JUDGMENT DAY is feared by the world and is the day that God will destroy the world because of the sins of mankind. The world is correct in believing that Judgment Day will come. The Bible gives us the correct and accurate information about that Day.

The Bible is the Holy Book written by Holy God who is the Creator of this beautiful world. The Holy Bible is without question a very ancient book, having been completed about 1,900 years ago. In its original languages (mostly Hebrew and Greek) it has never been changed, and each and every word in the original languages is from the mouth of God. The Bible is divided into two parts (the Old Testament and the New Testament), with each part divided into many books. Each book is divided into chapters, and each chapter is divided into verses. One of the books is named Second Timothy (2 Timothy). In Chapter 3, verse 16 (2 Timothy 3:16) of this book Holy God tells us:

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.In Jeremiah 36:1-4 God gives an example of how the Bible was written:And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin. Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which He had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book [the roll of the book is the Bible].

Holy God is far, far greater than our human minds can even begin to explain or understand. In Genesis 1:1 God declares:In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The Holy Bible is a book written to us so that we can know that Holy God created this beautiful universe, including all of its plants and animals, birds and sea creatures, and mankind who was created to rule this earth. Indeed there is no being of any kind that can compare with Holy God, who simply by speaking brought every kind of plant, animal, sea creature, and mankind, sun, stars, etc., into existence. For example, Holy God tells us in His Holy Bible in Genesis 1:24-26:And God said, let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.The people of the earth, which we call mankind, were created to rule over this earth. God gave laws by which we can live as happily and wisely as possible. He warns, however, that the breaking of those laws is sin, and sin will bring punishment from God. The Bible declares in Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death….

The Bible teaches there is only one God. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 4:39:Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD He is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.Because God is so great and glorious He calls Himself by many different names. Each name tells us something about the glorious character and nature of God. Thus in the Bible we find such names as God, Jehovah, Christ, Jesus, Lord, Allah, Holy Spirit, Savior, etc. Names such as Jehovah, Jesus, Savior, and Christ particularly point to God as the only means by which forgiveness from all of our sins and eternal life can be obtained by God’s merciful and glorious actions. Many books have been written about the Bible, or are regarded as additions to the Bible, like the Koran or the Book of Mormon. But however old or prestigious or well- accepted as a holy book they may be, no book other than the Bible is written by God Himself, and is Holy as the Bible is Holy. God warns in Revelation 22:18:For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.The word plagues in this verse refers to the punishment of death and destruction that will come upon all those who sin. The Bible teaches that even though God loves this world, which He in His infinite wisdom created, the law of God requires that those who sin must be punished by death. The Bible says in Ezekiel 18:20: The soul that sinneth, it shall die. In Romans 3:10 the Bible declares: There is none righteous [has not sinned], no, not one.

God must also obey His law and therefore, since all the people of the world are sinners, He finally must destroy the world. It is evident that sin in the world has become very great. The Bible warns in Jeremiah 25:33:And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.However, the Holy Bible tells us that Holy God is a God of great mercy, compassion and love. That is why He has given us in advance of the destruction the exact time of the Day of Judgment. The Bible tells us in Amos 3:7:Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but He revealeth his secret unto His servants the prophets.

Consequently we now can know from the Bible the exact time and many details of God’s destruction plan that is to come upon the whole world.While there is still time we can very humbly cry to God for His gracious mercy. Maybe, since God is such a merciful God, He might forgive someone who is humbly pleading with God for mercy. God promises for example in Zephaniah 2:3:Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought His judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.Holy God demonstrates for us that He is completely able to bring destruction on this whole world because of sin. The Holy Bible informs us of this awesome fact in Genesis 6:12-13:And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

By careful study of the Bible we learn that in the year 4990 B.C. (Before Christ) God brought a flood of water and destroyed the entire earth except for eight people and the animals that were with them. They were not destroyed because God brought them into the safety of the ark. Their leader, Noah, had obeyed God’s command to build a huge boat, called an ark, about 450 feet (137 meters) long.The Holy Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:7:By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Seven days before the beginning of the Flood that completely covered the entire earth, God commanded Noah to warn the peoples of the world that they had seven days to get into the safety of the ark. The Holy Bible tells us that on the 17th day of the 2nd month of that year God shut the door of the ark. Then, the Flood began to completely cover the entire earth.About 5,000 years later God wrote in His Holy Bible in 2 Peter Chapter 3 about this worldwide destruction by water in the days of Noah. In the same chapter He also warned that the time would come when Holy God would destroy the whole world by fire. Our entire universe would be forever destroyed. In between these two declarations of worldwide destruction that would come because of sin God made a very important statement. God declared in 2 Peter 3:8:

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.God had written in the Holy Bible in Genesis 7:4:For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.God added in Genesis 7:10-11:And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the Flood were upon the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.The ark that Noah had built was the only place of safety from the destruction of the Flood. Likewise, God’s gracious mercy is the only place of safety from the destruction that is coming on the Day of Judgment.

In 2 Peter 3:8, which is quoted above, Holy God reminds us that one day is as 1,000 years. Therefore, with the correct understanding that the seven days referred to in Genesis 7:4 can be understood as 7,000 years, we learn that when God told Noah there were seven days to escape worldwide destruction, He was also telling the world there would be exactly 7,000 years (one day is as 1,000 years) to escape the wrath of God that would come when He destroys the world on Judgment Day. Because Holy Infinite God is all-knowing, He knows the end from the beginning. He knew how sinful the world would become.Seven thousand years after 4990 B.C. (the year of the Flood) is the year 2011 A.D. (our calendar). 4990 + 2011 – 1 = 7,000
[One year must be subtracted in going from an Old Testament B.C. calendar date to a New Testament A.D. calendar date because the calendar does not have a year zero.]

Thus Holy God is showing us by the words of 2 Peter 3:8 that He wants us to know that exactly 7,000 years after He destroyed the world with water in Noah’s day, He plans to destroy the entire world forever. Because the year 2011 A.D. is exactly 7,000 years after 4990 B.C. when the flood began, the Bible has given us absolute proof that the year 2011 is the end of the world during the Day of Judgment, which will come on the last day of the Day of Judgment.

Amazingly, May 21, 2011 is the 17th day of the 2nd month of the Biblical calendar of our day. Remember, the flood waters also began on the 17th day of the 2nd month, in the year 4990 B.C.

GOD’S SUBLIME MERCY AND COMPASSION

God in His Holy Bible has given us a beautiful example of His compassionate mercy. Included in the Holy Bible is the book called Jonah. In it God tells of a very wicked city with a population of more than 120,000 people that existed about 2,800 years ago. It was called Nineveh, which was a capital city of the nation of Assyria that knew nothing of the Bible. But because of its wickedness and because Holy God is merciful, He sent a prophet named Jonah to that city. Jonah’s message from God to them was that in 40 days the whole city was to be destroyed.The whole city correctly believed with all their hearts that this warning was from Holy God. Thus from the king on down to the lowest servant they repented, which means they turned away from their sins and their pride. The Holy Bible tells us that they sat in sackcloth and ashes. This meant that they fully realized that because of their sins they had dreadfully shamed God. To put on sackcloth and ashes was an act of supreme humility to show in the clearest way to God and to all of the people how greatly they were humbled by their sins against Holy God. It showed that they knew that they fully deserved that God should destroy them because of their sin.But maybe, there was hope that Holy God might change His mind and instead have mercy on them. The Bible tells us in Jonah 3:6-9:For the word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

In answer to their complete humility we read of God’s fabulous, incomprehensible mercy toward these extremely wicked people. God tells us in Jonah 3:10:And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that He had said that He would do unto them; and He did it not.Because this entire wicked city of Nineveh turned from their evil ways and with great humility cried to God for mercy, Holy God did change His mind and did not destroy them.Sadly, the Holy Bible tells us that only a small percentage of today’s world will turn from their evil ways, and with great humility and fear will cry to God for mercy. Nevertheless, the Bible assures us that many of the people who do beg God for His mercy will not be destroyed. We learn from the Bible that Holy God plans to rescue about 200 million people (that is about 3% of today’s population). On the first day of the Day of Judgment (May 21, 2011) they will be caught up (raptured) into Heaven because God had great mercy for them. This is why we can be so thankful that God has given us advance notice of Judgment Day. Because God is so merciful, maybe He will have mercy on you. The Holy Bible says in Psalm 51:17:The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.And in Psalm 51:1-3 Holy God shows us the attitude we ought to have as we pray for His mercy:

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.Sadly, you can’t turn to your religion or go to your priest or pastor or spiritual leader for help. They, too, should be begging God for mercy for themselves. This is a matter only between you and Holy God. God knows every one of your thoughts, words, and actions. Turn away from your sins and humbly beg, beseech, and implore God for forgiveness.And, thank God that in His great mercy He has given you this warning of the destruction that is almost here, and the great hope that you, too, might be one whom God will bring to Heaven to be with God forevermore in the highest happiness and joy and glory. Holy God in the Holy Bible teaches us in Luke 18:10-14:Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.May God have mercy on you as He did on this publican.

