The Permanent Council: - Considering the Statement of 31 March 2010, by which the States Parties to the modified Brussels Treaty tasked the WEU Permanent Council to organise the cessation of activities of the Organisation in accordance with the period prescribed by the Treaty, preferably by the end of June 2011 - Recalling that the cessation of activities of the Organisation will be effective from 30 June 2011; - Noting that the cessation of WEU activities creates obligations which will be carried out as from 1 July 2011 ; - Considering that it is incumbent upon the Permanent Council to ensure the support of these residual administrative obligations by another legal entity, particularly the WEU’s residual obligations with respect to its staff; - Considering that Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom agree that they shall, under international law, be jointly liable for fulfilling the residual administrative obligations of the WEU and that, to this extent, they will assume jointly the rights and obligations of the WEU; - Considering that it is in the interest of the staff of the WEU and the States Parties that the execution of the remaining WEU obligations with respect to personnel is ensured by a legal entity, acting in its own name on behalf of the States Parties - Considering that the States Parties and Member States of the European Union have jointly identified the European Union Satellite Centre as the legal entity to which shall be transferred the residual administrative obligations arising from the dissolution of the WEU - Having regard to the Decision of the European Union Council under 2011/297/CFSP dated 23 May 2011;

From 1 July 2011, on behalf of the States Parties, the following residual administrative activities will be transferred to the European Union Satellite Centre: a) the management of pensions of former WEU staff members; b) the management of the WEU Social Plan 2010; c) the resolution of any dispute between the WEU and former WEU staff members and the implementation of decisions by the competent Appeals Board; d) support for the liquidation of WEU goods and services. 2. Before 30 June 2011, the WEU will enter into an administrative agreement or arrangement with the European Union Satellite Centre to ensure the implementation of European Union Council Decision 2011/297/CFSP of 23 May 2011. 3. Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom (hereinafter called "the Ten") recognise that they will be jointly responsible, including financially, to the extent of the key governing mandatory contributions to the WEU, vis-à-vis the European Union Satellite Centre, with respect to the WEU residual administrative obligations specified in paragraph 1 of this Decision, particularly in view of Article 40 of the WEU Pension Rules. 4. The States Parties agree for this purpose to establish a start-up Fund of EUR 5.3 million in order to secure the timely payment of contributions required for the execution by the European Union Satellite Centre of the obligations arising out of the European Union Council Decision 2011/297/CFSP of 23 May 2011 and contained in this Decision. The start-up Fund is made up of the contributions from the States Parties, calculated according to the scale of WEU budget contributions in force on 30 June 2011. The States Parties shall be required to pay initial contributions to the Fund before 30 June 2011 for a total of 20% of the amount mentioned above. 5. Any decisions regarding residual administrative activities identified in paragraph 1 of this Decision shall be taken unanimously by the Board of the European Union Satellite Centre consisting of one representative appointed by each of the Ten in accordance with Article 23a § 6 of European Union Council Joint Action 2001/555/CFSP, as amended by European Union Council Decision 2011/297/CFSP of 23 May 2011. The first meeting of the Board shall be convened upon the entry into force of this Decision by the State Party holding the chairmanship of the WEU Permanent Council. The Ten shall each appoint a representative and deputy to the Board. 6. This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption. It remains valid as long as there are obligations under the provisions contained herein.

