Fukushima Reactors a Raging Nuclear Inferno
Kurt Nimmo Infowars.com May 18, 2011

Professor Christopher Busby, who sits on the European Committee on Radiation Risks, told RT yesterday that the reactors at Fukushima are a raging nuclear inferno and he believes at least one of the reactors is now outside its containment structure and emitting vast amounts of radiation into the atmosphere. The Japanese newspaper Asahi reports today that data reveals meltdowns occurred at the No. 2 and No. 3 reactors. Goshi Hosono, special adviser to Prime Minister Naoto Kan, acknowledged the likelihood of meltdowns. We have to assume that meltdowns have taken place, Hosono said at a news conference May 16.Infowars.com and other alternative news sources reported the probability of a nuclear meltdown at the plant, but this was virtually ignored by the corporate media.Soon after an earthquake and tsunami crippled the plant, nuclear experts said meltdowns occurred at all three reactors. TEPCO and the corporate media downplayed the possibility of nuclear meltdown. On April 17, TEPCO released a schedule to reach a cold shutdown at the Fukushima plant within six to nine months, but eventually had to revise the schedule.Nuclear experts indicate more than a decade will be required to remove the melted fuel, eliminate the contamination, and dismantle the reactors.Public release of data on the situation at the plant, which had been kept at the central control room, was delayed because it took time to restore power and remove radioactive materials attached to the papers, according to TEPCO. According to the data, the pressure in the pressure vessel of the No. 2 reactor dropped at 6:43 p.m. on March 15. A similar drop in pressure also took place at the No. 3 reactor at 11:50 p.m. on March 16.We have yet to be able to grasp the entire situation at the plant, a TEPCO official said on May 16.Radioactive technetium was discovered in water in the No. 3 reactor building. The discovery raised speculation that the melted nuclear fuel has breached the pressure vessel and landed in the containment vessel. Technetium is produced when nuclear fuel rods are damaged.

TEPCO: Nuclear meltdown occurred 16 hours after earthquake, more on the way Ethan A. Huff NaturalNews May 18, 2011

The truth has finally come out, as officials from the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) now admit that fuel in Reactor 1 of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex melted just 16 hours after the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit the area on March 11, 2011. When asked why it took more than two months to reveal this critical information, TEPCO officials claim that a lack of data left the company unaware of the core’s true condition until only recently — and new reports indicate that other meltdowns could soon follow.According to a recent report from The Mainichi Daily News (MDN) in Japan, TEPCO officials recently announced that, based on new data, water levels in the pressure vessel at Reactor 1 began to drop rapidly within just a few hours after losing power at 3:30 pm on March 11. By 7:30 pm, fuel was fully exposed, and by 9 pm, reactor core temperatures reached an astounding 2,800 degrees Celsius, or 5,072 degrees Fahrenheit. And by 6:50 am the next morning, a full meltdown occurred (http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news…).

So for all the time that electric power was out in multiple reactors, causing the cooling systems to fail, and during the months after it was widely known that water levels were consistently dropping in Reactor 4 due to leaks, TEPCO played the ignorance card, acting as though it had no idea how serious the situation at the plant actually was. Surely the company must know, even without access to a detailed analysis, that when cooling systems fail and fuel rods become fully exposed, a meltdown is sure to follow — even regular folks with no background in nuclear technology can put two-and-two together to figure that one out.But apparently TEPCO thinks it can keep playing dumb, and that the world will simply believe whatever it says. This new revelation, however, proves that the company is greatly underestimating the fallout from the situation at best, and deliberately hiding the truth at worst. Either way, the situation is far more dire than we have all been led to believe.[TEPCO] could have assumed that when the loss of power made it impossible to cool down the reactor, it would soon lead to a meltdown of the core, said Hiroaki Koide, professor of nuclear safety engineering at Kyoto University, to MDN.TEPCO’s persistent explanation that the damage to the fuel had been limited turned out to be wrong. And shortly after the announcement about Reactor 1, The Telegraph reported that two more Fukushima reactors may soon suffer a meltdown as well. Efforts to cool fuel in Reactors 2 and 3 have failed, and experts say that if the reactors cores have not already melted, they soon will (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor…).

Nearly all Android phones leak sensitive personal data, tests show Digital Trends Andrew Couts – MAY 17,11

Google Android LogoGoogle’s privacy woes just got worse. According to a study by researchers at a German university, more than 99 percent of all smartphones that run Google‘s Android operating system can easily be infiltrated by mobile hackers. The attackers can then use the leaked data to impersonate the rightful user, and access online accounts, such as Google Calendar, Twitter and Facebook.According to the University of Ulm researchers, Bastian Konings, Jens Nickels, and Florian Schaub, the Android vulnerability is due to an improper implementation of the ClientLogin protocol, which is used in Android versions 2.3.3 and earlier, reports The Register. Once a user submits his or her login information, ClientLogin receives an authentication token that is sent as a cleartext file. Because the authentication token (authToken) can be used repeatedly for up to 14 days, hackers can access the information stored in the file, and use it to do their nefarious bidding.