Hevron Rabbi's Tomb Found after 118 Years

Searchers recently found the tombstone of Rabbi Shaul Yehudah-Lieb Hacohen Liebin, a leader in the Chabad-chassidic community of Hevron who passed away 118 years ago. Over the course of time, the memory of his exact burial place was lost.The tomb was found on the Mount of Olives (Har Hazeitim) in Jerusalem.Rabbi Leibin's descendants will gather Friday to hold a memorial service at his grave. Following the service, they will tell stories about his life, and about the Chabad community of Hevron.

Rabbi Liebin served as a rabbi in several communities in Ukraine. In 1887, he came to the land of Israel and settled in Hevron, where he was appointed to lead the Ashkenazi Jewish community in the city, and to join the Beit Din (religious court). In his later years, he moved to Jerusalem.The Jewish community of Hevron continued to flourish after Rabbi Liebin left, until Jews were expelled from the city in the brutal 1929 pogrom, in which local Arabs murdered 67 of their Jewish neighbors and maimed many more. Most survived, some with the help of Arab families; the British army then forced the survivors out of the city.Jews returned to Hevron only after the Six Day War, when the city was reunited with the rest of Israel after 19 years of Jordanian rule. Jews Demand Arab Only Roads be Opened to All

Israelis living in Binyamin have decided that if Israeli roads are open to Palestinian Authority traffic, formerly Arab only roads should be open to everyone as well. Dozens of residents of Talmonim took action on Tuesday, driving along a road that is usually used exclusively by PA Arabs.The road they chose runs between Neve Tzuf and Nachliel, and passes the Arab village of Dir Amar. The road is not officially closed by Jews, but has become a de-facto Arab-only road.The next step is to use roads that are officially closed to Jews, organizers explained. If the army is going to open roads to Arabs and put us in danger, we will travel on the roads that are [now] closed to us, they said.Many roads that for years were used only by Israelis have been opened to PA traffic in recent months. The roads, built by Israel and formerly used by Israelis and PA Arabs alike, were closed to PA traffic almost a decade ago following hundreds of terrorist attacks, many of them fatal.Israelis have protested that reopening the roads will put them in danger. There have been multiple fatal shooting attacks on Judea and Samaria roads over the past year, as well as several rock and firebomb attacks that ended in injury.The army's actions are threatening our security, said members of the Binyamin Residents' Council. UK More Interested in Islam, 100,000 Have Converted

A study conducted by Swansea University for the British group Faith Matters has found that UK citizens are increasingly interested in Islam, with the number of converts to Islam nearly doubling in 10 years. An estimated total of 100,000 have converted to Islam, 5,200 of them in 2010.In 2001, it was estimated that 60,000 British citizens had converted to Islam.Of the most recent converts, two-thirds are women. Most are white and native to Britain. The average age of new converts is 27.

One in four believe there is a natural conflict between being devoutly Muslim and being a British citizen. More than half said they had met with a negative response from family regarding their conversion.When asked what they believe to be the negative aspects of British society, the converts cited alcohol consumption, sexual permissiveness, and unrestrained consumerism.Similar studies in France and Germany found that approximately 4,000 people convert to Islam each year in both countries.
Faith Matters director Fiyaz Mughal said the precise number of converts to Islam is unknown, but that it is clear that the number has risen dramatically over the past decade. Converts could play an important role in both British and Muslim society by helping to reconcile the two worlds, and by disentangling cultural norms... which blur the true essence of Islam, Mughal opined.Britain has faced challenges integrating its Muslim population. Emails sent to Infowars.com and comments posted on Alex Jones’ flagship websites today provide multiple confirmations that episodes of Jesse Ventura’s popular truTV show Conspiracy Theory are disappearing from the DVRs of TiVo, Comcast, DirectTV and AT&T customers.Shows finding their way to the digital memory hole include the already heavily censored Police State episode and shows on the JFK assassination and the worldwide water conspiracy.All of the shows that we have recorded on our Direct TV DVR of Jesse Ventura’s Show season 1 & 2 was removed without mine and my husband’s permission, an email received on December 27 explains. We do not have any setting’s on the DVR which would allow or permit the shows to be erased and deleted from our Direct TV Receiver/ Recorder.Alex is right, a comment on the InfowarMovies states. I had 7 episodes of Ventura in my directv dvr. All of them marked as keep. The police state episode is gone. I think when they do code updates is when they erase. This is nuts! I have AT&T Uverse and the Fema camp episode has been erased from my DVR, reports a comment on Paul Joesph Watson’s story this morning about the episode appearing on YouTube.TiVo has admitted monitoring DVR units. For instance, in 2004, the company said Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl was the most replayed moment ever measured. SAO PAULO – Authorities in Brazil say four people from the same family have died in a mudslide in the interior of Sao Paulo state, and civil defense officials say heavy flooding have killed at least 35 people and forced more than 30,000 out of their homes across the country.Officials in the city of Jundiai said Thursday the four people, including two girls, died when their house collapsed because of a mudslide triggered by downpours.The worst hit state is Minas Gerais, where civil defense authorities said on Thursday that 16 people either drowned or were buried in mudslides. More than 13,000 were forced to seek shelter.Heavy rains since Christmas in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo states have killed more than 20 people and left about 20,500 homeless.

Forecasters said there is no immediate threat from cold weather but a turn to bitter cold at the end of the 10-day period bears watching.No significant cold weather threats are seen for the Midwest soft red winter wheat region, despite mention of much-below normal temperatures at times.

ROCKHAMPTON/PERTH, Australia (Reuters) – Australia's flood-stricken coal industry faced lengthy disruptions on Thursday, with one miner saying it could take weeks to drain its pits of water and a major port suspending export shipments because of a lack of coal.Floods have swamped mines in Queensland state, paralyzing operations that produce 35 percent of Australia's estimated 259 million tonnes of exportable coal. Australia contributes two-thirds of global coking-coal exports, needed to make steel.About 200,000 people scattered across an area the size of France and Germany combined have been affected by the flooding in Queensland. Damage from the floods, the worst in the state in 50 years, has been estimated at $5 billion.One of Queensland's two major coal ports, Gladstone, suspended exports on Thursday, starved of sufficient supplies from water-logged and marooned mines further inland.

Gladstone port normally blends together different coals at the waterfront before loading ships, but a port spokeswoman said it had insufficient quantities to continue blending to the same standard. It was now awaiting further guidance from miners.It's the coal companies' call as to whether they start loading that coal or not, the spokeswoman told Reuters.One commodities analyst estimated that 45 to 50 million tonnes of metallurgical-grade coal needed to make steel were under force majeure declarations, which temporarily release miners from delivery obligations.That doesn't mean those tonnes are lost to the market, they are just saying there is a risk they might not be delivered on time, said UBS commodities analyst Tom Price.Also, production of roughly 8 percent of the world's thermal coal production -- used in power generation -- has been temporarily eliminated by the flooding, according to Australia & New Zealand Bank analyst Mark Pervan.Analysts expect steel coals to rise as much as a third to $300 a tonne in the aftermath of the floods, sweeping thermal coal prices higher in the process.You can't have a lift in metallurgical coal prices without dragging up thermal coal, Price said.

