Beijing (AFP) - Typhoon Soudelor killed nine people in eastern China after parts of the country were hit by the heaviest rains in a century, state media reported Sunday.Another three people are missing after the storm caused landslides in rural parts of eastern Zhejiang province, the official Xinhua news agency reported, citing local disaster relief officials.Wencheng county saw downpours of 645 millimetres in 24 hours -- the heaviest rains in 100 years -- after the typhoon made landfall on Saturday night, it said.The storm has caused at least 248 million yuan ($40 million) in economic damage and cut power to more than two million homes, Xinhua said. The death toll was on the verge of topping 100.In some places, only the roofs of homes could be seen. International aid is on the way following appeals by the government, but so far, most of the help has come from volunteers ferrying noodles, rice and clean water door-to-door in small boats.Heavy monsoon rains that began in late June — compounded more recently by Cyclone Komen — have triggered some of Myanmar's worst flash floods and landslides in recent memory. So, so dumb, but that’s our donor class for you.Many national Republican officials are increasingly resigned to Mr. Trump’s looming presence. At a meeting of the Republican Governors Association this week in Aspen, Colo., donors and operatives mused about how to prevent him from hijacking the debate.One idea that came up was to urge three leading candidates — Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor; Mr. Walker; and Senator Marco Rubio of Florida — to band together and state that they would not participate in any debate in which Mr. Trump was present, using his refusal to rule out a third-party bid as a pretext for taking such a hard line. The thinking, according to a Republican involved in the conversations, was that the lesser-funded prospects who have been eclipsed by Mr. Trump would follow suit, and the TV networks airing the debates would be forced to bar Mr. Trump in order to have a full complement of candidates.But none of the campaigns have shown any appetite for such solidarity, for reasons ranging fromtheir strategic interests and not wanting to make Mr. Trump a martyr, to fear of making an enemy of Fox News, the preferred cable network of conservatives and the host of the first debate.You already know the main reason this is stupid. Let me add another: Bush, Walker, and Rubio can each argue, somewhat credibly, that having Trump in the race is good for them. For Jeb, he’s a big-name foil, a guy whom Bush can use to underscore his own comparative moderation and electability. There may be nothing worse to many “somewhat conservative” voters than nominating a Bush … unless the alternative is nominating Donald Trump. For Walker, what could be sweeter than having Trump around throwing roundhouses at Bush for being a RINO and a loser? He’s making the same bet that Ted Cruz is, that Trumpmania will cool once Republican voters start to get serious about picking a candidate. And Walker’s well positioned to pick up Trump voters (and “anyone but Jeb” voters) thanks to his newfound hawkishness about the border. As long as Trump doesn’t hang around the race too long, denying Walker the anti-Bush votes he needs in the early states, he’s pure upside. As for Rubio, he’s pitching himself to righties as the party’s best chance to cut into Hillary’s domination of the Latino vote. The more Trump grumbles about Mexican rapists, the more desperate some undecideds will become to heal that rift with Hispanics before the general election. Rubio, thanks to his Gang of Eight pedigree and his Cuban heritage, may be the closest thing the GOP has to a “magic bullet.” And the more damage Trumpzilla does over the next six to nine months, the more compelling that case for Rubio becomes. So why would any of these guys want to drive Trump off the stage? Especially when he’s already hinting about going third-party if he feels insulted?Actually, there’s a third reason why the boycott idea is dumb: Why would anyone assume that the also-rans in the race would follow the lead of Bush, Walker, and Rubio by boycotting? They’d love to have those guys off the stage. Instead of being relegated to the JV debate at 5 p.m. on August 6th, they’d end up as part of the main show with a gigantic audience thanks to Trump. They could stand there and say, not unpersuasively, that any man who’s afraid to debate Donald Trump has no business negotiating for the United States against Vladimir Putin. If I were an advisor for Chris Christie or Bobby Jindal, I’d be salivating at the thought that Team Jeb might conceivably be so stupid as to cede them the spotlight that way. The only candidate who’s polling badly for whom this might present a dilemma is Rick Perry. Given what he said yesterday, he’d have to at least entertain the idea that Trump’s presence in a debate delegitimizes it to the point where it’s not worth participating in it. But even Perry, I think, would seize the opportunity and show up. After all, he’s the guy who’s trying to make his mark by confronting “Trumpism” directly. Why would he pass on a chance to impress Republican voters by confronting Trump himself face to face? Via the Daily Caller, here’s the Glenn Beck Show yesterday declaring itself a Trump-free zone. I’ll leave you with two quotations to chew on. The first comes from RCP: “[Rick Perry] said he has confidence that the Fox News debate’s moderators—Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly and Bret Baier—will be able to rein in the loquacious business magnate and keep him from stealing the show.” And the second comes from … Bret Baier: “I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say that I have woken up in cold sweats wondering how I’m going to deal with a Donald Trump who’s not listening,”