We wanted to know if it is really possible to launch an impersonation attack against Google services and started our own analysis, write the researchers on their blog. “The short answer is: Yes, it is possible, and it is quite easy to do so. Further, the attack is not limited to Google Calendar and Contacts, but is theoretically feasible with all Google services using the ClientLogin authentication protocol for access to its data APIs.As bad as this sounds — indeed, is — for Android users, this type of attack can only be waged when the Android device is using an unsecured network, like a Wi-Fi hotspot, to send data. The researchers say hackers could wage such an attack when a device is connected to a network that is under their control.

To collect such authTokens on a large scale an adversary could setup a wifi access point with a common SSID (evil twin) of an unencrypted wireless network, e.g., T-Mobile, attwifi, starbucks, write the researchers. With default settings, Android phones automatically connect to a previously known network and many apps will attempt syncing immediately. While syncing would fail (unless the adversary forwards the requests), the adversary would capture authTokens for each service that attempted syncing. The researchers suggest a number of ways to fix the issue, for app developers, Google and Android users alike. Developers whose apps use ClientLogin should immediately switch to https, the researchers say. And Google should limit the life of the authentication token, and restrict automatic connects to protected networks only. Android users should update their devices to 2.3.4 as soon as possible, they say, as well as turn off automatic sync when connecting with Wi-Fi, or avoid unsecured Wi-Fi networks entirely.

Is Criminal Behavior a Prerequisite to Get a Job With the TSA? Paul Joseph Watson Infowars.com May 18, 2011
http://www.infowars.com/is-criminal-behavior-a-prerequisite-to-get-a-job-with-the-tsa/

Why doesn’t Janet Napolitano’s TSA just start using prison inmates to conduct grope downs and naked porno scans of people traveling through US airports? It would save a lot of time and money, and it wouldn’t be a departure from the fact that TSA workers have worked hard to maintain their reputation as thieves, perverts and criminals.Yet another TSA agent has been caught engaging in criminal behavior. The regularity with which this occurs makes it look like committing felonies is a prerequisite to get a job in airport security.A Transportation Security Administration officer at LAX has been arrested for stealing from a traveler’s suitcase, reports KABC.Ryan Driscoll, 31, was arrested on May 10 at Terminal 6. He faces a felony theft charge. The case is the 14th in just the last three years (which the TSA admits to) of its workers stealing large amounts of cash and other valuables from airport travelers. Back in February, TSA agents Persad Coumar and Davon Webb were arrested for stealing $40,000 dollars from a check-in bag at John F. Kennedy Airport. They were later discovered to have stolen an additional $160,000 in valuables from people’s luggage, mostly laptops and jewelry.

Just days prior to this case, TSA supervisor Michael Arato pleaded guilty in a federal court to multiple counts of theft, as well as admitting to taking bribes and kickbacks from another TSA worker to look the other way, while the agent he was supervising stole more money from travelers at Newark Liberty Airport. Arato stole up to $700 a day from passengers for a staggering eight years before he was caught.
We’ve documented numerous examples where TSA agents have been caught committing crimes both on and off the job, from molesting children, to stealing, to kidnapping, to assault, to drug smuggling. The list of cases is growing to biblical proportions and gets larger with each passing day.The spoof call where a man pretended to be a sex predator while applying for a TSA job (he was treated seriously by the TSA staffer on the other end of the line), is starting to resemble less of a satire and more how the TSA does business.Instead of locking up thieves, sex perverts, rapists and pedophiles at great expense to the American taxpayer, the federal government should just put them straight into a uniform and have them fondling 6-year-old girls and searching baby’s diapers for poop bombs.Efforts by the Texas House of Representatives to make TSA grope downs a felony are not just about protecting our privacy, they’re about protecting us from a sub-human criminal underclass that has been given carte blanche by big government to unleash their predatory sexual and criminal fetishes on the traveling American public.

Settlement Leader to Netanyahu: We Need Much More than Blocs! by Hillel Fendel MAY 17,11

Yesha Council chairman Danny Dayan, responding to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's speech of Monday night, said Tuesday, His analysis of the geo-political situation was correct, but his conclusions were wrong… Settlement blocs alone do not provide even minimum security for the State of Israel.Dayan, who heads the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria, told Arutz Sheva,The Prime Minister was correct in saying that the struggle is not over borders, but over their desire to destroy us… However, when he spoke about his willingness to make painful concessions over parts of our national homeland, there is no such animal. A homeland must be settled, and not given up on.It is clear, Dayan said, that settlement blocs alone are not enough [even from a security standpoint]. For security, we require control over the mountain ridge [in the Shomron], the entire Jordan Valley, and the areas that oversee Ben Gurion International Airport.Dayan says that this coming September, when the PA is expected to make a bid for independence in the United Nations, will be an opportunity for us, and not a crisis. They have overturned the table by going to the UN and forging an alliance with Hamas; we can no longer suffice with a tied game.We have to win. How? First of all,Dayan explained,we must remove the millstone of our consent to a Palestinian state, and then we must apply our sovereignty over the Jewish communities and the unpopulated areas – as preparation for our annexation of all of Judea and Samaria.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Obama: Mideast peace more vital than ever
-MAY 17,11

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says it's more vital than ever for Israel and the Palestinians to restart peace talks. The president says the United States has an enormous stake in the outcome and will continue to try to find an equitable and just solution. The president made his comments after an Oval Office meeting on Tuesday with Jordan's King Abdullah II.They talks come as prospects look exceptionally grim for a Middle East peace that's a long-sought goal of the U.S. and Jordan. Israel is taking a tough line against an emerging Palestinian government and there's been renewed violence.Obama is plunging into an intense week of Middle East diplomacy with a speech planned Thursday on U.S. policy in the region, and a visit Friday from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

I KNOW WHY THE PALESTINIANS ARE PUTTING OFF THE ELECTIONS TILL OCTOBER BECAUSE IN SEPTEMBER THEY WANT TO HAVE THEIR STATE.THEN THER ELECTIONS.

