AirAsia Indonesia wishes to update on the latest developments on the search and evacuation process of QZ 8501, lead by The National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) Republic of Indonesia.
The SAR team were able to continue the search operations this morning despite of the less than ideal weather conditions with some light rain and clouds. Sea divers were deployed to continue with the underwater search following the finding of QZ 8501’s tail yesterday.BASARNAS said that the operation began at 7 am this morning and the sea divers have been observing the second focus area where the tail part was found yesterday, in order to find where the black box is located. However, due to swift underwater currents and limited visibility, the divers were only able to find more debris which is presumed to be the interior part of the aircraft and baggage compartment.The tail part will be the main focus of the SAR operation and BASARNAS said that once the black box is found, the SAR team plans to lift the tail piece out from the water with the permission from Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).Meanwhile, BASARNAS today confirmed they recovered one more remain today from the search area. Light rain is expected but the current and waves may still be favourable for divers to continue with operations. Divers had entered the water at about 6am local time at the area near the tail.Indonesian armed forces chief General Moeldoko said the recovery operation for the aircraft tail is substantial as the black box is located there. Transmission was detected from the black box's signals near the tail on Wednesday, but it was later lost.

Indonesia today confirmed that the SAR team retrieved a visual confirmation of the tail part of QZ 8501’s aircraft. The visual confirmation was made following underwater documentation of the aircraft’s tail and small wreckage, which showed the plane’s registration number (PK-AXC), captured by the SAR team’s sea divers.The tail part was found in the additional focus search area (approx. 30 kms from the primary focus area). The SAR operation is still underway as the weather is reported to be clear with good underwater visibility for the divers to continue observation.Sunu Widyatmoko, Chief Executive Officer AirAsia Indonesia commented, “We would like to extend our appreciation to all authorities and personnel that has been involved in the SAR operation. vatican city-In his second batch of cardinal “creations” Pope Francis showed he is following along the path he set out on a year ago, giving the red biretta to a number of bishops from the world’s peripheries, bishops who are heads of dioceses or from countries that have never had a cardinal before. A quick look at the latest figures relating to each country and subdivided into seven main geographical areas, published by Italian Catholic blog Il Sismografo, shows that just under half of the cardinals in the electoral college of cardinals are Europeans. The electoral college of cardinals is the section of the College of Cardinals that is made up of prelates under the age of 80 who are therefore eligible to vote in a Conclave. This is according to what was established in the Motu Proprio Ingravescentem Aetatem issued by Paul VI in 1970.In the Consistory that will be held on February 14th, the total number of cardinals will be 228, 125 of these will be electors and 103 will be over-80s. 34 of the cardinal electors were nominated by John Paul II, 60 by Benedict XVI and 31 by Francis. The figures relating to each continent show that Europe has 57 cardinal electors, the Americas have 36 (subdivided as such: North America 18; Central America 6; South America 12), Africa has 15, Asia has 14 and Oceania has 3.The cardinal electors represent 56 different countries. Only two countries are represented by cardinal electors whose numbers are composed of two digits: Italy and the United States. Italy has as many as 26 cardinals with the right to vote in a Conclave, 10 of them are residential bishops and 16 are members of the Curia: this accounts for 21% of the electoral college. Today the Pope resumed his series of catecheses on the family speaking about mothers. He did so ahead of the Ordinary Synod next October. At the end of the Audience the Pope thanked the Circus, which put on a brief performance for him and stressed that today’s humanity “greatly needs beauty”.“Every human person owes their life to a mother,” the Pope said. But “for all our symbolic glorification of mothers – all the poetry and poetic things that are said about mothers – their important contribution to the life of society, their daily sacrifices and their aspirations are not always properly appreciated,” he added. In fact, “the availability of mothers to sacrifice themselves for their children is often used to 'save' on social spending". Even in the Christian community mothers do not always receive their dues or are not appreciated enough." “Often mothers are not listened to. We should better understand their daily struggle to be efficient at work as well as attentive and loving in the family. We should better understand their aspirations in order to express the best and truest results of their emancipation. A mother with children always has problems; she is always working. I remember at home, we were five. If one did one thing, another thought about doing something else. Our poor mother went from one to the other; yet she was happy. She gave us so much." "Mothers,” the Pope stressed, “are the strongest antidote to the spread of selfish individualism. [. . .] Individual means 'what cannot be split. Somewhat