Bloomberg-Hurricane Ian Latest: Cuba Migrant Boat Sinks Off Florida, 23 Missing-Brian K. Sullivan and Will Wade-Wed, September 28, 2022 at 8:09 p.m

(Bloomberg) -- Hurricane Ian barreled ashore in southwest Florida with a massive and deadly surge of water and catastrophic winds that are poised to make it one of the costliest storms in US history. The Category 4 hurricane made landfall west of Fort Myers near Cayo Costa shortly after 3 p.m. local time. Nearly all of Florida, home to 21 million people, braced for widespread blackouts and floods. More than 2 million people have been ordered or urged to flee. The storm is expected to cause more than $67 billion in damages and losses.“This is going to be a tragic event,” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said during a briefing as the storm neared shore. “It’s something that is going to be there for days, weeks, months and unfortunately in some circumstances even years.”A storm of this magnitude is a severe test for Florida’s infrastructure due to its low-lying and densely populated coastal areas that are prone to flooding. It comes as climate change has fueled extreme weather worldwide this year, including deadly flooding in Kentucky and Pakistan, a European heat wave that killed more than 2,000 people in Portugal and Spain, and relentless drought in the US west.Time stamps are Eastern Standard.1.8 Million in Dark as Hurricane is Downgraded (8 p.m.)-Nearly 1.8 million homes and businesses were without power Wednesday evening as Ian continued to batter the Florida peninsula. The storm had cut power to nearly all residents in three counties in the southwest corner of the state that took a direct hit, according to PowerOutage.us.At 8 p.m. local time, the storm’s winds were at 115 miles per hour (185 kilometres), making it a Category 3 hurricane, the National Hurricane Center said. The center of the storm was about 95 miles southwest of Orlando.Ian’s maximum winds were at 150 miles per hour when it made landfall.Storm Threatens to Spur Tornadoes in Battered Florida (5:20 p.m.)Tornado watches have been issued in East Central Florida until 1 a.m. ET as Ian rips through the region.“You should make the same preparations as if it is a tornado going over your house,” said Kevin Guthrie, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, during a Wednesday briefing. “Get into an interior room free of windows and have stuff to be able to protect your head and body from debris such as a blanket, mattress or even a helmet.”Cuba Migrant Boat Sinks Off Florida, 23 Missing (5:04 p.m.)-The US Coast Guard said it’s searching for 23 missing migrants near the southern tip of the Florida Keys after their boat sank while Hurricane Ian hammered the Gulf Coast. In a series of tweets, the US Coast Guard said at least four Cuban migrants were able to swim to shore near Stock Island -- just north of Key West -- after their boat sank “due to inclement weather.”Cuban migration to the US has hit a decade-long highs as the communist island is mired in economic turmoil and power outages.Ian churned across Western Cuba Tuesday, knocking out power to the entire island before making its way to Florida.More Than 1 Million Without Power In Storm’s Wake (4:44 p.m.)-More than 1 million homes and businesses are now without electricity as Hurricane Ian barrels inland, ripping down power lines and uprooting trees.More 70% of customers are without power in Lee County, where the eye of the hurricane roared ashore shortly after 3 p.m. Neighboring Sarasota County has more than 60% out, according to PowerOutage.Us, which tracks utility outages.Storm Is Fifth Strongest to Make US Landfall (4:38 p.m.)Hurricane Ian came ashore tying the record as the fifth strongest to ever make landfall on the mainland US, Bob Henson and Jeff Masters, meteorologists for Yale Climate Connection wrote. It was also tied as the fourth strongest winds to hit Florida, as it came ashore with 150 mile per hour winds on Cayo Costa, a small island west of Fort Myers, Phil Klotzbach, a hurricane researcher at Colorado State University, tweeted. The strongest was the Labor Day 1935 storm that had winds of 185 mph at landfall. Ian tied with the 1919 Florida Keys storm and Hurricane Charley, which hit the same area in 2004.Ian will likely do much more damage than Charley however because it is a much larger storm, said Daniel Swain, a climatologist at the University of California, Los Angeles, in a tweet.Blackouts Grip Florida in Wake of Landfall (3:44 p.m.)-More than 810,000 homes and businesses were without power as Hurricane Ian made landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday afternoon, according to PowerOutage.Us.The storm had cut power to 62% of the customers in Lee County, where the eye of the hurricane roared ashore shortly after 3 p.m.Ian Joins Grim Chapter in Record Book (3:12 p.m.)-Only four storms have hit the US mainland with winds stronger than Ian since modern record keeping began in 1851.The are the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, Camille in 1969, Andrew in 1992 and Michael, which struck the Florida Panhandle in 2018, according to Phil Klotzbach, a hurricane researcher at Colorado State University.Andrew and Michael were among the 10 costliest in US history, according to the National Centers foEnvironmental Information.Blow to Insurance Market (3:12 p.m.)-Ian is threatening to further upend Florida’s already unstable home-insurance market. The largest insurers reduced their presence in the state to dodge losses brought on by Atlantic hurricanes, and the smaller underwriters still active there have been forced to hike premiums and narrow coverage to keep pace with litigation and fraud. So far this year, six insurers that write policies in the Sunshine State have been declared insolvent, and a major storm could stretch the finances of the companies still standing.

