WE ARE CHRISTIANS WE WILL BE TREATED THE SAME.

2 TIMOTHY 3:1-5 (WHY WE ARE PERSECUTED BY THE WORLD)
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous (DANGEROUS) times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

MATTHEW 5:10-12
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

JOHN 15:18-20
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me (JESUS) before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

1 PETER 4:16-19
16  Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18  And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

REVELATION 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain(BEHEADED) for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

JOHN 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.(ISLAM MURDERS IN THE NAME OF MOON GOD ALLAH OF ISLAM)

Why Did the U.S. Government Recently Purchase 30,000 Guillotines?

Guillotine 2
File Photo

- The use of guillotines for “governmental purposes” was lobbied for and passed in the U.S. Congress

- The information we received is that 15,000 are currently stored  in Georgia and 15,000 in Montana

- Are the beheadings by muslims today meant to desensitize us against U.S. Government beheadings in the future?

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  - Revelations 20:4

HB 1274 authorizes the state of Georgia to execute citizens by guillotine:

Georgia House of Representatives – 1995/1996 Sessions HB 1274 – Death penalty; guillotine provisions Code Sections – 17-10-38/ 17-10-44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Article 2 of Chapter 10 of Title 17 of the Official
1- 2 Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the death penalty
1- 3 generally, so as to provide a statement of legislative
1- 4 policy; to provide for death by guillotine; to provide for
1- 5 applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
1- 6 purposes.
SECTION 1.
1- 8 The General Assembly finds that while prisoners condemned to
1- 9 death may wish to donate one or more of their organs for
1-10 transplant, any such desire is thwarted by the fact that
1-11 electrocution makes all such organs unsuitable for
1-12 transplant. The intent of the General Assembly in enacting
1-13 this legislation is to provide for a method of execution
1-14 which is compatible with the donation of organs by a
1-15 condemned prisoner.

One question to consider:

If Georgia was planning to utilize guillotines as a method of execution, how could this be carried out without purchasing guillotines?

by, Ted Gunderson (Retired FBI Agent)

Think about this; Why does the US government need 30,000 Guillotines and over 600 Million rounds of hollow point bullets?

There are over 800 prison camps in the United States. All fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards. But they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general’s signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached. Ask yourself if you really want to be on THE list.

The Rex 84 Program was established on the reasoning that if a “mass exodus” of illegal aliens crossed the Mexican/US border, they would be quickly rounded up and detained in detention centers by FEMA. Rex 84 allowed many military bases to be closed down and to be turned into prisons. Operation Cable Splicer and Garden Plot are the two sub programs which will be implemented once the Rex 84 program is initiated for its proper purpose. Garden Plot is the program to control the population. Cable Splicer is the program for an orderly takeover of the state and local governments by the federal government. FEMA is the executive arm of the coming police state and thus will head up all operations. The Presidential Executive Orders already listed on the Federal Register also are part of the legal framework for this operation.

FEMA TrainsThe camps all have railroad facilities as well as roads leading to and from the detention facilities. Many also have an airport nearby. The majority of the camps can house a population of 20,000 prisoners. Currently, the largest of these facilities is just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. The Alaskan facility is a massive mental health facility and can hold approximately 2 million people. Now let’s review the justification for any actions taken. Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to seize all means of transportation, including personal cars, trucks or vehicles of any kind and total control over all highways, seaports, and waterways.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10999 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation. General Frank Salzedo, chief of FEMA’s Civil Security Division stated in a 1983 conference that he saw FEMA’s role as a “new frontier in the protection of individual and governmental leaders from assassination, and of civil and military installations from sabotage and/or attack, as well as prevention of dissident groups from gaining access to U.S. opinion, or a global audience in times of crisis.” FEMA’s powers were consolidated by President Carter to incorporate the National Security Act of 1947 allows for the strategic relocation of industries, services, government and other essential economic activities, and to rationalize the requirements for manpower, resources and production facilities. 1950 Defense Production Act gives the President sweeping powers over all aspects of the economy. Act of August 29, 1916 authorizes the Secretary of the Army, in time of war, to take possession of any transportation system for transporting troops, material, or any other purpose related to the emergency. International Emergency Economic Powers Act enables the President to seize the property of a foreign country or national. These powers were transferred to FEMA in a sweeping consolidation in 1979.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FfkZ1yri26s

Bennett Defends his Record: This is a Good Government

Naftali Bennett stands up to critics on Judea and Samaria building, Torah studies. ‘We’ve done what nobody else could do.’

Minister of Economics and Religious Affairs Naftali Bennett, head of the Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) party has been the center of controversy in recent weeks, with some praising his success in passing new policies while others criticize him over planned cuts to the yeshiva budget and his party’s seeming inaction in the face of a construction freeze in Judea and Samaria.Speaking to Arutz Sheva, Bennett spoke of his feelings regarding the government’s first 100 days in power.“We’ve passed the reform to the cement industry that people tried to push forward for 50 years, but they were afraid to break the monopoly. We’ve opened the skies, we’ve opened religious services… This is a good government overall,” he declared.“It’s true that there is less building [in Judea and Samaria (Shomron)]. There is construction in Efrat, in Ariel and in other regions, but on the other hand there are no new building tenders.“We will not put up with this situation for long. We are working on it…. Some work is done quietly. Overall, I’m very happy with our achievements in a short time,” he said.Bennett brought the focus back to the economy. “What bothers me each day is that there are people here living off of 6,600 shekels a month and less. It’s unacceptable, it’s anti-Zionist. How can it be that you have a normal couple, with both working, and they’re suffocating?” he asked.“An after-school activity and a computer for a child is not a luxury,” he added.Returning to the subject of Judea and Samaria, he said, “When I was the director-general of the Yesha Council I only had Judea and Samaria to worry about. I don’t have that privilege anymore. We can’t think only about that.”“On the other hand,” he added, “we’re the ones who must think about it, because nobody else will.”Regarding cuts to the yeshiva budget, Bennett said that the budget cuts would not be nearly as drastic as was initially thought. “The cuts will be like those elsewhere, two to three percent of the budget, no more,” he said.

Outrage over ‘Pro-Israel’ Zombie Apocalypse Film

Many critics of Israel are disappointed by ‘World War Z’ as it shows the IDF fighting off zombie hordes.

A Hollywood blockbuster depicting a worldwide zombie apocalypse has become yet more fuel for the fire in the debate on Israel. According to many PA supporters, the film’s depiction of Israel as one of the few countries on earth not immediately overwhelmed by zombies indicates a clear pro-Israel bias. The movie stars actor Brad Pitt as a United Nations employee, Gerry Lane, who joins in the fight against a major zombie pandemic that has killed most of the world’s population.Pro-PA viewers were particularly upset by a scene showing zombie hordes being slowed by a massive wall around Israel. They pointed out that the scene appears to justify the Judea and Samaria security barrier."In World War Z, Israel's apartheid wall apparently helps keep out a massive horde of zombies... not cool," one upset Twitter user said.Other viewers, however, interpreted the depiction of the barrier as ironic commentary. Israel’s real Judea and Samaria separation barrier was built to prevent Palestinian Authority resident suicide bombers from reaching Israeli cities, but in the film both Israeli Jews and PA Muslims take shelter behind the wall. They pointed out that the film does not necessarily portray the anti-zombie barrier as helpful to Israel's defense. It should be noted that Israel’s current security barrier is in most places a fence rather than a wall, and is not always effective in keeping out illegal entrants. The portions that are made of a concrete wall are significantly shorter and weaker than the barrier depicted in the movie, and would probably not prove a significant obstacle to World War Z’s superfast zombies.

Amnesty International Calls for Campaign Against Gaza Executions

Amnesty calls on the public to mail Gaza’s Hamas rulers and protest the hanging of two local men.

Amnesty International on Thursday called on the public to mail Gaza’s Hamas terrorist rulers in order to protest the hanging of two local men and to appeal against other executions, AFP reported.Hamas hanged the two men accused of collaborating with Israel on Saturday.Last Thursday, a military court in Gaza sentenced a Palestinian Authority Arab man found guilty of the same charge to death. It was the fifth such sentence handed down by the coastal enclave's authorities since the beginning of the year. The London-based rights organization called on people to "write immediately in Arabic or your own language condemning the executions... as applications of the ultimate form of cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment," in a statement published Thursday and quoted by AFP.It asked people to urge Gaza security and justice officials "to ensure that death sentences against... any others sentenced to death are commuted or overturned."In March, Hamas said it had a list of collaborators but offered a one-month amnesty for informers to give themselves up in return for leniency. The terror group announced in April that it had begun arresting suspected collaborators with Israel following the amnesty period and indicated that the campaign had been “a success.” Approximately two weeks after the amnesty campaign was announced, Hamas sentenced a man to death by strangulation after he was convicted of providing information to “hostile elements” in Israel. The Hamas government executed three men in April 2012 after they were accused of "collaborating" with Israel.
Under Palestinian Authority law, collaboration with Israel, murder and drug trafficking are all punishable by death. All execution orders must be approved by the PA chairman before they can be carried out, but Hamas no longer recognizes the legitimacy of Mahmoud Abbas, whose four-year term ended in 2009.

