More information has emerged about Google’s relationship with the government and spook agencies (see PR Newswire below). The revelations should come as no surprise.
CIA-NSA connected Google has been collecting more than streetviews in your neighborhood.In 2006, Robert David Steele, a 20-year Marine Corps infantry and intelligence officer and a former clandestine services case officer with the CIA, told the Alex Jones Show that the CIA helped bankroll Google at its inception. I think Google took money from the CIA when it was poor and it was starting up and unfortunately our system right now floods money into spying and other illegal and largely unethical activities, and it doesn’t fund what I call the open source world, said Steele, citing trusted individuals as his sources.Google is a key intelligence asset. It has supplied the core search technology for Intellipedia, a highly-secured online CIA system and has shared a close relationship with both the CIA, NSA, and government national security officials.In February, it was reported that Google and the NSA have forged a partnership after Google purportedly suffered a cyberattack in December. This is not the first time the NSA has been tapped to help a U.S. corporation with cyber security, but the purported partnership would certainly be unique since Google’s servers house such a vast collection of user data including search histories, email, and personal documents,reports PC World.Google’s connection with the CIA and its venture capital firm extends to sharing at least one key member of personnel. In 2004, the Director of Technology Assessment at In-Q-Tel, Rob Painter, moved from his old job directly serving the CIA to become ‘Senior Federal Manager’ at Google.,writes Eric Sommer.

In-Q-Tel, a venture capital firm established by the CIA, also had a hand in creating the wildly popular social network Facebook. The second round of funding into Facebook ($US12.7 million) came from venture capital firm Accel Partners. Its manager James Breyer was formerly chairman of the National Venture Capital Association, and served on the board with Gilman Louie, CEO of In-Q-Tel, writes Matt Greenop.Thus it should not be shocking that Google executives are holding meetings with U.S. national security officials for undisclosed reasons, according to the Washington Post, itself a prized CIA asset under the venerable Operation Mockingbird media asset program.Google insists its vacuuming up of WiFi network data as it gathered images for its Streetview program was a mistake, even though information published Jan. 28 shows that the data collection program was a very deliberate effort to assemble as much information as possible about U.S. residential and business WiFi networks,according to the press release below.

Simpson wrote:
Based on today’s Washington Post, it appears that Google holds classified U.S. government contracts to supply search and geospatial information to the U.S. government. In addition, White House records show that Google executives have been holding meetings with U.S. national security officials for undisclosed reasons. Finally, it also appears that Google’s widely criticized efforts to collect wireless network data on American citizens were not inadvertent, contrary to the company’s claims.As history has repeatedly shown, alliances between the U.S. intelligence community and giant corporations that collect data on American citizens can be a toxic combination where the U.S. Constitution is concerned,the letter said.In a June 9 letter to the Energy and Commerce Committee, Google director for public policy Pablo Chavez asserted that Google mistakenly included code in our software that collected samples of payload data from private WiFi networks. But review of a patent application from Google covering the gathering of WiFi data published Jan. 28 shows that the data collection program was a very deliberate effort to assemble as much information as possible about U.S. residential and business WiFi networks.

The letter continued:…what the patent does show is that Google’s recent claims about how the Street View program was designed are not accurate, and that the company always intended to collect and store the packets of wireless data that contain so-called payload information. The patent makes repeated reference to capturing packets, including paragraph [0055], which states that the system will enable geolocations so long as the equipment being used is able to capture and properly decode a packet…This raises serious questions about whether Google has engaged in a reckless effort to amass private data without giving any thought to the possible misuse of that information, and whether it can be trusted to safeguard the information it collects from the prying eyes of the U.S. government.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Brussels is to hold an EU summit with atheists and freemasons in the autumn, inviting them to a political dialogue parallel to the annual summit the bloc holds with Europe's religious leaders.While the EU is a secular body, the three European presidents, of the commission, parliament and EU Council, alongside two commissioners, on Monday met with 24 bishops, chief rabbis, and muftis as well as leaders from the Hindu and Sikh communities. The annual dialogue, which has taken place since 2005, is for the first time this year made legally obligatory under Article 17 of the Lisbon Treaty.Under pressure from Belgium, which constitutionally protects and financially supports humanist organisations as well as churches, the EU has been forced to hold a mirror-image summit, but of atheists, scheduled for 15 October.However, in a move that perplexed and annoyed humanist groups, the EU atheist summit will also welcome under the rubric of non-religious groups, the Freemasons, the secretive fraternal organisation, according to commission spokeswoman Katharina von Schnurbein.I find it rather odd, David Pollock, president of the European Humanist Federation, told EUobserver. Some of the Grand Lodges are secularist organisations, and strongly for separation of church and state, but they also retain all sorts of gobbledygook and myths such as the Great Architect of the Universe.

