Serious differences of opinion have erupted in Kadima over the possibility that the agreement of principles Israel is now negotiating with the Palestinians will determine the final-status deal on Jerusalem. Seven years after the Camp David summit in 2000 and the cabinet's subsequent decision to adopt, with reservations, then U.S. president Bill Clinton's plan to divide the capital, no one in Kadima is asking if Jerusalem will be redivided. The only question is how it will be redivided. Vice Premier Haim Ramon is promoting a plan to Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayad in which almost all Palestinian neighborhoods of East Jerusalem would be subtracted from the Israeli city and become part of a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem. The areas inhabited by Jews, including the new neighborhoods south, north and east of the Green Line that divided the city until 1967, will remain under Israel's jurisdiction. The plan would also divide the Old City between Israeli and Palestinian sovereignty, with the Muslim and Christian Quarters under Palestinian rule, and the Armenian and Jewish Quarters under Israeli rule. Sovereignty over the Temple Mount would be divided between Palestinians and Jews as well.

Ramon proposes handing over three neighborhoods soon after the agreement of principles is signed, if Israel is convinced that the Palestinian Authority can control them: Shuafat, in northern Jerusalem, near Pisgat Ze'ev and Atarot; Suahra, on the edge of the Judean desert; and Wallijeh, a village near the Massuah neighborhood overlooking the railway to Tel Aviv. In recent weeks, however, a counter-coalition inside Kadima has sprung up, headed by MK Otniel Schneller. Schneller is unwilling to give up Israeli sovereignty over the Old City and the Temple Mount, but will accept religious management of the holy sites. He is also willing to give up neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city - mostly to the north, such as Al-Ram, Qalandiyah and Kafr Akeb (most of which are already outside the separation fence) - as well as parts of a few other neighborhoods. However, Schneller stays away from calling his plan division. He will not accept any substantial concession on the Temple Mount and demands that in the final Jerusalem arrangement, space be allocated on the Temple Mount for Jewish prayer - a demand former prime minister Ehud Barak raised at Camp David in 2000. Schneller believes that decisions about the future of Jerusalem should be made by representatives of the entire Jewish people, not just the Israeli public. He also believes that if the Ramon plan is adopted, Kadima will disintegrate, as many parliamentarians will be unable to support it. Kadima's mayoral candidate in the capital, businessman Nir Barkat, has already said that he is considering leaving the party due to the Ramon plan. Barkat wrote to Ramon this week saying that he had not been authorized by either the government or the party to propose plans on Jerusalem, and that Jerusalem and the rest of the country are entitled to know if this is the new Kadima position, and whether Ramon is acting on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's authority.

That, in a nutshell, is the key question: What does Olmert think? Back when he was mayor of Jerusalem, Olmert rejected any proposal for division - of the Temple Mount, the Old City or East Jerusalem as a whole. But Olmert is remaining mum, and his associates say that Ramon has permission but not authority. Many politicians believe this obscurantist formula means that Olmert is using Ramon's plan as a trial balloon. If it does not explode, Olmert is likely to adopt large sections of the plan. The battle inside Kadima over whether Jerusalem will be divided has already been decided. The question now is how - and also whether the party, as Ramon has, will call the spade a spade: division.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The leader of Russia's Communist Party accused President Vladimir Putin on Saturday of piling up vast powers and said the Kremlin's main party represented billionaires rather than ordinary people. He (President Vladimir Putin) has more power today than the Pharaoh of Egypt, the Tsar, and the Soviet Union's General Secretary combined, veteran Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov told a party congress on the outskirts of Moscow.He has four times more power than the quite powerful president of the United States, said Zyuganov, whose party is the country's number two political force with 162,000 members.Zyuganov said his party, the successor to the all-powerful Soviet Communists, hoped to win at least a fifth of seats in elections this December for the State Duma (lower house of parliament). It currently has just over 10 percent of deputies.The Duma is dominated by United Russia, a party patronized by Putin, which enjoys a two-thirds majority.

Zyuganov said he was the only real opponent of the Kremlin and added he was gaining new supporters as voters were getting bored with unfulfilled promises from United Russia, which he said represented the rich, with over 30 billionaires among its Duma members.They (United Russia) have billionaires. We have millions (of supporters) behind us, he added.The December elections will be closely watched as a dress rehearsal for a presidential vote next March.The most recent poll by the independent Yuri Levada Centre showed this week that the Communists could gain 18 percent of seats in December, while United Russia would secure 55 percent.Another pro-Kremlin party, Fair Russia, would get seven percent and the nationalist LDPR, which often votes with the government, would gain 11 percent.The Communists used to dominate the Duma in the 1990s during the turbulent years of Boris Yeltsin's presidency.But as Russia's oil-fuelled economy booms, the Communists face a tough political challenge to win back popularity.The Communists have complained they are not getting a fair share of airtime on television, which is dominated by pro-Kremlin parties. However Putin met Zyuganov this week to discuss the elections and Zyuganov's Saturday speech was aired live on the state television channel Vesti-24.

Zyuganov said the mood in the Communists' camp had been lifted by wins this year in regional elections, which he said had shown that the dominance of United Russia can be broken.In (the east Siberian region of) Krasnoyarsk, where the results usually coincide with the whole country, we had 20-22 percent. And in some regions we had over 30 percent. Zyuganov did not run for president in 2004 when Putin was re-elected by more than 70 percent of votes. The outspoken Communist did not say if he would run for president in March 2008, when Putin must step down after two consecutive terms. FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - The European Union should consider buying large amounts of US dollars in an effort to prop up the currency and limit negative effects of strong euro on growth rates and job losses, said Peter Bofinger, a member of the German government's five wise men panel of economic advisors. Bofinger told Spiegel magazine that while the European Central Bank is traditionally against intervention to influence exchange rates and is almost solely interested in inflation rates, the full independence (of the ECB) is only binding for interest rate decisions. According to EU regulations, the advisors to the ECB could target a general orientation for foreign currency rates as long as it does not interfere with the central bank's overriding goal of price stability, the magazine said. The exchange rate is not some natural phenomenon that we must look on with rigid horror, without acting, Bofinger said.

On Friday, the dollar slumped to a fresh all-time low against the euro, sending the single currency above 1.41 usd briefly. The dollar has been under pressure ever since the Fed delivered a a hefty half point rate reduction on Tuesday, taking the base rate to 4.75 pct. Numbers 10:9 - When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the shofars. Then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.

