Indonesia will release the final report into last year's AirAsia QZ8501 plane crash by August, the transport minister told AFP this week as reported by Daily Mail UK."(The NTSC) promised (the final report) will be released by August," transport minister Ignasius Jonan revealed in his reported interview, referring to the National Transportation Safety Committee that serves as the investigating body of the disaster."I have instructed the NTSC that the report must be as independent as possible," he said.ICAO has stated that the investigation aims to keep these accidents from happening in the future and not to assign blame or liability.The minister was hesistant to disclose further details about the investigation while the final report is yet for release. Either the NTSC has shed information on what caused the crash of Air Asia or what happened in between times before the ill-fated event.Although, the committee did previously confirm that French co-pilot Remi Plesel was flying the plane, not former fighter jet pilot Captain Iriyanto.In its official report, it's been discovered that the plane climbed from 32,000 to above 37,000 feet within 30 seconds, possibly in an attempt to evade a storm threat and hastily returned to 32,000 feet before eventually diving towards the sea.To date, there are more than 100 bodies or body parts have been retrieved during the search and rescue operation.Meanwhile, QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes has issued a statement and addressed the squad as to how he copes with the trauma of AirAsia crash QZ8501 where 162 passengers and crew were killed. "It's been the hardest part of my life," Fernandes said of the crash. "It's been indescribable. But as I spoke to the [AirAsia] staff and as I spoke to the players - it has given me an inner strength."Fernandes has also extended his time to help with the aftermath of the Air Asia QZ8501 crash and admits it was tough speaking to families of those involved.He added: "That was really hard. What do you say to someone who has lost five people on their plane? "I don't know. Human nature, whatever, gives you the strength to find a way."Burying my own staff was a nightmare. Taking a 22-year-old girl on a plane and burying her in her home town. But you find the strength."I apologised. It's not our fault."But what else can you say? They were on my aircraft. And they're not with them."And we just sat and talked and made them feel very comfortable that whatever happens, we would find them and we wouldn't give up."And I think that was very reassuring. Three men from Brooklyn, New York, were arrested and accused of plotting to wage jihad for ISIS, authorities said Wednesday. Terrorism at home and abroad

Over the past few years Canada has seen a considerable evolution in the domestic and international terrorist threat as well as a number of significant events. There were high-profile incidents of Canadians travelling abroad to engage in terrorist activities, as well as the notable arrests for an alleged terrorist plot to be carried out on Canadian soil. In the United States, terror attacks at the April 2013 Boston Marathon demonstrated the ongoing threat to the West from homegrown violent extremism.Internationally, developments such as the death of Osama bin Laden in May 2011, Anwar Awlaki in September 2011, and other key leaders dealt significant blows to the Al-Qaeda (AQ) leadership. Despite these events, the threat from international terrorism remains significant. Terrorist movements in North and West Africa, Somalia, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere feature near daily violent attacks which kill numerous innocent civilians each year and destabilize regions, posing a threat to Canadian interests abroad. Other events, such as the July 2011 attacks in Norway carried out by the extremist Anders Breivik that killed 77 people, serve as a reminder that terrorism takes many forms and is not limited to unstable parts of the world.In Canada, terrorism emanating from Al-Qaeda-inspired extremism remains a serious threat. Despite recent successful operations targeting Al-Qaeda Core, the Service continues to see support for AQ causes in Canada. Of particular significance is the above-mentioned investigation into an alleged Al-Qaeda-linked plot to attack a train in Southern Ontario, which led to the arrest of two individuals in April 2013.It is important to note that although AQ-inspired extremism might at this moment in time represent the most visible terrorist threat to Canadian interests, historically terrorism in Canada has been committed in the name of a variety of ideologies.

