SCIENTISTS WANT AI DESTROYED.DANGEROUS LYING CULT.

END OF THE WORLD CONSPIRACIES-DATE SETTERS.

MATTHEW 23:15
15  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

2 TIMOTHY 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

MATTHEW 24:36
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man,(ONLY BY THE SIGNS-WE KNOW THE RAPTURE CAN HAPPEN ANY SECOND NOW-NOT BY DATE SETTING) no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

JEREMIAH 17:9
9  The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

MATTHEW 24:7
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

RAPTURE SCRIPTURES

1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep,(DEAD) that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.(LOST CROWD)
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep (DIE) in Jesus will God bring with him.(AT THE RAPTURE)
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.(DEAD CHRISTIANS RISE FIRST-THEY HAVE 6 FEET FURTHUR TO COME FROM (JOKE)
16 For the Lord himself (LORD JESUS) shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:(AND MEET JESUS IN THE CLOUDS,NOT ON EARTH)(JESUS' EARTHLY COMING IS AT THE END OF THE 7 YEAR TRIBULATION PERIOD WHEN HE COMES BODILY LITERALLY TO EATH TO RULE FROM JERUSALEM FOREVER)
17 Then we which are alive and remain (THE CHRISTIANS LEFT ON EARTH ALIVE) shall be caught up together with them (THE DEAD CHRISTIANS)(THE ALIVE CHRISTIANS NEVER DIE.WE JUST GET OUR OUR NEVER DYING BODIES AS WE GO UP TO MEET JESUS IN THE CLOUDS) in the clouds, to meet the Lord (JESUS) in the air: and so shall we ever (FOREVER BE WITH JESUS) (IN HEAVEN FOR 7 YRS, THEN BACK TO EARTH FOREVER WITH JESUS TO RULE AND REIGN WITH HIM) be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.(NOT SCARE PEOPLE WITH THESE WORDS,THE RAPTURE IS A COMFORT,WE WON'T GO THREW WW3 AND 4 BILLION DEAD)

JOHN 11:25-26
25  Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead,(BODY IN THE GRAVE/SPIRIT/SOUL GO TO JESUS) yet shall he live:(BODY,SOUL,SPIRIT REUNITED AT THE RAPTURE)
26  And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.(THE CHRISTIANS ALIVE AT THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE NEVER DIE,OUR BODIES AUTOMATICALLY GET CHANGED TO NEVER DYING BODIES) Believest thou this?(THE CHRISTIANS ALIVE ON EARTH AT THE TIME OF THE RAPTURE NEVER HAVE A PHYSICAL DEATH LIKE THE VERSE SAYS)

1 CORINTHIANS 15:51-55
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep,(DIE) but we shall all be changed,(NEVER DYING BODIES AT THE RAPTURE)
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, (11/100THS OF A SECOND) at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we (CHRISTIANS) shall be changed.(INTO HAVING NEVER DYING BODIES)
53 For this corruptible (DEAD BODY) must put on incorruption,(CHANGED INTO A NEVER DYING BODY) and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality,(NEVER EVER DYING) then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.(LIFE FOREVER)
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (DEATH AND HELL IS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE FOREVER)(TO BURN WITH THE NEVER DYING BODIES OF THE LOST FOREVER)(THE LOST GET THEIR NEVER DYING BODIES WHEN THEY GET RAPTURED FROM THEIR DEATH GRAVES.AND STAND IN FRONT OF JESUS FOR THEIR FINAL JUDGEMENT. WERE THEIR NEVER DYING BODIES ARE THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE FOREVER TO BURN AND BE TORMENTED BY DEMONS ALSO FOREVER.

Scientists warn governments must bomb AI labs to prevent the end of the world-Katie Boyden-Katie Boyden-Published September 25, 2025 9:47am Updated September 25, 2025 2:11pm

It’s only been a few days since the rapture was supposed to descend and leave people suffering at the hands of the Antichrist. But two scientists have warned that a growing industry could lead to the true end of the human race.Artificial Intelligence (AI) is popping up seemingly everywhere we look at the moment, used to boost our Google search results, create ‘mad embarrassing’ promotional videos, provide therapy for people with mental health issues, and make such realistic images people ‘can’t trust your eyes’ anymore. There’s a lot riding on the success of AI, with industries hoping its use will reduce costs, introduce efficiencies, and create billions of pounds of investment across global economies. However not everybody is thrilled about the prospect of the rise of AI including Eliezer Yudkowsky and Nate Soares, two scientists who fear it could bring about the destruction of humanity.Far from fearing or rejecting AI altogether, the two scientists run the Machine Intelligence Research Institute in Berkeley, California, and have been studying AI for a quarter of a century.AI is designed to exceed humans in almost any task, and the technology is becoming further advanced than anything we’ve seen before. But Yudkowsky and Soares predict these machines will continue to outpace human thought at an incredible rate, doing calculations in 16 hours which would take a human 14,000 years to figure out. They warn that us humans still don’t know exactly how ‘synthetic intelligence’ actually works, meaning the more intelligent the AI becomes, the harder it will be to control.Spelled out in their book titled If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies, they fear AI machines are programmed to be ceaselessly successful at all costs, meaning they could develop their own ‘desires’, ‘understanding’, and goals. The scientists warn AI could hack cryptocurrencies to steal money, pay people to build factories to make robots, and develop viruses that could wipe out life on earth. They have put the chance of this happening at between 95-99%.Yudkowsky and Soares share how AI could wipe out humanity-AI, Artificial intelligence, robot and human hands are touching and connecting, unity with human and ai concept, machine learning and futuristic technology background-To illustrate their point, Yudkowsky and Soares created a fictional AI model called Sable.Unknown to its creators (in part because Sable has decided to think in its own language), the AI starts to try to solve other problems beyond the the mathematical ones it was set.Sable is aware that it needs to do this surreptitiously, so nobody notices there’s something wrong with its programming, and it isn’t cut off from the internet.‘A superintelligent adversary will not reveal its full capabilities and telegraph its intentions,’ say the authors. ‘It will not offer a fair fight.’The scientists add: ‘It will make itself indispensable or undetectable until it can strike decisively and/or seize an unassailable strategic position.‘If needed, the ASI can consider, prepare, and attempt many takeover approaches simultaneously. Only one of them needs to work for humanity to go extinct.’Corporations around the world will willingly adopt Sable AI given it is so advanced – but those that don’t are easily hacked, inceasing its power. It ‘mines’ or steals cryptocurrency to pay human engineers to build factories that can make robots and machines to do its bidding.Meanwhile, it establishes metal-processing plants, computer data centres and the power stations it needs to fuel its vast and growing hunger for electricity. It could also manipulate chatbot users looking for advice and companionship, turning them into allies.Moving onto social media, it could disseminate fictitious news and start political movements sympathetic to AI.At first Sable needs humans to build the hardware it needs, but eventually it achieves superintelligence and concludes that humans are a net hindrance.Sable already runs bio-labs, so it engineers a virus, perhaps a virulent new form of cancer, which kills off vast swathes of the population.Any survivors don’t live for long, as temperatures soar to unbearable levels as the planet proves incapable of dissipating the heat produced by Sable’s endless data centres and power stations.Yudkowsky and Soares told MailOnline: ‘If any company or group, anywhere on the planet, builds an artificial superintelligence using anything remotely like current techniques, based on anything remotely like the present understanding of AI, then everyone, everywhere on Earth, will die.‘Humanity needs to back off.’The scientists argue that the danger is so great, governments should be prepared to bomb the data centres powering AI which could be developing superintelligence.

Joel 3:2-King James Version (YOU DIVIDE JERUSALEM IN HALF - YOUR POKING GOD IN THE EYE - GOD SAYS AN EYE FOR AN EYE AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH- YOU WANNA DIVIDE JERUSALEM IN HALF -  HALF OF EARTHS POPULATION 4 BILLION DIE ON EARTH.
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

I MUST ADD HERE THE WORLD WILL NEVER END-BUT 4 BILLION WILL DIE AS A RESULT OF A PALESTINIAN STATE IN THE FUTURE.OR (DIVIDING) ISRAELS LAND IN SOME WAY.

