Opponents plan next step to stop Bruce Power shipments

Opponents on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border are continuing efforts to stop the shipment by Bruce Power of 16 decommissioned radioactive steam generators through the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway.Sierra Club Canada was to hold a conference call today to discuss a possible court appeal of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's Feb. 4 decision to grant Bruce Power a licence to transport the generators, which the company and CNSC consider low-level nuclear waste, to Sweden, John Bennett, the club's executive director, said Thursday.The CNSC decision can be appealed to the Federal Court of Canada within 30 days of being handed down, according to Aurele Gervais, the spokesman for the commission.We don't know exactly what the legal challenge will be, but lawyers I've talked to sort of preliminary all think there might be some grounds. The point of our conference (call) this week will be to discuss what the grounds might be and then who will actually join the action, Bennett said. If Sierra Club is reasonably convinced we have a reasonable chance we will undoubtedly be part of that. This fight's not over by any means.Bennett said while the only avenue left to contest the plan in Canada is a court challenge, Sierra Club was working with partners in the United States who are focusing on the process there.

Bruce Power needs permission from regulators in the United States and Sweden before proceeding with its plans to send the huge generators, which weigh 100 tonnes each, to Studsvik Nuclear AB, in Nyköping, Sweden. Studsvik would separate and recycle the uncontaminated steel in the generators and return the rest, an estimated 10%, to Bruce Power for storage at the western waste management facility. Both Bennett and the Canadian Environmental Law Association referred questions about the American approval process to Kevin Kamps, the radioactive waste watchdog of Beyond Nuclear, a non-profit organization based in Takoma Park, Maryland, a suburb of Washington DC.Kamps said any approval would come from the Pipelines and Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA), which he called an obscure agency of the Department of Transportation.It's little known actually. I'd never heard of it before this steam generator issue came up, he said.Kamps said opponents of Bruce Power's plans in the U.S. would push for full environmental impact statement hearing, which would include public meetings and public comment process.Whether one would be held, he couldn't really say.PHMSA has in the past decade or more approved 17 waterborne shipments of large radioactive nuclear components, Kamps said. Only one of them was on the Great Lakes. It was two steam generators . . . from northern Wisconsin down to Memphis, Tennessee. So we assume it went through the waterways of Chicago, but definitely on Lake Michigan.Kamps said it was our assumption, not having done the research yet . . . that PHMSA did a rudimentary environmental assessment and a quick finding of no significant impact, which is in our opinion very much a rubber stamp process in its earlier approvals.

Now they've got a large amount of attention on both sides of the border and to the best of our ability we're not going to let them get away with a rubber stamp like that this time.Part of the merit to our argument is they have issued these quick approvals of these past shipments without looking at the inherent risks of waterborne radioactive waste shipments, especially on the Great Lakes, he said.One of the concerns Beyond Nuclear has is the precedent the Bruce Power shipment would set, Kamps added. It's so large, 16 steam generators. It's getting exemptions galore from ordinary standards. But it also is a precedent for much worse to follow, which would be high-level radioactive waste shipments.The Lake Michigan steam generator shipment is a good cautionary tale he said. It took place in late 2001, it happened very, very quietly. I would even say secretly. Environmental watchdogs were in the midst of fighting a proposal to set up a high-level radioactive repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada and on high alert for any nuclear shipments and it went by us without anybody knowing about it. We didn't find out about it until Bruce Power bragged about it. They said this is not unprecedented, what we're about to do.David Ullrich, the Chicago-based director of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, said that group remains opposed to Bruce Power's plans. He said he has so far been unable to obtain information from the U.S. Department of Transportation about its approval process because they tell us they haven't received an application yet.Bruce Power spokesman John Peevers said earlier this week that the company has yet to make its applications to American and Swedish regulators.We have been asked to appear before a parliamentary committee . . . to talk about the project, which we welcome. So right now we're kind of focused on that. We see it as a good opportunity to tell the story and present scientific-based factual information.

