NETANYAHU LAYS DOWN PEACE GUIDELINES

LAND FOR PEACE (THE FUTURE 7 YEARS OF HELL ON EARTH)

JOEL 3:2
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

THE WEEK OF DANIEL 9:27 WE KNOW ITS 7 YRS

Heres the scripture 1 week = 7 yrs Genesis 29:27-29
27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.

DANIEL 11:21-23
21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
23 And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24 He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.

DANIEL 9:26-27
26 And after threescore and two weeks(62X7=434 YEARS+7X7=49 YEARS=TOTAL OF 69 WEEKS OR 483 YRS) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(ROMAN LEADERS DESTROYED THE 2ND TEMPLE) and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.(THERE HAS TO BE 70 WEEKS OR 490 YRS TO FUFILL THE VISION AND PROPHECY OF DAN 9:24).(THE NEXT VERSE IS THAT 7 YR WEEK OR (70TH FINAL WEEK).
27 And he( THE ROMAN,EU PRESIDENT) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:(1X7=7 YEARS) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,(3 1/2 yrs in TEMPLE SACRIFICES STOPPED) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

JEREMIAH 6:14
14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

JEREMIAH 8:11
11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:3
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

ISAIAH 28:14-19 (THIS IS THE 7 YR TREATY COVENANT OF DANIEL 9:27)
14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

Netanyahu Adds Settlement Blocs to Peace Conditions
by Gil Ronen MAY 16,11

In a speech before the Knesset’s plenum in its special Herzl Day session, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu laid down five conditions for a peace treaty with the Palestinian Authority Arabs. These are:
1-The Palestinians must recognize Israel as the Jewish nation’s state.
2-The treaty must be an end to the conflict.
3-The Arab refugee problem must be solved outside of Israel’s borders.
4-A Palestinian state will have to be demilitarized and a peace treaty must safeguard Israel’s security.
5-The settlement blocs will remain within the state of Israel and Jerusalem will remain its united capital.

Netanyahu’s speech can be seen as an accurate indication of what he intends to say when he addresses the U.S. Congress next Tuesday. It is unlikely that he will go back on any of the principles he laid down, given the venue: a Herzl Day address before the Knesset plenum. Fearing that the prime minister intended to announce concessions in Washington, MKs within Likud had demanded that Netanyahu address Israelis before he goes to the U.S..Based on Monday's speech, the prime minister does not appear to be planning any retreat from previous positions, and may arguably even have toughened his stance somewhat, although this is arguable.By and large, the speech does not depart from the one he delivered at Bar Ilan University in June 2009. In that speech as in the latest one, Netanyahu said that a PA state would be demilitarized, and that Israel would require security arrangements in a peace treaty. He also said that Jerusalem would remain united as Israel’s capital and that Arab refugees would be resettled outside Israel.

The condition added by Netanyahu in this speech is Israel’s retention of the large settlement blocs. In the Bar Ilan speech, Netanyahu said that the territorial issues would be determined in negotiations and that until then, Israel would not be building new settlements or expropriating land in Judea and Samaria. In Monday’s speech he was less defensive and more confident on this issue, raising the ante and announcing that Israel would insist on keeping the large settlement blocs in its possession.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Erekat: Israel No Partner for PA
by Chana Ya'ar MAY 17,11

Former Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat told a conference in Tel Aviv Monday there is no peace partner today in Israel that can work together with the PA. Erekat, currently a member of the Fatah faction's Central Committee, spoke at a conference of the Geneva Initiative. The conference was held to address the current political situation from a Palestinian, Israeli and international perspective, according to the Geneva Accord organization's website. Other speakers included former French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and the organization's chairman, Yossi Beilin. The negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians are over, Erekat told conference attendees bluntly.I'm tired of the Israelis ignoring me, he claimed. I'm tired of people trying to dictate to me what is good and what is not.Erekat, who served as the PA's chief negotiator for years, resigned that post in February over a scandal involving leaks of PA government documents.Nevertheless, he has retained his position within the faction and continues to wield considerable influence in the PA government as well.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Livni: Netanyahu, Stop Being the No-No Bear
by Gil Ronen MAY 17,11

MK Tzipi Livni (Kadima), who heads the Opposition in the Knesset, demanded Monday in her Herzl Day speech that the prime minister delineate the boundaries to which he is willing to withdraw as part of a deal with the Palestinian Authority.
However, she also mentioned Jerusalem, the settlement blocs and security arrangements, as Netanyahu did.She attacked Netanyahu over his speech, which spelled out five conditions for a treaty. I think that deep down in your heart you know what needs to be done. That, at least, is the excuse offered by those who explain why they still mutter that you will surprise us.Livni quoted Defense Minister Ehud Barak who said Israel must stop being the No-No Bear – an Israeli children’s book character that says no to everything. I have not heard a single yes’ on the podium, she scolded Netanyahu.Livni, who refused to join Netanyahu’s government as anything but an equal partner in a two-headed cabinet, added: I do not know what is worse for Israel – the fact that you know what can save Israel but are unable to reach a decision because of petty political concerns, or that you do not understand the situation. And both options are bad for Israel.I will defend Israel and its right to exist as a national home for the Jewish people, she promised. The same principles of security that will be part of any future arrangement; the blocs that will be part of Israel; Jerusalem – as I did during the negotiations [of the Kadima government with the PA]. But I cannot defend an ongoing failure by this government. And we can still change things. It is still not too late. September is not yet here.(Israel NationalNews.com)

Member states responsible for EU single voice abroad, top official says MEABH MCMAHON AND ANDREW WILLIS 16.05.2011 @ 17:44 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – The EU's ability to speak with one voice on foreign policy is ultimately dependent on member states, with the European External Action Service (EEAS) to act as a facilitator a senior official has said. The comments by EEAS chief operating officer David O'Sullivan come amid intense debate over the organisation's job description, with top official Catherine Ashton recently subject to criticism. At the end of the day, it's the member states that decide whether they want to speak with one voice, and there are moments when there are divergences, O'Sullivan told EUobserver in an interview last week (10 May). The high representative has difficulty expressing a common European view if one doesn't exist. The seasoned EU official, who previously worked under Ashton in the commission's trade department [see video below], said Europe had adopted a more unified voice over the past decade, although the bloc's handling of the Libyan crisis was a notable exception. It is our hope that the service will facilitate this process … we cannot at the end of the day change fundamental disagreements between member states, he said.Others would like to see a more authoritative Ashton however, one that knocked heads together and came up with proposals until a common EU line was agreed. In an email to colleagues on Tuesday, German Green MEP Franziska Brantner said: Cathy Ashton is failing to grasp what her job is.Instead of proactively forging common positions, she passively waits until EU governments have outlined their positions, the lowest common denominator of which she then presents as her proposal.Days earlier, Belgian foreign minister Steven Vanackere spoke of his impatience.

We have always wanted the external action service to be the central axis around which member states can organize. But in the absence of a central axis which makes analysis and draws conclusions quickly, it's the Germans today, and tomorrow the French or the English who take part of this role,he told Le Soir, a Belgian daily.
The foreign minister also called into the question the service's long-term policy planning, describing documents he read during Belgium's recent EU presidency as disappointing.Much of the service's attentions have been necessarily directed towards other matters, with the organisational structure needing to be set up, in order to effectively react to the almost daily crises on the world stage, said O'Sullivan. On top of this, Ashton and the service have taken over the chairing of the foreign affairs council and the EU's political and security committee, and must equally manage the corps' 136 delegations overseas.I think it would be naïve to say after 100 days that we have designed a strategy for the next five to 10 years, because we haven't frankly, conceded O'Sullivan. He predicts this part of the service's activity will really start next spring when the internal structure of the EEAS is fully established. The eventual moving of service staff into a single building on Rond-Point Schuman is also likely to be a turning point, with employees from old commission departments and the council's secretariat currently spread out across Brussels. They are still in the same buildings doing pretty much the same work that they were before the service was created, O'Sullivan said. There isn't even a geographical move to symbolise the bringing together of the service.Watch a day in the life of David O'Sullivan.

