EU TOP 5 CALL FOR ARMY HEADQUARTERS

DOCTOR DOCTORIAN FROM ANGEL OF GOD
then the angel said, Financial crisis will come to Asia. I will shake the world.

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

REVELATION 13:16-18
16 And he(FALSE POPE) causeth all,(WORLD SOCIALISM) both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:(CHIP IMPLANT)
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.(6-6-6) A NUMBER SYSTEM

NY Times Op-Ed: Lambs to the slaughter
September 5, 2011 By Director By Douglas J. Hagmann

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BRxcTRoFkc
http://www.al-rassooli.com/blog/

It is perhaps the most disturbing op-ed ever published in any American newspaper. I am referring to the editorial titled Don’t Fear Islamic Law in America, written by Eliyahu Stern, Ph.D published on September 2, 2011 in The New York Times.Contrary to the opinion of Mr. Stern, there is much to fear about the implementation of Sharia law in America. To assert otherwise is to display an unforgivable ignorance of undisputed facts or to be deliberately disingenuous. In either case, it is perilous to accept as fact the assertions of Mr. Stern, individually or collectively as a nation. The essence of his thesis is that Islamic Sharia law is facing a crusade in America, which he claims undermines American democracy, ignores our country’s history of religious tolerance and assimilation, and creates a dangerous divide between America and its fastest-growing religious minority. He also denies that Sharia poses any threat to American security by using a completely inappropriate analogy involving Napoleon’s European empire and Jewish laws. The analogy is ridiculous and his arguments specious as rabbinical laws did not – and do not – impose their laws outside of the Jewish people. By its very nature, however, Sharia law imposes Islamic jurisprudence on Muslims and non-Muslims alike.Sharia law is the legal framework based on Islamic principles of jurisprudence. It cannot be separated from Islam and regulates not only the behavior of Muslims, but non-Muslims as well. In Islamic theocracies, Sharia is the law of the land. There can be no separation of church (mosque) and state. In Islamic theocracies, everyone is subjected to the same set of highly discriminatory, cruel and barbaric Islamic laws, although the legal bias is always in favor of the “believer,” or Muslim. Among Muslims, Sharia is biased toward men. For example, women are considered to be just a rung above a domesticated animal and are oppressed beyond Western comprehension. Sharia calls for the execution of apostates, the stoning of adulterers, and the chopping off of a person’s hand if that person is convicted of stealing.

Thinking of leaving Islam?

It is therefore incomprehensible that Mr. Stern proposes that anti-Shariah legislation in the U.S. would serve to foster a hostile environment that will stymie the growth of America’s tolerant strand of Islam. There exists no America(n) tolerant strand of Islam. It is a myth of the perverse progressive or liberal mindset. Islam is inherently intolerant as is its way,or Sharia. No organized system of laws, religious or secular, is more intolerant than Sharia as proven by the obscenely barbaric practices of Islamic theocracies. For the survival of our nation, therefore, it is imperative that Sharia is never permitted to exist in this country.
In non-Muslim countries, Sharia law also cannot be separated from Islam. Accordingly and unlike the apples and oranges comparison used by Mr. Stern, Sharia law cannot coexist or be equal to any other codified laws of a non Islamic theocracy. In America, for example, the Constitution, federal statutes, state and local laws must be subjugated by Sharia law and imposed on all people, including non-Muslims. And therein lies the insidious nature of Sharia law and the dangers it poses to Western culture.Note to my readers: It has never been more important than to understand Islam. The best resource available is at this link, which is a website dedicated to educating the public about Islam, Islam and democracy, Sharia and Islam in current events. Spanish commissioner lashes out at core eurozone states Today SEPT 9,11 @ 09:18 By Leigh Phillips

Spain’s European commissioner has lashed out at core eurozone states in the wake of suggestions from the Netherlands and Germany that heavily indebted members of the single currency could be booted out of the club. There are member states, in particularly some of the most powerful - Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Austria - who feel that they don't have this kind of problem, said Joaquin Almunia, the EU executive’s competition commissioner. These wealthier states feel that they don't need to make an additional effort to compensate the lack of resources of the countries who have the most difficulties to reduce imbalances, he continued, according to a report from AFP.Since the start of the eurozone crisis, Finland, Austria, the Netherlands and Germany, all triple-A-rated states, have consistently held to a hawkish line on austerity and demands on peripheral eurozone countries who did not benefit from the creation of the single currency to the same extent as the core. Most recently, on Wednesday, the Hague and Berlin mooted the idea that if countries do not adhere to strict budget discipline, they could in extreme cases be expelled from the euro. Those who think that this hypothesis is possible just do not understand our process of integration,Almunia added, speaking in New York.European integration is the only option.Greece on Thursday was also quick to respond to the bellicose language coming from the Netherlands and Germany, insisting that the country will not leave the euro. There is no threat of Greece exiting the eurozone, government spokesman Ilias Mossialos said, according to local reports. We are proceeding with reforms quickly.Separately, France on Thursday evening approved the second bail-out package for Greece and measures strengthening the eurozone’s rescue fund. The bill approving an agreement reached between European premiers and presidents on 21 July this year won support from the governing right-wing UMP of President Nicolas Sarkozy while the opposition Socialists abstained. The far left voted against the measures.

Also on Thursday, Germany’s Bundestag initiated its debate on the strengthening of the eurozone rescue fund, the European Financial Stability Fund. Berlin is expected to vote on the wider package of measures on 29 September.Meanwhile, the European Central Bank announced it was to keep interest rates unchanged at 1.5 percent as a result of what the bank’s president, Jean-Claude Trichet, described as particularly high uncertainty and intensified downside risks to the European economy. His words were also echoed on Thursday in a gloomy warning from the OECD that declared the world to be on the brink of a second recession and that the eurozone crisis was in danger of worsening.Growth is turning out to be much slower than we thought three months ago and the risk of hitting patches of negative growth going forward has gone up, said OECD chief Economist Pier Carlo Padoan. The eurozone will see 1.4 percent growth in the third quarter before dropping to just 0.4 percent in the final stretch of the year. The zone’s main economic engine, Germany, will see growth of 2.6 percent in the third quarter, according to the OECD, before sliding to 1.4 percent in the fourth quarter.

EU moots greater role in deals with oil-rich countries 08.09.11 @ 09:21 By Valentina Pop

The European Commission on Wednesday suggested it should negotiate strategic energy contracts with other countries on behalf of the whole EU and have a greater say when countries strike bilateral deals with Russia. The EU imports 80 percent of its oil (Paul Lowry)If we speak on one voice, we get a completely different weight, so that the divide-and-rule principle will no longer be successful for other countries, EU energy commissioner Guenther Oettinger said during a press briefing outlining the proposal.Pending approval by member states and the European Parliament, the external energy policy draft would require all EU member states to provide information on existing and negotiating agreements in all areas, not only oil and gas. This would apply to private companies as well, so long as they are part of an inter-governmental agreement - for instance BP bidding for a gas exploitation in Russia.

The commission would have an observer-adviser status in the negotiation process and respect confidentiality rules towards other member states if needed, he explained.
Currently, EU states have to notify the commission only after they concluded gas supply agreements with other countries, including Russia which is the biggest exporter to the EU.Presenting it as advantageous for Moscow as well, since it would avoid painful court cases for breaches of EU competition law, Oettinger noted that Poland had already approached his services for advice and legal expertise during negotiations on the Yamal gas pipeline from Russia. This doesn't mean the European Commission will be at the negotiation table in all negotiations or reviewing all existing agreements - that would be overly bureaucratic. But when it's about the security of supply and could jeopardise open competition in the internal market - there we want to be active, offer legal opinion early in the proceedings,he said. The proposal would also allow the EU to strike deals for instance with Tunisia, Egypt or Libya not only to secure oil supplies, but also to provide solar energy.

Democracy.
The democratic credentials of the supplier countries will not be a factor when the EU strikes deals.I don't think we can require higher ethical rules than we can actually expect. If we say we're going to treat only with countries which are full democracies, we may as well just park our car in the garage,Oettinger quipped. But he insisted that energy can help bring about structural change, more democracy, market economy and human rights.Current events, however, have proven the contrary. In oil-rich Libya, a 42-year-long dictatorship based on revenues from this fossil fuel is now coming to an end after six months of fighting and Nato airstrikes. It's true across the whole raw materials sector, particularly in the case of gas and oil, most countries we get these products from don't have the same degree of democracy or market economy and respect for the rule of law we're familiar with. Take China, need I say more? the German politician admitted. He suggested that a democratically elected post-Gaddafi government should focus not only on oil revenues, but also solar power and energy efficiency.Commenting on the draft bill, European Parliament chief Jerzy Buzek, said an energy market was just as important as creating the single market in 1992.He singled out the requirement to exchange information about bilateral deals as a step towards joint purchasing and said that the EU negotiating deals for large infrastructure projects will become ever more necessary.Centre-right Polish MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski told this website that the initiative improves current rules on how to strike energy deals with other countries. We need information on the structure of energy relations of the member states with third countries in order to develop a comprehensive energy diplomacy,he said.Others were more critical. British Conservative MEP Giles Chichester, who specialises in energy issues, slammed it as the worst kind of meddling, voicing concern over confidentiality and commercial rules. Our energy arrangements are Britain's own business, not the commission's. This is an attempt to control and interfere with our individual trading interests on a new and deeply worrying scale. The commission is up to its old empire-building tricks,he said.

US calls for more forceful action to save the euro
Today SEPT 9,11 @ 08:34 By EUOBSERVER

Europe needs to take more forceful action to generate confidence that it can and will resolve its crisis,US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner said Thursday. This requires governments working together and alongside the European Central Bank in an unequivocal commitment to support Europe's financial system,he added.

German debate considers north and south eurozone
Today SEPT 9,11 @ 08:33 By EUOBSERVER

A southern euro would allow Mediterranean countries to devaluate the currency and borrow money at lower costs, while bailouts should be renationalised - each country should pay on its own, writes Hans-Olaf Henkel, former chief of the German industry association. His op-ed was published Friday in several German newspapers.

