When Breaking Israel News first reported on an apocalyptic scenario involving a mysterious star or planet whose tail is expected to result in extensive damage to Earth’s land masses and death to millions, the story was met with plenty of skepticism.Since then, however, the connection between the planet Nibiru – also known as Planet X – and End of Days has been discussed with increasingly seriousness by a wide range of Jewish scholars.To date, the biggest name associated with this story is Rav Moshe Sternbuch, a very prominent rabbi in Jerusalem. Although he did not verify an apocalyptic scenario, he did tell his student, Rabbi Daniel Travis, that there are big changes coming to the world. He also explained that the appearance of a star at the End of Days is plainly spoken of in the Zohar, Judaism’s primary mystical text.A translation of Rabbi Sternbuch’s Zohar reference is available on a new blog Tracking Nibiru, maintained by the End of Days blogger Tomer Devorah. Excerpts from the relevant passage read:At that time Melech Hamoshiach (Messiah the King) will awaken and go out from Gan Eden (Garden of Eden), from the place called Kan Tzippor, and will be revealed in the Galil (Galilee)…. A star will arise from the East side, flaming with all colors, and seven other stars will go around this star and make a war with it on all sides three times a day for 70 days, and all the people of the world will see.In a video filmed on February 14, Travis recounts his conversation with Sternbuch and translates the extended passage from the Zohar. Although sections of the passage are obscure, Travis said, “We should at least know that we’re not in simple times. We see many of the signs of Moshiach (Messiah) already happened.”Continuing with his commentary on the passage, Travis teaches that the person who is alive in the time of the Messiah is both to be pitied and envied. “Hashem (God) is going to look at the world at the time when Moshiach is supposed to come and see that nobody is worthy. He’s going to have to bring tremendous yissurim (trials) onto the world in order that Moshiach should come.”Travis continues translating the passage from the Zohar. “It’s going to be a test in emunah (faith in God). Happy is the person who is going to be in the time of Moshiach. Whoever holds onto emunah is going to see unbelievable things.”-The end is near. Are you ready?-Travis translates the words of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, 2nd century sage and author of the Zohar. “The task is to remain in emunah during this time. We’re going to see things happening that we don’t have any way of understanding. It’s going to be things that are beyond belief. It’s going to make the Exodus from Egypt look like nothing. Every day it’s going to be worse and we’re going to forget what it was like the day before. Whoever has emunah at this time will merit to see the end.”Travis assures his audience that Jerusalem and the Land of Israel will be safe. He quotes a verse from Psalms 126:2. “‘Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing.’ Why will we laugh? It’s going to be a totally different world. Definitely big things are brewing and we have to be ready for that.”A day later, Bible Codes expert Rabbi Mattiyahu Glazerson released a video about Nibiru. The table used in both videos comes from the Book of Deuteronomy. In this video, Glazerson points out Bible Codes for “threat of a star” which crosses with the Hebrew word shaveet (comet). These Codes are found in close proximity, an indication of the strength of their relationship. Glazerson also found the word Nibiru.Linking all this to today, Glazerson points out Messiah son of Joseph and Messiah son of David and 5776, the current Hebrew year. Glazerson points to the Code referring to the year after Shemita as one of the signs that Messiah is on the way. Putting the pieces together, Glazerson states, “Everything indicates that great things are going to happen.”In a second video, Glazerson points out a reference to the month of March and the corresponding Hebrew month of Adar Bet and affirms that this all fits with the passage from the Zohar about the star. In leap years, which occur seven times every 19 years in the Hebrew calendar, an additional month of Adar, called Adar Alef is added. In a leap year, the “regular” month of Adar is referred to as Adar Bet.A third rabbinic voice to speak openly about Nibiru is Rabbi Yuval Ovadia, a maker of spiritual films. In a radio interview on February 17, Ovadia shared his findings that Planet X was well-known and spoken about openly approximately 40 years ago. He claims to have many newspaper articles about the existence of Nibiru from that time.“And then,” Ovadia claims, “it went down. NASA put it in a complete silence. They didn’t talk about it. And it was like just out there for [anyone believing] in mysticism and stuff like that, but as far as science, it’s completely vanished, as if it did not exist and even they started to, you know, spread around ‘It’s not true. It’s not there.’”Nibiru has consistently been debunked by scientists and journalists, most recently in Joel Achenbach’s story in the Washington Post.The date most frequently associated with Nibiru is March 26, 2016. In a matter of weeks, the entire world will know whether or not Nibiru exists and whether or not it represents a Messianic advancement.

