CARDINAL ANGELO SCOLA: Scola is seen as Italy's best chance at reclaiming the papacy, following back-to-back pontiffs from outside the country that had a lock on the job for centuries. He's also one of the top names among all of the papal contenders. Scola, 71, has commanded both the pulpits of Milan's Duomo as archbishop and Venice's St. Mark's Cathedral as patriarch, two extremely prestigious church positions that together gave the world five popes during the 20th century. Scola was widely viewed as a papal contender when Benedict was elected eight years ago. His promotion to Milan, Italy's largest and most influential diocese, has been seen as a tipping point in making him one of the leading papal candidates. He is known as a doctrinal conservative who is also at ease quoting Jack Kerouac and Cormac McCarthy.
___
CARDINAL PETER ERDO: Erdo is the son of a deeply religious couple who defied communist repression in Hungary to practice their faith. And if elected pope, the 60-year-old would be the second pontiff to come from eastern Europe — following in the footsteps of the late John Paul II, a Pole who left a great legacy helping to topple communism. A cardinal since 2003, Erdo is an expert on canon law and distinguished university theologian who has also striven to forge close ties to the parish faithful. He is increasingly seen as a compromise candidate if cardinals are unable to rally around some of the more high-profile figures like Scola or Scherer.
___
CARDINAL GIANFRANCO RAVASI: Ravasi, the Vatican's culture minister, is an erudite scholar with a modern touch — just the combination some faithful see as ideal for reviving a church beset by scandal and a shrinking flock. The 70-year-old is also one of the favorites among Catholics who long to see a return to the tradition of Italian popes. The polyglot biblical scholar peppers speeches with references ranging from Aristotle to late British diva Amy Winehouse. Ravasi's foreign language prowess is reminiscent of that of the late globetrotting John Paul II: He tweets in English, chats in Italian and has impressed his audiences by switching to Hebrew and Arabic in some of his speeches.
___
CARDINAL PETER TURKSON: Often cast as the social conscience of the church, Ghana's Turkson is viewed by many as the top African contender for pope. The 64-year-old head of the Vatican's peace and justice office was widely credited with helping to avert violence following contested Ghanaian elections. He has aggressively fought African poverty, while disappointing many by hewing to the church's conservative line on condom use amid Africa's AIDS epidemic. Turkson's reputation as a man of peace took a hit recently when he showed a virulently anti-Islamic video, a move now seen as hurting his papal prospects. Observers say those prospects sank further when he broke a taboo against public jockeying for the papacy — saying the day after Benedict's resignation announcement that he's up for the job "if it's the will of God."
___
CARDINAL TIMOTHY DOLAN: Dolan, the 63-year-old archbishop of New York, is an upbeat, affable defender of Catholic orthodoxy, and a well-known religious figure in the United States. He holds a job Pope John Paul II once called "archbishop of the capital of the world." His colleagues broke with protocol in 2010 and made him president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, instead of elevating the sitting vice president as expected. And during the 2012 presidential election, Republicans and Democrats competed over which national political convention the cardinal would bless. He did both. But scholars question whether his charisma and experience are enough for a real shot at succeeding Benedict.
___
CARDINAL LEONARDO SANDRI: Leonardo Sandri, 69, is a Vatican insider who has run the day-to-day operations of the global church's vast bureaucracy and roamed the world as a papal diplomat. He left his native Argentina for Rome at 27 and never returned to live in his homeland. Initially trained as a canon lawyer, he reached the No. 3 spot in the church's hierarchy under Pope John Paul II, the zenith of a long career in the Vatican's diplomatic service ranging from Africa to Mexico to Washington. As substitute secretary of state for seven years, he essentially served as the pope's chief of staff. The jovial diplomat has been knighted in a dozen countries, and the church he is attached to as cardinal is Rome's exquisite, baroque San Carlo ai Catinari.
___
CARDINAL LUIS ANTONIO TAGLE: Asia's most prominent Roman Catholic leader knows how to reach the masses: He sings on stage, preaches on TV, brings churchgoers to laughter and tears with his homilies. And he's on Facebook. But the 55-year-old Filipino's best response against the tide of secularism, clergy sex abuse scandals and rival-faith competition could be his reputation for humility. His compassion for the poor and unassuming ways have impressed followers in his homeland, Asia's largest Catholic nation, and church leaders in the Vatican. Tagle's chances are considered remote, as many believe that Latin America or Africa — with their faster-growing Catholic flocks — would be more logical choices if the papal electors look beyond Europe.