Emerging in the late 16th century in England and subsequently spread throughout the world, the Freemasons split in 1877 between the English-speaking lodges and their continental counterparts over the question of god. Instead we're being bundled off with the Freemasons.According to the commission's Ms von Schnurbein, Brussels views the Freemasons as a community of conscience interconnected throughout Europe,and a form of humanist organisation.She dismissed concerns that while churches and atheist groups are free for anyone to join, membership in the Freemasons, a private organisation of men, with some separate Grand Lodges for women, is by invitation only and requires initiation fees and an annual subscription.The EUobserver attempted to speak with the United Grand Lodge of England, the oldest Grand Lodge of masons in the world, regarding this development but without success.Meanwhile, the Catholic Church has had its nose put out at the annual EU summit with religious leaders by the presence for the first time this year of Hindus and Sikhs.

According to La Croix, the French Roman Catholic daily, the church, happy to embrace an ecumenism of the great monotheistic faiths at the EU level, fears that the enlargement of the meeting to include such groups beyond those more anchored across the whole of the continent,suggests the EU is being religiously correct. According to a spokesman for President Van Rompuy, next year the meeting could include a Buddhist.Beyond the annual summit, religious leaders interpret Article 17, which commits the EU to holding an open, transparent and regular dialogue with… churches and non-confessional and philosophical organisations, as meaning regular meetings with senior civil servants, not just on grand themes such as Monday's topic of the battle against poverty, but on more concrete legislative measures dealing with climate change, education, immigration, social services and labour laws.In the future, they hope to have similar relations with EU agencies, notably the Fundamental Rights Agency, as well as with the bloc's new diplomatic corps, the External Action Service.

We should not be surprised about his remark when asked about AIG’s 100 cents on the dollar, that the honoring of contracts is a way to look at the bonuses paid - for merit (not to be confused with undue risk)To Altman, AIG payments were history – no sense bringing that up now, it’s over.We shouldn’t bat an eye when reminded of his support of Senator Obama as presidential candidate that he had no doubt would win the presidency.And should we ask whether he supported the banker bailout, Hank Paulson’s job, the integrity of the cautious Goldman Sachs - please, really? – Do we need go there? The important thing to know is that Roger Altman is a Bilderberger. He attended 2010 in Spain as Chairman of his boutique bank, Evercore. His specialty – mergers, acquisitions, advising on public pension plans, and he has a real interest as a company in attracting chinese investment in the mature economies. Yes, that would be America and the fire sale that would make it a great buy for chinese sovereign funds looking for a good bet.Can you see the danger when a Bilderberger is trusted with advising on public pension funds? Bilderberg might be very interested in having China get hooked on investment in American companies failing for a variety of reasons. An important one, is it would assist in the goal to drive wages down, chinese- style. It would also open up China’s trust to the western world. Perhaps the banksters could work their magic on the hardworking and underpaid in China, and turn them into the lazy, and more decadent society we have come to live in. Perhaps then, when the Chinese are not on guard, the bankers could work their plan of domination and control. They certainly need to crack the shell, and get a foot in the door.

