US mass stabbing suspect targeted 3-year-old’s birthday party – police-Six children, including birthday girl, among the 9 wounded, in attack at complex that mainly houses resettled refugee families-By Rebecca Boone-TOI- JUL 1,18

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A man who had been asked to leave a Boise apartment complex returned the next day and stabbed children celebrating a 3-year-old girl’s birthday, in an attack that left the city reeling, Police Chief William Bones said on Sunday.Nine people in all were hurt in the attack, including the birthday girl. Five other children, aged 4 to 12, were injured, as were three adults who came to their defense.Bones said all are alive, although some are gravely injured.A resident of the apartment complex where the stabbing took place had allowed 30-year-old Timmy Kinner to stay there a short time, but asked him to leave Friday because of his behavior, Bones said.Kinner returned Saturday, when the girl was having her party a few doors down from where he had stayed, according to police. Kinner is facing nine counts of aggravated battery and six counts of injury to a child for the late Saturday violence. The complex houses many resettled refugee families, but Kinner is not a refugee.Esrom Habte, 12, and Fathi Mahamoud, 11, were playing in the grass behind their apartment when the attack began.“It was kind of scary because we were outside,” Esrom told news media as his mother looked on. “He was chasing people and stabbing people.”“We saw him saying bad words and stabbing a grown-up really hard and a lot of times,” Esrom said. The children ran into an apartment and hid in a closet with other children until police told them it was safe to come out, he said.On Sunday, colorful bouquets rested just outside crime scene tape.“This incident is not a representation of our community but a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time,” Bones said during a press conference Saturday night.Police found stabbing victims both inside the complex and in the parking lot; Kinner was arrested a short distance away.Bones said the attack resulted in the most victims in a single incident in Boise Police Department history. “As you can imagine, the Wylie Street Apartment and our community is reeling from this attack,” he said. The apartment complex is just off of one of Boise’s busier streets, separated from the traffic by one of the many irrigation canals that run through the city.Victim witness coordinators and counselors were being made available to the victims, their families and friends and other residents of the apartment complex, Bones said.“Our hearts go out to the victims who are in the hospital tonight, please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers,” he said.Boise Mayor Dave Bieter condemned the attack on Twitter.“Last night’s horrific attack does not represent Boise,” Bieter wrote. “Please join me in praying for the injured and their families. We must come together to condemn this vile act.”

Nine injured in US stabbing attack in complex housing refugees-Six children among wounded in 'unprovoked' attack; police apprehend 30-year-old former resident, who was not a refugee-By AFP-TOI-1 July 2018

WASHINGTON, DC — An “unprovoked” stabbing attack in an Idaho apartment complex that is home to many refugees left nine people injured, including six children, police in the capital city of Boise said.Police apprehended a suspect, a 30-year-old man they named as Timmy Kinner, who until Friday was a resident at the same complex, but not a refugee himself.“Four of the victims received life-threatening injuries,” the Boise Police Department said in a statement about the incident, which occurred on Saturday night. The statement added that Kinner had been “asked to leave” the apartment on Friday, and that “the suspect’s exact motives and reasons for attacking specific individuals are still under investigation.”“As you can imagine the witnesses in the apartment complex along with the rest of our community are reeling from this attack,” Police Chief Bill Bones said.“This incident is not a representation of our community, but a single evil individual who attacked people without provocation that we are aware of at this time.”Boise, in the southwestern corner of the western state, has a population of about 220,000.The state of Idaho has a small but growing immigrant population, accounting for about six percent of the total. Immigrants make up some 40% of the labor force in the farming and fishing sectors. On Saturday, several thousand people marched outside the Idaho State Capitol in Boise to protest Trump administration immigration policies, one of many such rallies across the country.

