IAF Hits 15 Hamas Targets in Gaza-IAF launches airstrikes against 15 terror sites in Gaza, a response to the latest escalation in rocket attacks.-By Elad Benari-First Publish: 7/3/2014, 3:43 AM-IsraelNationalNews

Israel Air Force (IAF) aircraft targeted 15 terror sites in Gaza on Wednesday night.According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the airstrikes targeted concealed rocket launchers, training compounds and weapons storage sites, all of which belong to the Hamas terrorist group. The statement said that the airstrikes were in retaliation for the latest escalation in rocket attacks on southern Israel."The IDF is prepared to defend the citizens of Israel from any threat and will continue to act decisively and as long as necessary until peace is restored,” said the IDF, noting that Hamas is directly responsible for the ongoing rocket fire.A barrage of at least 20 rockets  were fired at southern Israel on Wednesday, and three more were fired on Wednesday night. In the last attack, shortly before 1:00 a.m., one rocket exploded near a home in the city of Sderot and caused it minor damages. The rocket hit a local power line and caused blackouts in parts of the city, but there were no reports of physical injuries. Two other rockets exploded in open areas in the Shaar Hanegev region. There were no physical injuries or damages.A continuous rain of rockets have been fired on Israel this week.15 rockets were fired over Sunday night and Monday morning from Gaza, prompting Israeli security forces to announce that Hamas was directly behind the rocket fire - the first official announcement since the end of the counter-terror Operation Pillar of Defense in November 2012. Last week, several rockets caused a massive fire at a plastics factory in Sderot. Four workers managed to escape the factories before they were set ablaze.

Islamic Jihad: 'Settlers' Are Legitimate Targets-Islamic Jihad says “settlers” are a “legitimate target” for “the resistance”, blames Israel for Arab teen's death.By Elad Benari-First Publish: 7/3/2014, 6:13 AM-IsraelNationalNews

The Islamic Jihad terrorist group said on Wednesday that “settlers” were a “legitimate target” for “the resistance”, the Ma’an news agency reported. In a statement, Islamic Jihad held Israeli authorities and the army responsible for what it said were “continuous attacks on Palestinians, their lands and religious sites.”The statement condemned the “crime” of the murder of Mohammed Abu Khdeir, which the group blamed on Israel and said was “a continuation of a series of crimes by the Israeli army and settlers.”The burnt body of 16-year-old Abu Khdeir was found in the Jerusalem Forest area on Wednesday morning. While there is speculation that he was murdered by Jews as a possible act of revenge after the kidnapping murder of three Jewish teens, there are also reports that the abduction was carried out by Arabs and that the murder was an "honor killing" or another kind of criminal murder.Earlier on Wednesday, Hamas vowed that Israel "will pay" for the murder of the Arab teen."We send our message to the Zionist entity and its leaders, which hold direct responsibility (for the murder), that our people will not let this crime pass, nor all the killings and destruction by your settlers," the Islamist movement said. "You will pay the price for these crimes."Earlier Wednesday, senior Palestinian Authority officials were also quick to blame Israel, including Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas's official spokesman.

MKs Call on Netanyahu to Fire Livni, Begin War on Terror-Israeli leaders begin to express frustration at lack of deterrence against terrorism, amid rising tensions and unrest.By Tova Dvorin-First Publish: 7/2/2014, 8:02 PM-IsraelNationalNews
Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to fire Justice Minister Tzipi Livni (HaTnua) on Wednesday and proceed with a full-scale war on terror. "Netanyahu must dismiss Tzipi Livni and lead the Israeli government in a determined struggle against the real aggressor, Hamas," Danon declared. "Tzipi Livni, who still suffers from illusions of negotiations, directs the Cabinet with a defeatist attitude rather than a nationalist spirit determined to lead the fight against terrorism and their collaborators."Earlier Wednesday, MK Shaul Mofaz (Kadima) also criticized Netanyahu over the way he has handled the past several weeks."[Due to] Netanyahu's policy in recent years, Israel's deterrence has eroded," Mofaz fired. "The fact that the ISA [Shin Bet] foiled 44 kidnapping attempts in the past 18 months is very alarming." Mofaz, who served as IDF Chief of Staff during "Operation Defensive Shield" in 2002, stressed that "the abduction of boys is not just another terrorist attack.""This is a sign of serious problems with Israeli deterrence," he said. "Over the past 18 days, dozens of missiles have been fired at communities in the State of Israel."

"No other country would allow it."

Both comments surface after a tense day in Israel, which has seen eleven rockets fired into its borders in a 12-hour span and violent clashes with enraged Israeli Arabs in Jerusalem. Earlier this week, the bodies of abducted teens Naftali Frenkel (16), Gilad Sha'ar (16), and Eyal Yifrah (19) were found in a shallow grave near Halhul. The revelation ended Operation Brothers' Keeper, which saw over 400 Hamas terrorists deemed to be connected to the abduction arrested and several incitement-laced broadcasting stations closed - but many Israeli leaders have called for a significant act of deterrence to follow the murders. So far, no definitive action has been taken, save for the destruction of the family homes of the Hamas terrorists deemed responsible for the triple murders.

British Think Tank: Iraq's 'Russian' Jets May be from Iran-London-based think tank says 3 Sukhoi jets shown landing in Iraq are likely from Iran.By Arutz Sheva Staff-First Publish: 7/3/2014, 5:45 AM-IsraelNationalNews

Three Sukhoi ground attack jets shown landing in Iraq in a video released by the Defense Ministry are likely from Iran, a think tank said Wednesday, according to a report by the AFP news agency.Iraq has purchased more than a dozen Sukhoi jets from Russia to bolster its forces in their battle against a sweeping jihadist offensive that has overrun large areas of five provinces. The Defense Ministry said Tuesday a second group of five Sukhoi aircraft had arrived in the country, implicitly as part of the Russian deal. But the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) said its analysts believed the jets came from Iran.IISS said Iranian Su-25s were given “a narrow range of six-digit serial numbers” and that the two digits painted on the three planes shown in the video correspond to the final digits of Iranian serial numbers.IISS also posted side-by-side photos of one of the aircraft in the video and an Iranian Su-25, showing that the numbers and camouflage pattern are the same.“Attempts to conceal original operator markings are also apparent, with evidence of key positions being painted over,” the think tank said, according to AFP. Additionally, the three aircraft carried wing-mounted fuel tanks, indicating that they were flown in, while the first group of aircraft delivered under the Russian deal arrived disassembled in a cargo plane.Recent reports indicated that Iran had deployed Revolutionary Guards units to Iraq in order to fight Islamists from the ISIS.The Pentagon subsequently said that Iran has sent "small numbers" of operatives into Iraq, but there is no sign of a large deployment of army units.Iran’s Deputy Chief of Staff said several days ago that Tehran was willing to assist Iraq “should the Iraqi government, or the Iraqi people, feel that the current conditions necessitate it.”