Hungary's forint, stock market fall

Hungary's currency fell sharply against the euro on Monday following the collapse of talks between Budapest and the International Monetary Fund and the EU over the country's deficit situation.The forint drooped 3.2 percent against the euro to 291.38 forints after the EU and IMF called off their review of Budapest's €20 billion bail-out, originally agreed in 2008 over the weekend, frustrated with the government's push for more spending leeway.Further endangering market confidence, the country's economy minister, Gyorgy Matolcsy, said on Hungarian television that tightening the country's austerity programme was out of the question if Hungary was to return to economic growth.More remains to be done to cement these gains and put Hungary on a strong and sustainable growth path,the IMF said on the weekend. Additional measures will need to be taken to achieve these objectives.Mr Matolcsy suggested talks with Brussels and Washington could resume in the Autumn.On Monday, commission spokesman Ton van Lierop told reporters that there were no direct, imminent consequences for Hungary at this stage.The country's centre-right leader Victor Orban had promising a lightening of the draconian austerity measures imposed by his Socialist predecessors, which had cut the country's deficit from 9.3 percent of GDP in 2006 to 3.8 percent two years later .

After the elections however, Mr Oban said that the country's economic and fiscal situation was much worse than the previous government's pronouncements had suggested and announced that he would indeed have to impose stringent austerity measures of his own.However, with an eye over their shoulder at the far-right Jobbik party's growing popularity, the prime minister's Fidesz party is politically constrained in terms of how much austerity can be implemented without a collapse in the party's support, as happened to the Socialists after their own austerity programme was announced.The government wants the EU-IMF to cut it some slack for 2011 spending after agreeing to tighten its belt this year.But the commission and the IMF feel this to be inadequate.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – With new institutions and powers granted by the Lisbon Treaty, the EU is looking to reset its relations with Switzerland, currently governed by 120-odd agreements covering everything from wrist watches to borderless travelling.We examined the state of our bilateral relations ... and looked at how to renew them in the future, based on sound legal and political foundations, EU council president Herman Van Rompuy said at a joint press conference with the Swiss president, Doris Leuthard.Mr Van Rompuy said the reset had to be based on Bern accepting the evolution of EU law, in contrast to the current situation, when nothing is adopted automatically by the Swiss side.The EU position is that this is not the way to continue. With 120 bilateral agreements in place, imagine the whole bureaucracy when you need to change one paragraph, one EU official familiar with the talks told this website.Some 60 working groups on specific issues covered by these agreements – ranging from the wrist watch industry to transport, border control and fight against fraud – currently meet twice a year, separately and with little exchange amongst each other. Ms Leuthard, switching from English into German and French, said that Switzerland too recognises the need to simplify the complex architecture of bilateral agreements. She stressed, however, that the new legal basis had to be clean, but in respect of our sovereignty.One offer made to the Swiss is a European Economic Area Lite, alluding to the current agreement with Norway, also a non-EU member who is fully integrated into the bloc's internal market and border-free Schengen area, but who unlike Bern automatically adopts any change to the EU laws.

Yet in a country where direct democracy is so deeply rooted that almost every decision is taken by referendum, the idea to adopt such legal automatism is unacceptable.Swiss voters already rejected in 1992 the country's accession to the EEA, precisely out of fear of losing sovereignty to Brussels, which is often criticised for its democratic deficit.Switzerland is against adopting EU laws automatically, using the argument that it is a sovereign country. But the EU says that as long as we are part of the internal market, we have to play by the book, Jean Russotto, a Brussels-based Swiss lawyer specialised in EU law and regulatory compliance told Euobserver.Another taboo subject for the Swiss public is the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice, which has the ultimate say if a country infringes EU law. If Switzerland adopted the legislation automatically, it could, in theory be taken to the Luxembourg court by the European Commission in cases of non-compliance.This would be a problem, says Mr Russotto.The no-vote in 1992 was strongly influenced by the perspective of foreign judges having a say in the country. The situation has not changed very much since, although we've adopted a lot of EU aquis (legislation), but it was done by our own parliament, not automatically.A compromise solution could be found, however, as it is the case for Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland – which form the EEA. In their case, there is a special court based in Luxembourg and confusingly named the EFTA court after the European Free Trade Agreement which also includes Switzerland. The EFTA court, however, has no jurisdiction over the Alpine country. In an odd twist, the chief judge of the EFTA court, Carl Baudenbacher, is Swiss, but representing Liechtenstein.

