military sources report that units of the Russian forces which formed a
steel ring around the Olympic Winter Games that ended in Sochi
Sunday were flown and shipped Monday, Feb. 24 to Russian bases at the
Ukrainian Crimean port of Sevastopol, as Moscow refused to recognize the
legitimacy of the new authorities in Kiev.
Giant Russian Air Force transports and rapid deployment forces were
placed on alert at the Rostov on-Don base east of the predominantly
Russian-speaking southeastern Ukrainian town of Donetsk.Russian military movements were also sighted near Belgorod, a Russian
town 40 kilometers from the Ukraine border and north of its second
largest town of Kharkov. There, too, most of the inhabitants are Russian
speaking with a strong affinity to Moscow – in contrast to their
European-oriented compatriots in the capital, Kiev.These military movements were accompanied by sharp Russian rhetoric
in Moscow’s first direct response to the tumult in Kiev and ouster of
the pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych, against whom Kiev police
Monday issued a warrant for mass murder.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Monday: “Today I see no
legitimate Ukrainian partners for a dialogue. If people crossing Kyiv in
black masks and Kalashnikov rifles are considered a government, it will
be difficult for us to work with such a government," he said, calling
it “the result of a mutiny.”
The prime minister spoke of a “real threat to our interests, and to our citizens’ lives and health.”
With these comments, the Russian leader laid down a pretext for Russian
military intervention in Ukraine. It was Moscow’s response to the
warning issued by US National Security Adviser Susan Rice Sunday, Feb.
23, that “it would be a grave mistake for Russia to send military
force.”

ammunition worth $195m, according to documents seen by Reuters news
agency - a move that would break a UN embargo on weapons sales by Iran.The agreement was reached at the end of November, the documents
showed, just weeks after Nouri al-Maliki, Iraq's prime minister,
returned from Washington, where he lobbied the Obama administration for
extra weapons to fight armed rebels.The official documents seen by Reuters showed that six of eight
contracts were signed with Iran's Defence Industries Organisation to
supply Iraq with light and medium arms, mortar launchers, ammunition for
tanks as well as artillery and mortars.A final two contracts were agreed to with the state-owned Iran
Electronic Industries for night vision goggles, communications equipment
and mortar guiding devices.One of the contracts includes equipment to protect against chemical agents.The Obama administration pressed the Iraqi government on Monday to explain the media reports."We've certainly seen those reports. If true, this would raise serious concerns," Jen Psaki, State Department spokeswoman, said. She said that "any transfer of arms from Iran to a third country is in direct violation" of the UN embargo. "We are seeking clarification on this matter from the government of Iraq and to ensure that Iraqi officials understand the limits that international law places on arms trade with Iran," Psaki said.Some in Washington are nervous about providing sensitive US military equipment to a country they worry is becoming too close to Iran. Several Iraqi legislators said Maliki had made the deal because he was fed up with delays to US arms deliveries. Israel bombarded a Hezbollah
stronghold on the Lebanon-Syria border twice on Monday night, killing
several Hezbollah operatives, Lebanese and other Arab media reported.Lebanon’s Daily Star reported overnight
Monday that the strikes targeted a weapons shipment meant for Hezbollah.
Citing unconfirmed reports, Al Arabiya said the strikes were on a
moving convoy carrying ballistic missiles from Syria to Lebanon, to be
put to use by the Shi’ite organization.The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the target was a Hezbollah “missile base.”“Two Israeli raids hit a Hezbollah target on
the border of Lebanon and Syria,” a Lebanese security source told AFP
earlier Monday.Residents of Nabi Sheet, on the Lebanese side
of the border, told AFP they saw flare bombs light up the sky ahead of
the raids, which shook their houses.
However, Jaafar al-Musawi, head of Nabi Sheet
Municipality, told Lebanon’s Al-Jadeed TV there was no airstrike on the
town. “We heard warplanes followed by explosions, it could be along the
border with Syria,” he said.Residents in neighboring areas said they heard planes flying low before the raids.Late Monday, Lebanese media reported two
Israeli air raids on targets in the Bekaa Valley, a known Hezbollah
stronghold bordering Syria.A correspondent for the Lebanese state news
agency in Baalbek reported intensive Israeli flights “at very low
altitude” over the mountains.Nabi Sheet itself is a bastion of Hezbollah,
which is helping the Syrian regime battle insurgents. The Shi’ite group
has a suspected weapons store and training camp there.The Hezbollah television station Al-Manar said
there had been “no raid on Lebanese territory,” reporting only the
“strong presence of enemy planes over the area north of Bekaa” in
eastern Lebanon.
A Lebanese army spokesman said they had no indication of any airstrikes in the area, but were investigating the reports.The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human
Rights activist group said Israeli warplanes bombed a rocket launcher
for Hezbollah fighters near the villages of Janta and Yahfoufa along the
border. It was not known if the strikes hit inside Lebanese or Syrian
territory, the Observatory added.The Israeli military declined comment.Eyewitnesses told Al Arabiya that Israeli planes hit near the towns of Janta, Brital and Nabi Sheet in two separate strikes.

