He said he then had an epiphany and became the calm person he is today."But nine friends, classmates, and neighbors who grew up with Carson told CNN they have no memory of the anger or violence the candidate has described," CNN's Scott Glover and Maeve Reston reported. "No one challenged the stories directly. Some of those interviewed expressed skepticism, but noted that they could not know what had happened behind closed doors."But Carson insisted that it would be incredibly difficult for anyone to find the people in his book because he changed their names and the incidents happened roughly 50 years ago."I'm not proud of the fact that I had these rage episodes, but I am proud of the fact that I was able to get over them," Carson said Friday. "And my message has been that you can escape from that ... If you choose to believe that I'm incapable of these acts, I guess that's kind of a compliment to me."He also accused CNN of trying to distract the public from the important issues."What the media does is they try and get you distracted by all this stuff so you don't talk about the things that are important because we have so many important things," he said. OTTAWA (Reuters) - Newly elected Canadian leader Justin Trudeau will arrive in office with a promise to improve Canada's battered environmental image, vowing a new strategy for global climate negotiations in Paris this December.Although he has yet to say how he will achieve his goals, the Liberal Party leader faces a tough task meeting expectations.Trudeau has less than 40 days before the Paris conference begins, hardly time for yet-unnamed energy and environment ministers to get up to speed, let alone to forge a common position with Canada's provinces on carbon emissions cuts.Yet the Liberal leader has pledged a break from the policies of defeated Prime Minister Stephen Harper, a politician from Alberta's oil patch who pulled Canada out of the Kyoto treaty and fought to shield the energy industry from global commitments to cut carbon emissions.Despite his pro-environmental stance, share prices of Canadian energy companies were not rattled by Trudeau's election.Energy shares in the Toronto stock market advanced by 1.26 percent on Tuesday, outperforming the overall index, which rose by 0.61 percent.During the campaign, Trudeau attacked Harper relentlessly for turning Canada into a "pariah" on climate change issues. PARIS, France (AFP) — An analysis of black boxes from the Russian plane that crashed in Egypt on Saturday point to a “violent end” in the form of bomb attack, sources close to the probe said Friday, as Moscow halted flights to the country.The flight data and voice recorders showed “everything was normal” until both failed at 24 minutes after takeoff, pointing to “a very sudden explosive decompression,” one source said.The data “strongly favors” the theory a bomb on board had brought down the plane, he added.Another source said the plane had gone down suddenly and violently.Meanwhile, British airlines were scrambling to evacuate passengers in Sharm el-Sheikh after cancelling flights to the Red Sea resort from which the doomed Airbus had taken off Saturday.One of the black boxes recovered from the crash site showed that the plane suffered “a violent, sudden” end, a source close to the case in Paris told AFP.The flight data recorder showed that “everything was normal during the flight, absolutely normal, and suddenly there was nothing.” Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered flights halted on the recommendation of his security chief, the Kremlin said, although Moscow had previously downplayed reports that a bomb caused the crash.At an emergency meeting, the head of Russia’s FSB security service, Alexander Bortnikov, said it would be prudent to halt flights for now.“Until we have determined the true reasons for what happened, I consider it expedient to stop flights by Russian aviation to Egypt,” he said.With international concerns mounting, European airlines prepared to bring home thousands of tourists from the Red Sea resort, which has been a jewel in Egypt’s tourism crown.A first flight landed at London’s Gatwick airport Friday afternoon, after a lengthy delay to its departure.