Blood coming out of her wherever” as she questioned him during Thursday’s Republican presidential debate. Here’s precisely what Trump said:Erickson took issue with Trump’s comments — particularly the “wherever” part — in a post to his blog overnight. A taste:“[W]hile Mr. Trump resonates with a lot of people with his bluntness, including me to a degree, there are just real lines of decency a person running for President should not cross.“His comment was inappropriate. It is unfortunate to have to disinvite him. But I just don’t want someone on stage who gets a hostile question from a lady and his first inclination is to imply it was hormonal. CLEVELAND-It was billed as The Donald Trump Show, and the Republican front-runner delivered. He mugged. He pouted. He projected outrage without being troubled by specificity or fact. If he ends up being the nominee, it will be because the party falls in line, not in love.The political cognoscenti seem to think that neurosurgeon Ben Carson had a terrible evening. I wouldn’t be surprised if his poll numbers went up. Just a hunch, but he came across as genuine and charming.As for the “kiddie table” debate held earlier Thursday, the conventional wisdom is right: Businesswoman Carly Fiorina was the star and should at least vault into the top 10. I think she’s wrong about most everything, but she’s sharp as a tack.The GOP race is full of excitement. There’s one problem: On most issues, from women’s health to national security, the party is far out of step with the general electorate. Fertilization: Sperm Penetrates Egg

It takes about 24 hours for a sperm cell to fertilize an egg. When the sperm penetrates the egg, the surface of the egg changes so that no other sperm can enter. At the moment of fertilization, the baby's genetic makeup is complete, including whether it's a boy or girl.

The Cells Start to Divide

The fertilized egg starts growing fast, dividing into many cells. It leaves the fallopian tube and enters the uterus three to four days after fertilization. In rare cases, the fertilized egg does not leave the fallopian tube. This is called a tubal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy and is a danger to the mother.

After it gets to the uterus, the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium. This process is called implantation. The cells keep dividing.

Within about a week of conception, a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) can be found in the mother's blood. It is produced by cells that will become the placenta. The hormone will show up on a blood or urine pregnancy test at the doctor's office. (CNN)Alabama became the third state in a week to pull state funding for Planned Parenthood on Thursday. Gov. Robert Bentley, a medical doctor, tweeted that life from "conception to birth and beyond" is important to him."I respect human life, and I do not want Alabama to be associated with an organization that does not," the two-term Republican tweeted.The governor's office released a statement saying that the Alabama Medicaid Agency will terminate its provider contract with Planned Parenthood with a 15-day notice. If Planned Parenthood opposes the decision, the nonprofit has 60 days to apply for a fair hearing."The deplorable practices at Planned Parenthood have been exposed to Americans. I've terminated any association with the organization in AL," Bentley said in a follow-up tweet.Bentley's announcement comes after Louisiana and New Hampshire ended relationships with the controversial women's health organization this week in the wake of several sting videos that an anti-abortion group claims show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue.Staci Fox, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeast, said Bentley's announcement will deprive thousands of low-income ad uninsured men and women of needed services."The courts have been clear that the federal law prohibits states from excluding abortion providers from Medicaid," she said. "Planned Parenthood's doors remain open and we will continue to provide high-quality, compassionate care to the women and men who rely on us."The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals pulled Medicaid funding from the organization."Planned Parenthood does not represent the values of the people of Louisiana and shows a fundamental disrespect for human life. A massive gate unearthed in Israel may have marked the entrance to a biblical city that, at its heyday, was the biggest metropolis in the region.The town, called Gath, was occupied until the ninth century B.C. In biblical accounts, the Philistines — the mortal enemies of the Israelites — ruled the city. The Old Testament also describes Gath as the home of Goliath, the giant warrior whom the Israelite King David felled with a slingshot.The new findings reveal just how impressive the ancient Philistine city once was, said lead archaeologist of the current excavation, Aren Maeir, of Bar-Ilan University in Israel."We knew that Philistine Gath in the 10th to ninth century [B.C.] was a large city, perhaps the largest in the land at that time," Maeir told Live Science in an email. "These monumental fortifications stress how large and mighty this city was." [The Holy Land: 7 Amazing Archaeological Finds]Ancient site-The gates were uncovered in Tell es-Safi, which was occupied almost continuously for nearly 5,000 years, until the Arab village at the site was left in 1948, Maeir said. Though archaeologists have been excavating at the site since 1899, it wasn't until the past few decades that they realized how massive the Iron Age remains really were.Both the impressive settlement size and mentions in biblical accounts suggest to scholars that the site is the historic city of Gath, which was ruled by the Philistines, who lived next to the Jewish kingdoms of Judah and Israel. Most scholars think that Gath was besieged and laid to waste by Hazael, King of Aram Damascus, in 830 B.C., Maeir said.The team was digging trenches to look for the ancient city's fortifications when they found the top surface of a monumental gate and fortifications. Because the remaining walls are so massive, it may take several seasons to fully uncover them, Maeir said. So far, only the top surface of the structures are visible, but based on the size and shape of the stones used to make them, the city walls must have been quite large. The mighty fortifications would have formed a rather imposing boundary that prevented the Kingdom of Judah from expanding westward, he added.The team also found ironworks and a Philistine temple near the monumental gate, with some pottery and other finds typically associated with Philistine culture. Though the pottery represents a distinctive Philistine style, it also shows elements of Israelite technique, suggesting the cultures did influence each other in ways unrelated to war."This mirrors the intense and multifaceted connections that existed between the Philistines and their neighbors," Maeir said. Though the Philistines were often seen as the absolute enemies of the Israelites and Judahites, he added, in reality, "it was much more complex."

