The Flotilla of Terror and the Coming Gog and Magog War By Templemount Faithful

The six ships of multi-national anti-Israel terrorists that embarked from Turkey, north of Israel, and sailed to Gaza, actually came to fight against Israel and to arouse the entire world to oppose Israel. It was a step towards the end-time Gog and Magog war against Israel.This is a time of G‑dly testing for all of humanity. Here is the word of G‑d from Jerusalem to the entire world: If you stand with Israel, you will stand with Me! If you are against Israel, you will stand against Me! Israel is now facing a very critical time in the path toward her redemption. The war of Gog and Magog against Israel and the coming judgment of the nations is at the door (Ezekiel 38 & 39). The entire world is going to face the most significant and difficult period in its history. We can now recognize the beginning steps of this period. At the same time that G‑d's judgment falls upon the nations who persecuted — and continue to persecute — His people Israel, G‑d is going to complete the redemption of His people Israel and the building of his end-time kingdom on the Temple Mount and in Jerusalem. During this godly end-time period and together with his chosen people Israel, He will redesign the face of humanity forever exactly as prophesied in Isaiah 2:1-5.

At this very critical hour Israel, the chosen people of G‑d and His anointed vessel, is facing violence, battles and hatred that are coming from the four corners of the world. Nations and powers — and in the midst of them the Arab and Islamic nations — are leading a cruel fight against the small nation of Israel. They are calling to remove Israel from the map of the world. Their agenda is to stop and to destroy what G‑d is doing together with His people Israel in order to rebuild His Holy Kingdom in Israel so that Israel can fulfill what G‑d anointed her to be: A holy nation, a kingdom of priests and the light to the nations (Exodus 19:5-6). Thousands of years ago G‑d called Israel to be His vessel to bring to pass His end-time dream to redesign the face of humanity according to His principles. It is not an accident that G‑d chose our present time, which is such a materialistic and immoral era, to rebuild mankind on a godly moral foundation, which is more necessary than ever before.All the nations who want to eliminate and destroy Israel are actually and simultaneously waging a fight against the Almighty G‑d of Israel in order to stop His end-time plans concerning all of mankind. The Arab-Islamic nations realize that the G‑d and people of Israel are the only obstacles preventing their plans to control the entire world and to force Islam upon all the nations.It is not an accident that the eyes and hearts of most of mankind, especially in the Western world, are covered by the excesses of hedonistic materialism that makes them blind and deaf so they can not understand the very dangerous plans of the Arab-Islamic world. At the same time they refuse to recognize what G‑d is doing with Israel for the sake of their own future. They can not hear the call of G‑d to the entire world to stand with Him and with Israel and to be a part of the rebuilding of His holy moral Kingdom that He ordained thousands of years ago to be located atop His Holy Mountain in Jerusalem among His people Israel so that His Word will go out from Jerusalem to all the nations. They prefer cheap oil and other materialistic goods that the Arab-Islamic kingdom provides for them rather than the Kingdom of G‑d with its beneficial spiritual gifts that Almighty G‑d wants to give them through His people Israel. In this way mankind brings itself closer and closer to the end-time war of Gog and Magog and the day of G‑d's judgment.I am calling every one and every nation in the world — especially the many cruel Arab-Islamic enemies of Israel to give attention to the Word of G‑d:

For the day of the L‑rd is near upon all the nations: as you have done, it shall be done to you: your deeds shall return upon your own head. For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually, indeed, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. But upon Mount Zion, there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions.(Obadiah 1:15-17)

I call every one of them to consider their ways and immediately stop their plans to remove Israel from the map of the world and from the Land that G‑d gave only to them in an eternal covenant. This vital call is to end their hatred and violence against the people of G‑d and to understand that G‑d will never allow them to fulfill their plans to eliminate Israel. Even more than at any time in the past, Israel today is G‑d's moral testimony to the entire world. The Almighty G‑d of Israel is determined to complete what He started when He re-established the Kingdom of Israel in the year 1948. He will not allow anyone or any power in the world — including the powerful leaders of worldly governments — to change His end-time plans concerning Israel or to stop the redemption of His people and the Land of Israel. G‑d will not allow any one in the world to hurt Israel, not even to touch one hair of her head. His love for Israel is unconditional and eternal.The Flotilla of Terror From Turkey in the Sea Battle Against Israel On the 31st of May, six ships of hatred, terror and violence against Israel made their way from Turkey to Gaza with the encouragement of the extremist Islamic government of Turkey, which is controlled by bands of extremist Islamic terrorists that declare again and again like their ally in Iran, Ahmadinejad, that their goal is to destroy Israel and to remove her from the map of the world. Their goal was to open the port of Gaza for the import of all kinds of heavy weapons that will originate from Iran and will help them fulfill their goal to destroy Israel. The six terror ships carried many terrorists, including members of Al-Qaeda, the terror organization that destroyed the twin towers in New York City on September 11, 2001. They brought many weapons with them. Israel could not allow herself to permit them to enter the Port of Gaza and turn it into an open-line of terror against Israel. Israel stated that if the ships wanted to deliver humanitarian products to Gaza, they could bring them to the Ashdod port where Israel would deliver the cargo to Gaza after examining the ships and their cargoes for weaponry. When the Israeli navy stopped the ships and Israeli soldiers boarded the vessels, the soldiers were attacked by the terrorists with knives and other weapons, including live-fire. The hostile terrorists started to lynch the Israeli soldiers. The soldiers had no choice but to protect themselves and to save their lives. Seven Israeli soldiers were injured, two of them critically. Nine of the terrorists were killed when they shot live-fire weapons at the Israeli soldiers. Afterwards the Israeli navy escorted the ships to Ashdod and delivered the humanitarian cargo to Gaza as Israel, herself, does all of the time.