Vatican prelate arrested as part of IOR inquiry

Nunzio Serrano, who served in the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See, has been arrested after he apparently helped friends bring 20 million Euros into Italy. Vatican spokesman Lombardi says the Vatican is prepared to cooperate with the judiciary

ANDREA TORNIELLI vatican city
Less than forty eight hours after it was announced that Francis had ordered the setting up of a commission to inquire into the activities of the IOR, the Vatican bank has come under the media spotlight again, following the arrest of Italian monsignor Nunzio Scarano, who had been working for APSA (the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See). Two others were arrested as well: Italian policeman Giovanni Maria Zito, who was dismissed from the Italian secret services three months ago and broker Giovanni Carenzio. They are accused of corruption, slander and fraud. The arrest was made as part of the inquiry that is being carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Rome, into the activities of the IOR. Public Prosecutors Nello Rossi and Stefano Fava have been leading the three year investigation into the violation of anti-money laundering regulations by the IOR’s director general Paolo Cipriani and deputy director Massimo Tulli.Mgr. Scarano, a former banker who became a priest 27 years ago, apparently agreed to pay 400 thousand Euros to have 20 million Euros in cash brought into Italy on a private jet. According to Scarano’s lawyer, the money was in fact transported on a State-authorised flight and the prelate only acted as a go-between. The money belonged to one of his friend’s families. But the monsignor was also placed under investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of his home city, Salerno, last 13 June, on charges of money-laundering. The investigation is being led by Public Prosecutor Elena Guarino and looking into the illegal transaction of money via cheques worth 10 thousand Euros each. Although accounting records show these as donations to help settle debts accumulated by a property in Salerno, it is suspected the transactions were part of a money laundering operation. In 2009, Mgr. Scarano withdrew 560 thousand Euros in cash from his IOR bank account, claiming it went towards paying off a mortgage.Although this latest inquiry is into transferrals to and from the prelate’s Vatican bank account, it is not yet clear what role, if any, the IOR played in Rome’s inquiry into the 20 million Euros brought into Italy by plane. After the news broke about the inquiry being carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Salerno, Mgr. Scarano was suspended from his Vatican position. The director of the Holy See Press Office, Fr. Federico Lombardi said: “As is known, Mgr. Scarano was suspended from APSA over a month ago.” The Holy See has not yet received any request for information from the Italian authorities in charge of the case but offers its full cooperation,” the spokesman added. As prosecutors try to work out who is responsible for what, what is clear is that the intrigues, fulfilment of personal interests and the possibility of using the IOR illegally, are not just a thing of the past but have continued into the present. So Pope Francis’ drastic decision is understandable, as is the IOR’s failure to reassure him - with statements to the press - about the good work it is doing.

OZONE DEPLETION JUDGEMENT ON THE EARTH DUE TO SIN

ISAIAH 30:26-27
26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,(7X OR 7-DEGREES HOTTER) as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people,(ISRAEL) and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

MATTHEW 24:21-22,29
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake (ISRAELS SAKE) those days shall be shortened (Daylight hours shortened)
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

REVELATION 16:7-9
7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Weekend heat wave to bake western US

Weekend heat wave to bake western US as temps in southwestern cities approach 120

PHOENIX (AP) -- Tigers at the Phoenix Zoo are getting frozen fish snacks. Temporary cooling stations are popping up to welcome the homeless and elderly. And airlines are monitoring the soaring temperatures to make sure it's safe to fly as the western U.S. falls into the grips of a dangerous heat wave. A strong high-pressure system settling over the region Friday and through the weekend will bring extreme temperatures even to the typically blazing Southwest. Notoriously hot Death Valley in California is forecast to reach 129 degrees, not far off the world-record high of 134 logged there exactly one century ago.
The National Weather Service is calling for 118 in Phoenix, and 117 in Las Vegas on Sunday — a mark reached only twice in Sin City. Temperatures are expected to soar even as far north as Reno, Nev., across Utah and into parts of Wyoming and Idaho, where forecasters are calling for triple-digit heat in the Boise area through the weekend. Cities in Washington state better known for cool, rainy weather should break the 90s early next week, while northern Utah — marketed as having "the greatest snow on Earth" — is expected to hit triple digits. In Albuquerque, N.M., the mercury hit 105 on Thursday afternoon, the hottest it has been in the state's most populous city in 19 years. "This is the hottest time of the year but the temperatures that we'll be looking at for Friday through Sunday, they'll be toward the top. We'll be at or above record levels in the Phoenix area and throughout a lot of the southwestern United States," said National Weather Service meteorologist Mark O'Malley. "It's going to be baking hot across much of the entire West." Jennifer Smith, a spokeswoman for the National Interagency Fire Center based in Idaho, said crews are especially worried about wildfires igniting in the Four Corners region where the borders of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona intersect. Some of the strongest parts of the high pressure system are expected to be parked over the area through the weekend, where forecasters are calling for lightning but little to no precipitation, Smith said. The hottest cities are taking precautions to protect vulnerable residents. Police are pleading with drivers not to leave children or pets in vehicles, and temporary cooling stations are being put up to shelter homeless people and the elderly on fixed incomes who hesitate to use air conditioning.Officials said extra personnel have been added to the U.S. Border Patrol's Search, Trauma, and Rescue unit as people illegally crossing the border from Mexico into Arizona could succumb to exhaustion and dehydration. At least seven people have been found dead in the last week in Arizona after falling victim to the desert's brutal heat.Even airlines are watching the mercury for any signs that temperatures could deter operations. In June 1990, when Phoenix hit 122 degrees, several airlines, including America West, which later merged with US Airways, were forced to cease flights for several hours because the planes didn't have the data needed to know how they would fly in temperatures above 120 degrees. US Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher said the airline's fleet of Boeings can now fly up to 126 degrees, and up to 127 degrees for the Airbus fleet.
But the company's smaller express planes flying out of the Phoenix area may be delayed if the temperature tops 118 because as the air heats up, it becomes less dense and changes liftoff conditions. "The hotter is it, your performance is degraded," Lehmacher said. "We're monitoring this very closely to see what the temperatures do."Officials at Salt River Project, the Phoenix area's largest electricity provider, also are closely monitoring usage in order to redirect energy in case of a potential overload.Company spokeswoman Scott Harelson said he doesn't expect usage to get anywhere near SRP's record 6,663 megawatts consumed in August 2011."While it's hot, people tend to leave town and some businesses aren't open, so that has a tendency to mitigate demand and is why we typically don't set records on weekends," Harelson said.
Meanwhile, over at the Phoenix Zoo, animals from elephants to warthogs will be doused with hoses and sprayed with sprinklers and misters throughout the weekend. The tigers will get frozen fish snacks while the lions can lounge on concrete slabs cooled by internal water-filled pipes, said zoo spokeswoman Linda Hardwick."And they'll all have plenty of shade," she said. "The keepers will all just be very active looking for any behavior changes, anything that would tip them off that an animal is just getting too hot."In Las Vegas, two Elvis impersonators and a performer costumed as the iconic "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign said they still planned to keep up their routine of working the tourist corridor in the broad daylight and turning in for the evenings, heat notwithstanding. "We'd much rather fight with the sun than fight with the drunk people," Elvis impersonator Cristian Morales said. ___Associated Press writers Robert Jablon in Los Angeles, Julie Jacobson and Michelle Rindels in Las Vegas, Michelle Price in Salt Lake City, and Susan Montoya Bryan in Albuquerque contributed to this report.

Meth floods US border crossing

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Children walk across the U.S.-Mexico border with crystal methamphetamine strapped to their backs or concealed between notebook pages. Motorists disguise liquid meth in tequila bottles, windshield washer containers and gas tanks. The smuggling of the drug at land border crossings has jumped in recent years but especially at San Diego's San Ysidro port of entry, which accounted for more than 40 percent of seizures in fiscal year 2012. That's more than three times the second-highest — five miles east — and more than five times the third-highest, in Nogales, Ariz. The spike reflects a shift in production to Mexico after a U.S. crackdown on domestic labs and the Sinaloa cartel's new hold on the prized Tijuana-San Diego smuggling corridor.A turf war that gripped Tijuana a few years ago with beheadings and daytime shootouts ended with the cartel coming out on top. The drugs, meanwhile, continue flowing through San Ysidro, the Western hemisphere's busiest land border crossing with an average of 40,000 cars and 25,000 pedestrians entering daily."This is the gem for traffickers," said Gary Hill, assistant special agent in charge of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in San Diego. "It's the greatest place for these guys to cross because there are so many opportunities."