Palestinians postpone local elections to October
By MOHAMMED DARAGHMEH, Associated Press – MAY 17,11

RAMALLAH, West Bank – The government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday postponed municipal elections by three months until October, saying it needs more time to ensure the vote can be held in both the West Bank and Gaza. The decision was part of a recent reconciliation process between Abbas' Fatah movement and the Islamic militant Hamas group. The two sides have been torn between rival governments for the past four years, with Fatah in the West Bank and Hamas in control of Gaza, and only last week they agreed to repair the rift. The municipal elections will be a key test for the Palestinians, providing the first gauge of each side's popularity and giving a strong indicator of whether they can get along. After last week's unity deal, Fatah and Hamas are working on forming a unity government — a process that is expected to take weeks or even months.Abbas' West Bank government said Tuesday it decided to put off the elections from July 9 to Oct. 22, to allow reconciliation to take hold and to provide the proper atmosphere to hold the elections in the entire Palestinian territories.Hamas, which had said it would boycott the vote when elections were first set, has reversed that stand.Hamas will participate in all elections and this is something that has been stated in the reconciliation deal, said Ismail Radwan, a Hamas leader. The Palestinians hope to hold national legislative and presidential elections next year. The municipal vote would be the first election in the Palestinian territories since January 2006. In those elections, Hamas defeated Fatah, and the two sides formed a short-lived unity government that ultimately collapsed into heavy fighting. In June 2007, Hamas overran Gaza, causing the deep split the sides are now trying to mend.

It's important for Abbas to present a united front as he prepares to ask the United Nations to recognize an independent state in the West Bank and Gaza, with east Jerusalem as its capital. Abbas is seeking a U.N. vote in September, a month before the elections would take place. In a newspaper opinion article published Tuesday, Abbas acknowledged that U.N. recognition would not change the situation on the ground, but would give him more leverage in negotiations with Israel.Palestine would be negotiating from the position of one United Nations member whose territory is militarily occupied by another ... and not as a vanquished people ready to accept whatever terms are put in front of us, Mahmoud Abbas wrote in The New York Times, presenting his most detailed explanation yet of his reasons for the U.N. bid.He said, for instance, an upgraded status could open the door for legal action against Israel, including at the International Court of Justice. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Abbas' article was full of inaccuracies, like implying that the Arabs accepted the 1947 U.N. partition plan setting up Israel and a Palestinian state, when in fact Palestinians and Arab nations rejected it and attacked Israel. It can be inferred from these comments that the Palestinian leadership sees the establishment of the Palestinian state as a means to continue its conflict with Israel instead of finishing it, he said in a statement.

Iran president takes over oil ministry temporarily
– Mon May 16, 3:25 am ET

TEHRAN (AFP) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he has temporarily assumed the duties of the oil ministry, as the oil cartel OPEC prepares for a biannual meeting in Vienna. For now, I myself am the caretaker of the oil ministry, Ahmadinejad said in a televised speech late Sunday, without elaborating. On Saturday, Ahmadinejad dismissed oil minister Masoud Mirkazemi, alongside two other ministers, whose portfolios are expected to be merged with other departments as part of a cabinet streamlining. Then on Sunday, he appointed caretakers for the industry and social affairs ministries, but did not name anyone for the oil ministry which is to be integrated with the energy portfolio. His decision to take charge of Iran's most-strategic sector came shortly before the 159th OPEC meeting scheduled for June 8 in Vienna, where the oil producers are represented by their ministers.Mohammad Ali Khatibi, Iran's representative to OPEC, told AFP on Monday that the president would be eligible to chair the meeting. As he is the caretaker of the ministry, he may attend the (ministerial) meeting, he said in a telephone interview. But it is not customary... the president usually takes part in summits, Khatibi said, adding he was expecting the president to appoint a representative for the upcoming meeting.

Iran, the second largest exporter of crude in the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, currently holds the presidency of the cartel, a position it is holding for the first time since the 1979 Islamic revolution. The oil minister's dismissal also comes amid Ahmadinejad's efforts to change the structure his government, which has become the subject of a political showdown with the parliament.
The conservative-dominated Majlis has argued it should be in charge of the streamlining operation, with some lawmakers criticising the disappearance of the oil industry.

WHO blames cuts on global finances, weak dollar
By JOHN HEILPRIN, Associated Press – MAY 17,11

GENEVA – The World Health Organization will cut $1 billion from its next budget because of financial problems among rich donor nations and the exchange rate for the weak U.S. dollar, the agency's director said Tuesday. The Geneva-based U.N. health agency supports health ministries around the world, helped eliminate smallpox in the late 1970s and has coordinated worldwide efforts to deal with the swine flu pandemic and other emergencies.Margaret Chan, WHO's director general, told reporters that a drop in voluntary contributions among its top 30 traditional donor nations is just part of the agency's problem. The other part, she said, is that the dollar has fallen to a record low against the Swiss franc, which is now worth about $1.13.