Israel has entered into this years Fall Feast season, (Yom Ha Truah / Feast of Trumpets, Yom Kippur / Day of Atonement, Succot / Feast of Tabernacles) a time of reflection, repentance and rejoicing. However we have also entered into a solemn time of pending war with our surrounding enemies. Also we still have a corrupt and godless Government that continues to grow weaker and is drowning under the spell and control of the USA, as they pressure and manipulate the leaders of our Government to give back land, to declare and implement a Palestinian State. They also plan to give back at least half of Jerusalem, evacuate 250,000 Jews from their West Bank homes in the very close future (November is the set date), and to allow 3 million Arabs to enter into Israel .

The God of Israel has always called upon one man and a remnant of people to stand in the gap on behalf of Israel. In the days of old, He called upon Moses, Daniel, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Habakkuk, Ezra and many others to intercede for His people and His nation, Israel. If we read the history in the Tenach, we see that God heard and answered those intercessors as they stood in the gap and pleaded before the God of Israel to deliver, save, and redeem Israel from her enemies. We, Intercessors for the Restoration of Israel, and thousands of other intercessors in Israel and around the world, are the God of Israel's intercessors for today. And today for Israel, it is as crucial as it was in the time of Moses, as he stood at the edge of the Red Sea with nowhere to go, the ocean before him and the enemies of Israel banking up behind him. It is a time for Israel to stand firm on the promises of God and to look to no one else but Him to deliver us.

Moses looked up, prayed, held up his sceptor and a miracle happened - we all know the story.

We have our sceptor for today, the Word of the Lord. As we look up to our God, I want to ask all of you that are on our intercessory prayer team, to please come before the God of Israel daily. Our intercessions can avert the plans of man and change the hearts of kings (Prime Ministers, Presidents, those in leadership) - All thru the Tenach, it shows us how the God of Israel changed the hearts of the leaders of Israel's enemies at that time to suit His plans and purposes for Israel and to deal with Israel's enemies. - e.g. Pharoah, Cyrus King of Persia, the enemies in Joshua's day, Sennacherib the Philistines, Goliath, and many others. Instead, he hopes to have a joint declaration of intentions ready in time for the international Middle East summit two months from now. The weekly Makor Rishon newspaper reported ten days ago that Olmert was working on a new approach - one that would obligate Israel even if the summit itself - sponsored and promoted by the United States - does not produce an agreement. Olmert was striving to reach a document of principles on which he and Abu Mazen would agree to use as the basis for their future negotiations. Such principles, Makor Rishon reported, included the following:
the division of Jerusalem into Jewish and Arab cities, and the removal of Israel's sovereignty from the Temple Mount. (As Mayor of Jerusalem in the 1990s, Olmert earned much political capital when he accused his political rival, then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak, of wanting to divide Jerusalem.)

the establishment of a Palestinian state on approximately 95% of Judea and Samaria
border changes - i.e., a hand-over of other Israeli territory to make up for three settlement blocs (Ariel, Maaleh Adumim, Gush Etzion) that is to remain in Israeli hands.

Israel's declarative assumption of responsibility for the formation of the Arab refugee problem of 1948, though without operative ramifications Makor Rishon reported that it was unclear whether the PA had agreed to Israel's cardinal demand that the agreement would represent the end of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Another version of the above was published by the PA's Maan news agency last week, and included the clause that the evacuation of Judea and Samaria would begin immediately after the summit - just two months from now. However, this version was denied by both Israel and the PA.

Olmert has said that he will bring any agreement he reaches with Abbas to the government for its approval, and that the Knesset can ask to debate the issue as well. He did not say whether Knesset approval would be necessary. On the other hand, it is known that Olmert worked to keep the negotiations as secret as possible, hoping to avoid any public discourse and debate. For this reason, no rough copies or interim documents were formulated.

Pray that Olmert will be totally changed or removed from his place of power and authority in this nation - and that God will appoint His appointed shepherd/s that He promised in Jeremiah 3

Pray that Bush's, Olmert's and Abbas's plans of darkness will be brought into the light

Pray that our northern border especially, but also the southern border, will be angelically and supernaturally protected.

Pray that the God of Israel will not allow Israel to agree to a Palestinian state in His land.

Pray that what our enemies have prepared for Israel, will return back on their own heads.

Pray that whatever happens here in the land of Israel, He will use it for His plans and purposes to work in the lives of His people, to turn to Him to bring repentance, and call upon Him

Please also remember to pray daily for our IDF - including our son Jordan and his best friend Avi, who are both in combat units. Most of the IDF have been doing full scale simulation war drills over the last few months in preparedness for war and are all on high alert in northern Israel, but also in the West Bank area.

Pray that the Lord will reveal to our IDF intelligence any enemy plans - Pray that our IDF leaders will be given great wisdom and strategy, pray for success in ALL missions - air and ground.

At 9:30 we shall march to the Hulda Gates located on the Southern Wall of the Temple Mount, calling the Israeli Government to immediately open these holy gates which were the main entrance of millions of Israelis in the biblical times and were named for the great prophetess Hulda who prophesied in the First Temple age. In this holy place we shall also demonstrate against the pressure coming from President Bush and Condoleezza Rice on Israel to give away the Temple Mount and the sovereignty of Israel in this most holy place of Israel to the so called “Palestinian Authorities” and to put on the Dome of the Rock, the location of the Holy of Holies of the Temple, a “Palestinian “ flag. As it looks the weak Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, is going to surrender to this pressure. These terrible evil plans also include the division of Jerusalem , the eternal capitol of Israel and to found a “Palestinian” capitol in the biblical Jerusalem , the City of David, that will be the capitol of a “Palestinian” state that they together plan to found in the most biblical areas of the land of Israel, in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.

These anti-godly evil plans are a terrible revolt against G-d who gave the land of Israel to His chosen people Israel for a purpose and to be the land where He Himself will dwell among His people Israel. He chose Jerusalem to be His capitol and the eternal capitol of His people Israel . Thousands of years ago He chose and anointed Mount Moriah, the Temple Mount, to be His holy hill where His people Israel will build for Him the holy Temple where He will dwell among His people exactly as He commanded them: “Build me a Temple and I will dwell among you” (Exodus 25:8). On this holy hill existed the First Temple of G-d, built by King Solomon 3,000 years ago that was destroyed by the Babylonians in the year 586 BCE and the Second Temple built in 516 BCE and destroyed by the Romans in the year 70 CE. Now the G–d of Israel is expecting and calling His people Israel to immediately build the Third Temple so that He can again dwell among His people Israel and among all His creation, as the prophet Isaiah prophesied: “My house will be a house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 2: 1-5 and Isaiah 56: 5&7).