BofA to exit Canada, Europe credit card business

NEW YORK/CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp plans to sell its credit card business in Canada to TD Bank Group and will exit the rest of its international card business, the bank said on Monday.TD Bank's agreement with Bank of America, the largest U.S. bank by assets, covers an $8.6 billion card portfolio, according to a Bank of America statement. It did not disclose the value of the transaction.TD Group said it will pick up 1.8 million active card accounts from the deal and that it would pay a modest premium for the card receivables.Bank of America also said it would exit its United Kingdom and Ireland card businesses. It has not made a decision on the future of those businesses, which it may wind down or sell, a spokesman said.The move effectively ends Bank of America's consumer banking operations overseas, and comes as it seeks ways to bulk up its capital cushion.
The bank is fighting lawsuits and credit problems related to its ill-fated acquisition of home mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp three years ago as the U.S. housing bubble burst.The bank has lost more than $22 billion in its consumer mortgage division in the last four quarters. It agreed in June to pay $8.5 billion to mortgage securities investors and is fighting numerous lawsuits challenging the settlement and other mortgage issues.The sale was not a reaction to analyst estimates over the last week that the bank would need to raise capital to absorb those losses, said Bank of America spokesman Jerry Dubrowski. The reports sent its shares down by 20 percent last Monday.Bank of America said the deal would have a positive effect on its capital levels. Politicians all over the world are now openly calling for a new global currency to replace the U.S. dollar in international trade. In fact, we are already seeing a shift away from the dollar in many areas of the globe. A decade ago, the U.S. dollar made up approximately 70% of all foreign exchange reserves around the world. Today, that figure is down to about 60%, and it continues to fall. As the debt problems of the U.S. government get even deeper, and as the U.S. dollar loses even more strength, the calls for a truly global currency are going to grow even louder.Right now, the global financial system is still based on the U.S. dollar to a very large degree. But dissatisfaction with the status quo is growing around the world. Despite the closeness of the race and the immense political ramifications of a candidate labeled by the corporate media as part of fringe politics finishing neck-to-neck with the insincere Bachmann, Reuters decided to write about Rick Perry’s insignificant, meaningless, though establishment approved, entry into the GOP 2012 race instead. The leaders of France and Germany are meeting on Tuesday in a further attempt to stem the eurozone debt crisis following last week’s strong market turbulence, but Berlin has ruled out any mutualisation of euro countries’ debt.The German parliament is to discuss the latest eurozone plans in September (Jorge Franganillo)German chancellor Angela Merkel will travel to Paris to meet president Nicolas Sarkozy, who last week became the latest eurozone leader to feel the pressure amid speculation that France would be next to lose its top level credit rating.The markets will be closely watching the crisis meeting having picked holes in each of the eurozone’s hastily agreed solutions to date.But despite the intense scrutiny and pressure, it is unclear what major initiatives the two leaders can agree, with Merkel facing a parliament already rebellious about the second bailout for Greece agreed at a eurozone summit in late July.Ahead of the meeting, German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble rejected the creation of Eurobonds, which would pool the debt of eurozone countries.

According to a new study by Dr. Aviad Hacohen, Dean of the Shaarei Mishpat College, despite the talk by officials in Israel’s judicial system about the importance of Jewish law and its integration into the Israeli legal system, in practice no use is made of it and those who use it are looked down upon.Justice Minister Yaakov Ne’eman has called in the past to incorporate mishpat ivri (Jewish civil law) into Israel’s law procedures. He is the present-day representative of a long tradition in the religious Zionist sphere, of those who hoped for mishpat Ivri to be the law of the Land.These included Rabbi Kook, Rabbi Maimon and the hareidi-religious Rabbi Eliezer Waldenburg (the latter, in his book Hilchot Medinah, referred to it as atchalta d'Geulah, the start of the redemption, in the arising of our own state on part of our Holy Land, with our own independent government,page 8).While some criticized the idea, including opposition leader Tzipi Livni, others supported Ne’eman, including former Justice Minister Moshe Nissim, who is an observant Jew and son of a former Sephardic Chief Rabbi.There have also been calls to make Jewish monetary law a part of Israeli law. The values and ethics in mishpat ivri are seen as placing it a notch above precedent-based law, as Jewish civil law has the stated objective of building a healthy, caring and just society.But as Hacohen told Arutz Sheva on Sunday, the trend as can be seen from his research is a move away from Jewish law rather than toward it.The phenomenon of not using halakah is not a new phenomenon, he said, pointing out that there have been a few exceptions but that in general the Supreme Court does not heed Jewish law in its rulings.The problem, however, said Dr. Hacohen, is that not only is there no use of Jewish law in court rulings, but judges actually make fun of the Jewish law.
For example, he said, according to some guidelines that were distributed to judges, there is no need for an Israeli judge to have proven knowledge of Jewish law. He added that this is as evidence of a perception that judges who chose to rely on Jewish law may be not be promoted because of this fact.Dr. Hacohen said that this attitude permeates the legal system, as judges and other individuals with senior positions in the judicial system say that young students should not waste their time studying Jewish law since it has no real chance of being used.He brought another example of a judge who noticed that his friend was engaged in Jewish law and asked him, Why did you dive into the deep waters of the Jewish law?, or in other words: why are you engaged in something which has no real legal need? Dr. Hacohen pointed out that these and other examples go against the Israeli law which requires a judge to turn to halakhic sources, especially when making decisions concerning fundamental rights, which Israeli law states must be based on Israel’s Jewish and democratic values.There are judges who do quote Jewish civil law in their rulings, but they are becoming few and far between. This was a point of divergence between former Chief Justice Menachem Elon, who championed the use of Jewish civil law, and former Chief Justice Aharon Barak, who based his rulings on non-Jewish sources.It is out of this concern that the Shaarei Mishpat College, which Dr. Hacohen heads, has launched a graduate program that will approach and make use of Jewish law from the start and not in retrospect.Bar Ilan University's law department has mandatory courses in mishpat ivri as well as the opportunity for advanced degrees specializing in it. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has a Mishpat Ivri Research Institute, once headed by former Chief Justice Elon.