___
CARDINAL ANDRES RODRIGUEZ MARADIAGA: To many, Maradiaga embodies the activist wing of the Roman Catholic Church as an outspoken campaigner of human rights, a watchdog on climate change and advocate of international debt relief for poor nations. Others, however, see the 70-year-old Honduran as a reactionary in the other direction: Described as sympathetic to a coup in his homeland and stirring accusations of anti-Semitism for remarks that some believe suggested Jewish interests encouraged extra media attention on church sex abuse scandals. Maradiaga, the archbishop of Tegucigalpa, is among a handful of Latin American prelates considered to have a credible shot at the papacy.
___
CARDINAL ANGELO BAGNASCO: The archbishop of Genoa, Bagnasco also is head of the powerful Italian bishops' conference. Both roles give him outsized influence in the conclave, where Italians represent the biggest national bloc, and could nudge ahead his papal chances if the conclave looks to return the papacy to Italian hands. At 70 years old, Bagnasco is seen as in the right age bracket for papal consideration. But his lack of international experience and exposure could be a major liability.
___
CARDINAL SEAN PATRICK O'MALLEY: As archbishop of Boston, O'Malley has faced the fallout from the church's abuse scandals for nearly a decade. The fact he is mentioned at all as a potential papal candidate is testament to his efforts to bring together an archdiocese at the forefront of the abuse disclosures. Like other American cardinals, the papal prospects for the 68-year-old O'Malley suffer because of the accepted belief that many papal electors oppose the risk of having U.S. global policies spill over, even indirectly, onto the Vatican's image. O'Malley is among the most Internet-savvy members of the conclave.
It is not true that the College of Cardinals is split in half: in fact, according to the Vatican spokesman father Federico Lombardi, yesterday the Cardinals voted with a very large majority ("approximately ten to one") to open the Conclave that will elect the successor of Pope Benedict XVI next Tuesday.During his usual briefing at the Vatican, the Vatican spokesman joked with reporters: "I'm sorry that we are approaching the end of this period of daily meetings", and he immediately refuted the rumours of divisions and fractures among the Cardinals who will enter the Conclave next week.Lombardi explained that during yesterday afternoon's General Congregation (the eighth since the beginning of the sede vacante), the Dean of the Sacred College Cardinal Angelo Sodano immediately began the process of voting on the Conclave's beginning date. And already at the first vote there was an overwhelming majority in favour of Tuesday the 12th, stressed the spokesman. The Director of the Vatican Press Office also gave some information on the calendar of events for the upcoming days: it all starts in the afternoon of March 11th with the oath of the auxiliary staff of the Conclave in the Pauline Chapel; then on March 12th the Cardinals will move to Domus Sanctae Marthae before the mass "Pro Eligendo Romano Pontifice " at 10 AM in St. Peter's basilica. Then, in the afternoon, there will be the entrance of the electors in the Sistine Chapel for the opening rites: the sermon by the Augustinian Maltese Cardinal Prosper Grech and the "extra omnes". Finally, with the consent of the Cardinal-electors, the first vote.During the days of the Conclave, the production of smoke from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, installed today, is forecasted at about 7 PM and at about 12noon. But, if the election happens after the first of the two votes that take place each morning and afternoon, then the white smoke could be seen mid-morning (10:30-11:00 AM) or mid-afternoon (05:30-06:00 PM).The Commission that must seal the entrances to the Conclave was established today and is composed of the Camerlengo, Cardinal Bertone, the Substitute of the Secretariat of State, Mgr. Becciu, and by members of the Swiss Guard and the Gendarmerie. After the successful election and the announcement of the name from the Loggia, father Lombardi assumes that there will be at least a 40 minutes wait or more. There are in fact two important rites to accomplish: the acceptance by the elected, and the Declaration of obedience and loyalty by the Cardinals. Smoke and bells will announce the new Pope before the greeting from the Basilica's central Loggia. Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon, this morning and next Monday during the last General Congregation, the Cardinals' speeches will continue. Before the entrance into the Sistine Chapel, there will have been a total of about 150 of them, said Lombardi, who, for the first time, explicitly said that among the topics on the table was "the work of the Curia and its improvement".And with the Conclave approaching, the destruction of the seals and of the Papal ring took place. In total, Lombardi explained, five objects were ‘biffati’ (scratched out) with a cross-shaped marking: the "Pope's Fisherman's ring", its reproduction to stamp documents, two stamps of different dimension, and the master lead seal of the pontificate that is used for papal bulls. The new "Fisherman's ring" will be the like the one that was destroyed but, of course, it will have the inscription of the new pontiff's name. Finally, the Vatican spokesman spoke in defence of Cardinal Giuseppe Calcagno, President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See: he, recalled Lombardi, was proclaimed innocent both by the Church and by ordinary justice.