Group of five calls for EU military headquarters
Today SEPT 9,11 @ 09:28 By Andrew Rettman

Five of the biggest EU countries have tasked foreign relations chief Catherine Ashton with making plans for an EU military command centre despite British objections.Foreign ministers from the group - France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Spain - in a letter dated 2 September and seen by EUobserver urged Ashton to: Examine all institutional and legal options available to member states, inlcuding permanent structred co-operation, to develop critical CSDP [Common Security and Defence Policy] capabilities, notably a permanent planning and conduct capability.
They added: We would appreciate if you present conclusions of the work ... in early autumn with a view to achieving tangible results by the end of the year.Permanent structred co-operation is an EU treaty option that allows nine or more member states to press ahead on an EU project without the others. It was first used earlier this year on EU divorce and patent laws.Setting up a non-EU-27 command hub for EU military missions would be a major step toward what EU jargon calls a multi-speed Europe. But plans afoot to create joint economic governance among the 17 euro-using countries are likely to put even the military project into the shade. The letter justified the plan by reference to the Arab Spring and the economic crisis.

Instability and the proliferation of crises on the one side, and scarcity of resources on the other side, have significantly raised expectations as to the effectiveness and credibility of EU actions,it said. The ministers added that EU talks in July proved there is a strong politicl will to go ahead. The initiative is a long-cherished one by Poland and France, which wants to go beyond EU battlegroups - temporary teams of troops from two or three EU countries ready to be sent to hot-spots at short notice - toward an EU army.It comes after the conflict in Libya showed that the US, individual EU countries such as France and the UK, as well as Nato, pitch the EU into the background in the case of war.Ashton drew up a hybrid EU military-humanitarian mission - Eufor Libya - but the project never got off the ground. The US has in the past said it wants the EU to do more in managing world crises. But the group of five risk angering the UK, the EU's biggest military spender, which forcefully criticised the idea in July.I have made very clear that the United Kingdom will not agree to a permanent operational HQ. We will not agree to it now and we will not agree to it in the future. That is a red line,UK foreign miniser William Hague said at the time. Duplicating Nato structures is a waste of money he added.

Chinese yuan to be convertible with euro by 2015
08.09.11 @ 09:30 By Valentina Pop

China is seeking to make its currency fully convertible by 2015, officials said in Beijing, a move which may help the ailing euro and dollar, which are losing against an under-valuated yuan.China aims at making the yuan a reserve currency like the euro (EUobserver.com)Chinese officials told the EU business community in Beijing that the yuan will achieve full convertibility by 2015, Davide Cucino, the head of the EU's chamber of commerce in China said in a press conference on Wednesday (8 September). We were told by those officials by 2015, Cucino said, as quoted by the Bloomberg news agency. The process will be a gradual one, he added.A similar timeline is being floated by Asian currency experts as well. It's not beyond imagination that the renminbi could become fairly, if not fully, convertible in the next five years, Monish Mahurkar from the Asian Development Bank said during a conference in Hong Kong, Dow Jones reports.Currently, the Chinese yuan (RMB - remnibi) is held within strict margins by the People’s Bank of China, which sets a rate each morning around which the currency can trade. This policy has for a long time prompted criticism from Europe and the US that the remnibi is under-valued, hurting European exports, among others.China, the second-largest economy in the world, also limits conversion of the yuan for investment purposes. But by 2015, this may change, allowing the remnibi to become a reserve currency alongside the US dollar and the euro.Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan is due to meet British chancellor George Osborne on Thursday in London. According to the Financial Times, Wang will back efforts by British banks to establish a yuan offshore trading center in London’s financial district.

Chinese ratings agency

Meanwhile, China’s Dagong ratings agency put forward plans to expand on an international level and strengthen ties with the world’s three largest graders of debt - Standard & Poor's, Moody's and Fitch. The China Daily newspaper reported that Dagong CEO Guan Jianzhong hopes the planned new agency will obtain a leading position in the rating market within the next five years. The company will be set up branches in Europe, the US, Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, the paper said.
Founded in 1994, Dagong has already had co-operation with overseas ratings agencies in Japan, South Korea and Brazil. On 3 August, Dagong cut its sovereign rating for the US by one notch to A, on a par with Russia and South Africa. Two days later, Standard & Poor's followed suit, cutting America's triple-A rating to AA+ and causing a storm on financial markets.EU officials have repeatedly criticised the quasi-monopoly of US ratings agencies, whose scathing assessments of euro-countries' capacity to pay back their debt has inflamed markets and contributed to the skyrocketing debt costs for Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain. But Dagong has made similar moves, even as it maintains higher ratings for the euro-countries than the big three.Following the 21 July deal on a second Greek bail-out, Dagong said that the new rescue plan is expected to prevent Greece from unilateral default by 2014, but the solvency of the state thereafter is still not encouraging. But it welcomed the agreed changes to the eurozone bail-out fund (EFSF), saying that if approved, the measures will enhance the ongoing credit ratings of other members in the eurozone.

Obama intent – Destroy America
By LAURIE ROTH, on September 8th, 2011

Clarity, evidence and knowledge apparently mean nothing to most of our media, political leaders and elite. Most already know, from entry level to the big boys we all listen to and watch, that Obama is not Constitutionally eligible to be President. Most also know by now that on April 27th, 2011, Obama presented a proven forgery of a long form birth certificate to the media and nation. Doug Vogt, a 29 year veteran, document examiner analyzed the presented document Obama showed thoroughly. He quickly signed an affidavit declaring it a total fraud and forgery and registered a 25 page complaint with the FBI. Last I checked showing a forgery to the public and using false documentation is a felony. Gee, does anyone see a little problem here???Our President has spent nearly 2 million dollars hiding documents about his passport, College records and Birth certificate www.obamacrimes.com. In a fabulous article on this critical violation, Lawrence Sellin reminds us also about other Obama breaches and controversies such as his Selective Service registration and using a Social Security Number not issued to him.

Most in our media and the wanna be GOP messiahs call the elegability folks names, waste of time we have bigger fish to fry and we are annoying. While the blood letting continues, we have a usurper in the White House who has committed a federal crime on April 27th by showing a forged birth certificate. Obama has revealed his original intent in his own books and well before he was elected President. He is a redistribution of wealth, Marxist/communist.Obama’s intent is quite clear by his words, actions, history and associations. He wants two classes of people, the international ruling class, headed by him and the worker bee surfs who obey. To create a devoted sea of surfs, he must throw his followers enough bones that they think he is their savior and messiah. He must also seduce them into the fabricated cause. This means giving up their money and assets to the Government so they can allegedly fix the desperate problems that Obama’s regime has created in the first place. While the frustration and anger builds with the people due to unemployment, financial ruin and endless foreclosures, rage is trained to focus on a new list of enemies, the Tea Party, congress and conservative groups. The goal is to create enough chaos, diversions and enemies that America crumbles economically, religiously, financially and politically.Don’t you find it amazing how several Representatives, Vice President Biden and Obama have called the Tea Party every name in the book. You know, they want black people to hang from trees, are terrorists, racists, anti American and hostage takers. I guess these sorry freaks can go straight to hell. That about covers it. The hope is that we all start viewing patriot groups and Tea Party folks as those wanting to create race wars and hurt our country. Evil, I tell you. The truth is exactly the opposite. They represent a broad tapestry of America, Black, White, Hispanic, Republican, Democrat, Independent and represent many religions. They have never been about destroying our Government and country. Instead they are protective of freedom, our constitution, common sense values and accountability, all of which are the enemies to Obama and his minions. The battle lines have been drawn and the revolution is on. Don’t back down. Don’t believe the lies and vote Obama out of the White House in 2012. Finally, listen in each day www.therothshow.com and join the Roth Revolution and make your voice heard.

9/11 – Sovereign to international – Christian to secular By LAURIE ROTH on September 7th, 2011

Obama says he looks to heal on the 9/11 attacks. His apparent plan for this is to insult every American on 9/11. Naturally he must continue his strategy and theme…..insult, attack and destroy America. He plans to place the emphasis and focus of this historical attack on the USA to the world. You see, Al Kae Da attacked everyone, every country and all religions, not the USA. Apparently that must be why Mayor Bloomberg, Obama’s worldly kiss up boy is refusing to have prayer at a memorial service he has planned for that day. He has wiped out the critical role of prayer that literally held the American people together that horrifying day. Even congress stepped outside in front of the cameras praying to God for help that day. Obama is starting in the madness and manipulation of 9/11 already. America wasn’t attacked, it was the world and its religions. All were attacked accept Christians, since their prayers are excluded at these 9/11 events.

Interestingly, even first responders are excluded from the 9/11 ceremony. Bloomberg with all his glorious wisdom says the reason for that is lack of room. That would be 3,000 more seats they would have to find. Obama’s saying the attack on 9/11 was against the international community instead of America is like your neighbor sharing about his shoulder pain in response to the recent amputation of both your legs. Not only is this non empathetic, but insensitive and plain stupid.
The attacks from Islamic radicals around the world have been against many countries and people however, mostly against Jews, Christians and the west. Their stated goal has been to establish a worldwide caliphate. Their own holy books say the infidels (you and I) have only 3 choices, a) be forced to convert to Islam b) pay an enslaved tax c) be killed. Even with Islamic Jihadists everywhere, scheming all kinds of attacks, 9/11 was an attack on the United States of America not the world.
If Obama wants to encourage national healing for that day, he won’t do it by minimizing and re-compartmentalizing our pain. It was OUR pain on 9/11, not the worlds. It was at the hands of fundamentalist Islam, not Christians and Jews. To pretend this horrifying attack was a universalist proposition and that Christian prayers are not to be observed is not only shameful, it is a national insult which only carries the legacy of insults from this President onward.

Obama's vision of America was shaped by Marxist anti-colonialism, radical philosophy of unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, avarice of predatory financier George Soros and the corrupt politics of the Chicago machine-Obama’s ineligibility: Prepare to defend America – Throw Obama under the bus- Lawrence Sellin Friday, September 9, 2011-CANADA FREE PRESS

In his speech to a joint session of Congress, Barack Hussein Obama did not present a jobs plan; he left a suicide note.Obama and the Democrats are in the final stages of a self-destruct sequence, while Republicans passively sit by America’s deathbed like Dr. Kevorkian.Regarding the situation in which we find ourselves, no one should be surprised. Obama never shared the experience and values of ordinary Americans. His vision of America was shaped by Marxist anti-colonialism, the radical philosophy of unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers, the avarice of predatory financier George Soros and the corrupt politics of the Chicago machine.Obama, his mentors and acolytes seek not a strong, prosperous and free America, but a weak, fragmented, subservient and pitiful remnant as his testament to and trophy of the last gasp of Western democracy.
And the entire American political establishment is helping him do it.Like Obama, the Democrats and Republicans have come to see the Constitution and the rule of law as impediments to their ownership of the US Government, the maintenance of their permanent political power and their acquisition of wealth plundered from the American taxpayer. The political establishment knows that Obama is an illegal President, has a stolen Social Security Number and has forged his birth documents and Selective Service registration.