However, terrorists serving 10 to 15 years receive 6,000 shekels, the ones serving 15 to 20 years receive 10,000 shekels, and those serving 20 to 30 years get 12,000 shekels. These are people who planned, directed and took part in the intentional sadistic slaughter of civilian men, women and children, at point blank range.Since some of the victims of PA terror are American citizens, the information means that US taxpayers pay monthly salaries to the people who murdered their fellow citizens. Israel and the terror entity Hamas have resumed negotiations over the release of Gilad Schalit, according to Al Hayat, a London-based Arabic newspaper. Schalit has been held incommunicado by Hamas for over five years.The newspaper reports that Israel's emissary, David Meidan, and Hamas terror chief Ahmed Jaabari will probably arrive at the Egyptian Intelligence Headquarters Monday and conduct indirect negotiations. Hamas and Israeli delegations will sit in separate rooms, with an Egyptian team mediating.An Egyptian source told Al Hayat that Meidan and Jaabari were both in Cairo last week, and held separate meetings with senior Egyptians. These meetings led to the resumption of indirect talks.The Egyptian source said that there was no breakthrough in the talks as of yet. He said that agreement is possible if Israel is willing to pay a price for Schalit and that Hamas is interested in a deal with fair conditions. Bereaved parents in Israel have demanded that the government tell the public which terrorists it intends to release in exchange for Schalit.Schalit's parents recently met Rav Ovadiah Yosef and asked him to exert pressure on the government to effect the release of their son.

BofA to exit Canada, Europe credit card business

NEW YORK/CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Reuters) - Bank of America Corp plans to sell its credit card business in Canada to TD Bank Group and will exit the rest of its international card business, the bank said on Monday.TD Bank's agreement with Bank of America, the largest U.S. bank by assets, covers an $8.6 billion card portfolio, according to a Bank of America statement. It did not disclose the value of the transaction.TD Group said it will pick up 1.8 million active card accounts from the deal and that it would pay a modest premium for the card receivables.Bank of America also said it would exit its United Kingdom and Ireland card businesses. It has not made a decision on the future of those businesses, which it may wind down or sell, a spokesman said.The move effectively ends Bank of America's consumer banking operations overseas, and comes as it seeks ways to bulk up its capital cushion.
The bank is fighting lawsuits and credit problems related to its ill-fated acquisition of home mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp three years ago as the U.S. housing bubble burst.The bank has lost more than $22 billion in its consumer mortgage division in the last four quarters. It agreed in June to pay $8.5 billion to mortgage securities investors and is fighting numerous lawsuits challenging the settlement and other mortgage issues.The sale was not a reaction to analyst estimates over the last week that the bank would need to raise capital to absorb those losses, said Bank of America spokesman Jerry Dubrowski. The reports sent its shares down by 20 percent last Monday.Bank of America said the deal would have a positive effect on its capital levels. It is expected to close in the fourth quarter.Since Brian Moynihan replaced Kenneth Lewis as chief executive in January 2010, Bank of America has been shedding what it considers noncore assets.Last week, Moynihan said in a conference call with investors that the bank has sold 23 businesses and assets over the last six quarters.The sales ranged from a large portion of the bank's stake in BlackRock Inc , the world's largest asset manager, to Balboa Insurance, which provides foreclosure insurance.The bank has earned $30 billion in proceeds through those asset sales, Dubrowski said.Bank of America said it agreed on August 3 to sell its card business in Spain to Apollo Capital Management. Google will pay $40.00 per share, a 63 percent premium to Motorola's closing price on Friday.Google's Android operating system runs smartphones that compete with iPhones, BlackBerrys and Windows-based mobile devices. Motorola Mobility was separated from the rest of Motorola in January. The company has remade itself as a maker of smartphones based on Android, but has struggled against Apple Inc. and Asian smartphone makers.Motorola Mobility's total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies, said Google CEO Larry Page in a statement. But now that U.S. government debt has been downgraded, the U.S. dollar is showing significant weakness and the U.S. economy continues to crumble, the rest of the world is questioning whether the U.S. dollar should be allowed to continue to have such a privileged position in the global marketplace. Politicians all over the world are now openly calling for a new global currency to replace the U.S. dollar in international trade. In fact, we are already seeing a shift away from the dollar in many areas of the globe. A decade ago, the U.S. dollar made up approximately 70% of all foreign exchange reserves around the world. Today, that figure is down to about 60%, and it continues to fall. As the debt problems of the U.S. government get even deeper, and as the U.S. dollar loses even more strength, the calls for a truly global currency are going to grow even louder.Right now, the global financial system is still based on the U.S. dollar to a very large degree. But dissatisfaction with the status quo is growing around the world. Many are blaming the United States for the massive financial problems that we have had in recent years.Many global politicians these days seem quite eager to jump on any chance to criticize the U.S. financial system. While he was still head of the IMF, Dominique Strauss-Kahn openly called for the introduction of a global currency backed by a global central bank which would act as the lender of last resort in the event of a severe economic crisis….Finally, in principle, a new global currency issued by a global central bank, with robust governance and institutional features, could provide a nominal anchor and risk-free asset for the system independent of national currencies. This global central bank could also serve as a lender of last resort.
But is that what we really need? A global currency issued by a global central bank?