Ontario budget 2016: Liberals' cap and trade expected to generate $1.9B-New program will begin on Jan. 1, 2017 and is seen as key to Ontario reaching emissions targets-By John Rieti, CBC News Posted: Feb 25, 2016 4:23 PM ET Last Updated: Feb 25, 2016 5:06 PM ET

The average household could pay about $13 per month more in energy and fuel costs by 2017 under Ontario's new cap and trade plan, but the Liberal government is banking on that additional money going a long way toward creating green infrastructure in the province.Ontario announced new details about its cap and trade plan in its 2016 budget on Thursday, saying it will bring in $1.9 billion per year starting in 2017, making it by far the province's largest new revenue generator. That money, the government has promised, will be spent on initiatives to cut greenhouse gases (GHG), including investments in public transit, clean technology and making homes and businesses more energy efficient.That reinvestment includes money that will go back to households. The budget claims electricity bills, for example, will go down by $2 per month, though government officials say how that will be accomplished has yet to be determined.Meanwhile, gas prices are set to go up by 4.3 cents per litre, while monthly heating costs for the average home are projected to climb by $5 — estimates that are based on the current price of carbon."Ontario is investing in the global low-carbon economy and we will reap the economic and jobs benefits," Finance Minister Charles Sousa said at Queen's Park.Sousa was pressed by reporters about the effect the plan will have on middle-class Ontarians who will have to pay more every month. "You didn't read the budget," Sousa fired back at one reporter, adding the additional costs will be offset with government reinvestment.Program begins in 2017-BC Carbon Tax 20080701-Ontarians will pay about 4.3 cents per litre more at the pump once cap and trade begins in 2017, based on current carbon prices, the government said in its budget.The program, which will begin on Jan. 1, 2017, will affect everyone, but it has the most impact on industries, institutions and electricity generators and distributors that produce over 25,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year. They will be required to buy allowances for their emissions.The province will place a cap on greenhouse gas emissions and create limited emissions allowances (one tonne of GHG will equal one allowance) for a given period based on the cap.Those who reduce their emissions can benefit by selling any excess allowances in the carbon market. Ontario emitted about 171 million tonnes of GHG in 2013, the most recent year provided by staff. The emissions cap will then continue to shrink by 4.17 per cent per year until at least 2020 for the heating and transportation fuel sector industries, though the electricity generation sector won't face a smaller cap due to the significant cut to emissions resulting from the elimination of coal-fired plants.Ontario is counting on cap and trade plan to help it reach its 2020 target of getting GHG emissions to 15 per cent below 1990 levels.Some industries get a break-Hamilton Air Quality ArcelorMittal Dofasco-Some emissions-intensive industries will get free allowances from the government for the first years of the program. Industries such as cement, steel and lime businesses, as well as auto manufacturers, will get free allowances from the government for the first years of the program to provide certainty around how cap and trade operates. Ontario didn't release a full list of those qualifying for the free allowances in its budget, but said the move is intended to stop "carbon leakage" — when companies just uproot in search of another location with fewer environmental regulations. The list of companies getting free allowances will be reviewed in 2020.The government also released detailed draft legislation that lays out the rules surrounding how the allowances will be auctioned, traded and enforced. Officials said the program will be enforced by government spot audits and also requiring companies to provide their own emissions reporting. Companies that break the rules risk monetary or allowance-based penalties. Opposition attacks plan-Toronto Ontario Budget Andrea Horwath-NDP Leader Andrea Horwath said those in northern Ontario will be hit hardest by costs driven up by the new cap and trade plan.The NDP and PC leaders both criticized the new cap and trade plan, though their attacks had nothing to do with the environment."Life is getting harder for folks," Horwath said, accusing the government of forgetting about those who pay high heating costs in northern Ontario and will be stung by the new costs.Horwath also said the province's "big polluters" get a free pass in the new program. PC Leader Patrick Brown called the cap and trade a "cash grab" and said he fears the Liberals are taking advantage of people's desires to stop climate change to raise money for pet projects.The way the system is set up, Brown said, there's nothing to stop the Liberals from spending the billions generated from cap and trade on whatever they like. What will the province get in return? The government's cap and trade program is at the centre of a future it envisions featuring electric vehicles, energy-efficient geothermal homes and a more robust public transit system.In total, the government said 82 per cent of Ontario's GHG emissions will be covered by cap and trade, with the remaining 18 per cent coming from individuals and small emitters.And, the budget says, once the government rolls out its new plan, 75 per cent of Canadians will live in a province with some form of carbon pricing. The government also said Ontarians will benefit from cap and trade by getting support with purchasing electric vehicles or modernizing homes.The budget also features a section aiming to bust "myths" surrounding cap and trade, including the idea that carbon pricing will kill jobs, or won't be effective."Broad consensus that carbon pricing is the best tool for reducing greenhouse gas emissions," the budget says.