Villagers in the district of Chilaw , Sri Lanka got a surprise on Monday when a rainstorm brought an unexpected bonus ...Fish.It's believed the fish were scooped up out of a river by a strong wind , regardless of how they got there they were promptly gathered up and eaten by the grateful villagers .
Villagers say that the "fish rain shower" took place on Monday with the creatures falling on the village green, roads and roofs. Some of the fish - each three to five inches (5cm-8cm) in length - were still alive and were put in a buckets of water by villagers who ate them later.

HS Students Say Pledge In Arabic: ‘One Nation Under Allah’

The principal at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, is facing a hailstorm of criticism from some very angry parents and residents.The school recites the Pledge of Allegiance weekly, on Mondays. Last Monday, a member of their “Cultural Arms Club” led the student body in an Arabic version of the pledge, replacing the words “under God” with “under Allah.”Principal Tom Lopez denies any attempt to push an Islamic agenda, saying, “These students love this country. They were not being un-American in trying to do this. They believed they were accentuating the meaning of the words as spoken regularly in English.”Principal Lopez doesn’t make any sense. Speaking unintelligible words in Arabic in some way accentuates their meaning? That is an extremely weak argument in defense of an ill-advised decision.He said the cultural clubs seeks to “destroy the barriers, embrace the cultures” that exist within the high school.That would translate into “destroy the barriers to Islam and embrace it,” correct, Mr. Lopez? The Poudre School District communications director, Danielle Clark, said they understand why parents are upset. She told Fox News, “We understand not everybody would agree with the students’ choice. We’ve heard there are some who are upset.”Let’s put his into perspective for the feeble-minded Clark and Lopez. It is not the student’s choice. They do not control the public address system. It was a school choice.Her simplistic defense included a reference to “one” supportive email and a reference to a similar mistake last year which drew controversy when the pledge was recited in Spanish. Somehow not learning from and expanding upon your previous mistakes is perceived as a viable defense for these educators.An abdication of responsibility is also part of their defense. Clark attempted to pass the buck of responsibility to the students, saying, “This is a student-initiated and student-led club. There is no school sponsor or advisor. It doesn’t come under the umbrella of the district.”Actually, the activity of reciting the pledge does come under the district. Choosing to put it into the hands of a group not regulated by their administrators does not provide absolution.“We deferred to the students because it’s their deal,” she said.One cultural club member, professing to not understand the controversy is Skyler Bowden. Bowden simplistically told The Coloradoan, “No matter what language it’s said in, pledging your allegiance to the United States is the same in every language.”Given their youth, the high school students might understandably not recognize the problems with proclaiming America as “one nation under Allah.” The grownups should and they ought to be controlling the activity.The Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR chimed in saying, “Obviously in Arabic, you would use the word Allah, but Christian Arabs would use the word Allah.” Their spokesperson, Ibrahim Hooper, claimed use of the word Allah is “not necessarily specific to Islam and Muslims.” From an American point of view, it is, whether he is technically correct or not, to Americans, in America, it’s a specific Muslim and Islamic reference.As if to reinforce the idiocy of reciting the pledge in another language, Clark said she did not hear the pledge and does not speak Arabic so she could not confirm exactly what words were used.Lopez said he has been getting a variety of accusations leveled at him, including being called a traitor. He said, “They claim they are outraged, that this is blaspheming a real major tenet of our patriotism – which in their mind the Pledge of Allegiance is only in English.”He said he’s also been accused of “pushing a Muslim Brotherhood agenda – to push Islam into the school.” He denies that was behind the decision.CAIR representative Hooper told Fox News he was dumbfounded by complaints about the Arabic version of the pledge.“How on earth is it un-American to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in another language,” Hooper asked. “It doesn’t make sense unless the people complaining are anti-Muslim or anti-middle eastern bigots.”It just might be that Americans recognize the Islamic agenda, Mr. Hooper, and are tired of having it forced upon them. “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”Pray for our nation.Unfortunately, a Madison, Wisconsin high school has decided to go against that law over the past couple months.For the past few years, this line in the Pledge of Allegiance has caused an increasing amount of debate among Americans. Despite this debate,85% of Americans still believe that “under God” should be kept in the Pledge, while only 8% do not. Forget the lawsuits, conflict, and uproar, saying that controversial line at schools daily is still part of the law.Just last month, Samantha Murphy, a brave high school junior at Madison East High School, emailed me. In her freshman year, Madison East did not offer the Pledge every morning. Her family decided to talk to the principal and school board, reminding them that it is a state law to offer the Pledge every day. They pointed out Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 118, Section 6, which states “Every public school shall offer the pledge of allegiance