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS (10 May 2011) Watch a day in the professional life of David O'Sullivan. Having worked in the European institutions for over 30 years, today the seasoned EU civil servant is the chief operating officer in the EU's diplomatic service, the EEAS. In this video, he talks to EUobserver about his past, his present, his relations with Catherine Ashton and the impact of the EU on his native Ireland.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3oHkvaIQeY&feature=player_embedded

Israelis Wave Flags on Naqba Day
by Hillel Fendel MAY 16,11

While Arabs around the world, and especially in the PA-controlled areas, commemorated Catastrophe Day, many Israelis celebrated the anniversary of Israel’s Declaration of Independence by distributing and waving Israeli flags.Volunteers stood at intersections and gave out the flags to drivers. The initiative was that of Shomron Regional Council head Gershon Mesika and Shomron Residents Council director Benny Katzover.Naqba Day literally means Catastrophe Day, and commemorates the catastrophe of the founding of the State of Israel on May 15, 1948. The Palestinian Authority teaches that had it not been for that event, Arabs would still be living in their homes, and a Palestinian country would have been established on the entirety of their ancestors’ historic homeland. Such a state would have replaced the Jewish population of the time, estimated at over 600,000 - likely leading to large-scale bloodshed. In fact, however, there was no interest among the Arab nations of that time to establish an Arab state in the Holy Land. The Arab League rejected the Partition Plan of 1947, which called for the establishment of such a state. Even after 1948, when Jordan took control of Judea and Samaria, and Egypt grabbed Gaza, those countries did not move to grant Arab independence to these areas.

Only in 1964, in fact, when Jordan still controlled Judea and Samaria, was the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) founded for the purpose of establishing a Palestinian Arab state.Experience has shown that had the Arabs not waged war against Israel in 1948, most of them would still be living in their homes in Jaffa, Haifa, Safed, and elsewhere. In the event, however, the Arab countries declared war on fledgling Israel and called upon the Arab residents to leave - thus becoming refugees until this very day.

End of the Aspiration to Wipe Out Jews
On the other hand, the establishment of the State of Israel did put an end to another Arab aspiration – that which was heard from the throats of many Arabs in various attacks in the decades leading up to 1948 – namely, Itbah al-Yahud (Slaughter the Jews)! Some have even likened Naqba Day to an attempt by former Nazis to mark the end of World War II as their Catastrophe in that it marked the end of their dream to liquidate world Jewry. In an open letter to residents, Mesika gave a different translation to the word Naqba,The Palestinian Authority has chosen to call this day Holocaust Day,and the establishment of the State of Israel as a holocaust. This is no wonder, when we see that the head of this terrorist authority is none other than Holocaust-denier Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas)… In response to the de-legitimization of Israel by our own extremist left, and to the PA’s attempts to frighten us with their Naqba Day violence, I believe that the simple act of waving the Israeli flag on this day will emit a sense of safety and faith in the justness of our cause.

Ayalon: The Real Catastrophe
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon called yesterday upon the international community to recognize the real Naqba of 1948 and afterwards – namely, the persecution and eviction of hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes in Arab countries. While the Arabs in 1948 were involved in hostilities against the Jews, Ayalon said, the Jews of the Middle East and North Africa were not present in a theater of war, yet overnight their citizenship was revoked, their assets stolen and they were expelled or forced to flee. While the Arabs refugees numbered just over half a million, Ayalon added, the Jewish refugees numbered over 900,000. And because they were urban and wealthy, their assets accounted for almost double those of the more rural Arabs.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Israel's Netanyahu takes aim at Hamas
By IAN DEITCH, Associated Press – Mon May 16, 6:37 pm ET

JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday took a tough line toward an emerging Palestinian government ahead of a high-profile trip to Washington, saying "those that want to destroy us are not partners in peace."

Netanyahu reiterated a willingness to agree to a Palestinian state under certain conditions but made clear he did not believe it was possible if the Islamic militant group Hamas, which is set to join a Palestinian unity government with the Western-leaning Fatah movement, does not recognize Israel.I want to make peace with a Palestinian state that wants to end the conflict. I am not willing to accept a Palestinian state that wants to continue it, he said in comments that came a day after a series of deadly clashes with Palestinians demanding that refugees from the time of Israel's creation in 1948 and their descendants be allowed to return to their lost homes.Netanyahu questioned the Palestinian commitment to peace after Sunday's confrontations along Israel's borders with Syria, Lebanon and Gaza. He also noted Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh's calls for the end of the Zionist enterprise.A Palestinian government, of which half declares daily that it is intent on annihilating Israel, is not a partner for peace, Netanyahu told his parliament Monday.Hamas, a violent Iranian-backed group, is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S, EU and others because it has killed hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks. Hamas' official charter calls for the destruction of Israel.Fatah and Hamas agreed last week to form a unity government to end a four-year rift that has left them with rival governments: a Hamas regime in Gaza and a Fatah-dominated administration in the West Bank. The Palestinians, who hope to establish a state in the two territories, say the new government will fill a caretaker role until new elections can be held next year.

Aides to Netanyahu described Monday's speech as a taste of the message Netanyahu will deliver at the White House on Friday.President Barack Obama is expected to deliver a Mideast policy speech on Thursday, a day before his meeting with Netanyahu.
In his speech Monday, Netanyahu reiterated a long-standing list of demands from the Palestinians. Among them: recognition of Israel as the Jewish homeland, retaining major Jewish settlements in the West Bank and keeping all of Jerusalem under Israel control.Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, retorted that the Palestinians don't have a partner on the Israeli side. Netanyahu has chosen settlements over peace, Erekat said. The Palestinians claim all of the West Bank and east Jerusalem, areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war from Jordan, as parts of an independent state. They decline to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, fearing it would undermine their backing of the right of return of Palestinian refugees, a concept Israel rejects.Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday declared three days of mourning for 15 people were killed the day before in mass marches toward Israel's borders from Gaza, Syria and Lebanon.Sunday's unrest occurred as the Palestinians marked the nakba, or catastrophe — the term they use to describe their defeat and displacement in the war that followed Israel's founding on May 15, 1948 when Israel overcame the armies of surrounding Arab states as well as local Arabs who attacked after the Jewish state was declared.Israel's U.N. ambassador, Meron Reuben, on Monday sent two letters of complaint about the border incidents to the Security Council. We expect the international community to take action to prevent further provocations," he wrote about the clash on the Lebanon border, warning that such actions carry with them the serious potentional for escalation. The letter charged that the storming of the Syrian border indicated that Syria was seeking such provocations as a cynical distraction from other issues.

