RUSSIAN SPIES ARRESTED

REBUILT 3RD TEMPLE (THE EU DICTATORS TEMPLE)

ISAIAH 30:10-15
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:
13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.
15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

REVELATION 11:1-2
1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

DANIEL 9:27
27 And he( THE ROMAN,EU PRESIDENT) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:(1X7=7 YEARS) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,(3 1/2 yrs in TEMPLE SACRIFICES STOPPED) and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

REBUILT 4TH TEMPLE (THE TRUE MESSIAHS TEMPLE)

ZECHARIAH 6:12-13
12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

ISAIAH 60:9-10
9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

ISAIAH 2:1-5
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

MARK 11:9-10,15-17
9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
16 And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple.
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.

EZEKIEL 40 TO 48 IS THIS 4TH TEMPLE TO BIG FOR THE MOUNT I BELIEVE TO BE BUILT 25 MILES FROM JERUSALEM.

New Zealand Jewry Threatens PM with Law Suit on Shechita Ban
by Hillel Fendel JUNE 29,10

Six Jewish representatives of New Zealand’s Jewish community met with Prime Minister John Key last week to discuss the country's recent ban of shechita [ritual Jewish slaughter of cattle, lambs and chickens]. They told him that if the ban was not repealed, they would have no choice but to take the matter to court – where many in the Jewish community feel they could win.The move leaves New Zealand’s Jews without kosher chicken, as the country forbids chicken imports. Kosher beef is permitted for import from Australia.Jewish sources say the ban could be attacked on grounds that it violates the legally-accepted principles of freedom of religion and discrimination, as well as New Zealand’s Animal Welfare Act, which states that animals’ rights do not override religious rights. The ban on shechita was announced a month ago, when Agriculture Minister David Carter annulled all exemptions to the country’s new commercial slaughter code, which requires stunning prior to slaughter. Carter cited concerns for animals’ suffering – and even said that though we may have upset a relatively small religious minority… frankly I don’t think any animals should suffer in the slaughter process. He later apologized.New Zealand Jewish Council chairman Geoff Levy said in a statement that legal action may be the only course open to us.New Zealand’s Jewish community numbers less than a fifth of a percent of the total population - 7,000 out of 4.1 million. JewishJournal.com reports that several thousand chickens were shechita-slaughtered in New Zealand each year. The ban also affects a small number of cattle and lambs, less than 100 each year.

The website also quoted Rabbi Moshe Gutnick of Australia, who supervises kosher certification of products in New Zealand, calling the ban outrageous. He said, Hunting is still permitted for deer and ducks, and that is certainly not humane. The government, using flawed science, institutes a new code and the only people affected by this are the Jews. People are wondering what their real motivation is.The chairman of Shechitah UK, Henry Grunwald, wrote in the Jewish Chronicle that the ban succumbs to the popular myth that shechitah is painful, ignoring ample evidence to the contrary.Just this month, the European Parliament voted to back the proposal to require special labeling on meat produced by Jewish ritual slaughter. According to the new resolution, which must still be approved by the European Union Commission, the meat would be marked as meat from slaughter without stunning – rendering it less attractive on the general market and driving up prices.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Destruction of First Temple Commemorated with Day of Fasting
by Hillel Fendel JUNE 29,10

The Three Weeks of gradually-increasing mourning over the destruction of the Holy Temples and Israel's exile begins today (Tuesday) with the fast of the 17th of the Hebrew month of Tammuz. This is the day on which Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian forces breached the walls of Jerusalem in 422 BCE, after 18 months of siege, on their way to destroying the First Temple. The Three Weeks end on the 9th of Av - Tisha B'Av - the date on which both the First and Second Temples were destroyed, roughly 2,500 and 2,000 years ago respectively. The 17th of Tammuz marks other calamities in Jewish history as well. It is the date on which Moses, having descended from Mount Sinai for the first time, saw the people sinning with the Golden Calf and broke the first set of Ten Commandments. In addition, the priests of the First Temple era were forced on this day, a year before the Temple's destruction, to stop offering the daily sacrifice due to the shortage of sheep. The Talmud also teaches that on this date some decades earlier, the evil King Menasheh had an idol placed in the Temple's Holy Sanctuary. Later, during Second Temple times, a Roman general placed an idol in the same place and publicly burned the Torah.

The fast ends at 8:11 PM in the Jerusalem area; for other cities, click here .Note that in may cities an hour must be added for Daylight Savings Time. For Hebrew, click here. Mourning customs such as no weddings, parties, or haircuts continue until the morning after Tisha B'Av; there are slight differences between Ashkenazi and Sephardic customs.Maimonides (Rambam) explains that the purpose of days of fasting and mourning is not to remember the hardships suffered by our ancestors, in the same way that we remember days of joy, but rather to awaken [our] hearts and clear the paths to repentance. This reminds us of our evil deeds and those of our forefathers [that] brought these calamities upon them and us. Recalling these matters causes us to better ourselves, as it is written, They shall confess their transgressions and the transgressions of their fathers. Like other fast days, the morning prayers on the 17th of Tammuz include special selichot prayers, mourning our losses and asking for forgiveness. Excerpts from the selichot of the 17th of Tammuz:

We rebelled against Him Who dwells in heaven, therefore we were scattered in all directions... We acted rebelliously before Thee with slandering tongues, therefore our tongues were made to learn to utter lamentation... The tempest-tossed afflicted people were utterly broken up and dispersed; the dry land became a boat wrecked for lack of a captain; she received [punishment] for her sins with principal and double interest, with mourning and moaning... Their adversaries assailed them on that day and... drove the nation like a chased gazelle, and there was none that sought to protect it... Turn to us, O Thou that dwellest on high, gather our dispersed from the four corners of the earth. Say to Zion, Arise! And we shall arise. Convert the 17th of Tammuz into a day of salvation and comfort.(translation by Rev. Abraham Isaac Jacob Rosenfeld)(IsraelNationalNews.com)

TAU Works on Computer Chip Implant to Treat the Brain
by Hana Levi Julian June 29,10

A team of scientists at Tel Aviv University is working on a project that involves implanting a computer chip into the brain in order to treat conditions such as depression and Parkinson's disease.Professor Matti Mintz, a member of the Psychobiology Research Unit at the Department of Psychology, is part of a European consortium that is working on issues relating to neurophysiology, human behavior and mental health. TAU colleague Professor Yossi Shaham-Diamond is also involved, working on the issue of adding sensors while miniaturizing the size of the deep brain electrodes used to deliver the stimulation. Two other TAU scientists, Professor Hagit Messer-Yaron and Dr. Mira Kalish, are also involved in the project as well as partners from Spain, Austria and England. The Rehabilitation Nano Chip (ReNaChip), as it is called, is designed to help doctors connect computer software to the brain. If it is successful, the chip will deliver deep brain stimulation precisely to the areas where it is needed. It is hooked up to tiny electrodes implanted directly into the brain – only the electrodes are implanted. The chip itself can be placed just under the skin, like pacemakers for the heart, explained Mintz, ensuring the brain is stimulated only when it needs to be.However, scientists are working towards a chip that can be made small enough to be etched on to the electrodes themselves, rather than have to be hooked up.It is hoped that such technology may someday be used to treat neurologically-based conditions such as depression, Parkinson's disease and possibly diseases involving damage to specific areas of the brain. DEUTERONOMY 7:7-8
7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people;(ISRAEL) for ye were the fewest of all people:
8 But because the LORD loved you,(ISRAEL) and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