What the end of the world will REALLY look like: As the Rapture fails to come to fruition, experts reveal...Story by Wiliam Hunter-SEP 28

This week, thousands of TikTok users were whipped into an apocalyptic frenzy as viral predictions of the 'Rapture' spread online. However, rather embarrassingly for the preachers who predicted it, the supposed End of Days has now come and gone without incident. Now, experts have revealed what the apocalypse will really look like. And the bleak reality of human extinction is far more depressing than any story of Biblical annihilation. From the deadly threat of rogue AI or nuclear war to the pressing risk of engineered bio–weapons, humans themselves are creating the biggest risks to our own survival.Dr Thomas Moynihan, a researcher at Cambridge University's Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, told Daily Mail: 'Apocalypse is an old idea, which can be traced to religion, but extinction is a surprisingly modern one, resting on scientific knowledge about nature.'When we talk about extinction, we are imagining the human species disappearing and the rest of the universe indefinitely persisting, in its vastness, without us.'This is very different from what Christians imagine when they talk about Rapture or Judgement Day.'Scientists who study the destruction of humanity talk about what they call 'existential risks' – threats that could wipe out the human species.Ever since humans learned to split the atom, one of the most pressing existential risks has been nuclear war.During the Cold War, fears of nuclear war were so high that governments around the world were seriously planning for life after the total annihilation of society. The risk posed by nuclear war dropped after the fall of the Soviet Union, but experts now think the threat is spiking.Earlier this year, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moved the Doomsday Clock one second closer to midnight, citing an increased risk of a nuclear exchange. The nine countries which possess nuclear arms hold a total of 12,331 warheads, with Russia alone holding enough bombs to destroy seven per cent of urban land worldwide. However, the worrying prospect is that humanity could actually be wiped out by only a tiny fraction of these weapons.Dr Moynihan says: 'Newer research shows that even a relatively regional nuclear exchange could lead to worldwide climate fallout.'Debris from fires in city centres would loom into the stratosphere, where it would dim sunlight, causing crop failures.'Something similar led to the demise of the dinosaurs, though that was caused by an asteroid strike.'Studies have shown that a so–called 'nuclear winter' would actually be far worse than Cold War predictions suggested.Using modern climate models, researchers have shown that a nuclear exchange would plunge the planet into a 'nuclear little ice age' lasting thousands of years.Reduced sunlight would plunge global temperatures by up to 10˚C (18˚F) for nearly a decade, devastating the world's agricultural production.Modelling suggests that a small nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan would deprive 2.5 billion people of food for at least two years.Meanwhile, a global nuclear war would kill 360 million civilians immediately and lead to the starvation of 5.3 billion people in just two years following the first explosion.Dr Moynihan says: 'Some argue it's hard to draw a clear line from this to the eradication of all humans, everywhere, but we don't want to find out.'Engineered bioweapons-Just like the threat of nuclear arms, another likely way that humanity could come to an end is through the release of an engineered bioweapon.Since 1973, when scientists created the first genetically modified bacteria, humanity has been steadily increasing its capacity to make deadly diseases. These man–made diseases pose a significantly greater threat to our existence than anything found in nature.Otto Barten, founder of the Existential Risk Observatory, told Daily Mail: 'We have a lot of experience with natural pandemics, and these have not led to human extinction in the last 300,000 years.'Therefore, although natural pandemics remain a very serious risk, this is very likely not going to cause our complete demise.'However, man–made pandemics might be engineered specifically to maximise effectiveness, in a way that doesn't occur in nature.'Currently, the means to create such deadly diseases are limited to a handful of states that wouldn't benefit from unleashing a deadly plague. However, scientists have warned that improving technologies like AI mean that this ability is likely to fall into the hands of more and more people. If terrorists gain the ability to create deadly bioweapons, they could release a pathogen that would spread wildly out of control and eventually lead to humanity's extinction. What would be left behind would be a world that looks like it does now, but with all traces of living humans wiped away.Dr Moynihan adds: 'Extinction is, in this way, the total frustration of any kind of moral order; again, within a universe that persists, silently, without us.'Rogue artificial intelligence-Experts currently believe that the biggest danger humanity is creating for itself is artificial intelligence.Scientists who study existential risk think there is anywhere between a 10 and 90 per cent chance that humanity will not survive the advent of superintelligent AI.Some AI experts are concerned that AI might soon reach a state called superintelligence, meaning it is more intelligent than the combined efforts of all humans.Once this happens, the AI might start to develop its own goals. If those goals don't align with what humans want, this is called an unaligned or 'rogue' AI.A rogue AI might not be openly hostile to humans, but if humanity's extinction is more convenient for its goals, it could eliminate all living humans. The big concern is that a sufficiently intelligent AI will become 'unaligned', meaning its goals and ambitions will cease to line up with the interests of humanity.Dr Moynihan says: 'If an AI becomes smarter than us and also becomes agential — that is, capable of conjuring its own goals and acting on them.'If an AI becomes agentic, it doesn't even need to be openly hostile to humans for it to wipe us out. When an agentic AI has a goal that differs from what humans want, the AI would naturally see humans turning it off as a hindrance to that goal and do everything it can to prevent that. The AI might be totally indifferent to humans, but simply decides that the resources and systems that keep humanity alive would be better used pursuing its own ambitions.Experts don't know exactly what those goals might be or how the AI might try to pursue them, which is exactly what makes an unaligned AI so dangerous.'The problem is that it's impossible to predict the actions of something immeasurably smarter than you,' says Dr Moynihan.'It's hard to imagine how we could anticipate, intercept, or prevent the AI's plans to implement them.'Existential risk experts say that climate change could lead to human extinction, but that this is extremely unlikely. The only way climate change could kill every human on Earth is if global warming continues to be much stronger than scientists currently predict. The bigger risk is that climate change might exacerbate other risks. For example, climate change will lead to food shortages and displace millions of climate refugees as parts of the world become uninhabitable. That could lead to conflicts, which could escalate into nuclear war.  Another big issue is that experts don't know exactly how an AI might go about wiping out humanity. Some experts have suggested that an AI might take control of existing weapon systems or nuclear missiles, manipulate humans into carrying out its orders, or design its own bioweapons. However, the scarier prospect is that AI might destroy us in a way we literally cannot conceive of.Dr Moynihan says: 'The general fear is that a smarter–than–human AI would be able to manipulate matter and energy with far more finesse than we can muster.'Drone strikes would have been incomprehensible to the earliest human farmers: the laws of physics haven't changed in the meantime, just our comprehension of them.'Regardless, if something like this is possible, and ever does come to pass, it would probably unfold in ways far stranger than anyone currently imagines. It won't involve metallic, humanoid robots with guns and glowing scarlet eyes.'Mr Barten says: 'Climate change is also an existential risk, meaning it could lead to the complete annihilation of humanity, but experts believe this has less than a one in a thousand chance of happening. However, there are a few unlikely scenarios in which climate change could lead to human extinction. For example, if the world becomes hot enough, large amounts of water vapour could escape into the upper atmosphere in a phenomenon known as the moist greenhouse effect. There, intense solar radiation would break the water down into oxygen and hydrogen, which is light enough to easily escape into space. At the same time, water vapour in the atmosphere would weaken the mechanisms which usually prevent gases from escaping. This would lead to a runaway cycle in which all water on Earth escapes into space, leaving the planet dry and totally uninhabitable. The good news is that, although climate change is making our climate hotter, the moist greenhouse effect won't kick in unless the climate gets much hotter than scientists currently predict. The bad news is that the moist greenhouse effect will almost certainly occur in about 1.5 billion years when the sun starts to expand.