It is a shame that most of the world started to bash and condemn Israel and in this way they gave their support to the terrorists showing their hypocrisy and immoral behavior. Instead of standing with Israel, who has not stopped sacrificing her precious sons and daughters throughout the past 62 years in order to protect herself during seven wars and the continual cruel terror of the Arab-Islamic nations that want to destroy and eliminate Israel from the map of the world. More than 22,000 Israeli soldiers and many, many thousands of civilians have fallen in these wars in order to protect Israel and the Kingdom of G‑d in the Holy Land. Today Israel says to the entire world: "No one will take from us the right to protect ourselves from the evil powers. Never again will we be taken like lambs to the slaughter as was done to us during the Holocaust and during the last 2,000 years of exile." The Almighty G‑d of Israel is together with His people Israel to protect them and to fight with them in all the fields of battle against the many enemies that are coming to destroy them. As He has defeated, together with His Israeli soldiers, all the enemies that have come against Israel, so He will do in the future. All the Islamic enemies of Israel are preparing themselves for the coming war. They believe that this time they have a chance to destroy Israel; however, the G‑d of Israel is waiting for them and is ready to fight against them and to judge all of them. Then shall the L‑rd go out, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.(Zechariah 14:3).

On the 7th of June, the Iranians declared that they are going to send to Gaza another flotilla of terror that will be followed by Iranian-armed soldiers. This is the Iran that has stated again and again during the last couple of years that her goal is to remove Israel from the map of the world. We can be sure that Israel will not allow this terror provocation and attack against Israel to come to Gaza in order to further arm the Hamas terror organization that continues to attack Israel with rockets and missiles. The terror ships to Gaza from Turkey and Iran indicate that the end-time Gog and Magog war and judgment of the Almighty G‑d of Israel upon the nations that are coming to destroy His people Israel and to stop the end-time godly event of the redemption of Israel and the entire world is behind the door.As we see, today Israel is surrounded from every side by Islamic and Arab countries who prepare themselves to remove Israel from the map of the world by war, terror and violence. The holy book of Psalms prophesies about this and calls G‑d to judge these countries:

Do not keep silence, O G‑d: do not hold your peace, and be still, O G‑d. For lo, your enemies make a tumult: and they who hate you have lifted up the head. They take crafty counsel against your people, and consult against your hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against you and said, Let us seize for our possession the pastures of G‑d. O my G‑d, make them like the whirling chaff: like the stubble before the wind. As the fire burns a wood, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire; so pursue them with your tempest, and terrify them with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O L‑rd. Let them be confounded and affrighted forever; and let them be put to shame, and perish: that men may know that you alone, whose name is the L‑rd, are the most high over all the earth.(Psalms 83:1-6,13-19 / Christian Bible: Psalm 83:1-6,12-18)