Janta lies along a known smuggling route for arms between Syria and Lebanon, the Daily Star reported. According to a 2012 report,
Hezbollah built a training facility at Janta “which includes a
suspected driver training course, a 100-meter firing range and a
possible urban terrain assault course.”
There was no independent confirmation of the reports.
An officer in the IDF’s Northern Command told Reuters that
“We have known for some time that there are efforts to move serious
weaponry from Syria to Lebanon,” but would not comment on Monday night’s
reports.Airstrikes on Syrian arms shipments to its
ally Hezbollah have been attributed to Israel in the past few years.
Israeli authorities have never claimed responsibility for attacks in

reportedly attacked Hezbollah targets on the Lebanon-Syria border, many
in Israel’s defense community are wondering how the Shiite terror group
will respond, if it does so at all.
Hezbollah
has so far offered few clues, downplaying or ignoring the reports of
multiple strikes on a missile shipment or missile base in the Baalbek
region.On Tuesday morning, Hezbollah’s al-Manar channel opened its news broadcast with clashes on the Temple Mount between Palestinians and Israeli police (or “forces of the Zionist enemy” in their terminology).The most
overt reference on the al-Manar website to the Israeli attack was that
“senior security officials did not confirm that there was an attack.”Earlier, the network said there had been “no
raid on Lebanese territory,” reporting only the “strong presence of
enemy planes over the area north of Bekaa” in eastern Lebanon.The al-Mayadeen channel, considered close to
Hezbollah, also buried news of the attack late Monday. Its headline
emphasized that “there were no injuries or damage” in the attack,
contradicting reports of Hezbollah casualties in al-Arabaiya. The report
seemed to telegraph to the Lebanese public how inconsequential the
attack was.This is how Hezbollah’s media operates. The
late hour of the incident and its location, in a mountainous area right
on the border, gave Hezbollah room to smudge the details of what exactly
happened in the attack, and avoid the question many people are asking
this morning in Lebanon: did the missiles strike a target inside Lebanon
or not? Hezbollah, though, may be trapped by the wide
availability of other, independent news sources. Minutes after the
strike, independent Lebanese media were already reporting that the
missiles fired from IAF jets hit inside Lebanon.Hezbollah, which has always boasted about
being the defender of Lebanon, is trying to downplay the attack in a bid
to avoid an ill-timed confrontation with Israel.The Lebanese public understands by now that
Hezbollah is up to its neck in the war in Syria. It sends its elite
forces and invests most of its military efforts there, making an
additional conflict against Israel unnecessary and highly risky. In
addition, Hezbollah only recently joined the new unity government in
Lebanon, and received several very senior portfolios.Despite the radio silence early Tuesday, the
organization will not want to let this attack go unpunished forever. The
laundry list of incidents it needs to respond to is only getting
longer: the assassination of Hassan Laqis, strikes in Syria, and of the
course the hit on Imad Mughniyeh in 2008.It’s likely that Hezbollah will keep the
Lebanese-Israeli front quiet, but that doesn’t mean the group will sit
on its haunches. A string of attempted attacks in 2012, including the
deadly bus bombing in Burgas, Bulgaria, show the group could seek
revenge by planning attacks on Israeli and Jewish targets abroad.