Hurricane Ian Makes Landfall in Florida as 'Extremely Dangerous' Category 4 Storm-Maria Pasquini-Wed, September 28, 2022 at 3:21 PM

The powerful storm came ashore as an "extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane" with sustained winds of 150 mph shortly after 3:00 p.m. local time near Cayo Costa, according to the National Hurricane Center. In an address on Wednesday morning, hours before the storm moved over his state, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that after making landfall, the storm was expected to "slowly move across the central Florida peninsula before exiting the northeast Florida coast probably sometime on Thursday.""A storm of this magnitude will produce catastrophic flooding and life-threatening storm surges," he added. In an 11 a.m. advisory, when Hurricane Ian was still about 45 miles from Naples, the National Hurricane Center said the "extremely dangerous" storm was forecasted to "cause catastrophic storm surge, winds, and flooding in the Florida peninsula.""Ian is forecast to make landfall on the west coast of Florida as a catastrophic hurricane," the center wrote. "Weakening is expected after landfall, but Ian could be near hurricane strength when it moves over the Florida East coast tomorrow, and when it approaches the northeastern Florida, Georgia and South Carolina coasts late Friday."As the storm approached on Wednesday, areas of Florida were already experiencing "catastrophic wind damage," according to the National Hurricane Center. Winds in southwest Florida could exceed 150 mph and even reach 190 mph, the center said.Between 12 to 24 inches of rain may also fall in central and northeastern Florida, per CNN.Additionally, storm surge warnings are currently in effect in a number of areas, including Tampa Bay and the Lower Florida Keys from Big Pine Key westward to Key West. The hurricane center says that a storm surge of up to 18 feet has been forecasted along the southeast coast of the state."That's three times as tall as I am," National Hurricane Center's acting Deputy Director Michael Brennan told CNN on Wednesday morning. "That's really an unsurvivable circumstance that's going to unfold in southwest Florida over the next few hours."Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free weekly newsletter to get the biggest news of the week delivered to your inbox every Friday.DeSantis warned on Wednesday that "this is going to be one of those historic storms.""It's going to really shape the communities in southwest Florida and have a profound impact on our state," he remarked as Ian approached. "We just ask people for their thoughts and their prayers."Sean Rayford/Getty Sarasota Bay as Hurricane Ian approaches.Florida officials have said that the worst devastation is expected from Collier County up to Sarasota County, and that landfall is expected in Charlotte County."If you are in any of those counties, it is no longer possible to safely evacuate," DeSantis said on Wednesday morning. "It's time to hunker down and prepare for this storm."Roughly 2.5 million Floridians were ordered to evacuated as Ian approached the state.DeSantis has warned Floridians about the importance of taking the hurricane seriously."If you're out on the roads, get to a safe place as soon as possible," he said on Wednesday, before urging caution when leaving the home. "Don't go outside in the eye of the storm … even if it seems calm, wait to make sure the storm has actually passed."After the storm is over, people will still need to be careful, he advised."Avoid downed power lines. Avoid standing water. Stay clear of damaged trees. If you are using a generator for power, make sure that it is being operated outside your home," he continued, pointing out that it's also important not to drive in flooded streets.Gerardo Mora/Getty Saint Petersburg, Florida, prepares as first winds of Hurricane Ian arrive on WednesdayIn anticipation of the storm, Tampa International Airport has suspended operations through Thursday."TPA remains closed to the public due to #HurricaneIan and there will be no departing flights through Thursday,"  the airport said on Twitter Wednesday morning. Yahoo News-Hurricane Ian packs 'catastrophic' storm surge threat made worse by climate change-David Knowles·Senior Editor-Tue, September 27, 2022 at 2:04 PM

Hurricane Ian is forecast to make landfall Wednesday along Florida's southwest coast, bringing with it a potentially “catastrophic” 12-foot storm surge made worse by rising sea levels due to climate change. The National Hurricane Center posted a forecast on Tuesday that showed that a stretch of coastline south of Tampa Bay down to Bonita Bay could see between 8 and 12 feet of storm surge as Ian makes its way on land.“In some areas there will be catastrophic flooding and life-threatening storm surge,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said during a Tuesday news conference. “When you have 5 to 10 feet of storm surge, that is not something you want to be a part of.”Strengthening to a Category 3 storm on Tuesday, Ian was expected to intensify by day’s end into a monster Category 4 storm as it churned northeast toward Florida’s flat, low-lying coast. The storm could weaken slightly Wednesday evening before making landfall, but the storm surge it generates will remain a serious threat due to rising sea levels.Making things worse are climate change and Ian overlapping with a semiannual king tide.Sea levels around Florida have risen on average 8 inches since 1950, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with the bulk of that rise coming in recent years as increasing global temperatures have sped up the melting of the polar ice caps. Due to a variety of factors, sea level rise does not happen uniformly, and the ocean has risen in St. Petersburg, which sits on Tampa Bay, by 9 inches, according to NOAA. 9/27 11am ET: Life-threatening storm surge from #Ian is increasingly likely along the Florida west coast where a storm surge warning is in effect, w/ the highest risk from Fort Myers to the Tampa Bay region. Listen to local officials & check https://t.co/0BMJEA5Wz0 for updates! pic.twitter.com/Yvimd5FMzT — NHC Storm Surge (@NHC_Surge) September 27, 2022-All that additional water will make a dangerous situation even more so.“Life-threatening storm surge looks increasingly likely along much of the Florida west coast where a storm surge warning is en effect, with the highest risk for Fort Myers to the Tampa region,” the National Hurricane Center said in an 11 a.m. advisory issued Tuesday. “Residents in these areas should listen to advice given by local officials and follow evacuation orders if made for your area.”Mandatory evacuation orders have gone up in the nine counties: Charlotte, Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Levy, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota. Life-threatening storm surge - one of many expected hazards with Hurricane #Ian - along the west coast of Florida has prompted evacuation orders for some communities. I urge those residents to heed directions from officials! Your safety is at the heart of these tough decisions. pic.twitter.com/vu74GcuabT — NWS Director (@NWSDirector) September 26, 2022-Storm surge is not the only threat from Ian, which is also expected to pack winds exceeding 110 miles per hour when it makes landfall. It could drop as much as 24 inches of rain on sections of the west coast. While recent studies have found that climate change makes hurricanes wetter and causes them to intensify more quickly, for years scientists have warned that Florida, the flattest state in the U.S., faces extreme risks due to climate change. Worried about the potential for a worst case scenario w/ Ian. Tampa has long been a sitting duck when it comes to catastrophic storm surge. It has dodged several bullets. But it might not be so lucky this time. Stay safe Floridians. https://t.co/EUZGoMOtbI — Prof Michael E. Mann (@MichaelEMann) September 27, 2022-Fort Myers, the second-fastest-growing county in the U.S., sits at an elevation of just 10 feet above sea level. Forecasts show that South Florida can count on another 11 inches of sea level rise by 2040 as polar ice melt continues apace due to rising temperatures caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Over that same span of time, warming waters will continue to energize hurricanes at a faster rate than previously observed.