They will do nothing.

By exposing Obama, the political establishment would expose their own complicity in the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. So, to protect their personal power and wealth, they will ignore any questions about Obama’s crimes and suppress any attempt by ordinary Americans like the Tea Party to make government officials accountable to the people. We have an elective dictatorship, where, for people like Nancy Pelosi, elections are disagreeable formalities to maintain them as politicians-for-life.Unfortunately for the political establishment, Obama and his team of ideological nitwits keep committing blunder after blunder, Americans are getting angrier by the minute and the politicians’ lucrative gravy train of tax dollars and borrowed cash are about to dry up.How can they get rid of Obama without him unleashing violent flash mobs, Black Panthers, radical leftist and union thugs on the general public? And how do they get rid of him without their complicity in the fraud being exposed? Those are the questions that most concern the political establishment, not the economy, not the debt, not the terrorists and certainly not the Constitution and the rule of law, both of which they swore oaths to uphold. It is all about them; their never-ending greed and their insatiable lust for power.Up until now, the political establishment had decided to let Obama run in 2012 and get beaten by an establishment Republican, preferably a Republican-in-name-only.The Democrats may take a hit, but most of them will survive. The Republicans can continue pretending to be an opposition party and all that nasty Obama business can be buried and forgotten without any disruption in the political status quo and the looting of the country.Sadly for the political establishment, the American people will not let them bury all that nasty Obama business because it would also mean burying our Constitution and endorsing permanent corruption in our government.Soon the American people will force the political establishment to realize that Obama is now shovel ready.

Saving America from Marxism-The only newly created jobs is the one called Saving America - Judi McLeod Friday, September 9, 2011

In the art of politics, image is everything. The image that transcends even the applauding Congress seals at Obama’s Pass this Jobs Bill Now speech last night is the one of his holiday-loving, shopaholic wife Michelle sitting there right beside organized labor leader AFL-CIO top dog Richard Trumka.Make that sitting right there beside Trumka, a bare three days after Teamster President Jimmy Hoffa reminded her Community Organizer husband: This is your army. We are ready to march. Let’s take these son of a ##### out and give America back to an America where we belong. And President Obama, we want one thing: jobs, jobs, jobs…To latter day trade union heavies, feathering their own nests and politics always push jobs to the And category. The little Michelle/Trumka vignette of last night is a perfect picture of America under Obama control.Joint Congress charades and hype notwithstanding, people know that government and trade unions do not supply jobs. They take them away. Especially since the Obama Regime came into power. With nothing new to say almost three years in, is it any wonder why Internet news on Obama’s Pass this jobs bill has been scarce? Even as Obama was waxing concerned, millions were in the dark in a massive Southwest power outage, floods were forcing 100,000 to evacuate from New York to Maryland. Legions more had the sound turned down on their televisions waiting for the much more compelling football game. But as National Journal reported last night: His package, a $447 billion mix of tax cuts and spending, is not as big or bold as his liberal allies wanted. It’s not even quite what Obama’s own economic advisers believe is necessary to put more than a modest dent in the 9 percent unemployment rate.

Obama never mentioned the cost of the package—perhaps knowing that he’ll be lucky to win passage of anything close to the $447 billion total—but went into agonizing detail about who might benefit from the plan. Teachers, cops, veterans, school children, small-business men and many more were name-dropped by Obama with the refrain: Pass this bill and…somebody cool will get or make a job.Obama coupled his pleas for action with a call to the 12-member super committee set up last month by last month’s debt deal to come up with additional spending cuts to pay for the measures in his American Jobs Act, which includes $253 billion in tax cuts and $194 billion in spending.Last night’s job speech was a forced-audience campaign kickoff—complete with standing ovations before Obama even began his drone. If folk listened hard enough they could even hear the Quebec-made black buses revving up to take Obama and his Jobs Now Speech out state-by-state to the hustings. (Flying on Airforce 1) to catch up to the blacked out-window vehicles carrying handlers and media to the chosen state of the day. There was no mention of the three-day hence 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks which will be marked without mention of God or the presence of Christian clerics on Sunday. Nor of the credible terror threat around the 9/11 anniversary.Meanwhile, just as no one knows where the money from Stimulus went, no one knows whether if even a penny from Obama’s $447 billion package will be spent on a single job.But as certain as the sun will rise over the fruited plain this morning, Obama did provide millions of unintended jobs for out-of-work Americans. It’s called The job of Saving America.

STORMS HURRICANES-TORNADOES

LUKE 21:25-26
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity;(MASS CONFUSION) the sea and the waves roaring;(FIERCE WINDS)
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

THE FIRST JUDGEMENT OF THE EARTH STARTED WITH WATER-IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THE LAST GENERATION WILL BE HAVING FLOODING
GENESIS 7:6-12
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
GOD PROMISED BY A RAINBOW-THE EARTH WOULD NEVER BE DESTROYED TOTALLY WITH A FLOOD AGAIN.BUT FLOODIING IS A SIGN OF JUDGEMENT.

Hurricane watch issued for parts of Mexico
AP SEPT 9,11

MIAMI – The government of Mexico has issued a hurricane watch that stretches from Tampico to Veracruz as Tropical Storm Nate meanders in the Bay of Campeche. The watch was issued Friday. The center of Nate could become a hurricane on Saturday and approach the hurricane watch area by Sunday.Tropical storm warnings and watches also were in effect for parts of Mexico's coast.Nate was moving slowly, swirling northwest at about 3 mph (5 kph). It currently had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph (105 kph) and was still about 140 miles (225 kilometers) west-northwest of Campeche, Mexico.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.Tropical Storm Maria was heading toward the Lesser Antilles on Friday in the Atlantic while Tropical Storm Nate was moving little in the Bay of Campeche off Mexico's coast.Meanwhile, rainfall from what had been Tropical Storm Lee continued inundating a wide portion of Pennsylvania and other northeastern states, leaving at least seven dead.Maria's maximum sustained winds early Friday were near 40 mph (65 kph), with some slight strengthening possible, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami. The storm was centered about 435 miles (705 kilometers) east-southeast of the Leeward Islands and moving west-northwest near 18 mph (30 kph).A tropical storm warning was in effect for a host of islands: Antigua, Anguilla, Barbuda, Montserrat, Nevis, St. Kitts, the British Virgin Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, St. Maartin, Saba and St. Eustatius.A tropical storm watch was in effect for St. Barthelemy, St. Marteen, Martinique, Dominica, and Puerto Rico including Vieques and Culebra. On its current forecast track, Maria's center would reach the Leeward Islands early Saturday and be near the Virgin Islands by Saturday night, the hurricane center said.To the west, Tropical Storm Nate prompted a tropical storm warning on Mexico's coast from Chilitepec to Celestun. A tropical storm watch was in effect from Celestun to Progreso.Nate's maximum sustained winds were near 65 mph (100 kph) and the hurricane center said the storm was expected to become a hurricane later in the day or on Saturday. Nate was centered about 115 miles (190 kilometers) west of Campeche, Mexico, and was nearly stationary early Friday. Also in the Atlantic, Hurricane Katia was moving northeast over open water after passing between the U.S. and Bermuda. Despite not hitting land, the hurricane center said large swells generated by the Category 1 storm will continue affecting the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda.Katia was centered about 395 miles (640 kilometers) north-northwest of Bermuda and was moving northeast near 24 mph (39 kph).

Days of rain trigger widespread Northeast floods AP By MARK SCOLFORO - Associated Press,MICHAEL RUBINKAM - Associated Press | AP – SEPT 9,11

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Stretches of the swollen Susquehanna River began receding Friday after days of rainfall from what had been Tropical Storm Lee flooded communities from Virginia to New York, leading to evacuation orders for nearly 100,000 people. At least 12 deaths have been blamed on Lee and its remnants. The damage was concentrated along the Susquehanna in Binghamton, N.Y., in Wilkes-Barre, where more than 70,000 people were told to evacuate, and other communities downstream in Maryland. The National Weather Service said the Susquehanna crested above 38 feet Thursday night in Wilkes-Barre — below the top of the levee system and under the levels reached after historic flooding spawned by Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

They did what was right for them, the people down there, said Tom Vaxmonsky, a resident of West Pittson, just upstream from Wilkes-Barre.But it's like everything else, for every action there's a reaction. And the reaction is that we got a lot more water than we did in '72 with the Agnes flood. The flood waters that inundated the city of Binghamton and surrounding communities were receding Friday morning, but there was no indication yet when some of the 20,000 evacuees could expect to return to their homes.Broome County Deputy Emergency Manager Raymond Serowik told The Associated Press that the Susquehanna was receding slowly and that authorities were just beginning to gain access to some areas to assess the damage from Thursday's record flooding. The mayor of Binghamton said the flooding was the worst in more than 60 years.Lee's impact was felt widely in already waterlogged Pennsylvania, as authorities closed countless roadways, including some heavily traveled interstates, and evacuation shelters were opened to serve the many displaced people. The heavy rains also shut down parts of the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County, Va., but some portions have reopened. As much as 10 inches of rain has fallen in some places in the area around Washington since Wednesday. In Maryland, most of the 1,000 residents of Port Deposit were told to evacuate after the massive Conowingo Dam, upstream on the Susquehanna, opened its spill gates, and hundreds more were told to leave their homes in Havre de Grace, where the river meets the Chesapeake Bay.Shelters were opened in Perryville and Aberdeen, with river levels projected to be their highest since Agnes. The Susquehanna was expected to crest Saturday but not at a record level.President Barack Obama declared states of emergency in Pennsylvania and New York early Friday, clearing the way for federal aid.Rose Simko was among some 75,000 residents of Wilkes-Barre and neighboring communities who left Thursday under a mandatory evacuation order. As she packed her belongings into a car and prepared to drive away from her home, which sits about 150 feet from Wilkes-Barre's levee, she said she knew she had to get out.Everything is replaceable, she said, but my life is not.Evacuees were told to expect to stay at least until Sunday or Monday, and it will be some time before officials get a handle on the damage that included a partial bridge collapse in northern Pennsylvania, vehicles and other property swept away, and failed sewage treatment plants. We're going to have some damage, but you won't know until it's over, said Wilkes-Barre Mayor Tom Leighton. The flooding was fed by drenching rains from Tropical Storm Lee that continued for days, and followed a little more than a week the dousing that Hurricane Irene gave the East Coast. In some areas of Pennsylvania the rainfall totals hit 9 inches or more, on top of what was already a relatively wet summer.People in many small towns and rural areas in central Pennsylvania scrambled to get their families and their belongings out of harm's way as waters sometimes rose with frightening speed. In West Pittston, unprotected by the levees, several hundred homes were under water — many to the second floor, said former Mayor Bill Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy's own home was among those inundated.