Asian steel-makers are anxious over Australian supplies, worried the disruptions could outlast their stockpiles, which typically hold around a month's worth of consumption.London-listed Anglo American, one of the nation's top four miners of steel-making coal, said it could take some weeks to pump water out of its flooded mines and that it was too early to say when its collieries could resume operation.Our focus is currently on mobilizing our people and other resources and de-watering flooded coal pits, which we estimate will take some weeks, Seamus French, head of the group's metallurgical coal division, said in a statement.Anglo has about seven coal mines in Queensland, the state that accounts for most of Australia's coking-coal exports.Anglo's major rivals, Rio Tinto, Xstrata and BHP Billiton, have also been hit by the floods, and all have made force majeure declarations.The flooding is already receding in some coal fields, but all four major producers still face supply disruptions and cannot say when operations would return to normal.In 2008, flooding stalled some mines for as long as six months, but others began producing within six weeks, said Andrew Harrington, an analyst at Patersons Securities in Sydney.Mines then raised output to recoup losses and ended the year about 10 percent below where they otherwise would have been.This time around, it's happening a lot earlier, it looks a lot worse, and we're still seeing more rainfall, said Harrington.

CAMELS, HORSES AND SNAKES

Floodwaters have begun to slowly recede in some districts in Queensland, but were still rising in some areas further south, including around the town of St George. In Rockhampton, a cattle town of 75,000, muddy flood waters had dropped a few inches overnight despite more heavy rains but it will take days before a cleanup can begin. On pockets of higher land, camels and horses grazed on people's front lawns, while residents relied on boats to fetch supplies.Most homes are built on stilts in the flood-prone area, so water had not risen above the floors in most cases.Hospitals in central Queensland have also been stockpiling anti-venom, media reported, after snakes sought refuge in homes, including the deadly brown snake.

ECONOMIC COST PUT AT $5 BILLION

Three people have been killed in the floods and hundreds left homeless. The economic cost of the inundation, which some scientists are linking to global warming and rising sea temperatures, is already estimated at around $5 billion.Roads, rail lines and bridges have been submerged, and authorities are waiting for the waters to recede before they can assess how much vital infrastructure needs rebuilding.
Australian stocks were flat on Thursday, undermined in part by worries over the impact of floods on mining profits.Dalrymple Bay, the country's largest coal export port, is operating but said on Thursday that deliveries to the port could dry up unless mines started reopening by the weekend.If we can't get it in, we can't ship it out, said Dalrymple spokesman Greg Smith. Heavy rains hit Australia's flood-drenched northeast

ROCKHAMPTON, Australia (AFP) – Heavy rains threatened further flooding in Australia's drenched northeast Thursday as besieged Rockhampton cut supplies to irresponsible residents who refused to leave water-bound homes.Torrential downpours could cause flash-flooding and worsen existing floods, the weather bureau said, as water levels slowly started to recede in regional centre Rockhampton, a town virtually surrounded by a brown inland sea.Australia's coal-mining and farming belt near Brisbane is suffering biblical floods across an area the size of Texas, after La Nina, a weather system, deluged Queensland state with its wettest year on record.

Waters peaked in Rockhampton at lower levels than feared and slowly started to recede, while downstream other communities braced for the floods. The disaster, described as the state's worst, has inundated or cut off 40 towns.Entire towns have been airlifted as the murky tide gushes across Queensland, destroying crops, roads and bridges and sweeping 10 people to their deaths, along with thousands of animals.

BP, Transocean shares shrug off U.S. oil spill report

LONDON (Reuters) – Shares in BP and Transocean rose on Thursday as investors bet a new U.S. Presidential panel report that spread the blame for the country's worst-ever oil spill meant the firms would avoid the massive costs of a gross negligence charge.BP's London-listed shares were up 1.6 percent at 507.6 pence at 1100 GMT (6 a.m. ET), while shares in Transocean's Swiss-listed shares were up 3.9 percent. The STOXX 600 European oil and gas sector index was up 1.2 percent, on higher oil prices.

One top 10 investor in BP said the fact that the blame for the blowout was shared with drilling contractor Transocean and well cementer Halliburton suggested the London-based oil major was less likely to face gross negligence charges.Under U.S. law, BP faces fines of $5 billion because the spill happened on its exploration block.However, the fine could rise above $21 billion if Europe's second-largest oil company by market value was found to have been grossly negligent in the run-up to the blast.Peter Hitchens, oil analyst at Panmure Gordon, said comments made in the report that the management failure which caused the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig reflected industry-wide flaws, also made BP appear less culpable.And while the report was damning, Richard Griffith, analyst at Evolution Securities said it could also mean BP can offload some of the costs of cleaning up the spill onto its contractors.The report may provide grounds for BP to claw back monies from license partners and possibly Transocean and Halliburton, he said in a research note.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Record high food prices are moving to the top of the agenda for many Asian policymakers as the prospect of higher inflation in 2011 poses a major threat to the region's strong revival from the global financial crisis.The United Nations' food agency (FAO) said on Wednesday that food prices hit a record high last month, moving beyond levels of 2008, when riots broke out in countries as far afield as Egypt, Cameroon and Haiti.Food inflation in many Asian countries, including China and India, is already in double digits, raising fears that the price pressures could spread more broadly to other sectors and pose a threat to both economic and social stability as millions of Asians live in poverty.The FAO said sugar and meat were at their highest since its records began in 1990. Prices were at their highest since 2008 crisis levels for wheat, rice, corn and other cereals.

Benchmark prices solely in Asia for rice suggested a different picture.The region's staple food now stands at $535 per tonne -- less than half its 2008 levels of more than $1,000 a tonne that prompted several governments at the time to impose curbs on exports to protect their domestic markets.However, the fact that rice is far from the lofty levels of the 2007/2008 food crisis should offer no comfort for policymakers.I wouldn't be terribly surprised if 2011 resembles in many ways 2008, said Frederic Neumann, regional economist at HSBC in Hong Kong.Food price inflation could really go into double digits across the region and rise to such an extent that it undermines the purchasing power of households and as a result then slows consumer demand and overall economic growth, he said.And that's a problem for Asian economic growth. But really it's also a problem for the rest of the world because as the Asian consumer increasingly is helping to stabilise world demand, it's actually a challenge of wider global significance.Surging food prices have proved a trigger for social protests in the past, forcing governments to cave in to demands for action. They were a factor in the fall from power of Indonesia's long-term autocrat Suharto in 1998.Last year, wheat futures prices rose 47 percent, buoyed by a series of weather events including drought in Russia and its Black Sea neighbours. U.S. corn rose more than 50 percent and U.S. soybeans jumped 34 percent.

PRICES TO KEEP RISING

Luke Matthews, a commodity strategist at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, said there was little reason to expect any let up in the global rally in food prices.We do believe that the structural drivers behind high food prices are likely to persist for some time, he said. We have tight stocks in the corn and sugar markets, we have world wheat stocks susceptible to turn lower with forecasts of La Nina to persist for the next 3 months or so.La Nina is a weather pattern that brings cooling temperatures, resulting in higher rainfall in Australia, a major wheat and sugar exporter, and parts of Southeast Asia.The structural drivers make food commodities and the stocks of food companies hot investment sectors this year, said Terence Wong, an analyst at brokerage DMG in Singapore.He cited vegetable grower and processor China Minzhong and animal drug maker China Animal Healthcare as his top tips in the local market. Fan Cheuk Wan, head of Asia Pacific research at the private banking division of Credit Suisse, favours Indonesian palm oil firm Indofood Agri Resources and suggested investors avoid companies that could get hit by price controls. World Bank President Robert Zoellick urged governments in a newspaper opinion column to avoid protectionist measures as food prices rise and called upon the Group of 20 leading economies to take steps to make sure the poor get adequate food supply. Still, Asia's rapidly rising consumption as developing economies such as India, China and Indonesia emerge on the world stage is a major factor behind the rise in food prices.China, for example, is expected to buy 60 percent of internationally traded soybeans in 2010/11, double its purchases of four years earlier.Several countries have implemented measures to try to keep food prices under control, worried about a repeat of the 2007/2008 crisis, when surging commodity prices prompted a jump in inflation and left many countries with a deep trade deficit.