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Strong demand should start to cut into an oil glut around the end of this year, even as new Iranian supplies enter the market and doubts persist over whether major oil producers will reduce output, BP's chief economist said on Wednesday.But a stock overhang could still linger for at least a year.Oil prices dropped to their lowest since 2003 last month under the pressure of a supply surplus of around 1 million barrels per day (bpd).Saudi Oil Minister Ali Al-Naimi has ruled out imminent OPEC production cuts, although he said on Tuesday he was confident more nations would join a pact to freeze output.Fellow OPEC member, Iran, meanwhile, is eager to increase output after sanctions were lifted.BP's Spencer Dale said he could not predict what OPEC and other major producers would do and said promised freezes had come from nations unlikely to increase output anyway."What is clear, is the oil market is behaving like any market. Prices are falling quite sharply and, as a response, demand is growing quite fast. Last year, global oil demand grew by twice its 10-year average," he said.Demand growth, although probably not as strong as last year, would continue, he said, while new supplies, especially from U.S. tight oil - around half a million bpd below its peak - contract."Even allowing for Iranian supply, I see flat to falling global supplies this year and so I think you'll see a big swing in the market. By the end of this year, the market moves closer into balance," he said."There will still be a highly significant stock overhang," he added, which could take a year or more to disappear.BP also for the long term to 2035 predicts rising oil demand as the number of vehicles outside the developed world triples.It has previously underestimated renewable sources, such as wind and solar, while over-estimating nuclear and biofuels. More than 150 male and female Reform rabbis on Thursday celebrated the cabinet’s approval of an egalitarian plaza at the Western Wall with a prayer service at the future site of non-Orthodox worship, even as the rabbinate came out against the planned area.The Thursday morning prayers marked last month’s landmark government decision to allocate an expanded segment of the wall — located in an archaeological park known as Robinson’s Arch — for mixed-gender worship.The rabbinate, breaking its silence Thursday, declared the new prayer site at Robinson’s Arch unlawful, according to the ultra-Orthodox Kikar HaShabat website. It was reportedly basing its opposition on a legal opinion which maintained that only the religious affairs minister has the authority to designate a new “holy site” in Israel.The Chief Rabbinate Council convened a meeting Thursday, which concluded with a demand that the government freeze its plans at Robinson’s Arch until it consults with the rabbinate on the subject, according to the report.But Gilad Kariv, the leader of the Reform Movement in Israel, said the rabbinate had already approved the decision to designate the mixed-gender area.The Chief Rabbinate Council “is acting like it’s a branch of United Torah Judaism or Shas, rather than a state body,” he said in a statement, referring to the two ultra-Orthodox political parties in the government.“The rabbinical establishment was involved in the discussions about the Western Wall compromise and gave its consent,” he maintained, while accusing it of “shameful cowardice.”“The wave of incitement in the past weeks against Reform Judaism is not linked to the Western Wall or to mikvehs [ritual baths], but rather to the understanding and panic of Haredi wheeler-dealers over the fact that most of the Israeli public is sick of the Orthodox monopoly,” he said.In comments on Wednesday, Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush, also of the United Torah Judaism, reportedly termed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Monday meeting with the leaders of the Reform and Conservative movements to “a stab in the heart of true Judaism.” Fellow party member Yisrael Eichler on Tuesday likened Reform Jews to the mentally ill.The landmark agreement on prayer at the Western Wall was approved by the government cabinet In January, and officially sets aside an egalitarian prayer space at the Orthodox-controlled holy site for the first time in Israel’s history. Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat on Thursday slammed comments by British Prime Minister David Cameron in which he criticized conditions in East Jerusalem, questioning Cameron’s knowledge of the region and pointing a finger at the UK for its policies during the pre-state British Mandate.On Wednesday, Cameron told Britain’s Parliament that Israeli construction in East Jerusalem was “genuinely shocking,” even as he insisted that he was a “great friend of Israel” and defined Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.