According to SIPRI, Libya provides an excellent illustration of the competition between major arms suppliers for orders.Sales and transfers of major conventional arms to Libya were very low in the period between the lifting of the United Nations arms embargo on the country in September 2003 and the imposition of a new UN arms embargo in February 2011.Nevertheless, according to Pieter Wezeman of the SIPRI Arms Transfers Programme, in recent years France, Italy, Russia and the UK have been competing for expected Libyan orders for combat aircraft, tanks, air defence systems and other weapons.

Russia has orders for six Yak-130 trainer/combat aircraft and two Tarantul Fast Attack Craft, but did not secure an anticipated contract for export of its new Su-35 combat aircraft by the end of 2010, SIPRI recalled.However, the imposition of United Nations Security Council arms embargoes on the supply of a broad range of military and paramilitary equipment to Libya in February 2011 showed that there were limits to what supplier states were willing to provide, SIPRI concluded.The increasing intensity of firepower being deployed by Colonel Gaddafi's forces in their counter-attacks against rebels has fueled concerns that European weapons are being used in Libya to crush protests against the regime.The embargo on sales to Libya could cost Russia almost 4 billion dollars in arms export contracts, French news agency AFP reported on 27 February 2011.

Libyan President Moamar Gadhafi defied a UN resolution and continued to drive his forces in the city of Benghazi prompting the United States, the United Kingdom, and France to launch airstrikes on Libya.Backed by the Arab League and a United Nations mandate, the Allied Forces swiftly launched Odyssey Dawn Saturday. Ironically, it was initiated by France, who was one of those who opposed the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. The decision to launch airstrikes was made in an emergency summit held in Paris involving 22 nations.A French fighter plane kicked off the operation when it conducted an airstrike against a Libyan military vehicle near Benghazi, the center of the uprising against Moamar Gadhafi. This was followed by the dispatching of more than a hundred cruise missiles from US and British ships.With a resurgent Gadhafi, the 22-nation Arab League called for the UN Security Council to enforce a no-fly zone on Libya. Arab support was crucial to Odyssey Dawn since any intervention would have been seen as a Western invasion. The British and French government called for a stronger resolution. The US, initially reluctant, said that enforcing a no-fly zone is insufficient and created a draft calling for all necessary measures to protect civilians.

French President Sarkozy hastily called for a summit of 22 countries Saturday. The meeting was attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, British Prime Minister David Cameron, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, and top leaders from EU and Arab countries. After ninety minutes, the French military launched the first strike.The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an umbrella organization made up of 57 countries, called on other member countries to help enforce the UN resolution. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper also supported the resolution and called Gadafhi’s declaration of ceasefire as a lie from the onset. German Chancellor Angela Merkel supported the resolution but did not pledge its troops.On the other hand, Gadhafi’s ally Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that the US and its allies are only after Libya’s oil and that the UN has infringed on its fundamental principles. Cyprus did not want any involvement. While Qatar and UAE are taking part in the operation, it is not clear whether bigger Arab countries Saudi Arabia will join.NATO is undecided whether to play an active role or contribute to troops already taking part in the operation. A decision is expected to be made on Sunday as to the extent of NATO’s participation in Odyssey Dawn.

Anwar Al-Awlaki may be the first American on the CIA's kill or capture list, but he was also a lunch guest of military brass at the Pentagon within months of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, Fox News has learned. Documents exclusively obtained by Fox News, including an FBI interview conducted after the Fort Hood shooting in November 2009, state that Awlaki was taken to the Pentagon as part of the military’s outreach to the Muslim community in the immediate aftermath of the attacks. The incident was flagged by a current Defense Department employee who came forward and told investigators she helped arrange the meeting after she saw Awlaki speak in Alexandria, Va. The employee attended this talk and while she arrived late she recalls being impressed by this imam. He condemned Al Qaeda and the terrorist attacks. During his talk he was harassed by members of the audience and suffered it well, reads one document.According to the documents, obtained as part of an ongoing investigation by the specials unit Fox News Reporting, there was a push within the Defense Department to reach out to the Muslim community.Oct. 2008: American-born Al Qaeda-linked cleric Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen.At that period in time, the secretary of the Army (redacted) was eager to have a presentation from a moderate Muslim.