Now, the enemies of Israel have continued to circle around her from the sea as well. In the east it is Iran that prepares nuclear weapons for the goal to annihilate Israel. Iraq, with her Shi'a majority population (as in Iran) will become a part of Iran, when the American military, under orders from President Obama, will soon be removed from Iraq. Syria and the Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon continue to form the militant circle around Israel with each of them possessing between 60,000-70,000 missiles directed against Israel that have the ability to strike every centimeter of the Land of Israel. They continually threaten Israel that these missiles will destroy her in the coming war. In the Gaza Strip the Hamas is armed with thousands of rockets and missiles that persistently strike Israel. The extremist Islamic government of Turkey, that sent the ships of terror against Israel, completes from the north the circle of militancy against Israel. Other multi-national ships that are going to be sent to Gaza again to provoke Israel will complete the circle of aggression against Israel. Anti-Israel demonstrations, with thousands of people, are taking place all over the world calling for the elimination of Israel. Some of them are calling for Israel to be sent back to Auschwitz! Others, like the White House journalist Helen Thomas, called for Israelis to be sent to Germany and Poland, where six million Jews were heinously murdered in satanic ways during WWII.The meaning of all these actions and statements is very clear: the enemies of Israel, backed with the support of most of the world, prepare themselves and are making the first steps of the end-time Gog and Magog War against Israel that was prophesied by the prophets Ezekiel, Zechariah, Joel and others. Through this war the Almighty G‑d of Israel is going to show the entire world His greatness, His love, His faithfulness and commitment to the covenant that He made with His chosen people Israel and His determination to complete in our generation the end-time process of the redemption of Israel, and through Israel, that of the entire world. This will also be as it was prophesied: a war of judgment upon the enemies and nations that came to destroy Israel and G‑d's dream for a godly moral revolution throughout the world. For thousands of years G‑d has prepared His people Israel for this critical hour and promised to protect and stand with them. He called this end-time war of judgment the Gog and Magog War that will start from the north (Turkey, Syria, Russia and others):

Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, Thus says the L‑rd G‑d; In that day when my people of Israel dwell safely, shall you not know it: And you shall come from your place out of the far sides of the north, you, and many peoples with you, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: and you shall come up against my people of Israel, like a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring you against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be sanctified by you, O Gog, before their eyes. And you, son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus says the L‑rd G‑d; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: and I will turn you about, and entice you on, and will cause you to come up from the far sides of the north, and will bring you against the mountains of Israel: and I will smite your bow out of your left hand, and will cause your arrows to fall out of your right hand. You shall fall upon the mountains of Israel, you, and all your bands, and the peoples that are with you: I will give you to the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. You shall fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, says the L‑rd G‑d. And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell securely in the coastlands: and they shall know that I am the L‑rd So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not allow my holy name to be profaned any more: and the nations shall know that I am the L‑rd, the Holy One in Israel.(Ezekiel 38:14-16; 39:1-7)

The prophet Joel described this war and day of judgment with very dramatic words and colors that cause us to think of a nuclear war, especially when we see Iran's zeal towards having nuclear capabilities while she declares the removal of Israel from the map of the world. Like the prophet Ezekiel, the prophet Joel prophesies that G‑d will judge all the nations that come against Israel and He will protect His people and the Holy Land of Israel :And I will exhibit wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and the terrible day of the L‑rd. For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring back the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will enter into judgment with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and have divided up my land. Joel 3:3-4; 4:1-2

The atmosphere in Israel at this special time is that the Gog and Magog war is really at the door. On June 6th, a conference of rabbis took place from the Jewish villages and cities located in the biblical heartland of Gush Etzion in Judea and Samaria. They called to Israel to get ready for the Gog and Magog war that is indicated by the violence surrounding Israel.Everyone feels the significance of this special godly time. It looks like Israel is again alone among the nations. But everyone in the world should know that we do not feel alone because we know and we feel that G‑d is with us and among us, and we feel very safe with Him. There is no fear in Israel from all those many enemies and nations that are preparing themselves to eliminate Israel. Whom shall we fear if G‑d is with us? In a time when violence and hatred is coming from most of the world against Israel, and the President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, is putting pressure on Israel to divide her land and also Jerusalem, and to surrender to her Arab-Islamic enemies, Israel feels that we should answer President Obama: No! And to remind all of them of the Word of G‑d to Israel since ancient times: Israel is a people that shall dwell alone and shall not consider the nations. Numbers 23:9. But Israel should consider, listen and obey only their Beloved Almighty G‑d, the G‑d of Israel. We should always remember what G‑d said to Israel from the ancient times,I chose you not because you are the majority of all the nations, but because you are the minority of all the nations and I love you. But together with Me, you are the majority and the entire world is the minority:For you are a holy people to the L‑rd your G‑d: The L‑rd your G‑d has chosen you to be a special people to himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth. The L‑rd did not set his love upon you, or choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all peoples: but because the L‑rd loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn to your fathers, has the L‑rd brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the L‑rd your G‑d, He is G‑d, the faithful G‑d, who keeps covenant and grace with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; and repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face.Deuteronomy 7:6-10