“I am well known for being a strong friend of Israel, but I have to say the first time I visited Jerusalem and had a proper tour around that wonderful city and saw what had happened with the effective encirclement of East Jerusalem, occupied East Jerusalem, it is genuinely shocking,” Cameron said during a weekly question-and-answer session.Barkat said Cameron’s statements were “incorrect, based on a lack of awareness of facts and the reality on the ground,” in a statement released by the Jerusalem municipality.The mayor rhetorically asked what it was that specifically shocked Cameron, highlighting investment in schools, infrastructure and community centers in East Jerusalem.Cameron’s comments were likely referring to a 2007 trip he took before being elected prime minister and before Barkat was elected mayor. IDF troops arrested dozens of Palestinian suspects during raids across the West Bank overnight Wednesday in one of the largest hauls since the beginning of the current wave of terror attacks, the army said Thursday morning.A total of 33 Palestinians were arrested, including seven men described as Hamas members. Twenty-two of those detained are suspected of direct involvement in recent attacks on civilians and security forces, the IDF said.The suspects were transferred to the Shin Bet security agency for interrogation.Twenty-nine Israelis and three non-Israelis have been killed in a wave of Palestinian terrorism and violence since October. About 170 Palestinians have also been killed, some two-thirds of them while attacking Israelis, and the rest during clashes with troops, according to the Israeli army.While the IDF carries out operations most nights, arresting handfuls of suspects in each operation, Wednesday’s raids represent a significant increase in the number of people detained.During the raids, several Palestinian youths clashed with soldiers in the West Bank town of Ramallah, according to Palestinian news site Wafa. RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — It was nearly 2 a.m. when Amjad Sallaj heard a loud explosion outside his home. In a matter of seconds, Israeli troops burst into the building, ransacking apartments in a door-to-door search for wanted Palestinian fugitives.When the raid was over, the apartments had been trashed, furniture destroyed and Sallaj’s 30-year-old son, Ahmad, had been taken into custody.Palestinian Authority officials say that such raids, carried out in PA-controlled territory, have become a daily occurrence since a wave of violence erupted five months ago — undermining the public’s trust in their own security forces and jeopardizing one of the last areas of official contact between Israel and the Palestinians.“The Israeli forces enter our territory every night, since the beginning of the current uprising, and this has a significant impact on the morale of our forces and on the image of these forces in the eyes of the public,” said Adnan Dameri, the spokesman for the Palestinian security forces.“In every joint meeting, we tell the Israeli side that the daily incursions embarrass the Palestinian forces,” he added.Security cooperation between the Israeli military and Palestinian security forces began following interim peace accords reached in the 1990s that granted the Palestinians limited autonomy in 40 percent of the West Bank.Although those agreements gave Israel overall security control in the West Bank, it yielded significant day-to-day responsibilities to Palestinian forces in a joint effort to control Islamic militants and to prevent friction between Israeli troops and Palestinian civilians.The system broke down during the second Palestinian uprising in the early 2000s, but resumed once the fighting subsided and has continued to function for the better part of a decade.Today, at a time when peace efforts are at a standstill and tensions are high, security is one of the last areas of coordination, playing a critical role in preventing near-daily violence from spinning out of control.The security coordination has also benefited PA President Mahmoud Abbas. Under procedures in place, Israeli forces inform the Palestinians they are going in, ordering them to retreat to their barracks until they complete their operation.“It’s very depressing to leave your position and our missions just because the occupation forces have an operation that you know is against your people,” said Saleh Naser, a police officer in Ramallah.Sallaj said that during Tuesday’s night-time raid on his home, which is located in Askar refugee camp near the northern West Bank city of Nablus, troops detonated the main entrance to the building, and then pried open the doors of the four apartment units where his sons and their families live.He described seeing hundreds of soldiers in the camp, including dozens throughout his building.Sallaj, 55, said the families were each confined to one room of their apartment as soldiers moved through, leaving behind a trail of destruction. When troops found photos of children holding plastic guns, he said they interrogated two of his grandsons, a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old, about the pictures. Sallaj said he does not know why his son was arrested. He said it is the first time he has been sent to jail.