TERROR CELL IN CANADA

WORLD TERRORISM

GENESIS 6:11-13
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.(WORLD TERRORISM,MURDERS)(HAMAS IN HEBREW IS VIOLENCE)
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence (TERRORISM)(HAMAS) through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

2 PETER 2:5
5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2 PETER 3:7
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men

LEVITICUS 26:16
16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you( sudden) terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

GENESIS 16:11-12
11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

ISAIAH 33:1,18-19 Woe to thee that spoilest,(destroys) and thou wast not spoiled;(destroyed) and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil,(destroy) thou shalt be spoiled;(destroyed) and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

JOHN 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

Terror Cell Uncovered in Canada
by Elad Benari AUG 27,10

Three people have been arrested in Canada as part of an alleged hometown plot.Hiva Mohammad Alizadeh, 30, and Misbahuddin Ahmed, 26, residents of Canadian capital Ottawa were arrested on Wednesday and made a brief court appearance on Thursday. Police have said that they expect more arrests. The Toronto Star reported on a third arrest in the case, this time of a man who appeared on Canadian Idol, Canada’s version of the popular television program American Idol, in 2008. Khuram Sher, 28, was arrested in London, Ontario, in connection to the terror plot. Sher is a 2005 graduate of the McGill medical school in Montreal. In 2006, he visited Pakistan during relief efforts after an earthquake in Kashmir. He auditioned unsuccessfully for Canadian Idol in 2008, where he told judges he was originally from Pakistan and came to Canada in 2005.The suspects are charged in connection with a plot to make and detonate improvised explosive devices as well as financing terror groups operating in Afghanistan.Canadian police said on Thursday that the terrorist cell was based in Ottawa and had international connections. The cell was only reportedly months away from exploding bombs on Canadian soil, said a senior police official.

Police allege that the three men have been conspiring since February 2008 with three others in a terrorist plot traced back to Iran, Pakistan and Dubai. Chief Superintendent Serge Therriault, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police chief of criminal operations said police seized more than 50 electronic circuit boards that could be used to produce improvised explosive devices, similar to lethal bombs that have been involved in the majority of deaths and injuries of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan.

This group posed a real and serious threat to the citizens of the national capital region and Canada’s national security, Therriault said.Alizadeh faces charges of making or possessing explosive devices for terrorist purposes and terrorist financing. According to police, he is an active member of an unnamed terrorist group.
Part of the decision to make the arrests at this time was to prevent the suspect from providing financial support to terrorist counterparts for the purchase of weapons which would in turn be used against coalition forces and our troops (in Afghanistan), said Therriault.Alizadeh and Misbahuddin were remanded in custody until they make a video court appearance next Wednesday. Sher’s relatives reacted in shock to his arrest. He was always joking around. He was a contestant on Canadian Idol. He's such a great guy, said Mariam Wasty, Sher’s cousin, to Postmedia News. I don't know why he'd be connected to this.Khurram Sher's uncle, Rafat Syed said: Oh my god, impossible. He's not that type of person. You must be joking.Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Thursday that terror networks have a global reach: They exist not only in remote countries but through globalization and the Internet, they have links in our country and all through the world,he said.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Opinion: Is Time a Muslim Magazine?
by Phyllis Chesler AUG 26,10

Phyllis Chesler, Ph.D. is emerita professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies and a frequent contributor to FOX News, Pajamas Media, and Middle East Quarterly.I did not think that the pro-Muslim/pro-Islamist and anti-Western propaganda could get any worse—and yet it just has. TIME magazine has an August 30 cover story titled Is America Islamophobic? Within, the article is titled: Islam in America: It’s part of the fabric of life, but protests reveal a growing hostility to the religion of Muslims.President Obama’s rather strange assertions that seven million Muslims live in America (only 2.5-3 million actually do), and that Islam has always played a role in America, actually contradict the point of this piece, but no matter. One might wonder why any hostility to a productive, historically significant Muslim presence in America exists. TIME magazine does not tell us. The article portrays Muslims as innocent victims and American non-Muslims as prejudiced racists who, historically, once banned Catholicism, tried to limit immigration, burned African-American churches, passed anti-Chinese legislation, criminalized certain Native-American rituals (polygamy, rejection of modern medicine), spawned the Ku Klux Klan, failed to elect a Catholic President until 1960, allowed Father Coughlin’s anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi rants to appear over the airwaves, and interned 120,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans during World War Two. This is all contained in TIME’s Brief History of Intolerance in America.

This article could easily appear in an Egyptian or Syrian magazine; however it would be Israel that would be blamed for various alleged atrocities, and Palestinians, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, even al-Qaeda, who would be seen as the innocent victims. TIME magazine does not balance out their history of American intolerance with a history of American tolerance, which included separating the state from religion, reforming religions, instituting a tradition of free speech, fighting a bloody Civil War in order to free the slaves, giving women the vote and educational opportunities, freeing Europe from Nazi fascist rule and waging a Cold war against Soviet totalitarianism. Also missing in the TIME magazine article is the fact that Muslim leaders, in the name of Islam, have behaved very badly and for a very long time. Missing is an equal history of Muslim countries which have practiced colonialism, imperialism, forced conversions, slavery (which is still practiced), and a far more barbaric mistreatment of non-Muslims infidels.Muslim leaders, in the name of Islam, killed and forcibly converted Hindus in India for 800 years—and are still persecuting them; they have also destroyed the Christian Church in the Middle East and Central Asia—it is no more; in its place are only mosques and minarets where once only churches stood. Muslims vanquished Zorastrianism and Buddhism, and both exiled and genocidally exterminated Jews, Armenians, and Greeks. According to Israeli historian, Benny Morris, the Arab 1948 war against Israel must now also be understood as a religious holy war, a jihad, one that is still ongoing (The 1948 War Was an Islamic Holy War, Middle East Quarterly, Summer 2010).

TIME magazine fails to note all this—and gives little credence to more recent historical events.Recently, Muslims, in the name of Islam, have hijacked planes, blown themselves and other people up, flown planes into tall buildings, plotted bomb attacks in New York City’s Times Square and over Detroit, shot American soldiers down on a military base in Texas, plotted to do so on military bases in New York and New Jersey. In addition, mosques everywhere, even in the West, have been preaching death to the Jews, death to Zionists, infidels, and Jihad Now! These mosques and their imams or mullahs have been funded by Arab and Muslim pro-jihad financiers. After years of denial, indifference, and anti-racist, multi-culturally relativist political correctness, Europeans and Americans are only now just waking up to what Israel has been living with for 63 years. Too little, too late, they are now trying to halt some of the Islamist practices which are crimes and are best described as Islamic gender and religious Apartheid. When westerners protest Islamic Apartheid, they are demonized as Islamophobes and racists. This means that any resistance to aggressive Islamification is shamed and slandered. If that doesn’t work, physical intimidation and lawsuits (lawfare) follow.