Because of their own financial difficulties, some of them have cut back, she said of the wealthiest nations, many still struggling in the wake of a global financial crisis. We are hit as well by the currency exchange rate. We get our income in U.S. dollars, and we are paying our staff in Swiss francs. The Geneva-based agency previously said it expects a $300 million (euro212 million) deficit this year.Budget documents show that WHO's $4.5 billion biennial budget in 2010 and 2011 dropped by more than $1 billion for 2012 and 2013, because of fewer voluntary contributions from nations, non-governmental organizations and other donors. As a result, WHO is expected to lay off 300 workers — about 12 percent of its local staff. WHO's emergencies unit alone will be cutting about half of its 80 staff. At a news conference alongside multibillionaire Bill Gates, a major donor to global health causes, Chan said many nations are still supportive despite the cutbacks. The pair met with reporters as the world's health ministers gathered for WHO's general assembly this week.

Alberta town burns, wildfires shut oil facilities
By Scott Haggett and Jeffrey Jones – Mon May 16, 5:46 pm ET

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) – Wildfires whipped by high winds destroyed more than a third of a sizable town in northern Alberta on Monday and forced oil companies in Canada's largest energy-producing province to shut off tens of thousands of barrels of output.Dozens of forest fires flared up across the province during a dry, gusty weekend, forcing the evacuation of several communities, including Slave Lake, a town of 10,000 in northern Alberta, known as a center for oil, gas and forestry.Numerous homes and some public buildings have been destroyed, Slave Lake Mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee said. She spoke to reporters from a command center in the town, about 200 km (125 miles) northwest of the provincial capital, Edmonton. It was deserted save for emergency personnel. You feel the intense heat, the sharp smell of smoke ... you see some areas still smoking and our fire-fighting crews are trying to contain any spot fires, Pillay-Kinnee said. Two blazes, driven by winds gusting to 100 km per hour (60 mph), converged on Slave Lake on Sunday. Complicating the situation on Monday were winds of up to 50 km per hour (30 mph) in some regions as well as dry conditions.

We're expecting another very active fire day, Alberta information officer Rob Harris said. These conditions make it incredibly difficult for firefighters to contain fires.
Wildfires forced oil companies to shut off production and, in some cases, evacuate workers.Penn West Petroleum Ltd shut 25,000-30,000 barrels a day of heavy oil production from operations in north-central Alberta, Chief Executive Bill Andrew said. All the company's employees are safe, although some have lost homes, he said.
Cenovus Energy Inc said it was ready to halt operations at its 22,000 barrel a day Pelican Lake heavy oil field, 300 km (186 miles) north of Edmonton, due to the outage of a pipeline in the region.Cenovus has enough storage capacity to keep pumping crude until Tuesday, spokeswoman Rhona DelFrari said.Fires also burned near the oil sands hub of Fort McMurray, although there were no reports of production being cut.

WORK CAMPS EVACUATED

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd evacuated 1,300 people from two work camps near its Horizon oil sands project. It is watching the fires closely as operations elsewhere in Alberta could be affected, Vice-Chairman John Langille said.Market sources said the situation had yet to move prices for heavy crude, but cautioned lengthy outages could tighten supplies. Western Canada Select heavy blend, a widely traded oil grade, was selling for about $17 a barrel under benchmark West Texas Intermediate for June delivery, similar to Friday.Fires forced the closure of the southern leg of Plains All American Pipeline LP's Rainbow Pipeline on Sunday. The northern leg, running to Nipisi from Zama in northwest Alberta, was shut due to a 28,000 bpd oil spill on April 29.Spill cleanup was suspended on the weekend as the fire threat forced workers to flee the area.Transport was also affected. Canadian National Railway Co said it halted train service in the Slave Lake region and numerous highways were blocked off.West Fraser Timber Co Ltd shut a pulp mill and a wood veneer facility near Slave Lake, but said they had not sustained damage. As of Monday, 113 wildfires were burning in Alberta, 34 of them out of control, the provincial government said. A total of 557 square km (215 square miles) had been burned. The government deployed 1,000 firefighters, 100 helicopters and 20 water bombers to battle the blaze. In addition, 200 more firefighters were expected to arrive from other provinces.(Editing by Rob Wilson and Peter Galloway)

U.S. tornadoes could cost insurers $6 billion: RMS
– Tue May 17, 5:50 am ET

LONDON (Reuters) – Tornadoes that swept through southern U.S. states last month could cost the insurance industry up to $6 billion, risk-modeling agency RMS said on Tuesday. The tornadoes, which struck Alabama and neighboring states in late April, will cause insured losses of $3.5-$6.0 billion, according to an initial estimate from RMS.RMS's estimate compared with a projected loss of $3.7-$5.5 billion calculated by rival AIR Worldwide, with Eqecat, another risk-modeling agency, penciling in a loss of $2-$5 billion.Losses from the tornadoes will add to tens of billions of dollars in insurance claims arising from a string of natural disasters over the first three months of the year, including the earthquake that devastated Japan on March 11.The Lloyd's of London insurance market said last week it would take a $3.8 billion hit from earthquakes and floods in the first quarter, outstripping the $2.6 billion in natural disaster claims it paid out in the whole of 2010.(Reporting by Myles Neligan; Editing by Dan Lalor)