LETS REMEMBER THE JERUSALEM COVENANT-ISRAEL-JERUSALEM TOGETHER FOREVER UNDER JEWISH KING JESUS' RULE

As presented to the Israeli government in 1992, upon the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem.

We have gathered together in Zion, national leaders and heads of our communities everywhere, to enter into a covenant with Jerusalem, as was done by the leaders of our nation and all the people of Israel upon Israel's return to its Land from the Babylonian exile; and the people and their leaders will dwell in Jerusalem, the Holy City.

Once again, 'our feet stand within your gates, O Jerusalem - Jerusalem built as a city joined together' which 'unites the people of Israel to one another', and 'links heavenly Jerusalem with earthly Jerusalem.'

We have returned to the place that the Lord vowed to bestow upon the descendants of Abraham, Father of our Nation; to the City of David, King of Israel; where Solomon, son of David, built a Holy Temple; a Capital City which became the Mother of all Israel; a metropolis for justice and righteousness and for the wisdom and insights of the ancient world; where a Second Temple was erected in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah. In this city the prophets of the Lord prophesied; in the City the Sages taught Torah; in this City the Sanhedrin convened in session in its stone chamber. 'For there were the seats of Justice, the Throne of the House of David', 'for out of Zion shall go forth Torah, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.'

Today, as of old, we hold fast to the truth of the words of the Prophets of Israel, that all the inhabitants of the world shall enter within the gates of Jerusalem: 'And it shall come to pass at the end of days, the mountain of the House of the Lord will be well established at the peak of the mountains and will tower above the hills, and all the nation shall stream towards it.' Each and every nation will live in it by its own faith: 'For all the nation will go forward, each with its own Divine Name; we shall go in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.' And in this spirit the Knesset of the State of Israel has enacted a law: The places holy to the peoples of all religions shall be protected from any desecration and from any restriction of free access to them.

Jerusalem - peace and tranquility shall reign in the city: 'Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be tranquil. May there be peace within your walls, and tranquility within your palaces.' Out of Jerusalem, a message of peace went forth and shall yet go forth again to all the inhabitants of the earth: 'And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war anymore.' Our sages, peace be upon them, said. In the future, The Holy One, the Blessed, will comfort Jerusalem only with peace..

From this place, we once again take this vow: 'If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, may my right hand lose its strength; may my tongue cleave to my palate if I do not remember you, if I do not raise up Jerusalem at the very height of my rejoicing.'

And with all these understandings, we enter into this Covenant and write: 'We shall bind you to us forever; we shall bind you to us with faithfulness, with righteousness and justice, with steadfast love and compassion.' We love you, O Jerusalem, with eternal love, with unbounded love, under siege and when liberated from the yoke of oppressors. We have been martyred for you; we have yearned for you, we have clung to you. Our faithfulness to you we shall bequeath to our children after us. Forevermore our home shall be within you.

The historic Jerusalem Covenant was written to acknowledge the miraculous return of the Jewish people to Jerusalem in June 1967.

The original Jerusalem Covenant is displayed alongside Israel's Declaration of Independence in the Knesset and for the past twenty years has been signed by hundreds of visiting dignitaries.