Incredibly, the Western media and political establishment has taken the Islamist side. They confuse Islamism or radical Islam with the majority of silent Muslims who are too afraid to take on the Islamists, (or who agree with them), and with the small but precious number of Muslim and ex-Muslim dissidents, feminists, secularists, and moderates who do stand up to the Islamists but who are not consulted by western leaders or quoted in the Western media. TIME magazine does not quote Ibn Warraq, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Seyran Ates, Zeyno Baran, M. Zuhdi Jasser, Magdi Allam, Bassam Tibi, Khaled Abu Toameh, who are Muslims and ex-Muslims who have written major works against Islamism, and who have argued for human rights within Islam, including the right to leave Islam without risking death.TIME magazine’s approach has also been adopted by the mainstream media in how they cover the controversy over the controversial mosque near Ground Zero. Those who oppose it are being called bigots, racists, and madmen, at least in the mainstream media. Those who defend it are seen as enlightened, tolerant victims whose religious freedom has been impinged. Just yesterday, Daisy Khan, Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf’s wife, claimed that the attacks have gone far beyond Islamophobia and are now in the realm of discrimination against Jews.Next thing I expect to hear is that the Zionists are behind the discrimination against the Jewish Muslims. Folks: Welcome to the Middle East in New York City. Now, we are really all Israelis.Phyllis Chesler is the author of thousands of articles and of thirteen books, including Women and Madness (1972), Woman’s Inhumanity to Woman (2002) and The New Anti-Semitism (2003). JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

REVELATION 13:16-18

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

EU popularity plunges right across the bloc
VALENTINA POP 26.08.2010 @ 17:48 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – People's confidence in the the European Union has dropped to record lows in most countries amid a placid response to the rising unemployment and the troubles of the eurozone, a Eurobarometer published on Thursday (26 August) shows.Fewer than half of Europe's citizens (49 percent) think that their country has benefited from EU membership – a seven-year low - while trust in the bloc's institutions has dropped to 42 percent, six points down compared to autumn 2009.The survey was carried out in May, at the peak of the sovereign debt crisis affecting Greece and the whole eurozone and amid hikes in unemployment all across the continent. The EU's image worsened dramatically in Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Italy and Luxembourg – where confidence in EU institutions fell by 10 to 18 percent compared to the previous year. Only Hungarians and Danes had a slightly better impression of the Brussels apparatus, while Belgians remained unchanged in the level of their opinion.Unemployment remains the biggest concern of EU citizens (48 percent), along with the economic situation in general (40 percent).

EU commission spokespeople on Thursday presented the results in a favourable light, stressing that the confidence levels in EU institutions are still higher than that of national governments and parliaments.I'm not sure we can make a link between the negative perception of citizens about the benefit of accession and criticism of EU institutions. The disappointment about accession could be linked to EU institutions, but also the way national governments have participated in the EU debate, influenced decisions, or the lack of information about the EU," commission spokesman Olivier Bailly said during a press briefing. When asked what they associate the EU with – most of them responded free travel and the euro. Peace was the third most popular answer, closely followed by waste of money (23 percent). Austrians were the most upset about Brussels' way of spending funds – 52 percent – followed by Germans (45 percent) and Swedes (36 percent).Only 19 percent of respondents felt that the EU stands for democracy, a drop of seven points compared to 2009. Just ten percent of the Finns, Brits and Latvians ticked the democracy box. A more idealistic view on the democratic standards upheld by the EU can be observed in Romania (33 percent), Bulgaria (32 percent) and Cyprus (30 percent). It's a clear sign that citizens were expecting Europe to come up with answers to problems which have a European dimension – and they still do, said Amadeu Altafaj Tardio, spokesman for economy and monetary affairs.Indeed, 75 percent of the respondents all across the EU said that stronger co-ordination of economic and financial policies among member states would be effective in fighting the economic crisis. A majority of Europeans, 72 percent, said they would back a stronger supervision by the EU of the activities of the most important international financial groups, an increase of four percentage points in 2009.But knowledge about what the term European economic governance actually means – a term which is still matter of dispute among member states, notably the UK and France - or which national reforms are best equipped to steer the country out of the crisis were not part of the questionnaire. For the first time since this Eurobarometer has been carried out, the survey also included Iceland, now a candidate country for EU accession. The results show that public support for EU membership is low: only 19 percent of respondents in Iceland believe it would be a good thing and 29 percent believe their country would benefit from EU membership.

German judges strengthen EU court, clarify Lisbon ruling
HONOR MAHONY 26.08.2010 @ 17:43 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Germany's constitutional court has laid down the ground rules for controlling decisions by the EU top's court, an area that had been left unclear after a controversial 2009 ruling by Germany's highest judges on the Lisbon Treaty, the EU's new rule book.In a ruling with far-reaching implications, the German court on Thursday (26 August), gave the green light to a 2005 judgement by the EU court that had called a German law inapplicable.Thursday's pronouncement backed by seven of the eight judges not only avoids a direct conflict with the EU's Luxembourg court but also appears to strengthen it. Germany's court stated that EU decisions may only be checked if European institutions seriously overstep their powers.A headline in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung says: Karlsruhe (the court) restricts its own powers.EU court decisions can only be re-examined if the breach of EU competences by the EU authority is obvious and the act in question leads to a structurally significant shift in the arrangement of competences between the member states and the European Union to the detriment of member states, says the ruling. The origins of Thursday's ruling began several years ago. The plaintiff in the so-called Mangold case had a temporary work contract with an auto supplier. The arrangement was based on a government law allowing employers to give only temporary work to people over 52 years of age. The EU court ruled that the law, proposed as part of a general package to free up the country's labour market, was age discriminatory and should not be enforced. This in turn led the national court to say the plaintiff was within his rights to ask for a permanent contract. The employer then took the matter to the constitutional court saying that the EU court had overstepped its powers by ruling on short-term contracts as protection against anti-age discrimination was not part of EU primary law but had been handed down in a directive, which member states have some leeway in implementing.

Lisbon Treaty

The constitutional court on Thursday confirmed the original European Court of Justice ruling. Its also clarified its role towards EU court more generally with its statement defining when an EU ruling maybe checked. This had been called into question by a controversial ruling by the Karlsruhe judges in 2009 concerning the Lisbon Treaty, which increases EU power in several areas and had been challenged by a conservative German MP.The 2009 ruling emphasised the principle that the EU could only act if its powers were acknowledged by member states and blatant transgressions would be controlled by the German constitutional court. The judgement raised fears that the German constitutional court could put the break on further EU integration - with the EU court long known as an engine of integration through its case law.