There are at least three main ways in which terrorism threatens the safety and security of Canadians:
1-First, terrorists continue to plot direct attacks against Canada and its allies at home and abroad with the aim of causing death and disruption;
2-Second, terrorists seek to conduct activities on Canadian territory to support terrorism globally (such as fundraising to support attacks and militant groups);
3-Third, terrorist supporters seek to radicalize individuals within Canada, some of whom may travel overseas for terrorist training or to engage in terrorism abroad. These individuals endanger their lives and pose a risk to the countries to which they have travelled. Further, should they return to Canada, it is uncertain to what ends these individuals may put their training. There is concern it may include attempting to radicalize others, or train individuals in terrorist methods.CSIS works with its law enforcement partners and other government agencies in order to preserve the safety, security and way of life for all who live within our borders. Further, the Service is committed to supporting the Government of Canada’s national counter-terrorism strategy, Building Resilience Against Terrorism, released in February 2012 and expanded upon in the 2013 Public Report on the Terrorist Threat to Canada.

Girl meets boy, and life seems so sweet. Now that he is in her life, no one else exists. All day he is the number one feature of her daydreams; the star of the show. Sure... If her Prince Charming happens to be her husband.

And if not?

She risks losing her reputation, her self-respect, her modesty, her Iman... and worst of all, her akhirah is in grave danger.

One of the most evil crisis' to come upon the Ummah is that of dating and inappropriate contact between the genders. Whether we are aware of it or not, these relationships are rampant, hidden behind deleted messages and secret hook-ups. Evil surrounds these relationships- from loss of reputation and destruction of modesty, to outright zina and abortion.

What if it's too late you ask?

It's never too late to turn to Allah. This article is not about the fiqh of gender interaction (references for that at the end of the article). This is just some advice from one sister to another, to every girl who has non-Mahram "friends" with whom she freely chats to; every girl who sincerely wants to marry for the sake of Allah, but has found herself falling in to the haram in her quest; to all my sisters out there who make excuses as to why they can't keep it halal. Let be real with ourselves, inshaAllah.

Yes, you might love each other, but isn't Allah more deserving of your love? Of course you say, knowing full well that Allah deserves your love above everybody and everything else. ... are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as rivals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah. But those who believe, love Allah more (than anything else)…. (Surah Al Baqarah 2:165)

Are you using His blessings (sight, speech, movement, intelligence, beauty) to disobey Him? If you love, deeply, truly - Allah - than love everybody else in ways that please Him. Get married if possible, since that is the cure for those in love. Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas : Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "You have seen nothing like marriage for increasing the love of two people.' Ibn Majah transmitted it.Tip: If marriage is not an option, have sabr and don't transgress the limits set by Allah for fleeting feelings. Insha Allah your time will come, and the fire of regret will burn deep in your heart if you fell in to haram while you were seeking the Halal.

We only talk on the phone/Facebook/text... Isn't that ok?

Short answer, no.

You might have pure intentions, hoping to get to know each other for the sake of marriage. The scary fact is, Shaytaan will seize the opportunity if he sees you approaching a potentially sinful situation. Slowly but surely, certain things seem more and more acceptable to you, and you could soon find yourself in a compromising situation that you never would have thought possible.Like quicksand, haram relationships are easy to fall in to and hard to get out of (mostly because of the emotional toll). If only we heeded the advice of the One created us, we'd find our lives so much easier. And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. (Al Isra 17:32) -Tip: Don't even come close to zina- can the advice be any clearer? What starts off “innocently” can lead to zina. Trust that Allah is looking out for your best interest. Begin what you intend to do the right way, so that what follows is right, inshaAllah. If what begins right, ends right, we can hope for the “right” abode in the akhirah - Jannah.

But we're getting married... eventually!

In a nutshell - until the imam pronounces you as man and wife - he is to you as every other man is. Would you consider is ok to call Carlos from accounting and have a chat about your favorite movies? Is it ok to meet Imam Bilal at the movies? Late night phone calls and meet ups are off-limits, unless your wali is in on the situation like butter on bread.Sisters, don't be fooled in to thinking everything is sweet just because he manned up and proposed (or promised to propose). By Allah, there are girls who give up their dignity, with promises of marriage, and I'm talking about really giving it up. They lost their 'izza for nothing more than promises and feeling lovey dovey - only to find themselves dumped, or in a miserable marriage to someone who doesn't fear Allah, because they were too love-blind to see the red flags. A real man isn't one who can get the girls... a real man is one who fears Allah, especially when emotions are high.