Customs and Border Protection officers seized 5,566 pounds of methamphetamine at San Ysidro in the 2012 fiscal year, more than double two years earlier, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations unit. On the entire border, inspectors seized 13,195 pounds, also more than double. From October 2012 through March, seizures totaled 2,169 pounds at San Ysidro and 1,730 pounds at Otay Mesa, giving San Diego 61 percent of the 6,364 pounds seized at Mexican border crossings. Much of the rest was found in Laredo, Texas; Nogales; and Calexico, Calif.San Ysidro — unlike other busy border crossings — blends into a sprawl of 18 million people that includes Los Angeles, one of the nation's top distribution hubs. By contrast, El Paso is more than 600 miles from Dallas on a lonely highway with Border Patrol checkpoints.Rush-hour comes weekday mornings, with thousands of motorists clogging Tijuana streets to approach 24 U.S.-bound inspection lanes on their way to school or work. Vendors weave between cars, hawking cappuccinos, burritos, newspapers and trinkets.A $732 million expansion that has created even longer delays may offer an extra incentive for smugglers who bet that inspectors will move people quickly to avoid criticism for hampering commerce and travel, said Joe Garcia, assistant special agent in charge of ICE investigations in San Diego.Children are caught with methamphetamine strapped to their bodies several times a week — an "alarming increase," according to Garcia. They are typically paid $50 to $200 for each trip, carrying 3 pounds on average.Drivers, who collect up to $2,000 per trip, conceal methamphetamine in bumpers, batteries, radiators and almost any other crevice imaginable. Packaging is smothered with mustard, baby powder and laundry detergent to fool drug-sniffing dogs.Crystals are increasingly dissolved in water, especially during the last year, making the drug more difficult to detect in giant X-ray scanners that inspectors order some motorists to drive through. The water is later boiled and often mixed with acetone, a combustible fluid used in paints that yields clear shards of methamphetamine favored by users. The drug often remains in liquid form until reaching its final distribution hub.The government has expanded X-ray inspections of cars at the border in recent years, but increased production in Mexico and the Sinaloa cartel's presence are driving the seizures, Garcia said. "This is a new corridor for them," he said. The U.S. government shut large methamphetamine labs during the last decade as it introduced sharp limits on chemicals used to make the drug, causing production to shift to Mexico. The U.S. State Department said in March that the Mexican government seized 958 labs under former President Felipe Calderon from 2006 to 2012, compared with 145 under the previous administration. Mexico seized 267 labs last year, up from 227 in 2011.As production moved to central Mexico, the Sinaloa cartel found opportunity in Tijuana in 2008 when it backed a breakaway faction of the Arellano Felix clan, named for a family that controlled the border smuggling route for two decades. Sinaloa, led by Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman, had long dominated nearby in eastern California and Arizona.Tijuana registered 844 murders in 2008 in a turf war that horrified residents with castrated bodies hanging from bridges. After the Sinaloa cartel prevailed, the Mexican border city of more than 2 million people returned to relative calm, with 332 murders last year and almost no public displays of brutality.Alfonzo "Achilles" Arzate and his younger brother Rene, known as "The Frog," have emerged as top Sinaloa operatives in Tijuana — the former known as the brains and the latter as the brawn. The elder Arzate has been mentioned on wire intercepts for drug deals as far as Chicago, Hill said.He appears to have gained favor with the Sinaloa cartel brass after another cartel operative raided one of his warehouses in October 2010, leading to a shootout and the government seizing 134 tons of marijuana.
Methamphetamine has also turned into a scourge throughout Tijuana, becoming the most common drug offense for dealers and consumers in the last five years, said Miguel Angel Guerrero, coordinator of the Baja California state attorney general's organized crime unit."It has increased a lot in the city because it's cheaper than cocaine, even cheaper than marijuana," he said.Disputes among street dealers lead to spurts of violence in Tijuana, said Guerrero, including April's murder tally of 56 bodies. But the killings pale in numbers and brutality compared to the dark days of 2008 and 2009. While president, Calderon hailed Tijuana as a success story in his war on cartels."The Sinaloa cartel, their presence here has been strong enough to the point that no one is pushing back," said the DEA's Hill. "They just simply want to focus on making money and moving the dope across."

Iranian official signals no scaling back in nuclear activity

By Alissa de Carbonnel JUNE 28,13
ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) - Iran will press ahead with its uranium enrichment program, its nuclear energy chief said on Friday, signaling no change of course despite the victory of a relative moderate in the June 14 presidential election.Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani, head of the Islamic Republic's Atomic Energy Organization, said production of nuclear fuel would "continue in line with our declared goals. The enrichment linked to fuel production will also not change."Speaking through an interpreter to reporters at a nuclear energy conference in St Petersburg, Russia, he said work at Iran's underground Fordow plant - which the West wants Iran to close - would also continue. Iran refines uranium at Fordow that is a relatively close technical step away from weapons-grade.Iran says it is enriching uranium to fuel a planned network of nuclear energy power plants, and also for medical purposes. But enriched uranium can also provide the fissile material for nuclear bombs if processed further, which the West fears may be Tehran's ultimate goal.
Abbasi-Davani said Iran's so far only nuclear power plant - which has suffered repeated delays - had been "brought back online" three days ago and was working at 1,000 megawatt capacity. A U.N. nuclear agency report said in May that the Russian-built Bushehr plant was shut down, giving no reason."Thankfully in the last days, no concrete defects with the plant have been reported to me," Abbasi-Davani said.Hopes for a resolution to the nuclear dispute were boosted this month with the election as president of Hassan Rouhani, who has promised a more conciliatory approach to foreign relations than confrontational predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Rouhani will take office in early August.
NO FORDOW CLOSURE
As chief nuclear negotiator under a reformist president between 2003 and 2005, Rouhani struck a deal with European Union powers under which Iran temporarily suspended uranium enrichment activities. The work restarted after Ahmadinejad was first elected and has been sharply expanded.Iran's theocratic supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Wednesday the nuclear stand-off could easily be resolved if the West were to stop being so stubborn. The hardline Khamenei wields ultimate control over Iranian nuclear policy, although the president exerts some influence. While accusing the West of being more interested in regime change than ending the dispute, Khamenei did express a desire to resolve an issue which has led to ever tighter and more damaging sanctions on Iran's oil sector and the wider economy. But analysts say it remains highly uncertain whether Iran may now be more prepared to meet the demands of world powers that it immediately halt its most sensitive enrichment, to a fissile concentration of 20 percent, and stop work at Fordow.Asked whether there would be any change in Iranian policy after Rouhani's election and whether it could suspend 20 percent enrichment, Abbasi-Davani said Iran's nuclear program was aimed at producing electricity and for medical purposes."In line with these two goals of course the production of energy will not stop," he said.Fordow is under the monitoring of the U.N.'s International Atomic Energy Agency, he said. "So in line with our declared plans ... we will of course continue our work at this center."Iran will soon hand over to the Vienna-based IAEA a list with plans for new nuclear reactor sites, he said, speaking in front of a model of the Bushehr reactor at the Islamic state's stand at the nuclear industry fair in St Petersburg.

Islamists rally to support Egypt's president

JUNE 28,13
CAIRO (AP) — Thousands of backers of Egypt's Islamist president rallied Friday in Cairo in a show of support ahead of planned opposition protests this weekend demanding his removal, as passengers swamped the capital's international airport to leave, fearing widespread violence. The opposition plans to bring out massive crowds on Sunday in protests nationwide, vowing to force President Mohammed Morsi to step down. Across the city from the pro-Morsi rally Friday, thousands massed in Cairo's central Tahrir Square, shouting for the president to "leave, leave,"For the past several days, Morsi's opponents and members of his Muslim Brotherhood have been battling it out in the streets of several cities in the Nile Delta in violence that has left at least five dead. The latest died Friday from injuries suffered in fighting the day before, security officials said. Many fear the clashes are a prelude to more widespread and bloodier battles on Sunday. In a sign of the charged atmosphere, a senior cleric, Sheik Hassan al-Shafie, from Al-Azhar, the country's most eminent Muslim religious institution, warned of the possibility of "civil war" after the street clashes in the Delta. The Cairo International Airport was flooded with departures, in an exodus airport officials called unprecedented. They said all flights departing Friday to Europe, the United States and the Gulf were fully booked with no vacant seats. Many of those leaving were families of Egyptian officials and businessmen and those of foreign and Arab League diplomats — as well as many Egyptian Christians, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to talk to the press. Both sides have vowed to remain peaceful, and each side has blamed the other for the violence so far.Tamarod, the activist group whose anti-Morsi petition campaign evolved into Sunday's planned protest, said in a statement it was opposed "to any attack against anybody, whatever the disagreement with this person was," and accused the Brotherhood of sparking violence to scare people from participating Sunday.Tamarod says it has collected nearly 20 million signatures in the country of 90 million demanding Morsi step down. The Brotherhood says the five killed in the Delta clashes were its members. Some people "think they can topple a democratically elected President by killing his support groups," Gehad el-Haddad, a Brotherhood spokesman, wrote on his Twitter account. The pro-Morsi rally was held in front of the Rabia el-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo, not far from the presidential palace, which is one of the sites where the opposition plans its protests Friday.
In his Friday prayer sermon, the cleric of Rabia el-Adawiya warned that if Morsi is ousted "there will be no president for the country" and Egypt will descend into "opposition hell."Thousands of Morsi backers filled the street outside, chanting religious slogans. "It is for God, not for position or power," they shouted. "Raise your voice strong, Egyptian: Islamic Shariah." Many wore green headbands with the slogans of the Muslim Brotherhood.Security officials say three people have died in the past three days in Nile Delta city of Mansoura, along with two others in the nearby province of Sharqiya. In Sharqiya on Thursday, an Islamist march encountered an anti-Morsi march, leading to scuffles that evolved into full-fledged battles, the officials said. The two sides hurled stones at each other and fired gunshots, and at least 70 were injured. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the press. In the Delta city of Tanta on Friday, four unidentified men believed to be Morsi supporters tried to attack a mosque preacher during his sermon, in which he called on worshippers to stand with Al-Azhar's calls to avoid bloodshed.
Hundreds of protesters in the nearby city of Bassioun hurled stones at the local headquarters of the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party. They tore down the party's sign and crushed it, security officials said.

Vatican official arrested in corruption plot

VATICAN CITY (AP) — A Vatican official has been arrested by Italian police for allegedly trying to illegally bring 20 million euros ($26 million) in cash into the country from Switzerland with a private jet.
Prosecutor Nello Rossi says Monsignor Nunzio Scarano is accused of corruption and slander stemming from the plot and was being held at a Rome prison. He was allegedly asked by friends to bring back the money that had been given to financier Giovanni Carenzio in Switzerland. Scarano is supposed to have asked Giovanni Zito, a military official, to bring the money back by jet, avoiding customs.Scarano was allegedly due to pay Zito a commission of 600,000 euros for the work. He paid only an initial installment of 400,000 euros before being arrested.