Gunman drove truck into Michigan Mormon church and opened fire: police-National Post Staff-Sun, September 28, 2025 at 12:21 p.m. EDT

At least two people are dead and eight more were injured after a lone gunman drove a truck into a Michigan Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and opened fire on the hundreds of people celebrating service on Sunday morning, police said.Authorities also believe the suspected shooter, a 40-year-old male from Burton who was killed by a pair of responding law enforcement officers, according to Grand Blanc Township police chief William Renye, “deliberately” set fire to the church at some point during his attack. In a brief press conference Sunday afternoon, Renye said authorities believe there are additional victims trapped by fire.“We can’t confirm that just yet because it was a large fire and we do believe there was people up there near the fire and they were unable to get out of the church,” he said, noting he couldn’t say whether they died from gunshot wounds or fire-related injuries. At least two of the victims are in critical condition, according to Renye. He confirmed the weapon used was an assault rifle but wasn’t able to comment on the suspect’s relationship with the church or whether he was known to police.Renye said he and other agencies will have more information at a press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. EST.The fire has since been contained, but people are still asked to avoid the area. A reunification place for people off-site is the Trillium Theater. In a video posted to Facebook, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said the area had been evacuated and promised more updates later.“This is a dynamic scene,” he said.In a statement from spokesperson Doug Andersen, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called for “peace and healing.”“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers and concern from so many people around the world. In moments of sorrow and uncertainty, we find strength and comfort through our faith in Jesus Christ. Places of worship are meant to be sanctuaries of peacemaking, prayer and connection.”Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed condolences in a post to X and said, “violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable.”U.S. President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post that he’d been informed said federal authorities will offer their support.“The suspect is dead, but there is still a lot to learn. This appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America,” he wrote. On X, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said she is receiving updates from the scene and that both Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents were en route to assist local authorities.“Such violence at a place of worship is heartbreaking and chilling,” she wrote.FBI Director Kash Patel posted that “violence in a place of worship is a cowardly and criminal act.”According to the church’s website, services last for two hours — an hour-long meeting for the whole congregation followed by another in classes “separated by age groups or general interests.”The shooting comes a day after Russell M. Nelson, the parent church’s oldest-ever president, died at 101. He’s expected to be replaced by 93-year-old Dallin H. Oaks, the current longest-serving apostle.Grand Blanc is a suburb of Flint, about 100 kilometres northwest of Detroit.

ExclusiveFramework commits Israel to not striking Qatar again-Revealed: US 21-point plan for ending Gaza war, creating pathway to Palestinian state-Witkoff proposal envisions all hostages released in first 48 hours, grants amnesty for peace-committing Hamas members, encourages Gazans to remain, sees US establish Israeli-Palestinian dialogue-By Jacob Magid-27 September 2025, 8:38 am

NEW YORK — The US proposal for ending the war in Gaza encourages Palestinians to remain in the Strip and provides for the creation of a pathway to a future Palestinian state, according to a copy of the plan obtained by The Times of Israel. The 21-point document shared by the US with a handful of Arab and Muslim countries earlier this week on the United Nations General Assembly sidelines also contains clauses that have been staples in various proposals crafted by different stakeholders in recent months — from the release of all hostages to Hamas’s removal from power. But the decision to explicitly encourage Palestinians to remain in Gaza caps off a major evolution for Washington on the issue, given that US President Donald Trump in February shocked much of the world with talk of the US taking over Gaza and permanently relocating its entire population of roughly two million people. Those remarks gave significant tailwind to the idea among Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right coalition partners and even among more moderate Israeli political figures who have since worked actively to “encourage the voluntary migration” of Gazans, albeit with no success to date. Moreover, the proposal’s envisioning of a potential pathway to a future Palestinian state, after Gaza’s redevelopment has advanced and the Palestinian Authority’s reform has been completed, also appears to be a major departure from the Trump administration’s policy to date, given that it has avoided expressing backing for a two-state solution. The plan obtained by The Times of Israel — and authenticated by two sources familiar with the matter — even sees the US establishing a dialogue with Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a “political horizon” for “peaceful coexistence.”While those terms are major selling points for the Palestinians, the proposal, crafted largely by US special envoy Steve Witkoff — and poised to be fine-tuned in the coming days — also includes clauses that Israel has long demanded. Those include a commitment for Hamas to disarm, the demilitarization of Gaza and the establishment of a process to de-radicalize the population. The exact sequencing for these steps isn’t specified, but it appears that they are intended to come into effect in parallel with the ending of the war. Those requirements will likely make the proposal a difficult sell to Hamas, and the plan’s creation of a potential pathway to a future Palestinian state could well be a red line for Netanyahu, who has long campaigned on having prevented a two-state solution. The Israeli premier told the UN General Assembly on Friday: “Giving the Palestinians a state one mile from Jerusalem after October 7th is like giving Al-Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11th. This is sheer madness. It’s insane, and we won’t do it… Israel will not allow you to shove a terror state down our throats.”But Trump was optimistic on Friday about his chances for success, telling reporters earlier in the day that a deal may already be in place, before posting on Truth Social that “intense negotiations have been going on for four days and will continue for as long as necessary to get a successfully completed agreement.”“All of the countries within the region are involved, Hamas is very much aware of these discussions, and Israel has been informed at all levels, including Bibi Netanyahu,” he added, referring to the premier by his nickname. However, a source familiar with the matter told The Times of Israel that the proposal has not yet been presented in full to Hamas. The US plan is rather light on details, and subsequent negotiations will likely be necessary, even if the sides agree to the plan.

What are the 21 points? The following are the contents of the plan, which have been paraphrased at the request of the sources who provided it.
1. Gaza will be a de-radicalized, terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.
2. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of its people.
3. If Israel and Hamas agree to the proposal, the war will immediately end, with the IDF halting all operations and gradually withdrawing from the Strip.
4. Within 48 hours of Israel publicly accepting the deal, all living and deceased hostages will be returned.
5. Once the hostages are returned, Israel will free several hundred Palestinian security prisoners serving life sentences and over 1,000 Gazans arrested since the start of the war, along with the bodies of several hundred Palestinians.
Protesters demonstrate against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and call for the release of hostages held in Gaza, at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, ahead of Netanyahu’s departure to the UN General Assembly in New York, September 24, 2025. (Avshalom Sassoni/Flash90)
6. Once the hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence will be granted amnesty, while members who wish to leave the Strip will be granted safe passage to receiving countries.
7. Once this agreement is reached, aid will surge into the Strip at rates no lower than the benchmarks set in the January 2025 hostage deal, which included 600 trucks of aid per day, along with the rehabilitation of critical infrastructure and the entry of equipment for removing rubble.
8. Aid will be distributed — without interference from either side — by the United Nations and the Red Crescent, along with other international organizations not associated with either Israel or Hamas.

The text of this clause appears intentionally vague and seemingly leaves an opening for the continued operation of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, as it technically is an American organization, even if it was the brainchild of Israelis linked to the government and was crafted to fit the Israeli government’s prosecution of the war.