Contest for Design of New Banknotes
by Hillel Fendel MAY 16,11

The Bank of Israel has announced a competition for the design of the new series of banknotes. The Bank of Israel says it invites suitable candidates to take part in a competitive proceeding for the selection of a designer for a new series of State of Israel banknotes. It was announced several months ago that the current series of State of Israel banknotes was to be replaced. Currently bearing the likenesses of the late Prime Minister Moshe Sharett, Nobel Literature Prizewinner Shmuel Yosef Agnon, and former Presidents Yitzchak Ben-Tzvi and Zalman Shazar, the new notes will feature writers Rachel the Poetess, Leah Goldberg, Sha’ul Tchernichovsky and Natan Alterman. The replacement of banknotes once every 12–15 years is an accepted practice in advanced economies, the Bank of Israel states, occasioned mainly by the aging of the security features on the banknotes and the development of more advanced anti- counterfeit means. The banknotes in circulation today - the Second Series of the New Israel Shekel, issued in 1999 - will be replaced by redesigned banknotes with advanced security features. The denominations will not change, and will remain NIS 20, 50, 100, and 200.The Public Committee for the Planning of Banknotes and Coins will serve as competition referee, on behalf of the Governor of the Bank of Israel, for the choice of design and designer of the series among the design works that reach the final stage of the proceeding. The Committee will examine the design works from the standpoints of aesthetics, artistic quality, and suitability for successful performance as banknotes.

Monetary prizes will be offered to the top three design works, with 150,000, 100,000 and 50,000 shekels going to the top three finishers, respectively.Only those individuals who satisfy all of the following requirements may take part in the proceeding:A citizen or resident of Israel;Holder of a certificate attesting to the completion of higher studies in design and graphics and at least five years’ proven experience in graphic design work, or alternatively, at least 10 years’ proven experience in graphic design work;Strong proficiency in Hebrew and English;Absence of conviction and/or of investigation regarding an offense that carries moral turpitude, except where the limitations clause under the Criminal Record and Penitence Regulations Law, 1981, applies, and/or the absence of any current legal proceeding or investigation against the candidate that is defined as material in the Bank’s exclusive judgment;Bookkeeping certification. The deadline for the tendering of bids is two months from now, July 17, 2011, at 14:00. Bids may be tendered Sunday–Thursday mornings at the Bank of Israel in Jerusalem or at the Bank of Israel branch in Tel Aviv.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.

Israel Complains to UN Against Syria and Lebanon
by Elad Benari MAY 17,11

Israel has filed a complaint in the United Nations against Syria and Lebanon, following Sunday’s border incidents, Voice of Israel Radio reported.According to the report, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Meron Reuven, wrote in a letter to the Security Council that Syria allowed protesters to infiltrate Israel from its territory, in order to make what he termed a cynical provocation and to distract attention from the issues within its own territory. He was referring to Sunday’s Nakba Day incident, when nearly 1,000 Syrian Arabs who called themselves Palestinians invaded the Golan Heights. Syrian troops at the border did not prevent the infiltration. The Syrians reached the Druze town of Majdal Shams, located near the border and on the road to the Hermon Mountain range, causing the IDF to try to beat them back into their own territory.Reuven’s letter also complained about Lebanon, over Sunday’s incident in which tens of thousands of Arabs were bused to the Lebanese border, and several hundred or more managed to cross the border briefly until being driven back by the presence of IDF forces.Reuven wrote that such actions can cause a dangerous escalation, and added that Israel expects the international community to act to prevent further provocations.

Voice of Israel Radio also reported of a heated argument in the UN Security Council between the ambassadors of Israel, Syria and Iran, after Reuven said that Syria and Iran support terrorism. According to the report, Reuven made the comments during a hearing on the issue of international terrorism. In response, Iranian ambassador Mohammad Khazaee accused Israel of shooting civilians in Majdal Shams. Syrian Ambassador Bashar Jaafari said that Israel is conducting a Holocaust among the Palestinians, said the report. The report added that Reuven said in response that Syria’s security forces have been firing on protesting civilians, and expressed his objection to Jaafari’s contempt for the Holocaust.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

AMERICA (POLITICAL BABYLON)(NUKED BY SNEAK ATTACK FROM RUSSIA)

JEREMIAH 50:3,24
3 For out of the north (RUSSIA) there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon,(AMERICA) and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD. (RUSSIA A SNEAK ATTACK ON AMERICA)

REVELATION 18:3-6,19-21
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication,(U.S.A) and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her,(U.S.A) and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her,(AMERICA) my people,(CHRISTIANS,JEWS) that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you,(WITH FALSE FLAG TERRORISM) and double unto her double according to her works:(DOUBLE-EMP 1ST,THEN RUSSIA NUKE ATTACKS U.S.A) in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.(PROBABLY A RUSSIAN CYBER ATTACK WILL SET THE WHOLE SITUATION UP AS RUSSIA HACKS THE USA ARMY COMPUTERS.THEN THE EMP,THEN THE NUKE ATTACK)
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Secret Weather Weapons Can Kill Millions, Warns Top Russian Politican
Paul Joseph Watson Infowars.com May 16, 2011

A top Duma political leader caused shock waves in a recent television interview when he warned that Russia could deploy an arsenal of new technology to destroy any part of the planet and kill over a hundred million people using secret weather weapons if the United States, the UN or Georgia tried to stop Russia’s entry into the WTO.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky is Vice-Chairman of the Russian State Duma and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the first officially sanctioned opposition party after the fall of communism. The LDPR has deep links with the former KGB and Communist Party and has become a significant force in Russian politics, despite Zhirinovsky himself being branded as a militant neo-fascist.
According to a translation provided by a Russian speaker, during the interview Zhirinovsky went off on a bizarre tangent after he was asked how Russia should treat countries like Georgia and the United States who try and block Russia’s entry into the World Trade Organization.Saying that the American government in Washington DC had no future and would collapse,Zhirinovsky cited Russia’s supremacy in space and stated that the country had,Lots of money, resources, and new weapons that no one knows about. With them we will destroy any part of the planet within 15 minutes,he sensationally warned.

Not an explosion, not a ray burst, not some kind of laser, not lightning, but a quiet and peaceful weapon, added Zhirinovsky, warning that whole continents will be put to sleep forever and that 120 million will die if anyone interfered with Russia’s claim on the Kuril Islands, which are the subject of a territorial dispute with Japan. The female presenter of the news program smirked as he made the comments, but Zhirinovsky’s manner was far from jovial.Zhirinovsky made reference to the recent tsunami in Japan, suggesting that the new weapons to which he refers are related to weather control technology, which has been intensely studied by both the U.S. and Russia since the 1950′s and is commonly used today.Threatening to annex Georgia completely, Zhirinovsky warned,And then there will be another tsunami, on the other side of the planet, in the Caucasus. Zhirinovsky’s reference to the Kuril Islands in connection with the devastating tsunami that hit Japan in March is a not so subtle suggestion that Russia had something to do with causing the natural disaster that killed thousands, led to the Fukushima crisis and threatened to derail Japan’s economic recovery.

Zhirinovsky also warned of a coming third world war emerging from the current turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa that would lead to the collapse of current global institutions like the EU and the WTO and the rise of a new international order led by Russia.Moscow has routinely employed the weather control technology of cloud seeding for decades to ensure sunny skies when military parades are taking place on national holidays, but turning the weather into a devastating weapon to be used in warfare is a frightening new prospect. However, as the revelations of weather modification expert Ben Livingston, a former Navy Physicist who briefed President Lyndon B. Johnson on the effectiveness of weather control back in the 1960′s during the Vietnam era, have documented, as far back as the early 1950′s the United States was funneling money into programs aimed at using the weather as a weapon during the cold war. It would be naive to think that the Russians weren’t engaged in similar research. Moreover, in an April 1997 speech to the University of Georgia, Athens, then US Secretary of Defense William Cohen spoke of the threat of an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves. For many years, suspicions have circulated around the purpose of the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP), an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the US Air Force, the US Navy, the University of Alaska and DARPA. In his underground bestseller Angels Don’t Play This HAARP, author Nick Begich summarizes the evidence that suggests HAARP is involved in weather control for nefarious purposes.Scientists at NASA have discovered A close link between electrical disturbances on the edge of our atmosphere and impending quakes on the ground below, which has led to claims that earthquakes are being artificially induced as a form of modern warfare by HAARP.