Kerry's shuttle diplomacy lands him in Jerusalem

JUNE 28,13
JERUSALEM (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry shuttled between Israelis and Palestinians Friday in his latest diplomatic mission to coax the two sides back to the negotiating table and revive the Mideast peace process.Kerry returned to Jerusalem for second visit in less than 24 hours after a 2½-hour meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, Jordan, Kerry's base of operations during his stop in the Middle East. That followed a lengthy dinner meeting Thursday night in Jerusalem with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The goal is to restart talks on finding a two-state solution to the conflict.
Kerry, who's on a two-week swing through the Middle East and Asia, met with Abbas in a diplomatic area of the Jordanian capital."It's good to be back and I look forward to our conversation. We have a lot to talk about, obviously, as you know," Kerry told Abbas. As reporters and photographers were ushered out of the meeting, Kerry turned to Abbas and said: "We had a good long meeting." It was an apparent reference to his meeting with Netanyahu the night before. "We're going back."The State Department said Kerry and Abbas had a "very constructive discussion" focused on advancing the peace process, and that Iran and Syria also came up.After the first Netanyahu session, the department said the two had a "productive, in-depth and wide-ranging conversation" and that Kerry reiterated his commitment to working with all parties to achieve a two-state solution.State Department officials say Kerry will continue to try to find common ground between the two sides that would lead to a resumption of negotiations. On this trip, Kerry is trying to pin down precisely what conditions Abbas and Netanyahu have for resuming talks and perhaps discuss confidence-building measures.

Deal on longterm EU budget after last-minute talks

27.06.13 @ 12:17
BRUSSELS - EU negotiators Thursday reached a last-minute political agreement on the 2014-2020 budget, sparing the EU the embarrassing prospect of hosting a jobs-focused summit without being able to commit money to fighting unemployment.Following torturous negotiations over recent weeks, officials announced a breakthrough just hours before leaders come to Brussels for their June summit."This is a good deal for Europe," said European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.Martin Schulz, European Parliament President, said it was an "acceptable outcome" although he added that he will have to "fight" to gain the absolute majority of MEPs needed to pass the budget. The main sticking points concerned how the money would be spent as the actual sum - €908 billion in payments agreed in February by member states - was not up for negotiation.MEPs, who lamented the size of the overall sum, were keen to make sure all the money is used, with around €55bn from the current longterm budget unspent or used elsewhere."The goal of the European parliament was how to make sure that the €908 billion foreseen are really available," said Schulz.
"With the mechanism we just agreed, the European Parliament is sure that the €908 billion will be available and spent. And we need it."MEPs also managed to secure a "binding" revision clause, something Schulz termed "one of the biggest (steps of) progress we made."They also secured a promise from the commission to look into making the budget cycle a five-year one, in line with the mandate of the EU institutions. For his part, Barroso noted that the deal includes "frontloading of expenditure on critical issues like youth employment, research, Erasmus (the student exchange programme) and SMEs."The agreement will allow leaders at their summit to say that €6 billion should immediately be spent on tackling youth unemployment, the major social issue facing governments across the bloc. The deal must be passed unanimously by member states and an absolute majority of MEPs."I am confident that we can bring all the member states with us on this," said Prime Minister Enda Kenny of Ireland, heading the negotiations for governments.Schulz said he would recommend to political group leaders that the budget is put to plenary next week. "I must fight for a majority," he said.Part of the deal rests on member states agreeing to cover the holes in the budget for 2013, something they have pledged to do by 9 July at the latest."This is mutual trust," said Schulz, who noted that if governments reneged on this part of the bargain, and parliament had voted to accept the 2014-2020 budget framework then work on the 72 pieces of legislation needed to get the budget up and running would immediately be "suspended."

EIB in spotlight as leaders eye increased business lending

Today @ 07:37 JUNE 28,13
The communique expected to be endorsed at the end of the summit urges the EIB to "implement its plan to increase its lending activity in the EU by 50% over 2013-2015."It also called for greater cooperation between national development banks and the EIB to increase opportunities for co-lending.Meanwhile, a joint paper presented at the summit by the European Commission and the EIB, suggested that merging EU structural funds together with EIB money could re-launch an EU securitisation market and leverage up to €100 billion. Representatives from the EU's executive arm and the EIB are expected to report back at the October summit.EU officials are keen to use the EIB to ease the credit crunch faced by small businesses. Loans to businesses have contracted every month for the past year, with lending conditions particularly tight in the countries worst affected by the eurozone debt crisis and economic stagnation.Member states agreed to provide an additional €10 billion of equity for the EIB in June 2012 as part of a so-called Growth and Jobs pact, with leaders claiming that this could be leveraged to facilitate €60 billion in extra lending. The Luxembourg-based bank's lending operation in the EU totalled €44.7 billion in 2012, with the bank pledging to increase lending to €62 billion in 2013 followed by €60 billion in 2014 and 2015.However, there remain doubts that the extra funds will lead to higher lending.EIB boss Werner Hoyer, a former minister in Angela Merkel's German government, is reluctant to risk lending that could jeopardise the banks triple-AAA credit rating.Prior to the summit talks, a European Council official voiced frustration at the bank's apparent reluctance to lend. "We feel they haven't used the money boost enough, so we're looking at new ways to increase risk sharing," he said. For his part, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte told deputies in his national parliament on Wednesday (26 June) that retaining the EIB's credit rating was a priority for his government, warning that otherwise the bank would pay higher interest rates on the capital markets.A German official said that concerns about the EIB's triple-AAA rating "are of course important," adding that reports on the activity of the Luxembourg-based bank indicated that "they use the money exactly as they are supposed to."
Carsten Brzeski, a senior economist for ING, described the 50 percent target as "highly ambitious."
"The biggest problem for this to fly is the credit rating of the EIB….up to now the EIB has been pretty reluctant to put on more risk," he told this website. He also indicated that pooling structural funds and EIB money would be a better way to channel financial resources."Instead of increasing the lending capacity, moving towards more securitisation would probably work better. It would also bring the ECB on board," he said.

WASHINGTON — The National Cathedral is pealing its church bells, along with some other Washington churches, to celebrate the Supreme Court's decisions on gay marriage.Cathedral spokesman Richard Weinberg says the bells will ring at noon Wednesday for 45 minutes to an hour. Bells were also set to ring at other Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, Unitarian and other Christian churches. The cathedral scheduled a prayer service for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families Wednesday at 7 p.m. to celebrate the ruling.

In a statement, the cathedral's dean, the Rev. Gary Hall, says the church is ringing its bells "to celebrate the extension of federal marriage equality to all the same-sex couples modeling God's love in lifelong covenants."
Hall says the ruling should serve as a call for Christians to embrace religious marriage equality.

PM: Peace Intrinsically Linked to Israel Self-Defense

PM: Any peace deal with the Palestinian Authority must be based on Israel's ability to defend itself if the agreement breaks down.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the 109th anniversary of the death of the father of modern Zionism, Theodor Herzl, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stressed that any peace deal with the Palestinian Authority must be based on Israel's ability to defend itself if the agreement breaks down.Speaking just hours before US Secretary of State John Kerry’s arrival, Netanyahu said that, "Peace rests on security. It is not based on good will or legitimacy as some think. It is based, first and foremost, on our ability to defend ourselves.”Kerry is due back in Jerusalem on Thursday evening on his fifth trip in as many months as he seeks to coax Israel and the Palestinian Authority back to direct negotiations, which collapsed nearly three years ago."Without security, without the army that Herzl called to establish, we cannot defend peace, we cannot defend ourselves if the peace unravels," Netanyahu said in remarks communicated by his office.
"A basic condition for the existence of peace, for the achievement of it and for preserving it, is security," the prime minister affirmed.President Shimon Peres, also speaking at the ceremony on Mount Herzl stated that, “Peace is a moral foundation of Judaism; it is an existential need of the Jewish state. A binational state contradicts the vision of Herzl; it endangers the Jewish and democratic state of Israel.”“There is a chance to renew the peace process, and it is not to be missed. We welcome the arrival of Secretary of State Kerry, to Israel. This is an effort to revive the process and we will all help it to succeed,” he added.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, met local religious leaders in Jerusalem on Thursday and invited them to visit him in London, Israeli officials said.Welby, who has Jewish roots, and is seen by some as a potential ally of the Jewish people, is on his first trip to the Holy Land since taking office in March but had visited the region before becoming the leader of the world's 80 million Anglicans, his office said."Archbishop Justin is making this trip early in his ministry because of the significance of the region, the importance of the relationships that his Office has there, and because he is keenly aware of the particular pressures on the region at the moment – not least the devastating conflict in Syria," it said.“The Archbishop, who has visited the Middle East several times prior to taking on his new role, is deeply concerned for justice and for the security of all the peoples of the region, and the pressures on its Christian communities."Since arriving from Jordan on Wednesday, Welby has visited Christian, Muslim and Jewish sites, including the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial."We hope that we will see the same kind of cooperation that we had with his predecessor, both in terms of the relationship and in terms of dialogue," the Israeli foreign ministry said.On Thursday he met Israeli President Shimon Peres and then had lunch with leaders of various faiths."He extended an invitation to them to come to visit," an Israeli official told AFP on condition of anonymity.Welby was due to visit Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmud Abbas later on Thursday and return home on Friday, the official said.

Dagan to Netanyahu: You Want to Shoot? Shoot!

It's not wise to threaten Syrian President Bashar Assad at the present time, says former Mossad chief in response to PM's remarks.
By Elad Benari-First Publish: 6/27/2013, 5:15 AM-Israelnationalnews

Meir Dagan
Meir Dagan-Flash 90
Former Mossad chief Meir Dagan said on Wednesday that threatening Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in his present situation is problematic.Dagan, who spoke at Tel Aviv University, was responding to remarks made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu earlier in the day, as he and Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon observed a drill of the Golani Brigade in the Golan Heights.Netanyahu spoke about the current fragile quiet in the Golan, and declared, “Nobody will hurt the State of Israel. We have a very strong, very decisive response.”“We need the will to break our enemies and to put the fear of death into them,” he added.
Dagan said in response, “You want to shoot? Shoot, don’t talk.”“It would be better for Israel if the Assad regime falls but we should not offend Assad and tease him,” he added. “You want to act? Just act!"
Dagan has several times in the past criticized Netanyahu’s policies. He previously said he does not believe a nuclear Iran would be an existential threat to Israel and also said the Netanyahu government’s policies on Iran are irresponsible, publicly warning against attacking Iran.In one incident, he verbally confronted Minister Gilad Erdan during a conference in New York. The two were at odds over disparaging remarks to Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Barak that were made by former Shin Bet head Yuval Diskin.
On Wednesday evening, Dagan said that the main threat to Israel remains Iran's nuclear program, adding that the regime in Tehran is moving toward developing nuclear weapons. With that, said Dagan, President-elect Hassan Rowhani will probably have to get closer to the West because the sanctions that are being imposed on Iran are hurting its economy.