India's food prices rose to a one-year high of more than 18 percent in the year to the end of December, data on Thursday showed. That, along with rising fuel prices, is the main reason analysts expect the central bank to raise rates this month. The Indian government has operated a range of measures for years to ensure stable food prices, but since last year has boosted the release of national stocks of grains and has pledged to continue with duty-free imports of crude vegetable oils.In China, several cities have implemented direct controls to limit food price increases and the central government has vowed to eliminate speculation in the country's commodities markets.The cost of food rose 11.7 percent in the year to November, while non-food items were up just 1.9 percent. But, reflecting concerns that inflation is creeping beyond food to the wider economy, consumer goods prices and housing costs showed clear jumps.Fu Bingtao, an economist with the Agricultural Bank of China in Beijing, said in a report that grains, the country's most important food, would rise in price in 2011 by 10 percent, adding to an 11.7 percent rise in 2010.Speculative trading and hoarding of specific agricultural products may continue, he said.Indonesia's president called on Thursday for households to plant food to help combat inflation. POLICY RESPONSE

Higher interest rates do little to ease pressure on food prices. Demand is inelastic because people have to eat, but current price pressures are largely supply-led, so tighter monetary policy would not directly help.The danger, however, is that food inflation spreads to the wider economy.I think there's an urgent need to be more pre-emptive in tightening monetary policy to prevent some of these inflation pressures from erupting, said Neumann.Neumann said some central banks had taken some action in terms of monetary tightening, but more needed to be done.On average, interest rates in Asia are about 150 basis points below the neutral level, that is, even if we see marginal rate hikes coming through, this wouldn't necessarily amount to a tightening of monetary policy, rather an easing of the stimulus.Therefore much more aggressive action would be warranted at this stage.South Korea, like other Asian countries that run trade and current account surpluses, could give more room to its currency to rise to offset rising import costs on food.But that presents another dilemma for policymakers trying to curb a flood of portfolio capital from investors turning away from the sluggish growth in developed economies.Higher interest rates or the likelihood of a rising currency would just encourage further inflows, analysts say. BRUSSELS (AFP) – Confidence in the eurozone economy rose to the highest level for three years last month, a bright spot in a bad year which the single currency area wants to put behind it, key EU data showed on Thursday.Regional powerhouses France and Germany carried the stronger-than-expected rise, but in a sign that the euro has yet to shake off its troubles, southern members hit by high debts and public deficits continued to fall back.The survey underlines the view that the peripheral economies are set for another very tough year, said Ben May, European economist at market research firm Capital Economics.The Economic Sentiment Indicator published by the European Commission rose by 1.1 points to 106.2 points across the 16-nation single currency area -- now 17 since Estonia joined on January 1, 2011. It was the highest level since it peaked at 106.5 points in October 2007.In the wider 27-nation European Union, confidence rose 1.0 point to 106.1 points.Sentiment in most EU countries improved but confidence fell in Spain and Greece which were forced to implement tough austerity measures to bring down high deficits.France led the pack with a gain of 2.5 points, followed by 2.4 points in the Netherlands and 1.5 points in Germany. But Spain fell back 0.9 points while Greece retreated by 1.4 points.It is notable that there were marked divergences in sentiment between the individual economies, reinforcing the impression of a two-speed eurozone, said Howard Archer, chief European economist at IHS Global Insight.

In another sign of Germany's robust economic health, industrial orders leapt by a surprise 5.2 percent in November from the level in October, according to national data.The eurozone's debt crisis began last year with a bailout of ?110 billion ($144 billion) for Greece and was followed by a rescue of ?67 billion for Ireland in December. Analysts warn that Spain and Portugal may be next in line for help.The high confidence in the eurozone economy in December was fuelled by strong business sentiment, but consumers were less than buoyant, the European Commission survey showed.The data suggest that consumers may have been more spooked by the heightened eurozone sovereign debt crisis than businesses,Archer said.It is also likely that consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the fiscal tightening that will increasingly kick in across the Eurozone during 2011, as well as by higher inflation, he said.Sentiment in industry rose sharply, by 3.6 points in the EU and 3.3 points in the eurozone, while consumer confidence fell 1.1 points in the EU and 1.6 points in the eurozone.In another indication of consumer jitters, retail sales in the eurozone dropped by 0.8 percent in November compared to the previous month's level, according to the Eurostat data agency.

Fear stalks Egypt's churches over Coptic Christmas

CAIRO (Reuters) – Egypt tightened security around churches on the eve of Coptic Christmas after a New Year's Day bombing killed up to 23 and sparked angry protests by Christians demanding more protection from Muslim militants.Officials suspect an al Qaeda-inspired bomber was behind the blast outside a church in the port city of Alexandria. Islamist websites had carried repeated threats to attack churches and have vowed to strike again.The blast ripped through a crowd, scattering body parts, destroying cars and shattering windows.I no longer want to stay in this country, said Emad Atef, 25, a Christian who is a carpenter. I am getting the paperwork to leave. I don't feel safe and neither do those around me.Extra police were deployed outside main churches, streets nearby were cleared of cars and some roads were blocked by security measures.Egypt's Muslims and Christians have co-existed for centuries, with occasional clashes often the result of family or business disputes or cross-faith relationships, not ideology. RECIPE FOR VIOLENCE

The Alexandria attack was the worst in decades against Christians and drew attention to the state's handling of sectarian riots. Rights groups say Egyptian police have been too slow to punish violence motivated by religion, sending a message that it is acceptable.Copts said the government should prosecute the rioters instead of urging victims to accept reconciliation. It's a recipe for a recurrence of these violent attacks,said Hossam Bahgat, head of the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights.
Some pointed to a deeper problem -- a gradual Islamisation of education promoting a single, Islamic version of Egypt's identity that belies a diverse cultural history.
Our school books are preaching Islamisation, said Youssef Sidhom, the Christian editor of weekly newspaper Watani. Coptic history of Egypt is to a vast extent withdrawn... The syllabus is using Islam as the source of all traditions and norms.

Israeli, Egyptian leaders to discuss peacemaking

Angry crowd forces Israeli PM to halt speech

Firefighting services are part of his ministry.Israel's firefighting services were unprepared for the huge fire, which destroyed swaths of forest in Israel's north. Since Israel lacked any suitable aircraft, Netanyahu had to appeal for help from abroad. Several nations, including the United States, sent firefighting planes that helped douse the blaze after four days.During Wednesday's disturbance, bodyguards rushed toward the podium and formed a line to keep people away from Netanyahu.Relatives yelled at him to resign and called the ceremony a disgrace. They objected to his attempt to identify with their personal pain without taking responsibility for the tragedy.We will find out the truth. It was carrying prison service workers toward a jail, where they were sent to evacuate prisoners.The flames reached the outskirts of Haifa, Israel's third-largest city.

Dozens of jackdaws found dead in Sweden

STOCKHOLM – Officials say about 50 birds have been found dead on a street in Sweden.

Veterinarian Robert ter Horst says the cause of jackdaws' deaths was unclear but that fireworks were set off near the scene Tuesday night.The birds were found dead on Wednesday.Ter Horst says cold weather, difficulties finding food and possible shock from the fireworks could be responsible, leading to the stressed birds either dying from the stress or being run over by vehicles.Five of the dead jackdaws found in the city of Falkoping were being tested.Mass bird deaths aren't uncommon.In the U.S., New Year's Eve fireworks were blamed in Arkansas for killing thousands of blackbirds, and a few days later power lines likely killed about 450 birds in Louisiana.