Associated Press-NKorea test launches missiles on eve of Harris trip to Seoul-HYUNG-JIN KIM and KIM TONG-HYUNG-Wed, September 28, 2022 at 5:32 AM

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern waters on Wednesday, South Korea's military said, a day before U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is to visit the South.South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that the North Korean missiles lifted off 10 minutes apart on Wednesday afternoon from its capital region and flew toward the waters off its east coast. It said South Korea has boosted its surveillance and is maintaining a military readiness in close coordination with the United States.Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida instructed officials to take “utmost caution” in case of any emergencies, while gathering information and ensuring the safety of vessels and aircraft. Japan's coast guard issued a warning to vessels in the area, but there were no reports of damage. The launches follow a missile test by North Korea earlier this week. Harris is to arrive in South Korea on Thursday for talks with President Yoon Suk Yeol and other officials. She also is to visit the tense border with North Korea, in what U.S. officials call an attempt to underscore the strength of the U.S.-South Korean alliance and the U.S. commitment to "stand beside” South Korea in the face of any North Korea threats.U.S. and South Korean navy ships are also conducting drills off South Korea's east coast in a show of force against North Korea. The four-day exercise, which began Monday, involves the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. It is the first training exercise by the allies involving a U.S. aircraft carrier near the Korean Peninsula since 2017.South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises often draw a furious response from North Korea, which views them as an invasion rehearsal. A short-range North Korean missile launched Sunday was seen as a response to the U.S.-South Korean training.North Korea has dialed up its missile testing activities to a record pace in 2022, launching more than 30 ballistic weapons, including its first intercontinental ballistic missiles since 2017. North Korea's Sunan area where Wednesday's launches occurred was the site of various missile tests this year, including two ICBMs.Earlier this month, North Korea adopted a new law authorizing the preemptive use of nuclear weapons in some situations, as it continues to escalate its nuclear doctrine. U.S. and South Korean officials have also said the North may soon conduct its first nuclear test in five years.Earlier Wednesday, South Korea’s spy agency told lawmakers that a nuclear test could happen between mid-October and early November.According to some lawmakers who attended the meeting, the National Intelligence Service said if the test occurs, it is likely to come after China, North Korea's last major ally, holds a key Communist Party congress on Oct. 16 but before the United States votes in midterm elections on Nov. 7.North Korea's torrid run of weapons tests this year is seen as exploiting divides in the United Nations Security Council over Russia’s war against Ukraine and the U.S.-China rivalry. In May, China and Russia vetoed a U.S.-led bid to impose new sanctions on North Korea over its ballistic missile tests this year, which violate U.N. Security Council resolutions.___Associated Press writer Mari Yamaguchi in Tokyo contributed to this report.

3.10 Parkinson’s dementia

So far in this section we have looked at a variety of cognitive problems in Parkinson’s, of which dementia is one. This is a complex symptom that we will explore in detail, including Parkinson’s dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies, their symptoms, causes and treatment, and information to support management of these symptoms.Dementia symptoms are caused by a significant loss of brain function. There are different forms of the condition and each person will experience dementia in their own way. Some people will develop dementia after living with Parkinson’s for some time. When someone has Parkinson’s motor symptoms for at least a year before experiencing dementia, this is known as Parkinson’s dementia.

Symptoms of Parkinson’s dementia

Symptoms can include forgetfulness, slow thought processes and difficulty concentrating. This can make communication hard, and finding words and names or following conversations can be a problem. Some people find it increasingly difficult to make decisions, plan activities and solve problems. This can make everyday activities such as dressing, cooking or cleaning increasingly hard.People can also experience changes in their appetite, energy levels and sleeping patterns. They may find themselves sleeping more during the day, or becoming less engaged with what’s going on around them. A lack of motivation or interest in things they previously enjoyed can also be a symptom.Problems such as anxiety, depression or irritability can become an issue because of dementia. Some people may also find it difficult to control their emotions and experience sudden outbursts of anger or distress, although these problems are not common. Some people with Parkinson’s dementia might also develop visual hallucinations and delusions. Some of the symptoms of Parkinson’s dementia are similar to those caused by other health issues. For example, mental health issues such as depression can mimic dementia.‘Emotionally it is hard. Sometimes we have to repeat things and remind dad where he is, but reassurance helps him.’Jennifer, whose father has Parkinson’s dementia-Side effects from medication or medical problems such as an infection may be the cause of symptoms similar to dementia, such as memory problems. Things like constipation and dehydration can also cause confusion. Symptoms caused by medication or infections can be treated effectively. What are the causes? We still don’t fully understand why some people with Parkinson’s get dementia and it isn’t entirely possible to predict who it will affect. But there are factors that put someone more at risk. Age, for example – it is rare that someone with Parkinson’s under the age of 65 will develop dementia. If someone with Parkinson’s is experiencing hallucinations or delusions early on in their condition, this also suggests an increased risk of developing dementia. If someone has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s later in life, has had Parkinson’s for a long period of time or has a family member with dementia, this can increase their risk of developing dementia.Treating dementia-As with Parkinson’s, the symptoms of dementia can’t be cured, but they can be treated. This may be done by reviewing a person’s current medication and using dementia medications.Long description-Medication can be helpful, but it’s also useful for people to get support from a wide range of healthcare professionals. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians and speech and language therapists can help the person with dementia and those supporting them. You may be one of these healthcare professionals or you may be able to suggest a referral to one.Helping with communication-The following information has been provided by the Alzheimer’s Society. Difficulties with communication can be upsetting and frustrating for the person with dementia and for those around them. But there are some basic things you can do to make life a little bit easier:

Listen carefully to what a person with dementia says.
Make sure you have their full attention before you speak.
Pay attention to body language.
Speak clearly.
Consider whether any other factors are affecting their communication.
Use physical contact to reassure the person.
Show respect and keep in mind they have the same feelings and needs as they had before developing dementia.