The House of Common's standing committee on natural resources has set aside two days — March 8 and 10 — to examine the decision of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) concerning the proposed shipment of 1,600 tonnes of radioactive steam generators by Bruce Power, the broader policy framework governing import and export of radioactive waste from Canadian territory, transport of radioactive waste through the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River, and recycling of radioactive metal for free release into the marketplace, according to the minutes of a committee meeting in Nov. 10.The committee has invited CNSC president Michael Binder, representatives of Bruce Power, Mayor Gaëtan Ruest of Amqui, Que. Ullrich, Patrick Madahbe, the Grand Council chief of the Union of Ontario Indians, and Gordon Edwards of the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility to testify and others may yet be asked to attend, Andrew Lauzon, the clerk of the committee, said.There has also been opposition in the UK to the shipment.The Nuclear Free Local Authorities, an umbrella group that has received policy support from 75 local governments there, has expressed its deep alarm about the plan. We don't want them passing by our waters and putting our communities at risk. War mounts over wind projects

Thunderous applause and a standing ovation followed Ashley Duncan's speech in opposition of the 80-megawatt Acciona Armow Wind Project, which spans from the former Kincardine Twp. to Bruce Twp.Representing about 70 non-option landowners and members of the Old Order Amish community living within the proposed project, Duncan said council must act to protect the quality of life, health and property rights of its citizens within wind project areas.The province and wind developers have failed to address our issues. The only way to inspire provincial change and reclaim municipal control is to stand in opposition to the Green Energy Act (GEA), said Duncan, adding it should be "designed to protect people instead of corporations.

Duncan said the local landscape is becoming industrialized and the failure to protect residents falls on both the province and wind proponents. The GEA is intended as a document to guide consultation and protect the public, but many residents don't see it that way, she said.Instead of building strong communities they've divided our community, said Duncan.Opposition against the GEA is building province-wide, with more evidence of health issues, electrical pollution and civil opposition surfacing against wind projects, Duncan said, adding their families should be able to educate, worship, work and live in an area where they're equally deserving of protection as residents who live in town.Duncan praised the provincial moratorium on Offshore Wind Power development that was announced Feb. 11, but said it could come back to the table in as few as two years.She also addressed the municipality's support for an increased 700-metre setback from the GEA's 550, adding that less than 1,000m is inadequate. Shadow flicker and proximity of turbines to property lines both impact the enjoyment of their properties, she said.The Ministry of Environment noise guidelines were also targeted at the meeting, as Duncan said the 40-decibel standard for noise limits from turbines more than doubles the 20db outdoors ambient noise they currently enjoy.Although 40db is said to be the sound of a quiet library, this is true but it's irrelevant, she said, adding they aren't willing to accept an increase two times as loud as the natural environment.With a dozen residents in the area reporting health effects from wind turbines, Duncan called on council to put a plan in place to support people and mitigate the effects of turbines.A request was made to council to freeze wind power building permits, and join with the neigh-b ouring municipalities of Saugeen Shores, Arran-Elderslie and Huron-Kinloss to get involved with investigating legal defence and get involved with organizations fighting against unwanted wind power projects, she said.Councillors praised Duncan for her informative,thorough and well thought out presentation.

Deputy-mayor Anne Eadie said council will be taking wind power issues to the Minister of Energy at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) in the coming weeks, on the premise that the municipality is concerned about curbing of future municipal growth from wind power.We want to protect for future growth over the next 40 years, said Eadie, adding earlier meaningful consultation and setbacks will also be addressed.Coun. Ron Coristine said the province made the mistake of mixing residential and industrial zoning in the 1950's and 1960's, so wind power should be considering best practices. He said if setbacks were 2 km from receptors, there would be no issues.There are good wind practices, they're just not happening here, said Coristine.Coun. Maureen Couture said council should commit to finding answers and convince the province the issues of local residents are real.They have to listen to us, we vote for them too, Couture said, adding the 90% in favour of wind aren't representative of the local population. Municipal councils are obligated to look after the health, welfare and safety of their residents . . . we should do more research into the legal aspects of all of this.Coun. Randy Roppel said carbon credits and future decommissioning are issues of concern alongside health concerns, which the province can hide behind anymore.Mayor Larry Kraemer was supportive of the move to join neighbouring municipalities in an effort to investigate the legal routes to fight wind power.Kraemer took exception to the call to freeze building permits, as he said there's no legal defence if it were to be challenged by wind developers or the province. He said it also puts municipal staff in a position where they have to choose to break council's ruling or provincial law.