Parliament

On top of the existing differences over a potential over-arching agreement, a new actor on the EU side is likely to complicate negotiations: the European Parliament.
Following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, the EU legislature has the power to strike down any international agreements negotiated by the EU commission.It already put EU-US relations on freeze for while when it vetoed a deal on bank data transfers for anti-terrorism purposes, citing privacy concerns.We want to deepen our relationship with the European Parliament, Ms Leuthard said.It is very important to involve parliaments, because they decide ultimately on the agreements and their content,she added.

Brussels wants US-style Miranda rights across Europe

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - We have all watched American police or legal dramas - whether in the original version or dubbed or subtitled - and we are all familiar with and could probably recite the warning a police officer gives to a suspect as he is being handcuffed. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law, the cop says to the villain. You have the right to speak to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you. Do you understand these rights as they have been read to you? Now here in Europe, we may soon have a similar, but pan-European, practice.On Tuesday, the European Commission proposed that a common warning about an equivalent set of rights, but in written form in equally simple language - and in the suspect's own tongue - be adopted across Europe.These words we are so familiar with from American television are Miranda Rights, or, more correctly, a Miranda warning, after the court ruling that established the practice. Police are required to repeat them to suspects in custody in order to inform them of their constitutional rights before criminal proceedings can begin.But in Europe, with 27 countries, different legal systems and multitude of languages, the situation is more complicated and the commission is worried that this could lead to miscarriages of justice - and also result in unnecessary and expensive appeals.[Imagine] a German tourist gets arrested after a bar brawl in Italy. He does not speak the language. As a result, he does not understand why he is being held and what the charge is,the commission said in its statement announcing the new proposal.

In some member states, suspects only receive spoken information about their procedural rights, while elsewhere individuals are given written documents, but in complex legal language - and sometimes not unless explicitly demanded.Individuals cannot fully exercise their defence rights unless they know what they are. Knowing what your rights are and what you are accused of is crucial for a fair trial,said fundamental rights commissioner Viviane Reding. Dealing with the law can be an intimidating process and we cannot expect people to demand respect from the authorities for their procedural rights when they don't know what those rights are.In response, the commission is proposing that anyone arrested anywhere in the EU from now on should be immediately informed in writing with a Letter of Rights listing their basic rights during criminal proceedings in simple, everyday language. It will be given to suspects upon arrest in all cases, whether asked for or not, and must be translated if necessary.Such letters do exist in some EU countries already - a total of 12, with Germany and the Netherlands introducing such a system earlier this year. But Brussels wants this extended across Europe. Countries will be free to choose their own wording, but the commission has also offered a model of the kind of thing they would like to see in 22 languages.It makes good TV, but it also serves a very serious purpose: it gives people a chance to know and assert their rights. It gives them confidence that justice will be served, wherever they are in Europe, said the commissioner.The commission first proposed such a letter of rights in 2004, but the proposal stalled as part of a broader package of reforms that met with resistance from the member states.

However, in November last year, they asked the commission to come up with a new package of measures assuring suspects of their rights in criminal proceedings, but in a step-by-step fashion over the next few years, to allow for a greater likelihood that they would be approved and also to build up mutual trust between national justice authorities, still quite suspicious of each other's legal systems and traditions.The EU Miranda Letter is actually the second such proposed measure in this overall package. The first, given political backing by the member states and the European Parliament in March, gives suspects the right to translation and interpretation.This move too must yet be approved by EU countries and the parliament.
Next year, the commission will propose a law giving individuals a right to a lawyer and another offering the right to speak with relatives, employers and their embassy.
It sounds like a TV police drama, but soon it will be reality throughout the European Union,the commission said.