Listening skills

When communicating with a person with dementia, try to listen carefully to what they are saying, and give them plenty of encouragement.
If a person with dementia has difficulty finding the right word or finishing a sentence, ask them to explain in a different way. Listen out for clues.
If you find their speech hard to understand, use what you know about them to interpret what they might be trying to say. But always check back with them to see if you are right − it’s infuriating to have your sentence finished incorrectly by someone else.
If someone is feeling sad, let them express their feelings without trying to ‘jolly them along’. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just listen, and show that you care.

Attracting the person’s attention

Try to catch and hold their attention before you start to communicate.
Make sure they can see you clearly.
Make eye contact. This will help them focus on you.
Try to minimise competing noises, such as the radio, TV or other people’s conversation.

Using body language

Someone with dementia will read your body language. Agitated movements or a tense facial expression may upset them, and can make communication more difficult.
Be calm and still while you communicate. This shows that you are giving them your full attention, and that you have time for them.
Never stand over someone to communicate – it can feel intimidating. Instead, drop below their eye level. This will help them feel more in control of the situation.
Standing too close to someone can also feel intimidating, so always respect their personal space.
If someone is struggling to speak, pick up cues from their body language. The expression on their face and the way they hold themselves and move about can give you clear signals about how they are feeling.

Speaking clearly

As the dementia progresses, people will become less able to start a conversation, so you may have to start taking the initiative.
Speak clearly and calmly. Avoid speaking sharply or raising your voice, as this may distress them even if they can’t follow the sense of your words.
Use simple, short sentences.
Processing information will take someone longer than it used to, so allow enough time. If you try to hurry them, they may feel pressured.
People with dementia can become frustrated if they can’t find the answer to questions, and they may respond with irritation or even aggression. If you have to, ask questions one at a time, and phrase them in a way that allows for a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer.
Try not to ask the person to make complicated decisions. Too many choices can be confusing and frustrating.
If the person doesn’t understand what you are saying, try getting the message across in a different way rather than simply repeating the same thing.
Humour can help to bring you closer together, and is a great pressure valve. Try to laugh together about misunderstandings and mistakes − it can help.

Whose reality?

As dementia progresses, fact and fantasy can become confused. If someone says something that you know is not true, try to find ways around the situation rather than responding with a flat contradiction.
Always avoid making the person with dementia feel foolish in front of other people.

Physical contact

Communicate your care by the tone of your voice and the touch of your hand.
Don’t underestimate the reassurance you can give by holding or patting their hand, if it feels right.

Show respect-Make sure no one speaks down to the person with dementia or treats them like a child, even if they don’t seem to understand what people say. No one likes being patronised.Try to include a person with dementia in conversations with others. You may find this easier if you adapt the way you say things slightly. Being included in social groups can help a person with dementia to keep their sense of identity. It also helps to protect them from feeling excluded or isolated. If you are getting little response from someone with dementia, it can be very tempting to speak about them as if they weren’t there. But disregarding them in this way can make them feel very cut off, frustrated and sad.Other causes of communication difficulty-It is important to bear in mind that communication can be affected by other factors in addition to dementia, for example:Pain, discomfort, illness or the side effects of medication. If you suspect this might be happening, report it to your manager.Problems with sight, hearing or ill-fitting dentures. Make sure the person’s glasses are the correct prescription, that their hearing aids are working properly and that their dentures fit well and are comfortable.Parkinson’s symptoms can cause difficulties with communication.

DART TO HIT ASTEROID AT 7:10PM

HERES AN INTERESTING FACT. I WAS 2015 OR 7 YEARS WHEN THEY STARTED THIS MISSION. THE DART IMPACT WAS SUCCESSFUL.FROM ONE SMETAH TO THE 2022 ROSH HASHANA SHEMETAH.

NASA's DART asteroid-smashing mission: A complete guide

DART is the first mission to test an asteroid deflection technique. (Image credit: NASA/Johns Hopkins APL)

NASA's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission, will test a method of deflecting an asteroid for planetary defense, using the "kinetic impactor" technique.

DART mission key facts

– Launched: Nov. 24, 2021 at 1:20 a.m. EDT (0620 GMT)

– Launch site: Space Launch Complex 4, Vandenberg Space Force Base in California

– Rocket: SpaceX Falcon 9

– Target: Didymos and its moonlet Dimorphos.

– Target distance from Earth: 6.8 million miles (11 million kilometers)

Estimated cost: $313.9 million (£227.9 million)

– DART impact: Sept. 26, 2022.

DART will slam into a small asteroid — Dimorphos — in a bid to change the moonlet's orbital speed by a fraction of a percent according to NASA (opens in new tab). Though Dimorphos poses no threat to Earth, the ambitious mission mimics what NASA scientists would do if an asteroid were headed toward Earth.

The collision is expected to occur at 7:14 p.m. EDT (2314 GMT) on Sept. 26, 2022. You can watch all the action live here on Space.com on NASA TV and on the agency's website (opens in new tab).

Prophetic Convergence | Current and Historical Events, Finances, and the Shmita Year-October 12, 2021 by Curt Landry Ministries

ITS 12.55PM MON SEP 26,2022 - TISHREI 1, STARTED AT 11PM EST - 6PM ISRAEL TIME LAST NIGHT. SO FAR THE DOW WAS UP 5 POINTS AND CURRENTLY DOWN -211.20. THE MOST I SEEN IT DOWN AT 11:45AM WAS 321 POINTS. WITH 3 HOURS LEFT IN TISHREI 1 STOCK MARKET IN CANADA. WE WILL SEE IF THE ECONOMIC DISASTERS CONTINUE INTO 2022. THEN SEP 2029.