Costly Miss. River closure meant to protect levees
By ALAN SAYRE and MICHAEL KUNZELMAN, Associated Press – MAY 17,11

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has interrupted shipping along the major artery for moving grain from farms in the Midwest to the Gulf of Mexico over fears that the bulging Mississippi River could strain levees that protect hundreds of thousands from flooding. Already, thousands have sought refuge from floodwaters up and down the river. The Coast Guard said it closed the Mississippi River at the port in Natchez, Miss., because barge traffic could increase pressure on the levees. Heavy flooding from Mississippi tributaries has displaced more than 4,000 in the state, about half of them upstream from Natchez in the Vicksburg area.Several barges were idled at Natchez at the time of the closure, and many more could back up along the lower Mississippi. It wasn't clear when the river would reopen, but port officials said the interruption could cost the U.S. economy hundreds of millions of dollars per day.The closure is the latest high-stakes decision made to protect homes and businesses that sit behind levees and floodwalls along the river. To take pressure off levees surrounding heavily populated New Orleans and Baton Rouge, the Army Corps of Engineers opened the key Morganza Spillway, choosing to flood more rural areas with fewer homes. Another spillway near New Orleans was opened earlier, but it doesn't threaten homes. Most residents in the path of the Morganza's floodwaters have heeded the call to leave their homes. Bernadine Turner, who lives in a mandatory evacuation zone near Krotz Springs, La., spent a third day Monday moving her things out. Water from the Morganza opening was not expected to reach the town about 40 miles west of Baton Rouge for several days, but most residents were taking no chances. There's no doubt it's going to come up. We don't have flood insurance, and most people here don't. Man, it would be hard to start all over, she said.

Economic pain from the flooding could be felt far from the South because of the river closure. During the spring, the Mississippi is a highway for towboats pushing barges laden with corn, soybeans and other crops brought down from the Ohio, Missouri and Mississippi river systems. Farm products come down the river to a port near New Orleans to be loaded onto massive grain carriers for export. The Port of South Louisiana is the largest grain port the country, handling about 54 percent of U.S. exports. The port's operations director, Mitch Smith, said the extent of the impact from the Natchez closing will depend on how long it lasts and how many barges are trapped upriver.Definitely, if it is a long closure, we will feel an economic impact, Smith said.At least 10 freight terminals along the lower Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans have suspended operations because of the high water, said Roy Gonzalez, acting president of the Gulf States Maritime Association. In many cases, their docks are already at water level or going under, he said.
Vessels scheduled to use the terminals will either have to wait out the high water or divert to other terminals or ports. Additional costs for delaying any one vessel routinely run $20,000 to $40,000 per day, port officials say. It's not clear how long it will take for normal operations to return at Natchez and other terminals. The river is expected to crest Saturday in Natchez at 63 feet, down a half-foot than earlier predictions, but almost five feet above a record set in 1937. It could take weeks for the water to recede. All along the Mississippi River, a small army of engineers, deputies and even inmates is keeping round-the-clock watch at the many floodwalls and earthen levees holding the water back. They are looking for any droplets that seep through the barriers and any cracks that threaten to turn small leaks into big problems. The work is hot and sometimes tedious, but without it, the flooding could get much worse.I volunteered for this, said jail inmate Wayne McClinton, who was helping with the sandbagging effort in northern Louisiana's Tensas Parish. It's a chance to get out in the air, to do something different. It's not boring like prison is.Although the job requires 24-hour vigilance, Reynold Minsky, president of a north Louisiana levee district, said there are some places in his mostly rural district of forest and farmland where he will not ask anyone to go after sundown.

Unless we've got a serious situation that we know we've found before dark, we don't ask these people to go into these wooded areas because of the snakes and the alligators,Minsky said while taking a break from helicopter tours of the levees. That's inhumane.Minsky's 5th Louisiana Levee District is plagued these days by sand boils," places where river water has found a way through earthen levees and bubbled up on the dry side like an artesian well. He insists they are no reason for alarm. If the water is clear, as it has been so far, that means the levee is not eroding. Stopping the boil involves ringing it with sandbags. In New Orleans, workers inspect the levees daily when the water is high to look for potential trouble spots. The levees there — which are not among those that failed along canals after Hurricane Katrina — have survived high water before and will survive this latest test, city officials said. The opening of the Morganza has stopped the river's rise at New Orleans, but the relief valve sent water gushing into the mostly rural Atchafalaya River basin. There's no question about it, New Orleans is safe, New Orleans is dry and the system's working as it was designed, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said Tuesday morning on CBS' The Early show. For those in the path of waters let loose by the Morganza, a tense waiting game has begun. On Monday, 75-year-old Leif Montin watched a truck tow away a storage pod containing most of the furniture he and his wife have in their home in Butte Larose, a community emptied by residents fleeing the rising waters.I guess you guys are ready to get out of here, the driver said to Montin.Yep. Pretty much, responded Montin.Online:

Japan sticks with timetable to resolve nuke crisis
– Tue May 17, 8:33 am ET

TOKYO – The operator of Japan's crippled nuclear plant says a revised roadmap to resolve the crisis will stick with an existing timeline but add new tasks, such as boosting tsunami preparedness and improving conditions for workers.Tokyo Electric Power Co. Vice President Sakae Muto said Tuesday the utility still aims to bring the radiation-leaking Fukushima Dai-ichi complex to a stable cold shutdown within six to nine months as announced in the original April action plan.Muto said the revised plan calls for stepping up precautionary measures for aftershocks and closer monitoring of the amount of radiation in groundwater and elsewhere in the environment.