Think of your (future) husband as an advocate of your deen - i.e. the closest person to you that will encourage you toward good and steer you away from sin. If this guy fails to encourage piety from the outset, what is it that you are seeking from him? If the guy you want to marry pressures you to communicate with him outside of your wali, he's forcing you in to a corner. On one hand, you want to protect your izza and your Iman. On the other hand, is him. Does that sound like a good deal to you? Your wali is there for a reason (actually, quite a few reasons). He is supposed to deal with your suitors, and act as a chaperone, to avoid any haram contact. Tip: Utilise your wali to safeguard your Iman, hopefully attaining barakah in your marriage by doing things in accordance to Islam. Don't taint your future marriage by planting the seeds of haram, because eventually you will have to reap them.

I can't find anyone else but him...

As for those who fear they can’t find anybody else, may Allah send you a righteous brother soon, Ameen. It's tempting to cling on to the first decent guy that shows interest, but don't settle for anyone who makes you compromise your Deen.Tip: Be upfront with all suitors. Let them know your wali will be present at all times during the pre-marital meeting. Make sure your wali understands his role properly, which isn't to keep a brick wall between you and your intended, but to act as your guardian. There are no excuses for being in seclusion (khalwa) with a non-Mahram for the sake of getting to know them. Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: Rasulullah (SAW) said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman the Devil makes a third." (Al-Tirmidhi 3118)

But everyone else is doing it...

I find it appropriate to repeat the words of my mother, and just about everybody else's mother, "If everybody jumps off a bridge, will you jump too?". Cliche, sure, but they had a point. Just because other people are engaging in haram, it doesn't make it ok for you to follow. You'll only add to your bad deeds, and theirs too. What if the same people you choose to follow in this life, turn out to be the ones you have no choice but to follow in the next? And what of these same people are thrown into fire - what will your situation be? Tip: Keep good company, stay amongst people who understand the seriousness of disobeying Allah and His messenger sal Allahu alayhi wa salaam. Reflect on the famous Hadith of the perfume and the blacksmith: Narrated Abu Musa: Allah's Apostle said, "The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows would either burn your clothes or your house, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof." ...(Ṣahih al-Bukhārī)

ISIS recruited Canadian woman to join fight in Syria-CBC – feb 25,15-yahoonews

The family of a young Canadian woman who travelled to Syria after being radicalized say losing her was the most "shocking thing in the world" and that they wish CSIS had done more to prevent the 23-year-old’s departure.The woman, whom CBC News is calling Aisha to protect her identity, made the journey to Syria to join up with ISIS last summer, after taking an online course to study the Qur’an taught by a woman based in Edmonton, says her older sister Rabia (whose name has also been changed)."We all went to work, came home, all her stuff was gone. She had packed all her winter clothes, took her computer and left,” Rabia says."It was the most devastating, most scary, most shocking thing in the world."Over the past several months, Rabia has been speaking to CBC News about her family's ordeal. Some details, such as names and the family’s location, are being withheld for security reasons.The Canadian Security Intelligence Service declined to comment on the specific case, but said in an emailed statement that terrorism "including radicalization of Canadians and terrorist travel remains the most prominent threat to Canadian interests and our national security."Rabia allegesAisha was recruited under the guise of an online class to study the Qur'an taught by a woman in Edmonton. But instead, Rabia says, Aisha learned how to get to the ISIS-controlled city of Raqqa in Syria.CBC News has confirmed the identity of the woman in Edmonton and that she was asked to leave a mosque after she attempted to recruit people. She has not been charged in connection with this case.

Never coming home

When Aisha called home from abroad, she told her family she was never coming home — that Syria was where she was going to die.The family had a moderate Muslim upbringing, Rabia says. Looking back, she says there were signs Aisha was changing. Aisha withdrew from her family and social circle, started wearing a niqab and retreated to her bedroom and computer, Rabia says.Aisha also dropped out of college to study Islam full-time with the woman in Edmonton. The family believes it was that woman who paid for her plane ticket abroad, Rabia says.CBC has not been able to independently confirm the details of Aisha’s radicalization or how she funded her travel, but it's known that she went to Edmonton, then Toronto. She flew to Barcelona and on to Turkey, where she crossed the border into Syria.CSIS won’t comment on specific investigations, but Rabia says the agency had been tracking Aisha for nearly two years.