It's a legal liability and virtually undefendable, that's why blocking building permits is not done widely because it does not work, said Kraemer.Councillors requested staff investigate the legal ramifications of such a move, so it can be discussed further by council.Council made a motion to work on updating guidelines based on input it receives from ROMA. Staff will also seek legal advice from lawyers and determine when councillors can attend future wind power-focused meetings with neighbouring municipalities.Article ID# 2984798

World Bank chief calls for modernised monetary system

(Reuters) - World Bank chief Robert Zoellick urged big economies on Friday to modernise the global monetary system to be able to handle multiple major currencies.

In a guest column for the Financial Times, Zoellick said China's yuan should be given a bigger role within a restructured system, echoing remarks made last week by the head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn.Many officials support the idea in principle of the yuan becoming part of the Special Drawing Rights (SDR), a basket of currencies administered by the IMF, but say that is unlikely to happen unless it becomes fully convertible.The U.S. dollar will remain the predominant reserve currency, but over time the world economy will need to manage a system of multiple major currencies, Zoellick wrote ahead of Friday's meeting in Paris of finance chiefs from the Group of 20 rich and developing nations.

We need to modernise multilateralism to steer towards a new monetary system.Zoellick said countries participating in the SDR should review monetary and currency issues in an SDR forum.This group should offer China the incentive to join the forum and eventually the SDR after it takes steps to internationalise the renminbi and moves towards an open capital account.Zoellick said over time other major internationalised currencies could be added to the SDR basket.Leading powers are not going to accept the SDR as a new global reserve currency, nor the IMF as a global central bank, Zoellick said.He added, however, that the IMF would act as a referee, able to blow the whistle on the appropriateness of external policies but not to impose penalties in order to support a healthy global economy.(Reporting by Karolina Tagaris; Editing by Andrew Hay)

However, those aware of the West's decades old network of NGOs and how their sole purpose is reordering the world to align to Western imperial interests can clearly seetheir meddling hands involved in the current uprisings sweeping North Africa, Arabia, and now Iran.While Movements.org coordinates their army of youthful cannon fodder in the streets of foreign nations from Bahrain to Libya, their corporate sponsors and their partners in the US State Department put on a convincing act of carefully portrayed confusion in the mainstream media.MSNBC recently republished a New York Times piece titled U.S. scrambles to size up ElBaradei, suggesting somehow Egypt's Mohamed ElBaradei may pose an obstacle to American and Israeli interests in the region. The utter contempt for their readers' intelligence is revealed when considering ElBaradei is a trustee of a prominent US think-tank, the International Crisis Group (ICG) along side George Soros, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Richard Armitage, and Kenneth Aldelman.

Zbigniew Brzezinski of course is the father of MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, who daily feigns ignorance over the true nature of the protests and that her father is openly involved in orchestrating them. MSNBC itself is a corporate sponsor of Movements.org.
Furthermore, it should be noted that ICG members such as Richard Armitage and Kenneth Adelman are also signatories of the extreme right-winged Project for a New American Century, the literal architects of the extremely fake War on Terror, and now some of the most vocal fear mongers regarding the unrest they themselves have not only planned by have funded and organized as well via the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Freedom House.Though many pundits see the Egyptian military's dissolving of parliament and the suspension of the nation's constitution as a step backwards for the protesters, it was exactly these steps that were demanded by ElBaradei's mobs according to the Nation Endowment for Democracy (NED) fundedProject on Middle East Democracy. The fact that George Soros, a fellow ICG trustee along side protest leader Mohamed ElBaradei, is funding organizations that have submitted drafts for Egypt's new constitution adds insult to injury to the evisceration of Egypt's national sovereignty.It turns out that the new Egyptian Constitution has already been drafted, not by the Egyptian people, but by the very US-backed protesters who brought about regime change in the first place. AReuters report quoted an opposition judge, who had been hiding-out in Kuwait until Mubarak's ousting, as having said civil society groups had already produced several drafts and a new constitution could be ready in a month.