like war, Islamic terrorism is founded upon assorted fantasies of redemption through sacrifice. Today, the universal Jihadist rallying cry, "We love death," animates much of what is presented publicly as "liberation" or "self-determination,"[1] and is common to a broad variety of terrorist groups. This variegated collection includes both Sunni and Shia elements.The rallying cry, always shrill, and always shouted in chorus, exhibits no core differences between ISIS in Iraq or Syria, and Hamas/Fatah in Gaza.Oddly, this critical observation has been lost upon the administration in Washington. For some as yet undisclosed reason, the president decided to bomb the former, but (effectively) support the latter.Despite readily discoverable commonalities of Islamist terror, in the particular evolution of Palestinian terror, there exists an almost unique historical narrative. Who are these heroic "martyrs?" Plainly, they are the 'courageous' Palestinians who drive cars into groups of women and children waiting at Israel's train or bus stations, who attack elderly Jews praying in the synagogues, and who randomly stab assorted civilians walking quietly on the streets on Jerusalem.Seeing requires distance. The deepest roots of Jihadist terror originate from those cultures that embrace certain religious views of "sacrifice." In these mostly Arab cultures, the key purpose of sacrifice extends far beyond any presumed expectations of civic necessity (expectations, for example, reported by Plutarch, in his accounts of ancient Sparta). [2] More precisely, this rationale goes to the very heart of individual human fear, that is, to the palpable and ubiquitous dread of one's own death.The promised reward for those who would sacrifice everything for jihad is salvation. In essence, these martyrs choose to "die" for their cause, not in order to expire, but rather, not to become "really" dead. This right would not be summarily withdrawn from "Palestine," even if it should make public its long-term program for aggression[10] against Israel. This is the case, moreover, whatever its leaders might have conceded in any pre-independence negotiations.[11]-President Obama's "Road Map" coaxes Israel along a determinably lethal excursion to unending war and terror. By ignoring the core roots of Palestinian terrorism, this twisting cartography can offer Israel only a contrived "Two-State Solution." Should Prime Minister Netanyahu agree to follow Washington's simplistic views, he will have misunderstood the deepest, and simultaneously most ineradicable, origins of Palestinian terrorism.For Hamas, Fatah, and other Jihadist fighters, the terror-based struggle against Israel has never been about land compromises or halting "settlements." Always, it has been about God and about immortality. In this regard, we should be reminded that there is no greater political power on earth than power over death.

Today, we can see, plainly, that there are other available objects of veneration that can relieve the apparently timeless human horror of death, most obviously certain Jihadist religious persuasions, and their various organizational incarnations. In an emergent "Palestine," these organizations are principal Jihadist terror groups, especially Hamas and Fatah.Just as the state recurrently requires blood sacrifice as a tangible means to personal redemption, including even literal salvation, Jihadists require the same. What is the ruling on drawing in Islam?.

Drawing is of two types:

One is drawing pictures of animate beings. It says in the Sunnah that this is forbidden. It is not permitted to draw anything that depicts animate beings, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, according to the saheeh hadeeth: “Every image maker will be in the Fire.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The most severely punished of people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers, those who tried to imitate the creation of Allaah.” And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The makers of these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and they will be told, ‘Give life to that which you have created.The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) cursed those who consume riba (interest, usury) and those who pay it, and he cursed the image-makers. This indicates that making images is forbidden. The scholars interpreted that as referring to images of animate beings such as animals, people and birds.With regard to drawing inanimate objects – which is the second type of drawing – there is no sin in that, such as drawing mountains, trees, planes, cars and the like. There is nothing wrong with that, according to the scholars. With regard to forbidden kinds of pictures, an exception is made in cases of necessity, such as drawing pictures of criminals so that they will be known and caught, or pictures for identity cards which are essential and which cannot be obtained otherwise, and other cases of necessity. If the ruler decides that producing images of criminals is necessary, because of the seriousness of their crimes and to protect the Muslims from their evil when they are known, or for other reasons, there is nothing wrong with that. At least 12 were killed and 10 wounded in Paris on Wednesday in an apparent terror attack on the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.Armed gunmen wearing black hoods stormed the offices of the publication in a suburb of the city before firing automatic weapons in a scene that police described as "carnage," local media reported. They were heard shouting "Allahu Akbar," an Islamic phrase that