Staff with the intelligence agency approached the family before Aisha left in the summer, but Rabia says they provided almost no information, aside from pointing out that Aisha’s Twitter account featured the ISIS flag and followed some prominent ISIS members."They told us she had been interacting with people they thought were dangerous and were influencing her in a negative way, but they didn't give us enough information and it was all very vague.""If they had shown me the emails between my sister and this girl. There's no way I would have let her leave if I knew now that she was going to the craziest war zone in the world."The intelligence agency can currently only collect and analyze information and doesn’t have the "mandate to intervene to prevent terror plots from developing," CSIS said in a statement.While CSIS currently can’t intervene in such a way, it can work with law enforcement partners like the RCMP to detain people believed to be involved in terrorist activities.Canada has in some major cities integrated national security enforcement teams made up of agencies like the RCMP, local and municipal police, the Canada Border Services Agency and CSIS, which are meant to increase co-operation and information-sharing on national security threats.The federal government has proposed legislation that would bolster CSIS’s powers. They're just slipping through the cracks.”She says she’s worried her sister can never come home for fear of imprisonment. Aisha's Canadian passport has been revoked.“She didn’t do anything for ISIS, she is just there…. cooking for people, helping people in hospitals. She's not out there with a gun in the front lines, because women aren't allowed to do that in Islam and ISIS.”For now, the family worries about what might happen abroad, but Rabia says the family also understands that there’s likely no way out for Aisha after her decision to leave Canada for the fight in Syria.