Globalists’ Secret Weapon Exposed: Tech Kill Chips

As the world is distracted by the royal nuptials and Obama’s ever changing soap opera surrounding CIA asset Osama bin Laden’s death, the technocrats are rolling out the next phase of their global control grid. The foundations of this plan were laid out in the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and have been updated each subsequent year.
In addition to Obama’s stranglehold on the Internet, all smart devices have federally-mandated control and kill switches added. This will give the government total control over incoming information to all smart phones regardless of manufacturer. These policies dovetail with the roll out of Smart Meters and the new Google controlled smart homes which will send messages over the power-lines to your appliances to control power consumption or simply cut the power. In addition, new green lighting systems are being installed in government buildings which send and receive data through controlled pulses of light. And now the Pentagon wants the authority to run it all. Wake up and start informing your fellow man.

TSA Responds To Texas: Resistance is Futile
Steve Watson Infowars.com May 17, 2011

The TSA has issued a laughable response to the news that the state of Texas has passed a bill to officially make it a misdemeanor to pat-down breasts, buttocks, or genitals. The Agency contends, via its blog, that Texas cannot do anything to restrict TSA procedures because, as a federal agency it is protected under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.Blogger Bob, the TSA’s propaganda mouthpiece, writes:What’s our take on the Texas House of Representatives voting to ban the current TSA pat-down? Well, the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution (Article. VI. Clause 2) prevents states from regulating the federal government. How ridiculous it is for the TSA to cite the Constitution in its own defense! While citing one section, it is completely ignoring two others – namely the Fourth and Tenth Amendments. The Fourth Amendment protects The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches without probable cause. As far as we can recollect, no where in the Constitution does it say that the federal government has the right to touch Americans’ private parts in the first instance. Therefore, under the Tenth, States have the right to pass their own laws against this abuse of power, because:The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. The TSA’s contention that the Supremacy Clause bars states from regulating the federal government is a total lie. The Supremacy Clause states:This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

In other words, The constitution is the supreme law and any federal laws made in line with the constitution are supreme. No where does it say that states cannot regulate federal government. But why would we expect the TSA to understand the Constitution when it violates it every hour of every day? The Supremacy Clause, as with every other part of the Constitution, is there to protect against potential federal government abuses of power, not to effectively enable them as the TSA claims. The Constitution protects the rights of the people, not the rights of the federal government. In addition, there is no enumerated power in the Constitution that gives the federal government the authority to regulate local airports. Under the Tenth Amendment, airport operation falls under state jurisdiction. The TSA’s version of the US Constitution, like much of the federal government’s, is a complete perversion of it’s actual meaning. The TSA blog goes on to state:We wish we lived in a world where you could just walk on a plane with no security screening, but that just isn’t the case unfortunately. Aviation security agencies worldwide have been using pat-downs long before TSA was created to prevent dangerous items from getting onto airplanes. The pat-down is a highly effective tool to resolve certain alarms and keep these dangerous items off of planes that could cause catastrophic damage.

Again, this is a pathetic attempt at justification of full on government groping. To claim that Other countries did it first is just plain weak. Other countries do not have a written constitution safeguarding the privacy rights of their citizens. And besides, specifically, what other countries governments are putting their hands inside people’s pants and literally touching their genitals? The Texas House of Representatives passed the legislation on Friday to prohibit intrusive touching when people are seeking access to public buildings and forms of transportation. The bill, sponsored by Republican House member David Simpson, outlaws public servants from “intentionally, knowingly or recklessly touching anyone’s anus, sexual organ, buttocks or breasts, including touching through clothing, and any manner of touching that would be offensive to a reasonable person.Should the bill also pass the Senate and be signed into law, convicted TSA agents could face a $4,000 fine and up to one year in jail.Representative Simpson appeared on the Alex Jones Show Friday to discuss the bill:Texas, and in particular Austin, has been at the forefront of the revolt against the TSA since it began increasing its presence in airports some eighteen months ago. In December, Austin’s Airport Advisory Commission approved a resolution advising the city council to oppose airport body scanners and invasive body searches. The TSA has signaled its intention to install the scanners at Austin, but the date has continually been put back, with the agency saying it could now be as late as 2012 before the devices are activated.Meanwhile, in related news, the revolt against the TSA continues as a House Appropriations Subcommittee last week stripped $76 million out of the TSA budget for 2012. The funds had been designated for the purchase of 275 more naked body scanners. Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said that the body scanners are a nuisance. They’re slow. And they’re ineffective.