It was the same story downriver in Plymouth Township, where floodwater swamped about 80 businesses and houses.Further down the Susquehanna River in Bloomsburg, flood waters topped the height reached by Hurricane Agnes in 1972 and were expected to crest just short of the record set by a 1904 flood.Harrisburg evacuated 6,000 to 10,000 residents in low-lying areas, while in Luzerne County, Pa., which includes Wilkes-Barre, the evacuation order covered all communities along the Susquehanna River that were flooded in the historic Hurricane Agnes deluge of 1972.About 75 people and five pets were staying at a Red Cross shelter at Solomon-Plains Elementary School in Plains Township, outside Wilkes-Barre, many clustered around a big-screen TV to watch news coverage of the flooding.Christina Holmes, 38, came with her fiancé and three children. Before leaving their apartment in Wilkes-Barre, they unplugged appliances and picked up items off the floor. Holmes said she's been told to expect to stay at the shelter at least through Sunday.I'm trying to make the best of it,she said. I brought the (playing) cards. I brought the games for the kids. She said it's been a long time since they've seen sunny, blue skies. We've had rain for about five straight days and it's like, as soon as it's done, it picks back up, Holmes said.Late Thursday, Wilkes-Barre city crews scrambled to plug holes in the city's elaborate flood control system with sandbags. The river's dramatic rise began to slow, giving hope that the walls and earthen mounds would hold.In nearby places unprotected by the levee system, however, emergency officials expected catastrophic flooding of 800 to 900 structures, as the river was likely to crest above some rooftops. At least 12 deaths have been blamed on Lee and its aftermath: four in Pennsylvania; three in Virginia; one in Maryland; and four others killed when it came ashore on the Gulf Coast last week. There were also mandatory evacuations in a neighborhood along the Housatonic River in Shelton, Conn., just as residents were mopping up from the mess Hurricane Irene left behind.I even have fish swimming in my garage, that's a first, Brian Johnson told the Connecticut Post. There's minnows swimming in there.Damage in parts of New Jersey that were inundated by Irene's rainfall was less than feared. About 300 residents waited to return home after Lee's remnants renewed flooding, mostly along the Passaic River in Pine Brook and Little Falls and along the Pompton River at Pompton Plains. Three houses were swept off their foundations by a mudslide in Liberty Township, in Warren County, on Thursday, but no one was injured.Contributing to this report were Associated Press writers Matthew Barakat in Vienna, Va.; Seth Borenstein in Washington; Chris Carola and Rik Stevens in Albany, N.Y.; Alex Dominguez in Port Deposit, Md.; Mary Esch in Schenectady, N.Y.; Jim Fitzgerald in White Plains, N.Y.; Michael Hill in Oneonta, N.Y.; Peter Jackson in Harrisburg, Pa.; Kasey Jones in Baltimore, and Randy Pennell in Philadelphia.

POWER OUTAGE

REVELATION 16:10-11
10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

Power back on for 1.4 million San Diego customers
APBy JULIE WATSON - Associated Press | AP – SEPT 9,11

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Electricity was restored in San Diego early Friday after utility crews worked around-the-clock to make emergency repairs following an outage accidentally triggered by a utility worker.Parts of California, Arizona and Mexico also were left in the dark. The restoration of power in San Diego signaled that the blackout was essentially over, with electricity back to almost everyone affected by the outage, though the electrical system was deemed fragile and people were urged to go easy on air conditioning.San Diego schools and beaches remained closed. The San Diego area was hit especially hard with power severed about 4 p.m. Thursday to all of San Diego Gas & Electric Co.'s 1.4 million household and business customers, the company said, leaving residents sweltering without air conditioners and paralyzing some San Diego freeway and airport traffic.Power was restored in San Diego Friday morning. According to tallies provided by officials, power was also restored to 180,000 customers in Mexico and 56,000 in Yuma, Arizona. The entire region is home to some 6 million people, though it was impossible to say exactly how many had lost power. The outage occurred after an electrical worker removed a piece of monitoring equipment at a power substation in southwest Arizona, officials at Phoenix-based Arizona Public Service Co. said.

It's possible that extreme heat in the region also may have caused some problems with the transmission lines, said Mike Niggli, chief operating officer of San Diego Gas & Electric Co.Two reactors at a nuclear power plant along the coast went offline after losing electricity, but officials said there was no danger to the public or workers.During the night, much of San Diego was in darkness, and all outgoing flights grounded at its main airport, Lindbergh Field. The airfield was open and had power Friday morning but authorities said some airlines may have cancelled individual flights. The blackout extended south of the border to Tijuana, Mexicali and other cities in Mexico's Baja California state, which are connected to the U.S. power grid, Niggli said.Police on both sides sent in re-enforcements to prevent looting and other crime in their cities, but none was reported. In the border city of Tijuana, people formed long lines outside convenience stores Thursday, trying to buy ice or take advance of beer being sold at half price. Many people were drinking that beer on the streets or in parked cars with speakers booming loud music.Cars also formed snaking lines at the few gas stations with generators that remained open and Traffic snarled street after traffic lights stopped working.Jose Padilla Flores, who was one of the few people who still had electricity Thursday, was offering to let people watch the telenovela on his television if they bought fried tacos and flavored water from his small restaurant El Dorado in the Independencia neighborhood.
My female neighbors were the first ones to ask if I could let them watch the telenovela, said Padilla Flores, 35. I thought that was a great idea to promote my business. The outage came more than eight years after a more severe black out in 2003 darkened a large swath of the Northeast and Midwest. More than 50 million people were affected in that outage. In 2001, California's failed experiment with energy deregulation was widely blamed for six days of rolling blackouts that cut power to more than 3 million customers and shut down refrigerators, ATMs and traffic signals.

911 ATTACK THREATENED AGAIN REPORTS

Europe's debt woes hammer stocks, euro
Reuters By Richard Leong | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Fears over Europe's festering debt problems punished global stocks and the euro on Friday as the stakes intensified for the world's top finance officials to find ways to prevent the crisis from spiraling out of control. The euro hit 6-1/2 month lows against the dollar, with more declines likely after the European Central Bank shifted away from further rises in interest rates, a key driver in the single currency's rally this year.Nervousness over the outcome of a Greek debt swap deal fueled safe-haven buying of German and U.S. government debt. The 10-year Bund yield hit another record low, while yields on benchmark U.S. Treasuries touched a 60-year trough.Europe is the No. 1 thing causing pressure on the market as the realization grows that what we've done so far hasn't worked, said Liz Ann Sonders, the New York-based chief investment strategist at Charles Schwab Corp, which has $1.65 trillion in client assets.Divisions within the ECB on the handling of Europe's debt woes boiled over on Friday. Reuters reported board member Juergen Stark will resign because of a conflict over its controversial bond-buying program. The ECB later confirmed Stark will step down at the end of the year. When you get a new story like this, that there's internal turmoil on the ECB, that immediately has implications for the bond-buying program, which immediately has implications on the capital level in European banks, said Jack de Gan, chief investment officer at Harbor Advisory Corp in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The debt swap deal is critical for Greece to secure a second bailout and avert a near-term default that could ripple across Europe and the global banking system.Banks and insurers face a Friday deadline to indicate whether they will join an exchange of Greek debt, part of an international bailout package agreed in July. It is expected 70 percent of these private investors would agree to such a move, below the 90 percent threshold that Greece has said it wants to go through with the deal.

The cost to insure Greek sovereign debt for five years surged to a record high of 3,106 basis points, up nearly 300 basis points on the day, according to Markit. With that as a backdrop, finance ministers and central bankers from the Group of Seven industrialized nations were to meet in Marseille later on Friday.Meeting host France has called for a coordinated response from G7 members to deal with Europe's debt crisis and the region's shaky banks. In the United States, President Barack Obama unveiled his $447 billion plan to revive economic growth. But investors worried that Congress would hold it up and the Federal Reserve may not follow quickly enough with its own action.Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, in a speech on Thursday, left the door open for more monetary stimulus but withheld details on the timing and what type of measures the Fed would enact. At 12:40 p.m. (1622 GMT), the Dow Jones industrial average was down 324.11 points, or 2.87 percent, at 10,971.70. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 33.01 points, or 2.78 percent, at 1,152.89. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 63.51 points, or 2.51 percent, at 2,465.63.Top European shares were off 2.6 percent, and the MSCI world equity index was off 2.9 percent. The FTSEurofirst 300 index and the MSCI world gauge were down 3.4 percent on the week.