Police use rubber bullets as gay groups march in Istanbul pride, despite ban-Even though authorities refuse permission for 4th year in a row, 1,000 people gather, unfold rainbow flag, read press statement-By AFP-TOI-JUL 1,18

ISTANBUL, Turkey — Gay rights groups and activists pressed ahead with the Istanbul Pride parade on Sunday despite Turkish authorities banning the event for a fourth year in a row.Around 1,000 people gathered near the city’s famous Istiklal Avenue and Taksim Square, where organizers had originally wanted to hold the parade, an AFP photographer at the scene reported. The activists unfolded a large rainbow flag, while a press statement was read out amid heavy security in the area. But police then warned activists to disperse and used rubber bullets against some who tried to access Istiklal Avenue, the photographer said.“100s of police throughout the Taksim area to stop the Istanbul Pride taking place but creative and courageous Pride participants sidestep the ban and read their press statement at a back street spontaneous protest,” Amnesty International’s Turkey researcher Andrew Gardner said on Twitter. The Istanbul governorate told the organizers that officials “could not take steps to secure their safety and did not find it appropriate for the Pride Walk to take place,” according to a statement from Istanbul LGBT+ Pride Week on Facebook late Friday. The Istanbul governor’s office issued no public statement about the event.“The governor cited the excuse of security in its decision to ban the march and in one word, this is comical. Our marches went on peacefully without being banned for 13 years,” the organizers said in a press statement on Facebook hours before the march.“We LGBTI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex) are here with our pride despite all vain attempts to prevent us and we do not recognise this ban,” they added. The annual rally is the most important LGBT event in a Muslim country in the region. The Ankara governorate on Thursday banned a screening of the 2014 film “Pride” organized by the Communist LGBT group, saying such events could “incite hatred and enmity.”The governor’s office added that there could be “danger to public safety.”The capital’s governorate in November issued a ban on LGBT events, but gay rights groups said they would take legal action against the order.Although homosexuality is legal in Turkey, LGBT individuals frequently cite abuse and harassment.

Mexico votes in elections centered on disgust with corruption, violence-Frontrunner Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador vows a social 'transformation' for Mexico, but critics worry he is promising more than the country can afford-By CHRISTOPHER SHERMAN and Mark Stevenson-TOI-JUL 1,18