Interpreting Thursday's ruling, the Legal Tribune said (With the decision) the judges in Karlsruhe are clarifying their verdict on the EU Treaty of Lisbon and at the same time are diffusing potential conflict with the ECJ.One judge, Herbert Landau, disputed the decision reached by his colleagues, whom he accused of abandoning the Lisbon Treaty consensus. He said the ECJ decision on age discrimination was clearly overstepping its powers and said his colleagues did not take into account the creeping transfer of powers to the EU.German President Roman Herzog, who has been critical of the direction of the EU court's rulings in the past, has previously written that the Mangold case would set the tone for future relations between the ECJ and national courts.

France exploring tax harmonisation with Germany
VALENTINA POP 26.08.2010 @ 09:41 CET

France is looking to bring its fiscal system closer to that of Germany, French budget minister Francois Baroin has said after visiting his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble.Germany is a model which should be a source of inspiration for us. The political consensus in the German society on reducing the deficits is quite spectacular, Mr Baroin said Wednesday (25 August), Les Echos reports.French President Nicolas Sarkozy intends to accelerate the harmonisation of both fiscal systems, on corporate as well as personal income taxes, the minister added.Mr Sarkozy has requested the French court of auditors to issue a report looking at areas of fiscal convergence with the German system. The report is due by the end of the year, but a pre-report will be published at the end of September. In Germany, there is no wealth tax and no tax shield, but still their economy is flourishing. These are topics which are useful, Mr Baroin said.Mr Sarkozy's government has introduced a tax shield capping the country's wealth tax at 50 percent of income, a move strongly criticised by the Socialist opposition.Germany abolished its wealth tax in 1997, a tax on those earning above a certain threshold, after a negative ruling by the Constitutional Court. Just a year before, the German wealth tax brought in about €4.6 billion to the state coffers.Harmonising tax systems is one way of closing competitiveness gaps within the eurozone which exacerbated the sovereign debt crisis earlier this year.

In the longer term, Paris is also looking at harmonising value-added tax (VAT), which is higher in France – 19.6 percent compared to the German 19 percent - while some services such as hotel and restaurant businesses are benefitting from more exemption in the French system than in the German one.Mr Baroin also sought support from Germany on capping the EU budget, as governments are forced to slash their own spending and do not want to see an increase in their contribution towards the Union's coffers. From the German side, Mr Schaeuble said there is consensus between the two capitals on seeking European harmonisation on bank profits taxation. We don't want to see a regulatory patchwork in Europe, a spokesman for Mr Schauble said, according to DPA.A special meeting of finance ministers in September will discuss the matter further. The German cabinet on Wednesday approved a bank restructuring bill, which includes plans for a bank levy, with proceeds going into a bank restructuring fund that would be used only in the event of future crises. Berlin estimates revenues of about €1.2 billion a year from this bank tax, aimed at protecting the taxpayer from bailing out big banks, as was the case after the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008.

Israel rebukes Ashton for voicing concern on military trial
HONOR MAHONY 26.08.2010 @ 09:25 CET

EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton has sharply criticised the conviction of Palestinian activist Abdallah Abu Rahmah, earning herself a rebuke from the Israeli authorities.Ms Ashton on Wednesday (25 August) expressed deep concern at the move and reminded the Israeli authorities that Mr Abu Rahmah is committed to non-violent protest.Mr Abu Rahmah was convicted by a military court on Monday on charges of incitement and organising and participating in an illegal demonstration. He was cleared of stone throwing and possession of arms. The 39-year old activist, in jall having been detained in December and now awaiting sentence, is a protest leader in the West Bank village of Bil'in. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years. The protests are generally peaceful but often see stone-throwing by young protesters. The EU considers Abdallah Abu Rahmah to be a human rights defender committed to non-violent protest against the route of the Israeli separation barrier ... The EU considers the route of the barrier where it is built on Palestinian land to be illegal, said Ms Ashton is a statement. The EU has attended all the court hearings over the past eight months. Her words came a week before the start of the first direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians for more than 18 months. The high representative is deeply concerned that the possible imprisonment of Mr Abu Rahmah is intended to prevent him and other Palestinians from exercising their legitimate right to protest against the existence of the separation barriers in a non-violent manner, the statement continued.UK daily The Guardian reports a spokesperson for the Israeli foreign ministry as saying that Ms Ashton had no right to make such comments.

It is very unusual for a foreign dignitary to express views on the justice system of another country. If [Ashton] has found a flaw in the system, she should say so. Otherwise it's unclear why she should interfere in the proceedings. The fact that she has expressed a view and has disregarded the evidence is highly improper, said spokesperson Yigal Palmor. The Popular Struggle Co-Ordination Committee called the charge absurd, reports the UK's Independent, adding it showed how far the military would go to silence and smear unarmed dissent. The Committee also said that charge of organising demonstrations under Israeli military law had not been used since the first intifada starting in 1987.Ms Ashton's intervention comes in the context of Quartet (the EU, Russia, the Un and the US) efforts to rebuild trust between Israel and Palestine in a fresh round of peace talks due to start on 2 September.

Canada: Book Demonizing Israel in School Libraries
by Elad Benari AUG 27,10

The school board in Toronto, Canada, has decided to support a novel that portrays IDF soldiers and Judea and Samaria residents in a negative way.The Shepherd's Granddaughter is a novel published in 2008 by Canadian author Anne Laurel Carter. The story tells the tale of a young Arab girl living in Judea and Samaria who wants to be a shepherd like her grandfather. In her quest to become a shepherd, she encounters violent Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria as well as violent Israeli soldiers, who poison some of her sheep, bulldoze her house, shoot and kill her dog, prevent her family from harvesting their olives, and beat and jail her father and uncle.Toronto parent Brian Henry recently complained to the Toronto District School (TDSB) about the nature of the novel. Henry expressed his concern that the unbalanced book could result in anti-Israel sentiment and anti-Semitism. While he said he did not want the book banned from schools, Henry said in his letter that our teacher-librarians should not be encouraging our children to read a biased, one-sided and prejudicial account of such a complex and sensitive issue.

In a statement released this past March, Frank Dimant, B’nai Brith Canada’s Executive Vice President said: We have written to the provincial Minister of Education expressing our concerns with this book which is so clearly biased against Israel, and have called for its removal from the recommended reading list. Having these types of one-sided books in the classroom marginalizes Jewish children and is definitely not in the spirit of the TDSB, which recently banned the hate-fest known as Israeli Apartheid Week from its schools.Dimant added that a young girl, who admitted to having Jewish friends, recently reviewed The Shepherd's Granddaughter on a popular book-review website and stated that reading this book made her want to go to the West Bank and kill Israelis. Clearly, this propaganda has no place in our classrooms and is against Canadian values.Despite the outrage, however, the TDSB has chosen to continue to support the novel. Chris Spence, the TDSB’s director of education said in a response letter to Henry: After evaluating this report and taking some time to personally read the novel, my decision is to accept the review committee’s nine recommendations. The Shepherd's Granddaughter has the potential to engage our Grade 7 and 8 students (a critical age for the development of social consciousness about human society) in understanding the complex issues of their world. This expression of support means that the novel can continue to be offered to students in school libraries throughout Toronto.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Iran proposes to produce nuclear fuel with Russia By NASSER KARIMI, Associated Press Writer – Thu Aug 26, 9:46 am ET