Another retreat in equities boosted safe-haven German and U.S. government bond prices. The 10-year Bund yield touched an all-time low of 1.75 percent, while the benchmark 10-year U.S. yield was last 1.896 percent, the lowest in at least 60 years.
The euro was last down 1.6 percent against the dollar at $1.3663, its lowest in 6-1/2 months. The single currency has fallen 5.1 percent in September.Gold slipped after soaring to a record high above $1,900 an ounce earlier this week due to its appeal as both a safe haven and a hedge against inflation. It was last down 0.2 percent at $1,865 an ounce as nervous investors sold the metal on growing concerns its run-up had been overdone.(Reporting by Ryan Vlastelica and Rodrigo Campos in New York; Emelia Sithole-Matarise, Brian Gorman and Neal Armstrong in London; writing by Richard Leong; Editing by Dan Grebler)

Exclusive: Stark to leave ECB over bond-buying row
ReutersBy Alexander Hübner and Andreas Framke | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - European Central Bank Executive Board member Juergen Stark is resigning his post in what sources say is a protest against its policy of buying bonds to help troubled euro zone debtor states.A euro zone central bank source said Stark was at angry at being passed over when Bundesbank chief Axel Weber quit earlier this year, clearly unhappy with the ECB bond-buying program, and also felt the departure of ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet next month would mark the end of an era at the ECB.Stark's decision to announce his departure now, rather than in a couple of months, was designed not to make it look like he was resigning because Italian Mario Draghi is succeeding Trichet from November 1, said the source.News of Stark's shock departure highlights the size of the split at the ECB over the bond-buy plan and the extreme tension between its members, who have been at the center of the policy response to the euro zone debt crisis.Stark is one of the most experienced policymakers at the ECB, a young institution facing the impending retirement of Trichet and uncertainty about how it will be led by Draghi, whose country is embroiled in the euro zone debt crisis.Stark and Bundesbank head Jens Weidmann both opposed the ECB's decision last month to reactivate its bond plan following a 19-week pause. The bank decided to buy the bonds of Italy and Spain after they came closer to succumbing to the debt crisis. The ECB has faced sharp criticism in Germany for buying bonds -- a move many here see as taking the bank into the fiscal arena and threatening its core role of fighting inflation.

The ECB confirmed Stark would be the second German policymaker to leave the bank this year after Weber quit in February, also in protest at the bond program. This is remarkable, said Manfred Neumann, emeritus economics professor at Bonn University and former thesis adviser to Weidmann.Stark held the same view of the bond-buying as Axel Weber and the current Bundesbank president. It is a position that all the Germans have. This is a sign of huge problems within the central bank. The Germans clearly have a problem with the direction of the ECB.The ECB said Stark had resigned for personal reasons but two other sources told Reuters it was related to the bond-buying that has rescued Italy and Spain from crisis over the past month. The euro, European and U.S. stock markets fell in response. Bond yield spreads, though, for Europe's struggling periphery were only slightly higher.German Deputy Finance Minister Joerg Asmussen will replace Stark on the ECB's six-member Executive Board, a source familiar with the plan said.Asmussen will be more pragmatic, Bert Ruerup, former head of the wisemen council of economic advisers to the German government told Reuters. I don't think that he will fight as openly. This may calm down when the EFSF gets the power to buy bonds.Asmussen has been a key figure in Germany's policy response to the euro zone debt crisis. The ECB's policy orientation will not be altered by Stark's departure, Austrian ECB policymaker Ewald Nowotny said. German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said he expected a German candidate to succeed Stark and that the successor would pursue the same policies of stability as Stark.

TEMPERS FRAY

News of Stark's departure came just a day after Trichet delivered an impassioned defense of the ECB's record and its handling of the euro zone debt crisis.Trichet's emotional response to a question about calls from some in Germany for a return to the Deutschmark suggested tempers were running high at the bank.German politicians immediately leapt on news of Stark's resignation to press for a change of direction at the ECB.His departure is a dramatic alarm signal which shows the ECB must correct its course, said Kurt Lauk, president of the economic council of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats. It is also a clear signal that the ECB must be freed from the role of aid provider that was foisted on it due to bad decisions by politicians,he added. The ECB has been concerned that by buying the sovereign bonds of Italy -- the euro zone's third largest economy -- it is encouraging Rome to slacken efforts to shore up its finances, and has been irritated by flip-flopping over austerity measures. However, Trichet said after the bank's policy meeting on Thursday that the latest decisions by the Italian government meant it was delivering on what it had promised.Stark, 63, has been a member of the ECB's six-member Executive Board -- whose members form the Governing Council along with the 17 euro zone national bank chiefs -- since June 2006.He holds the board's influential economics portfolio, a role that allows him to present a template of the ECB's monetary policy statement that forms a basis for the Governing Council's final view.
The ECB said Stark's successor would be appointed before the end of the year. Stark's term on the board was due to run until May 31, 2014.In addition to Trichet and Stark, Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, another heavyweight ECB board member, is expected to leave the bank this year. Their departures leave the ECB without some of its most experienced policymakers while the euro zone crisis shows no sign of abating.(Additional reporting by Marc Jones, Sakari Suoninen, Daniel Flynn and Noah Barkin; Writing by Paul Carrel; Editing by Ruth Pitchford/Mike Peacock)

U.S. demands action from Europe's strongest at G7
Reuters By Catherine Bremer and Tetsushi Kajimoto | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) - The United States pressed Europe's strongest economies on Friday to give unequivocal financial support to weaker euro zone states to overcome a debt crisis that threatens the world economy. It is completely within the capacity of the stronger members of the euro area to absorb these costs, U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said as G7 finance chiefs gathered in Marseille to discuss how to revive a stalling recovery. Those costs would be much, much greater for them and their economies if they sit here and do nothing, and they recognize that, Geithner told Bloomberg Television in comments that appeared aimed primarily at EU economic powerhouse Germany. With markets looking to the Group of Seven major industrial economies for some sign of a policy shift to help faltering growth, a G7 source said the meeting might after all issue a communique, which G7 chair France had said was not planned.Ministers and central bankers were under pressure to calm the biggest confidence crisis in financial markets since the 2007-8 global credit crunch. But a shock announcement that the top German official at the European Central Bank is leaving early in disagreement with the bank's policy of buying euro zone government bonds to support the likes of Italy and Spain laid bare deep rifts over how to manage the debt crisis. The ECB confirmed that chief economist Juergen Stark would retire nearly three years before his term is due to expire. His decision means Bank of Italy governor Mario Draghi will start his term at the ECB helm in November with a mountain to climb to restore its credibility in Germany, Europe's biggest economy.

France has called for a coordinated response from the Group of Seven industrialized nations after mounting anxiety over Europe's debt crisis and the fragility of its banks caused a big fall in world stock markets in recent weeks.Differences between the economic problems facing the euro zone, Britain and the United States -- which unveiled a $447 billion jobs package on Thursday -- are complicating the task though, meaning one-size-fits-all solutions will not work.IMF chief Christine Lagarde said in London before boarding a flight for Marseille that policymakers in advanced economies should use all available tools to boost growth and called for bold action to weather a dangerous new phase of recovery. She also cautioned against too much fiscal consolidation in a climate of sputtering growth. But a G7 source told Reuters a unanimous agreement at the Marseille talks on coordinated monetary easing was unlikely.A source in Brussels has said the G7 would likely agree to keep monetary policy accommodative, slow fiscal consolidation in states where that is possible, and implement structural reforms.Fears the global economy may be in its most difficult period since the collapse of investment bank Lehman Brothers have added significance to Friday's talks but there has been little evidence of the unity of purpose shown in 2008 and 2009.U.S. President Barack Obama's new package of tax cuts and spending could lift U.S. growth by one to three percentage points in 2012 and add more than a million jobs. But in debt-ridden Europe, there is little scope for fiscal stimulus, and where there is some wiggle-room -- in Germany and Britain -- there is no political appetite for it.In an indication of the conflicting positions on policy, Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty told Reuters TV decisive moves were needed to restore market confidence and said slowing fiscal consolidation too much would be foolish.I hope we would all agree we have to stay the course, that we have to go through the pain of fiscal consolidation. It's not easy, it creates stresses in some countries, but it's necessary, we have to get through this rough patch,Flaherty said.G7 finance ministers and central bankers trickled into the sunlit Mediterranean port city of Marseille around lunchtime and talks were due to start at 4:00 p.m. (1400 GMT).A working dinner will be followed by briefings from around 9:15 p.m. local time (1915 GMT) by the French, German, Canadian and Japanese delegations and European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet. The United States plans no briefing.

ASIA AS CONCERNED AS U.S.

With Asian economies deeply worried about the West's debt crisis and slow growth, Japan said it will voice its concern on the euro zone debt crisis and seek support for its right to unilateral action over safe-haven buying pushing up the yen.Bank of Japan Governor Masaaki Shirakawa told reporters in Marseille he hoped the talks would share frank views on the crisis and said it was vital that G7 finance chiefs came up with a firm stance to stabilize the world economy. There are various factors behind the world economy's uncertainty but Europe's debt problem is one major factor. It is important for Europe to tackle its debt problems for its own sake but it would also indirectly bring positive effects on Japan's economy,he said.Finance Minister Jun Azumi said Japan would ask the G7 for its understanding on its intentions to counter yen rises.Lagarde said policymakers must act now, and boldly, giving her blessing to more quantitative easing by central banks and saying the challenge was to find a pace of adjustment that was neither too fast nor too slow. She said countries facing market pressures must push ahead with urgent fiscal consolidation, while there was scope for slower action in countries not at the mercy of market forces. If growth continues to lose momentum, balance sheet problems will worsen, fiscal sustainability will be threatened, and the scope for policies to salvage the recovery will disappear, she said.Decisions by the European and British central banks this week to keep interest rates unchanged accentuated the gloom in Europe but neither indicated that a cut was imminent, while Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke gave no hint of new stimulus to boost the economy in a keenly awaited speech.Despite speculation about new coordinated forex intervention, a standard final statement remains the most likely outcome, Unicredit said in a research note.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development says growth across the G7 could slow to an anemic 0.2 percent in the last quarter of 2011. Its chief economist Pier Carlo Padoan urged the G7 to send a clear signal it is ready to take action if growth slows further.(Additional reporting by Daniel Flynn and Claire Watson in Marseille, John Irish in Paris, Keith Weir in London, David Lawder in Washington and Leika Kihara in Tokyo; Writing by Catherine Bremer, editing by Mike Peacock)