Collegiality and the reform of the Curia. It had never happened before that so many Cardinals were asking for a change of direction in the management of the Vatican curial "machine"
and were taking on the issue of the organization of dicasteries, their coordination, and their connection with the Episcopal Conferences. This means that the new Pope, whoever he may be, will hardly be able to ignore these signals, which are a consequence of the not-so-positive recent experiences in relations between Rome and the episcopacies.
The discussion about this has been frank but brotherly. In recent days, several important cardinals have tackled the issue without beating around the bush by asking about the Vatileaks dossier and talking about the need for a change of course in the management of the Curia and of the Secretariat of State. Responses to first request were not exhaustive, because Pope Benedict ruled that the "Relatio" prepared by Cardinals Herranz, Tomko and De Giorgi will be delivered to his successor. But the three investigators have provided some information to Cardinals looking to shed light on the issue during face-to-face talks. With regards to the Curia, both before and after the presentation of some proposals by Cardinal Coccopalmerio, other Cardinals said they believe that there could be no futher delays to the reform that Benedict XVI said (as an aside during the Ash Wednesday ceremony) he regretted he had failed to implement.Voices in favour of a different management of the Curia and of some reforms came from the German Walter Kasper, from the Austrian Christoph Schönborn, from the Hungarian Peter Erdö, from the Peruvian Jean Luis Cipriani Thorne, from the French André Vingt-Trois, the Spanish Antonio MarÃa Rouco Varela, the Indian Ivan Dias, and the Slovenian Franc Rodé. The need for a change of pace, for greater collegiality, for a Pope who is less isolated and less shielded by the Secretariat of State are elements which will carry some weight during the conclave.
Some Cardinals, such as Camillo Ruini and Stanislaw Dzwisz, tried to draw an identikit of the future Pope, while others, such as Angelo Scola, spoke more generally about the nature of the Church or spoke, as Angelo Bagnasco did, on the theme of truth.Yesterday, during the eighth congregation, the Cardinals also tackled many topics: interreligious dialogue and in particular the dialogue with islam, a theme that was handled on Monday, for example, by an African cardinal who spoke about it in realistic terms, far from idyllic and "sentimental" views. There has been debate about the challenges of bioethics, which have become a full-fledged "social" challenge, as Benedict XVI wrote in the Encyclical "Caritas in veritate". Once again there was talk about evangelization, and about the "joyous announcement of God's love and mercy", and about a church that is close to where people live: a theme addressed yesterday morning by the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Mario Bergoglio. Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe also spoke about evengelization. For the celebration of the 8th March, the Cardinals also addressed the issue of the role of women in the Church: a topic about which the Italo-Argentine Cardinal Leonardo Sandri had released a few statements. And yesterday there was also talk about the importance of the laity in the new evangelization, a topic touched on in particular by the Portuguese Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins. Other recurring themes were that of Justice and of the fight against poverty, and of a greater presence of the Holy See in the international arena. The "work site" of the new evangelization, left open by Benedict XVI, remains fundamental. Therefore, to use the words of the historian Alberto Melloni, there is no need for a "sheriff" Pope nor a "manager" Pope. Instead, there is the need for a shepherd Pope who can show the smiling and merciful face of God to contemporary women and men. And who, through appropriate collaborators, can also renew the face of the Roman Curia to ensure more collegiality. After almost a week of meetings, the proposals on the table are getting clearer and the nominations are consolidated. But, at the moment, several Cardinals still have the impression of facing a not-so-simple conclave. Thus, the repetition of the "miracle" of the election of a new Pope in only 24 hours appears difficult.