These civil society groups include the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information openly funded by George Soros' Open Society Institute and the Neo-Con lined NED funded Egyptian Organization for Human Rights. It appears that while the International Crisis Group may be turning out the strategy, and their trustee ElBaradei leading the mobs into the streets, it is the vast array of NGOs their membership, including Soros, fund that are working out and implementing the details on the ground.Coupled with the US's recent pledge to openly fund Egyptian opposition groups ahead of elections, it is hard to see how anything but a globalist-backed tyranny will result from the coming transition. The boldness and size of the globalists' activities in the Middle East, North Africa, and now Iran is of such scale, it suggests the beginning of what may be the largest, attempted premeditated reordering of the world since the World Wars.The public's inability to wrap their minds around the reality of what is now transpiring in Egypt will only embolden the globalists to pursue the next stage of their world domineering agenda. It is essential for the people to make the connections and expose this charade for what it really is; neo-colonialism that has replaced invading armies with hordes of duped US-backed activists. Ashton to host global conference on north Africa

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - European foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton is to hold a high-level international conference in Brussels next week aiming to craft a global response to the upheaval in north Africa and the Middle East.She is inviting senior officials from the United States, Japan, international financial institutions including the World Bank to the European capital, as well as from the region itself, to develop a co-ordinated global response to the historic changes in the region.It is essential that the whole of the international community comes together on a strategy. We're hoping for something very substantial, an EU official told EUobserver.Officials stress that the meeting is more ambitious than a donors' conference. It's international, not EU, on the initiative of the high representative. The meeting is to exchange information and co-ordinate a response, said an EU diplomat.It's clear that we can't just have the EU acting. In order to maximise support, instead of us each doing our own thing separately, we need to pull together, added the source close to discussions, who preferred not to be named.The conference is unlikely to be at the ministerial level, but rather a meeting of senior civil servants, probably including, from Egypt, the director-general of the foreign ministry.

While the attendees are to discuss the response to what has happened across the region, the focus, according to the contact will obviously be on Tunisia and Egypt because that's where there has been concrete developments and needs. There are new administrations to deal with, but of course we will see what happens between now and then.Obviously this can be broadened. We've seen protests in Algeria, Jordan, Libya, Bahrain, Yemen.EU assistance is focussed on five institutional areas Brussels feels is necessary for deep democracy building: electoral reform, support for civil society, construction of an independent judiciary and a free press and media, and the fight against corruption.Preparations of support for Tunisia are at the most advanced stage, with EU assistance to target impoverished areas in the centre and south of the country. The idea is to develop a series of pilot projects for these regions modelled on the EU's own cohesion policies.In discussion with Tunisian authorities, Europe is also looking to tighten economic governance over the longer term and support the recently established investigation committee on corruption and fraud. The bloc is looking to strengthen the discourse on public financial management similar to efforts already underway as a part of ongoing trade liberalisation talks with Tunis.The European Investment Bank has also opened a dialogue to increase the support ceiling for the region by an additional billion euros.

