploration and production of nuclear weapons. Iran does not have a deep space program.

Foreign ministers set for tough talks on Middle East, Iran
01.09.2006 - 09:51 CET | By Mark Beunderman
EUOBSERVER / LAPPEENRANTA - EU foreign ministers are gathering in a Finnish lakeside fortress to discuss strategy on the Middle East and Iran amid fresh and controversial plans by the Finnish EU presidency to open contact with the Palestinian Hamas movement. Ministers will arrive for a two-day informal meeting in the town of Lappeenranta on Friday afternoon (1 September), with the most contentious topic - the bloc's line on the Middle East on the agenda first.
Just before the talks on Thursday, Finnish foreign minister Erkki Tuomioja proposed a major EU policy change towards the Islamist Hamas movement which has been leading
the Palestinian government since earlier this year but which also figures on the EU's list of terrorist groups.
Hamas is not the same party it was before the elections, Mr Tuomioja told German daily FT Deutschland. We have to be able to talk to anyone who is relevant,he added. There are many ways of having contact ...nobody will start with press conferences and photo opportunities. The proposal is likely to face criticism from states which traditionally support Israel, such as Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. The public EU line on Hamas has so far been that official contacts with the group would be established only if Hamas recognises Israel, renounces violence and respects past agreements.
EU failure on Lebanon?
Strong exchanges of view are also expected on the EU's handling of the Lebanon crisis, following France's criticism of the bloc's failure to give EU foreign policy representative Javier Solana a stronger mandate to intervene. Europe was insufficiently active in the Lebanese crisis, although France had recommended on a number of occasions that the high representative be given a mandate to speak out on behalf of the 25 member countries, as he is doing on the Iranian issue, said French president Jacques Chirac earlier this week.
Helsinki has also signalled that it is not fully happy with the way the EU operated, with Mr Tuomioja writing to colleagues ahead of the Lappeenranta talks that I believe that it would be timely to evaluate the EU's role and our own working methods in order to see whether there is something we can do to enhance our impact.
Iran's defiance
On Saturday, foreign policy chief Solana will update ministers on the Iranian nuclear issue, ahead of a key meeting he is set to hold with Teheran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani in Berlin next week. Mr Solana's fresh attempts to find a diplomatic solution to the standoff comes despite Iran's failure to meet Thursday's UN Security Council deadline to suspend its uranium enrichment programme which international powers suspect is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. After next week's Solana-Larijani meeting, the permanent members of the UN Security Council - the US, the UK, France, China and Russia - as well as Germany will discuss possible sanctions against Teheran in Berlin on Thursday, with US president George W. Bush threatening consequences to Iran's defiance.
During the Lappeenranta meeting, ministers will try and define a common EU position on the sanctions option, strongly pushed for by Washington but disliked in Moscow and Beijing.
Russia: Finnish pragmatism
On Saturday afternoon, EU-Russia relations are on the agenda in Lappeenraanta, which itself is very near the Russian border and has shop signs in Russian, petrol trains running in from St Petersburg and old World War II-period fortifications against a Soviet invasion. Presidency sources said discussions will focus on Russia's development in the medium and long term, with Helsinki promoting a pragmatic and co-operative line vis-a-vis Moscow. The Finns share a long border with Russia and believe they have a unique historical experience in dealing with Moscow having been neutral in the Cold War. But Helsinki understands that other EU members, such as the Baltic states, have other experiences with the Russians which make it perhaps more difficult for them to co-operate.

MARK 13:22-23
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5,13
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

Devil in the detail: Vatican exorcises Harry Potter
Email Print Normal font Large font Linda Morris Religious Affairs Writer
September 1, 2006
THE Vatican has never been a fan of Harry Potter, but its chief exorcist has gone one step further and condemned J. K. Rowling's fictional boy wizard as downright evil.Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil, says Father Gabriele Amorth, the Pope's caster-out of demons. The books contained numerous positive references to the satanic art, falsely drawing a distinction between black and white magic, he told the Daily Mail in London. In the same interview, Father Amorth said he was convinced that Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler were possessed by the devil.
Last year the Pope, who was then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, described Harry Potter as a potentially corrupting influence. The Vatican's criticism comes as two Australian academics suggested a new generation of spiritual seekers was using popular fiction and medieval myth to reinsert magic and enchantment into their lives.Dr Lynne Hume and Kathleen McPhillip, editors of a collection of academic essays on popular spiritualities, said sacred religious texts were being superseded by medieval myths, comics and fantasy literature.J. R. R.Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and Terry Pratchett's Discworld series had all inspired interest in spiritual spin-offs.Pagans had borrowed from the Discworld series peopled by dwarfs, witches and fairies, while young men had shaped their living fantasies on comic book heroes and Star Wars narratives. Role-playing games of the 1990s such as Dungeons and Dragons spurred interest in acting out fictional characters and events.
The vampire subculture - bigger in the US than in Australia and splintering from the Goth movement of the 1970s - borrows more from Anne Rice's broody, immortal and powerful figure of Lestat in the Vampire Chronicles than Bram Stoker's figure of old. That subculture, Dr Hume said, consisted of vampire role players, but also people who believed they were vampires.Adam Possamai, a lecturer and researcher at the University of Western Sydney, said the two-in-one figure of Clark Kent and Superman was attractive because it mirrored conflicting impulses to conform or stand apart.Dr Hume said in the vampire subculture reality blurred with fiction.
Instead of making more attempts to fit in to society at large, many vampire fans exaggerate their difference.

12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
EZEKIEL 20:47
47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
ZEPHANIAH 1:18
18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
MALACHI 4:1
1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
REVELATION 8:7
7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.

LUKE 17:34-37
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

MATTHEW 24:37-51
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

1 TIMOTHY 4:1-2
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