Mass Bird & Fish Die-Offs Go Global, Spark End Times Panic

The mass bird and fish die-offs that have affected parts of the U.S. over the last week have now gone global, with Sweden, Brazil and New Zealand becoming the latest countries to experience a phenomena that has sparked both scientific intrigue and apocalyptic panic in equal measure.Following the sudden deaths of thousands of birds that fell over Beebe Arkansas on New Year’s Eve, in addition to 100,000 dead fish found along a 20-mile stretch between the Ozark Dam and Highway 109 Bridge in Franklin County, 500 dead blackbirds and starlings were subsequently discovered in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana.Large numbers of dead birds were also found in Kentucky around Christmas and more were found in the following days. Earlier this week, tens of thousands of small fish were found washed up in the Chesapeake Bay area. Despite their deaths being blamed on a cold snap, experts are bewildered that the fish didn’t swim to warmer waters as would be their normal response.

In a separate report emailed to us by an Alex Jones Show listener, more dead birds were seen near St. Louis, Missouri.I just wanted to let Alex now that I encountered over a hundred blackbirds killed on Christmas Day. This was about 30 miles south of St. Louis, MO near highway 55. The intersection was covered with them, states the email.The phenomenon has now gone global, with dead jackdaw birds falling to their deaths across central Sweden shortly before midnight on Tuesday.In New Zealand, hundreds of dead snapper have washed up on Coromandel beaches. The fish looked fat and healthy, ruling out the weather or starvation as a cause of death.People at Little Bay and Waikawau Bay, on the north-east of the peninsula, were stunned when children came out of the sea with armfuls of the fish and within minutes the shore was littered with them, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.Meanwhile, in Brazil, 100 tons of fish (sardine, croaker and catfish) have turned up dead off the coast of Parana over the course of the last week.Apart from Paranagua, (Edmir Manoel) Ferreira said the dead fish are starting to appear in other coastal towns, reports Parana Online. The dead fish are going to Antonina, and Guaraqueçaba. We need an urgent solution to this,he warned.

The number of different cases of dead birds and fish around the U.S. and globally has been matched by the myriad of different explanations as to the cause of their demise. While some theories are rooted in scientific verbiage, others have taken on an altogether more spiritual and apocalyptic context.The more mundane causes are cited as fireworks, localized hail, power lines, or other temporary phenomena that caused the birds to panic and fly into one another. However, this doesn’t explain why similar events are occurring in different areas of the country or indeed the world and it doesn’t address the issue of mass fish deaths.As we have documented, the primary suspects should always be governments given the fact that they have routinely engaged in secret testing of biological and electromagnetic weapons that have detrimentally impacted both humans and animals many times in the past.Others point to the New Madrid fault zone coming to life again as a result of being disturbed by the BP oil spill and threatening the onset of a series of mega-earthquakes which will hit Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and Mississippi. Queries like dead fish Bible, dead birds and fish Revelation, dead birds and fish die End Times.were being entered by the million Tuesday,writes Jim Hagerty, with forum moderators kept busy answering questions about the opening of the Seventh Seal and whether or not a great pestilence will follow soon.It seems unavoidable that the closer we get to 2012 and the onset of the widely prophesied end times theory, where a series of cataclysmic or transformative events will coincide with the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mayan Long Count calendar, which will subsequently herald the end of the world or the beginning of a new spiritual age, that every bizarre event will be cited as evidence of this coming transformation.The mass deaths of birds in particular strike a resonant chord within the human psyche for a number of sociological and cultural reasons, not least of which is the fact that they are often seen as an early warning system for harm that could later come to human beings, which of course is where the term canary in the coal mine originates.

Although mass die-offs of birds and fish are by no means unprecedented, any increase in their regularity will combine easily with 2012 fever to whip up more frenzy and wide-eyed speculation. This in turn will distract millions of Americans from both real environmental crises that could be connected to the bird deaths, as well as very real political conspiracies and financial plots that continue to spell doomsday for the very existence of the American republic, with no reliance on idle speculation about Mayan calendars or 2012 end times prophecies.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Catherine Ashton has failed to persuade the UK and other Beijing-critical member states to lift the EU arms embargo on China. But China is continuing to build influence in the Union with bond purchases from vulnerable countries.There remains a broad consensus within the EU that the time is not right to lift the arms embargo. We need to see clear progress on the issues that necessitated the embargo in the first place, namely on civil liberties and political rights, a British diplomat told EUobserver on Tuesday (4 January) in response to speculation on a potential shift in EU policy, which would require a consensus of all 27 EU members.A diplomat from a former Communist EU country added: There is simply no talk of it in the run-up to the EU foreign ministers' meeting [on 31 January]. After the Nobel Peace Prize and China's reaction to that, it is politically unimaginable to make any move for the time being.Leaving aside the moral dimension, any change on the embargo could also harm EU-US relations.Asked by EUobserver on Tuesday if the US is reconsidering its position on China arms sales, the State Department pointed to comments made by a senior US diplomat, John Hillen, in 2005 as still being relevant. Mr Hillen at the time said that lifting the embargo would raise a major obstacle to future US defence co-operation with Europe.

The EU imposed the ban in 1989 in response to China's killings of thousands of dissidents during protests in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.France and Spain have recently argued that the arms ban is out of date due to China's economic metamorphosis and de facto changes in EU-China trade relations. The EU's foreign relations chief, British politician Catherine Ashton, aligned herself with anti-embargo countries in a strategy paper on China delivered to EU leaders in December. The paper said the embargo is a major impediment for better relations and that the Union should elaborate a way forward.Her appeal came despite China's aggressive diplomacy on the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize award to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo.China at the time urged EU embassies in Oslo to boycott the Nobel gala or face unspecified consequences.Chinese President Hu Jintao had the same month visited Lisbon and promised to support its ailing economy, while Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao had in in Athens in October promised to buy junk Greek bonds. In the end Greece and Portugal both sent ambassadors to the Nobel event. But China has begun the new year with a fresh EU diplomatic offensive targeting Germany, Spain and the UK.Chinese deputy prime minister Li Keqiang arrived in Madrid on Tuesday and will go to Berlin and London later in the week.

The Chinese ambassador to Spain, Zhu Bangzao, told Spanish daily El Pais on Tuesday that Beijing will buy more Spanish bonds, saying: During these times of crisis, China feels it is a requirement to support Spain and the EU ... We are not coming empty handed.China's ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, wrote in a comment for British daily The Telegraph the same day: [We] will take concrete action to help some EU members to address their sovereign debt problem ... China is doing what a Chinese proverb says about sending charcoal in snowy weather.With a sovereign debt crisis in Spain threatening the future of the eurozone, the EU-China game is being played out for the highest possible stakes.An EU diplomatic source noted that this week's trip by Mr Li is designed to help bring state-of-the-art aviation technology to China rather than military technology strictly speaking. The Chinese have stopped pressing on the arms embargo at every possible opportunity and are focusing their efforts more on high-tech exports for now,the contact explained.

Romania threatens Croatia in Schengen dispute

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Romania is threatening to create problems for Croatia's EU accession bid in a diplomatic counter-attack against delays to its own entry into the EU's border-free Schengen zone.Romanian foreign minister Teodor Baconschi in an interview with the daily newspaper Adevarul on Monday (3 January) attacked Germany and France for linking Romania's Schengen bid to progress on corruption and organised crime.The same rules that were applied to any other enlargement of the Schengen area must be respected, he said, noting that Romania had been promised to get into Schengen when it met purely technical requirements.Let's have a look at Croatia's situation. We are supporting any EU enlargement to the western Balkans. But we can't accept that this is being done without CVM, as long as CVM is being kept in our case, he added in a thinly-veiled threat to hold Zagreb to ransom over the Schengen issue.The so-called Co-operation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) was imposed on Romania and its southern neighbour Bulgaria in an unusual move in 2007 because the European Commission and other EU states wanted to pressure the two countries to keep-up anti-corruption reforms after they entered the Union.