At Rosh Hashanah, we entered into the new year—5782, which is a Shmita year. If there were ever a time you needed biblical financial instruction, it would be now. In Hebrew, the word “shmita” means “a letting go” or “release.” In the Bible, the Shmita year is described as a time of rest and debt release. It is a year intended to reflect God’s principle of rest. He established six days of work and one day of rest each week. He did the same with years, a seven-year cycle that reflected the week—work the land for six years and allow it to rest for one.  “Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce, but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. In like manner you shall do with your vineyard and your olive grove. Six days you shall do your work, and on the seventh day you shall rest, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your female servant and the stranger may be refreshed.” —Exodus 23:10-12  -  “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release.” —Deuteronomy 15:1-2

The Shmita cycle gives us a timetable for understanding the prophetic convergence in finances. This is because, in ancient Israel, the land and the harvests were tied to the economy. Many of us don’t think about this now. However, the same principle applies. A nation’s economy is greatly impacted by the condition of its land. This is why so many are praying 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”With today’s current events and a look at history, you can see how we might be approaching a financial collapse of some nature.Below is a list of financial collapses that matched up with Shmitah years…Financial Disasters and Events that Occurred During Shmita Years

1916-1917 — 40% of the United States stock market value was wiped out; German, Austro-Hungarian, Russian, and Ottoman Empires collapsed; Britain, the world’s greatest empire, was almost bankrupt
1930-1931 — 86% of the United States stock market value was wiped out in the worst financial crisis in modern history
1937-1938 — 50% of the United States stock market value was wiped out; there was a global recession, and World War II began
1944-1945 — World War II ended, there was a victory parade on the 29th of Elul (the last day of the year)
1972-1973 — 48% of the United States stock market was wiped out and there was a global recession
1979-1980 — A severe recession affected the U.S. and much of the world
1986-1987 — 33% of the United States stock market value was wiped out
1993-1994 — Bond market crashed
2000-2001 — 37% of the United States stock market value was wiped out; Twin Towers were hit on 9/11, and there was a global recession
2007-2008 — 50% of the United States stock market value was wiped out; there was a global recession
2014-2015 — Sharp fall in share markets at the end of the Shmita year

This is not to say that there will be a financial disaster for everyone. But there is a warning that can help guide us to make wise choices and to get us into alignment with God’s calendar. Want to know more about the Shmita year? Click and watch the video above of Rabbi Curt Landry and Lance Wallnau discussing current events and the Shmita year. Spiritual Principles of the Shmita Year-As you can see, there are many financial connections with the Shmita year, but are there also spiritual principles we can follow? Yes! Here are three principles to prayerfully consider and take notice of during this Shmita year: Rest-Have you noticed the Spirit of God prompting you to rest and take a break from something you’ve been doing for years? It might be because He is working to get you into alignment with His calendar. “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.”—Hebrews 4:9-11-Refocus-The Spirit can move in ways to remove things from your life with the intention for you to refocus on Him. Has there been a “removal” of some kind? Ask the Lord how He wants you to refocus on Him during this Shmita year.  “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33- Trust-Trusting the Lord when the world around you seems to be crumbling can be difficult. However, this is all the more reason and time to trust His Word and promises, remembering His instruction regarding relationships, finances, and health.  “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”—Romans 8:15.

Rosh Hashanah 101 - The Jewish New Year is a time of rejoicing and serious introspection.By My Jewish Learning

ROSH HASHANAH, the Jewish new year, is a fall holiday, taking place at the beginning of the month of TISHREI., which is actually the seventh month of the Jewish year (counting from Nisan in the spring). It is both a time of rejoicing and of serious introspection, a time to celebrate the completion of another year while also taking stock of one’s life. The High Holiday Period-The two days of Rosh Hashanah usher in the Ten Days of Repentance (Aseret Yemei Teshuvah), also known as the Days of Awe (Yamim Noraim), which culminate in the major fast day of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The Days of Awe represent the climax of a longer process. Starting at the beginning of the previous month, called Elul, the shofar is traditionally sounded at the conclusion of the morning service. A ram’s horn that makes a trumpet-like sound, the SHOFAR is intended as a wake-up call to prepare for the Tishrei holidays. One week before Rosh Hashanah, special petitionary prayers called Selichot are added to the ritual. Rosh Hashanah itself is also known as Yom Hadin or the Day of Judgment, on which God opens the Books of Life and Death, which are then sealed on Yom Kippur.Rosh Hashanah History-The origins of Rosh Hashanah may be sought in a royal enthronement ritual from biblical times, though the Bible itself never mentions the “New Year” or “Day of Judgment” aspects of the holiday. Even though Rosh Hashanah falls in the seventh month, later rabbinic tradition decided to designate it the beginning of the year. Although the origin of this tradition may have been adopted from the Babylonians, the rabbis imbued it with Jewish significance as the anniversary of the day on which the world was created, or of the day on which humanity was created. Another explanation can be found in the significance of Tishrei as the seventh month, hence the Sabbath of the year.

Celebrating Rosh Hashanah At Home-round challah-The challah (traditional bread) that is eaten for the Rosh Hashanah season is round, symbolizing the eternal cycle of life. The is traditionally dipped in honey, symbolizing the hopes for a sweet New Year. The same is done with apples, which are made even sweeter with the addition of honey. Some people avoid eating nuts at this time, since according to a somewhat convoluted gematria (mystical numerical interpretation) the Hebrew words for nut (egoz) and sin (het) have the same numerical value.Rosh Hashanah Liturgy-The prayer book for the High Holidays is called the Mahzor. Three unique sets of prayers are added to the morning service during Rosh Hashanah. These are known as Malkhuyot, which address the sovereignty of God, Zikhronot, which present God as the one who remembers past deeds, and Shofarot, in which we stand in nervous anticipation of the future. Each of these sections culminates in the blasts of the shofar, the most potent symbol of the holiday. The shofar is alluded to in the most memorable reading for the holiday, the Akedah or Binding of Isaac (Genesis 22). The story and the shofar serve as reminders of the covenant between God and the people of Israel, carrying with them the message of sacrifice, hope, and continuity. Among the popular traditions associated with the holiday is a ceremony performed on the afternoon of the first day of Rosh Hashanah called Tashlich, when people throw crumbs or pieces of bread, symbolizing their sins, into flowing water. Rosh Hashanah’s Theology and Themes-This is the time of year during which we are to atone for both our individual — and on Yom Kippur, our communal — sins committed over the course of the previous year, before God literally closes the books on us and inscribes our fates for the coming year. God’s rule over humanity and our need to serve God are stressed time and again over the course of the holiday.