However, the final tally of the Iowa straw poll saw establishment footstool Michele Bachmann eke out Ron Paul by a mere 152 votes. Despite the closeness of the race and the immense political ramifications of a candidate labeled by the corporate media as part of fringe politics finishing neck-to-neck with the insincere Bachmann, Reuters decided to write about Rick Perry’s insignificant, meaningless, though establishment approved, entry into the GOP 2012 race instead. The leaders of France and Germany are meeting on Tuesday in a further attempt to stem the eurozone debt crisis following last week’s strong market turbulence, but Berlin has ruled out any mutualisation of euro countries’ debt.The German parliament is to discuss the latest eurozone plans in September (Jorge Franganillo)German chancellor Angela Merkel will travel to Paris to meet president Nicolas Sarkozy, who last week became the latest eurozone leader to feel the pressure amid speculation that France would be next to lose its top level credit rating.The markets will be closely watching the crisis meeting having picked holes in each of the eurozone’s hastily agreed solutions to date.But despite the intense scrutiny and pressure, it is unclear what major initiatives the two leaders can agree, with Merkel facing a parliament already rebellious about the second bailout for Greece agreed at a eurozone summit in late July.Ahead of the meeting, German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble rejected the creation of Eurobonds, which would pool the debt of eurozone countries.