Four years later, the CVM is still in place and Romania is still rated as one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. In a letter sent last month to the European Commission, German and French interior ministers said Romania and Bulgaria must make irreversible progress in terms of CVM monitoring before they can enter Schengen.
Schengen enlargement has no legal connection to the CVM. But the proviso is also supported by the Netherlands and the Nordic countries, which believe speedy Schengen entry would remove an incentive for further reform and would help organised crime rings in the two countries to expand into other EU states.Romania's Mr Baconschi also said that Bucharest could unilaterally ditch the CVM, explaining that it should be a two-way street and a co-operation platform rather than a handicap.EUobserver understands that this option is not really feasible however, as the monitoring was a jointly agreed commitment of Bulgaria and Romania when they joined the bloc. It's unwise to give it up if you want something else at the same time,one EU official told this website.For its part, Croatia has already been held hostage by its neighbour Slovenia, which in recent years delayed its EU accession progress over a maritime border dispute.Romania's sabre-rattling seems to be directed primarily at Germany - Croatia's main supporter in the EU - rather than the Balkan state itself. But it could, in theory, delay the process.Croatia is hoping to finish EU accession talks in the coming months. EU governments and the European Parliament then have to approve and ratify its accession treaty, with membership likely to happen in 2013 if everything goes smoothly.

Bulgaria, the other country targeted by the Franco-German letter, has so far kept a low profile, pledging to do its utmost to fulfil all the Schengen conditions.On Monday, however, a new scandal was sparked by former interior minister Rumen Petkov - himself under investigation for corruption - when he accused the Bulgarian government of embezzling EU funds intended for Schengen preparations.Mr Petkov pointed out that a total of €160 million had been granted for Bulgaria's Schengen preparations, of which €30 million were redistributed to the ministry of finance. I am inclined to believe it has been stolen, Mr Petkov said.There has been a huge increase in cigarette, fuel and drug smuggling through the Bulgarian border,the former interior minister stated. He also claimed that 560 people who are not allowed to enter the EU have recently crossed the country's borders anyway.Mr Petkov's allegations reflect a dire image painted by EU officials in talks with US diplomats in Sofia, as reported in a US cable dating back to 26 June 2009 and published by WikiLeaks.Under the headline How to you make them reform when they don't want to? the US diplomats spoke of EU commission officials' growing and by now extreme frustration with Sofia's cosmetic fixes to get a good report while failing to undertake real reforms.The government's defensive arrogance - and lack of political will - is intensifying enlargement fatigue in Brussels,an EU source told the US diplomat.According to reliable contacts, Brussels Eurocrats have dubbed enlargement fatigue the Bulgarian Break,further tarnishing Bulgaria's bad image within the EU, the cable added.

Another Day, Another Mortar Attack from Gaza

Terrorists from the Hamas-controlled Gaza region struck the western Negev with another mortar attack Wednesday morning. Two shells exploded in an open area of the Eshkol Regional Council district. No damage was reported, and no one was injured.The attack came hours after IAF warplanes bombed a Hamas training base in Gaza as a continuation of the government's policy of retaliating for every attack launched from Gaza.Gaza terrorists have escalated their rocket and mortar fire in recent weeks, launching dozens of missiles and shells at Israeli civilians and soldiers in the western Negev. Several Israelis have been wounded.Wednesday's air strike was launched in retaliation for a terror rocket attack on Jewish farm near Ashkelon on Tuesday. Several greenhouses were damaged in the attack, although residents escaped injury.Just three days earlier – on Saturday – Gaza terrorists launched a rocket and mortar attack on Jewish communities in the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council district.

One woman suffered an anxiety attack during the barrage, but no physical damage or injuries was reported. Both the English and Chinese language editions of the Global Times ran front-page articles on the photos of what appears to be a future J-20 fighter, along with extensive reports on the buzz the pictures have generated overseas.Photos of the plane appeared on unofficial military news websites and hobbyist blogs last week and were still viewable Wednesday.The Global Times did not comment on the authenticity of the pictures, but since the government wields extensive control over state media, the report's appearance and the fact that censors have not removed images from websites suggest a calculated move to leak the information into the public sphere.

That in turn would reflect the growing confidence of the traditionally secretive People's Liberation Army, which is pushing for greater influence and bigger budgets.

A Boast or a Bluff? US Denies Iran Downed Drones

The United States has flatly denied an Iranian boast that it downed American drones, raising more doubts on dozens of Iranian claims of military successes. The New York Times Roger Cohen went so far as to call Iran a paper tiger last year.Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh boasted earlier this week the Guards have downed many drones, including two over the Straits of Hormuz, which Iran calls the Persian Gulf.However, no video footage of the planes was displayed, and the Guards did not say precisely where and when the drones were downed.Pentagon spokesman Dave Lapan responded by saying that there were no recent reports that would corroborate what the Revolutionary Guard said about unmanned aerial vehicles. He said that several drones may have crashed due to technical problems, which would explain Iran’s claim that it has downed drones in its possession and is reproducing them for its own surveillance.The Canadian National Post’s Matt Gurney commented, While the loss of a $10-million drone would be an irritant and a setback to any Western nation with an interest in monitoring the Iranian regime, it is still a far better thing to lose a drone than to lose a manned aircraft.Despite its bluster and bravado, the fact remains that Iran can never shoot down enough cheap, easily replaced drones to seriously affect the West’s ability to spy on its military programs. So, that's a massive impact on the international markets and the international manufacturer of steel.The Australian floods, which have cut off 22 towns and affected 200,000 people, have resulted from the La Nina weather phenomenon, which produces monsoonal rains over the western Pacific and Southeast Asia.The La Nina is expected to last another three months after it produced Australia's third-wettest year on record in 2010, the nation's weather bureau said on Wednesday.Queensland is a very big state. Authorities are warning people to stay out of floodwaters not just because of the risk of drowning but because snakes and crocodiles are being washed into homes and shops.

Some coal mines in Queensland, the world's biggest exporter of coal used in steel-making, were resuming production although the outlook remained uncertain.Macarthur Coal said on Wednesday it had resumed transporting coal by rail to Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal this week, but force majeure notices remained in place and future coal trains would depend on coal availability.Once the pits are free of water, we'll have more coal exposed that can be processed and transported, said Nicole Hollows, Macarthur's managing director. It is not possible to predict when we will return to a steady state of mining as that largely depends on any future rain.Wesfarmers is resuming output at its Curragh mine in the Bowen Basin, but maintained its force majeure.A spokesman for Dalrymple port warned that unless mine companies resume production in the nation's biggest coal region soon, coal export shipments could again be cut.Some rail lines carrying coal from inland mines expected to stay partially underwater for another week. In terms of river levels, they might recede by next week but these big mining establishments are obviously going to feel the affects for months to come, said Jess Carey, a flood forecaster for the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.Coal mines with annual production capacity of more than 90 million tonnes have issued force majeure notices, which release them from delivery obligations.

The floods are having ramifications far beyond Queensland.Australia accounts for more than half of global coking coal exports, which are vital to steelmakers, especially in Asian countries such as booming China.The floods have hit mines which produced 35 percent of Australia's estimated 259 million tonnes of coal exports in 2009. An estimated $1 billion has been lost in coal production, said the Queensland Resource Council.The floods weighed on investment sentiment with Australian stocks falling on Wednesday by 0.6 percent to a one-month low.Shares in global miners BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto lost ground and top banks such as Commonwealth Bank fell on concern about their financial exposure to affected firms.The Australian dollar also slipped back toward parity with the U.S. currency, after shedding 1.2 percent on Tuesday.Our equity analysts think that a lot of coal mines in Queensland could be shut down for two to three months, so that's going to be a substantial hit to exports going forward, said David Forrester, FX strategist at Barclays Capital in Singapore.Shinichi Taniguchi, executive vice president at Nippon Steel Corp, the world's fourth-biggest steelmaker, said the firm had coal stocks to last up to three months, much higher than in 2008 when there was a similar supply shortage from Australia.Eiji Hayashida, president of JFE Steel Corp, the world's No.5 steelmaker, said the supply crunch had come at a difficult time.