Israeli FM: No Palestinian state by 2012 By Amy Teibel, Associated Press Writer – JUNE 29,10

JERUSALEM – Israel's hard-line foreign minister said Tuesday that there was no chance a Palestinian state would be established by 2012 — a message that threatened to cloud the latest visit by Washington's Mideast envoy. The comments by Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman drew swift Palestinian condemnations and could put Israel at odds with the international community, which has set a 2012 target for brokering a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians. As an optimist, I see no chance that a Palestinian state will be established by 2012, Lieberman said at a news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. We can express interest, we can dream, but in reality, we are still far from reaching understandings and agreements on establishing an independent state by 2012.Russia, along with the U.S., European Union and United Nations, make up the Quartet of Mideast negotiators — an international group that has spent nearly a decade trying to forge a peace agreement.

White House envoy George Mitchell was set to arrive in Israel later Tuesday to mediate a fifth round of indirect talks between the sides. Mitchell is trying to prod Israel and the Palestinians into direct negotiations. It wasn't clear whether Lieberman was expressing his own opinion or government policy. A spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused to comment.Lieberman is a contentious figure because of his support for redrawing Israel's borders to push areas with heavy concentrations of Arabs out of Israel and into Palestinian jurisdiction. He also launched a failed effort in parliament to force Israeli Arabs to take a loyalty oath or lose their citizenship.A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' West Bank government accused Lieberman of defying international efforts to wrap up a deal.

Lieberman is issuing a challenge to the international community, which is in agreement on the two-year ceiling, Ghassan Khatib said.Talks between Palestinians and Israelis resumed in May after a 17-month breakdown. The Palestinians have insisted on U.S. mediation, saying they are frustrated by Israel's refusal to declare a halt to all construction in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, lands they claim for a future state along with the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. The aim is to shift gears to direct talks in late September. But much will depend on whether Israel agrees to extend a construction slowdown it has declared in the West Bank and a de facto moratorium in effect in east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want for a future capital.Abbas said Monday that Israel has not offered enough to make it worthwhile to move to direct talks.Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said in response that direct talks are the only way to solve the conflict. At their news conference, Lieberman and Lavrov expressed very different positions on Hamas, the militant group that rules the Gaza Strip. Israel and many Western countries boycott Hamas as a terror organization, while Russia has contacts with the group.Lavrov recently met with one of the group's Damascus-based leaders. In Jerusalem on Tuesday, he noted that Hamas won Palestinian parliamentary elections in 2006, and said Russia uses its meetings with Hamas to try to persuade the group to become more moderate.Lieberman said Israel was unhappy about this Russian policy. It is not a secret that we don't agree about this, he said. The approach to Hamas is definitely one of the points on which we do not agree.Associated Press writer Diaa Hadid contributed to this report from Jerusalem.

EZEKIEL 39:21
21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.

ISAIAH 18:1-2
1 Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:
2 That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!

JEREMIAH 50:11,37,12
11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;(BACKSLIDERS)
37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.(A NATION OF MINGLED PEOPLE)
12 Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed:(MOTHER ENGLAND) behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

JEREMIAH 51:13,7,53
13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.
7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

REVELATION 18:3,5,7
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.

JEREMIAH 50:3,24
3 For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.
24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD. (RUSSIA A SNEAK ATTACK ON AMERICA)

REVELATION 18:9-11,15-21
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,(NUKE ATTACK I BELIEVE)
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

10 alleged Russian secret agents arrested in US By PETE YOST, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 28,10

WASHINGTON – Ten people have been arrested for allegedly serving as secret agents of the Russian government with the goal of penetrating U.S. government policymaking circles .The Justice Department announced the arrests Monday.According to court papers in the case, the U.S. government intercepted a message from Russian intelligence headquarters in Moscow to two of the defendants. The message states that their main mission is to search and develop ties in policymaking circles in US and send intelligence reports. The court papers cited numerous examples of communications intercepted by U.S. investigators that spelled out what the 10 allegedly were trying to do.One message back to Moscow from the defendants focused on turnover at the top level of the CIA and the 2008 U.S. presidential election.

The information was described as having been received in private conversation with, among others, a former legislative counsel for Congress. The court papers deleted the name of the counsel.Another intercepted message said one of the defendants living in New Jersey, known as Cynthia Murphy, had several work-related personal meetings with a man the court papers describe as a prominent New York-based financier who was active in politics. In response, intelligence headquarters in Moscow described the man as a very interesting target and urged the defendants to try to build up little by little relations. ... Maybe he can provide Murphy with remarks re US foreign policy, roumors about White house internal kitchen, invite her to venues (to major political party HQ in NYC, for instance. ... In short, consider carefully all options in regard to the financier. The court papers described the defendants communicating with purported Russian agents using a method not previously described in espionage cases here: by establishing a short-range wireless network between laptop computers of the agents and sending encrypted messages between the computers while they were near each other. The papers also said that on Saturday an undercover FBI agent in New York and another in Washington, both posing as Russian agents, met with two of the defendants, Anna Chapman at a New York restaurant and Mikhail Semenko on a Washington street corner blocks from the White House.

Russia: US alleged spy arrests Cold War throwback By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 29,10

MOSCOW – Russia angrily denounced the U.S. arrest of 10 alleged Russian spies as an unjustified throwback to the Cold War, and senior lawmakers said some in the U.S. government may be trying to undercut President Barack Obama's warming relations with Moscow. The Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday it was regrettable that the arrests came amid Obama's push for a reset in Russian-U.S. ties. These actions are unfounded and pursue unseemly goals," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. We don't understand the reasons which prompted the U.S. Department of Justice to make a public statement in the spirit of Cold War-era spy stories. The arrests of what U.S. officials described as a deeply embedded Russian espionage network active for many years follow a string of other spy scandals that have roiled ties between Moscow and Washington since the end of the Cold War. The FBI bust — the biggest such case in years — would again put their relations to a test.Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that U.S. authorities announced the arrest just days after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev visited the United States. They haven't explained to us what this is about,Lavrov said at a news conference during a visit to Jerusalem. I hope they will. The only thing I can say today is that the moment for doing that has been chosen with special elegance.Medvedev met with Obama at the White House last week after the Russian leader visited high-tech firms in California's Silicon Valley. The two presidents went out for cheeseburgers, exchanged jokes and walked together in the park, underlining efforts to reset ties.