Britain Bars US Anti-Islam Activists from Entering Country

Great Britain has barred American anti-Islam activists, including Pamela Geller, from entering the country, labeling them “extremists”.

Great Britain has barred a pair of American anti-Islam activists from entering the country, labeling them “extremists” whose “presence here is not conducive to the public good,” The Hill reported.Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, co-founders of the organization Stop Islamization of America, had been invited to speak at a rally of the English Defense League, but the British Home Office informed them Tuesday that they were not welcome in the country after the leftist group “HOPE not hate” initiated a campaign against them.
“The Home Secretary has reached this decision because you have brought yourself within the scope of the list of unacceptable behaviors by making statements that may foster hatred which might lead to inter-community violence in the UK,” the Home Office letter said, as reported by The Hill.Geller and Spencer were leaders in the movement to stop the construction of a mosque near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack in New York City. Geller sponsored a poster campaign against Jihad on the New York City Transit System."In not allowing us into the country solely because of our true and accurate statements about Islam," Geller said, "the British government is behaving like a de facto Islamic state. The nation that gave the world the Magna Carta is dead."

Fear and Loathing in Ramla: MK Visits

After hearing horror stories from local Jews, MK Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) warns coastal city could turn Arab.

MK Ayelet Shaked (Bayit Yehudi) visited Ramla on Thursday, and was guided by Michael Yomtovian, a rabbi in a local school.
MK Shaked's visit concentrated on the neighborhood of Amishav, which was established in the 1950s by immigrants from Tunis. The neighborhood is experiencing a hostile takeover by Arabs. The trouble began, local Jews said, when the Defense Ministry began settling former Arab Shin Bet collaborators in the neighborhood. These people, they explained, feel that they are above the law and will be protected by the government, which bought their homes for them, no matter what they do.The locals told stories of repeated criminal acts against people and property, including rock throwing, hurling eggs at homes, puncturing tires, torching of cars and breaking in to the local day care center. The police are helpless, they added. “Once I called the police and they asked me, 'What do you suggest that we do?',” recounted Yomtovian. “I don't get it. Do I work for the police?”Sofia Cohen, who runs the local day care center, said that “the nursery school teachers are afraid when they make their way to and from the the center. The Arab residents break into our center at night, vomit on the floor, throw broken bottles into the center, endanger us and our children. You must understand that the center is 'the crown pearl' of the neighborhood.”At the end of the tour, Shaked was invited to the Cohen family's home. The father, a Ramla pioneer, said that Arabs come to the house every week to try and buy it from him, but he refuses to sell it “for any price in the world.” Cohen said that he told the potential buyer directly: “I do not sell to Arabs!”The Arab told him – “You will see that whether you want to or not, you will have to sell to Arabs. Wait and see.”Shaked also saw an abandoned structure that used to be a yeshiva. “It is sad to see the abandonment and helplessness of the police, and the other elements that are supposed to take care of the area," she said. "We are at a critical time, at which Ramla can turn into 'Lod number two', where the Jewish majority is retaking control of its city, or G-d forbid we may lose the city to an Arab majority, so that one day, Ramla might seem like a distant dream about a city that could have been a wonderful pearl in the coastal plain region.”

Democrats block Texas abortion bill after senator’s 10-hour filibuster attempt

Her filibuster attempt stalled about two hours short of the deadline over a complaint that she violated rules, and the Republican-controlled Senate then began voting on the bill to cries of protests from spectators.
Republicans said they met the deadline but Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, after meeting with lawmakers, said some of their votes came in after midnight, the effective close for the 30-day special session.
Dewhurst also bemoaned the “unruly mob” at the capitol, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The bill called for stricter standards for abortion clinics.Republican backers said it would protect women’s health and that the ban on late-term abortions would protect the fetus, based on disputed research that suggests pain is felt by 20 weeks of development.Opponents said it would force nearly all Texas abortion clinics to close or be rebuilt.Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic party, said Davis displayed courage in her filibuster bid.Davis, who began speaking at 11:15 a.m. local time, was prevented by procedural rules from deviating off-topic or taking a break by eating, leaning against her desk, sitting down or using the rest room.Republicans tried to disrupt her by charging that she meandered off-topic and, at one point, received help adjusting a supportive back brace.Davis whittled away chunks of time by reading testimony and messages from women and others decrying the legislation, reciting previously suggested changes to the bill and tapping into her own life history as a single mother at 19.She said the bill would have choked off her own access to a local Planned Parenthood clinic.“I was a poor, uninsured woman, whose only care was provided through that facility. It was my medical home,” said Davis, now 50, several hours into her speech.Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst, who is Senate president, suspended the filibuster after roughly 10 hours, to cries of “let her speak” from supporters.Democrats appealed the ruling, sparking a row over parliamentary rules. After the session, Davis said on social media: “An incredible victory for Texas women and those who love them.”But Republican Governor Rick Perry, a strong opponent of abortion, could still revive the proposal by calling the legislature into a new special session. The U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion nationwide in 1973, but conservative states have enacted laws in recent years that seek to place restrictions on the procedure, especially on abortions performed late in pregnancy.Twelve states have passed 20-week bans, including two states where the bans take effect later this year, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights. Courts have blocked the bans in three of the 12 states – Arizona, Georgia and Idaho.Earlier this month, the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill banning abortions 20 weeks after fertilization. The measure is extremely unlikely to become law because Democrats control the U.S. Senate and the White House. The Texas proposal would allow exemptions for abortions to save a woman’s life and in cases of severe fetal abnormalities.“In Texas, we value all life, and we’ve worked to cultivate a culture that supports the birth of every child,” Perry said. The abortion debate simmers elsewhere in the United States.North Dakota’s only abortion clinic on Tuesday filed a federal challenge to a new state law, the most restrictive in the country, one that would ban procedures to end pregnancy once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, as early as six weeks.A Philadelphia jury last month convicted abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell of murdering three babies during abortions at a clinic in a high-profile case that focused national attention on late-term abortions.

Report: Netanyahu agrees to Kerry peace talk terms

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 |  Ryan Jones
Peace Process
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a series of concessions proposed by US Secretary of State John Kerry with the aim of kick starting peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, according to Israeli media.Netanyahu will reportedly set free 120 Palestinian terrorists jailed prior to the signing of the "Oslo" peace accords in 1993. The Palestinian insist that because these men carried out their crimes prior to the signing of any agreements, they must be viewed as prisoners of war, not criminals, despite their attempts to mass murder Jewish men, women and children.Of course, the Palestinian regime also insists that terrorists jailed after the signing of the peace agreements are, in fact, not terrorists either, since they merely killed Jews who were "occupying" their land.Netanyahu is also said to be ready to halt all Jewish construction outside of major settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria, the so-called "West Bank" that the Palestinians claim for their future state. Israeli officials have already acknowledged that a de facto construction freeze is in place.
The goal of these concessions is to give Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas something he can present as a "victory" in order to entice him back to the negotiating table.According to Palestinian reports, it was only partly successful. While Abbas is reportedly ready to drop his preconditions for renewing talks, he will only do so temporarily. In essence, according to Palestinian media reports, Abbas will come to the negotiating table with the intent of blackmailing Netanyahu. If Netanyahu fails to make a proposal that meets all Arab demands right away, Abbas has threatened to again turn to the United Nations to unilaterally recognize an independent Palestinian state.Despite what many in the region recognize as the same old intractable positions, Kerry is hailing the deal as a historic opportunity and is expected back in the region shortly.

Kerry: Urgent progress is needed on Mideast peace

KUWAIT CITY (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry said Wednesday that he's set no ad hoc deadline for making concrete progress in talks between Israel and the Palestinians that he's continuing this week, but that long before September there needs to be some kind of progress shown. The U.N. General Assembly, which reconvenes in September, voted overwhelmingly in November to upgrade the Palestinians from U.N. observer to non-voting member state. The Palestinians have said that if attempts at reaching an accord between the two sides fail, they would pursue a strategy of international recognition on their own, which would make finding peace in the decades-long conflict more elusive.Kerry spoke during a news conference with Kuwait's emir, Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah. Later Wednesday, he was heading to Amman, Jordan, which he will use as a base for diplomacy with Jordanian, Israeli and Palestinian officials. It is Kerry's fifth visit to the region since becoming secretary of state earlier this year."The time is getting near where we need to make some judgments. Last time, I was here, I said it's time for leaders to make some hard decisions," Kerry said. "That stands. It is time. Why is it urgent? It's urgent because time is the enemy of a peace process.""I don't want to trap myself or any of the principals in this with arbitrary — or somewhat ad hoc time limits," Kerry said. But he added: "Long before September we need to be showing some kind of progress in some way. ... That's why I'm here for this visit and I hope it can be productive."Kerry has been shuttling between the Israelis and the Palestinians in search of a formula to restart talks. So far, there have been no signs of a breakthrough.Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is being propelled toward a stark choice that could come as soon as next week, define his legacy and set the course for his people in their conflict with Israel. Abbas' aides fear he's being pushed by the U.S. into dropping his conditions for negotiating with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Israeli settlements are at the heart of the heart of the nearly five-year impasse in Mideast peace efforts. The Palestinians say they will not negotiate while Israel continues to construct settlements in territory they seek for a future state. Netanyahu says the fate of the settlements should be resolved in negotiations, and talks should resume immediately without any preconditions. The Palestinians claim the West Bank and east Jerusalem, which were captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war, as parts of a future state."We come at this carefully. We have been working towards, hopefully an understanding that allows everybody to move forward, notwithstanding the difficulties that people face in the politics of their own countries," he said. "Why am I confident that something can be done? Because I believe peace is understood by them — both of them — to be urgent."On Syria, Kerry acknowledged that getting a transitional government set up was a "hard lift."But he painted a dire picture of the alternative to convening an international conference to reach a political resolution to the two-year civil war."The people of Syria are suffering ... the prospect a long, continued war, which is very possible, means not only will many, many people die, many more homes will be destroyed, cities be destroyed," he said. "Not only will you have more atrocities, more violations of human rights, even some small evidence here and there of some ethnic cleansing.""Not only will you have all that, but you may ultimately have complete destruction of the state of Syria so that the army and the institutions will fall apart and you will have a complete sectarian breakdown," he said, "and that becomes far more dangerous for all of the region because it will empower extremists as well as create ongoing sectarian strife" in the region.Kerry reiterated his called for Iran and the Hezbollah fighters, which are bolstering Assad's forces, to leave Syria — a move he said would make it easier for a political resolution to be reached.