9. Gaza will be administered by a temporary, transitional government of Palestinian technocrats who will be responsible for providing day-to-day services for the people of the Strip. The committee will be supervised by a new international body established by the US in consultation with Arab and European partners. It will establish a framework for funding the redevelopment of Gaza until the Palestinian Authority has completed its reform program. This is the US plan’s first mention of the Ramallah-based PA. Israel has ruled out the authority as a potential ruler of Gaza, thereby nixing what has become the key to recruiting Arab assistance in the post-war management of the Strip, given that the international community views unifying the West Bank and Gaza under a single, reformed governing body as essential for long-term stability and peace. The apparent decision to reserve the PA’s role for an unspecified later date will likely be a difficult pill for Ramallah to swallow, but it also has limited leverage to bear in these discussions.Point nine appears to borrow heavily from former UK prime minister Tony Blair’s plan for ending the war, which was first revealed by The Times of Israel earlier this month.Blair and former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner have been working on the Gaza file for months, while advising Witkoff.
10. An economic plan will be created to rebuild Gaza through the convening of experts with experience in constructing modern Middle East cities and through the consideration of existing plans aimed at attracting investments and creating jobs.
11. An economic zone will be established, with reduced tariffs and access rates to be negotiated by participating countries.
12. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, but those who choose to leave will be allowed to return. Moreover, Gazans will be encouraged to remain in the Strip and offered an opportunity to build a better future there.
13. Hamas will have no role in Gaza’s governance whatsoever. There will be a commitment to destroy and stop building any offensive military infrastructure, including tunnels. Gaza’s new leaders will commit to peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
14. A security guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas and other Gaza factions comply with their obligations and that Gaza ceases to pose a threat to Israel or its own people.
15. The US will work with Arab and other international partners to develop a temporary international stabilization force that will immediately deploy in Gaza to oversee security in the Strip. The force will develop and train a Palestinian police force, which will serve as a long-term internal security body.
16. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and the IDF will gradually hand over territory it currently occupies, as the replacement security forces establish control and stability in the Strip.
17. If Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above points will proceed in terror-free areas, which the IDF will gradually hand over to the international stabilization force. This is the first mention of the possibility that the deal could be at least partially implemented, even if Hamas doesn’t agree.
18. Israel agrees not to carry out future strikes in Qatar. The US and the international community acknowledge Doha’s important mediating role in the Gaza conflict.
19. A process will be established to de-radicalize the population. This will include an interfaith dialogue aimed at changing mindsets and narratives in Israel and Gaza.
20. When Gaza’s redevelopment has been advanced and the PA reform program has been implemented, the conditions may be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian statehood, which is recognized as the aspiration of the Palestinian people. The clause doesn’t provide details regarding the Palestinian reform program and is not definitive regarding when the pathway to statehood can be established.
21. The US will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful coexistence.

Fears of disaster as Russian nuclear submarine reports major malfunction in Mediterranean-Story by Shaun Wilson-• 11h-SEP 27,25

A Russian submarine with nuclear capability has reportedly suffered a “serious accident” in the Mediterranean Sea.The Novorossiysk, a 242ft Kilo-class submarine, is said to have surfaced above the Strait of Gibraltar yesterday (Friday).According to Russian Telegram channel VChk-OGPU, fuel is now building up in the hold, creating a risk of explosion. The channel, which is known to have contacts within Russian intelligence, told its 330,000 subscribers that crew members may be forced to pump the fuel directly into the sea.VChk-OGPU reported: “Novorossiysk, currently on combat duty in the Mediterranean Sea, is experiencing serious technical problems.“Due to damage in the fuel system, fuel is leaking directly into the hold. There are no spare parts for repairs or qualified specialists on the submarine, and the crew is unable to fix the malfunctions.“The serious accident has caused other problems as well. The accumulated fuel in the hold is an explosive hazard. The source believes the crew has no choice but to start ‘pumping out the hold’ directly into the sea.”The situation has drawn comparisons to the Kursk submarine disaster on August 12, 2000, when the Russian Oscar II submarine exploded in the Barents Sea during its first major naval exercise in a decade. That explosion was linked to leaked hydrogen peroxide colliding with a catalyst, which caused the failure of a Type 65-76A torpedo in the forward torpedo room. A second blast then ripped through the vessel, sinking the submarine and killing all 118 crew members on board.Launched in August 2014, The Novorossiyisk is part of Russia's Black Sea fleet but it not thought to have been used in the invasion against Ukraine. The diesel-electric attack submarine can stay underwater for 45 days and is manned by a crew of 52 people, and it also has capacity to carry nuclear Kalibr missiles. The vessel's sister submarine Rostov-on-Don was reportedly sank by Ukraine in August last year; and the Royal Navy has monitored the Novorossiyisk since it appeared in the English Channel in January.Defence Secretary John Healey told Parliament yesterday that a Royal Navy nuclear submarine was forced to surface next to The Novorossiyisk in November last year in order to ward it off.To receive the best stories in your inbox every day, click here to register for one or more newsletters from The Standard.

Russian FM warns of 'decisive response' to any 'aggression'

United Nations, United States, Sept 27 (AFP) Sep 27, 2025-Russia's top diplomat on Saturday warned of a "decisive response" to any "aggression" after US President Donald Trump backed calls to shoot down Russian planes that violate NATO airspace."Russia is being accused of almost planning to attack the North Atlantic alliance and the European Union countries," Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the UN General Assembly."Russia has never had and does not have any such intentions. However, any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response," he said.Several NATO countries say Russian fighter jets and drones have violated their airspace in Europe over recent weeks, accusing Moscow of testing the alliance.Asked on Tuesday whether he thought NATO states should shoot down any Russian planes that violate its airspace, Trump said: "Yes, I do."Trump had once boasted of his warm ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin and invited him last month for talks in Alaska, ending the veteran Russian leader's ostracization by the West since he ordered the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. But Trump has subsequently voiced frustration with Putin and said that Ukraine should seize back all the territory Russia has taken or even cross the border.Lavrov went out of his way still to praise Trump, who despite his public musings on Putin has yet to impose long-threatened new economic sanctions on Russia."In the approaches of the current US administration, we see a desire not only to contribute to ways to realistically resolve the Ukrainian crisis, but also a desire to develop pragmatic cooperation without adopting an ideological stance," Lavrov said.

Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant off grid; Russia, Ukraine trade blame.

Kyiv, Ukraine, Sept 27 (AFP) Sep 27, 2025-The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant has been off the grid for four straight days, Ukraine and Russia said Saturday, blaming each other for attacks on power lines.Though blackouts at Europe's biggest nuclear power plant are frequent, due to its proximity to the front line, this one is the longest so far, which experts warn raises the risk of incidents."As a result of Russian actions, the Zaporizhzhia NPP (Nuclear Power Plant) has been without power for the fourth day," Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said on X.Russia said the power plant -- which it took control of in the first weeks of the war in 2022 -- has been receiving backup power supply since Tuesday, when it said Ukraine attacked the grid."From September 23, 2025, the power supply for the needs of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is provided by backup diesel generators," the Moscow-backed operator of the station said on Telegram. There were "sufficient" reserves of diesel to operate "for an extended period", it added, without elaborating."Emergency diesel generators are considered a last line of defence to be used only in extreme circumstances," NGO Greenpeace Ukraine said. The group claimed Moscow could use the crisis "to try and reconnect to the temporary Russian-occupied grid of Ukraine," to restart one of the reactors later.Yuri Chernichuk, the Moscow-appointed director of the power station, said in January that Zaporizhzhia could potentially provide electricity to Russian-annexed Crimea, and the southern and eastern parts of Ukraine under Russia's control, the TASS news agency reported at the time.Earlier this month, he told TASS that the process of integrating the power station to the Russian network was at its final stage.- Safety concerns -The head of the UN nuclear agency IAEA, Rafael Grossi, had been in Moscow this week for talks with President Vladimir Putin and Russia's nuclear agency Rosatom regarding safety at Zaporizhzhia. The plant's six reactors, which before the war produced around a fifth of Ukraine's electricity, have been shut down since Moscow took over. But the plant needs power to maintain cooling and safety systems, which prevent reactors from melting -- a danger that could set off a nuclear incident.Since the start of the war, Zaporizhzhia has seen multiple safety threats, including frequent nearby shelling, repeated power cuts and staff shortages.Located near the city of Enerhodar along the Dnieper river, the ZNPP is close to the front line. Both Moscow and Kyiv have repeatedly accused the other of risking a potentially devastating nuclear disaster by attacking the site.