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexicans were voting Sunday in a potentially transformative election that could put in power a firebrand vowing to end politics and business as usual, in a country weary of spiraling violence and scandal-plagued politicians.Front-running candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was one of the first lined up to vote at his polling place in Mexico City, and some of his supporters turned out early.“There is a lot of inequality, a lot of violence in this country,” said Lopez Obrador voter Hugo Carlos, 73. “This situation has to be changed.”While Lopez Obrador held a commanding lead in polls, he worried many.“I am concerned that some candidates are making proposals that are impossible, because they’re very expensive to carry out,” said Juan Carlos Limas, 26, who lined up at another Mexico City precinct to vote for Ricardo Anaya, who is running second in polls for a right-left coalition.Lopez Obrador has promised a “transformation” of Mexico and pledged to give scholarships or paid apprenticeships to youth, and to increase support payments for the elderly. But rivals warn that a Lopez Obrador could set the country back decades with an interventionist economic policy. All the candidates are lambasting US President Donald Trump’s policies against migrants and Mexico, but voters were wondering who could best deal with Trump.Sunday’s elections for posts at every level of government are Mexico’s largest ever, and have become a referendum on corruption, graft, and other tricks used to divert taxpayer money to officials’ pockets and empty those of the country’s poor. This is Lopez Obrador’s third bid for the presidency and some see it as his best shot after 12 years of near-permanent campaigning. His railing against the “mafia of power” that has long ruled Mexico and in favor of the poor appears to be falling on receptive ears.“The corrupt regime is coming to its end,” Lopez Obrador, a 64-year-old commonly known as AMLO, said at his final campaign event Wednesday. “We represent modernity forged from below.”Much of the popular ire has been aimed at unpopular President Enrique Pena Nieto’s Institutional Revolutionary Party, whose market-oriented economic reforms have yet to benefit many Mexicans. Its candidate, Jose Antonio Meade, has experience in several areas of government — including the treasury and foreign relations departments — and that convinced some voters like Roman Acosta, a doctor from the western city of Morelia.“Meade is the best person to continue what has worked, and get rid of what hasn’t,” said Acosta.Anaya has tried to harness the youth vote with an emphasis on technology and new ideas, but he divided his own conservative party to take its candidacy and it is unclear if his new allies in the leftist Democratic Revolution Party will actually turn out for someone from the other end of the ideological spectrum.Sunday is the first time that an independent candidate appears on the ballot.Jaime “El Bronco” Rodriguez fought for attention with a horse-mounted “everyman” campaign and by tossing out policy bombs like his proposal to cut off the hands of public officials caught stealing. Without the big party machinery it was an uphill battle. It is also the first time that Mexicans living abroad can vote for down ballot races like senators. More than 181,000 received ballots and the 97,000 that the National Electoral Institute had gotten back by Friday morning were already double what they received in 2012.Casting his own vote, Pena Nieto promised to work with whoever wins on the transition.“The president of the republic and his government will be absolutely respectful and support the authorities that are elected,” Pena Nieto told reporters.Hovering over the election is the specter of vote fraud, though electoral officials deny it is a possibility with the modern balloting technology and institutions now in place. In both of Lopez Obrador’s previous two presidential losses, he alleged fraud. In his first loss — by a mere 0.56 percent to conservative Felipe Calderon in 2006 — his supporters held months-long protests in Mexico City and he referred to himself as “the legitimate president.”His allies are warning even before Sunday’s presidential vote that there better not be any funny business.“They shouldn’t dare commit a fraud, because if they do they will meet the devil,” said Yeidckol Polevnsky, president of Lopez Obrador’s Morena party. “We will not accept it.”Still, the voting Sunday was by and large peaceful, apart from the usual complaints about some volunteer-staffed polling places opening late. The head of the country’s electoral institute, Lorenzo Cordova, said voting was proceeding “peacefully, without major incidents,” and that only four of the 156,807 polling places failed to open.On Saturday, the Democratic Revolution party said four of its members were killed in Mexico State, west of Mexico City, while trying to prevent hand-outs of goods by the ruling party to potential voters. The government of the northern state of Chihuahua reported that three people were arrested in the border city of Ciudad Juarez for allegedly trying to buy votes for an unnamed political party. And in Michoacan state, polling places in a few villages were cancelled after some inhabitants said they did not want elections involving political parties, which they mistrust. Some ballots were stolen and burned in the town of Nahuatzen to prevent voting.

Analyst: IDF reinforcements a message to Assad – Don’t enter demilitarized zone-Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said to ask Russian counterpart to warn Assad not to violate 1974 separation agreement by entering Golan border area-By TOI staff--1 July 2018