The technology to which Zhirinovsky refers is rapidly moving out of the realms of science fiction and into scientific fact as we progress further into the 21st century. While Zhirinovsky is a controversial character in Russia with an incendiary personality, he is nonetheless a major political player. Although Zhirinovsky has been dismissed as a clown and has made many offbeat comments in the past, it would be naive to dismiss him as being on the fringe. As well as being Vice-Chairman of the Russian State Duma and leader of the LDPR, Zhirinovsky is a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The deputy Duma speaker has announced his intention to run in the 2012 Russian presidential elections, where he is expected to finish third in the race.Zhirinovsky’s comments have been no less controversial in the past. He once advocated dropping nuclear bombs over the Atlantic Ocean to flood Great Britain. What are we to make of these remarkable comments? Is Zhirinovsky just a crank, or has he truly spilled the beans on Russia’s intention to unleash an arsenal of new weather warfare technology in its bid to dominate the globe?

Abbas Marches w/ Hamas in Ramallah
by Hillel Fendel MAY 16,11

Fatah and Hamas still don't get along that well - unless Yasser Arafat and anti-Israel ceremonies bring out their common denominator, as they did yesterday in Ramallah.Yesterday, for the first time in four years, Abbas and Hamas leaders marched together, and lay a wreath of flowers on the grave of arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat. Hamas does not view Arafat as its leader, but placed the flowers as a goodwill gesture to Fatah.Tens of thousands of Arabs arrived in the city for a Nakba Day parade. Ramallah is located practically adjacent to Beit El, some 25 kilometers north of Jerusalem, and is the headquarters for Abbas’ Fatah government. Also on Sunday, at the Kalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem, dozens of Arab rioters threw rocks at IDF soldiers, and violence broke out. Four rioters were arrested. Other Nakba Day flashpoints were in Bethlehem, along the Gaza border, and near Neveh Tzuf in the lower Shomron. It was announced that Fatah and Hamas leaders met in Gaza for talks over the weekend, in preparation for a high-level meeting in Cairo next week. On the agenda was the means to make the reconciliation agreement a success and remove all related obstacles in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.(Israel NationalNews.com)

Fukushima nuclear plant not built to take megaquake
By Mari Saito and Kevin Krolicki – Mon May 16, 10:10 am ET

TOKYO (Reuters) – The magnitude 9 earthquake that struck a Japanese nuclear plant in March hit with almost 30 percent more intensity than it had been designed to withstand, raising withstand, raising the possibility that key systems were compromised even before a massive tsunami hit.Embattled operator Tokyo Electric Power said Monday that partial data recovered from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi plant showed the ground acceleration during the quake exceeded its design specifications at three of the six reactors. This was clearly a larger earthquake than we had forecast, said Junichi Matsumoto, a Tepco spokesman for nuclear issues. It would have been hard to anticipate this. The March 11 quake and the nearly 15-meter (50-ft) tsunami that followed devastated Japan's northeastern coast and killed more than 15,000 people. Another 9,500 are still missing. The disaster also unleashed the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl. Some 80,000 residents around the plant some 240 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo have been evacuated because of the risk from radiation.Japanese officials have previously said the meltdown that took place in three of the reactors at Fukushima was caused by the loss of power to cooling systems when the tsunami knocked out backup diesel generators. Tepco has repeatedly called the combined disaster an event beyond expectations.

But new details released this week have called some of that account into question. At the same time, new data and inspections at the site have shown that the reactors suffered far more serious damage than previously thought and forced officials to abandon their initial approach to bringing the plant to a shutdown.Officials said it was not clear whether the Fukushima plant had been damaged by the quake and said an immediate inspection was impossible because of the all-hands effort to stabilize the reactors. But a finding that the reactors or key safety equipment were damaged by the quake itself could complicate the growing debate on the future of nuclear power in Japan at a time when Tokyo is under pressure to tighten safety standards.Prime Minister Naoto Kan has pledged a blank-slate review of Japan's energy policy in the wake of the accident. Under pressure for his handling of the crisis, Kan has won support for a decision to close a second nuclear plant seen at risk from a major earthquake.

COLD SHUTDOWN

Surveys released Monday showed that two-thirds of voters back Kan's move to call for the Hamaoka nuclear plant in central Japan to be shut down until it can be better defended against a disaster like the quake and tsunami that hit Fukushima. The government and Tepco are set to provide their first formal update on efforts to stabilize the Fukushima plant on Tuesday.Officials have said they will stick with a goal of shutting down the reactors by January. At that point of cold shutdown, the fuel in the reactors would be cool enough so that it would not be at risk of boiling off the water being pumped in as a coolant and radiation barrier.Once workers have gained control of Fukushima, attention could shift to the effort to retrieve the fuel from the site, including the melted uranium in three of the reactors, and send it to a more permanent storage site. Experts have said that could take a decade or more. The most important work is to cool the reactors with water and that is working, said Goshi Hosono, a special advisor to Kan on nuclear power.Japanese officials said this week what many outside experts had expected: that the uranium fuel in reactors Nos. 1, 2 and 3 had melted down hours after the quake. Hosono said outside experts had also told him that the fuel in the No. 1 reactor appeared to have leaked out of the steel vessel designed to contain it at the core. The effort to shut down the plant has also been complicated by the growing pool of radioactive water backing up inside the reactors and attached buildings because of leaks, officials have said.

Japan's government has promised an independent audit of the Fukushima disaster, including whether a faster response or a quicker venting of radioactive steam could have prevented powerful hydrogen explosions and the meltdowns. We can certainly say that if the venting took place a little earlier, we could have prevented the situation from worsening, Nuclear Safety Commission Chairman Haruki Madarame told parliament. In another instance of an apparent error in judgment, Tepco said that a worker may have shut down a cooling system known as the isolation condenser shortly after the earthquake when he saw that the No. 1 reactor was losing temperature quicker than the utility's guidelines allowed. At the time, we could not have known that the tsunami was coming and that we would lose power, Matsumoto said.(Additional reporting by Chisa Fujioka; Editing by Alex Richardson)

WELL NOW GAY BAY ANDERSON COOPER HAS A CNN PATNER FROM THE SODOMITE RAINBOW GROUP DON LEMON.

CNN anchorman Don Lemon comes out as a gay man
– Mon May 16, 7:09 pm ET

NEW YORK – CNN anchor Don Lemon has come out as a gay man in his new book, a disclosure he knows comes at a risk. While Lemon's memoir, titled Transparent, also covers his journalism career, he's prepared for much of the reaction to focus on more personal matters, which include growing up without a father and his revelation that he was sexually abused as a child. In his book, the 45-year-old Lemon writes of having lived with dark, ugly secrets that took him years to bring into the light.