MUSLIM NATIONS

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:

Officials: terror groups are joining crime rings
By BARRY HATTON, Associated Press – MAY 17,11

LISBON, Portugal – Terror groups are becoming more deeply involved in international criminal networks to obtain financing for their operations, U.S. and European officials said Tuesday.Officials from the United States and Europe are co-hosting a three-day conference in Lisbon with African and Latin American countries to improve cooperation on cross-border crime, especially trans-Atlantic drug smuggling. Delegates from more than 60 nations attended the meeting which ends Thursday.
President Barack Obama said in a written message to the conference that terrorists increasingly turn to crime and criminal networks for funding.Troels Oerting, assistant director of European law enforcement agency Europol, told The Associated Press authorities are relatively sure that an al-Qaida offshoot in North Africa is involved in smuggling South American cocaine into Europe.Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, known as AQIM, is believed to be active in an area spanning 1,800 miles (3,000 kilometers), from Niger to Mauritania. Experts estimate it has several hundred members.Law enforcement agencies have identified West Africa as a key transit region for cocaine shipments from Latin America to Europe.Oerting said authorities do not know fully about the connection between African terror groups and criminal activities because reliable information is hard to find in the region.

North Africa and West Africa is a huge problem area for us because it's weak states ... failed states or states that aren't easy to work with, he told the AP.Europol is making renewed efforts to locate the proceeds of crimes when suspects are captured, Oerting said. He said the Lisbon conference aims to improve collaboration with the West African countries, some of which sent delegates to Portugal.U.S. Assistant Secretary of State William Brownfield said terror groups' involvement in the drug trade is a troubling combination.Brownfield, a senior anti-narcotics official, told reporters that drug trafficking is becoming intermingled with organizations that are dedicated either to terrorism or more political, ideological or religious agendas. He wouldn't be drawn on details about suspected links between AQIM and drug smuggling routes to Europe. Asked whether there was evidence of that, he said,I have not made that assertion. I would not question anyone else who does.Brownfield, accompanied by Assistant U.S. Attorney General Lanny Breuer and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administrator Michele Leonhart, was due to travel later Tuesday to Ghana and Liberia to discuss law enforcement.Portuguese Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Joao Cravinho said in his opening speech that al-Qaida's presence in northern Africa is burgeoning. He did not elaborate.Apart from the opening session, the conference took place behind closed doors.

Tanks storm southern city as Syria denies mass grave
By Suleiman al-Khalidi – MAY 17,11

AMMAN (Reuters) – Villagers near Syria's southern city of Deraa have found two separate graves containing up to 26 bodies, residents said on Tuesday, and tanks stormed a city in the region, cradle of the uprising against Baathist rule.Syria denied the existence of any mass grave near Deraa, saying such reports were part of campaign of incitement against authorities tackling a two-month wave of protests against President Bashar al-Assad.But state television quoted an Interior Ministry source as saying five bodies had been found near Deraa, the city where unrest first erupted in March and which troops and tanks stormed last month. It said officials were investigating.Four residents told Reuters that villagers had contacted the local civil defense after noticing two mounds of earth in wheatfields just outside Deraa's old city district. Under the mounds were 22 to 26 decomposed corpses, they said.Their reports could not be verified because authorities have barred most international media from operating in Syria.Since Assad sent tanks into Deraa three weeks ago to crush dissent, the army has moved into several other protest centers in the south of the country, around the capital Damascus and on the Mediterranean coast.

U.N. RESOLUTION

Syrian tanks moved overnight into a southern city in the Hauran Plain on Tuesday after encircling it for three weeks, activists said.Soldiers fired machineguns in the air as tanks and armored personnel carriers entered Nawa, a city of 80,000 people 60 km (40 miles) to the north of Deraa, said activists from the region. The troops are now combing neighborhoods in Nawa and arresting scores of men, one activist said.Syrian rights groups say at least 700 civilians have been killed by security forces. The government blames most of the violence on armed groups backed by Islamists and outside powers, saying they have killed more than 120 soldiers and police. The United States has condemned the crackdown as barbaric. Both Washington and the European Union have imposed sanctions on senior Syrian officials, though they have yet to target Assad. The 45-year old president had been partly rehabilitated in the West in the last three years, but the use of force to quell dissent in the last two months has reversed that trend.French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said on Tuesday France and Britain were close to getting nine votes for a resolution on Syria at the U.N. Security Council, but Russia and China were threatening to use their veto.We are still threatened by a Chinese and Russian veto, but it seems that a majority of nine votes is being decided as we speak, he said, without specifying what the resolution would entail.

DEAD STREWN IN STREET

Soldiers moved on Saturday into the town of Tel Kelakh, close to Lebanon's northern border.Human rights campaigners said scores of people had been arrested since Monday and that Assad's forces were firing at several neighborhoods in the city of 30,000 people.Citing witnesses, the Local Coordination Committees, an activists' group, said several people were killed in Tuesday's offensive, adding to 12 civilians already killed by army shelling, shooting and sniper fire in the last three days.A Reuters correspondent on the Lebanese side of the border heard shooting and could see smoke rising from the village of Arida, which lies between Tel Kelakh and the border. They destroyed the houses, they cut electricity and water. The wounded are dying in our hands and the dead are strewn on the streets, a Tel Kelakh resident told Reuters by telephone. She said she was hiding in a basement with seven families.
State news agency SANA said security forces clashed with wanted armed terrorist members in Tel Kelakh on Monday, killing several and capturing others, and seizing weapons, ammunition and military uniform. Fifteen members of the security forces were wounded, it quoted a military source as saying. In her stone house just a few meters inside Lebanese land, Umm Fatima said she had sent her nine children to the nearby village of Wadi Khaled for safety. All night and day, there's gunfire. I'm so scared it will reach our homes -- I don't dare leave my home, she said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said there were also mass arrests in the cities of Homs, Deir al-Zor and Latakia, which security forces had robbed of normality.Assad, who trained as an ophthalmologist, has tried a mixture of reform and repression to stem the protests, inspired by uprisings across the Arab world.Authorities say he intends to launch national dialogue talks, a gesture rejected by opposition leaders and the main activists' protest group who say security forces must first stop shooting protesters and political prisoners must be freed.SANA news agency said Assad met a delegation from Deraa on Monday and discussed implementing reforms. The Facebook page Syria Revolution 2011 called for a general strike across Syria on Wednesday.Let us turn this Wednesday into a Friday,it said, referring to the day when most demonstrations take place after weekly Muslim prayers. It called for mass protests ... no schools (open), no universities, no shops or restaurants, not even taxis.(Additional reporting by Yara Bayoumy in Wadi Khaled, Lebanon, and Khaled Yacoub Oweis in Amman; Writing by Dominic Evans; Editing by Andrew Roche)