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran has submitted a proposal to Russia to jointly assemble the nuclear fuel for the country's new power reactor and any future facilities, state media reported Thursday. The move appeared to be an attempt by Tehran to gain some control over the nuclear fuel process at its Russian-built Bushehr nuclear plant. With Moscow's help, Iran began loading uranium fuel into the facility on Saturday. The United States and allies lifted their opposition to the Bushehr plant after Russia pledged to handle all the nuclear fuel to make sure no material is shifted to a possible Iranian weapons program in the future. The latest proposal by Iran to have even a sideline role in the nuclear fuel process could stir backlash in the West.We have made a proposal to Russia to create a consortium under Russian license to do part of the work in Russia and part in Iran, the head of Iran's atomic energy agency, Ali Akbar Salehi, was quoted as saying by state-run Press TV. We should show the world our capability in uranium production and its conversion into nuclear fuel.Salehi, who is also Iran's vice president, said Moscow is studying the proposal.

An official at the Russian nuclear agency said the two countries have discussed the possibility of creating a facility to assemble the fuel rods for Bushehr. The facility would operate under Russian license on Iranian territory. But the official said the uranium enrichment would be performed on Russian soil. Speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, the official added that Russia first will focus on commissioning the Bushehr plant, and then turn its attention to Iran's new proposal.Russia is currently supplying all the uranium fuel for Bushehr. That fuel is enriched to 3.5 percent, well below the 90 percent enrichment needed for a nuclear warhead.Bushehr is not considered a proliferation risk because the Iranians have agreed to allow Moscow to retrieve all the used reactor fuel for reprocessing. Spent fuel contains plutonium, which can be used to make atomic weapons.Salehi also said that Iran has produced 55 pounds (25 kilograms) of uranium enriched to 20 percent since February. Iranian officials say the uranium enriched to 20 percent is needed to fuel a medical research reactor.Iran's refusal to stop enriching uranium lies at the heart of its dispute with the West over Tehran's nuclear program. Iran says it needs to enrich uranium to make fuel for an envisaged reactor network, but highly enriched uranium can be used to create fissile material nuclear warheads. The United States and other nations fear Iran aims to produce nuclear weapons under the cover of its civil nuclear power program. Iran denies the charge, and says its program is peaceful. The U.N. Security Council imposed a fourth round of sanctions on Iran in June over Tehran's refusal to stop enriching uranium.Associated Press writer Lena Yegorova in Moscow contributed to this report.

Palestinians riot in east Jerusalem neighborhood By DALIA NAMMARI, Associated Press Writer - Thu Aug 26, 1:13 pm ET

JERUSALEM – Palestinian residents in east Jerusalem threw rocks at police and settlers and set cars on fire in an ongoing dispute over a contested neighborhood Thursday.Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the early morning clashes in Silwan neighborhood erupted due to a disagreement over a pathway claimed by both Jewish and Arab families. He said an Israeli court ruled in 2000 that the pathway belongs to a Jewish family.Palestinian residents, however, say the clash erupted after settlers were seen trying to break into a local mosque.About 50,000 Palestinians and 70 Jewish families live in Silwan and tensions are high in the neighborhood over a municipal plan that includes the slated demolition of Palestinian homes. There have been recent clashes. The pathway leads to an ancient underground spring that some Jews use as a ritual bath to cleanse themselves before morning prayers.

There is a mosque near the spring's entrance.

Silwan resident Ahmed Qaraein told The Associated Press that residents saw four settlers trying to enter the mosque compound. He said he yelled at the settlers and they ran to a nearby house.Palestinian residents then threw rocks at the house and settlers responded with warning shots, Qaraein said.Rosenfeld denied anyone tried to enter the mosque.Israel captured and annexed east Jerusalem in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel considers the sector part of its capital. That claim is not recognized internationally. The fate of east Jerusalem figures to play a central role in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks set to resume next week.

Former IAEA Inspector Warns Iran Can Build Atomic Weapon
by Chana Ya'ar AUG 26,10

A former nuclear inspector for the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is warning that Iran already has the capacity to produce a nuclear bomb.Olli Heinonen revealed the information in an interview with the French Le Monde magazine on Thursday.According to Reuters, quoting the interview, Heinonen was an expert on Iran’s nuclear program during his tenure as the deputy director-general of the IAEA, heading the agency’s nuclear safeguards arm.The Finnish official said the Islamic Republic currently possesses three tons of low-enriched uranium which has the potential to be used in building an atomic bomb.Interviewed just prior to stepping down from his post this August for personal reasons, Heinonen said, In theory, it is enough to make one or two nuclear weapons. But it makes no sense to go all the way to the final step, when one only has just enough material for two weapons.

Peaceful Claims, But Galloping Pace

Tehran is continuing to insist that its intentions are peaceful, although intelligence officials in Israel, the U.S. and other Western nations are convinced Iran is racing to build a nuclear weapon. Earlier this month, the Islamic Republic activated a second centrifuge cascade, linking it to one activated in February, a move the IAEA said has enabled Iran to produce enriched uranium at up to 20 percent in the two linked cascades.

Both are located at the Natanz facility.

In addition, Ali Akbar Saleh, the head of Iran’s atomic program, announced 10 days ago the country plans to build a third uranium enrichment plant within the year. Construction of a second plant is already underway at a mountain site in Fordo.

From Iran's Nuclear Ambitions to Online Hate
by Dan Verbin AUG 27,10

Rabbi Abraham Cooper was in Toronto last week to address members of the Simon Wiesenthal Center on a range of issues of importance to the Jewish community.

Speaking with Shalom Life, Cooper, the Associate Dean of the center, noted that Toronto has 24,000 Simon Wiesenthal Center members out of a total of 400,000 worldwide.Canada’s grassroots support is very loyal. I wanted to give them a perspective and update, he said. One of Cooper’s biggest concerns at the moment is Iran’s nuclear program. He recently met with a senior official of the White House’s National Security Council to address a Congressional vote on the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty in which Israel was named for the first time, but Iran was not mentioned. In terms of what to do to ensure Iran does not develop nuclear weapons, he said, Everyone’s hoping and praying that the sanctions that are in place, at least on paper, will have an effect. He also believes that efforts have to ratcheted up to make sure that overseas subsidiaries of companies don’t use loopholes to continue trading with Iran. For instance, there was a recent report that German firms are continuing to help the Iranian regime even though they are not supposed to.