Marseille G7 eyeing communique but no big action
Reuters By Giselda Vagnoni and Daniel Flynn | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) - Group of Seven finance chiefs will likely issue a communique after their talks in southern France, following demand from markets, but there will be no talk of combined market intervention, G7 sources said.Sources from different members of the G7 group of industrialized economies said a final communique was now in the works, after pressure from delegations, despite host country France having planned not to issue one.The statement will voice support for U.S. President Barack Obama's $447 billion jobs plan and for Europe's July 21 decision to beef up the powers of the euro zone's EFSF bailout facility, taking care to present a united front among G7 nations, one source said.Final approval on a communique from finance ministers and central bank heads in the Mediterranean port city of Marseille was still required as the group wrapped up meeting sessions at 6:00 p.m. (1600 GMT) and prepared to head into a working dinner.Friday's meeting took place under heavy pressure to take action to revive flagging economic growth in rich nations and calm the biggest confidence crisis in financial markets since the global credit crunch, with policy options limited by big economic differences between countries.A second source said a communique would likely talk about the global economic slowdown, financial market turmoil and the policy tools different countries could use, but would make no reference to concerted interventions.(Writing by Catherine Bremer)

With credible 9/11 threat, NY mounts major operation
By Mark Hosenball and Phil Stewart | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New York police will mount a major counterterrorism operation during Friday's evening rush hour as U.S. officials rush to check credible, but unconfirmed intelligence about a 9/11 anniversary plot, a senior law enforcement official told Reuters. The operation will involve a big show of force which will include officers armed with heavy weapons patrolling subways and stepped up security and bag checks at major subway and commuter train stations, including Grand Central and Pennsylvania station terminals, the official said. Law enforcement agencies in neighboring states were also involved. While the operation had been planned some time ago, the forces and tactics deployed will be stepped up after local and federal authorities received what they described as specific and credible but unconfirmed intelligence about a possible threat to attack the United States by Islamic militants timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, al Qaeda attacks on New York and Washington.Intelligence about the anniversary threat only surfaced during the course of this week and included possible threats of attacks targeting subways or commuter trains or possible car bomb attacks in New York or Washington, U.S. officials said.Vice President Joseph Biden said on ABC's Good Morning America program on Friday morning: We don't have the smoking gun but we do have talk about using a car bomb. One of the officials said the threat is believed to come from militants following an al Qaeda ideology. But it is not certain whether there is a direct connection to what remains of al Qaeda's battered core leadership.

Officials have said that U.S. law enforcement agencies are on the lookout for three possible suspects, though it is unclear how much, if any, precise information regarding the suspects' identities is available to U.S. authorities. We have to be concerned. Terrorism is theater and this is a stage, right now probably the world's biggest stage, said New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly. We have the opening of the 9/11 memorial, the president and two former presidents here, obviously a lot of high profile public officials will be here, so we have to be concerned,Kelly told CNN.On Thursday, President Barack Obama ordered a redoubling of U.S. counterterrorism efforts in the face of a "credible but unconfirmed" threat before the September 11 attacks anniversary.

SUSPECTS LINKED TO AL QAEDA

U.S. officials, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said the threat involved Washington and New York City, which were targeted in al Qaeda attacks a decade ago this Sunday that killed nearly 3,000 people.A counterterrorism official said intelligence pointed to possible car bomb attacks and added the threat information came from Pakistan's tribal areas. A manhunt was under way for two or three suspects, who one person familiar with the matter said were suspected of having links to al Qaeda. But U.S. officials used strong caveats when discussing the threat information privately, with a national security official cautioning that experts thought the threat would ultimately not check out.New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stressed at a news conference on Friday that the threat had not been corroborated, even as he announced heightened security measures some of which you may notice, some of which you may not notice.Bloomberg asked citizens to go about their daily routines as usual but report any suspicious or dangerous activity. Over the next three days we should all keep our eyes wide open. The White House said Obama was briefed on specific threat information on Thursday morning, and said the government had already heightened security before the anniversary.

BACK TO BIN LADEN COMPOUND

Documents discovered in Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, after he was killed in a raid in May by Navy SEALs, highlighted his persistent interest in attacking the United States around the anniversary of the 2001 attacks. But it is unclear if the plans ever evolved beyond aspiration. As we know from the intelligence gathered following the Osama bin Laden raid, al Qaeda has showed an interest in important dates and anniversaries, such as 9/11, said Jan Fedarcyk with the FBI's New York field office.Kelly announced measures including more bag inspections on the subway, more bomb-sniffing dogs on patrol and increased deployment of radiation monitoring equipment. There will be increased focus on tunnels and bridges and infrastructure in general, as well as landmark locations, houses of worship and government buildings, he said.A law-enforcement source played down an ABC News report about missing rental trucks -- saying the vehicles had been recovered and there was no connection to terrorism.(Additional reporting by Jeremy Pelofsky, Alister Bull and JoAnne Allen in Washington and Michelle Nichols in New York; editing by Anthony Boadle)

Clinton: al Qaeda behind unconfirmed threat to U.S.
Reuters By Sandra Maler | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Friday said that al Qaeda was behind a specific, credible but unconfirmed report of a threat to harm Americans, notably in New York and Washington. We are meeting here in New York ... with the news last night of a specific, credible but unconfirmed report that al Qaeda again is seeking to harm Americans and in particular to target New York and Washington, Clinton said in a speech.President Barack Obama on Thursday ordered a redoubling of counter-terrorism efforts in the face of the threat ahead of Sunday's 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, U.S. officials said.In a speech ahead of the anniversary, Clinton said it was impossible to foil every plot and that al Qaeda was still capable of regional and international attacks. However, she said Washington would wage a relentless campaign against it and, later this month, would set up Global Counter-Terrorism Forum to gather officials to identify threats, devise solutions and share expertise. The group, to be co-chaired by the United States and Turkey, will also include Algeria, Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, the European Union, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, the State Department said.(Editing by Sandra Maler)

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

ISAIAH 17:1

5 For they (MUSLIMS) have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:(TREATIES)
6 The tabernacles of Edom,(JORDAN) and the Ishmaelites;(ARABS) of Moab, PALESTINIANS,JORDAN) and the Hagarenes;(EGYPT)

DANIEL 11:40-43
40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south( EGYPT) push at him:(EU DICTATOR IN ISRAEL) and the king of the north (RUSSIA AND MUSLIM HORDES OF EZEK 38+39) shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.(JORDAN)
42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

EZEKIEL 39:1-8
1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech (MOSCOW) and Tubal: (TUBOLSK)
2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts,(RUSSIA) and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands,( ARABS) and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
6 And I will send a fire on Magog,(NUCLEAR BOMB) and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army,(RUSSIA,MUSLIMS) and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.(SIBERIAN DESERT)
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.(NUCLEAR BOMB)
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Analysis: Turkey to complicate life for Israel, but avoid war Reuters By Crispian Balmer | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Turkey's threat to send warships to protect aid convoys to Gaza is unlikely to trigger conflict with Israel, but the dramatic deterioration in relations between the one-time allies could jeopardize Israeli energy ambitions.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the stakes with Israel on Thursday, saying he would dispatch the navy to escort any future flotillas to Gaza and prevent a repeat of an Israeli raid last year that killed nine Turks.Ankara has already downgraded diplomatic relations with Israel and halted defense trade following the Jewish state's confirmation last week that it would not apologize for the deadly 2010 assault on a boat challenging its Gaza blockade.Despite the intensifying rhetoric, it seems hard to believe that the region's two biggest military powers, both important allies of the United States, would face off over the Palestinian enclave Gaza, which is ruled by the Islamist group Hamas. It won't turn into a military confrontation, because the Turks aren't stupid. It's absurd to think a NATO country would get into a military confrontation with Israel, said Gad Shimron, a retired Mossad officer and defense expert.By the same token, it seems unlikely that Erdogan will let the matter drop, with many analysts seeing his repeated criticism of Israel as a calculated bid to boost his standing in the Arab world and assume a dominant role in the Middle East.Tellingly, he made his comments to Al Jazeera, the pan-Arabic television station, upping the ante just days before he is due to visit a trio of Arab countries, including Egypt, which has itself fallen out with Israel in recent weeks.Erdogan thinks the easy target is Israel, but he doesn't know if it will pay off. He is taking a gamble, said Yossi Shain, a professor at both Tel Aviv University and Georgetown University in Washington. He wants to be the champion of the Arab and Islamic world, but it is not clear whether he can.

DISPUTED GAS FIELDS

Turkey has a much larger navy than Israel but would have to think twice about any military brinkmanship given the imposing strength of the Israeli air force.Keep in mind that were Israel to initiate an interception, say against a Turkish bid to sail on Gaza, it would have the advantage of choosing the time, place and deployment strength,a former Israeli admiral told Reuters, declining to be named because of the sensitivity of the subject.Indicating there is no imminent danger of a clash, the charity that organised last year's convoy to the Gaza Strip said on Friday it had no plans for now for another flotilla.Regardless of that, Turkey has also said it will make its presence felt in the eastern Mediterranean at a time when Israel is looking to exploit recently discovered gas fields off its coasts and hook up with Cyprus to build energy facilities.Turkey does not recognize Cyprus's Greek Cypriot government, while Lebanon has accused Israel of breaking international law by exploring for gas without an agreement between the two countries -- which are formally at war -- on their maritime border. Israel denies this.A heavy Turkish naval presence near the disputed fields could undoubtedly cause Israel headaches, just as it thought that it had finally overcome its longstanding energy shortages. This is a feasible and significantly troubling prospect. I imagine it would compromise foreign investment in those fields, the former admiral said.Israel has sought to play down the diplomatic crisis, with officials pointing out that the two countries had already overcome previous rows, such as in 1980 when Turkey curbed ties to protest at Israel's annexation of Arab East Jerusalem. But back then, Turkey was a much poorer nation than it is today, and there were very few cultural, sporting or business links between the two countries. The implications of a falling-out today are much more significant, with trade between Turkey and Israel worth $3.5 billion last year, helping keep thousands of people in work.Turkey is a very strong country today and this is very serious situation, said Alon Liel, the head of the Israeli diplomatic mission in Turkey from 1981 to 1983 and a former director general of the Foreign Ministry.