The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement will demonstrate mainly against the Prime Minister of Israel and his anti-godly and anti-Israeli plans. It never before happened that an Israeli leader will give away the Temple Mount, the biblical Jerusalem and the holy land of Israel to foreigners and enemies of the G–d and the people of Israel like the evil cruel so called “Palestinians” that invaded the land of Israel and are for more than 100 years making wars against the people of G-d with one intention and goal: To make it another Islamic country and state. It is a shame and a tragedy which never happened in the 4,000 year history of the people of G-d. And I am aware of the judgement of G-d that will come on all the partners of these evil plans and their nations. Tens of millions of Jews gave their lives to protect the Temple Mount of G-d, Jerusalem and the holy land of Israel or when they fought to liberate these holy places from foreign evil control. The G–d and the people of Israel will not allow it now to happen especially after the G–d of Israel regathered His people back to the land of Israel from all the corners of the world, reestablished for them the Kingdom of Israel and His Kingdom in the holy land, made Jerusalem again the eternal capitol of Himself and Israel and in 1967 returned the biblical Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to Israel to immediately rebuild His holy Temple. All these end-time godly events were a part of G-d’s plan to redeem Israel and through Israel to redeem all the world. The Temple Mount Faithful Movement will very clearly state and swear in front of the holy hill of G-d that they will give their lives to avoid this evil and criminal plans. We shall swear like our forefathers: “If I will forget you Jerusalem I will forget my right hand...” and that the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the holy land of Israel will never fall again and that from here we shall never move and again be taken from.

After the demonstration in front of the Hulda Gates of the Temple Mount we shall march with the Israeli flags with the Star of David to the ancient City of David calling the people of Israel not to allow Olmert to divide Jerusalem and the holy land of Israel and to bring to pass this terrible crime of giving away the Temple Mount, the heart and the soul of Israel, to the most cruel enemies of the G–d and the people of Israel. At the end of this march we shall arrive at the ancient Siloam Pool that was just recently discovered where we shall make the traditional ceremony of the “Beit Shoevah Celebration” and “Nisuch HaMay’im” ceremony, exactly as our forefathers did when the Temple existed. They used to pull the water with prayers for a blessed year with rains and to pour the holy water on the alter in the Temple together with exciting thank prayers to the G–d of Israel for the blessings that He poured on His people Israel and the land that He gave them.

This is going to be a major godly and important event which will bring to the attention of everyone the godly significance of this special time that we are experiencing now and expectations of the G–d of Israel from His people to keep and protect the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and the holy land that He gave them from any dangerous evil plans. We are going on Sukkot to the Temple Mount and the City of David to protect the heart and the soul of te G-d and the people Israel and all the world and to save the holy location of the Temple from evil pagan hands. We are going to call the people of Israel and her friends all over the world to remove the enemy from the holy Temple Mount of G-d and to immediately rebuild the Temple as G-d is calling us to do.

Everyone is called to participate in this major event of the Temple Mount Faithful Movement and to be a part of a major historical event that will be an important stage and step towards the rebuilding of the Temple and the completion of G-d’s end-time plans. MIAMI - Subtropical Storm Jerry formed Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean but posed no immediate threat to land, the National Hurricane Center said. As of 5 p.m., Jerry was located about 1,060 miles west of the Azores, with top sustained winds near 40 mph.Forecasters said the storm was moving north around 6 mph and is expected to remain over open waters, far west of the Azores.Subtropical storms are hybrid systems that get energy from warm waters like tropical ones, but also from colliding warm and cold air masses like more common storms over land.Jerry is the 10th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season. Its winds extended outward about 105 miles.

In the Pacific, Ivo was downgraded from a tropical storm to a depression early Sunday, the Hurricane Center said.At 2 p.m. EDT, the center of Ivo was about 95 miles southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula and moving east-northeast at 4 mph.The depression — which had maximum sustained winds of 30 mph — is expected to pass over or near the southern tip of Baja near the resort cities of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, a region that was hit early this month by Hurricane Henriette. Rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is forecast for the area.

Brussels raps Spain over Endesa SEPT 22,07

Spain has 30 days to respond to the allegations regarding Endesa

Spain broke EU law by imposing terms on the purchase of energy company Endesa by peers Enel of Italy and Spain's Acciona, the European Commission says. In a preliminary finding Brussels said it believed Madrid broke takeover laws when it imposed protectionist terms. Spain's energy commission had wanted to intervene if it believed the new owners of the firm were not acting in the best interests of Spanish energy users. The Commission approved the 42.5bn euro ($60bn; £30bn) deal on 5 July.

It also said it had sole jurisdiction over the deal.

But Spain's National Energy Commission had imposed conditions on 26 April and 4 July, breaching the buyers' rights. The European Commission said its preliminary view was the Spanish energy commission, CNE, violated the companies' rights to invest, set up a business and move goods anywhere in the 27-state community. Spain has 30 days to defend itself before the EU takes a final decision that would overrule Spanish decisions. Enel's deal with Acciona for Endesa expires on 1 October. A rival bid by German firm E.On collapsed in April.

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran on Saturday showed off a longer-range missile in public for the first time and proclaimed a string of anti-Israel slogans, in a military parade held amid warnings of conflict with the West. The missile -- labelled Ghadr-1 (Power) -- was said to be in development by Western experts, but its appearance at the annual military parade to mark the start of Iran's 1980-1988 war with Iraq was its first public showing.The official announcer at the parade told reporters that the weapon had a range of 1,800 kilometres (1,100 miles), sufficient to put US bases in the Middle East and Iran's arch enemy Israel within reach.The Iranian nation is ready to bring any oppressive power to its knees, read a slogan from supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei inscribed on a massive board on a truck.

The head of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Jaafari, warned bluntly: My message to the enemy is that they will regret it (an attack). Do not do it.The Ghadr missile, which has a baby bottle style nose for extra aerodynamic efficiency, is seen as an improved version of Iran's existing longer-range Shahab series, which was also paraded.Officials have said in the past that the Shahab-3 could reach 2,000 kilometres (1,250 miles), but the announcer said it had a 1,300-kilometre (800-mile) range.The parade was marked by a litany of slogans calling for Death to America and Death to Israel. Our message to the enemies is: Do not do it, the head of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, Mohammad Ali Jafari, said, speaking to reporters less than a week after France's foreign minister publicly raised the prospect of war.They will regret it, as they are regretting it in Iraq, the commander added, speaking on the sidelines of an annual military parade just outside the capital.The Islamic Republic put on show medium-range missiles it has said could reach Israel and U.S. bases in the Gulf at the parade marking the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war.Three Saegheh jet fighters, a new generation of domestically produced, flew overhead.Iran is embroiled in a standoff with the West over its atomic ambition, which the United States says is to make bombs but which Tehran says is solely for generating electricity.Washington has said it wants a diplomatic resolution to the dispute but has not ruled out military action if that fails.French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner last Sunday raised the specter of war, but has since backed away from the comment.Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil producer, has threatened to hit back at regional U.S. interests if attacked.