In addition, Awlaki was considered to be an up and coming member of the Islamic community. After her vetting, Aulaqi (Awlaki) was invited to and attended a luncheon at the Pentagon in the secretary of the Army's Office of Government Counsel.Awlaki, a Yemeni-American who was born in Las Cruces, N.M., was interviewed at least four times by the FBI in the first week after the attacks because of his ties to the three hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Hani Hanjour. The three hijackers were all onboard Flight 77 that slammed into the Pentagon.Awlaki is now believed to be hiding in Yemen after he was linked to the alleged Ft. Hood shooter Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who e-mailed Awlaki prior to the attack. Sources told Fox News that Awlaki, who is a former Muslim chaplain at George Washington University, met with the Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in Yemen and was the middle-man between the young Nigerian and the bombmaker. Awlaki was also said to inspire would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad.Apparently, none of the FBI's information about Awlaki was shared with the Pentagon. Former Army Secretary Tommy White, who led the Army in 2001, said he doesn't have any recollection of the luncheon or any contact with Awlaki. If this was a luncheon at the Office of Government Counsel, I would not necessarily be there, he said.The Pentagon has offered no explanation of how a man, now on the CIA kills or capture list, ended up at a special lunch for Muslim outreach.

After repeated requests for comment on the vetting process beginning on October 13th, an Army spokesman insisted Wednesday that the lunch was not an Army event. The Army has found no evidence that the Army either sponsored or participated in the event described in this report, spokesman Thomas Collins said.Collins also noted that the FBI document referred to the Office of Government Counsel but should read Office of General Counsel.Collins said he believed the event was sponsored by the office of the Secretary of Defense. A spokeswoman there said she would look into it and get back to Fox News.A former high-ranking FBI agent told Fox News that at the time Awlaki went to lunch at the Pentagon, there was tremendous arrogance about the vetting process at the Pentagon.They vetted people politically and showed indifference toward security and intelligence advice of others,the former agent said.

The man running Dernah's defences, Abdelkarim al-Hasadi, was arrested by US forces in Afghanistan in 2002, but says he does not support a Taliban-like state.The rebels' political leadership there says it is secular.The same goes for the wider leadership, whose membership claims to espouse largely liberal ideals.In any future negotiations – should it come to dialogue or even victory – rebel spokesmen are likely to be politicians who were until recently senior figures in the regime itself.
The head of the opposition National Council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil was Col Gaddafi's justice minister until he defected at the start of the uprising.That may not be as bad as it sounds – he was a law professor appointed to improve Libya's human rights record by Saif al-Islam Gaddafi when the colonel's son was leading Libya's westernisation drive, and had already clashed with longer-standing regime insiders.
The military chief, though, is Abdul Fattah Younis al-Obeidi, a former leader of Col Gaddafi's special forces who was his public security, or interior, minister until he went over to the rebels.He has described Col Gaddafi as not completely sane, and worked with the SAS during the now curtailed thaw in British-Libyan relations. 3. Western powers seem to be eager to divide Libya if Qaddafi does not quit. West wants Libyan resources at nay cost. Once ill-focused on resources, the Western terrocracies don't want to forget about it.

4. Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have been collaborating with anti-Islamic imperialist powers to defame, insult and defeat Islam- to reduce Islamic faith population. The UNSC has backed a no-fly zone over Libya and all necessary measures short of a terror attack or invasion to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas. They seek immediate ceasefire in Libya but have not yet decided to withdraw their rebel forces from Libya.The informal decision of the notorious UNSC, the strongest composite terrorist organization (CTO) illegally imposing no-fly -zone over sovereign Libya is a latest western shame and the expose of Western beggar states getting bribes from abroad to make their own regimes is also shamefully illegal. It is the overt expression of a panicky stricken western world that has been fooling the world by creating illusions about democracy and regime change meant actually to control the energy and other resources through military terror attacks directly and through terror bases already established by the CIA-Pentagon duo across the globe.

West wants Libya not to attack the pro-west rebels who re destabilizing Libya. With a view to quelling the CIA engineered rebellion, the Libyan forces loyal to Col Qaddafi reportedly launched their first air attacks on Benghazi, targeting the airport at Benina. The Libyan military earlier warned that any foreign operations against Libya would expose all maritime and air navigation in the Mediterranean Sea to danger. Before the resolution was put to vote, the USA-UK-France trio has taken all precautionary measure to see none opposes it.CIA-USA knows how to proceed to implement its conspiracies and where to put pressure for getting the resolution passé and got what it wanted. These three rouges states should have voted against the resolution but have been bribed by the other western rouge states.CIA had devised a multi-pronged strategy to target Libya. Using global terrorist media (GTM) to write filth about Libyan leader Col. Qaddafi, calling him tyrant and dictator, etc; corner the Arab state that supported on its Sept-1 hidden agenda to continue support against Libya too; employ the opposition o occupy oil fields and attack the state employees and establishment. Then, before going for UNS resolution for noflyzone gimmicks, USA tried to coerce both Russia and China to play second fiddle to western anti-Islamic agenda which is common agenda fall these terrocracies. They achieved most of it obviously at a price.There is no difficulty for CIA in fooling the Libyan opposition and other anti-social elements. Obviously, the fascist organization called CIA has well in advance created a wide network of anti-Libya insurgents to help the western rouges to somehow enter Libya and do whatever they want threat will, including slaughtering of Muslims. With the object in mind the West has created a so-called National Transitional Council (NTC) ostensibly to take over from Col Qaddafi if at all… The Libyan opposition also has been misled by the promises made by the western democrats.