Tunisia could be a candidate for loans, but there are two conditions: The country must have to have a financing arrangement with the IMF, and begin to address its balance of payments financing gap.Brussels is aware that opposition groups now entering government represent a mix of economic and ideological positions and that for many, the Western supported privatisation programmes of both regimes was seen as a source of corruption, and so the EU must carefully navigate these waters.But we cannot just give them these things. Jewish leader Roger Bismuth met this week with interim Prime Minister Mohammed Ghanoucci and requested better security.Dozens of Islamists demonstrated outside the synagogue last Friday and shouted, Jews wait, the army of Mohammed is coming back, and We'll redo the battle of Khaybar - a reference to the slaughter of Jews in what is now Saudi Arabia at the hands of Mohammed's army.The interim government's Interior Ministry denounced the rally. These people have no other motive than to attack the values of the republican regime based on the respect of freedom and belief, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, officials said.The government will spare no effort to safeguard civic rights and freedoms, they added.Concern for a repeat of last Friday's threats is particularly high Friday as Muslim leaders give their weekly sermons, an event extremist preachers may take advantage of to incite against Jews.Tunisia is home to approximately 1,600 Jews, down from 100,000 in the 1950s. The Jewish population is one of the largest in the Arab world. Most Tunisian Jews live on the southern island of Djerba.The country's long-time leader, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, was ousted last month after popular rallies for his removal. PA and Arab leaders have submitted a request to the United Nations Security Council to vote Friday to condemn Israel for allowing Jews to build homes within Jewish cities in Judea and Samaria.The resolution would condemn construction for Judea and Samaria Jews as illegal and a major obstacle to peace. In addition, it would state that the UN is prepared to send envoys to the region to examine the realities on the ground.The PA and the Arab world claim Judea and Samaria as part of a future Arab state.United States officials say they will oppose the resolution, but agree with the call to condemn Judea and Samaria construction. They reportedly suggested to the PA that the Security Council issue a non-binding statement opposing construction, instead of a resolution.

PA officials rejected the compromise, and announced Thursday that Arab leaders had submitted the proposed resolution.U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday that a Security Council resolution was not the right vehicle for advancing the diplomatic process. There is also national sovereignty, where nations are openly challenging this Anglo-American centric world order and refusing to implement the conditions of their own enslavement.These sweeping color revolutions, and coordinated military operations, both overt and covert, are dealing with the latter of these two challenges, while censorship, cognitive infiltration, and a tightening police state spanning the Western world under the very false premise of a War on Terror confronts the former.

The Middle East

With the globalist fueled destabilization in progress, concessions and regime changes are being made from Jordan to Egypt, all in the name of democratization. The protesters’ calls are verbatim repeats of the their local US funded NGOs’ mission statements. Skeptical as many may be that all of this is being orchestrated by the West, one needs only read the RAND Corporation’s 2007 report titled Building Moderate Muslim Networks where breathtaking confessions are made to not only reorder the Muslim world according to the West’s interests, but how they would follow the same model of civil society networks they have already used for decades during the Cold War.Egypt’s recent transition played out as a direct translation of RAND’s blueprint for meddling in the Muslim world. From the protest organizers and NGOs to the protest leaders, to the behind-the-scenes meddling by America’s military leadership, the Egyptian uprising was entirely a US production. Even the drafting of the new Egyptian Constitution is being carried out by organizations funded by George Soros and the US National Endowment for Democracy.The regional destabilization is resetting the geopolitical board in favor for a renewed effort to affect regime change in Iran. It has been extensively covered that the globalists have intricate and extensive plans, in the form of Brookings Institute’s Which Path to Persia? report, to fund color revolutions, support terrorism inside of the Islamic Republic and even provoke war with a nation they concede would rather avoid conflict. No sooner did North African and Arab regimes begin to crumble did the Green Revolution in Iran start up again. As if reiterating the summation of Brookings’ report, the globalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has recently and overtly called on the US to back the Green Revolution.Iran’s fall to the globalists, the extraction of its wealth, and the end of its support for Chinese and Russian economic and military ambitions would isolate the so-called Shanghai Cooperative Organization further.