LOSING FRIENDS

Although Turkey is an undoubted regional power, it has suffered a difficult few months due to the Arab uprisings. It has had to retool its foreign policy in Syria and Libya, losing old allies in the process, and has distanced itself with Iran. Erdogan is clearly trying to regain the initiative and will have to be careful not to push things too far.He has painted Turkey into a very tight corner, said Gareth Jenkins, an Istanbul-based security analyst.Turkey is squandering the moral capital it had gained after the (2010 flotilla) incident, in which international public opinion sided with Turkey. But the international community will be very hostile.Washington has stayed largely quiet over the past week, urging reconciliation between the two parties without publicly taking sides. However, much more Turkish saber-rattling is sure to fire up passions, with the U.S. Congress fiercely pro-Israel.(Erdogan) is about to get a tough response from Washington. They are watching him and letting him play, but the moment is coming, said Shain, who is working in the United States.Erdogan may well be calculating that Washington cannot afford to imperil relations with Turkey at such crucial moment for the Middle East, but as with his fight with Israel, that is a risky bet to take.(Additional reporting by Dan Williams in Jerusalem and Ibon Villelabeitia in Ankara; Editing by Mark Heinrich)

Israel wary at harsh Turk naval challenge
Reuters By Dan Williams | Reuters – SEPT 9,11

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel will keep blockading Gaza in the face of Turkey's unprecedented naval challenge and is prepared for escalation though it seeks to calm the waters with its ex-ally, officials said on Friday.Deepening a crisis over Israel's killing last year of nine of their citizens aboard an aid flotilla that tried to reach the Palestinian enclave, the Turks vowed on Thursday to assign warships to escort such convoys in the future. The prospect of a showdown at sea with Turkey, a NATO power and fellow U.S. strategic partner in the region, rattled Israelis already long on edge given Arab political upheaval and Iran's nuclear program.Breaking an almost 24-hour-long silence on the warships announcement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said Israeli policy was and remains the prevention of deterioration in our ties with Turkey and easing the tensions between the countries. The prime minister and cabinet discussed the various theoretical possibilities should escalation occur. But a decision on such will be made only if and when required.Confrontation did not appear imminent after the IHH, a Turkish Islamist charity that owned the Mavi Marmara cruise ship stormed by Israeli marines on May 31, 2010, said in Istanbul it had no plan for now to mount another Gaza mission. But Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan also pledged to boost naval patrols around easter Mediterranean gas fields being developed by Israel, a potential blow to the Netanyahu government's quest for energy independence. The Obama administration appealed for rapprochement. We are encouraging both countries to find a way to work together to overcome their differences and restore at least some of the friendship that they previously had,U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro told Israel Radio.

SABER-RATTLING

They had tried to mend fences ahead of a U.N. report last week that deemed the blockade a legal means to stem the flow of arms to Gaza's governing Hamas and other Palestinian militants. Israel formally declared it during a 2008-2009 war with Hamas.
Turkey argues that the naval closure amounts to illegal collective punishment of Gaza's impoverished 1.5 million Palestinians and conditioned reconciliation on it being lifted. There is no intent to review the blockade as long as Hamas amasses missiles. This is a measure consistent with international law, said Yigal Palmor, spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry. The U.N. inquiry also called Israeli marines' gunfire in brawls aboard the Mavi Marmara excessive and unreasonable and the deaths caused unacceptable.Israel voiced regret but rejected Ankara's demand for a formal apology and compensation. While Turkey's navy outclasses Israel's, the latter could make use of its advanced air force in any coastal face-off. Yet analysts saw them coming to blows as unlikely. [nL5E7K91B2]The things Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan said are harsh and serious, but I don't think it would be right to get into any verbal saber-rattling with him, Netanyahu deputy Dan Meridor told Israel's Army Radio. Our silence is the best response. I hope this phenomenon will pass.Erdogan's forceful comments about the Eastern Mediterranean also prompted a warning from the European Union not to threaten EU-member Cyprus.Turkey is the only country that recognizes a separate Turkish-run state in Cyprus's northern third, which it invaded in 1974 in response to a Greek-inspired coup. You know that Israel has begun to declare that it has the right to act in exclusive economic areas in the Mediterranean, Erdogan said.

You will see that it will not be the owner of this right, because Turkey, as the guarantor of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, has taken steps in the area, and it will be decisive and holding fast to the right to monitor international waters in the east Mediterranean.EU spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said: The EU urges Turkey to refrain from any kinds of threats, sources of friction that could negatively affect good neighborly relations and the peaceful settlement of border disputes.Any dispute between Turkey and Israel is unlikely to embroil NATO, which operates on the basis of unanimous decisions, an official of the Western alliance said in Brussels. It's literally impossible for NATO to take any action that's not agreed by all 28 allies, the official said.(Writing by Dan Williams; Additional reporting by Ari Rabinovitch in Jerusalem, Seltem Iyigunl and Ibon Villelabeitia in Istanbul and David Brunnstrom in Brussels)

16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.

UN chief says Palestinian statehood long overdue
AFP – SEPT 9,11

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said Palestinian statehood was long overdue, a day after its leadership launched a campaign to become the world body's 194th member state. The two state vision where Israel and Palestinians can live... side by side in peace and security -- that is a still a valid vision and I fully support it, he told reporters in Canberra. And I support also the statehood of Palestinians; an independent, sovereign state of Palestine. It has been long overdue.
But... the recognition of a state is something to be determined by the member states,he added. It is not by the Secretary General so I leave it to the member states to decide to recognise or not to recognise.Ban, who has been in Australia as part of a sweeping Pacific tour which has taken him to New Zealand, the Solomon Islands and Kirabati, called for meaningful negotiations to resolve the issue. The United Nations leader's comments came after Palestinians Thursday launched their campaign to join the UN.Their National Campaign for Palestine: State 194 is part of the build-up to September 20, when president Mahmud Abbas is expected to submit a formal request that the UN accept Palestine as a member. However, Washington has already confirmed it would veto any bid, a move also opposed by Israel. The official Palestinian campaign of support for the bid got under way with about 100 people marching to UN headquarters in the West Bank Thursday to hand a letter to the UN representative asking that Ban support them.If the bid is vetoed in the Security Council, the Palestinians plan to turn to the General Assembly where they are expected to easily win the votes needed to upgrade their representation from observer body to non-member state.

US will veto Palestinian statehood bid at UN
AP – SEPT 9,11

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says it will veto any bid by the Palestinians to seek statehood recognition at the U.N. Security Council. The administration had long said it opposed such a unilateral move by the Palestinians. The U.S. has been working to prevent a Palestinian resolution from coming before the council.Until now, Washington had not explicitly said it would use its veto to prevent passage. On Thursday, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that if the issue comes to a vote in the Security Council, the U.S. will veto it.Israel opposes the statehood push as well.Nuland says the U.S. view is that the Palestinian effort is misguided and that statehood should come only as a result of negotiations with Israel.

Palestinians officially launch statehood campaign

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — The Palestinians on Thursday officially launched their campaign to join the United Nations as a full member state, saying they would stage a series of peaceful events in the run-up to the annual gathering of the U.N. General Assembly later this month. Some 100 Palestinian officials and activists gathered at the U.N. offices in Ramallah for a short ceremony, where they announced their plans in a letter addressed to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.The letter urges Ban to add his moral voice in support of the Palestinian people.Families of the tens of thousands of victims of Israeli occupation, including those martyred, wounded and imprisoned, and countless others who were expelled from their homes or lost their homes and their property, hope that you will exert all possible efforts toward the achievement of the Palestinian people's just demands, it says. The letter was handed over by Latifa Abu Hmeid, a 70-year-old woman who lost one son in fighting with Israel and has seven other sons in Israeli prisons because of alleged militant activities.Officials said Abu Hmeid was selected to deliver the document because her personal story reflects the plight of the Palestinians. A resident of a West Bank refugee camp, her house has been twice demolished by Israeli authorities as punishment for her sons' activities, they said.

The Palestinians have decided to turn to the U.N. to recognize their independence after two decades of unsuccessful peace efforts with Israel. The latest round of talks broke down a year ago.The campaign seeks recognition of an independent Palestine in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem — areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel rejects a return to its 1967 lines. While any U.N. vote will be largely symbolic, the Palestinians believe a strong international endorsement will boost their position and put pressure on Israel should negotiations resume. Israel has been lobbying the international community to oppose the vote, saying peace can only be achieved through negotiations. The letter says the campaign will include a series of peaceful events in various international cities and capitals leading up to the Sept. 21 opening of the General Assembly. Two days later, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will address the gathering in New York and ask for admission to the United Nations. It remains unclear whether the Palestinians will turn to the Security Council or the General Assembly. The Council needs nine votes out of 15 and no veto from any of its permanent members to pass a decision. However, the United States, which opposes the Palestinian bid, is expected to veto any request in the Council.

The Palestinians could then seek admission as a nonmember state of the General Assembly, like the Vatican.Approval in the Assembly, which is dominated by developing nations sympathetic to the Palestinians, is assured. But the vote would not be legally binding. The Palestinians say they will continue their campaign until they gain full U.N. membership.Although the Palestinians say their campaign will be peaceful, Israeli military officials fear that mass demonstrations in the West Bank could turn violent.Security forces have been preparing for the possibility of violence, conducting exercises and stockpiling what they say is non-lethal riot-control equipment like tear gas, water cannons and stun grenades.Israeli West Bank settlers, meanwhile, came under suspicion Thursday in the latest of a string of attacks against Palestinians and the Israeli military in the West Bank. Two cars were torched and Hebrew-language slogans were spray-painted on a mosque in the Nablus area, and three dozen trees were uprooted from Palestinian farmland in the same area, Israeli and Palestinian officials said. The Israeli military said it was investigating. No one claimed responsibility for the acts, but settlers have carried out similar acts before, in some cases in retaliation for Israeli government actions against settlers, a practice they call price tag. Earlier this week, a West Bank mosque was set afire.Settlers are also suspected of having infiltrated an Israeli military base early Wednesday, smashing windows, slashing the tires of about a dozen vehicles and spray-painting graffiti alluding to the demolition of three homes in an unauthorized settler outpost earlier this week.Separately, the military demolished five West Bank shacks and three water cisterns it said Palestinians built without authorization in the West Bank. U.N. officials said 20 people were left homeless.
The demolitions occurred days after military officials had promised to halt the practice, saying the policy was not equally enforced in Jewish settlements. Military officials did not return messages.

Israel deploys drones over Egyptian border
By DANIELLA CHESLOW - Associated Press | AP – Thu, Sep 8, 2011

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — A senior Israeli military official says the air force has deployed a special unit of unmanned surveillance aircraft along its long, porous border with Egypt after militants crossed the frontier and killed eight Israelis last month. The official says the drones are monitoring both sides of the 150-mile (250-kilometer) border, though the aircraft are flying only in Israeli airspace. In the wake of the attack, Israel also has sent more troops along the border.Officials have grown increasingly concerned about the security situation in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula following the ouster of longtime Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in February. The official spoke on condition of anonymity under military guidelines.Israel, along with the United States, is a world leader in drone technology.

