Princess Cristina is the second oldest child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía. She was born on June 13, 1965. She is currently 5th in line to the Spanish throne. Her full name is Cristina, Federica de Borbón y Grecia. In 1989 she graduated from the University of Madrid with a degree in Politics. In 1990 she graduated from the University of New York with a Master's degree in International Relations. While in New York City she worked with the United Nations. In 1988 she was a member of the Spanish Olympic Sailing team. On October 4, 1997, she married in Barcelona, where she and her family current live. Upon being married she was granted the title Duchess de Palma de Mallorca. Her son Juan was born in 1999 and her son Pablo was born in 2000. Her third son, Miguel was born in 2002. She is honorary chairman of the Spanish Committee of UNESCO (a part of the United Nations). She is also the chairman of the Princess Cristina foundation for the Physically and Mentally Handicapped. She personally has worked with handicapped individuals to teach them how to sail.

Clashes erupted Saturday morning between settlers and Palestinians from the village of Qusra, southeast of Nablus, when the Palestinians tried to prepare the land for farming using heavy machinery, the Ynet website reported.Tensions in the area are already high following the killing Friday of a Palestinian baby in a firebomb attack by suspected Jewish terrorists.Security forces were called to the site to separate the Palestinians and the settlers, who were from the Esh Kodesh outpost, Ynet said. During the confrontation, the Palestinians also fought with the troops and threw stones.The land is situated some 100 meters from the outpost’s perimeter fence, but the settlers claim that the land is attached to the outposts, and accused the Palestinians of provocation.The settlers said that the dispute was instigated by members of Rabbis for Human Rights and left-wing European activists, who accompanied local Palestinian residents to the site in order to carry out infrastructure work on the land, whose ownership is under dispute.Civil Administration officials are currently investigating whether the land falls in Area B, which is under joint Israeli and Palestinian security control and full Palestinian civilian jurisdiction, or Area C, which falls under complete Israeli control. The settlers claim that the land is owned by the State of Israel.Palestinian news agency Ma’an quoted Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, as saying that dozens of settlers from Esh Kodesh “descended on farmers in their fields between the outpost and Qusra.”Daghlas said the settlers had intended to scare away the Palestinian farmers and lead them to abandon their fields. Other Democrats have signaled they are leaning in favor and still others have remained undeclared, awaiting a vote in September.The deal, which curbs Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions smothering its economy, is not a traditional fight between the White House and Republicans, who control the House and Senate. This is about Obama, who has often been at odds with congressional Democrats, trying to cajole them just weeks after a divisive debate over trade.The president has talked to more than 80 lawmakers, either individually or in small groups, administration officials said. While most years have 12 full moons, this year has 13.Don't let the name fool you, though. Blue moons are very rarely blue. Most are pale gray and white, resembling a moon on any other night.A truly blue colored moon can occur on rare occasions, according to NASA, with most being spotted after volcanic eruptions. It's also possible Friday's moon could be red."Often, when the Moon is hanging low, it looks red for the same reason that sunsets are red, NASA explains. "The atmosphere is full of aerosols much smaller than the ones injected by volcanoes. These aerosols scatter blue light, while leaving the red behind."Step outside at sunset to check out the blue moon, then if you're so inclined, go ahead and celebrate by doing something you only do "once in a blue moon." You do have an excuse, after all.

NASA scientists have been left puzzled after finding what looks like a cosmic graffiti tag on the surface of one of Saturn’s icy moons.The strange red, curved lines were spotted in new images from NASA’s Cassini probe - and are thought to be fairly new.‘The red arcs really popped out when we saw the new images,’ said Paul Schenk of the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Houston. ‘It’s surprising how extensive these features are.’Scientists don’t know what the mysterious red lines are - they could be ice with chemical impurities, or caused by gas from within Tethys.‘The red arcs must be geologically young because they cut across older features like impact craters, but we don’t know their age in years,’ said Paul Helfenstein of Cornell University.‘If the stain is only a thin, colored veneer on the icy soil, exposure to the space environment at Tethys’ surface might erase them on relatively short time scales.’The Cassini team is currently planning follow-up observations of the features, at higher resolution, later this year.

Plagues of locusts are swarming large areas of southern Russia, threatening thousands of acres of crops and in some places darkening the skies.A video shot by a local man in Achikulak, a village in the Stavropol region, shows thousands of the bugs swarming towards a church. Other videos, screened by local TV channels, showed clouds of locusts flying overhead.“It was very frightening,” Lubov Timus, a local woman who lives in Achikulak, told ABC News. “Some were as big as your finger! They came like a clouds.” Locust Swarm 'Like the Plagues of Egypt' Descends Upon Madagascar's Capital-Plague of Locusts Hits California Town-The waves of locusts began around July 20, according to Stavropol’s regional agricultural ministry. Vasilii Yegorov, a deputy agricultural minister, told ABC News that locusts appear in the region every year but normally they are able to exterminate them before they hatch.This year though, Yegorov said, locusts had migrated from neighboring Russian regions, meaning authorities were unable to halt them easily, threatening what is one of Russia’s major farming areas.Swarms have been reported across many other southern regions, stretching from Chechnya to the Astrakhan province on the Caspian Sea. Because of the locusts, a state of emergency has been declared in three regions near Stavropol, according to local media. In Stavropol alone, efforts to kill the insects have stretched across more than 350 miles, according to officials.Yegorov said Stavropol authorities currently had the infestation under control and were spraying pesticide every day.

Saint-André (France) (AFP) - Plane debris that washed up on an Indian Ocean island is from a Boeing 777, Malaysian authorities said Friday, making it almost certainly the first piece of wreckage recovered from missing flight MH370.If confirmed by analysis of the debris -- which was being flown to Paris on Friday night from the French island of La Reunion -- the discovery would mark the first breakthrough in a case that has baffled aviation experts for 16 months.The Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared on March 8, 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. There were 239 people on board."I believe that we are moving closer to solving the mystery of MH370. This could be the convincing evidence that MH370 went down in the Indian Ocean," Malaysia's deputy transport minister Abdul Aziz Kaprawi told AFP.A commercial Air France flight carrying the debris was due to land at Paris' Orly airport on Saturday morning at around 6:00 am (0400 GMT). Johnny Begue and his friend were out looking for stones earlier this week on Reunion Island when he stumbled upon a piece of an airplane wing washed up on the sand."I asked my friend to come help pick it up. First we thought that we'd use it as a piece of decoration and then we thought because it's a piece of plane, we should probably call the police,” Begue, 46, told ABC News today.The piece was discovered on Wednesday by Begue and may be the first item anyone has seen of the doomed Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared in March 2014 with 239 people on board. Investigators are treating the airplane part, believed to be a "flaperon," as a major lead into the disappearance of the plane.Based on a part number that was visible in pictures, Boeing workers believe it came from a 777, the same type of plane as MH370, according to a U.S. official. MH370 is the only missing 777 jet in the world.Begue is still getting used to the significance of the find."I feel like maybe it's God that sent me, I was just looking for a stone and now I think maybe God sent me so that the people that have lost their loved ones can grieve properly".In the wake of the discovery, a tattered piece of luggage on the same beach.The origin of the piece of luggage has not been determined, but it was seized by local police for examination.French officials said the plane part will arrive over the weekend in Toulouse, where it will undergo analysis next week.ABC News' Sifiso Khanyile contributed to this report.