The FBI has arrested 10 people who allegedly spied for Russia for up to a decade, posing as innocent civilians while trying to infiltrate U.S. policymaking circles and learn about U.S. weapons, diplomatic strategy and politics. An 11th defendant, a man accused of delivering money to the agents, remains at large. The arrests followed a multiyear FBI investigation.Nikolai Kovalyov, the former chief of the main KGB successor agency, the Federal Security Service, said some of the U.S. charges against the alleged spies resembled a bad spy novel.Would you act like that in the 21st century? he said in a reference to allegations that agents retrieved cash that had been buried in the ground years before.Kovalyov, now a lawmaker, said the arrests were an attempt by some hawkish circles in the United States to demonstrate the need for a tougher line toward Moscow. Kovalyov added that Russian-U.S. ties will continue to improve despite the spy scandal. Our two great powers must stand together, he said.He said Russia would reciprocate only if the American don't stop at that and risk evicting our diplomats, the ITAR-Tass news agency reported. He added that it would be unlikely.Foreign Ministry spokesman Igor Lyakin-Frolov told The Associated Press the information given by U.S. authorities looked contradictory. He wouldn't comment further. The main Russian spy agency, the Foreign Intelligence Service, known by its Russian acronym SVR, refused to comment on the arrests.

Alexander Torshin, a deputy speaker of the Russian parliament's upper house, sought to downplay the arrests and said they are unlikely to derail efforts to improve Russian-U.S. ties. It's not a return to the Cold War, and I'm sure that this incident won't develop into a large-scale spy scandal, Torshin said, according to the state RIA Novosti news agency. He said agreements reached during Medvedev's visit to the United States last week signaled that relations between Moscow and Washington have reached a new higher level. But another senior lawmaker, a deputy chairman of the security affairs committee in the lower house of parliament, Vladimir Kolesnikov, told RIA Novosti the arrests signaled that some quarters in the U.S. government oppose warmer ties with Russia. Regrettably, there are people in America burdened by the legacy of the Cold War, the legacy of double standards, he said. And they react improperly to the warming of relations spearheaded by the presidents. It's a blow to President Obama.Kolesnikov, a former deputy prosecutor general, said U.S. secret agents are continuing to work in Russia and suggested that Russia could respond in a tit-for-tat manner.Previously we have quietly evicted some of them, he said. Now I think we should more actively apply criminal legislation against them. However, Kolesnikov is not believed to have close ties to the Kremlin or knowledge of the government's plans.Associated Press Writer Matti Friedman contributed to this report from Jerusalem.

US Military Chief: Doesn’t Trust Iran but Israel, US in Synch
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu JUNE 29,10

Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of U.S. Joint Chief of Staffs, returned home from Israel and said that although he has no reason to trust Iran, Israel knows that attacking the Islamic Republic's nuclear sites would be incredibly destabilizing. He acknowledged that it would be incredibly dangerous if Iran builds nuclear weapons, which Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director Leon Panetta said Sunday are not within Iran’s capability for at least one year.Speaking at a security conference, Admiral Mullen did not venture to predict what will happen up to the point when Iran can achieve the capability of manufacturing a nuclear weapon and a long-range missile that can explode it over Israel. He shot down the idea that Israel would stage a military strike to delay or destroy Iran’s nuclear development, saying that Israel is in synch with the American thinking. He acknowledged that the biggest problem for the United States is how much it does not know about Iran’s nuclear program. The U.S. National Intelligence and Defense Intelligence Agency directors told a U.S. Senate committee last year that there were no indications that Iran is refining uranium. The conclusion angered Israel, which has warned several times that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad means what he says when he talks about the need to wipe Israel off the map.

Few analysts have said that the recently passed United Nations Security Council sanctions against Israel will convince Iran to stop producing enriched uranium without United Nations nuclear inspections. High-grade enriched uranium is a key element for producing a nuclear bomb. Mullen’s visit to Israel Sunday was the 15th time he has met with IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi since taking office in 2007. He said that he considers Chief of Staff Ashkenazi a personal friend and that he always tries to share Israel’s view of threats against the country. (IsraelNationalNews.com)

Damage done mainly by white middle class punks who are known as anarchists
Who was responsible for the violence in Toronto? By Arthur Weinreb Monday, June 28, 2010 CANADA FREE PRESS

It could have been worse. Major damage arising from the protests against the G8 and G20 only occurred during Saturday’s protests and marches. While there were many more arrests made on Sunday, no major damage to the city occurred on that day. On Saturday, four police cruisers were torched. Windows of banks and of course Starbucks were smashed along with that of other businesses including mom and pop stores. Bottles and other objects were thrown at police by the mainly white middle class punks who are known as anarchists. One fact that is not in dispute is that there was a large police contingent; made up of police officers from all over Canada, on both days of the protests. So there must be a reason why major damage was done on Saturday but not on Sunday.Real responsibility lies with the Ontario Federation of Labour and other groups So who was responsible for all the violence? Well, the anarchists themselves, many of whom came from far away with the sole purpose of damaging private and public property. These pampered children rail against, among other things big oil that surely must be happy at all the gas they used to get here. Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the police will certainly be blamed for the massive police presence that the left will argue provoked the peaceful protesters into taking action. But the real responsibility lies with the Ontario Federation of Labour and other groups who organized their family-friendly demonstration in which approximately 10,000 people took part in.

It’s all about rights and nothing about responsibilities Yes, they had a right to demonstrate. Every time Toronto Mayor David Miller and his politically correct police chief opened their mouths, their comments were always prefaced with the phrase that people have the right to demonstrate. The organizers of Saturday’s protests clearly illustrate what’s wrong with society today; it’s all about rights and nothing about responsibilities. From what had transpired during past G8 and G20 summits, these organizers knew or ought to have known that anarchists and other groups that were bent on destruction would use the peaceful march as a cover to remain hidden until they felt the time was right to wreak havoc and cause wanton destruction. These labour unions hold demonstrations, marches and protests all the time and they had a right to protest but they didn’t have to protest on that particular day. The truth is that even though they intended to march and demonstrate peacefully, the only rational conclusion that can be drawn is that they really didn’t mind facilitating the anarchists’ objectives of doing significant property damage in downtown Toronto. The organizers and their supporters that included families with little children acted as useful idiots for all those who were intent on causing as much damage as possible. The organizers of the peaceful demonstration justified their holding the march by saying that they had a message that they wanted to deliver to the G20 leaders. What a croc! Whatever their message was, the leaders were safely tucked away, unable to hear it. The leaders will only know what they picked up from the media. The media. Sticking to the principle of if it bleeds, it leads, most of the media focused on the damage, especially the torched police cars. If the focus was not the damage or the many standoffs between the police and protesters, it was to tell the stories of the poor little dears who were arrested. We learned from some of the media that they were all innocent. INN O CENT! And in case anyone who is reading this spent the entire weekend watching CP24, there actually was a summit held in Toronto where world leaders discussed issues like the economy. They were on the other side of the fence.

The organizers of the demonstration knew or ought to have known that their message had virtually no chance of getting out this past weekend, with the anarchists in town.On Sunday, when there was no large peaceful demonstration for the little punks to hide in there was virtually no damage done. Those who organized and took part in the organized march on Saturday facilitated the damage that was done to the city; without them it would not have occurred. But they will never acknowledge that fact.

Yes, they had a right to demonstrate; but they took no responsibility aiding and sheltering those who caused the damage. It’s too much to expect the peaceful people to take any responsibility. They could have held a massive rally and marched on any other weekend and had a better chance of getting their message out. But that’s just too much to ask.