EU leaders dodge Islamic veil ban issue

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - EU leaders have declined to comment on moves to ban Islamic veils in some member states, saying that the controversial issue is one for national governments alone to handle.Flanked by religious leaders from the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths, as well as representatives from the Sikh and Hindu communities on Monday (19 July), European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso and president of the European Council Herman van Rompuy both dodged a question asking for their views on the matter.This is not a European Union competence ... so as president of the commission I will not take a position on this issue, said Mr Barroso. Taking refuge in the legal reading of EU treaties, he said we believe it is a national competence.

Mr Van Rompuy simply added same answer.Their reticence - at a meeting to discuss tackling poverty with religious representatives - comes despite the fact that the potential bans have raised burning questions about the interplay between religious freedom, individual rights and possible wider societal demands in Europe.The lower houses in Belgium and France recently voted to ban the wearing of the full face veil such as the burqa or niqab in public while the Spain's parliament discussed the issue on Monday. Grounds cited for the ban include degradation of women and security reasons. Opponents of the move point out that only tiny percentages of Muslim women wear such veils and that banning them risks isolating the women concerned and fuelling anger within the Muslim community. The veil debate comes despite the fact that a broader debate on better integrating Muslims into educational, political and cultural life in Europe is largely left untouched. The divide is highlighted by Turkey's aspirations to join the EU. Its bid is foundering on, amongst other things, the fact that it is a predominantly Muslim country.Mr Barroso and Mr Van Rompuy were more forthcoming on the topic of the day - the fight against poverty and social exclusion - which they discussed with around 20 religious representatives.The commission president noted that over 80 million Europeans were at risk of poverty.Unemployment is the best tool to fight poverty but we must go beyond that, he added.Both he and Mr Van Rompuy pointed to the years of experience that churches and religions have in caring for those at the margins of society, now even more threatened by the extent of the economic downturn in the Europe.Mr Van Rompuy suggested that the financial crisis implies a deeper crisis of values and said that ensuring that the Union remains based on values is its added value in the world.

Although Mr Barroso instigated a religious dialogue in 2005 and it is now a legal requirement under the EU's new Lisbon Treaty, in place since December, it is unclear what concrete effects such meetings will have.Taking care to emphasize the poverty reduction element of the EU's new ten-year economic plan, Mr Barroso noted that is is not up to the EU institutions to give subsidies to religious organisations but to take on board some ideas where possible. Cardinal Erdö, President of CCEE (Council of European Bishops Conferences) said that the clause in the Lisbon Treaty promising open, transparent and regular dialogue with religious organisations had not yet been fully implemented.Jerzy Buzek, head of the European Parliament, noted that he would be meeting Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox leaders at the end of September to discuss how to make best use of the treaty article.The original version of this article mistakenly attributed the quote about the Lisbon Treaty's Article 17 on religious dialogue not yet being fully implemented to the President of the Commission of the Bishops' Conference of the European Community, Monsignor Adrianus van Luyn. Half the Public Wants to See Holy Temple Rebuilt

Half the Israeli public wants the Holy Temple (Beit HaMikdash) to be rebuilt. This is the main finding of a poll commissioned by the Knesset Television Channel and carried out by the Panels Institute. The poll was taken in advance of this Tuesday’s national day of mourning, known as Tisha B’Av, on which the two Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed, 2,000 and 2,500 years ago, respectively.Forty nine percent said they want the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, while 23% said they do not. The remainder said they were unsure.The public is about evenly split on whether they believe it will happen, with a slight edge – 42% to 39% – to those who believe the Third Holy Temple will be rebuilt.Should the State of Israel take active steps towards the reconstruction? Forty-eight percent said no, while 27% said yes.The complete results of the poll will be broadcast on Channel 99, the Knesset channel, on Monday night at 9:30 P.M., right after the traditional evening prayers and mournful recitation of the Book of Lamentations in synagogues throughout the country.