Russia’s Encirclement

Russia, along with China appear to be the two biggest blocs of opposition to the Anglo-American establishment. Indeed there are plenty of people and organizations within each nation gladly working hand-in-hand with the globalists, who in turn, are overtly trying to tempt and coerce the two nations to integrate themselves into their global world order.Men like Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who rose to power in Russia amongst an era of immense corruption, began building networks of NGOs modeled directly after those of the Anglo-Americans in the West, even naming this network the Open Russian Foundation after George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. According to geopolitical researcher William Engdahl, this Open Russian Foundation included Henry Kissinger and Lord Jacob Rothschild on its board of directors and its goal was to transform Russia from a sovereign state and into something more palatable for globalist consumption.Whatever Khdorkovsky’s early successes may have been, they were cut short by Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin, who has safely confined Khodorkovsky behind the bars of a Siberian prison. Today, Khdorkovsky receives lobbying and legal services from notorious globalist lawyer Robert Amsterdam who leads international efforts to vilify Russia and justify the nation’s encirclement by NATO.

After Tunisia fell and protests began brewing in Egypt, Foreign Policy magazine published the Freedom House’s list of Who’s Next? On the list was Belarus’ Aleksandr Lukashenko, leader of a European nation directly bordering Russia’s western border, staring Moscow in the face. NATO itself admits the reluctance of Belarus to join its now unjustified organization, while the mainstream media berates the Belarusian government for putting down protests launched after the results of recent elections that saw the Western-backed opposition defeated.Looking at a map of Russia, not a nation touching its borders has been spared the globalist treatment, from the Ukraine and their US-backed Orange Revolution, to Georgia and its US-backed invasion of South Ossetia. For Russia, they seem more than prepared to fight back, humiliating the US-trained and equipped Georgian military on the battlefield and overseeing the results of the US-funded Orange Revolution overturned, with Ukrainian talks to join NATO halted.By targeting the Middle East, and in particular Iran, which both China and Russia have been using to check the West’s world domineering ambitions, the globalists’ hope is to renew political unrest in Russia’s satellite regions and complete its campaign of encircling Russia, thus forcing it to concede to its place amongst the new global order.

China’s String of Pearls

It is no secret China depends on oil imports to not only keep its economy growing, but to keep its vast population busy and prosperous, thus keeping the ruling government in power. This has been a long known realism by both China and the West. For China’s part, they have begun building a presence on continental Africa, especially in Sudan where they have established a 1,000 mile oil pipeline from the vast nation’s heartland to Port Sudan on the Red Sea. They have also provided relief to the country from UN sanctions and buys the majority of Sudan’s oil exports.China also imports an immense amount of oil from Iran. In fact, the Islamic Republic represents the world’s second largest exporter of oil to China, behind Saudi Arabia.

From Sudan and Iran, across the Indian Ocean, and back to China’s shores in the South China Sea, represents a String of Pearls, or a series of geopolitical assets China is developing to protect this vital logistical route. This String includes a Chinese port in Pakistan’s Baluchistan region, another facility in Myanmar (Burma), and expanded facilities in the South China Sea off the coast of Vietnam. China is also building up the size and capabilities of its fleet, including submarines which now shadow America’s carrier groups, and the outfitting of their first aircraft carrier which is nearing completion.The term String of Pearls was used as the title of the US Strategic Studies Institute’s (SSI) 2006 report String of Pearls: Meeting the challenge of China’s rising power across the Asian littoral. In this report, China’s ambitions to project its power along this route is viewed as a direct challenge to American supremacy as well as a threat to the West’s unipolar vision of a new world order.While China may not be a champion of human freedom, they do appear to favor a multipolar world where sovereign nations coexist instead of the Anglo-American unipolar world where, unsurprisingly, the British and American oligarchs dominate the planet.To prevent such a multipolar world from coming into existence, the SSI report suggests several strategies regarding China, from engaging and enticing it to become what globalist pusher Robert Zoellick calls a responsible stakeholder in the international system, to outright military confrontation and containment.