or the national anthem in grades one to 12 each school day.”After months of waiting and deciding if her family should go public with her school district’s unlawfulness and lack of patriotism, her school board finally obliged and started to offer the Pledge of Allegiance daily.Samantha told me: “this went on without issue from around January of 2013 until March 4th, 2014.” On March 4th, Samantha says her school began to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, and added that they thought they were “above the law.” On the first day of revision, they took out the entire line “one nation under God.” The next day, they merely skipped the words “under God.” On the third day, Thursday March 6th, 2014, they replaced the word “God” with “peace.”Although disrespectful to our great nation, we can all agree that it is a choice (under the 1st Amendment) to stand and/or recite the Pledge at school, work, or in a public setting. But the fact that Madison East High School and its school district think they can rise above, change, and disobey the law without consequence is disturbing.I applaud Samantha Murphy and her family’s courage in taking a stand with the Madison School District, but there comes a time when enough is enough. Collisions abound as May snowstorm hits Newfoundland
A May snowstorm has created dangerous driving conditions in eastern Newfoundland today, leaving police to deal with a series of collisions.Numerous cars were reported off regional highways, including the Outer Ring Road that connects St. John's with the Trans-Canada Highway.The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary temporarily closed the ORR westbound lane between Allandale Road and Thorburn Road later Tuesday morning to deal with three separate accidents.Police said nine vehicles were involved in the collisions; a two-vehicle, a four-vehicle and a three-vehicle accident all took place separately.Further west, the RCMP were warning drivers to be wary of "extremely slippery" conditions on the Trans-Canada and access roads near the Witless Bay Line. The snowfall broke a record in Gander, with 21 cm falling since Monday night. The previous record for May 6 was 13 cm, set in 1939. Numerous schools in central Newfoundland closed for at least Tuesday morning, with closures reaching as far east as Clarenville and Arnold's Cove.

The Poudre School District communications director, Danielle Clark, said they understand why parents are upset. She told Fox News, “We understand not everybody would agree with the students’ choice. We’ve heard there are some who are upset.”Let’s put his into perspective for the feeble-minded Clark and Lopez. It is not the student’s choice. They do not control the public address system. It was a school choice.Her simplistic defense included a reference to “one” supportive email and a reference to a similar mistake last year which drew controversy when the pledge was recited in Spanish. Somehow not learning from and expanding upon your previous mistakes is perceived as a viable defense for these educators.An abdication of responsibility is also part of their defense. Clark attempted to pass the buck of responsibility to the students, saying, “This is a student-initiated and student-led club. There is no school sponsor or advisor. It doesn’t come under the umbrella of the district.”Actually, the activity of reciting the pledge does come under the district. Choosing to put it into the hands of a group not regulated by their administrators does not provide absolution.“We deferred to the students because it’s their deal,” she said.One cultural club member, professing to not understand the controversy is Skyler Bowden. Bowden simplistically told The Coloradoan, “No matter what language it’s said in, pledging your allegiance to the United States is the same in every language.”Given their youth, the high school students might understandably not recognize the problems with proclaiming America as “one nation under Allah.” The grownups should and they ought to be controlling the activity.The Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR chimed in saying, “Obviously in Arabic, you would use the word Allah, but Christian Arabs would use the word Allah.” Their spokesperson, Ibrahim Hooper, claimed use of the word Allah is “not necessarily specific to Islam and Muslims.” From an American point of view, it is, whether he is technically correct or not, to Americans, in America, it’s a specific Muslim and Islamic reference.As if to reinforce the idiocy of reciting the pledge in another language, Clark said she did not hear the pledge and does not speak Arabic so she could not confirm exactly what words were used.Lopez said he has been getting a variety of accusations leveled at him, including being called a traitor. He said, “They claim they are outraged, that this is blaspheming a real major tenet of our patriotism – which in their mind the Pledge of Allegiance is only in English.”He said he’s also been accused of “pushing a Muslim Brotherhood agenda – to push Islam into the school.” He denies that was behind the decision.CAIR representative Hooper told Fox News he was dumbfounded by complaints about the Arabic version of the pledge.