Israel’s deployment of reinforcements to the Golan Heights are a message to Syrian dictator Bashar Assad as his forces draw closer to the Israeli border, an Israeli analyst said Sunday.“Now that your army is coming south, don’t send them into the demilitarized zone established in the 1974 [ceasefire] agreement. Israel will see this as a serious violation,” was how Hadashot television news’s defense analyst Roni Daniel couched Israel’s purported message.Israel’s army sent tanks and artillery cannons to the Syrian border on Sunday morning amid a renewed offensive by Assad’s forces and the Russian military against the remaining rebel holdouts in Syria’s southwest. The IDF then announced the move to the media.“This was a message to Assad,” Daniel insisted. “When the IDF deploys reinforcements and announces the reinforcement, there’s only one address: Assad.”The move is not unexpected. Since the renewed ground campaign by Damascus began last month against rebel-held towns in the Daraa province, complete with aerial support from Russia and ground assistance from Iran-backed militias, some 160,000 Syrian nationals have fled their homes and traveled to the Israeli and Jordanian frontiers seeking refuge.Several hundred of the fleeing Syrians have settled in several tent encampments adjacent to the Israeli border, within the demilitarized zone established after the 1973 Yom Kippur War, apparently in the hope that Israel would act to enforce the separation agreement and prevent Syrian military forces from entering the area.According to Daniel, Israel is not limiting itself to sending its message indirectly via military maneuvers. Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman reportedly called his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu to ask him to deliver the message to Assad explicitly.Israel’s Sunday reinforcements were sent to bolster the capabilities of the IDF’s 210th Bashan Division, which defends the Golan Heights, the IDF said.An army statement explained, “This was [done] as part of IDF preparations and readiness in light of developments on the Syrian Golan Heights near the border.”The army vowed it would offer a “determined response” to any fire — deliberate or accidental — that hit Israeli territory from Syria.“The IDF sees great importance in maintaining the armistice agreement between Israel and Syria from 1974,” the army statement said, adding: “The IDF will continue to uphold its principle of non-involvement in what is happening in Syria, alongside a policy of delivering a determined response to violations of the sovereignty of the State of Israel and threats to its citizens.”Both Israel and Jordan have stated that they will not accept refugees, but have provided humanitarian aid to the displaced people.Last week, the IDF announced it had delivered several tons of humanitarian aid — food, clothes, medicine — to southern Syria in light of the deteriorating situation in the hastily erected displaced person camps near the border.Israel on Friday night also brought in six injured Syrians, four of them children orphaned in the Syrian-Russian attacks, for medical treatment in Israeli hospitals.“Israel has been giving humanitarian aid for years and will continue now in light of the need for it,” the army said.On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that Israel would provide assistance, but not allow refugees into Israel.“We will continue to defend our borders. We will extend humanitarian assistance to the extent of our abilities. We will not allow entry into our territory and we will demand that the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement with the Syrian army be strictly upheld,” Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly cabinet meeting. The prime minister added that he, the defense minister and the IDF chief of staff were all in constant contact with the United States and Russia — the two main powerbrokers in Syria — about the fighting in Syria’s southwest.Since June 19, backed by Russia, the Damascus regime has carried out a deadly bombing campaign in southern Syria as it pushes to retake the strategic area bordering Jordan and the Israeli Golan Heights. As of Saturday, government forces controlled more than half of Daraa, up from just 30 percent at the start of the operation, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said.Eight towns in the province returned to regime control under Russia-brokered deals, the Observatory said. That came “after talks in each town between Russian generals as well as local notables and remaining rebels,” Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said. The so-called “reconciliation” deals for the towns’ surrender are the latest in a string of such agreements across the country that have seen the government retake opposition-held areas, often after devastating air and ground offensives.Retaking the whole of Daraa province would be a symbolic victory for the regime, as it is seen as the cradle of the anti-Assad uprising seven years ago that spiraled into civil war.Regime forces bombarded other parts of Daraa province on Saturday, with airstrikes killing at least 15 civilians, according to the Observatory.Unidentified airstrikes killed 10 civilians including five children in the rebel-held town of Al-Sahwa, the Britain-based monitor said. The recent escalation comes despite Daraa and opposition-held parts of neighboring Quneitra province being included in a so-called “de-escalation zone” agreed on by Russia, the United States and Jordan last year.Syria’s main opposition group, the Syrian Negotiation Commission (SNC), implored the international community to speak out against the violence.“We call on the international community to condemn the brutal breaching of the de-escalation zone… and take all possible measures to halt this assault on our people,” SNC spokesman Yahya al-Aridi said in a statement. In total, 115 civilians have been killed in regime bombardment on the province since June 19. In that same period, 96 pro-regime fighters and at least 59 rebels have lost their lives. The refugees fleeing the areas under assault include around 20,000 who left for areas near the Naseeb border crossing with Jordan, a country that already hosts more than 650,000 registered Syrian refugees and says the actual figure is closer to 1.3 million. Thousands more have fled to the border with Israel on the Golan Heights.Amman has said it cannot open its frontier to any more Syrians fleeing the seven-year conflict, but on Saturday announced it had sent aid across the border to the displaced.More than 350,000 people have been killed in Syria since the war started in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-government protests.AFP contributed to this report.