U.N. SANCTIONS

Jafari's words of defiance came a day after major powers, meeting in Washington, said they had serious and constructive talks about new U.N. Security Council sanctions aimed at trying to force Iran to halt its sensitive nuclear program.The officials of the five permanent Security Council members and Germany said they will keep pursuing a dual track approach to Iran -- trying to persuade it to abandon such activities via negotiations while considering new sanctions.Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, addressing the parade, made clear Tehran would not bow to Western pressure.Those who think, that by using such decayed tools as psychological warfare and economic sanctions, they can stop the Iranian nation's progress are making a mistake, he said.The Islamic Republic showed among its weaponry a type of missile it has said could reach 2,000 km (1,250 miles) -- enabling it to hit Israel and U.S. bases in the region.But the television commentator said Shahab-3 had a range of 1,300 km (812 miles). Another missile at the parade, Ghadr-1, can reach targets 1,800 km (1,125 miles) away, he said. BAGHDAD - The U.S. military accused Iran on Sunday of smuggling surface-to-air missiles and other advanced weapons into Iraq for use against American troops. The new allegations came as Iraqi leaders condemned the latest U.S. detention of an Iranian in northern Iraq, saying the man was in their country on official business.
Military spokesman Rear Adm. Mark Fox said U.S. troops were continuing to find Iranian-supplied weaponry including the Misagh 1, a portable surface-to-air missile that uses an infrared guidance system.Other advanced Iranian weaponry found in Iraq includes the RPG-29 rocket-propelled grenade, 240 mm rockets and armor-piercing roadside bombs known as explosively formed penetrators, or EFPs, Fox said.An American soldier was killed Saturday and another wounded when an EFP hit their patrol in eastern Baghdad, the military said.Iran has denied U.S. allegations that it is smuggling weapons to Shiite militias in Iraq, a denial that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated in an interview with CBS' 60 Minutes aired Sunday.

The U.S. military said the suspect was being questioned about his knowledge of, and involvement in, the transportation of EFPs and other roadside bombs from Iran into Iraq and his facilitation of travel and training in Iran for Iraqi insurgents. The military said no decision had been made about whether to file charges.Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said Farhadi was in charge of border transactions in western Iran and went to Iraq on an official invitation.He said Iran expects the Iraqi government to provide security for Iranian nationals there and warned the arrest could affect relations between the two neighbors as well.
Iraqi authorities, meanwhile, said a shipment of chlorine had crossed the border from Jordan after concerns were raised about shortages of the chemical needed to prevent an outbreak of cholera from spreading.Officials said earlier that as much as 100,000 tons of chlorine was being held up at the border for fear it would be hijacked and used in explosives. Several chlorine truck bombs blamed on suspected Sunni insurgents earlier this year killed scores of people. Naeem al-Qabi, the deputy chief of Baghdad's municipal council, said warehouses in the capital were preparing to accept the chlorine, which would help purify water supplies.

There is some administrative work needed to be done and it will be finished very soon, al-Qabi said. Iraq now has a total of 1,652 confirmed cases of cholera after three new cases were confirmed in Salahuddin province, according to an update on the World Health Organization's Web site on Sunday. Earlier, cholera was confirmed in the provinces of Sulaimaniyah, Tamim and Irbil, as well as a case each in Baghdad and in Basra. As the weather cools and becomes more favorable for transmission, the organism is expected to spread to other provinces, the WHO's country office in Iraq said on its Web site. Cholera is endemic to Iraq, with about 30 cases registered each year. The last major outbreak was in 1999, when 20 cases were discovered in one day. Also Sunday, Iraq's minister of state for national security, Sherwan al-Waili, took over the security operations center in Basra as tensions rose in the southern city following the assassination of a local representative of Iraq's top Shiite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. The region has been rocked by violence between rival Shiite militias linked to political parties, raising concerns about security as the British military has pulled back its troops from the city center to a nearby airport to allow Iraqi security forces to take over. Al-Waili told reporters that he will temporarily head the operations center until a new security plan is implemented very soon in the city, 340 miles southeast of Baghdad.

For years, it has been obvious that Iran is a chief source of Middle East instability and a grave threat to Israel. Iran funds Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon and supports terrorists killing U.S. troops in Iraq, as well as the Hamas regime that has turned Gaza into a Muslim fundamentalist state.Anti-Israel, anti-Western statements from Iran are becoming more and more ominous. Earlier this week, an Iranian news website affiliated with the regime reported, Iran will shoot 600 missiles at Israel if it is attacked, and promised that U.S. Army bases and troops throughout the Middle East are also targeted.At the same time, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ratcheted up the warlike rhetoric that has become his hallmark. Recently he called Israel Satan’s standard-bearer and promised the use of Iranian nuclear technology to any nation or group willing to confront the U.S. and the West. This volatile combination of hatred, poisonous religious fanaticism, and the pursuit of weapons of mass destruction points to the central question facing peace-loving nations at this critical time in history: Does the free world have the option of waiting to find out whether Ahmadinejad is willing and able to carry out his threats?

Incredibly, despite Iran’s deliberate and well-documented attempts to create chaos, fear and instability, Ahmadinejad will speak before the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York next week. It is especially outrageous that the president of a nation who has openly called for the destruction of another U.N. member state will be welcomed to speak before an organization that claims one of its goals is to encourage nations “to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbors.” Clearly, tolerance and peaceful coexistence are not on Iran’s agenda.Ahmadinejad has spoken at the U.N. twice before, and on each occasion thousands of people have gathered there to protest his hateful stance against Israel and the West. There will be a rally again on Monday, and if you are in the New York area, I strongly encourage you to attend.If you cannot come to the rally, we have made it easy for your voice to be heard. I strongly encourage you to send a message to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations, telling him that, until Iran disavows its hateful ideology, its representatives should not be allowed to speak before any gathering of civilized nations. Israeli archeologists ordered out of court hearing

A group of Israeli archeologists and public officials who petitioned the High Court of Justice against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the Antiquities Authority over ongoing Wakf infrastructure work on the Temple Mount were ordered out of the courtroom during a hearing Thursday, an archeologist said. The members of the nonpartisan Committee Against the Destruction of Antiquities on the Temple Mount had to leave the courtroom while the state-run archeological body presented secret evidence to the court. It is more than clear that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has instructed the Antiquities Authority to cooperate with the Wakf and conceal the damage to antiquities being done during the infrastructure work at the site, said Hebrew University archeologist and leading Temple Mount expert Dr. Eilat Mazar.