The Ghanaian Turkson, the Guinean Sarah, the South African Napier, and the Congolese Monsengwo Pasinya. The African continent presents four credible names. However, in the conclave, Africa can count more on the quality of "papabili" candidates than on the quantity of voters (just 11 compared to 60 from Europe and 33 from the Americas). "Sarah's profile is one that is ideal for the Papacy: it combines pastoral experience at home and internationally in the Curia", says Father Bernardo Cervellera, Director of AsiaNews, the agency of the Pontifical Institute for foreign missions. Sarah has been Bishop in Africa, prisoner of war and now is head of the dicastery at the Vatican. He took the place of Etchegeray as "the man of the impossible papal missions" in the diplomatic and humanitarian fields from Lebanon to Southeast Asia. He is also held in high esteem by Obama and has chances as an "outsider".
In short, a "black Wojtyla" who is able to unite foreigners, the Curia and the White House just as the spiritual father of Solidarnosc did in 1978. Two years ago, at the Rimini Meeting, he won everybody over with his communicative ability and charisma. Certain sectors of the ecclesiastical hierarchy have reservations about the "young" Church of the dark continent; it is feared that the Cardinals may be surrounded by ethnic clans and unclear situations.Joseph Ratzinger didn't think so when, as Cardinal in 2004, he told a German tv: "We are ready for a black Pope". And during his travels, he defined Africa as the "spiritual lung of the world". In short: a viable hypothesis. Moreover, the election of a black Pope wouldn't be a unique event (at least according to tradition). In fact, Gelasius I, Pope from 492 to 496, was a "romanus natus" (roman citizen).
But, according to the Liber Pontificalis, he was "natione afer" (African by birth). And for this reason, he is referred to as a native of Africa, specifically of Cabilià (Algeria). His skin was as dark as coal. Now, history can repeat itself. African Americans are also cheering for a non-European, but not for Dolan O'Malley. In the Bronx, a group of Catholics of Ghanaian origin prays that their compatriot Turkson will emerge from the conclave. "It would be very significant", said Ursulu Essifie of the Church of St. Margaret Mary in Mont Hope, a parish that was visited by the Cardinal in 2005: "He is someone who knows how to bring people together".The numbers, explains sociologist Massimo Introvigne (OSCE representative against the discrimination of Christians) "are in favour" of the black Pope because "if the Church grows, it is due especially to Africa where Christians have surpassed Muslims". A "caput nigrum" for the Church.
The prophecy of the Popes by Malachy lists 112 short phrases in Latin that purport to describe all the Popes from Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) to a Pope yet to come, described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end with the destruction of Rome and the last judgment.According to the list, the last Pope should arrive after the one called "de gloria olivae", a Pontiff who, following the chronology, should be Benedict XVI. But a lost prophecy says that between Benedict XVI and the last Pope there should be another one, a "caput nigrum", a dark-skinned Pope. Turkson himself said at the Synod for Africa: "There is no reason why the Church cannot one day have a Pope of color, after all, we already have other notable cases (Kofi Annan, Barack Obama) and when a priest is ordained, the package includes his willingness in the future to be Bishop and perhaps Pope."The white smoke leaves room for every possibility, even for an unexpected name (like that of a Pope of color). Back in 1978, nobody had predicted Wojtyla's arrival from Eastern Europe. Now the surprise could come from the South of the world.