Reports: Israeli aircraft fire missiles at Gazans launching kites-Palestinian media report there were no injuries among group in Shuja'iyya-By TOI staff-1 July 2018

Palestinian media reported Sunday that an Israeli aircraft fired a missile at a group of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip about to launch burning kites towards Israel.According to the Palestinian media there were no injuries from the shot which targeted a group in Shuja’iyya, in the east of Gaza City. The Israeli military has carried out multiple warning strikes in recent weeks at groups of Gazans preparing to launch incendiary devices toward Israel. The army has said repeatedly that it will act to prevent the launch of the airborne incendiary devices and explosives.Last week Israeli leaders warned Hamas, which rules Gaza, and other terror groups in the Strip, that the military was prepared to take more intense offensive action as well.Since March 30, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have launched countless kites, balloons and inflated latex condoms bearing flammable materials, and occasionally explosives, into Israeli territory, sparking near-daily fires that have burned thousands of acres of farmland, parks, and forests.Israeli leaders have been split on how to respond to those responsible for the airborne arson attacks, with some calling for the IDF to shoot the kite flyers and balloon launchers on sight, while others argued that it would be a step too far.Judah Ari Gross contributed to this report.

Analysis-Prince William’s visit a PR coup for Israel, with some royal pain amid the gain-The future UK monarch's historic trip boosted Israel's international legitimacy, but also underlined the world's ongoing discomfort with Jewish sovereignty throughout Jerusalem-By Raphael Ahren-TOI-30 June 2018