The two-month old dig on the Temple Mount is being carried out by Islamic officials with Israeli approval as part of infrastructure work to repair faulty electrical lines on the ancient compound. The independent Israeli archeologists say that the dig, which is being carried out with tractors and other heavy construction machinery, has created a 400-meter long and 1.5 meter deep trench, destroying several layers of ancient remains on the Temple Mount.

The head of a pro-Israel ministry says that recent air strikes, by Israel on Syria, could possibly mean the soon fulfillment of an Old Testament prophecy about Damascus.
Jan Markell is founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries. She has read the reports about the September 6 strike by Israeli jets on what is believed to have been a substantial target inside Syria, even though both the Syrians and the Israelis are not divulging any details of the attack.Markell says she wonders about the prophetic words in Isaiah 17:1, Damascus is to be leveled to become a ruinous heap. Not anything can live in it again. Now that's never happened, she says.

She says with Syria trying to obtain nuclear weapons, the words of Isaiah 17:1 loom even larger. If Syria ever lobs any kind of a nuke into Israel, I believe Israel will respond in kind and depending on the seriousness of the whole situation could fulfill Isaiah 17:1, the complete destruction of Damascus, she states. According to Markell, Damascus is one of the oldest cities in the world and has never experienced complete destruction. BERLIN - NATO is backing away from establishing a combat force that would be capable of moving rapidly into conflict areas because it lacks the money, the troops and the equipment, officials said yesterday.NATO's decision to rethink the so-called Response Force is a blow for the 26-member alliance, which was seeking a way to alter a cumbersome and reactive organization of the Cold War era to field flexible units capable of being deployed within days to carry out a range of operations, including counter-terrorism.While NATO has changed significantly in recent years - seen in its involvement in combat in Afghanistan, for example - the way missions are financed and military equipment is procured has lagged.Moreover, analysts said, the future of the Response Force could send a signal to the European Union, which is establishing its own battle groups - units of about 1,500 troops that could be sent to a conflict zone within 10 days.

We are having trouble generating forces for all the missions that NATO, the EU, the UN and others need for missions around the world, said James Appathurai, the alliance's spokesman. The scope and size of the NATO response force would be reassessed, he said.First proposed by Donald Rumsfeld in 2002, when he was the US defense secretary, the NATO Response Force was to consist of 25,000 soldiers serving on six-month rotations. Groups of countries would commit land, air, naval, or special forces for this duration.But some member states began to complain that the burden was too heavy and too costly because their own forces were assigned to the NATO missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo; the US-led coalition in Iraq; and the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.

Tomas Valasek, a defense specialist at the Center for European Reform, a research institute in London, said: NATO has a problem that affects the EU as well. There are simply not enough troops. NATO is asking member states to sign up to the Response Force at a time when more troops are needed for Afghanistan. NATO has hit a ceiling. The Response Force is a luxury member states cannot afford.The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has sent 40,000 soldiers to Afghanistan and 17,000 are still in Kosovo, nine years after the alliance deployed troops to the Serbian province. (NATO air forces bombed Serbia to stop Slobodan Milosevic's ethnic cleansing of Albanians in Kosovo.)Alliance officials said the Response Force lacked attack helicopters and heavy air transport. A mission needs logistics, transport, field hospitals, and at least treble the number of forces because the soldiers have to be rotated, a NATO official said.

The shortcomings are almost identical in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.That remains the case despite repeated calls by the NATO secretary general, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, for alliance nations to send more troops and equipment, particularly to the south of the country, where NATO is engaged in heavy fighting with Taliban and Al Qaeda insurgents.The alliance also has had problems financing the Response Force and other missions. A NATO country that sends troops to an international peacekeeping force is obliged to pay for the troops under the system of costs lie where they fall. That is a heavy burden for countries that contribute large numbers of troops. Britain, Canada, and the Netherlands, for example, have sent the most soldiers to southern Afghanistan.De Hoop Scheffer has tried to change way such missions are financed: All nations, he suggests, should pay even if they did not send troops. Progress has been very slow, NATO diplomats said.
NATO should reform the way operations are financed, Valasek said. There should be much more common funding.

UNITED NATIONS - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday that key Arab nations, including Syria, would be invited to President Bush's planned Mideast peace conference this fall and expressed hope they would attend. Formal invitations haven't been issued yet but Rice said it would be natural for Syria, Saudi Arabia and 10 other Arab League members looking at a broad peace deal with Israel to participate despite their hostility to the Jewish state.It is very important that the regional players of the international community mobilize to support them, she said, referring to the Israelis and the Palestinians.But, she said their attendance would have to reflect acceptance of international efforts to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and support for the ultimate goal of a two-state solution and comprehensive regional peace agreement.We would hope that the invitations would include the members of the Arab follow-up committee, Rice told a news conference here after a meeting of the international diplomatic Quartet on the Middle East — the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia.Aside from the Palestinians and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, the committee members are Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.Only two of the countries, Egypt and Jordan, have peace deals with Israel and some, notably Syria, remain technically at war with the Jewish state. Earlier this month, Israel is alleged to have launched an airstrike on what some reports have said was a North Korean nuclear facility in Syria.

The United States has long been concerned about Syrian development of weapons of mass destruction and has harshly criticized Syria for its consistent anti-Israel stance, support for Palestinian militants and its role in Lebanon where Damascus is accused of interference.Rice did not speak to the appropriateness of inviting Syria to the as-yet unscheduled conference that Bush announced plans for in July and is expected to be held in Washington in November. She said that attendance has to be a commitment to supporting a two-state solution and agreement that the chance to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one that we should not miss.Many Arab states have said they see no use for Bush's conference unless it has clear goals and a realistic chance of meeting them. PARIS (Reuters) - Fear is still affecting world financial markets, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said in an interview released on Sunday in which he also backed France's candidate to head the IMF. Greenspan told newspaper Le Figaro that the current financial market turmoil bore many of the hallmarks of the 1997-1998 crisis in Asian and Russian markets, and said the current difficulties were not yet over.I have graphs dating back to 1997-1998. The products are different but the curves are the same, Greenspan said in an interview due to be published on Monday.
Fear dissipates when price uncertainty diminishes, that is to say when the spread between the sale price and the purchase price of securities falls and stabilizes. We're not there yet, Greenspan said.The current global credit crunch began in the U.S. subprime mortgage sector, where home loans made to borrowers with poor credit records were repackaged and sold on around the world as asset backed securities to institutional investors, including hedge funds.