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

REVELATION 18:10,17,19
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

EZEKIEL 7:19
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

OBAMA HAPPENINGS

Confidence is tanking with Obama! Gee, I wonder why By Laurie Roth June 24,10

According to the Wall Street Journal, the President’s level of support is at new lows. 62% of Americans believe the country is going in the wrong direction. Since there are so many destructive and un-American policies and orders flying around by the Obama regime, let’s just focus on one nightmare, the BP oil spill. How has Obama’s leadership gone so far with the Gulf oil spill disaster? First of all, Obama didn’t even go down to Louisiana to assess the severity of this disaster and danger for 12 days. He knew early on how serious the explosion was and how potentially devastating to the gulf economy, yet he couldn’t show up. Maybe his golf game or White House rock concert took longer than he thought. I know, being President means you are very busy.Early on this President denied any financial and equipment help offers from at least 13 countries. I stand in amazement at the arrogance and stupidity in judgment of this President who desperately needed the help offered but said a big fat no to the world. Also, Governor Bobby Jindel has been beside himself, begging for the Government to dig the berms for nearly 2 months to deflect the fast approaching oil from his pristine Louisiana coastlines. Instead of swift action in response to the Governors real emergency, the Obama official instead started an Environmental Impact Study and went on the Internet for public response. Meanwhile the oil creeps closer in by the hour. Where is my headache medication?

We have seen the politically correct nonsense of the coast guard off the gulf course as well. They stopped 16 large barges who had been collecting oil in response to the emergency because they couldn’t verify enough life jackets and fire extinguishers on board. Everything was shut down. Does that even remotely pass the laugh test? Here the barges were fighting time, trying to gather up the oil so it didn’t completely ruin the local economy, animals and plants and the Coast Guard thought now was the time to inspect the barges responding to the emergency??? Could this not have been done after the critical phase of the gulf emergency? Why wasn’t it done later? I put this hideous judgment and lack of priorities in this crises right in Obama’s lap….again. Why didn’t he intercede and keep the barges going? Could it be he is benefiting from the disaster? Did the Obama Government learn anything from the first two months from this disaster? Are they finally dredging and putting in the much needed and requested berms? NO, NO and NO. Instead we see more environmental lectures from hell from this administration. The Federal Government has stopped the dredging of berms off the coast of New Orleans. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department apparently has much concern as to where the sand is being dredged from. The State was told to install a pipe and they haven’t had a chance yet. The Feds don’t want sand being dredged from the more sensitive area of the Chandeleur Islands. Once again we see the absurd response in time of crises by this Obama regime. When tons of oil is rushing towards your shores threatening to destroy decades of business and tourism is it the time to analyze the endless needs of types of sand being used to build a berm? We have heard Obama saying he will kick some people’s asses, he feels the victims pain, and he wants everyone to sue BP and line up for the fund.It seems the only ass to kick is his own in this disaster.

Wins and losses for EU at G20
ANDREW WILLIS 28.06.2010 @ 09:28 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - A range of compromise agreements enabled leaders to save face on Sunday (27 June) as the Group of 20 meeting in Canada drew to a close. A declaration on cutting national budgetary deficits in half by 2013 was heralded as a victory by EU politicians, but European hopes for a global bank levy fell by the wayside. The summit's result reflects widespread convergence around Europe's approach,European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said in a joint declaration after the event. Major G20 states had already agreed to similar deficit-slashing targets prior to the Canadian meeting however, with language on the continued need for short-term stimulus measures reflecting US concerns.Recent weeks have seen Washington engage in a war of words with a number of European capitals over concerns that European countries' austerity drives could put the brakes on the world's tentative economic recovery.

US President Barack Obama welcomed the G20 compromise agreement, but warned his country would no longer remain the global consumer of last resort. No nation should assume its path to prosperity is paved with exports to America,he said. Leaders also agreed to stabilise their debt levels by 2016, a statement designed to reassure jumpy financial markets that governments are serious about learning to live within their means. Weak language in the final communique highlighted the divergency of views on a global bank levy, with countries that avoided the worst of the financial crisis such as Canada, Australia and Brazil, opposing the idea. Instead, leaders agreed that there is a range of possible policy approaches for making banks pay a fair and substantial contribution toward future bank bail-outs. Some countries are pursuing a financial levy. Other countries are pursuing different approaches, said the summit's final statement.Should countries such as Germany, France and the UK decide to push ahead anyway, the weekend's decision means European levies are likely to be smaller as a result, in order to prevent banks simply moving to more lenient jurisdictions.

Bank Capital

Progress was made on the question of capital buffers for banks, a measure intended to ensure financial firms can better withstand economic shocks in the future. Under the plans, set to be finalised at the next G20 meeting this November, banks will be compelled to hold more top-grade capital. The amount of capital will be significantly higher and the quality of capital will be significantly improved when the reforms are fully implemented, said the final communique. In a move to allay European concerns that the new requirements could stifle lending if implemented too quickly, the previously mooted 2012 deadline for the shift was scrapped. The phase-in will now reflect different starting points and circumstances of G20 member states.
Meanwhile police said over 600 people had been arrested over the course of the weekend, as peaceful protests turned violent on Saturday. Windows were broken and police cars set on fire.

Ashton to take command of US-type situation room-President Barack Obama meets with security advisors in the White House situation room. Ms Ashton is to get a similar set-up, but with vastly, vastly less power (Photo: The White House)ANDREW RETTMAN 27.06.2010 @ 17:25 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - You see it in the movies: fighting has broken out somewhere in the former Soviet Union, the US president walks into his situation room, monitors are showing satellite images, security advisors are shouting at each other, the president is given a briefing note and sends an agent to gather intelligence. Now, the EU's foreign relations chief, Catherine Ashton, is to get a situation room of her own.

The EU version will not be like Hollywood.

Ms Ashton will not have an army or a European Intelligence Service to send into action. The centre-left British politician, a former activist in the anti-nuclear CND group, is said to distrust military types and her first priority is the kitchen-sink construction of the European External Action Service (EEAS).But she has already told EU leaders that she wants a single crisis response centre under her direct command and internal discussion on the Ashton situation room is at an advanced stage. One scenario under consideration is a crisis directorate run by a director general and situated close to Ms Ashton's office in the EEAS headquarters, most likely in the so-called Triangle building facing the EU Council in the heart of the EU quarter in Brussels. It would have a staff of some 160 people and a modest budget of €10 to €20 million a year. The situation room itself would have a conference table and banks of monitors showing breaking news and commercial satellite pictures of hotspots. In the back-rooms, the crisis directorate would have a team of IT experts, scientists and tacticians scouring open source data in search of conflict threats, such as plans by UK private security firm Saracen International to build a pirate-fighting base in Somalia.Ms Ashton's exclusive information would come from officials manning 24/7 hotlines to the EU's 136 foreign delegations and 14 civilian and military missions. Another unit would send people to crisis zones at short notice on fact-finding trips. A cell of secret-service agents seconded from key EU states would pass Ms Ashton's queries to spy agencies such as the UK's MI6 or France's DGSE and file replies.