ISAIAH 14:12-14
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer,(SATAN) son of the morning!(HEBREW-CRECENT MOON-ISLAM) how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I (SATAN HAS EYE TROUBLES) will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.(AND 1/3RD OF THE ANGELS OF HEAVEN FELL WITH SATAN AND BECAME DEMONS)
REVELATION 12:5-9
3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
4 And his tail (SATANS)drew the third part of the stars of heaven,(1/3RD OF ANGELS FELL WITH SATAN AT THE FALL WHO ARE DEMONIC FALLIN ANGELS-DEMONS) and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman (ISRAEL) which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.(SATANS LAST HOLOCAUST TO TRY TO DESTROY ISRAEL FOREVER)
5 And she brought forth a man child,(MARY DID-JESUS WHO IS(JEWISH) who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
6 And the woman (MARY WHOS JEWISH REPRESENTING ISRAEL)fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.(3 1/2 YRS)
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
JUDE 10-13 (HERES FALSE PASTORS)
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
MATTHEW 10:32-33
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me(JESUS) before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me (JESUS)(AND MY WORD THE BIBLE) before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
NOW WHY WOULD I POSSIBLY PUT THE USELESS UNITED NATIONS STORY ABOUT ALIENS WITH THE NEXT POPE.WELL TOM HORN BELIEVES THE VATICAN WILL-LIKE THE UNITED NATIONS HAVE AN ALIEN DEPARTMENT INCLUDED IN IT UNDER THIS LAST POPE.HORN EVEN SAYS THAT IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE IN ALIENS UNDER THIS VATICAN CATHOLIC DECREE YOU WILL BE CLASSIFIED AS A HERETIC AND A FALSE CATHOLIC. HORN SAYS THEN THE WORLD GOVERNMENT PEOPLE WILL DO A FALSE FLAG ALIEN LANDING TO BRING ABOUT WORLD GOVERNMENT.SO THE WHOLE WORLD WILL COME TOGETHER AS ONE DUE TO THE ALIEN UFO LANDING.

Top contenders to be the next pope
By | Associated Press – 2 hrs 28 mins ago MAR 10,13
VATICAN CITY (AP) — Cardinals from around the world gather this week in a conclave to elect a new pope following the stunning resignation of Benedict XVI. In the secretive world of the Vatican,
there is no way to know who is in the running, and history has yielded
plenty of surprises. Yet several names have come up repeatedly as strong
contenders. Here is a look at who they are:
___CARDINAL ANGELO SCOLA: Scola is seen as Italy's best chance at reclaiming the papacy, following back-to-back pontiffs from outside the country that had a lock on the job for centuries.
___
CARDINAL ODILO SCHERER: Scherer
is known for prolific tweeting, appearances on Brazil's most popular
late-night talk show and squeezing into the subway for morning commutes.
Brazil's best hope to supply the next pontiff is increasingly being
touted as one of the top overall contenders. At the relatively young age
of 63, he enthusiastically embraces all new methods for reaching
believers, while staying true to a conservative line
of Roman Catholic doctrine and hardline positions on social issues such
as rejection of same-sex marriage. Scherer joined Twitter in 2011 and
in his second tweet said: "If Jesus preached the gospel today, he would
also use print media, radio, TV, the Internet and Twitter. Give Him a
chance!" Scherer became the Sao Paulo archbishop in 2007 and was named a
cardinal later the same year.
___
CARDINAL MARC OUELLET: Canada's
Ouellet once said that being pope "would be a nightmare." He would know,
having enjoyed the confidence of two popes as a top-ranked Vatican
insider. His high-profile position as head of the Vatican's office for
bishops, his conservative leanings, his years in Latin America
and his work in Rome as president of a key commission for Latin America
all make him a favorite to become the first pontiff from the Americas.
But the qualities that make the 68-year-old popular in Latin America —
home to the world's biggest Catholic population — and among the
cardinals who elect the pope
have contributed to his poor image in his native Quebec, where
ironically he was perceived during his tenure as archbishop as an
outsider parachuted in from Rome to reorder his liberal province along
conservative lines.
___CARDINAL PETER ERDO: Erdo is the son of a deeply religious couple who defied communist repression in Hungary to practice their faith.
___
CARDINAL JORGE MARIO BERGOGLIO:
Bergoglio, 76, has spent nearly his entire career at home in Argentina,
overseeing churches and shoe-leather priests. The archbishop of Buenos
Aires reportedly got the second-most votes after Joseph Ratzinger in the
2005 papal election, and he has long specialized in the kind of
pastoral work that some say is an essential skill for the next pope. In a
lifetime of teaching and leading priests in Latin America,
which has the largest share of the world's Catholics, Bergoglio has
shown a keen political sensibility as well as the kind of self-effacing
humility that fellow cardinals value highly. Bergoglio is known for
modernizing an Argentine church that had been among the most
conservative in Latin America.
___CARDINAL LEONARDO SANDRI: Leonardo Sandri, 69, is a Vatican insider who has run the day-to-day operations of the global church's vast bureaucracy and roamed the world as a papal diplomat.