It’s perfectly understandable to focus on the existential threat of a homicidal maniac like Ahmadinejad and the mullahs who want to do in Israel and the Jews, said Cooper. However, he and his colleagues have visited the United Arab Emirates twice where they met with top government officials and the UAE is just as worried about Iran as Israel is. He explained how from the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai, you can see the three islands of Abu Moussa, Greater Tunbs and Lesser Tunbs, which are currently are under Iranian control (the UAE believes that these Persian Gulf islands belong to them).Just across the water, the Iranian threat is an existential threat to [the UAE’s] very nice world order where oil is an ATM machine to them and the United States has provided cover all of these decades. The message Cooper heard from UAE officials: If the bomb isn’t stopped, they are going to have to make a deal with the devil. They are not sleeping at night; this has nothing to do with Israel, he said. In fact, they are hoping that the United States and Israel and others will get together to take out that threat.According to Cooper, many American diplomats, journalists and experts are way off course when they say, What would be so bad if Iran gets the bomb? It will make Israel behave and make the Arabs thank us so what’s the big deal? This is an issue that much more profound because when they go nuclear, so does Egypt, so does Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE will have no problem with their chequebook to do the same. Can you imagine a Middle East in which every zip code has nuclear weapons? Nobody there who we spoke to wants to do it, everyone there will do it. So the stakes are much higher and go far beyond our concerns for our families and friends in Israel. It’s the whole region. He would have liked to see President Barack Obama up the pressure on the Ahmadinejad government a lot earlier. Right now, however, he seems to be on it.

He also mentioned that the US government needs to do much more to support the pro-democracy movement in Iran, saying that in the past the American government has always used its power to support dissident movements – for example, with Voice of America broadcasts –in places like the former Soviet Union. Cooper also touched on digital hate crime. Each year, the Simon Wiesenthal Center puts out a report on Digital Terrorism. The online battle between pro-terrorists and pro-democracy activists is raging, said Cooper. It may be a silent war but it’s a very real war.

Cooper, who meets with Internet corporations such as Yahoo, Google and Facebook, explained that in the U.S. because of freedom of speech, they approach online hate by asking companies to take down offending sites citing violations of terms of usage.
We’ve generally been very successful at that, taking offline thousands of websites and other hateful postings, he said. You and I both know that that doesn’t mean these groups and individuals don’t try to re-organize and find another way to come right back on, through another service. That’s a kind of ongoing guerrilla warfare. As far as he is concerned, Canada has the best approach in the world to such matters, especially with our anti-hate laws. Cooper, who deals with Canada’s IP association, said that it takes usually no more than a phone call or an email to a Canadian ISP for a hate site that has crossed the line to be removed. He said that Canadians reach for their best instincts while Europeans are mired in bureaucratic minutia of the sort that generally makes dealing with the removal of anti-Semitic or racist content very tricky.Social networking seems to be the new battlefront, with many serial haters using Youtube postings to spread their vile messages. That said, Cooper is quick not to blame the Internet or technology for spreading the poison. It’s the other way around, with the hatemonger responsible, from the days of the mimeograph up to today with Facebook. When we talk about Canada, we hold it up as an example because it’s really a combination of the private sector, law enforcement, the media and the public, Cooper commented. Overall, it works really well. I’m sure there is a lot of frustration about the offshore addresses that these people end up using. It’s a struggle.(Reprinted with permission from Shalom Life)(IsraelNationalNews.com)

DANIEL 11:21-23

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

Freeze Dramatically Drove Up Housing Prices in Judea, Samaria
by Gil Ronen AUG 26,10

Construction starts and house sales in 2010 dropped by 70% in Judea and Samaria and by 30% in Jerusalem, compared to 2009.Housing is almost impossible to find throughout Judea and Samaria as a result of the ten month freeze that ends in September, according to Yisrael Ze'irah, the director of BeEmunah, a group that promotes religious-Zionist housing. In places like Efrat, Maaleh Adumim and all of the large settlement blocs, Zeirah said, all of the housing has been sold out and prices have risen dramatically as a result. As a result, he told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew language service, some of the demand has turned elsewhere, to old Israel within the 1949-armistice lines. Zeirah called on the religious-Zionist public to take interest in housing in these places as well – many of which are in a process of strengthening religious identity. We in the BeEmunah project are focused on several projects that required Torah core groups. We came out with projects in Pardes Hana, Lod, Yokne'am – places with national and spiritual importance. Our arrival has great influence, he said. In Yokne'am there are 36 of our families, in Pardes Hana 84. There is a thirst for spirituality... Wherever the religious Zionist public arrives, we feel wanted. Even in Yafo, where some NPOs filed High Court motions against us, the public itself tells us – we were waiting for you to arrive.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Storm Earl in central Atlantic better organized
Thu Aug 26, 5:25 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Tropical Storm Earl in the eastern Atlantic Ocean continued to move westward on Thursday, with the U.S. National Hurricane Center still expecting the system to become the season's third hurricane by Saturday.Early computer models still show the storm moving west and then northwest, eventually passing well west of Bermuda and away from key oil and gas producing areas in the Gulf of Mexico. In its latest advisory, the NHC said Earl, located about 1,620 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands, was getting better organized. The system was moving slightly faster at 18 miles per hour (30 km per hour), but maximum sustained winds were unchanged from earlier at about 45 mph (75 km per hour). Some additional strengthening was forecast during the next 48 hours, and Earl could become a hurricane by Saturday.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Danielle strengthened on Thursday, with wind speeds of 110 mph up slightly from 105 mph earlier but still just below major Category 3 strength.
Danielle was located about 680 miles southeast of Bermuda, moving northwest at about 15 mph.The system was expected to gradually turn in a more northerly direction and strengthen into a major hurricane tonight or on Friday as wind climb to 111 mph or higher.Computer models still showed Danielle tracking northwest and then north, eventually passing to the east of Bermuda. The NHC was also monitoring an area of disturbed weather associated with a tropical wave about 450 miles southeast of the southern Cape Verde Islands in the far eastern Atlantic. There was about a 20 percent chance that system would become a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moved westward at 15 to 20 mph.(Reporting by Joe Silha; Editing by Marguerita Choy)

Dow ends below 10,000 on economic worries
By Leah Schnurr – Thu Aug 26, 5:18 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The Dow closed below 10,000 on Thursday a day ahead of an expected downward revision in U.S. second-quarter economic growth and a major speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.Major technology shares were among the biggest losers, with the Nasdaq falling more than the Dow and S&P 500. Tech shares have been seen as a proxy for economic growth. Cisco Systems (CSCO.O) fell 2.4 percent to $20.70, while Intel (INTC.O) gave up 1.6 percent at $18.18.Stocks initially rose on data showing first-time claims for jobless benefits fell more than expected last week, but the number was still too high to signal a shift in the weak labor market. The four-week average of new claims, regarded as a better gauge of trends, rose to the highest since late November. The best the bull can say is that the recovery is evening itself out now, it's not accelerating any more, said Linda Duessel, market strategist at Federated Investors in Pittsburgh. We think it's a soft patch and not a double dip, but the market is pricing more and more for a double dip, so you're vulnerable to the upside. The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) fell 74.25 points, or 0.74 percent, to 9,985.81. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) shed 8.11 points, or 0.77 percent, to 1,047.22. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) lost 22.85 points, or 1.07 percent, to 2,118.69.It was the first time the Dow has closed below the psychologically important 10,000 level since July 6. The market then began a rebound and logged seven straight days of gains.