We are not optimistic of the situation. We are worried, particularly because demand for steel products is tight for the time being.Coal buyers like JFE are already talking with other potential suppliers in case Australia's exports are halted for an extended period.Spot coking coal prices have risen around 10 percent to around $250 a tonne in a month as rains hit Australia.

FRESH FLOODS FEARED

Further downstream from the Bowen Basin coal region, more rains are forecast to cause fresh flooding. Flood warnings have been declared for seven river systems, with one swollen river now 6 km (4 miles) wide.Rockhampton mayor, Brad Carter, said it would be two weeks before people could move back into their homes.Residents in the town of St George have built dirt moats to try and stop the floodwaters reaching their homes, but authorities fear 80 percent of the small town will be swamped if the Balonne River reaches a record 14 meters on Saturday.It's started to rain here again. We could get a flood on top of our flood, said Barnaby Joyce, a National party senator who lives in St George.Australia is the world's fourth-largest wheat exporter and the flooding in Queensland, along with heavy rains and earlier flooding across eastern Australia, could mean up to half the national crop -- or about 10 million tonnes -- could be downgraded to animal feed or low-grade milling grains. The floods have halted the transport of all grains in Queensland, said GrainCorp Ltd, the country's largest grain handler. Queensland accounts for about 5 percent of Australia's total wheat output, or around 1 million tonnes.Supply concerns sparked by the waterlogged crop in Australia had helped benchmark U.S. wheat futures to reach a 5-month high, before falling back slightly.The thing we are all very fearful of is that we've only just started our wet season. Egypt's Christians fear new attack on holiday

CAIRO – Egyptian Christians say they fear a repeat attack against their community on Coptic Christmas Eve Thursday despite authorities planning heavy security following a New Year's suicide bombing of a church in Alexandria that killed 21.In response to the threats against the Christians by extremists, Egyptian activists have called on Muslims to form human shields in front of the churches on Christmas Eve as gesture of solidarity with country's Coptic Christian minority, which makes up 10 percent of Egypt's 80 million people.The bombing of the church, the worst act of sectarian violence in the country in a decade, touched off days of demonstrations and riots by the Christians blaming the government for encouraging discrimination and prejudice and not doing enough to protect them.Some Christians have even said they will skip Thursday's Christmas Eve services for fear that there will be more attacks.I had a fight with my mother. She kept saying no churches this year. I wanted to go but my parents are afraid something might happen again, said Karim Monier, a 19-year-old student living in the middle-class neighborhood of Hadayak Helwan in southern Cairo.

Egyptian authorities have beefed up security around many churches all over country, with explosives experts on hand. Armored vehicles will be stationed in main squares in case of emergency.Extremist Islamic websites affiliated with al-Qaida have been circulating lists of Coptic Churches in Egypt and Europe — including the one attacked on New Year's — along with instructions on how to attack them.Blow up the churches while they are celebrating Christmas or any other time when the churches are packed, the statement read.Coptic websites have been worriedly circulating the lists of churches as a warning to their members and several European government have announced they will be increasing security at their own Coptic sites.The threats have sparked a backlash in Egypt, where there have long been sectarian tensions, and numerous groups are pushing for Muslims to guard the churches as human shields.

In reality, anti-globalists and Constitutionalists had nothing to do with the term’s creation (and most of us have decent digs, too). The truth is that mumblings of a New World Order have been floating around various elitist circles for decades, and every once in a while, those mumblings are publicized in the mainstream media. Globalists created the warped ideal; we just point out that it exists. Lately, we haven’t had to try very hard…As most readers here are probably already privy to, elitist spokesman George Soros (who for some reason reminds me of the bloated floating Baron Harkonnen from the movie ‘Dune’) recently let spill all kinds of NWO gossip in a candid interview with the Financial Times. If you have not seen it yet, or you believe only kooks talk about the New World Order, I suggest you watch the below interview twice for good measure:

What is most interesting about this interview is Soros’ focus on the fate of the dollar in the NWO. He openly confirms nearly everything I and many others have been warning about for the past three to four years in the span of only ten minutes! Why would Soros make such admissions? Well, I suspect that some elites believe that they should not have to hide their pet project for a new order from us lowly serfs, while others perhaps have been given the green light to start selling the masses on the supposed benefits of greater centralization. Soros literally tries to paint the collapse of America as necessary, and the devolution of the dollar as healthy, though I doubt that many people will be swayed by his charms. It’s hard to trust a guy that leaves a slime trail…While Soros may not be the best used car salesman on the lemon lot, there are plenty of establishment media lackeys and fraudulent pundits that do have a knack for refining globalist talking points and making them more palatable to the public. What alternative economic analysts are now discovering is that there are actually two economies; the one that the MSM and the government presents, and the one we all actually live in. The year of 2010 was highly representative of this strange developing duality. So many malfunctions in terms of employment, debt, inflation, and bonds (especially municipals), and yet, so much good news pouring out of the networks. This is rather similar to the media frenzy just before the final market plunge of the Great Depression; government reports and mainstream news were overwhelmingly positive, right before the entire system took its last flaming nose dive into the gutter and stayed there for a decade.

If we are to take anything from the recent Soros interview, it would be that the globalists are closing in on their target for the implementation of their new world order, or new economic order, or whatever interchangeable label they happen to be using at the moment. But what does this mean for the rest of us? When George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Henry Kissinger, Nicolas Sarkozy, Vladimir Putin, Gordon Brown, and so many others mention their desire for a New World Order, what exactly are they referring to? In terms of the economy, how will this elitist philosophy change our lives, and our nation? To know our destination, we must first examine the path we are currently on. What have been the results of globalism and centralization so far? What is the most likely next step? Let’s review where the elites have led us up until now, and where they have expressly proclaimed they would like to take us in the future…

Harmonization: The Economic Sucker Punch

Harmonization is a very pleasant sounding term for a very insidious financial practice, and it is also something we will be hearing a lot about if the NWO design is allowed to continue. In order to understand what economic harmonization entails, one should research the mechanics and purpose behind monopolies. Monopolies are formed first and foremost to remove a very particular free-market factor; competition. Competition allows for the organic growth of markets by relying on the general populace to decide which business and financial models work best. Those models that do not pass the social test are ignored and allowed to die away, while those that pass are supported by the public and allowed to carry on. This natural order of commerce is supplanted when the largest suppliers (businesses or countries) form unions, fix prices, and squeeze out smaller entrepreneurs before they find an opportunity to present a superior idea or business model. By removing competition, monopolies take away the citizen’s ability to choose, or to even participate in the economy in any capacity beyond the role of mindless consumer.Global harmonization works in a similar way, except in this case the monopoly is not over a specific product or resource, but the resources of entire continents. Competition among nations is squashed. As in the European Union, more successful countries are forced through unilateral trade agreements to transfer their wealth to faltering nations. Not only this, but the economic policies which once made them more competitive are scrapped and replaced with policies that deliberately stunt national growth. Decisions on what kind of commerce works best are no longer made by the citizenry, and are instead centralized into the hands of a select few. Any state that resists or strives for sovereignty is branded irresponsible, or even dangerous; a threat to the so called balance.