Being black made being gay feel even worse, he said in an interview Monday, because of how the black community perceives a gay person. An African-American male is taught that he has to be masculine. And our community is steeped in religion, with the church preaching against homosexuality. I prayed a lot growing up that I would change, that I would be straight, he said. But no matter how good I was, how much I prayed and denied what I was, it was always there.Lemon says it would be naive to assume that the public won't have strong opinions about what he has written, and he's braced for some people to react negatively. But it's important for everyone to be truthful about who they are, he said, adding that CNN has been very supportive of his decision to go public.Few national television news anchors have publicly acknowledged being gay, with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow perhaps the best known.Lemon, who serves as a correspondent and anchors CNN Newsroom during weekend prime time, joined the network in 2003. Transparent will be released next month.Online:

BOJ Shirakawa says Japan economy in severe state after By Leika Kihara – MAY 16,11

TOKYO (Reuters) – Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa said the country's economy was in a very severe state due to damage from the March earthquake, signaling that the central bank was sticking to its ultra-loose monetary policy bias.
Shirakawa repeated that the BOJ would do its utmost to beat deflation but added that any price rises needed to be driven by solid economic growth, emphasizing the need for policies to boost Japan's potential growth.Deflation is a very serious problem. But the more serious problem is that Japan's economic strength is gradually declining, Shirakawa told a parliamentary committee meeting on Tuesday.Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda told the same committee that beating deflation was a top priority for the government, even as it battles to contain the damage from the devastating earthquake.(Reporting by Leika Kihara; Editing by Edmund Klamann)

Israel-Palestinian violence erupts on three borders
By Douglas Hamilton – APR 16,11

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli troops shot Palestinian protesters who surged toward its frontiers with Syria, Lebanon and Gaza on Sunday, killing at least 13 people on the day Palestinians mourn the establishment of Israel in 1948.In the deadliest such confrontation in years of anniversary clashes usually confined to the West Bank and Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire in three separate border locations to prevent crowds of demonstrators from crossing frontier lines. The new challenge to Israel came from the borders of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Gaza -- all home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who fled or were driven out in 1948.Combined with a public relations disaster last year over the killing of pro-Palestinian activists in a Gaza aid flotilla and a determined Palestinian diplomatic drive to win U.N. recognition of statehood in September this year, the bloody border protests raised the stakes further for Israel.Israel's leaders condemned the incidents as provocations inspired by Iran, to exploit Palestinian nationalist feeling fueled by the popular revolts of the Arab Spring, and to draw attention from major internal unrest in Syria, Iran's ally.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he hoped the confrontations would not escalate. We hope the calm and quiet will quickly return. But let nobody be misled: we are determined to defend our borders and sovereignty,Netanyahu said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, whose Fatah movement holds sway in the Israeli occupied West Bank and is ready to negotiate peace with Israel, said in a televised address that those killed were martyrs to the Palestinian cause.Their precious blood will not be wasted. It was spilled for the sake of our nation's freedom,Abbas said.

HAMAS PRAISES CLASHES

But Islamist Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip and which last month sealed a surprise reconciliation pact with its bitter rival Fatah, issued a warning that Palestinians would accept nothing less than return to all lands lost in 1948.
Spokesman Taher Al-Nono praised the crowds we have seen in Palestine, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon as evidence of imminent victory and return to the original homes as promised by God.In an apparent contradiction of suggestions that Hamas might ditch its rejection of Israel's right to exist, he said there was no alternative to recovering all land lost in 1948.Israeli security forces had been on alert for violence on Sunday, the day Palestinians mourn the Nakba, or catastrophe, of Israel's founding in a 1948 war, when hundreds of thousands of their brethren fled or were forced to leave their homes.A call had gone out on Facebook urging Palestinians to demonstrate on Israel's borders.Lebanon's army said 10 Palestinians died as Israeli forces shot at rock-throwing protesters to prevent them from entering the Jewish State from Lebanese territory. They said 112 people had been wounded in the shooting incident in the Lebanese border village of Maroun al-Ras.The protesters overcame the Lebanese army and marched toward the security fence and started throwing stones, Reuters cameraman Ezzat Baltaji said, from Maroun al-Ras village.Syrian media reports said Israeli gunfire killed two people after dozens of Palestinians infiltrated the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights from Syria, along a front line that has been largely tranquil for decades.Syria condemned Israel's criminal activities. This appears to be a cynical and transparent act by the Syrian leadership to deliberately create a crisis on the border so as to distract attention from the very real problems that regime is facing at home, said a senior Israeli government official, who declined to be named.Syria is a police state. People don't randomly approach the border without the approval of the regime. On Sunday, hundreds of protesters flooded the lush green valley that marks the border area, waving Palestinian flags. Israeli troops attempted to mend the breached fence, firing at what the army described as infiltrators. We are seeing here an Iranian provocation, on both the Syrian and the Lebanese frontiers, to try to exploit the Nakba day commemorations, said the army's chief spokesman, Brigadier-General Yoav Mordechai.

Syria is home to 470,000 Palestinian refugees and its leadership, now facing fierce internal unrest, had in previous years prevented protesters from reaching the frontier area.To the southeast, on Jordan's desert border with Israel, Jordanian police fired teargas to disperse hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists gathered at a border village.Israeli forces did not fire over the Jordanian border. On Israel's tense border with Gaza, Israeli gunfire wounded 82 demonstrators nearing the fence, medics said. Israeli forces said they shot a man trying to plant a bomb near the border. In Tel Aviv, Israel's commercial hub, a truck driven by an Arab Israeli slammed into vehicles and pedestrians, killing one man and injuring 17 people.
Police were trying to determine whether that incident was an accident or an attack. Witnesses said the driver, who was arrested, deliberately ran amok with his truck in traffic. In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Palestinian youths and Israeli forces clashed for hours at the main checkpoint dividing the Ramallah from Jerusalem, a constant flashpoint.Palestinians threw rocks and soldiers fired rubber bullets and teargas to drive them away from the Qalandia checkpoint. In Egypt, police fired teargas to force back several hundred pro-Palestinian demonstrators who had broken through a barricade in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo, witnesses said.

ALERT

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said the border challenge was foreseen, but not easy for Israel to handle. For months we have been discussing the possibility of the organization of mass processions. I don't think there is a magic solution for all situations,he told Israeli television. The Palestinians' transition from terror carried out by suicide bombers to mass demonstrations, on purpose without weapons, is a transition that poses many challenges. And we will deal with them in the future, Barak said. The day's bloodshed will complicate decisions to be made by President Barack Obama, who is due to deliver a major Middle East policy speech on Thursday.U.S.-brokered peace talks between the Palestinians and Israel broke down last year and no new negotiations are in the offing, with the U.S. Middle East peace envoy George Mitchell announcing his resignation last week.

Israel blocks anti-war activists' ship from Gaza
– Mon May 16, 8:04 am ET

JERUSALEM – The Israeli military on Monday blocked a Malaysian anti-war group's ship from reaching the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.Israel maintains a naval blockade of Gaza and restricts goods transferred overland to the Palestinian territory, citing concerns they could be used to attack Israel. The military said it ordered the ship to return to an Egyptian port where it had been anchored for several days. But it said the vessel disregarded the order, prompting it to fire warning shots. The ship then changed course to return to Egypt. The Malaysian group, the Perdana Global Peace Foundation, said its ship was fired at when it tried to reach Gaza. The military denied firing at the ship.

Perdana said no one was injured.