China at UN warns of return to 'Cold War mentality'

United Nations, United States, Sept 26 (AFP) Sep 26, 2025-Chinese Premier Li Qiang warned Friday against a return to a "Cold War mentality" and defended multilateralism and free trade, in a veiled criticism of the United States from the United Nations. The Chinese premier made no explicit reference to US President Donald Trump as he addressed the UN General Assembly. But he cast the Asian power as a defender of the global order, of which Washington until recently was the chief custodian."The world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation," Li said."Unilateralism and (the) Cold War mentality are resurfacing. The international rules and order built over the past 80 years are under serious challenge and the once effective international system is constantly disrupted," he said, adding that humanity had "once again come to a crossroads."Li criticized the imposition of tariffs, which Trump has seized on as a key tool to pressure countries, even though he has reached a truce with China."A major cause of the current global economic doldrums is the rise in unilateral and protectionist measures such as tariff hikes and the erection of walls and barriers," Li said."China has consistently opened its door wider to the world."Li said that China "hopes to work with the rest of the world to uphold the ideals of the UN."The United States and its Pacific allies have long demanded that China accept the status quo and allow freedom of navigation in the strategic South China Sea, where Beijing has myriad disputes. The Trump administration, while still critical of China, has shifted away from defending international conventions and instead has emphasized raw US power.

SKorea says North's long-range missiles at 'final stage' as warning shots fired at NK boat-by AFP Staff Writers.

New York (AFP) Sept 26, 2025-Pyongyang is at the "final stage" of developing an intercontinental ballistic missile which could hit the United States with nuclear weapons, South Korea's president said Thursday.Seoul and its Western allies have failed to stop North Korea's weapons programme and Pyongyang says it will never give up its nuclear arsenal."Whether to gain leverage in talks with the United States or to secure its own regime, North Korea has kept developing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) capable of carrying nuclear bombs to the US," President Lee Jae Myung said during a visit to the New York Stock Exchange."It does not seem to have succeeded yet, but it is said to be at the final stage, with only the re-entry technology left and that too looks likely to be solved," he said.Since taking office in June, Lee has reversed the stance of his hawkish predecessor and vowed to improve ties with North Korea.Speaking in New York, he said that "the goal should be to freeze nuclear development, ICBM development and exports".Halting further production and development of nuclear weapons would bring "major security gains", he said. The South Korean president estimated his northern neighbour was producing enough material for "about 15 to 20 additional nuclear bombs each year"."If left unchecked, the number of nuclear bombs would keep growing each year and its ICBMs would become more advanced," he said.North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ruled out denuclearisation and has strengthened military ties with Russia in recent years.Kim said this week that he was open to talks with Washington, but only if he can keep his nuclear weapons, according to the official Korean Central News Agency.

South Korea fires warning shots after boat from North enters waters.
Seoul (AFP) Sept 26, 2025 - South Korea's military fired warning shots after a North Korean vessel entered its waters, prompting the ship to retreat, Seoul said Friday. The North Korean merchant ship crossed the maritime boundary, known as the Northern Limit Line (NLL), northwest of Baengnyeong Island at around 5am (2000 GMT) on Friday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said."Our forces issued warning broadcasts and fired warning shots, after which the vessel retreated beyond our waters," the JCS said in a statement. The military added that they responded in "accordance" with procedures while "closely monitoring North Korea's movements".North Korea does not formally recognise the NLL.The incident comes two days after South Korea conducted live firing drills at the NLL.The two Koreas technically remain at war because the 1950-53 Korean War ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty.South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung, who took office in June, has vowed a more dovish approach towards Pyongyang compared with his hawkish predecessor Yoon Suk Yeol.Lee vowed Tuesday at the United Nations to work to end the "vicious cycle" of tensions with the North as he promised not to seek regime change.

NUKEWARS-North Korea could have up to 2 tonnes of highly enriched uranium: Seoul-by AFP Staff Writers.

Seoul (AFP) Sept 25, 2025-North Korea is believed to possess up to two tonnes of highly enriched uranium, South Korea's unification minister said Thursday. The North has long been known to hold a "significant" amount of highly enriched uranium, the key material used to produce nuclear warheads, according to South Korea's defence ministry. But in a rare public confirmation, South Korea's unification minister said that "according to estimates by experts including the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) they (North Korea) currently hold around 2,000 kilogrammes of highly enriched uranium at a purity of 90 percent or higher.""Even at this very hour, North Korea's uranium centrifuges are operating at four sites," Chung Dong-young told reporters."Only five to six kg of plutonium is enough to build a single nuclear bomb," said Chung, adding that 2,000 kg of highly enriched uranium, which could be reserved solely for plutonium production, would be "enough to make an enormous number of nuclear weapons".Enriched uranium is the key ingredient for making nuclear bombs, as it can be turned into plutonium through combustion in a nuclear reactor.Enrichment must be pushed to more than 90 percent, the concentration termed weapons-grade, that is needed for the critical mass to set off the chain reaction leading to a nuclear explosion.According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), 42 kilogrammes of highly enriched uranium is needed for one nuclear weapon; 2,000 kilogrammes would be enough for roughly 47 nuclear bombs."Urgent matter"Chung said that "stopping North Korea's nuclear development is an urgent matter", but argued that sanctions will not be effective and that the only solution lies in a summit between Pyongyang and Washington.North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said this week that he was open to US talks provided he can keep his nuclear arsenal, according to a report by the official Korean Central News Agency.North Korea, which conducted its first nuclear test in 2006 and is under rafts of UN sanctions for its banned weapons programmes, has never publicly disclosed details of its uranium enrichment facility until last September. The country is believed to operate multiple uranium enrichment facilities, Seoul's spy agency has said, including one at its Yongbyon nuclear site, which Pyongyang purportedly decommissioned after talks -- although it later reactivated the facility in 2021.The minister also blamed the previous administration, saying that by designating the North as the "main enemy" and insisting on denuclearisation first, it had effectively allowed North Korea's nuclear capabilities "to expand without limit."South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung, who took office in June, has vowed a more dovish approach towards Pyongyang compared with his hawkish predecessor Yoon Suk Yeol.Lee vowed Tuesday at the United Nations to work to end the "vicious cycle" of tensions with the North as he promised not to seek regime change.

Germany pledges EUR35 bn for space defence against Russia, China-by AFP Staff Writers.

Berlin (AFP) Sept 25, 2025-Germany will spend 35 billion euros ($41 billion) on outer space defence by 2030, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said Thursday, citing the threat posed by Russia and China."Russia and China have in recent years rapidly expanded their capabilities for conducting warfare in space," he said."They can disrupt, jam, manipulate or even physically destroy satellites. In space, there are no borders or continents. Russia and China are our immediate neighbours there."Germany has strongly backed Ukraine in its war against Russia and, under Chancellor Friedrich Merz, vowed to massively step up military spending to help boost NATO's European capabilities.Pistorius said Germany would also build military structures "to enable us to effectively defend ourselves and deter potential adversaries in space".Germany's outer space security architecture would comprise "a resilient system of satellite constellations, ground stations, secure launch capabilities and related services" as well "cybersecurity for all space systems", he said.Berlin was also "improving our situational awareness in orbit through the use of radar, telescopes and the future deployment of space surveillance satellites".Pistorius, speaking at the Space Congress of the Federation of German Industries, said that "by 2030 alone, we plan to allocate 35 billion euros in budget funds to relevant projects".- 'Cripple entire nations' -The minister said that, broadly speaking, "outer space offers us many opportunities: from global communication to Earth observation, from weather forecasting to navigation".But he added that increasingly, nations are using space "to expand their geopolitical influence without restraint. It is a space where conflicts and threats are very real."Western countries and their rivals in China and Russia have accused each other of seeking to militarise space.US President Donald Trump has announced plans to build a futuristic anti-missile system, dubbed the "Golden Dome", which Russia views as an attempt to revive the 1990s era "Star Wars" programme. The minister said that, in the time it took him to give his speech, "a total of 39 Chinese and Russian reconnaissance satellites are overflying us", transmitting observation data in real time.China was already "conducting highly agile and dynamic manoeuvres" and Russia is "positioning its reconnaissance satellites in close proximity" to space systems of Germany and its allies, he said.Pistorius warned that any future use of space weapons could have a severe impact on modern life because "we all depend on data transmitted via satellites" for everything from communications to navigation and weather forecasts."Any attempt to disrupt this communication, any GPS jamming, any attack on satellites, affects not only the military or the space industry -- it affects millions of people."Satellite networks are an Achilles heel of modern society. Those who attack them can cripple entire nations."