NOTICE EVER SINCE THE QUEEN DIED AND THERE WAS A DOUBLE RAINBOW OVER THE CITY. THAT THE DISASTERS ARE GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. THE QUEEN DIED SEP 8,22 AT 96 YEARS OLD.THE QUEEN REIGNED FOR 70 YEARS. IN THE BIBLE AFTER 70 YEARS OF CAPTIVITY ISRAEL WAS FREED.I BELIEVE THIS DOUBLE RAINBOW IS GOD GIVING US A SEVERE WARNING OF NOT FLOODING JUDGEMENT. BUT LIKE THE BIBLE SAYS. IT WILL BE BY FIRE THE FINAL JUDGEMENT ON ALL THE WORLD. AND PUTIN JUST HAPPENS TO BE THREATENING NUCLEAR WAR RIGHT NOW. IT WILL HAPPEN. THE ONLY QUESTION IS. IS THIS THE TIME NOW. OR IS IT FARTHER DOWN THE LINE. ISRAEL HAS LOTS OF LAND COMING TO THEM AT SOME POINT IN THE MIDEAST. PUTIN WILL GLADLY USE NUKLES NOW. AND ITS THE 500 MILLION FALL BIRD MIGRATION IN ISRAEL RIGHT NOW. EVERY THING COMBINED COULD MEAN EZEKIEL 38 AND 39. OR ISAIAH 83 WARS. WERE ISRAEL GETS ALL THE LAND PROMISED THEM.

2 PET 3:7 (FUTURE EARTHS JUDGEMENT)PHILLIPS
They are deliberately shutting their eyes to a fact that they know very well, that there were, by God’s command, heavens in the old days and an earth formed out of the water and surrounded by water. It was by water that the world of those days was deluged and destroyed, but the present heavens and earth are, also by God’s command, being kept and maintained for the fire of the day of judgment and the destruction of wicked men.

Genesis 9:13-16 (GODS MEANING OF THE RAINBOW)
13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds,
15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.
16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

What Does a Double Rainbow Mean? (THE WORLDS MEANING)

A double rainbow is said to denote transformation! The primary rainbow represents the material world and the secondary rainbow, the spiritual world. Therefore, a double rainbow indicates a spiritual transformation for the onlooker. Seeing double rainbows is considered to be promising as they signify new beginnings and good changes! A Scientific Explanation-Double rainbows can be seen when the sun’s rays are twice reflected within a raindrop. In the rainbow body, the colors get inverted – the red color appears on the inside while the violet is on the outside. This is because the violet light reaches the eye from a higher raindrop while the red light comes from the lower ones.

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES HOTTER) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

MATTHEW 24:21-22,221 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened,(DAY LIGHT HOURS SHORTENED) there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)(THE ASTEROID HITS EARTH HERE)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Southwestern Newfoundland grapples with catastrophic aftermath of Fiona-CBC News · Posted: Sep 25, 2022 6:22 AM NT |

Residents in southwestern Newfoundland are dealing with the aftermath of post-tropical storm Fiona, which destroyed more than 20 homes and has displaced hundreds of people. The damage in Port aux Basques was striking on Sunday morning, with boulders and debris scattered across the community.Residents were using shovels to dig through the rubble, looking for anything salvageable. Some have lost everything — including heirlooms and family photos. One woman ran away from her home sobbing, unable to bear the devastation any longer. On Sunday afternoon, the RCMP issued a press release confirming an ongoing search for a missing 73-year-old woman in Port aux Basques.Later, at a press conference held by Minister of Justice and Public Safety John Hogan and Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Elvis Loveless in St. John's, the search has officially become a recovery operation.
A wide shot of three people standing in the middle of debriS.Derek Kettle, a Port aux Basques resident, said he doesn't know what he's going to do.He owns two small apartment buildings near the coast on Mouse Island, an area in the town. He said the tenant in one of the buildings, which is two storeys, attempted to weather out the storm on the upper floor of the building — but soon, waves began crashing against the window, which is about 10 metres above sea level. On Sunday morning, the bottom floor was covered in seaweed, dirt and debris.A waist-up shot of a person with his hand on his hip. Behind him, a wide house can be seen off its foundation. To the left of the house, the water is calm. The storm surge knocked Kettle's other apartment building, which is one storey, off its foundation and onto its side.He said he's put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the buildings, which he rents out as Airbnbs and apartments. He said the buildings are the only source of income for him and his wife, and now his livelihood has been swept away — literally.-Catastrophic damage-On Sunday morning, CBC meteorologist Ashley Brauweiler said while the winds in Port aux Basques were significant, the bulk of the damage was caused by storm surge."When it came in, it came in so fast," she said. She said models predicted 16 metre waves, but the maximum wave height may have been double."All of that combined was catastrophic," she said.Brauweiler said residents have been in shock, and some on Sunday still won't even be able to access their homes — or whatever is left — because some areas are still inaccessible. Environment Canada meteorologist Melissa Field said the storm set a record-high for water levels in Port aux Basques at 2.73 metres — about a metre higher than the normal water level.Field said on Saturday, peak gusts of wind reached 177 km/h in the Wreckhouse area, 134 km/h in Port aux Basques, 110 km/h in Burgeo and 109 in Stephenville. She said about 77 millimetres of rain fell in the Port aux Basques and Wreckhouse areas, just over 47 millimetres fell in the Stephenville area and just over 30 fell in the Burgeo area. 'I have never seen this kind of destruction'Stephen Hiscock with the Burgeo Broadcasting System said the town of Burgeo has suffered significant damage, though not on the same level as Port aux Basques."It's been a pretty crazy day for everyone, especially for people in Port aux Basques, but people are still hurting here in Burgeo as well," he said.Debris, including what appears to be the top third of a grey shed, floating in the water. On Sunday morning, residents across southwestern Newfoundland are dealing with the aftermath of post-tropical storm Fiona. This photo shows some of the damage in Burgeo. (Submitted by Steven Hiscock)-He said one home was almost lost, but made it through the storm."I have never seen this kind of destruction on the south coast of Newfoundland," he said.Hundreds of Newfoundland Power customers in southwestern Newfoundland were without power on Sunday morning.Ian Stewart, mayor of Ramea, an island community off the south coast of Newfoundland, said the town is cleaning up debris and assessing damage on Sunday morning. He said the town has never seen a storm as intense as post-tropical storm Fiona."it's pretty incredible," he said.Stephenville Mayor Tom Rose said post-tropical storm Fiona was the scariest storm he's ever seen. He said the town mitigated most severe damage, but had to evacuate one home before a tree fell on top of it. He said the town has offered its help to Andrew Parsons, the MHA for the Port aux Basques area.Rose said the devastation wreaked by the storm shows the increasingly severe impact of climate change."If we don't take care of the planet the planet will take care of us," he said.