While globalists like Soros maintain that there are long term benefits to harmonization, including a better standard of living for everyone, in effect, harmonization only seems to make all countries equally poor.IMF and World Bank lackeys love to bring up the plight of Africa when peddling harmonization and certainly African countries would benefit temporarily by siphoning capital from richer nations, but ultimately, it is the IMF, World Bank, and the UN that ravaged Africa in the first place with their loan sharking, resource theft, and attempts to interfere with African industrialization in the name of unsupported global warming arguments. (Hey, as soon as NASA or the Climate Research Unit in East Anglia makes the source data for their experiments available to the public instead of copping out and claiming national security privileges, I’m perfectly willing to give them a fair shake.) In the FT interview, Soros boasts about IMF allocations of SDR’s to needy African countries, as if they do it out of the kindness of their hearts. Anyone who has studied the history of the IMF knows that they do not do charity.In the end, dirt poor nations might progress, but never enough to actually prosper, and all at the cost of finding themselves beholden to the IMF. This is the essence of the New World Order. This is the dark side that elitists never openly delve into; total centralization, total poverty, total control, no other options…

Middle-Class Beheaded

In a centralized global economy, financially secure classes of common people become a problem. The less the masses have to worry about everyday survival, the more time they have to question the system’s validity, or its leadership. Therefore, the globalist hierarchy benefits by removing such subsections of the population like the middle-class altogether. This process has already commenced in the midst of the engineered credit crisis, as well as the continued devaluation of the dollar that Soros speaks of so fondly.

One question that no interviewer seems to put to these parasites is, who really needs the New World Order? Who benefits from its proliferation? Certainly not the middle-class, and certainly not the poor. So, who’s left to reap the spoils? Ask Soros. He knows…

Dollar On The Highway To Hell

Not to harp about the past, but in 2007/2008, stating that China was going to drop the dollar and dump Treasuries while converting to a consumer based economy causing the greenback to lose its world reserve status while the IMF introduced SDR’s as the new global currency did not exactly win me any respect in financial circles. I still get arguments from devout deflationists and random green-shoots proponents on occasion. Now, here’s George Soros TELLING YOU, for the most part, what is going to happen to the dollar, and sounding a lot like Neithercorp. It’s enough to give me the heebie jeebies.Soros mentions the pending bilateral trade agreements being used by China to rout the dollar in Brazil and Argentina, but for some reason fails to point out Russia’s agreement to abandon the Greenback. He also fails to mention China’s numerous interest rate hikes or increased bank allocations which have utterly failed to stem inflation, leaving the government with only one other option; dump U.S Treasuries, allowing the Yuan to quickly appreciate giving Chinese consumers greater buying power to compete with rising prices. All that’s left is for our Treasury Dept. to finally release that delayed report accusing China of currency manipulation. Retaliation ensues, and down goes the dollar.It’s not a question of IF this will happen, but WHEN? How long can the dollar truly hold out while interest rates remain at near zero, the private Federal Reserve continues its QE2 madness, and our national debt continues to grow beyond all imagining? Something has to give, and that something will be the rest of the world’s patience with the dollar.

Stall tactics are beginning to lose their effect. Rumors yesterday of a possible Fed rate hike did cause quite a stir, and even hit commodities, but frankly, I’ll believe that when I see it. A meaningful rate hike would make the Fed’s quantitative easing programs pretty difficult to pursue and knock the wind out of the Dow, considering the only thing propping up the whole farce is the constant flow of cheap fiat. When the central bankers turn to interest rate gossip to keep investors smitten with the dollar, it might be time to question whether or not foreign banks may be preparing for a policy change concerning U.S. Treasuries soon. This is, of course, all by design.The bottom line is that the dollar has no place in the NWO. Soros admits it. Most other globalists have openly demanded it. I think in this case, they aren’t just feeding us propaganda.

Global Currency, Global Government, No More Fairytales

With all the talk in the MSM of global currency lately, I still have yet to see a viable argument for its usefulness. Just as with globalism, no real debate is pursued on global currency, only the presumption that such a step is inevitable. Sorry, but globalism is not inevitable, and neither is the rise of Special Drawing Rights (SDR’s). These are economic tools and methods which are enacted by a relatively small group of men. They are not universal laws of physics handed down by the gods.A global currency changes nothing in terms of the problems already associated with our current collapse. It definitely doesn’t make anything better. While the IMF does claim to have ample gold reserves to back the SDR, almost every new paper currency starts out backed by PM’s or some other resource. The problem is that every currency under the control of central bankers and not the people ends up losing all tangible backing and becomes yet another fiat prison. The only purpose behind a global currency would be to streamline the centralization process; to perpetuate the psychology of globalism in the masses, making the construction of global government easier to introduce.Would global government be as wondrous and as Utopian as it is always presented? Will we finally get our Star Trek uniforms and flying cars? Not a chance. Global governance will not be Utopia; not under men like Soros, and certainly not under the IMF. The promise of paradise has always been used to make people do stupid and horrible things, from the Assasseens of Iran spoken of by Marco Polo, to the Russian communist disaster of Lenin and Stalin, and beyond. Blind collectivism and feudalism has never led to peace, prosperity, wisdom, or spaceships propelled by dilithium crystals. What it HAS led to, consistently, is death, destruction, mayhem, and sometimes the loss of entire chapters of human knowledge. It leads not to enlightenment, but to the dark ages.

Once a system like this is instituted, its hold over younger generations is vicious. We have all grown up in the midst of the globalist experiment, and while many of us have broken free mentally, we still have never experienced life without the constant poison of elitist politics and prattle. Imagine a colonialist from the American Revolution visiting our time and witnessing all the freedoms, cultural and economic, that were stolen away from us before we were ever born. They would shriek in absolute horror and run for their musket!There is a certain innocence and a certain joy inherent in true freedom, not just freedom of the mind as we have so far settled for today, but freedom of daily life. To live without someone always out to dominate you or your family; that is something I would like one day to witness, or at the very least make possible for tomorrow’s Americans. If the NWO is not confronted and dismantled, who knows how long it will be before another common man thrives free.

Breaking The Circle, Starting Anew

Stopping the advancement of the New World Order, at least in terms of economics, does not require a magic bullet scheme, a busload of lawyers, or even an audit of the Federal Reserve (though one would be nice). What it does require, is an alternative. Do most Americans participate in the corrupt establishment system because they like it? No. They participate because they feel there are no other viable options, and since very few government officials seem to be coming forward with said options, there is nothing to do but build a better system for ourselves.
This means average people starting their own alternative economies in their own communities based on trade, barter, and sound money (precious metals), in conjunction with fiat until the bottom finally falls out of the dollar. It means cutting down the weekly trips to Walmart and buying as many goods as you can from local Liberty Movement based providers. It means setting up statewide networks of micro-industries, farm and garden co-ops, and gold and silver distributors, and turning away from the NWO completely. It means a return to true free markets owned and operated by the people, without any interference from corporations or government.

If they want a centralized economy, then we decentralize the economy. If they want to break up legitimate community, then we support legitimate community. If they want to break down 10th Amendment rights, then we support the Constitutional imperative of the states to determine their own internal matters. If they want us to rely solely on the dollar, then we convert our dollars to gold and silver, and trade with each other. Neithercorp is now working on a project with Oathkeepers which we believe will make these alternatives a reality.If anything is going to turn for the better, ever, that change is going to start with regular people. There is no other way around it. When the colonies of the American Revolution rebelled against the British Empire, they did so first by dumping the corrupt British economic system, and setting up their own free markets. They did not just declare independence; they took concrete actions which removed their dependency on their enemy. They forced the British to choose; accept that the colonies had their own system and move on, or attack the colonies, try to force them to conform, and expose British tyranny for all the world to see. The British chose the latter, bit off more than they could chew, and the rest is history. The point is that the colonists created a win-win scenario. We must do the same.Some might claim that times have changed and circumstances are different, but this is irrelevant. The concept still applies, and is actually in use by the Liberty Movement already. The alternative media is a perfect example of how offering a better option to the public can destroy a controlled mainstream system, like that of the MSM. Their numbers are plummeting, while ours are skyrocketing. They are becoming obsolete, while we become more necessary. And all we had to do was offer the truth, and free participation. Imagine that…

As Soros points out in the FT interview, now is the time to act. We know what the globalists plan to do to our currency and our economy, so why wait around for the leaky ship to sink when we could be using that time to build a better boat? Now, it is our turn to act. We must set the pace. We must take matters into our own hands, before someone else makes the important decisions for us. We must determine our own destinies.