Given the current political climate, the onset of construction of the Beit HaMikdash, and possibly even a poll on the subject, is not likely to go over quietly in the Islamic world, which currently has day-to-day control over the Temple Mount. A mere visit to the holy site in the year 2,000 by then-Opposition Leader Ariel Sharon is blamed by Arabs for having sparked the Oslo War, a terrorist onslaught that claimed nearly 1,000 Israeli lives in just over four years – although in truth, the war was planned by leading Palestinian Authority figures for months beforehand.

Tisha B'Av Lamentations at Abandoned IDF Base of Adorayim

Dozens of Jews gathered Tuesday morning at the abandoned IDF base of Adorayim near Hevron, to recite lamentations and read from the Scroll of Eicha. The event is part of an ongoing effort to save the base from falling into hostile hands.The participants came from Jerusalem and other nearby communities including the Gush Etzion settlements, Kiryat-Arba, Hevron, Beit Haggai, Otniel and Negohot.Rabbi Reuven Tal, Chairman of the Religious Council of Har Hevron, recited the lamentations in a quiet, pained voice, and the public joined in.Rabbi Yehudah Glick, a leading activist for Jewish ascension to the Temple Mount, gave a lesson on the lack of wholeness in Jewish people's lives due to the absence of the Temple. The rabbi said that the taste of fruit nowadays is not like the taste fruit had in the Temple, and that the sky is not as blue as it was in Temple times. The foundation of the world, he said, was laid at the location of the Temple, and we are all connected to this womb, and through it to G-d. Interestingly, Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni used similar terminology in her reference to the Temple Mount Monday.

Rabbi Glick said that those who teach that the Temple will come down from the sky in one piece teach lies.The Temple will not come down from the sky, he said. Livni: Umbilical Cord Connected to the Temple Mount

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni lamented the lack of clarity surrounding the definition of the Jewish identity of the State of Israel Monday night at an event marking the fast of Tisha B'Av. The conference, which was held in Tel Aviv for the 12th year in a row, was entitled, Tonight We Do Not Learn Torah. Except for passages of sadness or warnings of punishment for Torah violations, Torah is not studied on the day of mourning for the destruction of the Holy Temples as its study causes happiness.The Kadima party chairwoman noted that one does not have to choose between intense secularism and extreme hareidi-religious observance. There is a large middle ground, and a very large public out there that is not necessarily observant but nevertheless has a Jewish connection, one that is wider than you are told about, and means more than what is written on identity cards. It is not connected to the hareidi religious Jews, it has nothing to do with them; it's about us, we who are not extremists. It's not a favor to anyone else.She added that the religious Zionist political parties do not work on a common denominator for all of us because of poitical power struggles and a terrible system of government that gives too much power to hareidi-religious parties. There are payments that give a monopoly on Jewish content to political parties that pull in their direction and theirs alone, and everyone pays the price,Livni said. The conversion law is one recent instance of that – where not relating to the common denominator is causing us to lose it.

She argued that it is time to set the parameters that define a Jewish state.It is clear what a democratic state is,she said, but less clear to everyone exactly what a Jewish state is. We are very close to the point at which we will no longer be able to do that,Livni warned. It would not be good if we split into separate societies, each of which does whatever it pleases on traditional occasions – Israel would lose her Jewish character, both nationally and religiously in the process.Livni also discussed her connection to Jerusalem, saying I live in Tel Aviv, but my umbilical cord indeed is connected to the Temple Mount, both from a personal perspective, and in my national, public life as well. The feeling of belonging to Jerusalem is not necessarily related to observance of the mitzvot (commandments), she added, although I regret it is weakening with the passage of time. The way to reconnect, Livni said, is through Jewish continuity on the national, and not the religious level.
Jerusalem must be returned to the younger generation, she said. Jerusalem is in difficulties and needs treatment. There is a need to educate the younger generation all over the country to feel a connection to Jerusalem. This is 100 percent effective.A blog by a National Socialist states that on Sunday, Ready’s group caught four aliens in what the blogger said was just another day.Local police are not happy about the presence of the vigilantes, whose arms are legal. I'm not inviting them. And in fact, I'd rather they not come,said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. Especially those who espouse hatred or bigotry such as [Ready].