Of course this report was written in July 2006, and the ink hadn’t even dried before Israel suffered a humiliating defeat in its war with Lebanon, the war with Iran stalled, and globalist minion Thaksin Shinawtra was ousted from power in Thailand in a display of jealously defended sovereignty in Southeast Asia.It appears that the globalists, over the following years, would present China with a flattering role to play in their global order while simultaneously destabilizing nearly every nation along the String of Pearls. The US has expanded its war in Afghanistan and is attempting to balkanize Pakistan in the process, specifically the Baluchistan region where China is establishing a naval presence. Pakistan’s Baluchistan region is also the seaside starting point of an energy and logistical conduit running northward through the Himalayas and into Chinese territory. The US is also heavily involved in destabilizing Myanmar (Burma) to affect regime change and subsequently establishing a Washington dependent government.Thailand neighbors Myanmar to the east and possesses the narrow Kra Isthmus China would like to develop into a Suez/Panama Canal-like project to shorten trips for its oil laden, China-bound tankers. Thailand also serves as an overland conduit, running north and south as in Pakistan, with a developed rail system connecting Singapore’s shipping yards to Laos’ capital of Vientiane. China has begun the development of a rail system through Laos and the upgrading of Thailand’s rail system. Thailand also is one of the world’s largest rice exporters, which makes the nation vital to China’s future growth.It is no surprise then, that Thailand, like Myanmar, has suffered multiple attempts by the US to affect regime change. Their man, Thaksin Shinawatra is an overt globalist, having formally served as an adviser to the Carlyle Group, and since his ousting from power in 2006, has been lobbied for by everyone from James Baker’s Baker Botts, to ICG’s Kenneth Adelman and the Edelman PR firm, to his current lobbyist and lawyer, Robert Amsterdam.

It is quite clear that Washington is using its control of the Middle East and its control of the seas, albeit challenged control, to check China’s vastly superior financial and economic position. It is also clear that Washington is investing a great amount of military resources and intelligence assets to destabilize the entire String of Pearls to confound, contain, and leverage concessions from China, with the ultimate goal of folding the emerging Asian giant into the unipolar Anglo-American global order.How well this strategy is working is debatable, however, the US military is politically hobbled, strategically stretched, and led by vastly incompetent leaders in Washington who have lost the faith and trust of their own population, not to mention the world. The bold and perhaps desperate gambit the US is playing out in the Middle East could be a bid to rectify years of failure against China and the Shanghai Cooperative since the SSI wrote their report in 2006. Regime change in Iran is still the linchpin in making this latest bid a success.

South America

Even South America is not spared. There has been a lull in overt American meddling, allowing South America to become a bastion of sorts against the agents of globalization, however, covert operations and staging has been ongoing.Troubling reports coming from South America’s Argentina, no stranger to the ire of Anglo-American ambitions, indicate that tension is building up between Buenos Aires and Washington. It has culminated in a diplomatic row over a recently seized US C-17 transport chalk full of suspicious equipment and an even more suspicious explanation. This is leading many, including the government of Argentina, to believe the US is staging another round of destabilization efforts in South America.
Venezuela and Bolivia have been overtly targeted by the West in recent years by efforts to undermine and even overthrow their respective governments. The muted-confused response over the coup in Honduras also raises suspicions that America has begun striking back against the wave of regional nationalism sweeping South America. A visit over to Movements.org reveals that the US State Department/corporate funded organization is backing dissidents in Venezuela and encouraging the spread of civil society, gleefully noting the insidious effects it is having on bolstering the anti-Chavez opposition.

The recent US-backed wave of revolution sweeping the Middle East is just the beginning of a greater move to dislodge Iran and begin regaining ground against Russia and China after several years of disappointing results geopolitically. The ultimate goal in mind is to force Russia and China to accept their role as “responsible stakeholders” in the unipolar Anglo-American new world order. The unipolar world of Anglo-American financier domination requires that all competition be eliminated, all nations become interdependent, and most importantly, all governments conform to the globalists’ model of civil society which in turn answers to centralized global institutions.Understanding the overarching plan reveals the danger of being apathetic or complacent about the current unrest in the Middle East. It will surely spread, and depending on the Shanghai Cooperative’s response and their determination to remain the masters of their own destiny, greater confrontation may ensue. For the United States and its dwindling power, its meaningless offers to the world’s nations to join their bankrupt, one-sided model of world governance, and their growing economic mire, there is no telling what their desperation may transform into.