In his speech on Friday Bernanke is likely to discuss the uncertain prospects for the economy but isn't expected to give many clues about whether the U.S. central bank will pump more cash into the economy to keep the recovery going.Bernanke and central bankers from around the world are gathering for their annual meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with the agenda expected to include a discussion of printing yet more money to spur growth. After a recent spate of poor economic numbers, there were jitters the GDP data could show the economy is weaker than originally thought. The government's preliminary reading is expected to come in at 1.4 percent, down from 2.4 percent estimated a month ago. Estimates range broadly from 0.9 percent to 2.2 percent, according to a Reuters poll. On the technical picture, investors were still looking for the 1,040 level on the S&P to act as support. Some consider a dip below that level to be a buying opportunity, as was seen on Wednesday when the index briefly fell below it.In deal news, Dell Inc (DELL.O) raised its bid for data storage company 3PAR Inc (PAR.N) to $1.6 billion (HPQ.N).But Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ.N) came back with a revised offer of $1.8 billion after the closing bell, sending 3PAR's shares up 7.2 percent to $27.90 in extended-hours trading. Shares of 3PAR closed at $26.76. HP closed down 0.1 percent at $38.22, while Dell ended down 0.3 percent to $11.75.In after-hours trade, Dell lost 0.9 percent to $11.65 and HP slipped 0.4 percent to $38.05.

A drop in shares of coal companies weighed on the energy sector for a second day as the price of natural gas fell, raising concerns that power plants would switch to gas from coal. Massey Energy (MEE.N) fell 4.2 percent to $27.93, while the S&P energy sector (.GSPE) fell 1 percent.About 7 billion shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, well below last year's estimated daily average of 9.65 billion.Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 1,928 to 1,064, while on the Nasdaq, decliners beat advancers 1,770 to 861.(Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Kenneth Barry)

POISONED WATERS

REVELATION 8:8-11
8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood:(bitter,Poisoned) and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.(poisoned)

REVELATION 16:3-7
3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.(enviromentalists won't like this result)
4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.
5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.
6 For they(False World Church and Dictator) have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Panhandle firm sues Gulf oil well fluids company By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer - AUG 26,10

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Panhandle's largest private landowner on Thursday sued a Houston-based company responsible for the drilling fluids including mud that should have controlled the pressure in the well and prevented the blowout of BP's failed Gulf of Mexico oil well.Real estate developer St. Joe Co. is seeking unspecified damages against M-I SWACO for a decline in the value of its 577,000 Panhandle acres and in its developments. At its worst point during the massive Gulf oil spill, the company said it lost about $1.4 billion in stock value. The company's stock closed at $24.13 a share on Thursday. It had reached a six-month high of $37.44 on April 29 before the spill began to reach the coast.A month after the spill, an international airport opened in Panama City on land donated by St. Joe and surrounded by land the company planned to develop. St. Joe had courted Southwest Airlines to service the airport under a unique plan in which the company agreed to pay the airline's fuel bill if it did not reach passenger goals in the opening year.St. Joe lead counsel William Brewer said the company had a positive future before the spill.

Sitting in the chair that any one of the executives at St. Joe sits in, you would have said on April 19 that you were as proud as punch at what you had done and that our future was very bright indeed, he said. But less than two months later, St. Joe had lost more than 40 percent of its stock value.M-I SWACO did not return phone messages and e-mails seeking comment on the lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Delaware. St. Joe filed a similar action against Halliburton on Aug. 4 and the company has said it plans to sue others involved in the BP well.On April 20, an oil rig owned by Transocean Ltd. and leased by BP exploded 50 miles off the Louisiana coast, killing 11 workers and triggering the world's worst peacetime spill. Oil fouled the beaches in Gulf coast states and drove away tourists. The company being sued, M-I SWACO, is a joint venture between Nevada-based Schlumberger of and Smith International of Delaware.According to the lawsuit, SWACO officials ignored safety warnings on the Deepwater Horizon.Eleven crewmembers lost their lives. ... Since that time, experts have universally concluded that the decision to remove drilling mud before the well had been finally plugged was a significant cause of the explosion, the lawsuit states.M-I SWACO deliberately chose to implement and execute a drilling fluid program on the Deepwater Horizon it knew was grossly negligent, unsafe and inherently flawed, the lawsuit says.Messages left for the press contact at M-I SWACO weren't immediately returned Thursday.

SINS OF PEOPLE

ISAIAH 5:20-25
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 TIMOTHY 1:9
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

DECIEVERS WAXING WORSE AND WORSE.

2 TIMOTHY 3:13
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

MORE SIN SIGNS

EPHESIANS 5:5-8
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

By ABDULLAH AL-SHIHRI, Associated Press Writer – Thu Aug 26, 11:48 am ET

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – A conservative Saudi cleric was told to stop giving unauthorized edicts after he called for a boycott of a supermarket chain that employs women as cashiers, the office of the kingdom's most senior religious leader said Thursday. The move is the first public reprimand of a prominent cleric following a royal decree that limits the issuance of fatwas to the country's most senior group of clerics. Fatwas are religious edicts that provide guidance in matters of everyday life to pious Muslims.Sheik Youssef al-Ahmed had urged people not to shop at Panda Supermarket because women there work in jobs that allow for the mingling of the sexes, which the cleric said was a violation of Islamic law.Saudi media reported that al-Ahmed's fatwa forced the supermarket management to reassign 11 of its women employees to other positions on Wednesday. The chain could not be reached for comment.Grand Mufti Sheik Abdul-Aziz Al Sheik's office said Thursday he had summoned al-Ahmed and ordered the cleric to refrain from issuing unauthorized fatwas. The office said it received a pledge from al-Ahmed not to issue any fatwas without approval.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam and religious leaders have strong influence over policy making and social mores. Sexes are segregated in schools and public places. Women are not allowed to drive or vote, and physical education classes are banned in state-run girls' schools.Saudi King Abdullah has been trying to clamp down on ultraconservative ideology, including allowing women to take up commercial jobs.Earlier in August, Abdullah decreed that only the powerful government-sanctioned Council of Senior Islamic Scholars could issue fatwas. And last year, the king dismissed a hard-line cleric who criticized a newly inaugurated university for allowing men and women to take classes together. But reining in the fatwas — or any learned scholar from providing them — may prove difficult as they are a way of life for observant Muslims who freely seek guidance from their local clerics. In a call-in TV show on satellite channel al-Usra, which is Arabic for The Family, al-Ahmed defended his edict. The fatwa has fueled campaigns on the Internet and through social networking groups. A group on Facebook had nearly 1,500 members supporting al-Ahmed.Al-Ahmad said having women work as cashiers was a step toward adopting a Westernized project. This is a project of the hypocrites that must be stopped, it's a violation of the country's laws, he said in the show.In another example of the clash between fatwas and state policy, a senior cleric recently said women should not participate in international or local equestrian competitions because it violates rules of modesty and causes them to mingle with men.The edict went against the kingdom's decision to send young female competitor Dalma Malhas to the Youth Olympics in Singapore.Malhas, 18, won a bronze metal on Tuesday in the first ever Saudi female participation in international sports events, according to the English language Arab News daily. But Sheik Saud al-Funiasan claimed in comments on a Saudi website that women in equestrian events are defiant public violators of Islamic law. Authorities must prevent that. Only an impertinent ... would accept or praise such an act, said al-Funiasan, according to the Ijaz website. Mystery surrounds NKorean leader's trip to China By DAVID WIVELL, Associated Press Writer - AUG 26,10