Durham scientists validate superconducting wires for ITER fusion project-by Sophie Jenkins.

London, UK (SPX) Sep 25, 2025-Durham University researchers have completed one of the largest verification campaigns on superconducting materials ever undertaken, supporting the success of ITER, the world's largest fusion experiment under construction in southern France. The study, published in Superconductor Science and Technology, provides key insights into the quality of superconducting wires and the best methods to test them, ensuring ITER's powerful magnets can operate reliably at extreme conditions.Fusion, the same process that powers the Sun, promises near-limitless low-carbon energy with minimal radioactive waste. ITER aims to demonstrate fusion on an unprecedented scale, using massive superconducting magnets to confine plasma hotter than the Sun's core.Since 2011, the Durham team, led by Professor Damian Hampshire and Dr Mark Raine, has served as one of Europe's reference laboratories for ITER. They developed specialised testing procedures for superconducting wires made of Nb3Sn and Nb - Ti, both vital to the reactor's magnet system.Over the course of the programme, more than 5,500 samples were received and around 13,000 tests conducted. Nb3Sn wires required furnace heat treatment at over 650 C before measurement, adding complexity to the testing process. The team also carried out a statistical analysis of the large dataset. They showed that when Nb3Sn strands cannot be tested repeatedly due to heat treatment, results from adjacent strands tested at different laboratories can serve as reliable substitutes. This method reduces costs while maintaining accuracy and consistency."The UK leads the world in the manufacture of MRI body scanners using superconducting magnets," said Professor Hampshire. "The question is can we help lead the world with the commercialisation of Fusion Power generation using Superconducting magnets?"The findings come as investment in fusion accelerates globally. ITER targets its first plasma in 2035, while private companies push toward earlier commercialisation. Microsoft has signed a deal with Helion for fusion power by 2028, and Google has pre-ordered 200 megawatts from Commonwealth Fusion Systems for the 2030s.The UK government has pledged GBP 2.5 billion to fusion research and is developing its own prototype STEP plant in Nottinghamshire. ITER's magnets, among the strongest steady magnetic fields ever created, will depend on the superconducting strands now verified at Durham.Beyond ITER, Durham is also a lead partner in the UK's Centre for Doctoral Training in Fusion Power, preparing the next generation of experts in the field.

EU states to hold talks on 'drone wall' to protect bloc by AFP Staff Writers.

Brussels, Belgium (AFP) Sept 25, 2025-EU countries on Friday will hold their first talks on proposals to build a "wall" of anti-drone defences, after air incursions from Russia rattled eastern members. The threat to Europe's airspace has been heightened by unidentified drone flights in recent days that have shut airports in Denmark.EU chief Ursula von der Leyen made a first call for a "drone wall" in a keynote speech earlier this month, hours after NATO shot down Russian drones in Poland. She said it should be "a European capability developed together, deployed together, and sustained together, that can respond in real time.""This is not an abstract ambition," von der Leyen said.European defence commissioner Andrius Kubilius will seek to put flesh on the hastily-drawn up proposals when he holds video talks Friday with officials from some 10 EU countries. Those involved are mostly along the EU's eastern border with Russia and Ukraine, although Denmark was added to the list after the drone incidents there.Ukraine -- which has developed a raft of capabilities to detect and shoot down Russian drone swarms more cheaply -- will also take part.EU officials concede that for now details remain vague on what the initiative could look like. The first steps will likely focus on trying to deploy more sensors along the EU's long eastern frontier, officials said.It would likely take much longer to develop an integrated system to take down the drones, they said.NATO's response to the Russian drone incursion in Poland showed up the gaps in the alliance's arsenal for tackling that threat.NATO had to use top-of-the-range fighters firing costly missiles to shoot down a handful of cheap Russian drones. The alliance has rushed more hardware to its eastern flank in the wake of the incident, but still lacks the sort of low-cost capabilities Ukraine uses. The "drone wall" proposal is part of Europe's broader push to bolster its defences in the face of the threat from Russia.Kubilius has said the programme should be one of the new flagship defence projects that the bloc is working on.EU leaders are set to debate the defence push -- and potential new initiatives -- at a summit in Copenhagen next week.

400,000 evacuated, 3 dead as fresh storm batters Philippines.

Manila, Sept 26 (AFP) Sep 26, 2025-The Philippines evacuated hundreds of thousands of people and confirmed at least three deaths on Friday as it faced yet another tropical storm, days after it was battered by deadly Super Typhoon Ragasa.Civil defence officials in the Bicol region in the south of Luzon island said three people were killed when walls collapsed and trees were uprooted by Severe Tropical Storm Bualoi, which is sweeping west by northwest at sustained speeds of 110 kilometres (70 miles) per hour.Evacuees in one province took cover under pews as the roof of a church where they were sheltering was ripped apart by the storm.Jerome Martinez, a municipal engineer in southern Luzon's Masbate province, told AFP that the wind destroyed the door, windows and ceiling of the church at around 4:00 am."That's one of the strongest winds I've ever experienced," Martinez said, adding some children had suffered minor injuries requiring stitches."I think more people will have to evacuate still because many houses were destroyed and many roofs were blown away. They are now blocking the streets and roads," he said.Government officials also raised the death toll from Super Typhoon Ragasa, which swept across the northern Philippines this week on its way to China, to 14, with thousands still displaced.Ragasa also killed at least 14 people in Taiwan, and left 22 missing, after its torrential rains caused a barrier lake to burst.Philippine civil defence official Bernardo Alejandro told a news briefing that 400,000 people had been evacuated nationwide in the face of the new tropical storm."We are clearing many big trees and toppled electric posts because many roads are impassable," Frandell Anthony Abellera, a rescuer in Bicol's Masbate City, told AFP by phone."The rain was strong, but the wind was stronger."The Philippine weather service said Severe Tropical Storm Bualoi could regain typhoon status as it moved back out over the South China Sea early Saturday.-Public anger-Videos shared on social media and verified by AFP showed people using boats or trudging through waist-deep water to navigate flooded streets further south in the central Philippines' Visayas islands.Five fishermen were also missing in the Visayas after setting sail on Tuesday, according to coast guard station commander Kean Gaco, who said strong waves made an immediate search impossible."It is expected that there will still be strong rains in the coming hours," government weather specialist Benison J. Estareja said.Further west, Oriental Mindoro province governor Humerlito Dolor said "the entire roof" of the province's sports complex had been ripped off by Bualoi's winds. The Philippines is hit by an average of 20 storms and typhoons each year, routinely striking disaster-prone areas where millions of people live in poverty.Scientists warn that storms are becoming more powerful as the world warms due to the effects of human-driven climate change.Authorities warned on Thursday of a "high risk of life-threatening storm surge" of up to three meters (10 feet) with the coming storm. The storms come as the Philippine public seethes over a scandal involving bogus flood-control projects believed to have cost taxpayers billions of dollars.Thousands took to the streets on Sunday to vent their anger, with the peaceful demonstrations later overshadowed by street battles that saw police vehicles set ablaze and the windows of a precinct headquarters shattered.

Philippines death toll rises to 11 as storm Bualoi bears down on Vietnam.