The European Commission's existing Crisis Room and the EU Council's Joint Situation Centre (SitCen) are to form the backbone of the crisis directorate. SitCen already sends people into the field. When war broke out in Georgia in 2008 it dispatched two analysts to re-inforce the EUSR [the EU special envoy to the South Caucasus] with reporting,a contact familiar with SitCen operations told this website. In an insight into the opaque bureau's work, the source added: These are fairly normal people who have perhaps in their lives had some experience of being out in the field in a place less comfortable than Washington. They are not spooks by any means. We avoid anybody who even looks like one. They are people who can write reports. Who do not mind not staying in five star hotels. Who know how to take precautions when they go out at night. The new set-up is to see Ms Ashton simply pick up the phone or walk down the hall and task people to go overseas or to query EU countries' secret services. Current bureaucracy means that 27 EU ambassadors in the Political and Security Committee first hold a debate before tasking SitCen.The idea is to give the EU foreign relations chief a powerful asset when she asks EU foreign ministers to deploy an EU battlegroup or if she decides to send an EEAS diplomat, or even a prominent MEP, on a peace mission.Today, if you go through the normal channels to make a threat assessment in Kosovo, for example, by the time the [SitCen] officer gets to Pristina, it's all over, one PSC ambassador told this website.Imagine how effective the high representative could be if the new SitCen was to function like her shadow cabinet,a contact in the EU institutions said. Member states are afraid to give away power. But this could be the new mega-commodity in Brussels.

Wider or deeper?

One question is whether the crisis response centre will handle man-made conflicts only, or natural disasters and pandemics also. The wider portfolio could provoke turf wars between Ms Ashton and aid and development commissioners Kristalina Georgieva and Andris Piebalgs. It could also dilute EEAS resources, perpetuating the existing problems of overlooked and forgotten conflicts. But the big question is: who will be Ms Ashton's right-hand man? Former UK soldier and diplomat William Shapcott, who built and ran SitCen, walked away in June to a new position in the EU Council administration, creating the risk that his successor might take a minimalist approach to the job.One candidate for the post is French diplomat Patrice Bergamini, who worked close to Ms Ashton's predecessor, Javier Solana, and helped draft the EU's first security strategy in 2003. His appointment would give France a monopoly on the EEAS security side, however. French diplomat Christine Roger is to be the new PSC president. French official Claude-France Arnould is the new head of the EU Council's civilian-military crisis planning office. A French secret service agent manages SitCen's intelligence-sharing cell. And French diplomat Pierre Vimont is tipped to become EEAS secretary general, in charge of the body's internal security structures. It would be good to have a German appointment to make sure that Germany is engaged at the highest levels. Somebody with a diplomatic and a security or intelligence background, the source in the EU institutions said.Nationality can be overplayed. Intel is sensitive, so in that sense you do not want to play up the [director's] national connections, the contact familiar with SitCen's work said.

New Belgian government could hamper EU presidency-Yves Leterme, the caretaker Prime Minister will still be in power when Belgium formally takes over the EU helm on 1 July (Photo: consilium.europa.eu)ANDREW WILLIS Today JUNE 29,10 @ 09:28 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - Belgian policymakers have indicated that the speedy formation of a new Belgian government may not be in the interests of the country's EU presidency. The sources said that the current caretaker administration has worked out a detailed agenda for the coming six months which could be put in jeopardy by the advent of a new government. The current government still has full powers, a senior Belgian official told press in an off-the-record briefing on Sunday (27 June).Everything we have decided on for the EU presidency has been agreed by all parties from both French and Flemish-speaking communities. The current set of ministers has built up detailed knowledge of the issues set to dominate the presidency's to-do list as well as constructive personal relationships with their EU counterparts, another contact said. The danger is that the new government forms just at the moment of another crisis in the EU, the second Belgian official explained, citing a potential member state application to the eurozone's recently-agreed emergency funding mechanism as an example. The comments - which could be seen by cynics as designed to help the existing cabinet stay in power for longer - come after Belgian snap elections on 13 June. The election saw the New-Flemish Alliance party of Bart De Wever, who advocates splitting Belgium in two, win the most seats, with coalition-forming talks threatening to drag out for months.Concern has been raised in EU circles over the transitionary government's ability to effectively chair the 27-member union. Earlier delays in producing the agenda for next month's meeting of EU finance ministers have already been cited as one example.

Reaching agreement between the European Parliament and member states on the EU's financial supervisory package, tackling ballooning budget deficits and boosting the bloc's anemic growth prospects are among the daunting challenges faced by the small state's civil servants, who are already working overtime. While federal ministers are set to chair the majority of meetings over the six-month period, Belgian regional ministers will co-ordinate a number of council formats, including the fisheries, environment, and research portfolios. As a result, prominent environment ministers from across the union could sit down to discuss the day's pertinent issues with Flanders' centre-right minister for environment, Joke Schauvliege. Meanwhile, climate discussions will be chaired by centre-left federal politician Paul Magnette.

The Belgian sources added that former Belgian PM Herman Van Rompuy's new role as EU Council president will help Belgium sell the idea of a low-key presidency to ordinary Belgians.National politicians traditionally use their tenure at the EU helm to try to shine on the world stage. But Belgium has indicated it will take a back seat following the coming into force of the Lisbon Treaty last year, which thrust the EU Council head and the new EU foreign relations chief, Catherine Ashton, into the foreground instead. It's like a perfect Belgian strategy, a senior Belgian policymaker joked, on Mr Van Rompuy's Belgian roots. They would have thought we were sissies otherwise. The handover from the current Spanish presidency will take place this Thursday (1 July), but the Belgians are planning a ceremonial bash for Saturday, during which the somewhat drab European quarter in Brussels will be animated by fireworks, music and dancing.

EU privacy rules changing US companies
VALENTINA POP Today JUNE 29,10 @ 09:25 CET

EUOBSERVER / NEW YORK – EU data privacy rules are shaping a change of attitude in American companies when dealing with information collected from their customers, but the US is still far from considering data protection as a basic human right.Whoever bought a book online or opened an email account with Google has already experienced it: tailor-made advertising landing in their inbox, based on a personal profile created by the company. The term behavioural advertising is a commonplace in marketing strategies, particularly in US-based companies such as Yahoo, Amazon or Facebook. It is seen as a reliable revenue-making tool on the Internet. But privacy issues arise especially when personal information is aggregated and passed on to other companies or when the government taps into the data warehouses held by private companies in order to track down criminals or terrorism suspects. A fundamental difference between the EU and the US' approach to data privacy is the question of ownership, law and privacy experts told a group of European journalists in New York last week.In Europe, data protection is granted even after the consumer has passed on the data, while in the US, the company's understanding is that once it has the information, it can do whatever it wants with it.When we explain to a US company for the first time how data privacy laws work in Europe, they say you must be kidding? It takes a few years to acclimate to that, said privacy lawyer Lisa J Sotto from Hunton & Williams, a New York based law firm. Ms Sotto argued that the cultural difference between the two continents stems from history. Here, privacy is not a fundamental human right, instead it's a consumer protection interest. In Europe, where people could have been put to death because of their data, here they were marketed to to death, she said.