Israel ready to free 1,000 prisoners for Shalit: father AFP – SEPT 9,11

Israel remains ready to free 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for Gilad Shalit, according to the captive soldier's father who demanded Thursday that any UN vote on Palestinian statehood be tied to his release.Noam Shalit indicated that many Palestinian detainees were only being held by Israel because of the dispute with Hamas over his son, now 25, who was grabbed by gunmen from Hamas and two other militant groups on June 25, 2006.Israel is ready to release 1,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange of my son. So Israel is not asking for Gilad for free, Noam Shalit told reporters at the end of a visit to the United Nations to lobby ambassadors. The prisoner exchange proposal was made by German mediators to Israel and Hamas in February, but Noam Shalit said the Palestinian side rejected this. After a deal will be carried out, hopefully very soon, Israel will be happy to free many other Palestinian prisoners that from my point of view are not relevant any more, the father added in an indication of the importance that Israel has put on the soldier's release. The captivity of Gilad prevents the release of many, many Palestinian prisoners unfortunately, he said. The father said he had spoken to the ambassadors of several countries at the UN to urge that any vote on Palestinian statehood at the UN General Assembly include a condition that Gilad Shilat be released. The Palestinian leadership has said it will go to the UN Security Council or General Assembly this month to see a vote giving formal membership to a Palestinian state, or super observer status.

Real big part of our organization here.-- Detroit coach Mike Babcock; Lokomotiv coach Brad McCrimmon, who died in the crash, was an assistant with the Wings for the past three seasons

I was told this morning when we were working out; Pavel Datsyuk came in and said there's a plane that went down somewhere in Russia and believed to be a hockey team on there. We haven't heard any confirmation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and we're hoping for the best, but we don't know anything right now.-- Detroit captain Nicklas Lidstrom, who played with McCrimmon as a rookie

These things hit you like a ton of bricks. You do your best to deal with them and move on. Nothing could prepare the hockey community for the devastating news it received today. The tragic plane crash involving Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League has left all of us beyond words. I had the pleasure of knowing several members of the team, plus the entire coaching staff. In particular, Alexander Vasyunov, who played for us last season, was an outstanding young man and a gifted athlete. Captain Karel Rachunek skated for us in 2007-08. Both were members of the Devils family. On behalf of the entire Devils organization, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the entire Lokomotiv club.-- New Jersey Devils president and GM Lou Lamoriello

Karlis was one of those guys who would do anything for his team. He worked hard and never complained about anything. He was a really nice guy and great family man. Karlis was a wonderful father and husband, as well as a good friend. He will be greatly missed. -- Dallas GM Joe Nieuwendyk on Skrastins' death

It's tough, because yesterday they were alive and today they're not. It's very, very tough -- former New York Islanders captain Alexei Yashin, who spent the past four years in the KHL and played for Lokomotiv from 2007-09

I think I knew 80 percent of the team. Either I played with them or I played against them. You see each other in different tournaments. Some of them you're really close with, or some them you just say hi and have a couple of laughs with. It struck me when I found out. I was at breakfast and reading the Russian newspapers and all of a sudden, it popped up. It's almost like you don't want to believe something like that. It's tough. You have chills and you just hope that the families will find the strength to fight through something like that.-- New York Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov, a Russian who played in the KHL last season

Josef was a key part of the Hurricanes for six years, helping us achieve some of our greatest successes. More importantly, he was a great teammate on and off the ice, and was respected as a person as well as a player.-- Jim Rutherford, Carolina Hurricanes president and GM, on former Hurricanes forward Josef Vasicek

He was one of my best buddies. He was in my wedding. I can't believe this-- Columbus defenseman Radek Martinek, a boyhood friend and former teammate of Vasicek with the Islanders

Hockey in shock after Russian jet crash kills 43
AP By LYNN BERRY - Associated Press | AP – SEPT 7,11

TUNOSHNA, Russia (AP) — A private Russian jet carrying a top ice hockey team slammed into a riverbank moments after takeoff Wednesday, killing at least 43 people in one of the worst plane crashes ever involving a sports team. Two other people on board were critically injured. Both Russia and the world of hockey were left stunned by the deaths of so many international stars in one catastrophic event. The International Ice Hockey Federation said 27 players of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team were killed, along with 2 coaches and 7 club officials.Russian NHL star Alex Ovechkin tweeted: I'm in shock!!!!!R.I.P ...The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said the Yak-42 plane crashed into the shores of the Volga River immediately after leaving the airport near the western city of Yaroslavl, 150 miles (240 kilometers) northeast of Moscow. The weather was sunny and clear at the time. Russian media said the plane struggled to gain altitude and then crashed into a signal tower, shattering into pieces.Russian television showed a flaming fragment of the plane in the river as divers worked feverishly to recover bodies. The plane was carrying the team from Yaroslavl to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where they were to play Thursday against Dinamo Minsk in the opening game of the Kontinental Hockey League season. It had 45 people on board, including 37 passengers and eight crew, the ministry said.

Officials said Russian player Alexander Galimov survived the crash along with a crewmember.Their state of health is very grave. But there is still some hope, said Alexander Degyatryov, chief doctor at Yaroslavl's Solovyov Hospital.Among the dead were Lokomotiv coach and NHL veteran Brad McCrimmon, a Canadian, as well as Pavol Demitra, who played for the St. Louis Blues and the Vancouver Canucks and was the Slovakian national team captain. Also killed were Czech players Josef Vasicek, Karel Rachunek and Jan Marek, Swedish goalie Stefan Liv, Latvian defenseman Karlis Skrastins and defenseman Ruslan Salei of Belarus, the Emergency Ministry said.Though it occurred thousands of miles away from our home arenas, this tragedy represents a catastrophic loss to the hockey world — including the NHL family, which lost so many fathers, sons, teammates and friends, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement. The crash comes on top of an already mournful year for the NHL in which three of the league's enforcers were found dead: Derek Boogaard, Rick Rypien and recently retired Wade Belak. The cause of Wednesday's crash was not immediately apparent, but Russian news agencies cited unnamed local officials as saying it may have been due to technical problems. The plane was built in 1993 and belonged to a small Moscow-based Yak Service company.

In recent years, Russia and the other former Soviet republics have had some of the world's worst air traffic safety records. Experts blame the poor safety record on the age of the aircraft, weak government controls, poor pilot training and a cost-cutting mentality.Swarms of police and rescue crews rushed to Tunoshna, a ramshackle village with a blue-domed church on the banks of the Volga River 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Yaroslavl. One of the plane's engines could be seen poking out of the river and a flotilla of boats combed the water for bodies. Divers struggled to heft the bodies of large, strong athletes in stretchers up the muddy, steep riverbank.Resident Irina Prakhova saw the plane going down then heard a loud bang.It was wobbling in flight, it was clear that something was wrong, said Prakhova. I saw them pulling bodies to the shore, some still in their seats with seatbelts on.More than 2,000 mourning fans wearing jerseys and scarves and waving team flags gathered in the evening outside Lokomotiv's stadium in Yaroslavl to pay their respects. Riot police stood guard as fans chanted sport songs in honor of the dead athletes.Yaroslavl governor Sergei Vakhrukov promised the crowd that the Lokomotiv team would be rebuilt from scratch, prompting anger from some fans at a perceived lack of respect for the dead.Lokomotiv is a leading force in Russian hockey and came third in the KHL last year. It was also a three-time Russian League champion in 1997, 2002 and 2003.McCrimmon, who took over as coach in May, was most recently an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings, and played for years in the NHL for Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Calgary, Hartford and Phoenix. We will do our best to ensure that hockey in Yaroslavl does not die, and that it continues to live for the people that were on that plane, said Russian Ice Hockey Federation President Vladislav Tretyak.A cup game between hockey teams Salavat Yulaev and Atlant in the central Russian city of Ufa was called off in mid-match after news of the crash was announced. Russian television showed an empty arena in Ufa as grief-stricken fans abandoned the stadium. The KHL is an international club league of teams from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Slovakia.Russia was hoping to showcase Yaroslavl as a modern and vibrant city this week at an international forum attended by heads of state, including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, so the crash came as a particularly bitter blow.

Many in the Czech Republic also took the news hard.Jan Marek, Karel Rachunek, and Josef Vasicek contributed greatly to the best successes of our ice hockey in the recent years, first of all to the golden medals at the world championships in 2005 and 2010, said Tomas Kral, the president of the Czech ice hockey association. The were excellent players, but also great friends and personalities. That's how we will remember them.Fans planned to gather Thursday at the Old Town Square in the Czech capital of Prague, where national team players usually celebrate, to commemorate the three Czech players. Vasicek was on the Carolina Hurricanes' 2006 Stanley Cup team.
In the western Slovak city of Trencin, where Demitra started his career and where he played during the NHL lockout 2004-05 season, hundreds fans gathered outside the ice hockey stadium Wednesday night to light candles in his memory.Medvedev has announced plans to take aging Soviet-built planes out of service starting next year. The short- and medium-range Yak-42 has been in service since 1980 and about 100 are still being used by Russian carriers. In June, another Russian passenger jet, a Tu-134, crashed in the northwestern city of Petrozavodsk, killing 47 people. That crash has been blamed on pilot error. In past plane crashes involving sports teams, 75 Marshall University football players, coaches, fans and airplane crew died in Huntington, West Virginia, on Nov. 14, 1970, coming home from a game. Thirty-six of the dead were players and 5 were coaches. Some 29 people were killed when a plane carrying the Uruguayan rugby club Old Christians crashed in the Andes in 1972, including five crew and some family members. The entire 18-member U.S. figure skating team died in a crash en route to the 1961 world championships in Brussels, and 18 members of the Torino soccer team died near Turin, Italy, in a 1949 crash. In 1993, another plane crash claimed 18 members of Zambia's national football team and five team officials in Libreville, Gabon.Vladimir Isachenkov and Peter Leonard in Moscow, Steve Wilson in London and Karel Janicek in Prague contributed to this report.