means "God is great."Charlie Hebdo is known for its caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad and other controversial sketches, and has frequently drawn condemnation from Muslims.President Francois Hollande, appearing at the scene immediately following the incident, said the shooting was "undoubtedly a terrorist attack" and said several other terror attacks had been thwarted in recent weeks.Xavier Castaing, head of communications for the Paris police prefecture, confirmed the deaths. The attack may be the deadliest to strike on French soil since a wave of train bombings in 1995.Luc Poignant, an official of the SBP police union, said the attackers escaped in two vehicles. Eyewitness images taken at the time of the attack show two men apparently abandoning a car. Hollande announced that France's terror alert level would now be raised to its highest level and that the assailants — thought to be armed with Kalashnikovs and possibly even a rocket-launcher — would be brought to justice. Security in Paris was immediately stepped up in public places, retail spots, transportation hubs and offices.At least one police officer was shot and five people were said to be in a critical condition, Hollande said.It's not the first attack on the publication. Three years ago, Charlie Hebdo's offices were the subject of an arson attack in response to its publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed on its cover.Just a few hours before Wednesday's attack took place, Charlie Hebdo published a new cartoon on Twitter that appears to show Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. SANAA (Reuters) - A car bomb exploded outside a police college in Yemen's capital Sanaa on Wednesday, killing about 30 people and wounding more than 50, police sources said, underscoring the country's deteriorating security and a persistent al Qaeda threat.Sectarian conflict after a 2011 popular uprising that led to a change of government and splits in the army has worsened since September when the Shi'ite Muslim Houthi militia seized Sanaa.Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), one of the Sunni militant group's most active wings, had staged increasing numbers of attacks across Yemen before the Houthi advance and has carried out more bombings and shootings since.There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Wednesday's bombing. Al Qaeda has in the past claimed they were behind similar attacks.The victims from the latest blast included students at the college and people waiting in line to enroll with the police, the police sources said, as well as passers by.The explosion was heard across the city and a large plume of smoke was visible near the college in a heavily congested part of the city near the central bank and the defense ministry."The situation is catastrophic. We arrived to find bodies piled on top of each other," a paramedic at the scene told Reuters as ambulances took casualties away."We found the top part of one person yelling, while his bottom half was completely severed."A policeman told Reuters that another car had been passing as the bomb went off and was set on fire along with everyone inside.The Interior Ministry said it was halting registration at the police college, which takes place every year, for a week.Western and Gulf Arab countries fear that further instability could weaken the country's government, giving AQAP more space to plot attacks outside Yemen's borders. Yemen shares a long border with major oil exporter Saudi Arabia. Yemen's army has launched several concerted campaigns to dislodge al Qaeda with the help of U.S. drone strikes, but the militants have proved capable of entrenching themselves in largely lawless parts of the Arabian Peninsula country where it has sympathy from some Sunni tribes.On Jan. 1 a suicide bomber killed at least 26 people at a cultural center in the central Yemeni city of Ibb in an attack that appeared to target the Houthi Shi'ite Muslim militia that seized the capital in September and advanced into other areas.Most attacks in the past four years have targeted Yemen's security infrastructure. ISTANBUL (Reuters) - The Turkish far-left group DHKP-C has claimed responsibility for a suicide bomb attack at a police station in Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet district on Tuesday that killed one officer and wounded another.A female suicide bomber entered the police station saying in English that she had lost her purse before blowing herself up inside the three-storey building, across the square from the Aya Sofya museum and the Blue Mosque, which are among the main sites for millions of visitors to Istanbul each year.In a statement posted on "The People's Cry" website hours after the attack, the group said the bombing was against the ruling AK Party over the killing of 15-year-old Berkin Elvan, who died in March last year after nine months in a coma from a head wound sustained during an anti-government protest."It is the same state which shot Berkin Elvan and which protects the thief ministers," the statement said, in an apparent reference to a Monday ruling of a parliamentary commission not to commit four ex-ministers to a higher court over graft allegations.Turkey's Dec.17 graft probe swirled around the inner circle of then-prime minister Tayyip Erdogan and led to the resignation of the ministers of economy, interior and urbanization.The commission, dominated by members of the ruling AK Party, voted on Monday not to send the four ex-ministers for trial, a decision that the opposition decried as a cover-up of one of Turkey's biggest ever corruption scandals.