___
CARDINAL CHRISTOPH SCHOENBORN: Schoenborn
is a soft-spoken conservative who is ready to listen to those espousing
reform. That profile could appeal to fellow cardinals looking to elect a
pontiff with the widest-possible appeal to the world's 1 billion
Catholics. His Austrian nationality may be his biggest disadvantage:
Electors may be reluctant to choose another German speaker as a
successor to Benedict. A man of low tolerance for the child abuse
scandals roiling the church, Schoenborn, 68, himself was elevated to the
upper echelons of the Catholic hierarchy after his predecessor resigned
18 years ago over accusations that he was a pedophile.
___
CARDINAL MALCOLM RANJITH: Benedict XVI
picked the Sri Lankan Ranjith to return from Colombo to the Vatican to
oversee the church's liturgy and rites in one of his first appointments
as pope. The choice of Ranjith in 2005 rewarded a strong voice of
tradition — so rigid that some critics regard it even as
backward-looking. Ranjith in 2010 was named Sri Lanka's second cardinal
in history. There are many strikes against a Ranjith candidacy — Sri
Lanka, for example, has just 1.3 million Catholics, less than half the
population of Rome. But the rising influence of the developing world,
along with the 65-year-old's strong conservative credentials, helps keep
his name in the mix of papal contenders.
___CARDINAL ANDRES RODRIGUEZ MARADIAGA: To many, Maradiaga embodies the activist wing of the Roman Catholic Church as an outspoken campaigner of human rights, a watchdog on climate change and advocate of international debt relief for poor nations.
Cardinals pray before conclave to choose new pope
By Philip Pullella | Reuters – 1 hr 16 mins ago MAR 10,2013
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Roman Catholic Cardinals prayed on Sunday for spiritual guidance ahead of a closed door conclave to choose a new pope to lead the Church at one of the most difficult periods in its history.Cardinals
will hold a last pre-conclave meeting on Monday to fine-tune a job
description for the man they think would be best-suited to lead a Church
hit by sexual abuse scandals around the world as well as allegations of
corruption in the Vatican itself. The 115 cardinals who will then take part in the
election from Tuesday took a day of rest from pre-conclave meetings to
celebrate Masses in Rome, either in the quiet of private chapels or in the grandeur of Rome's great cathedrals and basilicas."The conclave is just around the corner. Let us pray
that the Holy Spirit gives the Church a man who can lead her in the
footsteps of the great pontiffs of the past 150 years," said Cardinal Angelo Scola of Milan, at his Mass in Rome.Scola, 71, is considered the leading Italian candidate to succeed Pope Benedict,
who cast the 1.2. billion-member Church into uncertainty last month
when he became the first pontiff in six centuries to abdicate instead of
ruling for life."We need to make the right decision," Cardinal Odilo Pedro Scherer
of Sao Paulo, 63, who is considered Latin America's leading candidate,
said at his public Mass in a small, Baroque church packed with
well-wishers and reporters.Boston Cardinal Sean O'Malley asked God to "enlighten
the Church" so the cardinals would choose a pope to confirm everyone in
the faith.Other cardinals such as Manila's Luis Antonio Tagle,
who is considered a long-shot because of his relatively young age, 55,
kept a lower profile, mostly staying inside the walls of seminaries or
other religious institutions. At the Vatican, St Peter's Square was eerily quiet
without a pope for the second consecutive Sunday. The windows of the
papal apartments overlooking the square remained closed.Benedict, who is now "Pope Emeritus" and has no
residual authority over the Church, is at the papal summer retreat south
of Rome while his permanent residence in a Vatican convent is being
prepared."This is a time of overall crisis but also a time of
crisis in faith," Italian bishop Rino Fisichella told Italy's Tgcom24
television, adding that he hoped a new pope would appear from the window
next Sunday.
NON-EUROPEAN POPE?