In these days Israel is lifting her eyes, face and heart to heaven to the G‑d of Israel. We know, as always, that salvation for Israel will come from the beloved G‑d of Israel, who will fight together with His faithful Israeli soldiers that are ready to fight against the many enemies of the G‑d and people of Israel and to sacrifice everything when it is needed for Him, for His people, for His Land and for the betterment of mankind throughout the world.A few words of love to the many, many friends and lovers of Israel and the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement who are all over the world and are standing strongly with Israel and her Faithful Movement of G‑d at this time of darkness. JAKARTA, Indonesia – A series of powerful earthquakes rattled Indonesia on Wednesday, killing at least three people, triggering landslides and demolishing dozens of homes. A tsunami warning sent panicked residents fleeing buildings to high ground.The 7.0 magnitude quake was centered 18 miles (29 kilometers) beneath the ocean floor and 125 miles (195 kilometers) off the northern coast of Papua province, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its website. It was accompanied by a series of strong aftershocks, the highest measuring 6.4.More than 20 houses collapsed in Serui, a town in Yapen district, sparking fires in at least seven places, said police spokesman Lt. Col. Wachjono, who like many Indonesians uses only one name. Two bodies were pulled from beneath the rubble.Police and rescuers are still searching for other victims in remote areas, he said.Hundreds of people ran out of their homes, said Yan Pieter Yarangga, a resident from the town of Biak. Fearing a tsunami, people fled beaches and some raced for high ground. I ran too, I was afraid there would be a second quake,he said.

The tsunami warning was later lifted.

When the electricity was cut, some women and children screamed in terror, said Sgt. Junaidi, a local police official, who also goes by one name. Flash floods claim 10 lives in southern France

DRAGUIGNAN, France (AFP) – Heavy rains triggered flash floods in the mountains above France's southern Cote d'Azur region, killing at least 10 people, a local official said Wednesday.Another four people were still missing, the deputy prefect of Draguignan, Corinne Orzechowski, told AFP.The rains on Tuesday caused water levels to rise swiftly by several metres, preventing many people from fleeing to higher ground and forcing some to seek shelter on the roofs of their homes.Overnight, rescue workers concentrated on helping hundreds of people trapped in their vehicles, houses or on rooftops, the secretary general for the Var region, Olivier de Mazieres told AFP.Helicopters had already airlifted some people to safety, he added.There were deaths in the towns of Arcs, Draguignan, Luc, Muy and Roquebrune-sur-Argens, Orzechowski said.Five bodies had been identified, but the bodies of the other five had not yet been recovered, she added.On Tuesday, emergency services had to let the body of a woman float away because the currents were too strong to attempt a recovery.A spokesman for Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said he would visit the region later Wednesday.We haven't seen anything like this in a decade, said the top official for the Var department, Hugues Parant, noting that 180 millimetres (seven inches) of rain had fallen within 12 hours.In a few minutes the water rose by 50, then 60 centimetres, said one AFP reporter caught in the flooding at Draguignan. At least 35 dead in south China flooding

BEIJING (AFP) – At least 35 people have died and 49 are missing after torrential downpours in southern China triggered heavy floods, and authorities have warned of more rain to come, state media said Wednesday.More than 100,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes due to the floods, which damaged 7,000 houses and caused economic losses of 830 million yuan (120 million dollars), the official Xinhua news agency reported.The provinces of Fujian and Sichuan, in China's southeast and southwest respectively, as well as the southern region of Guangxi were the hardest hit, it said.Torrential rain that started pelting parts of China's south on Sunday were expected to continue into Thursday, the national meteorological centre said.

The centre has warned local authorities to prepare for more flooding and disasters such as landslides, Xinhua added.On Tuesday, 23 people were killed when part of a mountain made loose by heavy rain cascaded onto a construction site in Sichuan, slamming into tents where workers were sleeping.

Guatemala lowers Tropical Storm Agatha death toll

GUATEMALA – Guatemala's disaster agency has lowered the nation's death toll from Tropical Storm Agatha to 165.Officials previously reported 174 dead, but have since determined that some victims were counted twice.Disaster agency spokesman Carlos Bianchi said Tuesday that 18,700 homes were destroyed, more than double the 7,000 previously reported.Officials estimate that Agatha caused nearly $475 million in damage nationwide.The storm hit May 29 and brought the heaviest rains Guatemala has seen in 60 years.Across Central America, flooding and mudslides unleashed by Agatha killed nearly 200 people.

JERUSALEM – Israel will significantly ease its bruising land blockade of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, officials said, in an effort to blunt the widespread international criticism that has followed a deadly Israeli commando raid on a blockade-busting flotilla.Senior Cabinet ministers were meeting to limit restrictions on what gets into Gaza — materials Israel says militants could use in their battle against the Jewish state — to a short list of goods, some of them desperately needed by Gaza civilians.But the Israeli naval blockade that was at the root of the deadly raid that prompted the international outcry will remain intact.It also wasn't clear whether key raw materials for industry would be permitted to enter again and whether Israel would end its ban on Gazan exports.The three-year-old embargo has shuttered hundreds of Gazan factories, put tens of thousands of people out of work and brought the territory's fragile economy to a standstill. Travel restrictions that confine most of Gaza's 1.5 million people to the territory are also likely to remain in effect.Israel, with Egypt's cooperation, has blockaded the Palestinian territory by land and sea ever since Hamas militants, with a violent anti-Israel agenda, seized control of Gaza in 2007.