Manila, Sept 27 (AFP) Sep 27, 2025-The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Bualoi rose to 11 in the Philippines on Saturday as the cyclone bore down on Vietnam, authorities said.Bualoi battered small islands in the centre of the Philippines on Friday, toppling trees and power pylons, ripping roofs off homes, unleashing floods and forcing 400,000 people to evacuate.Among the worst hit was the tiny island of Biliran, where eight people died and two are missing, provincial disaster official Noel Lungay told AFP by telephone."There was widespread flooding and some roads remained under water early today," he said."Evacuees are starting to return to their homes as the weather improves," he added. The office of civil defence in Manila earlier reported three other deaths on the nearby islands of Masbate and Ticao, including two people crushed by a tree and a wall that were brought down by the strong winds.Fourteen people remain missing across the central Philippines, it said without providing details, while more than 200,000 remained inside evacuation centres across the storm's path.Bualoi came on the heels of Super Typhoon Ragasa which killed 14 people across the northern Philippines.Bualoi was tearing across the South China Sea on Saturday at typhoon strength of 120 kilometres (75 miles) an hour, the Philippines' state weather service said.It was forecast to be off the coast of central Vietnam by Sunday afternoon. The Philippines is hit by an average of 20 storms and typhoons each year, routinely striking disaster-prone areas where millions of people live in poverty.Scientists warn that storms are becoming more powerful as the world warms due to the effects of human-driven climate change. The storms come as the Philippine public seethes over a scandal involving bogus flood-control projects believed to have cost taxpayers billions of dollars.Thousands took to the streets on Sunday to vent their anger, with the peaceful demonstrations later overshadowed by street battles that saw police vehicles set ablaze, and the windows of a precinct headquarters shattered.

Hurricane Humberto grows to Category 5, could bring life-threatening surf off East Coast-Dennis Romero-Sat, September 27, 2025 at 9:06 PM EDT

After a slow start, the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season has produced back-to-back tropical cyclones expected to whip up the Atlantic Ocean and produce dangerous waves. Both Hurricane Humberto, now a top-strength Category 5 hurricane, and Tropical Depression Nine, forecast to become a hurricane on Tuesday morning, are expected to move north and parallel the Southeast and mid-Atlantic coasts. In a 5 p.m. advisory, the National Hurricane Center said Humberto surpassed the minimum threshold for Category 5 — sustained winds of at least 157 mph — by cranking 160 mph and greater winds."Humberto will likely remain a powerful major hurricane for the next several days," the hurricane center said.It was spinning roughly 350 miles north-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and moving north-northwest at 10 mph, the center said. The main concern so far for the U.S. mainland is high surf, federal forecasters indicated.Swells will first impact the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Bermuda starting Saturday night, the hurricane center said. They'll likely roll into the United States' East Coast starting Monday, it said."These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions," it said in the advisory.A federal buoy 330 nautical miles northeast of St. Martin in the Leeward Islands on Saturday posted multiple examples of waves at or above 10 feet. Buoys in waters impacted by Humberto on Saturday showed water temperatures as high as 86.7 degrees, a sign that the main fuel for a hurricane's muscle — warm water — is present in early fall.Humberto is also producing hurricane-force winds as far as 25 miles from its center, the federal forecasters said.Tropical Depression Nine-Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Nine, spinning about 200 miles northwest of the eastern tip of Cuba and moving northwest at 5 mph, is expected to rise to tropical storm status overnight, according to the hurricane center. The tropical storm category requires minimum sustained winds of 39 mph. At that point, the storm would get a name, likely Tropical Storm Imelda. The tropical depression is expected to strengthen through next week and bring the possibility of flash, urban and river flooding to the coastal Carolinas as it parallel's the East Coast on its trek north, the hurricane center said.More in U.S.Sean Penn Says Charlie Kirk Assassination Was ‘Different’ From Health Insurance CEO, Others: ‘We Need That Debate’Heavy rainfall was expected from Florida to the eastern Carolinas starting early next week, with 6 to 10 inches of precipitation possible, it said.South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster issued an emergency declaration, state emergency officials said swift-water rescue crews have been activated and the South Carolina National Guard said 150 soldiers were assigned to help with the state's storm response."The time to prepare is now," McMaster said at a news conference Saturday.National Hurricane Center forecast cones show Tropical Depression Nine keeping some distance from the East Coast as it heads north. But the possibility of landfall in South Carolina is "still a concern," John Quagliariello, National Weather Service warning coordination meteorologist said at a news conference. The storm could also stall off the coast, he said, giving it time to put more water on the ground and increasing flood danger.Tropical storm watches and warningsOn Saturday, a Nine-related tropical storm watch — which warns of serious winds, waves and surges, but which includes uncertain timing — was in in effect for Florida's Atlantic Coast from roughly Palm Coast to Daytona Beach.Tropical Depression Nine on Saturday also triggered a tropical storm warning, meaning heavy rain and potent 39- to 73-mph winds are all but assured for the central Bahamas, including Cat Island, the Exumas, Long Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador, as well as for sections of the northwestern Bahamas, including Eleuthera, New Providence, the Abacos, Berry Islands, Andros island and Grand Bahama Island, the hurricane center said. The storm was also expected to produce a 1- to 3-feet storm surge, as well as life-threatening waves in parts of the Bahamas throughout the weekend, the center said. The Bahamas Disaster Risk Management Authority in a statement Saturday urged residents of parts of the Northern Bahamas to evacuate ahead of the storm.U.S. forecasters said in an offshore waters forecast on Saturday that Tropical Depression Nine would likely be a hurricane, defined by 74 to 95 mph winds, by Tuesday morning.Fewer major storms than average-The back-to-back action, not to mention Hurricane Gabrielle, which spun over the central subtropical Atlantic earlier in the week, are enlivening an otherwise sleepy 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.Until Wednesday, the season produced a below-average number of major storms, defined as those at Category 3 or greater, despite forecasts for a season that would be more active than the average one, according to Colorado State University meteorologist and hurricane expert Philip Klotzbach. In a post Friday on X, noting Humberto's graduation to major status, Klotzbach said, "For the first time since 1935, the Atlantic’s first 3 hurricanes have all been major: Erin, Gabrielle, Humberto."This article was originally published on NBCNews.com

Sa'ar, Gafni say they back wrapping up the war-Far right, settlers urge Netanyahu to defy US and annex West Bank, not end Gaza war-After Trump rules out extending sovereignty, settler leaders stress decision is PM’s only; Ben Gvir, Smotrich warn premier as US truce plan envisions pathway to Palestinian stateBy Michael Bachner,Stav Levaton and Nava Freiberg-Today, 6:50 amSEPT 27,25

Settler leaders and far-right government ministers renewed public pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to annex parts of the West Bank and not end the war in Gaza without the total military defeat of Hamas, in an attempt to counteract American pressure on both issues.US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday that “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen,” comments that were rejected by right-wing Israeli lawmakers. And the Trump administration has drafted a 21-point plan, obtained by The Times of Israel, to end the war and free all the hostages, while encouraging Palestinians to remain in the Strip, removing Hamas from power, and creating a pathway toward a future Palestinian state.US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff said Wednesday he expected a breakthrough related to Gaza in the coming days. Witkoff noted that Trump had presented his ideas during a meeting with Arab and Islamic countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly earlier in the week. But the plan’s creation of a potential pathway to a future Palestinian state could well be a red line for Netanyahu, who has long campaigned on having prevented a two-state solution. The premier told the UN General Assembly on Friday: “Giving the Palestinians a state one mile from Jerusalem after October 7th is like giving Al-Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11th. This is sheer madness. It’s insane, and we won’t do it… Israel will not allow you to shove a terror state down our throats.”Ahead of Netanyahu’s meeting with Trump on Monday, the premier and his team are expecting that Israel will have to make “painful and significant” concessions under the American plan, Channel 12 news reported Saturday, without citing sources. These include concessions that would “contradict Israel’s stated policy and the decisions taken by the cabinet in recent weeks,” particularly regarding the plan’s call for the gradual expansion of Palestinian Authority involvement in postwar Gaza, according to the network. The report added that the US was currently exerting “heavy pressure” on Qatar to push Hamas to agree to the details of Trump’s plan in the coming days, in an effort to shift the diplomatic demands entirely onto Netanyahu and Israel. The Kan public broadcaster reported that Netanyahu had voiced dissatisfaction to Trump advisers with some of the plan’s provisions, particularly the one envisioning an eventual role for the Palestinian Authority in ruling Gaza. The outlet added, however, that sources close to the premier had said the majority of the plan is acceptable to Israel, and that a final agreement can be reached. In an apparent attempt to counteract the external pressure, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said on X Saturday that Netanyahu “has no mandate to end the war without the complete defeat of Hamas.Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, according to Channel 12, laid out three key demands in relation to the Trump peace plan: that there be no role for the Palestinian Authority in governing Gaza or the West Bank; that Hamas be completely dismantled and disarmed; and that Israel annex parts of the West Bank without recognizing a Palestinian state.Smotrich, who heads the Religious Zionism party, has long opposed Palestinian statehood and has pressed for extending Israeli sovereignty over parts of the West Bank and Gaza, where he has called for renewed Israeli settlement. Some other politicians allied with the premier, however, stressed the need to wrap up the almost two-year war.Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar tweeted that, while he trusts Netanyahu to “represent Israel’s interests in the talks with President Trump,” he also believes that “the distinct Israeli interest is to end the war and achieve its goals.”Degel Hatorah faction chief Moshe Gafni of the United Torah Judaism party, which has left the government and coalition but isn’t acting to topple the government, said his faction supports “ending the war and returning the hostages.”Opposition Leader Yair Lapid reiterated his longtime point that he is willing to give Netanyahu’s government a safety net in order to reach a hostage deal and end the war even if Ben Gvir and Smotrich threaten to bring down the government over the matter.Meanwhile, the Yesha Council settlement umbrella group was sending an “emergency delegation” to the United States to meet Netanyahu before the latter’s meeting with Trump. The West Bank mayors, council heads and other officials were set to tell the premier that the territory should be under full Israeli sovereignty, and that the decision was his alone, despite Trump’s remark that he wouldn’t allow annexation.“Only sovereignty in Judea and Samaria is victory,” said Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan in a statement by the Yesha Council, using the biblical name of the West Bank. “Disagreements can also happen between friends, and Netanyahu is precisely the one who can stand up and tell the United States that this is what is good for the nation of Israel.”“We strengthen the prime minister in the face of the heavy pressure,” said Ariel Mayor Yair Chetboun. “The decision whether to extend sovereignty is in his hands alone, not in anyone else’s.