This prince wasn’t very Machiavellian. As British officials had stressed countless times before the Duke of Cambridge’s arrival in the region earlier this week, his historic visit here was intended to celebrate the UK’s bilateral ties with Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Authority, but otherwise remain strictly apolitical. He would not recognize a Palestinian state or apologize for the Balfour Declaration, they predicted, but nor would he do anything that could be interpreted as recognizing Israeli sovereignty over any part of Jerusalem. And so it was.President Reuven Rivlin told William about the need for the Palestinians to finally come to terms with Israel being the nation-state of the Jewish people. PA President Mahmoud Abbas asserted his continued commitment to a peace agreement with Israel based on the 1967 lines. But the prince would not be drawn, sticking to vague talking points prepared in advance. He did appear to slip by referring to the Palestinian territories as a country when meeting Abbas, but he didn’t even endorse the idea of a two-state solution.Nonetheless, the future king’s visit was highly significant for Israel, despite a few nuisances along the way.The importance of his tour lies mainly in the fact that a member of the royal family, after seven decades of unofficial boycott, finally came on an official visit to the State of Israel. It’s a harsh blow to those who seek to delegitimize the State of Israel when Great Britain — which not only abstained on the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan but also repeatedly refused to vote in favor of Israel’s joining the UN, only recognizing the nascent Jewish state in April 1950 — finally sent a representative of Her Majesty to Jerusalem for meetings with Israel’s most senior leaders.Supporters of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement must have scratched their heads, furthermore, upon learning that the second-in-line to the British throne had opted to stay at Jerusalem’s King David Hotel, which Jewish underground fighters bombed in 1946, killing scores of British soldiers. The joy BDS activists felt after the Argentinian soccer team canceled its planned friendly match in Jerusalem would have quickly evaporated this week as they saw the prince shaking hands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on a street named after Arthur Balfour, the former UK foreign secretary who paved the way for modern Israel’s creation. On Tuesday, the duke hailed the “unique character of Tel Aviv, its flair and diversity,” compared Israel’s “innovation, diversity, talent and excellence” to that of his own country, and noted that bilateral ties — including trade relations and defense cooperation — were at an all-time high.“There is… an essential vibrancy to this country,” the prince enthused at a reception at the residence of UK Ambassador to Israel David Quarrey in the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan.He had absorbed that vibrancy hours earlier at a meeting with Jewish and Arab kids at a soccer event, and in stroll on Tel Aviv beach, when his relaxed nature conveyed a sense of ease at being in Israel that will have done wonders for the way the country is perceived. In that same speech at the ambassador’s residence, however, William issued a call for peace he would repeat several times. “This region has a complicated and tragic history — in the past century the people of the Middle East have suffered great sadness and loss. Never has hope and reconciliation been more needed,” William declared. “I know I share a desire with all of you, and with your neighbors, for a just and lasting peace.”He reiterated the last three sentences, verbatim, a day later at a reception for Palestinians held at the UK’s Consulate General in Jerusalem. And that’s the thorn in Israel’s side, the minor royal pain that accompanied the gain: Those parts of the prince’s visit that took place beyond the 1967 lines, including those in East Jerusalem, were not organized by the British embassy in Tel Aviv but took place under the auspices of the country’s Jerusalem consulate, which is located in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in the city’s eastern section.“The story of the Palestinian people is so often told only through the lens of difficulty and conflict — but there is another story which I was privileged to witness today,” Prince William said at the consulate’s reception on Wednesday evening, standing in a part of Jerusalem that Israelis consider part of their united capital.“My message tonight is that you have not been forgotten,” he added. “It has been a very powerful experience to meet you and other Palestinians living in the West Bank, and to hear your stories.”Thus the prince addressed Israelis in a diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv, and Palestinians in a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem. On Thursday, the duke conducted “private visits” to the Dome of the Rock, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, all located in Jerusalem’s Old City — which, according to the prince’s official itinerary, is part of the “Occupied Palestinian Territories.”The Duke of Cambridge at the Haram al-Sharif (The Noble Sanctuary), the third holiest site in Islam. 1/4 #AhlanPrinceWilliam pic.twitter.com/N72SSJ2m4e— UKinJerusalem???????? (@UKinJerusalem) June 28, 2018-These visits were overseen by the Jerusalem consulate, whose official mission statement expresses support for a “democratic Palestinian State based on 1967 borders, living in peace alongside Israel, with Jerusalem as the shared capital of both states and the Occupation ended by agreement.”Ahead of the visit, UK officials defended the use of the term “Occupied Palestinian Territories” by arguing it was longstanding British policy to describe in this fashion any location outside Israel’s recognized borders. That may be accurate, but Israelis may be forgiven for taking offense at the prince applying such a label to the Western Wall — a place that even the UK Consulate in Jerusalem says was “part of the ancient Wall of the Second Temple, the focus of Jewish worship for millennia.”Israelis will never get enough of VIPs visiting the Western Wall. Despite the prince’s insistence on going there without official Israeli accompaniment, the sober minute during which he stood there in quiet introspection is seen as a grand gesture that signals respect for the Jewish people’s connection with this land and this city. And yet, even well-established diplomatic practice cannot hide a certain dissonance — some may call it unfairness — in the future monarch’s strenuous efforts to not appear to recognize Israeli sovereignty over any part of Jerusalem (he reportedly refused to meet Mayor Nir Barkat in the city), but also to designate the entire Old City as part of the Palestinian territories. While none of this prejudges the outcome of possible future final-status peace negotiations, and Israeli officials rightly consider Prince William’s ostensibly apolitical visit a success, it also highlighted some diplomatic anomalies that remain a royal complication for the Jewish state.