15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire,(NUKES) and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

Reuters-U.S. warns Putin of 'catastrophic' consequences if nuclear weapons used in Ukraine-BY Richard Cowan-Sun, September 25, 2022 at 12:39 PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States would respond decisively to any Russian use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine and has spelled out to Moscow the "catastrophic consequences" it would face, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday.Sullivan's remarks represented the latest American warning following the thinly veiled nuclear threat made by Vladimir Putin last Wednesday in a speech in which the Russian president also announced his country's first wartime military mobilization since World War Two."If Russia crosses this line, there will be catastrophic consequences for Russia. The United States will respond decisively," Sullivan told NBC's "Meet the Press" program.Sullivan did not describe the nature of the planned U.S. response in his comments on Sunday but said the United States has privately to Moscow "spelled out in greater detail exactly what that would mean." Sullivan said that the United States has been in frequent, direct contact with Russia, including during the last few days to discuss the situation in Ukraine and Putin's actions and threats.U.S. President Joe Biden in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday accused Putin of making "overt nuclear threats against Europe" in reckless disregard for nuclear nonproliferation responsibilities.Russia also is staging a referendum in four eastern Ukrainian regions with the goal of annexing territory that Russian forces have taken during their invasion of Ukraine launched in February. Ukraine and its allies have called the referendums a sham designed to justify an escalation of the war and Putin's mobilization drive after recent battlefield losses.By incorporating the areas of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia into Russia, Moscow could portray attacks to retake them as an attack on Russia itself, a warning to Ukraine and its Western allies. After suffering setbacks on the battlefield, Putin is mobilizing 300,000 troops while also threatening to use "all available means" to protect Russia."This is not a bluff," Putin said in the remarks viewed on the world stage as a threat on the potential use of nuclear weapons.Sullivan said on Sunday: "Putin remains intent ... on wiping out the Ukraine people that he does not believe have a right to exist. So he's going to keep coming and we have to keep coming with weapons, ammunition, intelligence and all the support we can provide."(Reporting by Richard Cowan and Hannah Lang; Editing by Will Dunham)

3 And there came out of the smoke (DEMONIC) locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Fiona makes landfall in Canada, leaving hundreds of thousands without power-By Selena Ross-Scott Dance and Helier Cheung-|Published September 24, 2022 at 3:46 a.m. EDT

MONTREAL — One of the strongest storms ever to hit Canada slammed into Nova Scotia’s coastline early Saturday, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without power.Former Hurricane Fiona made landfall early on Saturday morning over Guysborough county on the northeast corner of mainland Nova Scotia, Canada’s weather service said. There were maximum sustained winds of almost 81 mph, while peak gusts of over 100 mph were detected, it added.
Are you on Telegram? Subscribe to our channel for the latest updates on Russia’s war in Ukraine. It is the lowest pressured land falling storm on record in Canada, according to the Canadian Hurricane Center, which also described hurricane-force gusts battering the area. More than 40% of the population in Nova Scotia is affected by power outages, according to Nova Scotia power. “We are seeing significant impacts from the storm including uprooted trees, broken poles and downed power lines across the province,” the utility company added.Previously a hurricane, the National Hurricane Center declared that Fiona morphed into a post-tropical cyclone as it bolted north, exhibiting characteristics of storms with both tropical and high-latitude pedigree.Irrespective of its technical designation, forecasters cautioned that the storm would be a blockbuster.“This storm will be a severe event for Atlantic Canada and eastern Quebec,” the Canadian Hurricane Center wrote Friday. The federal agency previously said the storm had the potential to become “historic” and “a landmark weather event.”The storm was forecast to be so serious that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau postponed a visit to Japan, where he planned to attend Shinzo Abe’s funeral, at the last minute on Friday.Hurricane warnings cover most of Nova Scotia as well as Prince Edward Island and western Newfoundland, where meteorologists predict 3 to 6 inches of rain, with up to 10 inches in some areas, and hurricane-force winds of at least 74 mph. Tropical storm warnings extend from New Brunswick to eastern Quebec to northern Newfoundland, where rainfall could reach 5 inches and winds at least 39 mph.The center also predicted a considerable ocean surge, or storm-driven rise in water above normally dry land, causing coastal flooding. It predicted a “rough and pounding surf” with waves up to 26 to 40 feet (8 to 12 meters). As Fiona eyes Nova Scotia, a look at Canada’s strongest storms of the pastAhead of the storm’s arrival, Nova Scotia, home to about 1 million people, was preparing Friday for the worst.Nova Scotia Power warned of widespread power outages, with trees still in full bloom and soils relatively soft, and activated its emergency operations center. And the blackouts could be lasting, as crews will wait for winds to calm before they safely begin repairs, said Dave Pickles, the utility’s chief operating officer.Fiona, which brought devastating flooding to Puerto Rico and cut power to the entire island, is the latest marker of an Atlantic hurricane season that started slow but has suddenly turned active. The storm is one of five systems meteorologists are watching in the Atlantic basin, including one that organized into Tropical Storm Ian Friday night and could soon become a threat to Florida as a hurricane.