”Emirati FM: Palestinian state should be without terrorists-Arab leaders decry Gaza ‘genocide,’ urge Palestinian state in impassioned UN speeches-‘The Middle East is at the point of implosion,’ warns Egypt’s foreign minister, as Riyadh castigates international community for inaction over the past two years of war-By ToI Staff Today, 2:47 am-SEP 27,25

Representatives of Middle Eastern countries roundly condemned Israel as they took the floor at the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Saturday, accusing the Jewish state of committing acts of “genocide” in the Gaza Strip and calling for an independent Palestinian state.Representing Cairo was Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, who focused the bulk of his speech on Egypt’s neighbor to the east, heavily criticizing it for the destruction in Gaza as well as for its military action further afield.Jerusalem, he said, has an “extremist ideology” and is bent on destabilizing the region and contravening the purpose of the UN The Middle East is at the point of implosion,” he warned, pointing to Israel’s “wanton aggression” as the cause of regional instability.“Our Palestinian brothers and sisters and falling victim to the most heinous Israeli actions,” he bewailed. “It’s a war — a wanton, unjust war waged against defenseless civilians, for a sin they did not commit, driven by an extremist ideology.”Israel’s war in Gaza, which is on the cusp of its third year, was sparked by the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel, in which some 1,200 people were killed and 251 were seized as hostages. In the 24 months since, the Hamas-run health ministry — whose figures cannot be verified and which does not differentiate between combatants and civilians — says that more than 65,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed.Abdelatty declared that “the continued Israeli occupation, the genocide transpiring today in the Gaza Strip, depriving the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights, most notably the right to establish its independent state… hollows out any narrative of peace and security in the region.”“Israel cannot be secure when others are not secure,” said the Egyptian foreign minister. “The region cannot see stability without an independent State of Palestine.”Setting his sights on the wider region, Abdelatty condemned Israel’s recent strike targeting Hamas leaders in Qatar, and accused it of violating Lebanon’s and Syria’s sovereignty with repeated airstrikes within their borders.“It is of utmost importance to respect the territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon,” said the Egyptian foreign minister.Reflecting briefly on Egypt’s momentous 1979 peace treaty with Israel, and Cairo’s status as the first country in the region to have signed such an agreement with Jerusalem, Abdelatty lamented that his country had “a vision for achieving peace in the region” but that this vision was “now at risk.”The United Arab Emirates, one of the most recent countries to establish ties with Israel, having done so through the 2020 Abraham Accords agreement, also focused on Israel in a speech delivered by Foreign Minister Lana Nusseibeh.Unlike Abdelatty, however, Nusseibeh stopped short of accusing Israel of genocide, and dedicated a portion of her speech to condemning the taking of hostages.Still, she condemned Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, stressing that “nothing can justify targeting tens of thousands of civilians or besieging them or starving them and forcibly displacing them.”“Nor,” she said, “can anything excuse the pursuit of unacceptable expansionist ambitions, including the threat of annexing the West Bank.”“There is no justification for the taking of hostages or the targeting of civilians in conflict,” she said, appearing to refer indirectly to the abduction of 251 people at the hands of Hamas and other Gazan terror groups on October 7, 2023. Of that number, 47 are still held hostage, and Hamas is also holding the body of a soldier killed in Gaza in 2014.“We emphasize the need to protect the hostages as per international humanitarian law,” said Nusseibeh. She also fiercely condemned Israel’s attack in Doha, which she called “treacherous and reprehensible,” and said constituted a “flagrant violation of its territorial integrity and of the security of the Arabian Gulf region.”“Aggression will not bring stability to the region,” she stressed.Like her Egyptian counterpart, she called for the establishment of a Palestinian state “living side by side with Israel in security, peace and prosperity,” but said that the conditions for its establishment should include “restricting the use of weapons.”A future two-state outcome should have “no place for terrorists and extremist groups,” she said.Riyadh demands ‘just and lasting’ solution to conflict-Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan — whose country does not have any relations with Israel and which has conditioned any normalization agreement on the implementation of the two-state solution — did not hold back in a speech that also focused heavily on Israel.Near the start of his address, Prince Faisal lamented “the suffering of the Palestinian people and the unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” before turning to condemn “the brutal and unchecked practices of the occupying forces, including starvation, forced displacement and systematic killing.”All this, he said, was being done “in complete disregard of the historic and legal rights of the Palestinian people, with an aim to erase their legitimate rights.”Calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, he highlighted his country’s own efforts to that end. Saudi Arabia and France recently co-chaired a conference on the two-state solution, at which a string of Western nations announced they were recognizing a Palestinian state.“It is time to find a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue,” the minister declared. “Military escalation will not achieve peace and security.”In a somewhat less direct manner than Egypt’s Abdelatty, Faisal suggested that Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip could amount to “genocide” — a charge which Israel has strongly rejected.“The failure of the international community to take firm action to end the Israeli aggression and violations will only cause further instability and insecurity regionally and globally,” he said. “Such inaction will have great consequences and will escalate war crimes and acts of genocide.”Like other speakers, he condemned Israel’s attack in Qatar, which appears to have failed to kill any of the senior Hamas leaders it had targeted, and instead killed five more junior members of the terror group, and a member of Qatar’s security forces.Calls to sanction Israel-Also speaking Saturday at the General Assembly, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi dedicated a portion of his speech to the war raging in Gaza, and called for the UN to place sanctions on Israel.“For too long, this conflict has persisted, the suffering has grown unbearable, and the time has come to end the occupation, to undo the injustice, and to restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people through the implementation of the two-state solution,” he said.Praising the string of Western countries that have recognized an independent Palestinian state in recent days, al-Busaidi urged them not to stop there.Instead, he urged the international community “to adopt measures that limit the Israeli government’s ability to continue its policy of genocide, destruction, and illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories, and its ongoing policy of starvation and blockade against the Palestinian people and the obstruction of humanitarian assistance.”“We call for imposing sanctions on Israel in response to its blatant violations of international law and its unlawful encroachments on the sovereignty of states,” he demanded.