Gaza's prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, condemned what he called Israeli piracy and urged other flotillas to attempt to break the Israeli blockade so Gaza can have freedom of movement to the outside world. An aid flotilla is scheduled to depart for Gaza in the third week of June, about a year after Israeli forces raided a similar flotilla and killed nine people on a Turkish boat, the Mavi Marmara.Israeli military officials have confirmed that preparations are under way to stop any new flotilla.

Maple sees TMX proposal allowing for int'l growth
– MAY 16,11

TORONTO (Reuters) – A proposal by a group of Canadian banks and pension funds to take over the operator of the Toronto Stock Exchange offers cost savings and opportunities for international growth, the group said on Monday.A consortium calling itself the Maple Group Acquisition Corp is proposing a C$3.6 billion ($3.7 billion) deal to buy TMX Group, aiming to derail a $3 billion friendly bid for the exchange operator from the London Stock Exchange.LSE and TMX have also touted their deal, announced in February, as creating a more diversified and international company.Their proposed combination has raised concerns in Canada about a national institution falling under control of a foreign-based company.Shares of TMX surged 6.6 percent in early trade on Monday to C$44.42.(Reporting by Pav Jordan and Solarina Ho; Writing by Frank McGurty)

Euro zone to back Portugal aid, IMF deputy to attend
By Jan Strupczewski and Ingrid Melander – MAY 16,11

BRUSSELS/ATHENS (Reuters) – Euro zone finance ministers are expected to approve the EU/IMF bailout of Portugal at a meeting on Monday and will discuss further steps Greece must take to meet deficit-reduction targets. The meeting, overshadowed by the arrest of International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn on sexual assault charges, will also assess demands by Finland that private sector investors carry more of the risk in Portugal's aid package, and that the country begin privatizations to raise capital.Strauss-Kahn, who has been at the heart of EU/IMF negotiations over bailouts for Greece, Portugal and Ireland, was supposed to attend the meeting, but Deputy Managing Director Nemat Shafik will be there instead, the organization said. His absence from the top rank of IMF decision-making is not expected to affect any of the bailouts in the short term, but could have an impact in the longer term if it leads to a change in the nature and style of the IMF's involvement.Strauss-Kahn, who has been at the IMF for nearly four years, is seen as having made the organization less doctrinaire when it comes to providing assistance to struggling sovereign countries, leading it to take a less strict, more pro-growth stance. The European Commission, which negotiated the Portuguese bailout and earlier assistance packages for Greece and Ireland alongside the IMF, dismissed suggestions Strauss-Kahn's arrest would have any impact on any of the programs.I would like to reassure public opinion, the markets and the press, there's absolutely no question: decisions which are under way will not be impacted and this will not have an impact on the programs being applied,Commission spokesman Amadeu Altafaj told reporters.
Ahead of the meeting, sources said EU and IMF inspectors would tell euro zone finance ministers they were not yet happy with Greece's proposed budget steps and that more talks were needed on fiscal and privatizations plans.

DIFFERENT TERMS FOR PORTUGAL?

Portugal's 78 billion euro bailout, finalized this month, will involve loans over three years to provide budget support, aid with reforms and help with recapitalizing its banks. The plan needs to be approved unanimously by euro zone finance ministers. Finland's parliament set conditions for its approval on Friday, saying Lisbon had to ask private bondholders to maintain their exposure to Portuguese debt and that Lisbon should embark on a privatization program to raise funds. If euro zone finance ministers agree to the Finnish demands, it will mark a change from the terms given to Ireland and Greece, which did not mention any need for private investors to maintain their exposure to the countries' debt.I believe the program fulfils all their conditions and their concerns, Portugal's finance minister, Fernando Teixeira dos Santos, told reporters as he arrived for the meeting.I am confident the program will raise no big issues in our discussions this afternoon.Ministers are expected to agree that Portugal will pay an interest rate of between 5.5 and 6.0 percent for its loans. That is in line with the borrowing cost set by the initial euro zone agreement on emergency funding through the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF), rather than a more favorable EFSF lending rate EU leaders suggested in March.Euro zone leaders lowered Greek loan rates, originally about 5.2 percent, to 4.2 percent in March. But the 5.8 percent on loans to Ireland was not cut, because of a dispute over its company tax rate, which France and Germany see as too low.Ministers, including the Irish finance minister, said there would be no movement on Ireland's loans on Monday.Despite its lower borrowing costs, Greece is pushing for an extension of the maturities on its loans and possibly an even lower interest rate, because it is struggling to finance itself, with total debts now at 150 percent of GDP.

RESTRUCTURING?

Many analysts expect Greece to have to restructure its debts at some point, but the European Commission, European Central Bank and others have repeatedly ruled out the possibility.Debt restructuring is not in the cards for Greece, the Commission's Altafaj said on Monday, although he later did not rule out a reprofiling of Greece's debt. Some analysts have described reprofiling as akin to rescheduling, with the value of the debt not being marked down but the time for repayment being extended, thus changing the profile of the yield curve and giving the debtor more time to repay.Reprofiling is one concept, debt restructuring is a different concept, Altafaj said.It doesn't involve necessarily even the same players and doesn't have the same consequences,he said, adding that restructuring Greek debt would be devastating for the country.Dutch Finance Minister Jan Kees De Jager said finance ministers discussed all sorts of issues, including restructuring, privately, but would not do so publicly.A euro zone source involved in the preparations for the ministers' meeting told Reuters additional Greek financing needs in 2012 and 2013 would be discussed. The source said countries in the single currency area could come up with additional funding for Greece only if Athens met the fiscal consolidation and reform targets to which it is already committed, and which would require new steps.

IMF head Strauss-Kahn accused of 2002 sex assault
– MAY 16,11

PARIS – A lawyer for a 31-year-old novelist says she plans to file a criminal complaint accusing International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her nine years ago.A political rival also accuses Strauss-Kahn of a long-term pattern of sexual misconduct. The accusations are shocking France and fueling a reexamination of Strauss-Kahn's reputation as a womanizer.Tristane Banon's attorney says that after the 2002 attack she was dissuaded from filing charges by her mother, a regional councilor in Strauss-Kahn's Socialist party.Strauss-Kahn faces charges of attempted rape and criminal sexual contact after a hotel maid accused him of a weekend attack in New York.Lawyer David Koubbi tells RTL radio that Banon now knows she'll be taken seriously.

Oil falls as fears about Gulf flooding ease
By The Associated Press – MAY 16,11

Oil is falling as fears ease that Gulf Coast refineries may be affected by flooding.
Benchmark oil for June delivery fell 89 cents to $98.76 a barrel in Monday morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange. In London, Brent crude for June delivery fell 33 cents to $112.98 on the ICE Futures exchange.Over the weekend the Army Corps of Engineers opened two massive gates at the Morganza spillway in an effort to protect Baton Rouge, La., and New Orleans from Mississippi River floodwaters.Meanwhile, gas pump prices are beginning to fall with oil lower. The national average is $3.955 a gallon for regular. That's still nearly 14 cents more than a month ago but down about half a cent from a week ago.