A self-certifing scheme dubbed Safe Harbour, encompassing some 2,200 US companies, helps businesses comply with EU data protection law when doing business with European customers. Under the agreement, the Federal Trade Commission can put companies under increased scrutiny for up to 20 years and even give fines if they violate the terms they subscribed to. There is a move in having companies Safe Harbour-certified in a way that is fundamentally different from five years ago. Companies are much more tuned to the fact that they need to comply with the set of [data privacy] principles in a very significant way. It's not a rubber stamp at all, Ms Sotto said.Big companies have started to put in place chief privacy officers both in the US and in their European branches and in the upcoming years there will be even more of a push for very formal data protection structures within these businesses. But critics point to the low enforcement levels of the data protection rules and the fact that in its 10 years of existence, Safe Harbour has seen only seven cases brought to court in the US - all were companies wrongly stating they were part of the scheme, not actual non-compliance cases. None were notified to EU data protection authorities. No US company is in compliance with the EU data protection directive. If this directive was applied thoroughly, US companies couldn't do business in the EU, Adam Levitin from Georgetown Law School said. He explained that the system of self-certification meant that American businesses were only paying lip service to requirements such as access to and correction of data, security and integrity of the information and no automatic use for other purposes than the one stated in the notice to consumers. While big online names such as Yahoo, Google or Facebook are part of the Safe Harbour scheme, most US air carriers are not.

Nobody from the air sector is in Safe Harbour: Delta, American Airlines, none of them are. When you give them the information in Europe, I am sure beyond any doubt that the information goes to Atlanta (US), Edward Janger from Brooklyn Law School said.He pointed to the fact that these companies are subject to EU law if their branches operate on European soil, but that there is little scrutiny of their responsibilities. I don't know of any EU audit on whether these companies have adequate data protection,he said.

Swift agreement

One company which is part of the Safe Harbour agreement is Swift, the Belgian-based financial communications company handling some 80 percent of the world's international bank transactions.Ms Sotto's legal firm has helped Swift comply with EU data protection laws, despite its image being seriously dented by the scandal which broke out in 2006, when it emerged that the US government was secretly tapping into the company's data as part of an anti-terrorism program. We helped Swift solely with the Safe Harbour certification, not the law enforcement side. From my perspective, it was a whole bunch of nonsense. The data was being transferred in a secure way. They just put a legal framework around it, which is fine, but it cost a lot of money in legal fees, she said, in reference to the years of legal wrangling with the EU.The Swift saga seems to be nearing its end, however, as the EU and the US on Monday (28 June) formally put their signatures on a legal agreement likely to be approved by the European Parliament next week after gaining some extra layers of auditing and control over the program. Back in February, the legislature rejected an interim deal, citing privacy concerns and an inter-institutional quarrel. The veto interrupted the data flow from Swift's European server to the US authorities, triggering concerns in Washington at the security gap created thereby. If the deal wins the approval of Parliament next week, Swift will resume sending data on 1 August, including for the months lapsed since February.

Tougher budget sanctions to cover all EU funds-Close-up of euro banknote showing Greece and Italy: states that break the EU's budgetary rules could see funding from Brussels withheld (Photo: Alessandro Marotta)ANDREW WILLIS 28.06.2010 @ 09:15 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - EU member states that break the bloc's budgetary rules could see their EU payments withheld, including weighty farm handouts, under plans to be presented by the European Commission this Wednesday (30 June).Current rules already allow EU cohesion funds to be withheld, although in practice this has never happened, but sources suggest the upcoming communication will seek to widen the net of potential financial sanctions to all EU payments. Eastern European states led by Poland have recently complained that concentrating sanctions on a suspension of EU cohesion funds, intended to boost development in the EU's poorer regions, unfairly targets less well-off countries. By including farm payments, roughly 40 percent of the EU's €120 billion annual budget, together with varying types of structural funds, the commission proposals would greatly increase the size and scope of potential fines for member states that break the Stability and Growth Pact. The pact limits deficits to 3 percent of GDP and debt to 60 percent of GDP, but both barriers have been breached by numerous member states, even before the financial crisis took hold.Wednesday's text, which is still subject to changes, seeks to narrow the scope of a commission communication on European economic governance published in May, taking into account a series of member state positions that have been revealed since then.

Controversial non-financial sanctions backed by Germany, such as the suspension of voting rights for national ministers attending meetings in Brussels, are unlikely to appear in the document.Greater emphasis is set to be placed on government debt levels, with an excessive debt procedure involving suggestions from Brussels on how member states should reduce their debt piles, likely to mimic the reporting system under the current excessive deficit procedure. With the crisis leading to calls for structural economic forms, the communication is also set to list a number of macroeconomic indicators, such as the evolution of salaries, that could be used to help monitor national competitiveness levels.States that fall behind in this area could also potentially receive a financial penalty. The commission intends to bring forward the necessary legislative proposals this September in order to turn the suggested list of tougher budgetary measures into law. With EU officials hoping to start a new European Semester system in the spring of 2011, under which member states would peer review the main headings of each others' national budgets, the clock is ticking to complete the necessary legislative steps under the up-coming Belgian EU presidency. A feeling that a unique window of opportunity exists at the moment is also adding to the sense of urgency, with a return to stronger economic growth likely to diminish the reformist zeal created by eurozone's fiscal crisis.

Rescuers search for 107 in China landslide By CHI-CHI ZHANG, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 29,10

BEIJING – Hope of finding survivors was diminishing Tuesday as rescuers used heavy machinery including bulldozers to search for at least 107 people trapped under a landslide in rain-hit southwestern China.Villagers huddled in tents set up at the site as rescuers searched for their family members. But there appeared to be little hope for survival, with no word on casualties or survivors by noon Tuesday, said Tian Maosheng, an official from Guizhou Communist Party Propaganda Department, who is helping with the rescue. The number 107 remains unchanged, and there is still no sign of life here, he said.Homes were buried when the landslide struck the village of Dazhai in Guizhou province on Monday afternoon after days of torrential rains. An official interviewed by state broadcaster CCTV said nearly half a hill had collapsed.

Makeshift tents were set up as first aid stations and soldiers carrying villagers waded through water and mud as they evacuated more than 360 residents since Monday, CCTV showed.Light rain on Tuesday morning hindered rescue efforts, threatening to wash more mud down the slopes, but began to subside later in the day.CCTV showed rescuers in orange overalls along a winding mountain road and later bent over a large mound of earth, tugging at large concrete slabs buried in it.Large areas of southern China have been hit by flooding in the last two weeks, with at least 377 people killed and another 142 missing — not including those from Monday's landslide. More than 3 million people have fled their homes over the past two weeks, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs. On Sunday, floodwaters began receding in the hard-hit south and workers finished repairing a dike breach that forced the evacuation of 100,000 people. The large landslide is about 120 miles (200 kilometers) southwest of Guiyang, the provincial capital.