The 115 cardinal electors under the age of 80 will enter the Sistine Chapel on Tuesday afternoon and hold one vote that evening. They will vote up to four times day thereafter until one of their number receives a two-thirds majority, or 77 votes. If a pope is not elected in two or three days it means that cardinals are probably severely divided and might have to turn to a dark horse candidate to find consensus. No conclave has lasted than more than five days in the past century. Pope Benedict was elected within barely 24 hours in 2005 after just four rounds of voting. But this time, no clear favorites have emerged to take the helm of the troubled Church."Prior to the last conclave, everyone recognized Ratzinger was the frontrunner on the day the conclave began. The same was true for Paul VI (in 1963) and Pius XII (in 1939)," said Father Tom Reese, Jesuit historian and author of "Inside the Vatican".Apart from Italy's Scola and Brazil's Scherer, others who have been mentioned the most are Canada's Marc Ouellet. U.S. cardinals such as O'Malley or Timothy Dolan of New York have also been cited as potential candidates. With the vast majority of Catholics now living outside Europe, there is growing pressure for a pontiff from another part of the world. Many observers believe a Latin American, Asian or African pope could bring attention to the poverty of the southern hemisphere in the same way the Polish-born John Paul put a spotlight on the East-West divide after he was elected in 1978.The Sistine Chapel has been readied to receive the sequestered cardinals, who will use stoves to tell the outside world whether or not they have chosen a new leader - black smoke signifying no decision and white smoke announcing a new pontiff. One stove, made of cast iron and used in every conclave since 1939, will be used to burn ballots. The second stove is an electronic one which will use electronically ignited flares to send out either white or black smoke.Workmen have built rows of tables where the cardinals will sit facing each under the gaze of Jesus in Michelangelo's massive Last Judgment panel on the wall behind the altar.(Additional reporting by Crispian Balmer, Tom Heneghan, Anna Valderama, Elly Biles and Naomi O'Leary; Editing by Alison Williams)

Lombardi: “A overwhelming majority immediately voted the date of the Conclave”
The “fumata” could be expected around 12:00pm or around 7:00pm. Monday the last General Congregation will be held
ALESSANDRO SPECIALE romeIt is not true that the College of Cardinals is split in half: in fact, according to the Vatican spokesman father Federico Lombardi, yesterday the Cardinals voted with a very large majority ("approximately ten to one") to open the Conclave that will elect the successor of Pope Benedict XVI next Tuesday.During his usual briefing at the Vatican, the Vatican spokesman joked with reporters: "I'm sorry that we are approaching the end of this period of daily meetings", and he immediately refuted the rumours of divisions and fractures among the Cardinals who will enter the Conclave next week.Lombardi explained that during yesterday afternoon's General Congregation (the eighth since the beginning of the sede vacante), the Dean of the Sacred College Cardinal Angelo Sodano immediately began the process of voting on the Conclave's beginning date.

"The Vatican must change"
Reforms and relations with bishops, the issues of the Congregations
andrea tornielli vatican cityCollegiality and the reform of the Curia.

A black Wojtyla, the Sistine Chapel outsider
Africa presents four credible names as ideal candidates to the papacy
giacomo galeazzi vatican cityThe Ghanaian Turkson, the Guinean Sarah, the South African Napier, and the Congolese Monsengwo Pasinya.

UN 'to appoint space ambassador to greet alien visitors'
A space ambassador could be appointed by the United Nations to act as the first point of contact for aliens trying to communicate with Earth.
Mazlan Othman, a Malaysian astrophysicist, is set to be tasked with
co-ordinating humanity’s response if and when extraterrestrials make
contact.Aliens who landed on earth and asked: “Take me to your leader” would be
directed to Mrs Othman. She will set out the details of her proposed new role at a Royal Society
conference in Buckinghamshire next week. The 58-year-old is expected to tell delegates that the proposal has been
prompted by the recent discovery of hundreds of planets orbiting other
stars, which is thought to make the discovery of extraterrestrial life more
probable than ever before.Mrs Othman is currently head of the UN’s little known Office for Outer Space
Affairs (Unoosa). In a recent talk to fellow scientists, she said: “The continued search for
extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that
some day human kind will received signals from extraterrestrials.“When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into
account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made
mechanism for such coordination.”Professor Richard Crowther, an expert in space law at the UK space agency who
leads delegations to the UN, said: “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing
we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person”.The plan to make Unoosa the co-ordinating body for dealing with alien
encounters will be debated by UN scientific advisory committees and should
eventually reach the body’s general assembly.Opinion is divided about how future extraterrestrial visitors should be
greeted. Under the Outer Space Treaty on 1967, which Unoosa oversees, UN
members agreed to protect Earth against contamination by alien species by
“sterilising” them.Mrs Othman is understood to support a more tolerant approach.