The Anti-Defamation League also is worried. Its Arizona regional director Bill Straus told Phoenix New Times blogger Stephen Lemons, The ADL's concerned when any group that's not trained sufficiently or untrained takes it upon themselves to enforce the law. When it's J.T. Ready, National Socialists, neo-Nazis that take [on] that responsibility, the concern turns to fear. Hosting Company Says al-Qaeda Website Reason for Removing 73,000 Blogs

It was not copyright violations that prompted the hosting service Burst.net to pull more than 73,000 blogs offline earlier this month. It was al-Qaeda, the phony terror group created by the CIA.FBI Director Robert Mueller told a House Appropriations subcommittee in March that radical Islamist websites pose a threat to the United States.The site was shut down after FBI agents informed executives of Burst.net, Blogetery’s Web host, late on July 9 that links to al-Qaeda materials were found on Blogetery’s servers, Joe Marr, chief technology officer for Burst.net, told CNET. Sources close to the investigation say that included in those materials were the names of American citizens targeted for assassination by al-Qaeda. Messages from Osama bin Laden and other leaders of the terrorist organization, as well as bomb-making tips, were also allegedly found on the server.The FBI did not order Burst.net to pull the plug. Marr said a Burst.net employee erred in telling Blogetery’s operator and members of the media that the FBI had ordered it to terminate Blogetery’s service. He said Burst.net did that on its own, according to CNET.

Another site was taken down following the shuttering of Blogetery. Ipbfree.com, a platform for message boards, was removed within days of Blogetery. So far there is no explanation why Ipbfree.com was denied service.Many speculated that the FBI was using the Patriot Act to silence bloggers. But Marr emphasized that the FBI has never ordered Burst.net to stop service to any site it hosts without a court order and that the vast majority of Burst.net’s communication with the federal government has involved agents serving warrants related to terrorist or child porn investigations, CNET continues.Marr said the blogging platform was yanked because because bomb-making tips and a hit list are a violation of Burst.net’s terms of service.The FBI, however, did invoke 18 USC 2702, a portion of federal law that allows providers to voluntarily disclose information to police. Under the law the FBI has the right to ask that a service provider to turn over information immediately — without a court order — when the agency has reason to believe that lives may be threatened. The request also compels an ISP not to discuss the investigation, according to CNET.CNET reports that a source with knowledge of the investigation said material allegedly found on Blogetery’s server is connected to an online magazine called Inspire that supposedly recruits al-Qaeda patsies. The online magazine is reportedly edited by Samir Khan, a 24-year-old North Carolina man who moved to Yemen last October. Fox News reported that an article posted on the site was entitled Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.

The phrase al-Qaeda(the Base) was originally a computer file containing information on thousands of Mujahideen fighters who were recruited and trained by the CIA and Pakistan’s ISI with funding and support from Saudi Arabia, according to the late British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook.In 2008, the BBC aired a documentary, The Power of Nightmares,featuring top CIA officials admitting that al-Qaeda is a fabrication designed to frightened the public into supporting a bogus global war on manufactured terror.A number of purported al-Qaeda websites are hosted in the United States. Phoenix-based CrystalTech Web Hosting Inc. removed a popular forum for Islamic terrorists and their sympathizers in 2008, according to the Arizona Republic. Another Islamic terrorist website, alneda.com, was hosted by a company in Maryland that tracked back to Texas.In April of 2009, the Washington Post published an article reporting the Taliban had boasted about killing coalition forces in Afghanistan from a website hosted by ThePlanet in Houston, Texas. For more than a year, the militant group used the site to rally its followers and keep a running tally of suicide bombings, rocket attacks and raids against U.S. and allied troops, the newspaper reported.The United States encouraged Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to support the Taliban and provided support through the CIA and Pakistan’s ISI.A Department of Homeland Security document leaked to the alternative media last year reveals that the government considers patriot groups, returning veterans, and militia groups to be the primary terrorist threat within the United States.