Strengthening Alex expected to become hurricane By MIGUEL ANGEL HERNANDEZ, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 29,10

VILLAHERMOSA, Mexico – A strengthening Tropical Storm Alex was expected to become a hurricane Tuesday as it swirled toward the Gulf coast of northern Mexico and southern Texas, where authorities were readying emergency shelters and distributing sandbags.Forecasters said the storm's likely path would take it away from the site of the huge Gulf of Mexico oil spill off Louisiana's coast, but added that it might push oil farther inland and disrupt cleanup efforts.Alex had maximum sustained winds near 70 mph (110 kph) early Tuesday, and the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami predicted the storm would grow into a hurricane sometime Tuesday as it headed toward the U.S.-Mexico border at the mouth of the Rio Grande. Landfall seemed likely Wednesday night.Forecaster Todd Kimberlain said conditions Monday led the center to conclude the storm would be a less powerful hurricane than initially thought.

Tropical storm-force winds extended up to 105 miles (165 kilometers) from the storm's center, and Alex was moving toward the north-northwest at 8 mph (13 kph).A hurricane warning was posted for the Texas coast from Baffin Bay, 100 miles (160 kilometers) south to the mouth of the Rio Grande river and on a further 225 miles (360 kilometers) to La Cruz, Mexico. Except for the border area itself, both regions are lightly populated.Workers along the South Texas coast were clearing drainage ditches, filling sandbags and positioning heavy equipment and water pumps as well as preparing emergency shelters. Some cities also handed out sandbags to residents and urged people to make preparations.Mexico's northern Gulf coast braced for heavy rains like those that fell on southern areas and parts of Central America earlier. It is a fact we are going to get very heavy rains, said Gov. Fidel Herrera of the Gulf coast state of Veracruz.Forecasters said rain from Alex would keep falling on southern Mexico and Guatemala into Tuesday, raising the possibility of life-threatening floods and mudslides. The hurricane center estimated that Alex would dump five to 10 inches (12.5 to 25 centimeters) or rain over portions of northeastern Mexico and southern Texas over the next few days.Heavy rains in Mexico's southern Gulf coast state of Tabasco forced the evacuation of about 300 families from communities near the Usumacinta river.Alex caused flooding and mudslides that caused at least five deaths in Central America over the weekend, though Belize and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula appeared largely unscathed.

The storm made landfall in Belize on Saturday night as a tropical storm and weakened into a depression on Sunday as it crossed the Yucatan Peninsula. When Alex became the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, officials immediately worried what effect it could have on efforts to contain the millions of gallons (liters) of crude spewing into the northeastern part of the Gulf.A cap has been placed over the blown-out undersea well, directing some of the oil to a surface ship where it is being collected or burned. Other ships are drilling two relief wells, projected to be done by August, which are considered the best hope to stop the leak.Stacy Stewart, senior hurricane specialist at the U.S. hurricane center, said early Monday that Alex's center wasn't expected to approach the oil spill site, but the storm's outer wind field could push more oil onto land and hinder operations in the area.
Alex was centered about 460 miles (735 kilometers) southeast of Brownsville, Texas, early Tuesday. Its rains could reach Veracruz and the border state of Tamaulipas late Tuesday or Wednesday, the hurricane center said.Associated Press writers David Fischer in Miami and Sofia Mannos in Washington contributed to this report.

Cybersecurity Measures Will Mandate Government ID Tokens To Use The Internet
Gargantuan move against Internet freedom accelerates into high gear
Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones Prison Planet.com Monday, June 28, 2010

The move to shut down and regulate the Internet under a new government-controlled system has accelerated into high gear with the announcement that the government’s cybersecurity strategy revolves around issuing Internet users with ID tokens without which they will not be able to visit websites, the latest salvo against web freedom which, in combination with Senator Joe Lieberman’s kill switch bill, will serve to eviscerate the free Internet as we know it.Under the guise of cybersecurity, the government is moving to discredit and shut down the existing Internet infrastructure in the pursuit of a new, centralized, regulated world wide web.It is important to stress that cybersecurity has nothing to do with protecting the infrastructure of the United States and everything to do with taking over the Internet. Cybersecurity is about attacking non-compliant Internet users, not defending against hackers. Non-compliance equates as using the Internet as a political tool to dissent against the policies of the U.S. government. Having already tried and failed in flooding the web with paid disinformation agents, the government is now turning to its only recourse, exploiting hyped or outright staged cyberattacks as an excuse through which to implement an Internet 2 system controlled and regulated solely by the authorities. We are constantly told that the Internet needs to be subject to government control because cyberterrorists could hack in and bring down the national power grid. However, the vast majority of the U.S. power infrastructure is not connected to the Internet. It will only be connected to the Internet if the government accelerates the implementation of smart grid technology, so in this sense, the government itself is leaving the power grid more vulnerable to hackers by its own programs.

Threats against computer networks in the United States are grossly exaggerated. Dire reports issued by the Defense Science Board and the Center for Strategic and International Studies are usually richer in vivid metaphor — with fears of digital Pearl Harbors and cyber-Katrinas — than in factual foundation, writes Evgeny Morozov, a Belarus-born researcher and blogger who writes on the political effects of the internet.Morozov notes that much of the data on the supposed cyber threat are gathered by ultra-secretive government agencies — which need to justify their own existence — and cyber-security companies — which derive commercial benefits from popular anxiety.Should the government go ahead and try to exercise the powers it is now on the verge of acquiring, we’d expect to see the Internet shut down for a few days in order to prevent some kind of contrived cyberattack blamed on terrorists. Sure, there will be problems, but large corporations will raise little dissent safe in the knowledge that the Lieberman legislation gives them immunity from civil lawsuits and also ensures they are reimbursed for any costs incurred if the Internet is shut down for a period of time. After a series of shutdowns, the government will simply demand that every corporation or individual who wants to operate a website first obtain a license and an individual Internet ID. Such licenses will be revoked for anyone who engages in hate speech, which is now so broad a term that it encompasses offending anyone on the Internet. The result will be a sterile and regulated Internet which more closely resembles cable TV than the true open source, outpost of free speech that we have come to know and love. This exact strategy was outlined in a paper published by Obama’s cybersecurity co-ordinator Howard Schmidt, which was compiled with the aid of the National Security Council. The strategy revolves around, The creation of a system for identity management that would allow citizens to use additional authentication techniques, such as physical tokens or modules on mobile phones, to verify who they are before buying things online or accessing such sensitive information as health or banking records, reports the FInancial Times.Only with this government-issued token will Internet users be allowed to able to move from website to website, a system not too far removed from what China proposed and rejected for being too authoritarian.