For the most part, only basic humanitarian goods have been allowed in.Items such as cement and steel, badly needed to rebuild homes and businesses after Israel's war in the territory last year, have barely been allowed in. Israel says militants can use them to build weapons and military fortifications.Under the new guidelines, those materials will be allowed in to an undetermined extent in coordination with the United Nations, but won't be freely available to private citizens, Israeli officials said. Restrictions on things like school supplies, books, computers and toys are expected to be lifted.It would be nice for Gaza residents to be able to receive previously banned items such as paper, toys and computers, said Sari Bashi, an Israeli activist whose Gisha rights group has been fighting to open Gaza's borders. But Gaza residents need to be able to receive raw materials in order to engage in productive, dignified work.The blockade was designed to keep out weapons, turn Gazans against their militant Hamas rulers and pressure the Iranian-backed Hamas to free a captive Israeli soldier. It did not achieve those aims, however, and both weapons and goods sold at black market prices continued to flow into the territory through a large network of smuggling tunnels built under the Gaza-Egypt border.The blockade did not provoke an international outcry until Israeli commandos killed nine Turks two weeks ago in a raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla that sought to draw attention to the blockade's effects.

Just one day after the publication of the official State Inquiry report documenting the government's failure in its treatment of the 9,000 Disengagement expellees, a recording of former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon promising not to uproot any Jewish towns comes to light. Veteran Arutz-7 reporter Moshe Priel found the recording, which he said was made just two weeks before Sharon announced his Disengagement plan, in his personal collection. It occurred at a dedication ceremony in the Ramot neighborhood in Be'er Sheva.The recording begins with Priel approaching Sharon and asking him as follows: A British newspaper reported yesterday that if the terrorist attacks continue, you plan to respond with a very strong hand against the terrorists, and then to remove Jewish towns, especially in Gaza. What is your reaction? Sharon responded, Look, allow me to relate to the second part. I don’t intend to uproot any Jewish town, and therefore all those who circulate these rumors have no basis. As you see, I am here with the [Housing and] Construction Minister, the Deputy Construction Minister, the Director-General of [the] Construction [Ministry] – everything is construction, right? We’re not destroying, just building.

Just two weeks later, on December 18, 2003, Sharon appeared at the Herzliya Conference and said, If, in a few months, the Palestinians still continue to disregard their part in implementing the Road Map - then Israel will initiate the unilateral security step of disengagement from the Palestinians... She also voiced support for an international campaign to persuade countries and businesses to divest, boycott or sanction Israel.Liberal MP Bob Rae, outraged, told The Canadian Press, The only conclusion you can draw from what she said is that there is no legitimacy to Israel's existence since 1948. Someone who would say such a thing and who would mouth these words and says these things should not have a serious political office in a major political party.Both Tories and Liberals have called for Davies' ouster, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who compared her with anti-Semitic Washington journalist Helen Thomas. Jordan's King Bashes Israel for Stopping His Nuke Plans

In a tone bespeaking souring relations between Israel and its eastern neighbor, King Abdullah of Jordan is accusing Israel of thwarting Jordanian nuclear aspirations in order to economically dwarf the Hashemite Kingdom.In a biting interview with the Wall Street Journal, King Abdullah called Israel underhanded in efforts he says Israel is undertaking to ensure that nations will not supply Jordan with nuclear-related technology.According to Abdullah, Israel has pressured France and South Korea not to sell nuclear technology such as generating reactors to Jordan, which says it is developing nuclear power for peaceful means.Israel has denied Abdullah's accusation.The United States has expressed support for Jordan's nuclear objectives, but disapproves of Jordan producing its own nuclear fuel. In 2007, Jordan discovered over 65,000 tons of uranium ore in the desert outside Amman, a significant find for a country 95% dependent on foreign oil and possessing paltry drinking water reserves. Even if it were to purchase reactor fuel elsewhere, Jordan would make major economic gains by producing and exporting nuclear energy.However, the US and Israel maintain concerns over Jordanian atomic development. Israel has publicly expressed concern over Jordanian plans to build a research nuclear reactor in the port city of Aqaba. A seismic fault line lies nearby.

In the meantime, Abdullah has purchased a research reactor for one of Jordan's universities. He has also ordered his foreign minister to issue a formal reprimand to Israel's ambassador to Jordan in regard to Israel's alleged obstruction of Jordan's nuclear program.Abdullah chose to focus on his belief that Israel's opposition to Jordanian nuclear power is a bid to keep his country down.There are countries, Israel in particular, that are more worried about us being economically independent than the issue of nuclear energy, and have been voicing their concerns, King Abdullah told the Wall Street Journal. Israel National News has learned that the Last Supper Room is off the negotiating table, at least for now, in talks between Israel and the Vatican orchestrated by Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon.It's been a good day for Israeli sovereignty, according to a source in Israel's Foreign Ministry who responded Tuesday night to an Israel National News report earlier in the day. The source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information involved, said the negotiations have focused on three areas: the issue of sovereignty over some 21 properties, taxation, and land expropriation. We [ultimately] agreed to maintain the status quo in many areas,he said.