NATO helicopter attacks Pakistani army post
By ISHTIAQ MAHSUD and HEIDI VOGT, Associated Press – MAY 17,11

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan – Pakistani troops and a NATO helicopter that crossed into Pakistani territory exchanged fire on Tuesday, wounding two soldiers, local officials said, and Pakistan protested, further straining relations with the West following the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Also Tuesday, the army said a senior al-Qaida operative had been arrested in the port city of Karachi. In a brief statement, it said Yemeni national Muhammad Ali Qasim Yaqub, alias Abu Sohaib Al Makki, had been working directly under al Qaida leaders along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It did not say when he was arrested. An American official said the suspect was a mid-level al-Qaida operative and praised the Pakistani military. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss matters of intelligence.Pakistan's army and intelligence agencies have faced intense international suspicions since bin Laden was killed on May 2 in an American raid on a large house in the army town of Abbottabad not far from the capital. Many American lawmakers have said bin Laden's location was a strong sign that Pakistan was playing a double game — that is accepting U.S. aid but also protecting terrorists. Pakistan denies that. The army said the arrest was a major development in unraveling the al-Qaida network operating in the region. The NATO firing incident took place in the Datta Khel area of the North Waziristan tribal region, a known sanctuary for Taliban and al-Qaida militants that launch attacks inside Afghanistan as well as Pakistan. It has been targeted repeatedly by covert U.S. drone strikes.

A Western military official in Afghanistan and a NATO spokesman said there was firing at the border, but they did not confirm that Pakistani border troops were the target or had been hit.The Pakistani army, facing internal criticism for failing to detect or stop the unilateral American raid that killed bin Laden, said it lodged a strong protest and demanded a meeting with NATO officials to discuss the incident. NATO said it would investigate.A similar event last year in which two Pakistani soldiers were killed prompted the army to immediately close a key border crossing to NATO supplies heading from Pakistan into landlocked Afghanistan, dramatically exposing the vulnerability of the war effort. The Western military official said a NATO base in Afghanistan took intermittent direct and indirect fire from the Pakistani side of the border. Two helicopters flew into the area, and one fired across the border after twice taking fire from the Pakistani side, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.
NATO declined to say which coalition country was involved, but most of the helicopters that fly in that part of Afghanistan are American.Relations between the United States and Pakistan have been tense since the Navy SEALs raid on May 2.The Pakistani government is outraged that the U.S. carried out the operation without telling Pakistan first, and many U.S. officials have expressed disbelief that bin Laden could have lived in Abbottabad for at least five years without the authorities' knowledge.

NATO said it was still trying to determine whether the helicopter crossed in to Pakistani airspace. We're investigating the incident to determine a flight path by examining GPS waypoints in the helicopter computer, to construct a sequence of events and ultimately determine what led to the exchange of fire, said Dorrian, the NATO spokesman.Dorrian said NATO will work with the Pakistani government to determine what happened, saying they expect it will reflect the same good cooperation seen in recent military operations along the border. In recent weeks, NATO and Pakistan have launched coordinated offensives against militants on their respective sides of the border. This is going to be transparently looked into, Dorrian said. The Pakistani army said in a statement that its troops fired on the helicopter after it entered Pakistani airspace in the early hours of the morning. Two of its troops were injured when the helicopter returned fire, it said. The helicopter attack came a day after U.S. Sen. John Kerry wrapped up a 24-hour visit to Islamabad in which he worked to salvage the relationship with Pakistan, but also warned the government that actions, not words were needed to get ties back on track. Kerry was the most high-profile American to visit Pakistan since the raid on bin Laden. Also Tuesday, Pakistani security forces shot and killed four would-be suicide bombers, including three women, when they tried to attack an army checkpoint in the southwestern city of Quetta, said Daood Junejo, the city police chief. A fifth suicide bomber detonated his explosives but did not injure anyone, the police chief said.Security forces stopped the five as they approached the checkpoint in a car, said Junejo. One of the men got out of the car and blew himself up. The other four, who were also wearing suicide vests, were shot when they tried to lob grenades, he said. However, local TV footage showed what appeared to be security forces shooting at two of the women as they were laying on the ground, one of them with her hand raised over her head.Vogt reported from Kabul, Afghanistan. Associated Press writers Sebastian Abbot in Islamabad and Abdul Sattar in Quetta, Pakistan, contributed to this report.