The Transitional Council is composed of senior officials of the old regime who turned their backs on Qaddafi in response to the shift by the imperialist powers. Military intervention in Libya, whose energy resources have been made the object of imperialist intrigues for decades, is being used both to secure access to oil and to contain the revolutionary movements in the region.There is no difficulty in bring the Arab nations into US schema of things. The Arab League more often than not promotes western culture and religions, is itself composed of a collection of self-centered dictatorships, monarchies and emirates that in no way represent the desires or interests of the Arab people. Arab rogues are offering some scope for western occupation of Mideast as well.USA is pushing the Arab customers of arms and other terror equipment to spare the jet warplanes they have now for a war over Libya. There has been surge in arms stockpiling in Mideast. According to a report Saudi Arabia recorded $1.5 billion in arms imports in the past two years, Algeria had $1.9 billion, Turkey $1.1 billion, UAE $1 billion, Egypt $855 million and Iraq $851 million. Israel recorded $191 million in arms imports. USA has brought several Arab nations closer to NATO and terror operations. In 2004 as per Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI) in Turkey, the NATO established new bilateral partnerships with 6 Gulf Cooperation Council members Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, now the pro-Western regimes. The governments of the Middle East and North Africa dug deep into their pockets last year to stock up on weapons.

In September the all powerful USA had struck deals to provide four members of the Gulf Cooperation Council - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Oman - with $123 billion worth of arms in a dramatic move to confront Iran in the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia accounts for over half the total, $67 billion for 84 F-15 jets, 70 Apache gunships, 72 Black Hawk helicopters, 36 light helicopters and thousands of laser-guided smart bombs, the largest weapons deal in U.S. history. Even before those transactions are finalized, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute documented last December that Washington accounted for 54 percent of arms sales to Persian Gulf states between 2005 and 2009 and France 21 percent.As a tactful western operation, the UK, France and Lebanon proposed the nonsensical UNSC Resolution No. 1973, with US support. Generally, both USA-UK terror twins join in floating any anti-humanity UN resolution, but now an innocent looking B. Obama wants to show he is not entirely with Cameron, but he spoke to all western terror leaders on the future operations. In New York, the UNSC voted 15-10, with five abstentions for mischievous reasons, including Brazil and India- both making strenuous terror efforts to obtain a veto from the USA-UK terror twins. Russia and China - which often oppose the use of force against a sovereign country as it sets a dangerous precedent and repulsive and backfiring - abstained rather than using their power of veto as permanent members. After all, the USA-UK-France and other warmongers and beggar terrocracies would terror attack even these two nations in due course. Germany, which abstained, will not be contributing to the military effort. While, as permanent members of the council, both Russia and China had the power to defeat the resolution by casting “no” votes, they chose not to do so, ensuring that the UN continued to fulfill its function as a rubber stamp for the demands of the major imperialist powers.China’s ambassador Li Baodong, the acting president of the UNSC voiced reservations about sanctions and noflyzone, but then justified Beijing’s failure to veto the measure by invoking the vote last weekend of the Arab League calling on the UN to implement a no-fly zone. In their statements explaining their abstentions, however, the ambassadors of the five countries made clear that the impending attack on Libya has nothing to do with any consensus by the world community to protect the Libyan people, but rather is the outcome of a conspiracy worked out in secret between Washington, London and Paris.

Thus, the rebellion or uprising, or whatever you name it, has a thoroughness about its organization- after all the CIA does not play cricket but hardcore terror politics to swindle energy and other resources. America has gone about it thoroughly from all sides, employ disgruntled opposition and other anti-social elements and also enveloping even other Arab nations to destabilize Libya. On top it, CIA takes care the rebellion is seen only as local struggle for freedom and not to be seen as if some foreign intelligence outfits are behind the uprisings.The so-called National Transitional Council, promoted jointly by US-UK-France terror trio aiming at oil resources have shamelessly not only guaranteed international oil companies unhindered exploitation of the country’s mineral wealth, but also called for the bombing of their own country. If some Americans, Englishmen or Frechese do the same, will these terrocracies keep silent? Now the self-centered Kremlin, which indirectly supported the resolution by keeping its self away from voting, regrets its hypocrisy and the NATO military operations over sovereign Libya. If Russia is sincere in what it says, then, it must stop western crimes in Libya and Mideast, before it is late.