IDF doesn’t expect mass border breaches by Syrians fleeing Assad offensive-Officer in charge of Israel's Good Neighbor humanitarian aid program says some assistance comes from anonymous Arab states, Israel to continue helping, even as fighting intensifies-By Judah Ari Gross-TOI-JUL 1,18

The head of the army’s program to provide assistance to southern Syria said Sunday that he does not expect large numbers of Syrians to attempt to breach the border and seek refuge inside Israel, in response to a renewed offensive by dictator Bashar Assad, which has killed dozens and displaced over 150,000 people.“Syrians will not run to the fence,” said Lt. Col. “Aleph,” who could only be recognized by his rank and first letter of his Hebrew name for security reasons.“First of all, we will not allow it. Second, there is a big, big difference between getting help from Israel, getting treated in Israel, and coming to live in Israel,” he said. This contradicted claims made by a number of analysts and researchers, who have said that Syrians have told them that they would indeed be interested in seeking refuge in Israel if it were possible.Asked about these comments, Aleph said he was “glad to hear it,” since it meant that the Jewish state was being seen in a better light by Syrians, but dismissed them as anecdotal, noting that none of the people allowed into Israel have formally requested asylum. In the past week, the Israeli military, as well as the defense minister and prime minister, stated unequivocally that Israel will not take in Syrian refugees, but will try to provide humanitarian assistance.Aleph said the military has seen thousands of Syrians streaming toward the Israeli border in the past week and a half, since Assad began his campaign in the nearby Daraa province, aided by the Russian air force and Iran-backed Shiite militias.    A massive increase in Syrian IDP camp in the #Golan due to recent fighting in #Daraa. pic.twitter.com/pccABbwRW1— HD (@HarelDan) June 30, 2018-“We have seen displaced people [setting up] camps near the Israeli border. It’s not to the border, it’s villages near the border,” said the IDF officer, noting that many of these are over a kilometer (more than half a mile) away from the security fence.Since 2016, Aleph and his soldiers have managed Operation Good Neighbor, a project designed to help send humanitarian aid and other forms of assistance into Syria. Israel has also provided medical treatment and other forms of help to Syrians affected by the civil war, since at least 2013, but in a less organized fashion.“It is a moral thing for us as Jews,” Aleph told reporters in a phone briefing.According to the officer, since the start of Operation Good Neighbor, the Israel Defense Forces has performed approximately 700 humanitarian assistance operations. Aleph said that his soldiers do not enter Syrian territory, but go only as far as the security fence, where they hand off the aid or pick up wounded Syrians for treatment in Israel.Since Assad’s renewed offensive began last month, the Israeli military has delivered 30 tons of food, 30 tons of clothes and tons of medical supplies, Aleph said. as tens of thousands of people traveled toward the Israeli border to flee the Syrian and Russian military’s intensive bombing campaign. The camps set up in the area typically lack access to fresh water, electricity and other basic needs. They are often filled beyond capacity, forcing people to sleep outside.“People came with nothing,” Aleph said. “So we have done some humanitarian operations. We brought in tents so they can sit and sleep not under the sky and sun.”A portion of the humanitarian assistance the Israeli military delivered to southwestern Syria was provided by Arab countries, the officer said, refraining from identifying the nations, as he said it would be “complicated” for them to be known to be cooperating with the Jewish state. The rest of the aid was provided by Israeli and American non-governmental organizations, he said. The labels on the food and other goods were all in Hebrew, making it clear the country of origin, Aleph added. The officer stressed that the Good Neighbor program, which began in 2016 and was publicly revealed in 2017, was only involved in providing humanitarian aid and helping evacuate wounded Syrians to Israeli hospitals and clinics.“We don’t deal with military assistance, only with humanitarian aid,” he said.Asked if the local Syrian officials were aware that Israel would not be providing military support, Aleph said he believed so.“I think that they know it. We are always speaking to them and telling them that we are helping them and the citizens, and providing humanitarian aid, but we will not interfere,” he said.“We’re not getting involved. We’re not helping this side or that side,” he said, repeating Israel’s long-time non-intervention policy toward Syria. However, Aleph noted that the area around the border with Israel has nevertheless been far calmer than other parts of Syria’s Daraa and Quneitra provinces. On Sunday, the military announced that it had sent reinforcements to the Golan Heights, as the fighting picked up in Syria and was only expected to intensify.“I can’t say this is a buffer zone. I can just say that in the past year, there were fewer attacks in these villages than in other areas,” he said.On Friday, as part of the humanitarian aid programs, soldiers from the army’s 210th Bashan Division helped bring six severely injured Syrians into Israel for treatment, including four children who were reportedly orphaned in the aerial bombing campaign being conducted by Assad and Russia.“We saved their lives on the border,” Aleph said. After providing first aid at the crossing, the wounded Syrians were taken to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya for treatment. The two men who were brought over were of so-called “fighting age,” one 19 years old, the other 25 years old.According to Aleph, the military did not ask if they were involved in the battles or not.“I won’t ask him, are you a fighter or not? It’s just a very seriously wounded human being and I will help them,” the officer said.Aleph stressed the moral considerations driving Israel’s humanitarian aid programs for southern Syria, saying that providing assistance to these civilians facing a merciless onslaught is “the most impressive thing that a human being can do.”However, he acknowledged that a secondary motivator for Operation Good Neighbor is the desire to win over the hearts and minds of Syrians, who have long been taught that Israel is a “monster.”Aleph said he believes that thousands of Syrians will retain some positive attitudes toward Israel, no matter the outcome of Assad’s campaign.“Nobody can erase what we did in the past six years,” he said. “I don’t think that children who came for a heart operation and we saved their lives or the thousands of people who ate Israeli food, that they would forget Israel so quickly.”Since 2013, Israel has provided medical treatment to some 4,800 people, either in field hospitals on the border or in public hospitals, mostly in northern Israel.According to the army, approximately half of those treated have been children, one-third were men, and the remaining 17 percent were women. In addition, Israel also worked with international aid organizations to open a clinic along the border in 2017 as part of Operation Good Neighbor. Since its opening last year, the clinic has treated some 6,000 Syrian patients.Hundreds of tons of food, medical equipment, clothing and diesel fuel have also been sent across the border. The IDF also facilitated the construction of two clinics within Syria, which are run by locals and NGO workers. This includes logistical coordination and sending over building materials and medical equipment, the army has said.