Arrest of IMF chief to complicate EU bailout talks
VALENTINA POP Today MAY 16,11 @ 09:29 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - The arrest on sexual assault charges of International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, a supporter of eurozone bailouts, is set to complicate Greece's bid to extend its EU-IMF loan as euro finance ministers gather in Brussels on Monday (16 May). The euro fell half a cent on the Asian markets on Monday morning amid confusion over what will happen to the Greek bailout following the sensational arrest of the French centre-left politician.
Tipped to become French President Nicolas Sarkozy's main rival in the 2012 elections, Strauss-Kahn was detained in New York on Sunday shortly after boarding a flight to Germany, where he was to hold talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel ahead of the eurozone talks on Monday. The US court is to hold a first hearing later today, after a 32-year old maid accused him of trying to rape her in a luxury suite in the Sofitel hotel. She told detectives he came out of the bathroom naked, ran down a hallway to the foyer where she was, pulled her into a bedroom and began to sexually assault her, New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said. She pulled away from him and he dragged her down a hallway into the bathroom where he engaged in a criminal sexual act, according to her account to detectives. He tried to lock her into the hotel room. The maid escaped and went to the police. Strauss-Kahn left the hotel, but forgot to take his mobile phone. He later called and asked about his mobile, which helped police to track him to the airport. The 62-year old says he did nothing wrong. His wife, Anne Sinclair, a prominent French journalist, also said he will be proved innocent. But reports of alleged assaults on other women are beginning to come out in the press. The news came as a shock to the IMF, with top officials grappling to cope with the leadership crisis on Sunday.

Deputy IMF chief John Lipsky, an American official, stepped in as acting managing director, while Egyptian economist Nemat Shafik is to replace Strauss-Kahn at the eurozone ministers' meeting in the EU capital. The scandal is also likely to impact the appointment of his successor. So far the IMF has always been headed by a European with an American deputy. But the recent developments may fuel calls from emerging economies to hand over the chairmanship to someone from Asia or Latin America.
Eurozone ministers on Monday night are expected to finalise together with the IMF the details of an aid package for Portugal and to discuss how best to deal with Greece's massive debt burden.Greece is facing trouble repaying bonds, despite its a multi-billion-euro EU-IMF loan agreed last year. Germany has called for even deeper budget cuts and privatisations if Athens is to receive extra money or an extension of its loan repayments.Greece must intensify its consolidation efforts ECB executive board member Juergen Stark told the Berlin-based Tagesspiegel newspaper in an interview to be published today. False policies going back years have to be corrected -- debt forgiveness wouldn't change this.

Paper tariffs spark EU-China trade war
ANDREW WILLIS Today MAY 16,11 @ 09:07 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - China has said it will retaliate against a landmark EU decision to slap tariffs on fine-coated paper imports, heralding the start of a new trade war between the two sides, say experts. On Saturday (15 May) Chinese commerce spokesman Yao Jian said an EU decision to impose anti-subsidy and anti-dumping duties on the same product is against World Trade Organisation rules.Yao said Beijing would move to protect the interest of local companies. The Chinese side is strongly discontent with the EU's wrong decision and will firmly oppose it,Yao said in a statement posted on the ministry's website.Hours earlier the EU announced its intention to raise tariffs on Chinese exports of high-end glossy paper used for magazines and catalogues. It is the first time the European Commission has acted against subsidies which EU manufacturers say give Chinese firms an unfair advantage on international markets. The main subsidy given to the Chinese paper makers is cheap funding from government-controlled banks, with the EU duties set to last five years, said the commission.

This is the first time we have ever put in place measures against the strategic and targeted subsidisation of a specific industry by the Chinese government, said commission trade spokesman John Clancy.Today's measures will restore effective and fair trade conditions on the EU market.Experts said the move was likely to start of a series of tit-for-tat retaliations and worsening trade relations between the two sides. As the EU subsidises local production in various sectors, China is not short of sectors to retaliate against, Hosuk Lee-Makiyama of the Brussels-based European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) think-tank said in a policy brief.
It has already imposed a tariff on potato starch from the EU and more cases are forthcoming,he added.A trade war with China on subsidies seems now unavoidable.

EU research scheme too complex for companies
HONOR MAHONY 03.05.2011 @ 10:51 CET

EUOBSERVER / INNOVATION - The European Union's bid to turn itself into an innovation powerhouse is all well and good, say experts, but the amount of EU money needed to power research and creativity is too difficult to access.Viewing this decade as something of an economic make-or-break period as it nervously watches the rise of China and India, the EU has said it will focus its research and development money on projects that will help tackle some of its most pressing problems, such as the effects of climate change and energy shortages.Yet the EU's multi-annual framework research programme - the biggest in the world with €52 billion in the pot between 2007 and 2013 - undermines the goal by being so cumbersome as to make it uninteresting for companies.Bureaucracy, inefficiency and time lags, as well as the reporting requirements, has made the programme virtually impossible for small- and medium-sized companies, said Errki Ormala, vice-president of corporate relations at Finnish mobile phone company Nokia. Some people even claim that sometimes industry feels that the transactions costs are higher than the money than they get from Brussels.Projects potentially in line for EU money are evaluated and ranked by experts. Their recommendations are then passed onto the commission, which OKs the list and runs it by member states. A contract then has to be drawn up and signed.

With the member states' committee meeting only every now and then and the sheer logistics of getting all those involved in the project around the negotiating table, and then getting all of them to agree to the tweaks and fine-tuning to the project proposal, the entire process can take well over a year.if you want to get something into the market-place fast, having to wait 12 months is not very encouraging, said Christopher Hull, secretary general of Earto, an EU umbrella organisation for research and technology organisations.Hull reckons the EU procedure could realistically be chopped to six months - the fastest national programmes are as short as three months.Complaints about the EU research programme soared during the last multi-annual budget (1999-2006) when, with an eye on public perceptions, the commission had a period of over-zealous auditing and finicky application of the rules. In reaction to the criticism, it launched a simplification programme. But the move has yet to take full effect. One EU diplomat involved in research issues says that aside from the process taking an awfully long time there are still problems with conflicting interpretations of the rules between different European Commission departments and exuberant audits by the commission which are particularly difficult for resource-restricted small and medium-sized businesses to handle. An interim evaluation of research funding for 2007-2013 published late last year says that the lack of progress on many known problems is disappointing.Whether the commission has actually simplified matters is also up for question. One research institution complained that there were around 700 new rules to contend with when applying for EU research money.MEPs are also urging the commission to shake up the rules for the next research programme. Brussels is currently discussing the matter with stakeholders.A report on simplification adopted by the European Parliament late last year said called for a radical overhaul of the system, castigating the executive for its bureaucratic approach to the issue.Auditing should be made easier, the rules made simpler and more scientifically-based and the commission should curb its tendency for over-zealous micro-management, say MEPs.

6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Manitoba controlled flood plan appears to be working
– Sun May 15, 5:06 pm ET

VANCOUVER (Reuters) – Manitoba's plan to open a dike on the swollen Assiniboine River to avoid a potentially catastrophic unplanned flood appears to be working, officials in the Canadian Prairie province said on Sunday.Water is flowing through the cut made in a dike east of the community of Portage la Prairie on Saturday, and is spreading over the flat land of southern Manitoba were farmers would normally be planting wheat, canola and vegetables.Officials estimated on Sunday the flood would cover up to 72 square miles (180 square km) of land over the next few days, but that is down from the 90 square miles (225 square km) they had estimated on Saturday. The release has helped eased pressure on other dikes along the rain-swollen river that authorities had feared would fail and flood more than 520 square miles (1,300 square km).Today, even though more water is coming down the Assiniboine River, water levels downstream of the controlled release have not risen, the provincial government said in a statement on Sunday. The flood threat has forced more than 3,300 Manitoba residents from their homes, including 1,300 in Brandon, the province's second largest city, which is upstream from where the dike was opened.About 1,500 military troops have been called in to help local volunteers with sandbag operations.(Reporting Allan Dowd; Editing by Peter Cooney)

Strong earthquake strikes off Papua New Guinea
– Sun May 15, 9:46 pm ET

SYDNEY – A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The magnitude-6.5 quake struck 76 miles (122 kilometers) west of Arawa, the capital of Bougainville province, at a depth of 27 miles (43 kilometers), the U.S. Geological Survey said. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat of a destructive, widespread tsunami and that sea-level gauges in the region showed no unusual wave activity. But the agency did say earthquakes of this size can sometimes generate tsunamis along coasts within 60 miles (100 kilometers) of the epicenter.Bill Yomba, an official with Papua New Guinea's National Disaster Center, said there were no reports of any tsunamis striking the coast or of any injuries or damage.Earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively common in Papua New Guinea. The country lies on the Ring of Fire — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones that stretches around the Pacific Rim and where about 90 percent of the world's quakes occur.