According to a new study by Dr. Aviad Hacohen, Dean of the Shaarei Mishpat College, despite the talk by officials in Israel’s judicial system about the importance of Jewish law and its integration into the Israeli legal system, in practice no use is made of it and those who use it are looked down upon.Justice Minister Yaakov Ne’eman has called in the past to incorporate mishpat ivri (Jewish civil law) into Israel’s law procedures. He is the present-day representative of a long tradition in the religious Zionist sphere, of those who hoped for mishpat Ivri to be the law of the Land.These included Rabbi Kook, Rabbi Maimon and the hareidi-religious Rabbi Eliezer Waldenburg (the latter, in his book Hilchot Medinah, referred to it as atchalta d'Geulah, the start of the redemption, in the arising of our own state on part of our Holy Land, with our own independent government,page 8).While some criticized the idea, including opposition leader Tzipi Livni, others supported Ne’eman, including former Justice Minister Moshe Nissim, who is an observant Jew and son of a former Sephardic Chief Rabbi.There have also been calls to make Jewish monetary law a part of Israeli law. The values and ethics in mishpat ivri are seen as placing it a notch above precedent-based law, as Jewish civil law has the stated objective of building a healthy, caring and just society.But as Hacohen told Arutz Sheva on Sunday, the trend as can be seen from his research is a move away from Jewish law rather than toward it.The phenomenon of not using halakah is not a new phenomenon, he said, pointing out that there have been a few exceptions but that in general the Supreme Court does not heed Jewish law in its rulings.The problem, however, said Dr. Hacohen, is that not only is there no use of Jewish law in court rulings, but judges actually make fun of the Jewish law.
For example, he said, according to some guidelines that were distributed to judges, there is no need for an Israeli judge to have proven knowledge of Jewish law. He added that this is as evidence of a perception that judges who chose to rely on Jewish law may be not be promoted because of this fact.Dr. Hacohen said that this attitude permeates the legal system, as judges and other individuals with senior positions in the judicial system say that young students should not waste their time studying Jewish law since it has no real chance of being used.He brought another example of a judge who noticed that his friend was engaged in Jewish law and asked him, Why did you dive into the deep waters of the Jewish law?, or in other words: why are you engaged in something which has no real legal need? Dr. Hacohen pointed out that these and other examples go against the Israeli law which requires a judge to turn to halakhic sources, especially when making decisions concerning fundamental rights, which Israeli law states must be based on Israel’s Jewish and democratic values.There are judges who do quote Jewish civil law in their rulings, but they are becoming few and far between. This was a point of divergence between former Chief Justice Menachem Elon, who championed the use of Jewish civil law, and former Chief Justice Aharon Barak, who based his rulings on non-Jewish sources.It is out of this concern that the Shaarei Mishpat College, which Dr. Hacohen heads, has launched a graduate program that will approach and make use of Jewish law from the start and not in retrospect.Bar Ilan University's law department has mandatory courses in mishpat ivri as well as the opportunity for advanced degrees specializing in it. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has a Mishpat Ivri Research Institute, once headed by former Chief Justice Elon.

However, terrorists serving 10 to 15 years receive 6,000 shekels, the ones serving 15 to 20 years receive 10,000 shekels, and those serving 20 to 30 years get 12,000 shekels. These are people who planned, directed and took part in the intentional sadistic slaughter of civilian men, women and children, at point blank range.Since some of the victims of PA terror are American citizens, the information means that US taxpayers pay monthly salaries to the people who murdered their fellow citizens. Report: Israel and Hamas Hold Schalit Talks in Cairo-Al Hayat says Israel and Gaza terror entity have resumed negotiations, will talk through Egyptian intermediaries

Israel and the terror entity Hamas have resumed negotiations over the release of Gilad Schalit, according to Al Hayat, a London-based Arabic newspaper. Schalit has been held incommunicado by Hamas for over five years.The newspaper reports that Israel's emissary, David Meidan, and Hamas terror chief Ahmed Jaabari will probably arrive at the Egyptian Intelligence Headquarters Monday and conduct indirect negotiations. Hamas and Israeli delegations will sit in separate rooms, with an Egyptian team mediating.An Egyptian source told Al Hayat that Meidan and Jaabari were both in Cairo last week, and held separate meetings with senior Egyptians. These meetings led to the resumption of indirect talks.The Egyptian source said that there was no breakthrough in the talks as of yet. He said that agreement is possible if Israel is willing to pay a price for Schalit and that Hamas is interested in a deal with fair conditions. Bereaved parents in Israel have demanded that the government tell the public which terrorists it intends to release in exchange for Schalit.Schalit's parents recently met Rav Ovadiah Yosef and asked him to exert pressure on the government to effect the release of their son.

Peres is the architect of the disastrous Oslo Accords which were negotiated behind the backs of the Israeli public and the Knesset. 3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.

10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

12 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

15 Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

DEUTERONOMY 11:1-25
1 Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.
2 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,
3 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;
4 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;
5 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;
6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:
7 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.
8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;
9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17 And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.

21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

20 Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
22 And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
23 But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
DEUTERONOMY 8:1-20
1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
3 Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.
4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
7 Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
12 And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the LORD your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the LORD had commanded you.
17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
18 And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.
20 And the LORD was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the LORD to wrath.
23 Likewise when the LORD sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.
25 Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.
26 I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.

1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.
2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
3 And I made an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.
4 And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.
5 And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.
6 And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.
7 From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.
8 At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.
9 Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.
10 And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not destroy thee.

11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:
12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.
15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17 And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
PROPHETS PORTION
ISAIAH 49:14-51:3
14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.
19 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.
20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
ISAIAH 50:1-11
1 Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst.
3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.
4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8 He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
10 Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
ISAIAH 51:1-3
1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.
NEW TESTAMENT PORTION
MATTHEW 4:1-11
1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
LUKE 4:1-13
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
JAMES 5:7-11
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