OZONE DEPLETION JUDGEMENT ON THE EARTH DUE TO SIN

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES HOTTER) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened,(DAY LIGHT HOURS SHORTENED) there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)(THE ASTEROID HITS EARTH HERE)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Scorching heat wave keeps Canada Day crowds low on Parliament Hill-[The Canadian Press]-YAHOONEWS-July 1, 2018

OTTAWA — A scorching heat wave has kept crowds on Parliament Hill smaller than usual for Canada Day festivities in the nation's capital.Paramedics in Ottawa have been busy responding to holiday revellers in distress, mainly due to the heat. Temperatures were above 34 C with a humidex that reached 47 C in the afternoon.By 2 p.m., paramedics had attended to 54 patients at Canada Day events. Seven people were taken to hospital with heat illnesses or heart problems."Most of what we're seeing is mostly due to heat," said Marc-Antoine Deschamps, a spokesperson for the Ottawa Paramedic Services."People have been pretty good to follow our advice ... so it has kept our call volume fairly low, but it's still busier than usual."Both Ottawa police and the parliamentary police force report that there have been no security incidents on or around Parliament Hill. But officials do say they've noticed a drop in the number of participants this year, which they attribute mainly to the heat."We've noticed there's a smaller crowd out there and probably the biggest logic behind it is the heat itself," said Const. Chuck Benoit of the Ottawa Police.Police officers themselves were also affected by the heat, and took shorter shifts to hydrate and seek air-conditioning relief throughout the day.Canadian Heritage says only 6,000 people attended the noon-hour show on Parliament Hill, which is thousands less than last year.Follow @ReporterTeresa on Twitter.Teresa Wright, The Canadian Press.