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - The Middle East diplomatic Quartet on Sunday rallied behind the US call for an international peace conference later this year to set out the contours of a future Palestinian state. After a two-hour meeting here, the four peace sponsors -- The United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations -- expressed backing for the international conference which Washington hopes to host later this year.The Quartet will work for a successful international meeting and for the implementation of its conclusions, a joint statement issued at the end of the meeting said.The talks brought together UN chief Ban Ki-moon, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and British former prime minister Tony Blair.Blair delivered his first report to the Quartet since he was named the grouping's special envoy in June.
Things are moving again, said Blair who has been tasked by the Quartet to help the Palestinians create stable institutions to underpin a viable state. There's a good deal of momentum, Rice chimed in, speaking of a very firm commitment by key players and of a lot of goodwill among fellow Quartet members and Arab leaders.

The Quartet issued a roadmap for achieving Israeli-Palestinian peace in 2003, but the three-stage plan that should have led to the creation of a Palestinian state by 2005 has since languished.Earlier Sunday, the United States dropped a bombshell by announcing plans to invite Syria to the planned international peace talks.The conference, proposed by US President George W. This was a reference to Israel's previous commitments to ease restrictions on movements to and from the Palestinian territories.The Quartet also expressed concern over conditions in Gaza and stressed the importance of continued emergency and humanitarian assistance without obstruction.Blair meanwhile announced that a meeting of donors for the Palestinians would be held late this year. Economic assistance to the beleaguered Palestinians was to be discussed at a meeting of donors to be chaired by Norway Monday. The United States and the European Union suspended direct economic assistance to the Palestinians in April 2006 after Hamas, which they regard as a terrorist group, won parliamentary elections. Although Washington and the EU announced the resumption of direct aid in June following the appointment of Palestinian prime minister Salam Fayyad, the Quartet statement endorsed an extension until the end of the year of the temporary (aid) mechanism set up in 2006 to bypass Hamas.

Referring to Europe, Evaristo Lenin Perez of Ciudad Acuna – a sister city of Del Rio, Texas – told the Great Plains International Conference, It's a model we need to follow quickly.Perez later told WND, If only people know the benefits of opening the borders and working together, improving the quality of life for all, then no one would be opposed to the idea of a North American Union.A spokesman for organizers of the conference – which began Wednesday and concludes today – rejected the Mexican mayor's view.

This is not what the conference is about, it is not about a North American Union, said Joe Kiely, vice president of the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition. It is about developing infrastructure and economic opportunities in the Great Plains. I am equally surprised the other items were brought up here.Ports-to-Plains describes itself as a planned, multimodal transportation corridor including a multi-lane divided highway that will facilitate the efficient transportation of goods and services from Mexico, through West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma, and ultimately on into Canada and the Pacific Northwest.The conference, held at the Adams Mark Hotel, is promoted as an opportunity to highlight the efforts of communities and citizens working together to bring the benefits of investment in transportation infrastructure and trade home to the Great Plains region.Asked why he chose the conference to promote the idea of a North American Union, Perez told WND, It's as good as any place and the right people are here.This is not a new idea, he said. In fact when there are border meetings between border governors or border legislatures this is a topic that continually comes up.Perez also affirmed the Ports to Plains Corridor is basically a NAFTA Superhighway and needs to be developed as such.

We need to begin by building the infrastructure in the three countries, investing in Mexico, and then we can sell the main idea that Mexicans should stay in Mexico. Arnal later discussed with WND the relationship between Mexico and the U.S. and the issue of illegal immigration. The best and only way to stop illegal immigration is for the United States to invest in Mexico, he said. A fence will not work. It's a simple equation of supply and demand – Mexicans go to the U.S. for work because the demand for their labor and wages is there.

Arnal said although Mexico must share responsibility for the immigration issue, it is the U.S. that really needs to step up and begin investing more in Mexico to help bring the country to a level playing field. The Canadian perspective was delivered by Phillippe Taillon, vice consul and trade commissioner of the Canadian Consulate in Denver. Like his Mexican counterpart, Taillon presented statistics on the relationship between the three countries and told the crowd "NAFTA has been hugely profitable for all three countries.He also expressed an interest in continuing to integrate rail, truck and air transportation networks as Canada looks to open new markets from Asia.

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Former U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan said it is possible that the euro could replace the U.S. dollar as the reserve currency of choice.According to an advance copy of an interview to be published in Thursday's edition of the German magazine Stern, Greenspan said that the dollar is still slightly ahead in its use as a reserve currency, but added that it doesn't have all that much of an advantage anymore.The euro has been soaring against the U.S. currency in recent weeks, hitting all-time high of $1.3927 last week as the dollar has fallen on turbulent market conditions stemming from the ongoing U.S. subprime crisis. The Fed meets this week and is expected to lower its benchmark interest rate from the current 5.25 percent.Greenspan said that at the end of 2006, some 25 percent of all currency reserves held by central banks were held in euros, compared to 66 percent for the U.S. dollar.In terms of being used as a payment for cross-border transactions, the euro is trailing the dollar only slightly with 39 percent to 43 percent.Greenspan said the European Central Bank has become a serious factor in the global economy.He said the increased usage of the euro as a reserve currency has led to a lowering of interest rates in the euro zone, which has without any doubt contributed to the current economic growth.http://www.stern.de

African NGOs Wary of Recent Trade Agreement with European Union

The European Union is hoping to enter a new free trade arrangement, known as the Economic Partnership Agreements, EPA’s, with African, Caribbean and Pacific countries, ACPs, by January 2008. But the Africa Trade Network, ATN, a group of 50 civil society groups in 30 African countries, is cautioning African governments against the new deal.From Accra, Ghana, Voice of America English to Africa reporter Joana Mantey tells us the EU and the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries have been negotiating the new trade agreement for five years. The goal is to establish new arrangements that will eventually remove barriers on almost all trade between the two groups. A press release by the EU delegation in Ghana said new solutions compatible with World Trade Organization rules on non-discrimination are needed to regulate trade because the old recipes have not promoted diversification, competitiveness and growth.Tetteh Hormeku is the program officer of Third World Network, a group that coordinates the activities of the ATN.