“This is the occupation,” he said. “We expect nothing but the destroying of our life and our properties.”In a statement, the military said it confiscated guns, ammunition and grenades during the raid on a number of locations in Nablus and arrested nine Palestinians. WASHINGTON — Florida’s Senate overwhelmingly passed a measure Wednesday aimed to deter corporate entities from participating in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.The bill passed by a vote of 112-2, and now moves to the office of Florida Governor Rick Scott, who must decide whether to sign it into law.In the last year, several other states have taken up similar legislation, such as Illinois and South Carolina. Illinois has targeted BDS activities through investment — prohibiting state investment in entities that boycott Israel or Israeli companies. South Carolina has done the same through procurement — banning the state from contracting with entities that engage in Israel boycotts.The Florida bill is the strongest of any anti-BDS measure passed through a state legislature, according to Peggy Shapiro, the Midwest director of Israel advocacy group StandWithUs, who lobbied for the bill, because it targets BDS activities through banning both state investment and procurement in such entities.While the bill received near unanimous support in the Florida Senate, critics cited it as an attempt to suppress or limit speech rights for those critical of Israel.Shapiro countered that it would merely allow the state of Florida to exercise its discretion in choosing what kinds of companies it spends taxpayer money on.“If one group of people write a textbook and another group writes a textbook, they are both able to express their speech and write the book,” she told The Times of Israel. “But the state of Florida can buy the book from whoever it wants.”

WASHINGTON — US President Barack Obama signed a bill on Wednesday that punishes the international boycott campaign against Israel, but said he will not apply a segment that extends protections to West Bank settlements.The Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, aimed at removing unfair barriers to competitive US trade, passed the US House of Representatives in December and the Senate on February 11.A lengthy section of the law on promoting US-Israel trade requires non-cooperation with entities that participate in the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, and reporting on such entities. The section includes within its definition of an Israel boycott actions that would target businesses in “Israeli-controlled territories.”“I have directed my administration to strongly oppose boycotts, divestment campaigns, and sanctions targeting the State of Israel,” Obama said in a signing statement. “As long as I am president, we will continue to do so. Certain provisions of this act, by conflating Israel and ‘Israeli-controlled territories,’ are contrary to longstanding bipartisan United States policy, including with regard to the treatment of settlements.”Obama further said in the statement that “consistent with longstanding constitutional practice” the administration would negotiate with other countries under the law “in a manner that does not interfere with my constitutional authority to conduct diplomacy,” language used in signing statements to signal that a president will not apply a part of a law that does not comport with US foreign policy.The BDS portion of the law, backed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, was authored by Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill. and Rep. Juan Vargas, D-Calif.There are multiple bills under consideration in Congress and in over 20 state legislatures targeting BDS. Many of the state bills mandate the divestment of state funds, including pensions, from entities that boycott Israel and a number of those bills extend protection to the settlements. Illinois and South Carolina have passed into law in recent months anti-BDS bills that include protection for settlements.The Florida legislature this week passed a law that includes settlement protections, and it awaits signing by Governor Rick Scott. A similar bill was introduced this week in the Ohio legislature.When the White House announced two weeks ago that Obama would sign the bill, AIPAC hailed the move: “The provision puts the US firmly on record opposing BDS and supporting enhanced commercial ties between the United States and Israel,” it said. “This measure builds on the important work of Congress … passing into law firm anti-BDS negotiating objectives for American trade negotiators.”Within 180 days after Wednesday’s signing, the US administration will be required to report to the Congress on global BDS activities, including the participation of foreign companies in political boycotts of the Jewish State. The law also includes a number of legal protections for American companies that operate in Israel.While the Obama administration has long expressed adamant opposition to BDS tactics targeting Israel, there are several references in the legislation to “Israeli-controlled territories” or “any territory controlled by Israel” as being included in the terms of the bill.The conflation of Israel proper with contested territory runs counter to longstanding US policy that Israeli settlement activity is an obstacle to achieving a two-state solution, an administration official told The Times of Israel earlier this month.