One of the most difficult points of contention between Israel and the Vatican is the question of who controls the Last Supper Room. The room is said to mark the burial site of Kings Solomon and Hezekiah, and is also located in the same structure that houses the tomb of King David. Further complicating the matter is the fact that the building is known as the oldest Catholic church in the world, and has also served as a synagogue and as a mosque -- in fact, Muslim inscriptions can still be seen on its walls. To simplify matters, the Last Supper Room was taken out of the agreement.We basically reached the principle that it will not be part of this agreement, the source said.We have wanted the status quo, and they have wanted sovereignty,since negotiations began 11 years ago.At this point, it will not be discussed as part of this agreement, which is progress.Progress was also apparently made on the issue of Israel's right to expropriate land when necessary, albeit not without some caveats. The status quo was maintained on most of the 21 disputed properties in the Land of Israel, but there were six outstanding exceptions in which Israel has allegedly agreed not to confiscate land unless there is an extreme need: the Mount of Beatitudes, Tabha, Capernaum, the Church of the Annunciation, Mt. Tabor and the Garden of Gethsemane. Obviously if there is a security situation, the State of Israel can expropriate, as is the sovereign right of any nation,the source said. After 11 years, that's real progress,he said.On the issue of taxation, it was agreed that the Catholic Church would begin to pay taxes on those properties that are not specifically used for religious purposes, and that the Vatican will now be treated like all other religious bodies.In practice, this means that the state will continue to exempt religious properties such as churches and monasteries from being taxed – but it is a significant step in that it now requires the Church to pay taxes on its myriad other properties. This may prove to be a major windfall for the government, because up to now the Vatican has never paid taxes on any of its properties in Israel. Ahmadinejad: Iran has conditions for talks with EU

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's president says Tehran supports a dialogue with the outside world but that world powers must first be punished for the latest round of U.N. sanctions imposed on Iran.Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says these are conditions for Iran to sit and talk with those behind the new punitive U.N. measures.His remarks come after EU's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, this week invited Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili to discuss the nuclear issue.Ahmadinejad spoke on Wednesday in the town of Shahr-e-Kord in central Iran.The U.N. Security Council last week passed a fourth set of sanctions to curtail Iran's nuclear program over fears it is to develop weapons. Iran denies the charge.

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran's parliament speaker says lawmakers are backing the government's push to move ahead with the country's nuclear program.The remarks by Ali Larijani come in defiance of the latest U.N. sanctions imposed over Iran's refusal to halt uranium enrichment — a process that can be used to make nuclear fuel for power plants or lead to nuclear arms production.Larijani says Iran must not back down from producing uranium enriched to a higher, 20 percent level.He says it's needed after a deal fell through to exchange Iran's low-level uranium for 20-percent enriched one in the form of fuel rods from abroad, for use in a Tehran research reactor.Larijani spoke at an open session of the parliament on Wednesday.Tehran denies it's seeking to make nuclear weapons.

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea urged the U.N. Security Council to impartially handle the deadly sinking of a South Korean warship blamed on the secretive state, warning Wednesday ongoing tension over the incident could trigger nuclear war.The threat came hours after the country's U.N. ambassador told reporters at a rare news conference in New York that its military will respond if the world body questions or condemns North Korea over the sinking. Sin Son Ho repeated his regime's position that it had nothing to do with the sinking that killed 46 South Korean sailors.The U.N. Security Council must fulfill its responsibilities by bringing to light the truth of the incident impartially and objectively, the North's main Rodong Sinmun newspaper said in a commentary Wednesday.The paper said tension is running so high on the peninsula that any accidental incident could trigger an all-out conflict, even a nuclear war.Indeed, a very dangerous situation — in which a minor accidental incident could trigger an all-out war and develop into a nuclear war — is fostered on the Korean peninsula now,said the commentary, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.North Korea, which is believed to have enough weaponized plutonium for at least a half-dozen nuclear weapons, has made similar threats in the past to wield its atomic arsenal in times of tension with the outside world. Experts are doubtful, however, if the country has the means to use a nuclear weapon in battle.South Korea has taken punitive measures against North Korea, including trade restrictions, after blaming it for torpedoing the warship Cheonan near their tense sea border on March 26. The North reacted angrily, declaring it was cutting off ties with Seoul and threatening to attack.