“How on earth is it un-American to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in another language,” Hooper asked. “It doesn’t make sense unless the people complaining are anti-Muslim or anti-middle eastern bigots.”It just might be that Americans recognize the Islamic agenda, Mr. Hooper, and are tired of having it forced upon them. Maybe we know what you are up to and people are pushing back.Principal Lopez said all of the criticism and complaints had him “worn down.”Playing the tolerance card, Lopez labeled himself as the victim, stating, “I’ve been shocked with prejudicial statements that have been made. I’ve been shocked with the lack of seeking understanding. There’s definitely suspicion and fear expressed in these people’s minds. There’s some hate.”One resident, Chris Wells put it in terms even educator Lopez could understand. Writing in The Daily Coloradoan, he said, “As a veteran and a friend of a man killed defending these children in their little games they like to play with our pledge, I’m offended. “One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”Pray for our nation.Unfortunately, a Madison, Wisconsin high school has decided to go against that law over the past couple months.For the past few years, this line in the Pledge of Allegiance has caused an increasing amount of debate among Americans. Despite this debate,85% of Americans still believe that “under God” should be kept in the Pledge, while only 8% do not. Forget the lawsuits, conflict, and uproar, saying that controversial line at schools daily is still part of the law.Just last month, Samantha Murphy, a brave high school junior at Madison East High School, emailed me. In her freshman year, Madison East did not offer the Pledge every morning. Her family decided to talk to the principal and school board, reminding them that it is a state law to offer the Pledge every day. They pointed out Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 118, Section 6, which states “Every public school shall offer the pledge of allegiance or the national anthem in grades one to 12 each school day.”After months of waiting and deciding if her family should go public with her school district’s unlawfulness and lack of patriotism, her school board finally obliged and started to offer the Pledge of Allegiance daily.Samantha told me: “this went on without issue from around January of 2013 until March 4th, 2014.” On March 4th, Samantha says her school began to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, and added that they thought they were “above the law.” On the first day of revision, they took out the entire line “one nation under God.” The next day, they merely skipped the words “under God.” On the third day, Thursday March 6th, 2014, they replaced the word “God” with “peace.”Although disrespectful to our great nation, we can all agree that it is a choice (under the 1st Amendment) to stand and/or recite the Pledge at school, work, or in a public setting. But the fact that Madison East High School and its school district think they can rise above, change, and disobey the law without consequence is disturbing.I applaud Samantha Murphy and her family’s courage in taking a stand with the Madison School District, but there comes a time when enough is enough. Such activism is apparently not enough for Democrat California Assemblyman Chris Holden, though.A recent bill he sponsored – which passed the Assembly and is now headed for the state Senate – would force high school history teachers to lavish additional praise on Barack Obama due to the supposed racial significance of his election.The fact that millions of Americans voted for a half-white candidate, he maintains, “should not be a mere footnote within textbooks,” concluding teachers should “focus on the significance of Americans overcoming our nation’s past and acknowledging that Americans are moving in the right direction.”In one respect, some conservatives might see this as a promising development. At least Holden admits Americans are by and large not a racist people – something race-obsessed activists like Al Sharpton would never concede. On the other hand, however, the bill would require that special attention be paid to Obama strictly based on his skin color, which in itself strikes many as a racial prejudice.According to his bill, the 2008 election represented a “historic step in the effort towards equality in the United States,” alleging many of the nation’s prior elections were marred by threats of violence against black voters.That election, however, turned the tables completely as Black Panthers reportedly used the same tactic against whites.The bill would also tout Obama’s involvement in the Chicago political machine during his time as a community organizer.While a local CBS affiliate reported the details of the bill, the online comments section offered a glimpse into the public’s reaction.“You have to ask WHY would a state legislature pass a LAW mandating the teaching about someone’s race rather than their conduct?” one commenter asked. “I teach my kids that race is irrelevant when judging someone. Isn’t the CA legislature being racist? Who are they pandering to now for votes??”Another poster predicted “the significance of Obama’s presidency is that the last black man has been elected president.”Several suggested that a lesson in his dangerous ideology would be more appropriate than a study of his melanin content. Collisions abound as May snowstorm hits Newfoundland
A May snowstorm has created dangerous driving conditions in eastern Newfoundland today, leaving police to deal with a series of collisions.Numerous cars were reported off regional highways, including the Outer Ring Road that connects St. John's with the Trans-Canada Highway.The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary temporarily closed the ORR westbound lane between Allandale Road and Thorburn Road later Tuesday morning to deal with three separate accidents.Police said nine vehicles were involved in the collisions; a two-vehicle, a four-vehicle and a three-vehicle accident all took place separately.Further west, the RCMP were warning drivers to be wary of "extremely slippery" conditions on the Trans-Canada and access roads near the Witless Bay Line. The snowfall broke a record in Gander, with 21 cm falling since Monday night. The previous record for May 6 was 13 cm, set in 1939. Numerous schools in central Newfoundland closed for at least Tuesday morning, with closures reaching as far east as Clarenville and Arnold's Cove.