Mike Huckabee Out; Sarah Palin In?
ContributorNetwork Mark Whittington – Sun May 15, 2:03 pm ET

Mike Huckabee, the amiable former governor of Arkansas and Fox News media personality, has decided after all not to run for president. It seems that he does not want to be president and is instead happy doing what he is doing. That leaves the question, if not Huckabee, then who? The former governor had a big following among social conservatives, a considerable voting bloc in the Republican Party. Now that voting bloc has to find someone else to rally around. But whom? There are a few people one can automatically cross off the list. Donald Trump has too much of a playboy image. Ron Paul's libertarian views on social issues are too off putting. Mitt Romney is seen as a Northeastern liberal. Newt Gingrich, while he will make a play for the social conservatives as a repentant sinner, still has the divorce issue hanging around his neck. The safe but boring candidates, such as Tim Pawlenty and Mitch Daniels, might have some appeal, Daniels' somewhat interesting marital history notwithstanding. Rick Santorum might have a shot, though he is considered a long shot candidate. That leaves us to the one person that the pundits are writing off, albeit prematurely. Her name is Sarah Palin, whose existence is the unacknowledged 800-pound Mama Grizzly in the room.

Bad poll numbers aside, Palin seems uniquely positioned to take advantage of Huckabee's absence from the race. Unique of all the other potential candidates, she has appeal for social, economic and national security conservatives. She appeals to the latter two because of her cogent critique of Obama administration policies. She appeals to the first because of herself, her conservative religious lifestyle, and her obviously cohesive, loving family. Even her daughter Bristol Palin's history fits into the appeal; there is nothing evangelicals love more than a story of sin, repentance, and redemption. What is more, a plurality of Republicans have announced themselves to be dissatisfied with the current presidential candidates. No one running or having been mentioned to run seems to stir the blood. That seems to be the perfect door for the Lady from Wasilla, someone proven to be able to bring a hundred thousand partisans to their feet, to pass through. The question remains, though, will she?

Blackwater founder builds foreign force in UAE: report– Sun May 15, 6:26 pm ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The crown prince of Abu Dhabi has hired the founder of private security firm Blackwater Worldwide to set up an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the United Arab Emirates, the New York Times said Sunday. The Times said it obtained documents that showed the unit being formed by Erik Prince's new company Reflex Responses with $529 million from the UAE would be used to thwart internal revolt, conduct special operations and defend oil pipelines and skyscrapers from attack. The newspaper said the decision to hire the contingent of foreign troops was taken before a wave of popular unrest spread across the Arab world in recent months, including to the UAE's Gulf neighbors Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia. The UAE itself has seen no serious unrest. Most of its population is made up of foreign workers.Blackwater, which once had lucrative contracts to protect U.S. officials in Iraq, became notorious in the region in 2007 when its guards opened fire in Baghdad traffic, killing at least 14 people in what the Iraqi government called a massacre.

One former Blackwater guard pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges in those killings, and a U.S. court reinstated charges against five others last month. Prince has since sold the firm, which changed its name to Xe. The firm denies wrongdoing.
The newspaper said the Emirates, a close ally of the United States, had some support in Washington for Prince's new project, although it was not clear if it had official U.S. approval. Two UAE government officials contacted by Reuters declined immediate comment on the New York Times report, and the U.S. embassy in the UAE also had no immediate comment. It was not possible to locate Prince for comment. The Times quoted a U.S. official who was aware of the program as saying: The Gulf countries, and the UAE in particular, don't have a lot of military experience. It would make sense if they looked outside their borders for help.State Department spokesman Mark Toner told The Times the department was investigating to see if the project broke any U.S. laws. U.S. law requires a license for American citizens to train foreign troops. The UAE military said in a statement that "all engagements of commercial entities by the UAE Armed Forces are compliant with international Law and relevant conventions. The UAE armed forces currently engage a number of third parties, such as Spectre, which delivers academy training capabilities; Horizon, a pilot training partner and R2 which provides operational, planning and training support, said the statement carried by the state news agency WAM.The statement did not name Blackwater or Prince.

NO MUSLIMS

Toner also pointed out that Blackwater had paid $42 million in fines in 2010 for training foreign forces in Jordan without a license, the Times said.According to former employees of the project and U.S. officials cited by the Times, the troops were brought to a training camp in the UAE from Colombia, South Africa and other countries, starting in the summer of 2010.They were being trained by retired U.S. military, and former members of German and British special operations units and the French Foreign Legion, the Times said.Prince had insisted the force hire no Muslims, because they could not be counted on to kill fellow Muslims, the paper said.Former employees also told the newspaper the Emirates hoped the force could be used to counter any threat from Iran, which the Arab states in the Gulf consider a foe.
Although The Times said the documents it had obtained did not mention Erik Prince, former employees had told the newspaper he had negotiated the contract with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.Emirati officials had proposed expanding the force to a brigade of several thousand if the first battalion was successful, the newspaper said.(Additional reporting by Mahmoud Habboush; editing by Andrew Roche)

Russia wants US guarantees on missile shield
By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV, Associated Press – MAY 16,11

MOSCOW – Russia wants the United States to provide Moscow with guarantees that a prospective U.S.-led missile shield wouldn't threaten its security, a senior Russia official said Monday.Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned that Washington's refusal to provide such guarantees could derail efforts by Russia and NATO to cooperate on missile defense. We can't base our security on assurances and promises, we need a legally-binding agreement, Ryabkov told lawmakers during parliamentary hearings. He said that Moscow was disappointed by a negative U.S. reaction to its demand.Russia considers the U.S.-led missile defense plans as a potential threat to its security. It has agreed to consider NATO's proposal last fall to cooperate on the missile shield, but insisted that the system should be run jointly. NATO has rejected that demand.Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that a failure to reach a deal on the issue could force Russia to deploy new offensive weapons, triggering a new arms race.A landmark arms control treaty called New START has helped improve relations between Moscow and Washington, but Russia has continued to view U.S. missile defense plans with suspicion.Ryabkov said Monday that the existing U.S. missile defense elements don not pose a threat to Russia, but the situation may chance in the future. The current configuration doesn't undermine our strategic security, but we lack guarantees that it will remain the same in the future, he said.

Ryabkov warned that the development of U.S. missile defense could undermine the New START.While the New START doesn't prevent the U.S. from building new missile defense systems, Russia has stated that it could withdraw from the treaty if it feels threatened by such a system in future. The Kremlin's envoy to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, told lawmakers Monday that NATO had rejected Moscow's push for a missile shield that would be operated jointly. They told us that NATO doesn't outsource its security to non-members,Rogozin said. But why then their system's range reaches all the way to the Urals? We haven't asked anyone to protect our territory.