U.S. says Israeli, Palestinian leaders want peace talks

By Lesley Wroughton and Sylvia Westall
KUWAIT (Reuters) - Israeli and Palestinian leaders are both committed to reviving peace talks, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Wednesday, but he acknowledged that progress on the long-stalled negotiations would be tough.Israeli-Palestinian talks broke down in late 2010 in a dispute over construction of Jewish settlements on occupied West Bank land that Palestinians want as part of their future state.Kerry, who held separate talks with both sides in May, said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas wanted the peace process to move forward. This would be Kerry's fifth attempt to restart talks."I believe they believe the peace process is bigger than any one day or one moment, or certainly more important to their countries than some of their current political challenges," he told a news conference in Kuwait with Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Sabah."That is why both of them have indicated a seriousness of purpose. I would not be here now if I didn't have the belief this is possible," he said.Kerry earlier met Kuwait's ruler, crown prince and foreign minister as part of a regional tour. He flies to Amman later on Wednesday and will meet separately with Jordan's King Abdullah, Netanyahu and Abbas during his two-day trip there. There has been no public indication from the Palestinians that Abbas is prepared to drop his long-standing demand for a freeze in settlement construction before resuming peace talks. In an apparent bid to support Kerry's efforts, Netanyahu has quietly halted housing starts in settlements in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since his new government came to power in March, Israel's housing minister said earlier this month, but projects already under way are continuing.Kerry said he did not want to set any deadlines for the peace process but called for progress before the United Nations General Assembly in September. Mistrust needed to be overcome, he said, to "avoid the disappointment and failures of the past".On Tuesday, Netanyahu said Israel intended to persist in the negotiations to tackle all the issues. "This will require time, determination and a systematic approach," he said, adding that he hoped the Palestinians sought the same.(Additional reporting by Jeffrey Heller in Jerusalem; Editing by Alistair Lyon)

Jordan Warns Israel-PA Situation Could ‘Explode’ If Talks Fail

Jordan’s King Abdullah II warns Israel-PA relations could “explode” if talks fail, and the Syrian civil war may lead to a regional conflict.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II warned ahead of a visit by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry that relations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority could “explode” if final status talks fail, and that the Syrian civil war is rapidly spiraling out of control into a regional conflict.Kerry is set to arrive Wednesday from Kuwait, where he has been discussing the prospects of financial aid for the PA, among other issues. But Abdullah said that unless final status talks are launched quickly, it is more likely the region will see another round of Arab Spring violence – this time started by the Palestinian Authority. The Hashemite monarch added that the Syrian civil war across his northern border could also ignite a regional war unless the international community is able to convene peace talks soon, according to the London-based A-sharq al-Awsat newspaper.“It has become clear to all that the Syrian crisis may extend from being a civil war to a regional and sectarian conflict...the extent of which is unknown,” the king warned in the interview.“It is time for a more serious Arab and international coordination to stop the deterioration of the Syrian crisis. The situation cannot wait any longer,” he added.Jordan has absorbed more than half a million Syrian refugees, according to the United Nations. Most are being housed in U.N.-supplied tent cities in the country’s northern Mafraq sector, near the Syrian border. At least 1.5 million Syrian citizens have fled the country, and more than two million others are homeless and displaced within the country.

Abbas Planning Another UN Move, Says Israeli Official

Israel believes that Abbas's willingness to meet Netanyahu may be a ploy to buy time so he can make more unilateral moves at the UN.

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas

Israel believes that Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s willingness to meet Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu may be a ploy meant at buying time so he can make more unilateral moves at the United Nations, officials said Tuesday. The officials spoke to Channel 2 News a day after reports that said Abbas has caved in to pressure from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and has agreed to meet Netanyahu.Abbas reportedly told his associates that he would be willing to meet Netanyahu, but only for a limited time period in order to test the seriousness of the Prime Minister’s intentions to reach a peace agreement.Ma’ariv reported on Tuesday that in order to help kickstart the negotiations, Netanyahu has agreed to release some terror prisoners who have been in jail since before the signing of the Oslo Accords and also pass a formal decision in the Cabinet freezing Jewish construction outside of the settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria.Abbas, reported the newspaper, has agreed in exchange to drop two of his preconditions on talks with Israel: that talks be based on the 1949 Armistice lines and that borders for a PA state be sketched in advance of the negotiations. An unnamed senior Israeli official told Channel 2 News, however, that Israel was unaware of any agreement by Abbas to give up his preconditions. The official said that Israel is aware, however, that Abbas is planning to attend the UN General Assembly in September and launch yet another unilateral move.According to the official, Abbas is trying to "prepare the ground" for his unilateral move, and as such has expressed willingness to go along with Kerry’s efforts to resume peace talks for a limited time period.Since 2010, Abbas has refused to directly talk to Netanyahu, insisting instead on a full construction freeze in Judea and Samaria as one of his endless preconditions for negotiations with Israel. A previous 10-month freeze failed to lure Abbas to the negotiating table; he agreed to talk shortly before the freeze was scheduled to end, but broke off talks immediately when it was not extended.Last week Abbas said he supports Kerry's efforts to revive peace talks with Israel. Kerry will return to the Middle East on Thursday, with a stop in Jordan before making his fifth visit to meet Israeli and PA leaders.Netanyahu has consistently called on Abbas to return to the negotiating table without preconditions. Last week he told The Washington Post, “If Secretary Kerry, whose efforts we support, were to pitch a tent halfway between here and Ramallah — that’s 15 minutes away driving time — I’m in it, I’m in the tent. And I’m committed to stay in the tent and negotiate for as long as it takes to work out a solution of peace and security between us and the Palestinians.

EJC: EU Readily Labels 'Settlements', Refuses to Ban Hizbullah

European Jewish Congress blasts EU's move to label goods over 'Green Line' as body refuses to label Hizbullah a terror organization.

In a letter sent to all leaders of European Union member states, European Jewish Congress President Dr. Moshe Kantor has compared the EU’s moves to label goods from Israeli companies operating over the ‘Green Line’ with the long overdue proscription of Hizbullah.“Firstly, this policy is seen as discriminatory as the European Union appears to be singling out one disputed territory of the world for special treatment, whereas the European Union has no similar policies for the other tens of territories that are the subject of international disputes.”“Moreover, the timing of the labeling issue is inauspicious as it is diverting energies that could be better placed supporting positive moves towards restarting direct negotiations between the parties,” Kantor wrote. “I believe that the implementation of a policy which is seen as one-sided and biased at this time will only serve to negatively affect this positive momentum and increase ill-faith and bad feeling between the parties.”The EJC also argues that this policy will also have a negative effect on the Arab population, many of whom work or are supported by these Israeli companies.“This policy will also have the additional problematic effect of disenfranchising tens of thousands of Palestinians who work for these Israeli companies, earning pay far greater than in the Palestinian Authority, and their dependents, who would suffer an enormous financial blow from the ramifications of this policy,” Kantor said.Kantor wrote in the letter that while the labeling of goods originating over the ‘Green Line’ was problematic, it is made worse by the comparative lack of traction on the issue of adding Hizbullah to the EU list of terrorist organizations.“The greatest concern to us as European citizens is that while there is a consensus and movement on the labeling issue, there appears to be little movement on the goal of proscribing Hizbullah as a terrorist organization within the European Union,” Kantor wrote in the letter to the European leaders. “While the European Union’s oft-stated goal is to achieve peace and security in the Middle East, these words will remain hollow if an organization with a proven and undisputable record of murder and terrorism in Europe and around the world, and whose goal is to destroy the Jewish State, is allowed to act freely, recruit and raise funds unimpeded on the European continent.”“I would urge you to prioritize the proscription of an organization whose aim is to derail security and stability in the region and beyond, and whose ongoing role will ensure that peace will not be achieved in the Middle East. This is the greatest contribution the European Union can make to US Secretary of State Kerry’s efforts, and the efforts of those who wish to see a restart of negotiations which will lead to a resolution of the protracted conflict,” Kantor concluded.