CHANGCHUN, China – Mystery surrounded North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il on his strangely timed visit to China while former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was in North Korea winning the release of an imprisoned American.Kim's Thursday trip to China was his second in three months — unusual for a man who never flies and travels only by armored train. It has not been announced by either country. That has led to speculation by South Korean media and regional analysts that he may be seeking Chinese aid following flooding in his impoverished country's northwest — and could be laying the diplomatic ground work for the succession of his son, who is thought to be traveling with him.A convoy of 30 cars left the northeastern city of Jilin on Friday morning where Kim apparently spent the night, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported, and was seen entering a government guesthouse in Changchun, an hour's drive away. The highway between the cities was blocked briefly and an increase in security was seen around the guesthouse.Meanwhile, Carter left North Korea on Friday, according to Carter Center spokeswoman Deanna Congileo. She said the elder statesman secured the release of 31-year-old Aijalon Gomes, an American sentenced to eight years of hard labor in a North Korean prison and fined some $700,000 for entering the country illegally.Carter, who is well-regarded in North Korea despite the two countries longtime animosity, met with Kim's father, late President Kim Il Sung, on his last trip to Pyongyang in 1994 — a warm meeting that led to a landmark nuclear disarmament deal.Kim's travels typically are not publicized by North Korea until after his return, although his stop in Jilin city was confirmed by two teachers at the Yuwen Middle School, a school Kim's father once attended that carries historic and patriotic significance for North Koreans.

Kim Il Sung attended the school from 1927 to 1930 after his family fled the Japanese occupation of Korea. Kim biographies say he began absorbing communist ideology while at Yuwen, making it pilgrimage site for North Koreans seeking to pay homage to the one-time anti-Japanese guerrilla fighter-turned-president.Such a visit just days before the 100th anniversary of Japan's colonization of Korea carries symbolic weight as well. North Korea tends to play up the Kim family's patriotism during succession campaigns.Kim Jong Il watchers will be eager to see television footage or photos of the 68-year-old leader to check his health. In video run by Chinese Central Television in May, Kim appeared thin but vigorous during meetings with China's President Hu Jintao and other officials, despite having reportedly suffered a stroke in 2008.It's widely believed that Kim is preparing to transfer power to his third and youngest son, Kim Jong Un, and many North Korea watchers predict the son will be appointed to a key party position at a rare ruling Workers' Party meeting early next month.Kim is at a crucial crossroads — whether to hold the party's conference as scheduled or delay it until after they've recovered from floods, said Cheong Seong-chang, a senior analyst at the Sejong Institute think tank outside Seoul. Kim desperately needs Chinese food aid to hold the party's conference as planned. The flooding earlier this month damaged or destroyed more than 7,000 homes, and wiped out bridges and railways, the North's official Korean Central News Agency reported Thursday. China has already offered aid to help North Korea cope, KCNA said.

The North faces chronic food shortages and has relied on outside aid to feed its people. Seeking to improve its meager economy, Pyongyang has experimented with limited market reforms and sought foreign investment, mostly from China and South Korea. But joint projects with South Korea have withered in the face of tensions, heightening Pyongyang's reliance on Beijing. For its part, China is certain to use Kim's visit as an opportunity to prod North Korea toward rejoining international talks aimed at nuclear disarmament.China has hosted the six-nation talks since 2002 but North Korea walked away from them last year in protest over the international condemnation that followed its testing of a long-range missile. Prospects for restarting negotiations were undermined further after a South Korean warship sank in March, killing 46 sailors. Seoul and Washington accuse North Korea of torpedoing the vessel, while the North denies involvement and has threatened harsh retaliation if punished. It is not known who Kim was to meet on this trip, although someone of his stature would likely meet a senior leader. The Tokyo Shimbun reported that Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping may meet Kim.Still, North Korea watchers puzzled over the timing of the visit — so soon after his last trip to China and during Carter's visit. He should be seeing Carter, but perhaps he has lost all hope in the U.S. said Cui Yingjiu, a retired professor of Korean language at Peking University in Beijing who was a schoolmate of Kim's in the 1960s and retains ties to the North Korean elite. U.S. officials have stressed that Carter's trip is an unofficial, private visit to negotiate the release of Gomes. However, such visits, like the journey by ex-President Bill Clinton a year ago to secure the release of two American journalists, also offer an opportunity for unofficial diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea. China Buys Euros as Fear of World Depression Grows
Webster G. Tarpley TARPLEY.net August 25, 2010

The US Treasury has just announced that China’s official holdings of U.S. Treasury securities declined by about $30 billion between April and May of this year, from about $900 billion to some $868 billion. According to the US authorities, this means that Chinese holdings of US government paper are now at the lowest level in the past year. A 2% to 3% decline in a month does not qualify as massive dumping, but simply means that China is in the process of diversification. It is also very likely that China has more U.S. Treasury bonds than this official count would indicate, quite possibly through proxy purchases via Hong Kong and other places. With the sales of existing homes in the United States falling by 27% this morning, together with disastrous statistics regarding unemployment and foreclosures, it ought to be obvious that the US economy is in depression. Even experts interviewed on CNBC are beginning to wake up to this obvious fact.

World Bond Bubble

On August 24, the Treasury’s two-year note reached its highest price in recorded history, meaning that the yield was at a record low. The entire world is piling into short-term U.S. Treasury paper, and many buyers cannot get enough. This makes a mockery out of the right wing reactionary refrain that the US equals Greece and soon will be unable to borrow. If, according to the crackpot Austrian theory, markets know things that individual humans cannot know, then surely the market is signaling a great desire for Treasury bills and Treasury notes at the short end. The main reason for this demand is of course fear and panic – coming from the growing awareness that the world is indeed experiencing the second wave of a world economic depression of colossal proportions. There is now a large-scale international bond bubble involving, among others, US treasuries and German Bunds. Since the flash crash of May 6, many investors have fled the stock markets entirely. It is still too soon to sound the alarm on deflation ahead, but deflation has now appeared over the horizon as a concrete possibility – partly because so many major financial players are now convinced that deflation is the wave of the future. If this were to come about, it would mean a depression looking much more like 1929-1933 than the relatively more mild situation we have experienced over the last two years. The depression may be taking a turn toward something far more excruciating for the masses of the population. One by-product of that would be vastly decreased popular gullibility for the anti-government recipes of the libertarian Austrian school, which are tailored for those who have money, and which have very little appeal to people who are unemployed, homeless, and starving.