South Korea's military dismissed North Korea's nuclear warning as routine rhetoric but said it was closely watching the North Korean military.We're maintaining our vigilance against any North Korean provocation, said an officer at the Joint Chiefs of Staff on condition of anonymity citing department policy. LONDON – Shares in BP PLC fluctuated in London trading Wednesday ahead of what promises to be a tense meeting between the oil company's chairman and U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington.Obama has vowed to make BP pay for all of the damage caused by its leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico, and has demanded that the company set up an independently controlled fund to assure that it will pay.I will meet with the chairman of BP and inform him that he is to set aside whatever resources are required to compensate the workers and business owners who have been harmed as a result of his company's recklessness, Obama said in an address from the White House on Tuesday.That idea has been kicking around for a while, and Obama's statement didn't rattle the markets.BP shares initially fell 0.6 percent as the London Stock Exchange opened Wednesday, but recovered to rise about 1.5 percent to around 345 pence in the first hour of trading. Shares had traded at about 655 pence before the April 20 explosion which killed 11 workers on the drilling rig.Obama has invited BP Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, who has kept a very low profile since the leak erupted eight weeks ago, to the White House meeting.BP said Wednesday that Group Chief Executive Tony Hayward, BP America President Lamar McKay and Managing Director Robert Dudley would accompany Svanberg.The company had said Tuesday that it shares Obama's goal of shutting off the well as quickly as possible, cleaning up the oil and mitigating the impact on the people and environment of the Gulf Coast. Obama has come under pressure for his response to the crisis.An Associated Press-GfK poll released Tuesday found 52 percent of those surveyed don't approve of Obama's handling of the spill, but 83 percent disapprove of BP's performance.BP said Tuesday it had approved initial payments on 90 percent of commercial large loss claims filed so far. The 337 checks totaled $16 million for businesses that had filed claims of more than $5,000, BP said.The company added that it has issued approximately 25,000 checks totaling $63 million to cover small and large claims, and expects the total to rise to $85 million by the end of the week.BP, which earned a profit of $6.1 billion in the first three months of this year, says it has spent in excess of $1.4 billion so far in attempts to stop the flow of oil billowing up from the seabed.On June 3, the company announced it had set up a $360 million escrow account to pay for the construction of six sections of Louisiana barrier islands approved by the U.S. government.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals in the European Parliament on Tuesday (15 June) expressed their dissatisfaction at the newly negotiated EU-US bank data transfer deal for combating terrorism, threatening to veto it again after having rejected an earlier version in February.We regret that the European Commission seems to have already closed the negotiations on a draft agreement that is far from being approvable, Martin Schulz, the leader of the Socialist group said in a press statement. Earlier that day, the EU executive gave the green light to a draft agreement with the US negotiated by home affairs chief Cecilia Malmstrom. The text still needs approval of member states and the consent of the European Parliament.The deal is a positive step and incorporates important changes to accommodate the concerns raised earlier by the European Parliament, the American ambassador to the EU, William E. Kennard, said in a press statement.MEPs who spearheaded the rejection of the previous deal in February have again voiced serious criticism of the agreement however, to the dismay of EU commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso. During his monthly question time in the Strasbourg plenary, he reminded deputies of the importance of the transatlantic relationship and suggested it is important to send a positive signal to Washington.The crux of the dispute is the issue of bulk data, which MEPs want to see filtered on EU soil, instead of sending it in bulk form to the US for processing. Justice commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom explained on several occasions that the company facilitating international bank transactions, Swift, does not have the technical capability to filter out single transactions between individuals or organisations suspected of funding terrorism. This is done in Washington's Treasury Department, as part of the Terrorism Funding Tracking Programme,which was put in place in the aftermath of the 2001 attacks on New York and Washington. In 2006, Europeans were aghast to discover that Swift had a mirror data base on US soil, which was accessed by American investigators. Some 60 percent of all international transactions originate in Europe.Following the scandal, the Belgium-based company decided to reconfigure its database so that European transactions were no longer mirrored in the US. The change occurred on 1 January, with Washington saying that both the US and Europe have had a security gap ever since, since the tracking program has in the past produced valuable leads on terrorist activity.The new bilateral agreement makes room for several EU and independent auditors, while the US says that the bulk data is encrypted and can only be accessed in a specifically targeted search for a certain name, which is already part of an anti-terrorism investigation. No mining or random scrolling through the various transactions is allowed.They won't be able to see what Cecilia has been transferring lately,Ms Malmstrom stressed in a press conference.