But Professor Stephen Hawking has warned that alien interlopers should be
treated with caution. He said: “I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the
resources from their home planet. The outcome for us would be much as when
Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very
well for the Native Americans.”

Mazlan
Othman is a Malaysian astrophysicist that will be the official
"Greeter" to any contacted species from space. Some people would argue
that this type of appointment should be the responsibility of a high
ranking official such as a president of some other world leader, but
this is a unanimous decision on the part of the united nations for this
job to be carried out by Othman. She does have a background in science
and other space related credentials like overseeing the Malaysian
national space program, and she saw over the training
and flight of Malaysia’s first astronaut. Mazlan Othmans job as within
UNOOSA includes possible issues that may involve space technology, and
the preparedness and protocols if an asteroid or comet was on a direct
collision course with Earth. One U.N. peer out of the UK, a Professor
Richard Crowther, said
“Ms. Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person”.Next I think I will touch on the Vatican and some of the things coming out of it.This story is even strange for me to read. It seems the Vatican's astronomer says he'd love to 'baptize an alien'. Yes... You read that correctly. He wants to baptize an alien if we make contact. Dr Consolmagno, is the curator of the little known Pope's meteorite collection, and he is a trained astronomer as well as a planetary scientist at none other than the Vatican's own private observatory.http://sify.com/news/vatican-s-astronomer-says-he-d-love-to-baptise-an-alien-news-international-kjsm4fbddfa.html

Lets see??? Where do I begin???
Seems to be a ton of new activity in high places in the regards to
alien life and human contact with these beings from beyond our world.Lets first look at the United Nations new appointed position to the
"United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs" and the naming of Mazlan
Othman to be Alien – UFO ambassador in case contact is made.

This
United Nations office is responsible for promoting international
cooperation in peaceful uses of outer space. UNOOSA is also going to be
responsible for the implementation of the Secretary-General's
responsibilities under all international space laws. It also will be
responsible for the United Nations Registry of Objects sent into Space
as well.

Dr
Guy Consolmagno, 57 who was speaking publicly at a British Science
Festival in Birmingham, also mentioned to the festivals attendants that
intelligent aliens may be living among the heavens and most likely are
to have souls. This is a profound statement for a Vatican official to
make openly on any measure of importance in the disclosure movement. The
implications of such a public verbal opening up and change in the
Catholic doctrines and views on the alien contact or existence issue is
mind boggling to say the least. Not to mention wanting to baptize
them. The idea of the existence of ET or life beyond our own world is not
a new one for the Vatican, but the idea that they want to bring the
them into the fold because they may have souls is definitely a landmark
idea from the Vatican.

There
are also some other tid bits that have come to the surface as of late,
such as the Churchill documents that state they covered up the entire
UFO issue in his day, to recent stories of the compromising of nuclear
missile sites by visiting UFO craft.

Those
two revelations are also just as important as the Vatican and UN
stories, but I feel that the fact that these are two of the mighty
pillars in our worlds eye view of things that they stand apart from many
other stories that also carry a very heavy weight with them. These are
not just a persons account of hearsay or some documents that may or may
not be able to be verified 100% as authentic. These are from the horses
mouth. If the United Nations and the Vatican are in a major change of
direction and policies towards first contact then I personally have to
stand up and take notice in a way that I and others have been waiting
for over a very long time. This could be the signals we have been
waiting for from the powers that be.
Could open contact and or full disclosure be around the corner for
mankind? Well??? It is starting to look like the idea of such things is
looking more plausible with these new developments from the two groups. So
what is next? That is the question now. We will have to sit back and
see how this plays out. It seems that the Vatican and the UN are
rallying into position and be prepared for contact and the possible
meeting of a new race with humans. Lets look at it realistically, world
wide organizations like these two would not hang themselves out there
for ridicule unless they have something up their proverbial sleeves and
are very sure that the move will be met with results to justify such a
controversial policy change of direction. In closing I just want to say I
really hope that the signs and signals that these two heavy weights are
sending turn out to be the real deal, and we finally make contact in a
full and open view for all to see.Herb Deary