He explained that the EU is expecting further negotiations in areas such as investment, trade facilitation, government procurement, data protection and services. Homerku said ACP countries will find it difficult to compete on the same level with EU countries:The problem is that because European economies are much more advanced than African economies and because the European Union is able to give subsidies to its producers and products, if we liberalize, they will just destroy our domestic products and producers so that it will [lead] to de-industrialization in Africa and the collapse of our economies.The intent of the EPA’s as outlined in the agreement is to promote sustainable development and contribute to poverty eradication in ACP countries. But the emphasis on liberalization has created an impression among critics that the negotiation is about European expanded access to ACP markets, rather than about development in ACP countries.Hormeku agrees with the critics that the arrangements will bring few benefits to Africa. He said although goods from ACP countries would be allowed entry into European markets, the results would be costly. For example, he said for a country like Ghana, which has 40 per cent trade with the European Union, the removal of tariffs on European goods coming into Ghana could amount to a 20 per cent loss of revenue.

Also, he says the removal of tariffs would mean African farmers would have to compete with European ones, who receive subsidies from their governments. He doubts the African farmer could win the competition, and there could well be a dumping of Western goods on the market: If we remove the tariffs (on European goods coming in to Ghana), producers in our country will be faced with cheap European products. For instance [Ghana’s] chicken farmers have been devastated because subsidized chicken and poultry from Europe enters into our market.Homerku said all of the sectors of the economies of developing countries would be adversely affected. The end result would be a loss of livelihood and a vicious cycle of poverty for Africans. He said heavy dependence on EU aid by these countries is likely to pressurize most into complying with the new trade arrangement. Homerku said at the moment, some countries are being enticed with promises of increased aid on the condition that they meet the end-of-the-year deadline. This, despite a number of requests by ACP countries that the negotiations be put on hold for three more years to allow for adequate preparation.Homeku further says it is important that all elements of a trade relationship be consistent with Africa’s development needs. Filiberto Ceriani Sebregondi is head of the EU Delegation of the European Commission in Ghana. He said the EPA’s should be seen more as development instruments rather than as another trade regime: It is a broader form of agreement that will be geared towards expanding trade and economic growth in ACP countries. The aim is to create regional markets that are larger in size and more transparent in the way they function and more predictable in the rules that apply to investment.

EU press statements say that most ACP countries trade more with Europe than they do with each other. However, more duties are paid on exports to developing countries than to EU countries. Therefore, the EU supports new agreements that would eliminate barriers between neighboring countries and create real integration that would favor trade and boost growth. It would also create bigger markets more attractive to investors and would facilitate trade with landlocked countries.Sebregondi also refuted charges that the Economic Partnership Agreements would lead to the dumping of European goods on African markets: Europe and Africa don’t compete on the same goods. The two markets rather compliment than compete each other. Secondly, the opening [of ACP markets] will be over a period of 10 to 25 years by which [time] African countries would have prepared their economies to compete with EU products which in any case will bring about some benefits.However, Sebregondi said the EU would make a move to protect some sensitive products, such as tomato paste, from ACP countries.

EUOBSERVER / COMMENT - If you're worried about the close connection between negative household savings in the United States and world economic instability, you need look no further than the ‘sub-prime lending' crisis of 2007, an instructive lesson in how quickly a set of apparently unrelated factors can combine to produce the threat of financial meltdown. Earlier this month small savers in the UK queued up 1930s-style outside the branches of Northern Rock, one of Britain's many building societies which (much like a US ‘thrift') specialises in mortgage lending. Until quite recently, Northern Rock was one of Britain's most dynamic mortgage lenders, achieving a high average annual growth rate and holding little bad debt. But in the course of a few weeks, depositors withdrew nearly £20bn, and the company's share price plummeted by 80% making it ripe for takeover. In 2006 the company's chairman, Adam Applegarth, had paid himself a modest £1.4mn; as one journalist noted, unlike Jimmy Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life, he did not appear at the door of the bank offering to repay customers from his own money.

Ironically, the run on this particular bank appears to have been precipitated by factors which have little to do with the institution's financial integrity, but rather have been caused by the credit crunch in the US market. Indeed, what is most worrying about this episode is that contagion has crossed the Atlantic and could easily spread to other financial institutions in Europe. The US Fed and the European Central Bank have already poured billions into keeping financial markets solvent, the former $70bn and the latter €150bn in July and August; moreover, only a few days ago the US Federal Funds rate was cut by ½ a percentage point. The Bank of England followed with a £10bn injection of credit, in recognising - perhaps a trifle late - that the damage needed to be contained quickly, given the central role of the City of London in the world's money market. How did all this come about?

How it happened

A generation ago when the world of finance was still relatively simple, mortgage banks took in savers' deposits and used these to make long-term loans, making their profit from the spread between the interest rates paid to lenders and borrowers. Loan outflows are a bank's assets and deposit inflows are a liability; hence the traditional golden rule of banking - lend short and borrow long - is meant to keep the inflow of maturing loan repayments well ahead of the outflow of liabilities to depositors. A banker's worst nightmare is the bank's creditors - traditionally, thousands of small savers - will all turn up at once demanding their money back, thus precipitating the bank's collapse. Ostensibly, mortgage banks defy gravity because their loans are all long term; hence, the supreme importance of lending only to those who can repay and whose collateral is quite literally 'safe as houses'.
Several things have happened over the last generation to change the picture. First, the rapid development of financial markets, and particularly that for short-term funds (the international 'money market'), has made access to credit nearly instantaneous and made financial and other institutions more reliant on such credit.

Equally, central banks today are more conscious of their obligation to act as lender of the last resort if a bank cannot meet its cash obligations its own funds or from the money market. Also, flexible mortgages mean that if interest rates rise, a mortgage bank can pass the rise along to borrowers. Perhaps most important, banks need no longer carry risky mortgages which, if unpaid, would be classed as a non-performing asset. Instead, mortgages can be bundled up (securitised in the jargon), segmented by their degree of risk, and sold in the market just like any other commodity. In short, banks can unload risk onto whoever buys these asset backed securities (ABSs); buyers might be any institution looking to diversify its asset portfolio, including other banks.In the United States, one of the factors fuelling the housing bubble was the eagerness of banks to lend for house purchase and remortgage existing property, reflecting the ease with which banks could pass on mortgage risk to the secondary market. Initially, banks granted mortgages to high- and middle-income clients; such mortgages, when bundled into bond-like assets, were given a prime rating by valuers such as Moody's Corporation and thus considered virtually risk-free. As the momentum behind the housing boom grew and interest rates remained low, banks extended their services to low-income clients eager to join the consumption spree - often using bait and switch tactics to lure them in, then charging them above-prime rates. Since such clients were vulnerable to any rise in interest rates, the resulting mortgage pools were deemed to be sub-prime. But when sub-prime mortgages were bundled together with prime mortgages, the resulting mortgage pools could still be bought and sold in the world money market like any other financial product.Starting in June 2004, the Federal Reserve repeatedly pushed up the federal funds rate from a low of 1% to 5.25% by late 2006, in effect nearly doubling the burden of mortgage repayments on the finances of an average family. Predictably, one result was a dramatic rise in the default rate on mortgages granted to sub-prime borrowers. Banks and other institutions holding fully or partially sub-prime ABSs now found it difficult to sell these in secondary markets and, as the assets lost value, so too did the asset sheet of their holders who, in turn, tightened credit.