EU-China rights talks marred by deadly riots

Today @ 09:27 JUNE 26,13
By Nikolaj Nielsen
BRUSSELS - EU diplomats met their Chinese counterparts in Guiyang to discuss human rights on Tuesday (25 June) as minorities clashed with police in the north-western part of the country, leaving scores dead.
The official Xinhua News Agency said riots in a remote town in the Turkic-speaking Xinjiang left 27 dead by early Wednesday morning.Seventeen protestors were killed, including nine security officers and eight civilians. Police also shot and killed 10 others.A large population of Muslim minority Uighurs live in the region, which has been the scene of previous deadly riots. In April, some 20 people were killed. Around 200 were killed in a 2009 uprising between the Han Chinese and Uighur communities. The EU diplomats in Guiyang said they expressed concerns over a wide rang of human rights issues, including those of ethnic and religious minorities.Led by a director from the European External Action Service, the EU delegation was taken on a field trip to a village in Guiyang - in south east China - where 97 percent of the population belongs to the Buyi ethnic group. The EU officials later met with the Guiyang governor. But for its part, the US-based NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) says the remote location of the dialogue in Guiyang is a ploy by the Chinese to weaken any meaningful dialogue.“This is precisely the kind of ‘dialogue’ the Chinese government likes best: away from senior Chinese officials, away from the international press, and with little ambition from either side to apply rights protection to real life situations in China,” said Lotte Leicht, EU director at HRW in Brussels, in a statement.HRW says the EU commitment last year to weave human rights into its foreign policy has netted few results. The organisation describes the EU pledge to back human rights defenders as “an empty gesture as far as Chinese activists are concerned.”It says the EU has accepted demands by the Chinese government to hold human rights dialogue out of the public view in a low-level and non-transparent diplomatic exercise.HRW says creating benchmarks to measure progress would be a more meaningful approach to the biannual dialogues held since 1995.The EU, for its part, notes that the next round of human rights discussions will take place in Europe before the end of the year.

MUSLIM NATIONS (SLAUGHTERED BY NUKES FOR COMING AGAINST ISRAEL)

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY) of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages;(ISRAEL) I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil,(OIL IS IN SPOIL) and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8,11-18
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back,(RUSSIA-ARAB MUSLIM ISRAEL HATERS) and leave but the sixth part of thee,(5/6TH OR 300 MILLION DEAD RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS I BELIEVE) and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog (RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS) a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers (EAST OF THE DEAD SEA IN JORDAN VALLEY) on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog (RUSSIAN) and all his multitude:(ARAB/MUSLIM HORDE) and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog.(BURIEL SITE OF THE 300 MILLION,RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIMS)
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.(OF ISRAEL)
13 Yea, all the people of the land (OF ISRAEL) shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I (GOD-JESUS) shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD.
14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment,(NUCLEAR BOMB EXPERTS) passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search.
15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it,(WON'T TOUCH IT) till the buriers have buried it (PROPERLY) in the valley of Hamongog.(RUSSIA/ARAB/MUSLIMS NEW BURIEL SITE)
16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.(OF THE ISRAEL-GOD HATERS)
17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl,(500 MILLION MIGRATING BIRDS THREW ISRAEL EVERY SPRING,FALL) and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.(OF THE RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ARMIES)
18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 And ye (MIGRATING BIRDS IN ISRAEL) shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you.(RUSSIAN/ARAB/MUSLIM ISRAEL HATERS)
20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
21 And I (GOD-JESUS) will set my glory among the heathen,(WORLD NATIONS) and all the heathen (WORLD NATIONS) shall see my judgment that I have executed,(AGAINST ISRAELS ENEMIES) and my (GODS) hand that I have laid upon them.(ISRAELS HATER ENEMIES)

3  And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir,(ARABS) I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.
4  I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
5  Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred,(AGAINST ISRAEL) and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:
6  Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.
11  Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
12  And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.
13  Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.
14  Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.(ARAB,MUSLIMS)
15  As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir,(ARABS) and all Idumea,(ARAB,MUSLIMS) even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

12  Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations,(USELESS U.N) that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!
13  The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.

Syria death toll tops 100,000, rebels lose border town

By Dominic Evans and Oliver Holmes
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's forces have retaken a town on the Lebanese border as they press an offensive against rebels in a conflict that has now cost more than 100,000 lives, activists said on Wednesday. The army took full control of Tel Kalakh, driving out insurgents and ending an unofficial truce under which it had allowed a small rebel presence to remain for several months. The fall of Tel Kalakh, two miles from the border with Lebanon, marks another gain for Assad after the capture of the rebel stronghold of Qusair this month, and consolidates his control around the central city of Homs, which links Damascus to his Alawite heartland overlooking the Mediterranean coast.Like Qusair, Tel Kalakh was used by rebels in the early stages of the conflict as a transit point for weapons and fighters smuggled into Syria to join the fight against Assad.Pro-Assad websites showed video footage of soldiers patrolling the town in armored cars and on foot."Terrorist groups infiltrated and terrorized the local people," an army officer said in the video. "In response to the request of the local people, the army entered Tel Kalakh to cleanse the area and restore security."The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a pro-opposition monitoring group, said rebels left the town on Tuesday, retreating towards the nearby Crusader fort of Crac des Chevaliers. Three rebels were killed as the army moved in.Six months ago, Assad's opponents were challenging the president's grip on parts of Damascus, but are now under fierce military pressure there, while their supply lines from neighboring Jordan and Lebanon have steadily been choked off.
DEATH TOLL TOPS 100,000
In response to Assad's gains, achieved with the support of Lebanon's pro-Iranian Hezbollah fighters who spearheaded the assault on Qusair, Western and Arab nations pledged at the weekend to send urgent military aid to the rebels.Hezbollah's involvement has highlighted the increasingly sectarian dynamic in the Syrian conflict. Hezbollah and Tehran back Assad, whose Alawite minority is an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam, while Sunni Muslim states such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have stepped up support for the mainly Sunni rebels.Radical Sunni militants from abroad, some of them linked to al Qaeda, are also coming in to fight alongside the rebels.Jordan's King Abdullah said the war could ignite conflict across the Middle East unless global powers helped to convene peace talks soon."It has become clear to all that the Syrian crisis may extend from being a civil war to a regional and sectarian conflict...the extent of which is unknown," the monarch told Asharq al-Awsat newspaper in an interview."It is time for a more serious Arab and international coordination to stop the deterioration of the Syrian crisis. The situation cannot wait any longer," he added. But prospects for proposed "Geneva 2" peace talks look bleak. Talks on Tuesday between the United States and Russia, which support opposing sides in Syria, produced no agreement on who should attend the conference or when it should be held.Saudi Arabia, which views Shi'ite Iran as its arch-rival, has stepped up aid to Syrian rebels in recent months, supplying anti-aircraft missiles among other weapons.
"Syria is facing a double-edged attack. It is facing genocide by the government and an invasion from outside the government," Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said on Tuesday. "(It) is facing a massive flow of weapons to aid and abet that invasion and that genocide. This must end."The Observatory, which monitors violence through a network of security and medical sources in Syria, said the death toll from two years of conflict had risen above 100,000 - making it by far the deadliest of the uprisings to have swept the region.
It said the figure included 18,000 rebel fighters and about 40,000 soldiers and pro-Assad militiamen. But the true number of combatants killed was likely to be double that due to both sides' secrecy in reporting casualties, it said.In addition to the casualties, it said, 10,000 people had been detained by pro-Assad forces and 2,500 soldiers and loyalist militiamen had been captured by the rebels. The United Nations has put the death toll from the 27-month-old conflict at 93,000 by the end of April. The violence has fuelled instability and sectarian tensions in Syria's neighbors, particularly Iraq and Lebanon. At least 40 people were killed this week in the Lebanese city of Sidon in clashes between the army and gunmen loyal to a firebrand Sunni cleric who backs the Syrian rebels and has urged Sunnis to challenge Hezbollah's military might in Lebanon.
On Wednesday, unidentified attackers stabbed at least five passengers on a bus carrying Syrians in Beirut, security sources said. None of the victims was seriously wounded, they said.(For an interactive look at the Syrian uprising - http://link.reuters.com/rut37s)(Editing by Alistair Lyon)