MEPs from the Liberal and Green camps are unimpressed, however. The US has the capacity to filter, so it can be done. We need to get the technology and do it here in the EU,Dutch Liberal MEP Sophie in 't Veld told EUobserver. In her view, the problem lies more with member states, which are not willing to deal with the problem themselves and prefer outsourcing the security work to the US on the principle you have the needle, we give you the haystack.The provision of involving the EU's police agency, Europol, in the process of authorising data requests from the US – a novelty compared to the interim deal rejected in February – is very deceptive, Ms in't Veld said.Instead of having Europol carry out the searches itself and transfer only the terrorist leads to the US investigators, she argued, its role would a mere rubber-stamping one – to look at the compliance of US requests with the agreement, not at the actual data.The Socilaists' Mr Schulz also said his group has serious concerns on the involvement of Europol.Ms Malmstrom speaking in parliament defended the involvement of Europol as the only legal solution for responding to data requests from the US in an EU framework.From the perspective of Germany's Green MEP Jan Philipp-Albrecht, the message is clear: The European Commission risks another rejection in the European Parliament ... Bulk data about completely unsuspicious persons will still be transferred to US authorities and stored there for five years. This is in breach not only of the binding EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, but also of recent rulings by the German Constitutional Court.The centre-right European People's Party, which in February voted in favour of the deal, may still gather enough votes to push the agreement through. But some fine-tuning in the Council of Ministers may be required to get the necessary majority on board.

Tough times push three more outside EU budget rules

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The EU's economic malaise has forced a further three states to breach the bloc's budgetary limitations, just days before EU leaders are to meet in Brussels to discuss ways to overhaul the tattered rulebook.Speaking from Strasbourg on Tuesday (15 June), European economy commissioner Olli Rehn announced that Cyprus, Denmark and his home country, Finland, are to join the growing pack of excessive deficit countries, as defined by the EU's Stability and Growth Pact.The entry into the excessive deficit procedure of these countries, which until recently had surpluses, shows the severity of the economic and financial crisis we have gone through, said Mr Rehn. With even the formerly fiscally virtuous exceeding the EU's deficit and debt limits, three and 60 percent of GDP, respectively, the number of states still in compliance can now be counted on one hand. Estonia, Luxembourg and Sweden are still considered to be budgetary angels by the commission, with Bulgaria technically still in compliance, but likely to be put into the excessive deficit procedure once we can examine their data, said Mr Rehn. Earlier this month, the EU executive body signaled that it plans to send a team of number crunchers to Sofia to scrutinise the country's budgetary data due to doubts over its veracity. The commission recommends that member states set a deadline of 2011 for Finland to correct its budgetary position, 2012 for Cyprus and 2013 for Denmark - the timetable procedure being the main thrust of the excessive deficit procedure, which has never resulted in any member state getting a fine.

Progress by other states

The 12 EU states for whom timetables have already been set had their progress assessed, with Portugal and Spain uppermost in the minds of investors.Both states have recently outlined additional measures in response to growing pressure from markets to decrease their budgetary deficits.All capitals, including the southern two, were told actions to date were in accordance with the commission's previous recommendations, while further details on specific measures to reach deficit targets for 2011 were requested.

Slovakia may hold up eurozone rescue fund

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The emerging new leadership in Slovakia has said the country will not contribute its share of the €110 billion rescue package for Greece. In addition, Bratislava is likely not to add its signature to the €750 billion eurozone support mechanism - something that could put the entire project on ice. Sources say that by Wednesday (16 June), all countries sharing the single currency are expected to have signed the so-called Framework Agreement on the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), a legal instrument agreed by finance ministers earlier this month following the risk of Greece's debt crisis spreading to other weak economies. It would be a serious blow to the EFSF and the euro area's ability to stand behind its members [if a member does not sign],a senior eurozone official told this website. He explained that all 16 signatures on the document - which specifies provisions on how to issue loan guarantees if necessary - are required to bring the emergency mechanism to life.The cabinet of outgoing social democratic Prime Minister Robert Fico, who will not return to power after last weekend's elections, has decided to leave the sensitive issue to his successor after EU bail-out plans featured prominently in the campaign.Conservative politician Iveta Radicova, the likely next prime minister, described the bloc's €750 billion rescue fund during the pre-election debates as bad, dangerous and [the] worst possible solution.Slovakia is expected to contribute some €816 million over the next three years as its share of the euro bail-out scheme - a figure reportedly amounting to the annual budget of the country's interior ministry.

On Tuesday (15 June), Ms Radicova also re-iterated that she is against Slovakia providing any financial support to Greece.In a situation when we must deal with floods, [when] we do not have enough resources and the use of European funds is insufficient ... we will primarily channel resources to solving flood consequences, and that is how I will present it during talks in Brussels,she told press, shortly after four centre-right parties signed a declaration on political co-operation that should result in a new government.Previously, the newest eurozone member state had been content to sign the so-called inter-creditor agreement that paved the way for Greece to receive the first tranche of the loan - €80 billion from the euro area and €30 billion from the International Monetary Fund.The deal still needs the approval of the Slovak parliament, however.