they “tried to change society’s opinions of them by inventing cinematic

it all began,” said the narrator of the program. “Everybody wanted to be
like Superman, the hero from outer space who could not fit into society
as Superman, so he invented a character that was better suited for

as saying, ”If you hit the heart of somebody, the result is short-term.

and her cabinet landed Monday at Ben Gurion Airport for a two-day stay
which will include a joint meeting of the two governments.Netanyahu
greeted Merkel in Jerusalem Monday night at a brief press conference.
The two were scheduled to meet at the Prime Minister’s Residence
afterward for a working dinner.“We have come here with almost the whole of
our new government and we wanted to show you in this way that this is
indeed a very strong friendship,” Merkel said in German and relayed in
English through a translator.Merkel said Germany has been working with
Israel “shoulder to shoulder” over the past five decades “to secure the
future of the state of Israel.” She said that “part and parcel of the
security of Israel is the two state solution…a Jewish state of Israel
and alongside it a Palestinian state.”Standing at her side Netanyahu said the U.S
mediated peace talks, as well as international efforts to quell Iran’s
nuclear program, would figure prominently in his meetings with Merkel.Germany also belongs to a group of nations
currently negotiating with Iran, Israel’s arch foe and a particular
nemesis for Netanyahu.“I would like to discuss ways to prevent Iran
from getting nuclear weapons capability. I believe that this is the

settlement construction will be raised, Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in
a statement.“We’ll discuss where things stand on the peace
process and will try to find out what the obstacles are that prevent a
solution,” he said. “The settlement policy clearly remains among those
obstacles and this will of course be raised. We said clearly in the past
that we don’t just consider decisions to expand settlements as
unhelpful, but as disruptive of peace efforts, and of course we will

Tensions have been on the rise lately between Israel and Europe, and
also with Germany, over settlement policies.Israel says the fate of settlements should be
resolved through the peace talks along with other core issues like

talks, and demanded the Palestinians recognize Israel as the Jewish
homeland. The Palestinians have objected, saying it would undermine the
rights of Israeli Arabs as well as the fate of Palestinian refugees
claiming lost properties in what is now Israel.The annual
joint Cabinet meetings highlight the strong bond between Israel and
Germany seven decades after the Holocaust, when Nazi Germany killed 6
million Jews. The countries only established diplomatic relations in
1965, nearly two decades after the Holocaust. Germany is a key Israeli

month lawmakers from a nationalist Israeli political party stormed out

7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.

12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)

14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR ATOMIC BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.

11 Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
12 And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13 Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14 Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.(ARAB,MUSLIMS)
15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir,(ARABS) and all Idumea,(ARAB,MUSLIMS) even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden:(IRAQ) and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir,(JORDAN) saith the LORD.

eavesdropped on thousands of people including Prime Minister Recep
Tayyip Erdogan, as well as cabinet ministers, the country’s spy chief
and journalists, local newspapers reported on Monday.Associates
of US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen in the police and the
judiciary have tapped the phones of Erdogan as well as politicians and
businessmen for three years, pro-government dailies Yenisafak and Star
claimed.Erdogan has accused rivals in the influential
Gulen group of acting as a “state within a state” seeking to topple his
government by instigating a high-level corruption investigation against
close allies.Classified documents revealing the
surveillance were discovered by new prosecutors appointed after a mass
purge of the police and prosecution service in the wake of the
corruption probe launched in December, the press reports said.The Star reported that so-called Gulenists had
wiretapped more than 7,000 people, as well as the headquarters of the
opposition Republic People’s Party, since 2011 on the pretext of trying
to uncover terrorism plots.Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said that he had
been wiretapped, adding: “This is no longer a problem just for the
(ruling) AK Party.”The corruption scandal has thrown up one of
the most serious challenges to Erdogan’s 11 years in power ahead of key