Mursi to make his move as Egypt protests loom

By Alastair Macdonald and Shadia Nasralla
CAIRO (Reuters) - President Mohamed Mursi will speak to the Egyptian people on Wednesday in a televised address that could determine his political survival as millions prepare to rally to demand his removal this weekend.Fears of a showdown in the streets between Mursi's Islamist supporters and a broad coalition of the disaffected have led people to stock up on food. Long lines of cars outside fuel stations have snarled roads in Cairo and other cities. The army and police are preparing to contain any trouble, adding men and barriers around important public buildings. The government promises to allow peaceful protests but many fear that, with huge crowds, any trouble could spin out of control. The army has warned politicians it could effectively take charge again if they fail to reconcile. Some in the anti-Mursi camp might welcome that, but Islamists say they would fight any "coup" against Egypt's first freely elected leader.Mursi, who marks his first year in office on Sunday, has given no hint of the contents of what aides called an "important speech". It is due to start around 9:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. EDT) at a Cairo hall before an invited audience. Some speculate he may reshuffle his cabinet to try to defuse the anger against him. Some observers fear Egypt may be about to erupt again, two years after the revolution that ousted Hosni Mubarak. Politics are polarized between Mursi's disciplined Muslim Brotherhood and disparate opponents who have lost a series of elections.
The deadlock has contributed to a deepening economic crisis and the government is running out of cash.
Washington has urge Mursi to bring the opposition into the political process and to press ahead with economic reforms.Liberal critics worry about Islamist rule - a coalition of local human rights groups accused Mursi's Muslim Brotherhood on Wednesday of crimes rivaling Mubarak's and of setting up a "religious, totalitarian state". But many Egyptians are simply frustrated by falling living standards and fear chaos.
Lining up at a bank machine in downtown Cairo, IT trainer Amgad al-Fishawi, 40, said he feared cash could be hard to find in the coming days and echoed the resignation felt by many at the deadlock: "Mursi won't promise too much," he said. "Nobody's paying attention. The people don't expect anything from him."
ARMY ALERT
The army is held in high regard by Egyptians, especially since it pushed aside Mubarak following the 2011 uprising. Its chief issued a warning on Sunday, urging compromise while also defending the legitimacy of Mursi's election. One senior Western diplomat in Cairo said the army might try to impose a solution, especially if the political deadlock turns violent: "The margin for a political solution is definitely very narrow," he said. "If (violence) crosses a certain threshold, the role of the army might become by default more proactive."Islamists, oppressed for decades, fear a return of military rule and hardliners warn of a fight if the generals intervene. They accuse Mubarak-era institutions, including courts, state media, police and civil service, of working to undermine Mursi. An officer in one of Egypt's internal security agencies told Reuters this week that the country needed to be "cleansed" of the Islamists who he described as terrorists. He said that the protest rallies could be the trigger for change. The army, still heavily funded by Washington as it was under Mubarak, and Western governments have been urging Mursi to bridge differences with his non-Islamist opponents. He says he has tried. They say he and his Muslim Brotherhood, along with harder line allies, are trying to monopolize the state.Mursi says a petition demanding he quit - which liberal organizers say has 15 million signatures - is undemocratic. In that, he has support from Islamists, who have staged shows of strength in recent days and plan a major Cairo rally on Friday.Nationwide opposition rallies, are due to start on Sunday but could begin earlier.
LOW EXPECTATIONS
"This demonstration is spontaneous and comes from the Egyptian people. We hope that it will bring the government ultimately to a place where the reforms are effected and choices that need to be made about the economy are implemented," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
"We will obviously hope that it will not produce violence and be a moment of catalyzing positive change for Egypt itself."The opposition have low expectations of the speech which Mursi appears to be planning to make in front of a partisan crowd. Liberal activists plan to watch it on a screen in Cairo's Tahrir Square, where the revolt against Mubarak began in January 2011.Liberal coalition spokesman Khaled Dawoud said: "He missed several opportunities in the past to build bridges with the Egyptian people. At this point, it's too late for any possible measures, short of early elections, to stop the demonstrations."Dawoud likened Mursi's address to speeches made by Mubarak during the revolt. The army eased him aside after 18 days and took power itself until Mursi took office on June 30 last year.Among criticisms of Mursi, a less than charismatic speaker who became the Brotherhood's presidential candidate as a last-minute stand-in, is that he has turned for support to harder line Islamist groups, including former militants. The lynching of five Shi'ite Muslims on Sunday revived fears among minorities, including Egypt's several million Christians, and has been used by the opposition to portray Mursi as tolerant of an extremist Sunni Muslim fringe.(Reporting by Shaimaa Fayed, Patrick Werr, Asmaa Alsharif, Tom Perry, Maggie Fick, Yasmine Saleh, Omar Fahmy, Alastair Macdonald, Alexander Dziadosz and Shadia Nasralla in Cairo; Writing by Alastair Macdonald; editing by Janet McBride; Editing by Philippa Fletcher)

Rotting corpses spark fears of epidemic amid India floods

By Nita Bhalla
NEW DELHI, June 26 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Rotting corpses contaminating water sources and poor sanitation amid devastating floods in northern India could lead to a serious outbreak of diseases such as cholera and dysentery, aid groups warned on Wednesday. The floods, triggered by heavy monsoon rains more than 10 days ago, have killed at least 822 people in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand and forced tens of thousands from their homes. Officials say the death toll may cross 1,000 and thousands are still reported missing.Authorities have so far been focusing on rescuing thousands of pilgrims who visit the region for its sacred Hindu temples and shrines, but aid agencies, struggling to get past roads choked by landslides to local villagers, warned of another disaster unfolding in form of an outbreak of diseases.Aid workers said they were concerned that a combination of heavy rains and corpses lying out in the open would contaminate streams and rivers."We are getting reports from the field that there are rotting bodies lying around, many of them semi-buried in soil and rubble that came down from the mountains," said Zubin Zaman, Humanitarian Manager for Oxfam India, which is working in Rudraprayag, one of the worst affected districts."There are also carcasses of livestock in rivers and streams and this has, of course, contaminated so many of their water sources. But people are desperate and are being forced to consume water they wouldn't otherwise."
Zaman said he was concerned of outbreaks of water-borne diseases such as cholera, diarrhea and dysentery, adding that he had received reports that 400 people were admitted to a medical camp in Sonprayag. The disaster - the worst floods India has witnessed since 2008 when around 500 died in the eastern state of Bihar - has swept away buildings, washed away farmland and destroyed major roads and bridges. The floods and landslides have been dubbed a "Himalayan tsunami" by the Indian media due to the torrents of water unleashed in the hilly region, which sent mud crashing down, burying homes and other buildings.Heavy rains over the last two days have hampered rescue operations by the army and air force who have been air lifting survivors marooned in and around the four temple towns of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri since June 15.Television channels broadcast dramatic pictures of desperate pilgrims scrambling to get aboard dozens of military helicopters which have been ferrying people to safety. Around 96,500 people have so far been evacuated by land and air, according to media reports. An air force rescue helicopter crashed on Tuesday, killing 20 people on board. The air force said the helicopter was delivering wood for the mass cremation of bodies found in and around the temple town of Kedarnath.(Editing by Nick Macfie)

UN sounds alarm on widespread designer drug use

VIENNA (AP) — VIENNA — The U.N. drug control agency on Wednesday sounded the alarm on the spread of designer drugs, which are sold openly and produce legal but sometimes deadly highs, while reporting that global drug use generally remains stable.Such substances "can be far more dangerous than traditional drugs," the agency said in a statement accompanying its annual report. "Street names, such as 'spice,' 'meow-meow' and 'bath salts' mislead young people into believing that they are indulging in low-risk fun."A six-page summary of the report by the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime warned that "the international drug control system is foundering, for the first time, under the speed and creativity" of their proliferation.
It said countries worldwide reported 251 such substances by mid-2012, compared with 166 at the end of 2009. The problem, said the report, is "hydra-headed" in that as fast as governments ban the drugs, manufacturers produce new variants.Nearly 5 percent of European Union residents aged between 15 and 24 have already experimented with such drugs, said the report. In the United States, 158 kinds of synthetic drugs were circulating during 2012, more than twice as many as in the EU, and use was growing in East and Southeast Asia, including China, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.Gil Kerlikowske, director of the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy, said the United States faces "continuing challenges with prescription drug abuse and new synthetic drugs." But he also noted successes, saying on the sidelines of a meeting in Vienna for the report's launch that U.S. cocaine use has decreased by 50 percent since 2006, due in part to better drug education and increased amounts seized. In a statement accompanying the organization's 151-page report, UNODC head Yury Fedotov said that while drug use and production overall appears to be stable in recent years, illicit drug consumption still kills around 200,000 people each year. However, the office lowered its estimate of the number of people injecting drugs and those living with the HIV virus worldwide because of such injections. It said 14 million people between the ages of 16 and 65 inject drugs and of those, 1.6 million have the virus as a result of such injections — 12 percent and 46 percent less respectively than last estimated five years ago.In other findings, the agency reported:
— heroin and opium use remains steady at around 16.4 million people, or 0.4 percent of the world's adult population.
—heroin use appears to be declining in Europe, with users aging and because of more efficient drug seizures.
—cocaine use, although still rare, appears to be growing in China and Hong Kong as shown by seizures of the drug, apparently reflecting the growth of a more affluent society.
—U.S. cocaine use fell by 40 percent between 2006 and 2011, due in part to less production in Colombia, more efficient law enforcement and disruptive turf wars among drug cartels.
—seizures of "amphetamine-type" drugs rose by 66 percent in 2011 compared with the year before, to 123 tons.
—the use of "ecstasy," one such drug, is declining globally but appears to be growing in Europe.

Pope sets up Pontifical Commission to study IOR reform

Vatican InsIder Staff Rome The Pope wants to get right to the bottom of the Vatican Bank’s affairs: He wants to be informed in person about all its activities and receive copies of documents regarding all problem areas. He feels the urgent need to face the Vatican Bank’s problems head on, in order to allow the Gospel’s principles to permeate into economic and financial activities. Francis has issued a document setting up a special commission with broad powers, which will have the task of carrying out an in-depth inquiry into the legal position and the activities of the Institute for Religious Works.

This is an innovative decision and follows on directly from Benedict XVI’s work on transparency in the Vatican Bank : the commission answers directly to the Pope. All IOR offices and staff and the Roman Curia are called to work together without divulging confidential information concerning the bank and its operations. Those who feel they have something to say or information to give are expressly and explicitly invited to do so.The commission is composed of five members but others can be added if needed and external collaborators can assist in its work as well. Cardinal Raffaele Farina is charing the commission and members include: Cardinal Jean-Luis Tauran and Professor Mary Ann Glendon. Archbishop Juan Ignacio Arrietais the co-ordinator and the Assessor for General Affairs of the Secretariat of State, Monsignor Peter Brian Wells.
The IOR is not therefore being placed under the administration o fan external commissioner, nor are any changes being made to the internal governance equilibrium. Before going ahead with any potential reforms, Francis wants to know everything  there is to know about the IOR. The new Pope’s decision is important because he obviously did not rely blindly on the media strategy of Institute’s new German president Ernst von Freyberg and his numerous interviews with the international press. Nor on the theology lessons on the things that are “essential” for the Church’s freedom, given in a surprising interview with the IOR’s Director General, Paolo Cipriani.Progress has been made in the field of transparency. But it is not enough. The motu proprio seems almost like an invitation to not to go making announcements and decisions without consulting the Pope first.