Europe narrowly avoided trouble

Because the world money market is today so large and electronic trading is ubiquitous, a wide variety of institutions rely on the money market for short-term credit needs. By mid-2007, what had started as a rise in the default rate on mortgages amongst US borrowers now turned into a world-wide credit crunch. The worlds' leading central banks may have talked tough about the moral hazard of bailing out overexposed institutions, but faced with the prospect of recession they flooded the market with liquidity. At the time of writing, the contagion seems to have been contained and the pain will be borne chiefly by low-income American families for whom the prospect of buying a home has become even more remote. Europe has narrowly avoided serious trouble. But the consumer spree of the past two decades, first facilitated by financial deregulation and driven by the booming stock market and then by the housing market, may be drawing to a close. The danger is that the world financial system is already dangerously fragile; as the US dollar falls, a further speculative crisis could send the world economy into a tailspin. More generally, the contagious nature of the liquidity crisis is a further sign that unfettered free markets do not guarantee economic stability and prosperity, nor do they give rise to an income distribution that underwrites social stability and individual well-being. September 20, 2007 -- An Israeli airstrike on Syria earlier this month targeted a building that was believed to house nuclear equipment and came just three days after a North Korean ship docked at a Syrian port, according to reports. The target was a building which had been under surveillance by an Israeli satellite, sent into orbit last June, U.S. officials told CBS News. As a result of the transaction, Dubai also will acquire 28 percent of the London Stock Exchange, one of the oldest and largest in the world. The transaction is being made through Borse Dubai, a holding company 100-percent owned by the government of the Emirate of Dubai and controlled by Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, the head of the Dubai ruling family. According to its website, Borse Dubai was created Aug. 6 as the holding company for Dubai Financial Market and Dubai International Financial Exchange in a move to consolidate the Dubai government's two stock exchanges as well as current investments in other exchanges, expanding Dubai's position as a global capital market hub.

The announcement set off a firestorm of criticism in Washington, prompting President Bush to comment today in a news conference, We're going to take a good look at it, as to whether or not it has any national security implications involved in the transaction. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., urged Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson to conduct the Borse Dubai CFIUS review under the standards imposed by the Foreign Investment and National Security Act of 2007, even though most of the requirements of the new law do not take effect until later this fall. Schumer chairs the Joint Economic Committee, composed of 10 members each from the Senate and House of Representatives. Nasdaq is not just any exchange, but one of the world's largest, Schumer wrote Paulson. With approximately 3,200 companies, it lists more companies and, on average, trades more shares per day than any other U.S. market.

Schumer's letter posed five specific questions for Paulson:

Today is Yom Kippur and throughout the world Jewish people will go to their local synagogue and beg God to be written in the Book of Life. Let us remember that Yeshua (Jesus) and His disciples also went to the synagogue on Yom Kippur, it is a Biblical Sabbath. And on this holiest day of the Jewish calendar year, each Jew will repeat their following requests to God with increasing urgency throughout the day. God, please forgive me of my intention and unintentional sins and allow me to be in the Book of Life. Allow my family to be in the Book of Life, and allow the Jewish People to be in the Book of Life!Unfortunately God's Chosen People do not believe that Yeshua (Jesus) has already paid the price and taken away their sins. And they do not believe that He has risen. They simply do not know the Gospel of Yeshua because no one has taken it to them. They do not know that He is the Messiah, and they do not know the Messianic Prophecies that point to him.

David's Comment: Heading Towards the War of Gog & Magog

The demon of another man-made peace treaty is in the air again. PM Olmert and his extremely secular cronies are preparing to commit nation suicide by preparing to give away half of Jerusalem, the Old City, the Temple Mount and most of Judea and Samaria. If God allows this to occur, the miracle of modern Israel will be as good as finished ! Every previous man-designed peace plan has been, and will continue to be a miserable failure, often inflaming the situation rather than improving it. Once again Israel is in serious trouble as the God of Israel seems to be using the Islamic world and the other nations to bring the Jewish people to their knees, in order that they cry out to him. It is not only Israel that is in serious trouble with God. Almost every nation and much of the Church is placing itself in the position to suffer the wrath of the Holy One of Israel, as they once again remain silent as Satan attempts to destroy Israel, or even conspire with the Muslims to force the weak and faithless Israeli leadership to relinquish land that belongs to the Almighty - Land which He has promised as an eternal inheritance to the physical seed of Abraham, by the covenant that He made with Abraham.

The vultures are hovering over Israel in anticipation of an imminent kill. Armadinjhad is mentioning October 12th and Syria must be absolutely fuming over the Israeli Air Force mission that destroyed a nuclear or chemical weapon base 10 days ago. It has now been revealed that a few days before the Israeli attack, there was a serious accident at the base. Reports are surfacing that dozens of Iranian scientists and a number of Syrian military personel where killed when the fittling of a VX nerve gas warhead to a Scud missile, went horribly wrong ( sounds like the hand of God to me ). Surely desparate days lie ahead for God's tiny nation. Its time to pray and intercede as never before.It is not by chance that you are alive and have come to the Kingdom at such a strategically decisive time as this. Don't be caught unaware of the turmoil that YHVH is about to loose on planet Earth. Dont be a silent spectator, but be a co-laborer of God and an ambassador of the Messiah. Be a good soldier in the army of God and get involved as the end-time events unfold before our very eyes. Remember: Failing to prepare is preparation to fail

The Lord bless you as you bless Israel by standing in defense of her right to exist on the land given to the Jewish people by the God of Israel . Lets pray that Israel will turn back to their God. Do not be silent, but share this with your fellow Christians, share it with your pastors, and with anyone you have a chance to speak to. Lets also pray for that breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray for our son Jordan, and all of his fellow soldiers in the IDF.