Hundreds of thousands of customers in Eastern Canada are without power as post-tropical storm Fiona brings intense, hurricane-strength winds and torrential rains to swaths of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Quebec's Magdalen Islands.Fiona made landfall in Nova Scotia shortly after 4 a.m. AT between Canso and Guysborough. The Canso Causeway, which links Cape Breton to mainland Nova Scotia, is closed to high-sided vehicles. As of 10:45 a.m. AT, more than 405,000 Nova Scotia Power customers were without electricity. The company says it has more than 525,000 customers. It said people can go the utility's outage map for estimated restoration times.P.E.I.'s Maritime Electric said more than 82,000 out of a possible 86,000 customers were without power.N.B. Power was reporting more than 55,000 outages, concentrated in the province's southeast. The outages are mostly in areas the company groups as "Shediac Cap Pelé," "Moncton Riverview Dieppe" and "Sackville Port Elgin."Newfoundland Power was reporting 1,133 customers without power, and Hydro Quebec reported 4,232 without power in the Gaspésie–ÃŽles-de-la-Madeleine region and1,684 in the Magdalen Islands.Hurricane or tropical storm warnings are in place throughout most of Atlantic Canada and southern Quebec.State of emergency declared in Cape Breton Regional MunicipalityThe Cape Breton Regional Municipality and neighbouring Victoria County have declared a local state of emergency and are asking residents to stay at home. The Canadian Red Cross has opened a shelter at Centre 200 in Sydney, N.S., however it was without power on Saturday morning. The municipality is planning to open additional comfort centres when local travel is safe.North Sydney fire Chief Lloyd MacIntosh spoke with CBC News as he was transporting a woman from her home to a safe location after the roof blew off her house."We pulled up, well, literally half of the roof was gone," MacIntosh said. "It's been an adventurous night to say the least."MacIntosh said there's been a lot of damage in North Sydney."Every intersection, every block of North Sydney is filled with trees. Trees have come down on homes, trees have come down on cars, there's buildings that have collapsed and there's quite a bit of damages," he said."The daylight will bring quite a few surprises for a few people."Part of s steeple came down from St. Joseph Church in Cape Breton Regional Municipality, a building that's more than 100 years old.Tree fell on fire truck with crew insideErica Fleck, the assistant chief of Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, said a tree fell on a fire truck that had a crew inside. There were live wires. She said the fire crew stayed in the truck as Nova Scotia Power technicians worked to get the crew out safely."The power lines are down everywhere," she said. "It's not safe to be on the roads."Fleck cautioned that response times will be longer because fire crews will have to remove downed trees that are in their way.In a tweet, Environment and Climate Change Canada said the highest wind gust reported in Nova Scotia has been 179 km/h in Arisaig, north of Antigonish on Nova Scotia's coast.CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin said wind gusts of 100 km/h were recorded in Moncton, N.B., shortly after 6 a.m.Wind gusts of up to 100 km/h are expected in some areas of the province over the next 24 hours, with sustained winds clocking in at 65 km/h.'Like nothing we've ever seen': Charlottetown policeIn a tweet, Charlottetown police said they are logging reports of downed trees and wires but are only responding to emergency calls."Conditions are like nothing we've ever seen," the force said in a post on Twitter.CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon said the storm approached Nova Scotia at 64 km/h but slowed significantly as it arrived in the province. This will be a long-duration event for P.E.I. and eastern Nova Scotia, he said.By 9 a.m., the centre of the storm will be moving to the western side of Cape Breton and it will slowly depart Nova Scotia.Winds will ease in mid-to-late morning for central Nova Scotia and late afternoon or evening for eastern Nova Scotia, he said.Crews from Nova Scotia Power were preparing to go up in buckets to start restoring power once wind speeds are low enough to do that safely."The safety of our customers and crews is our priority right now," said Peter Gregg, the utility's CEO. "We are seeing significant damage as Fiona moves across the province, and it's important to remember it isn't over yet. Our crews will be restoring power as quickly as possible, once it is safe to do so."Environment Canada said Fiona will reach the Quebec Lower North Shore and southeastern Labrador by late Saturday night. The agency said severe winds and rainfall, large waves and storm surges were all occurring.Environment Canada said rainfall will be significant, particularly north and west of Fiona's track, where it could lead to flooding. Some areas could see as much as 200 millimetres of rain. About 120 millimetres had already been reported in some weather stations in eastern Nova Scotia by 3 a.m.Some waves along Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore could build to be more than 10 metres, with waves along southern Newfoundland on Saturday morning reaching higher heights."Waves over eastern portions of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Cabot Strait could be higher than 12 metres," Environment Canada said.It said the western Gulf will see waves from the north up to eight metres in some places, "which will probably cause significant erosion for north-facing beaches of Prince Edward Island."The forecaster said the Magdalen Islands will also see some coastal erosion from waves.Coastal flooding is a big concern for Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, the Magdalen Islands, eastern New Brunswick and southwest Newfoundland."The highest risk for coastal flooding will be a combination of storm surge with large waves moving onshore," Environment Canada said."This is is definitely going to be one of, if not the most powerful tropical cyclones to affect our part of the country," said Ian Hubbard, meteorologist for the Canadian Hurricane Centre in Dartmouth, N.S. "It's going to be definitely as severe and as bad as any I've seen."