Also on August 24, the Japanese yen hit a 15-year high compared to the dollar, and a nine-year high compared to the euro. This kind of currency championship is a Pyrrhic victory which nobody wants, since it means the Japanese exports are in the process of being strangled. This is true currency chaos and world depression at the same time, pointing once again towards the urgent need to restore the fixed rate system of Bretton Woods, which was destroyed 39 years ago this month by Nixon and Kissinger, urged on by Milton Friedman and other snake oil economists. For the past year, the main thrust of the London and New York financial centers has been the effort to export the Depression into Europe by means of a speculative attack on the government bonds of Greece, Spain, Portugal, and some other countries, all designed to provoke a panicked flight out of the euro, which would in turn allow the Anglo-Americans to loot and asset strip the accumulated wealth of the old continent. This was not a market event, but it orchestrated strategic attack, inspired by such figures as Soros, Einhorn, and Paulson. During July and the first half of August, it became apparent that this Blitzkrieg as originally planned had failed to reach its objectives. But the Anglo-Americans, one-trick ponies as always, maybe persisting in the assault.

China Blocks US-UK Attack On Euro

The Anglo-American hedge fund attack, as we have documented here, employed credit default swaps as the primary weapon against Greek, Portuguese, and Spanish government bonds. The failure of London and New York to induce a panic flight out of the euro during the May-June timeframe was partly results of the German self-defense measures, involving bans on naked credit default swaps and bans on naked shorting of German equities. In addition to this, Chinese support for the euro has played a decisive role. There is every indication that the Chinese made a decision not to allow the destruction of the euro during the late spring and early summer. That decision was technical, commercial, and political at the same time. The technical part was the China sought to re-balance the basket of currencies it uses to maintain the international stability of the renminbi. As the euro looms larger in Chinese trade, purchases of euros and Eurobonds are in order. It is also worth pointing out that the Chinese have not delivered on their promise to radically raise the international value of the renminbi, as hysterically demanded by Tiny Tim Geithner and others. The commercial and political sides of Chinese support for the euro were reflected in the June visit of the Chinese vice prime minister to Greece, notably to the port of Piraeus. This Chinese envoy signed more than a dozen important economic cooperation deals, including shipping and shipbuilding, telecom, and container ports. The deputy Greek finance minister, Theodoros Pangalos, was quoted as saying: The Chinese want a gateway into Europe. They are not like these Wall Street [blankety-blanks], pushing financial investments on paper. The Chinese deal in real things, in merchandise. And they will help the real economy in Greece.1 The emphasis on the production of tangible physical commodities by the Chinese, in contrast to Wall Street’s reliance on a mass of toxic and kited derivatives, points to the real basis of Chinese economic ascendancy. If the Chinese are wise, they will not go overboard with short-term greed, but rather be ready for generous concessions to the Greek labor movement, so as to get the unions on their side. In any case, these euro-denominated Greek purchases are one obvious reason why Beijing is holding fewer greenbacks and more euros.

Will Hungary, Ireland, or Budget Austerity Sink The Euro?

The Anglo Americans are still beside themselves with rage and consternation over the fact that their original attack on the euro has not worked. But since about the middle of August, the euro has fallen from over $1.30 to about $1.26 or thereabouts. Part of this is due to the decline of the New York Stock market, given the long-standing dollar-Dow trade-off. Another negative factor for the euro is doubtless the cruel and stupid deflationary policies introduced by many EU governments in a craven attempt to ward off further speculative attacks. In a depression, government spending is the main thing that supports the entire economy, so cutting the government budget is a recipe for economic disaster, as some EU countries are now being reminded. Another factor is simply the month of August, when Catholic Europe, including France, Italy, Spain, and Bavaria, tends to shut down.

Where Will The Next Panic Break Out?

The world is now in a time of mixed signals and cross-currents. The forces of depression, in the form of $1.5 quadrillion of toxic and kited derivatives, are most emphatically still lurking, and since they have not been shredded, canceled, deleted, outlawed or abrogated, they will soon find a way to explode once again. Serious financial observers are now waiting to see where the next currency or banking panic will come. Over the last day or two, there have been reports of heavy selling of the Hungarian forint, which is inside the EU but not part of Euroland. Late on August 24, Standard & Poor’s announced a major downgrade of Irish debt, switching to a negative outlook. If the panic comes in Hungary or Ireland, then the euro could indeed go down. CNBC traders, in response to the question of how to make money off the crisis of the Hungarian currency, immediately replied that the way to do that was to short the stocks of Austrian banks, who hold much Hungarian debt. From here, the crisis would move on to Germany, and soon the entire continent would be back in the soup. The British pound sterling also has massive vulnerabilities to being the next monetary unit to crash. But the most likely victim remains Wall Street itself. A glance at the stock chart of Bank of America over the past three months shows what any technical analyst would regard as a very ugly picture. There are rumblings that Citibank may be heading towards liquidity trouble in September and October. For those who like to read the tea leaves, CNBC’s Jim Cramer today responded to a question about Citigroup by emphatically declaiming Stick with Citi, and Stick with Pandit. Citigroup, he affirmed, remained his favorite speculation. For contrarians who have learned something over the past two years, this may already be enough to head for the hills. In any case, if the banking panic breaks out in New York, then the dollar may turn out to be the victim.

Bernanke and QE2

Today also brought the publication of the August 10 minutes of the Federal Reserve’s Open Market Committee. These minutes reveal a serious split in the management committee of the US financier oligarchy. Bernanke and his majority are afraid of deflation, and want a new round of quantitative easing – already dubbed QE2 by the Street. But there is also a significant Austro-monetarist reactionary minority who regard inflation as the greater evil, and to whom a deflationary crash would not be unwelcome, as libertarian rantings over many decades have made plain. These tensions may well be on display at the Federal Reserve’s annual conference at Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the end of this week.Another CNBC analyst has ventured to predict a ragged decline of the Dow to about 5,000 over the months ahead. If that begins to happen, then the danger of deflation will be enhanced, and in such a scenario the dollar would actually tend to increase in value compared to other currencies. On the other hand, Helicopter Ben Bernanke’s trademark is his strategy for flooding the system with bailouts and other liquidity if deflation looms. Bernanke is the captain of that ship of fools known as the QE2. The one certainty is that there is no recovery, and that the second wave of a world economic depression dominates the world.