The Big Story these days isn’t snow in Boston. It isn’t Russian-Ukraine fighting. It isn’t Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s supposed ‘disrespect’ of US President Barack Obama.The Big Story today is how the current US Administration lies.Yes, we all know that politicians lie. Some lie all the time. It’s part of the fun of being in politics. It’s part of the fun watching politicians on TV.But the lies politicians tell are usually not entirely lies. They’re more like half-lies—or, more accurately, half-truths.This Administration doesn’t do that. It doesn’t play with half-truths. It plays with lies.At least, that’s the way it’s beginning to look.Since the beginning of the Jewish month of Adar (Friday, February 20, 2015), the words, ‘lie’ and ‘this Administrat ion’ have begun to appear online at an alarming rate.Adar is the month Jews celebrate the holiday of Purim. Purim reminds us that powerful anti-Semites have a nasty habit: they hate Jews--and they’re often ready to act on that hate.Purim is also about Persia—Iran. It’s about a high-ranking Persian (Haman) who hatches a plan to kill Jews.According to recent news reports, history repeats itself. Today, high-ranking Iranians tell the world it’s ready to destroy the Jewish state (“Iran: Time to Destroy Israel”, Israel Today, November 9, 2014).Iran (Persia), like Haman in the Purim story, has a plan (“Iran supreme leader touts 9-point plan to destroy Israel”, Times of Israel, November 10, 2014). These same leaders want an atomic bomb. Many believe Iran wants that weapon to help with its evil plan for Israel.This year, Adar brings us a final attempt to stop Iran from getting that weapon. But the attempt doesn’t seem to be going anywhere: Iran has still not provided to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) “any explanations” that could enable the Agency to clarify exactly what are Iran’s nuclear intentions (“Iran delays UN nuclear inquiry as deadline approaches”, Al Jazeera, February 19, 2015).The deadline looms. But there’s no progress (“Kerry, Zarif to meet for nuclear talks as deadline looms”, The Daily Mail, February 22, 2015).Iran could be a big story this Adar. But the one story that could dwarf Iran could be the ongoing saga of lies by the White House.For example, at last week’s White House summit on “countering violent extremism’, President Obama apparently told a lie. He is reported to have declared, “Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding” (Kimberlee Kaye, “Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding,” Legal Insurrection, February 21, 2015). Ms Kaye suggests that is patently false. Others (below) join her in that assessment.Mark Steyn has written about another Obama lie: “IS (The Islamic State) is not true Islam” (“O Beautiful, For Specious Guys...”, Steyn on America, February 20, 2015). Steyn argues that such a declaration is absolutely false (ibid).According to The New York Post, even the Administration’s use of the phrase ‘violent extremism’ feels like a lie (Amir Taheri, “Obama’s elementary errors on Islam”, February 20, 2015). As the Post puts it, “’Violent extremism’ is misleading, to say the least….The generic term obscures the fact that we face a specific form of terrorism rooted, nurtured and waged in the name of Islam” (ibid).Actually, The Post reported a better lie than ‘violent extremism’. It reported that Obama has said that ISIL lies when it says its followers are holy warriors who defend Islam (ibid). As The Post said, “In fact, these terrorists now call their outfit the Islamic State, or IS, under a caliph” (ibid); and if that’s how the IS describes itself, no outside authority has the legitimacy “to challenge their claim” (ibid).On the first day of Rosh Chodesh Adar, Roger Kimball wrote, “First of all, Islam has not ‘been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding,’ as Obama said yesterday in his speech about combatting terrorism. Indeed, like most of his public pronouncements, the speech was a Lillian Hellman performance as described by Mary McCarthy: every word including “and” and “but” was a lie” (“None Dare Call It ‘Islam’”, Front Page Mag, February 19, 2015).Then there’s the matter of the US withholding information about the Iran talks from Israel. Last week—before Adar began—Israel news reported that, as a ‘punishment’ of Netanyahu (for accepting an invite to talk to Congress)—the US had stopped sharing Iran talks with Israel (“Gil Ronen, “Report: US 'Punishing' Israel by Not Updating it on Iran Talks”, Arutz Sheva). Immediately, the US denied the report (Adam Kredo, “U.S., Israeli Officials Deny U.S. Has Cut Israel Out of Iran Talks”, Washington Free Beacon, February 15, 2015).Now, in Adar, we learn that the US denial was a lie (Ari Lieberman “Obama Withholds Iran Negotiation Info from Israel”, Front Page Mag, February 20, 2015). Okay, to be fair here, Lieberman didn’t use the word, ‘lie’. He wrote that the US denial was ‘duplicitous’. But isn’t ‘duplicitous’ just a nice way of saying, ‘liar’? Adar is a month where we see how evil anti-Semites can be (recall the ‘wicked’ Haman of the Purim story). Will Adar be a month where an American Administration turns out to be the ideological descendant of the evil Haman?

CALGARY - A Calgary photographer who captured a fireball streaking across the night sky says he thought he'd witnessed a plane crashing or a meteor breaking up.It turns out the large orange streak Neil Zeller saw was a Chinese rocket booster that broke apart as it re-entered the atmosphere, said Maj. Martin O'Donnell, a spokesman for U.S. Strategic Command.Zeller was photographing the northern lights west of Calgary around 11 p.m. on Monday when he caught a flash out of the corner of his eye."I thought it might have been a plane crashing, just because it was in so many pieces and it was such a big ball," he said. "It didn’t appear to be falling. It just kept going across the sky. So then I thought maybe a large meteor was breaking up, but it was just way too slow."He swung his camera around and was able to get four, long-exposure shots.Zeller said it was a "one in a million" experience and a bit of a fluke that he was able to get the photos. He credits the brightness of the aurora borealis."A lot of times a bright object in a dark sky will overexpose. You’ll just get a beam of light," he said. "For me to get the individual streaks of light, the individual parts that were burning up in the sky, it was basically a factor of how bright the auroras were."More than 150 people reported seeing the streak, said Mike Hankey with the American Meteor Society. The reports came from nine western states as well as Alberta and British Columbia.It lingered in the sky for more than a minute, showing slow movement that is a sure sign of a man-made object re-entering from space, Hankey said. Naturally occurring meteors last just a few seconds.Utah-based NASA ambassador Patrick Wiggins said such events mostly go unnoticed."There are literally thousands of satellites orbiting the earth and these things fall out of the sky all of the time," he said.