It is imperative that everyone redouble their efforts to bring attention to this matter because Lieberman’s bill is on the verge of passing the Senate and it will hand the government total control over the Internet unless we can alert enough organizations from across the political spectrum to oppose this monstrosity in unison. The true nature of the cybersecurity agenda was revealed when Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley that his 197-page Protecting Cyberspace as a National Asset Act (PDF) legislation was part of an effort to mimic China’s control of the Internet.
Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too, said Lieberman. The Senator’s reference to China is a telling revelation of what the cybersecurity agenda is really all about. China’s vice-like grip over its Internet systems has very little to do with war and everything to do with silencing all dissent against the state.Chinese Internet censorship is imposed via a centralized government blacklist of any websites that contain criticism of the state, porn, or any other content deemed unsuitable by the authorities. Every time you attempt to visit a website, you are re-routed through the government firewall, often making for long delays and crippling speeds.China has exercised its power to shut down the Internet, something that Lieberman wants to introduce in the U.S., at politically sensitive times in order to stem the flow of information about government abuse and atrocities. During the anti-government riots which occurred in July 2009, the Chinese government completely shut down the Internet across the entire northwestern region of Xinjiang for days. Similarly, Internet access in parts of Tibet is routinely restricted as part of government efforts to pre-empt and neutralize unrest.Major websites like Twitter, Google and You Tube have also been shut down either temporarily or permanently by Chinese authorities.News websites in China now require users to register their true identities in order to leave comments. This abolition of anonymity is used to chill free speech in that it prevents the user from engaging in criticism of the state for fear that they would be tracked down by authorities.Chinese authorities are now going further than merely maintaining a blacklist of banned websites by instituting a whitelist of allowed websites, a move that could potentially place much of the Internet off-limits to Chinese readers. Websites not pre-registered with the government would be completely blocked to all Internet users, meaning millions of completely innocuous sites would be banned. This equates to requiring government approval to set up a website, which would obviously not be granted if the person or organization making the application has a history of or is likely to engage in dissent against the state.

President Obama himself has criticized Chinese Internet censorship as a hindrance to the free flow of information and allowing citizens to hold their governments accountable, and yet Lieberman wants to hand Obama similar powers.Given the nature of Chinese Internet regulation, with has nothing to do with war as Lieberman claims and everything to do with political censorship and covering up information about state oppression, we should be alarmed that the Senator wants to see America move in the same direction. The real agenda behind government control of the Internet has always been to strangle and suffocate independent media outlets who are now competing with and even displacing establishment press organs, with websites like the Drudge Report now attracting more traffic than many large newspapers combined. As part of this war against independent media, the FTC recently proposing a Drudge Tax that would force independent media organizations to pay fees that would be used to fund mainstream newspapers. In addition, the FCC has rolled a censorship plan into its Net Neutrality scheme in a stealth attempt to impose Internet regulation.Under the FCC’s regulatory control consumers would be forced to buy an Internet/TV/Phone connectivity box that the government approves. Everyone will pay rates for service that the government sets. And everything passing through your Internet, TV, or phone would become subject to the FCC’s consistent regulatory whim, writes Americans for Tax Reform’s Kelly William Cobb.Similar legislation aimed at imposing Chinese-style censorship of the Internet and giving the state the power to shut down networks has already been passed globally, including in the UK, New Zealand and Australia. We have extensively covered efforts to scrap the internet as we know it and move toward a greatly restricted internet 2 system. Handing government the power to control the Internet would only be the first step towards this system, whereby individual ID’s and government permission would be required simply to operate a website, and this is precisely what the National Security Council has proposed for the new cybersecurity measures that are set to be implemented over the next few years.

HEAT OF THE MOMENT Disgraced Fannie Mae deep in carbon scheme-Mortgage giant set to collect millions marketing homeowners' energy savings June 25, 2010
11:10 pm Eastern By Jerome R. Corsi 2010 WorldNetDaily

With the Obama administration pushing for cap-and-trade legislation, former Clinton and Obama adviser Franklin Raines has positioned the government-sponsored mortgage giant Fannie Mae to make millions by selling carbon credits from American homes. Two patents applied for by Raines as one of several co-inventors – Nos. 6904336 and 7133750 – create a method for identifying, quantifying, and aggregating reductions in residential emissions into a tradable commodity. The patents are identically titled System and Method for Residential Emissions Trading.Be the first to see the full documentation of how your life could be changed by climate-related laws, taxes and regulations, in Climategate. The idea appears to be for Fannie Mae to create Collateralized Carbon Obligations, or CCOs, by utilizing a methodology similar to its system for combining individual home loans into Collateralized Loan Obligations, or CLOs.The patents give Fannie Mae the methods for identifying and measuring energy savings in homes that can be packaged and sold to carbon polluters as credits on a carbon exchange.Instead of selling the Collateralized Loan Obligations to institutional investors, including financial institutions and banks, the energy savings in thousands of U.S. homes would be packaged by Fannie Mae and sold as Collateralized Carbon Obligations on a carbon exchange, such as the Chicago Climate Exchange. The buyers would be carbon emitters who emit so much carbon dioxide they are required to buy carbon offset credits.

Fannie Mae owns patents

WND reported Raines and Fannie Mae have both stated in e-mails that Raines has no ownership of the two carbon emission patents he filed as inventor while he was CEO of the government-sponsored mortgage giant.Mr. Raines has no continuing interest in any patent for residential carbon emissions, Corrine Russell, a spokeswoman for the Federal Housing Financing Agency, the new regulatory agency now overseeing Fannie Mae, concurred in an e-mail to WND.By obtaining the patents, Fannie Mae has effectively blocked others, including Wall Street investment banks, from utilizing the methodology without compensating Fannie Mae, explained Joshua D. Isenberg, a patent and trademark attorney in Fremont, Calif., who is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In effect, Fannie Mae has cornered the market for aggregating carbon credits from U.S. homes, said Isenberg in telephone interview with WND. A patent typically becomes a business tool that excludes others, including big players, from asserting their right to the invention.Isenberg explained that obtaining the patents on household carbon emissions effectively puts Fannie Mae into the position of Let's make a deal.

Rights to energy savings in your home?

How would Fannie Mae obtain the carbon credits from American homes? The patents appear to explain that Fannie Mae will identify and measure energy savings in residential households that can be quantified as an emissions reduction and aggregated into a tradable commodity. The patents authorize Fannie Mae to create either a system or a computer-implemented method for converting household energy savings into tradable credits. The patents discuss replacing older appliances with more energy efficient appliances; upgrading hot water heating systems; upgrading heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; modifying lightening; fuel switching and renovating the entire home. The patents further explain that appliance upgrades may include, but are not limited to: refrigerators; stoves and ovens; clothes washers and dryers; and dishwaters.Improving hot water heating systems for showers, baths and other household uses may result in substantial energy savings, the patent explains, noting an oil-fired boiler might be replaced with a natural gas hot water heating systems. The patents also recommend that homeowners participating in the program should consider installing insulating insulation in attics and exterior walls; installing more efficient windows; and reducing infiltration.Once Fannie Mae establishes an energy baseline on a home, the patents describe a methodology in which regulators can measure on-going energy use through the installation of new meters and by regulators visiting homes as part of Fannie Mae-specified field monitoring.

Nowhere in the patents is there any discussion of compensating homeowners for making the energy improvements or for sharing with homeowners any of the revenue Fannie Mae might derive from packaging their energy savings as carbon credits to be sold on a carbon exchange to carbon polluters.Nor do the patents discuss financial or legal repercussions Fannie Mae might take on homeowners who default on energy savings that it identified in their homes, quantified and packaged into tradable carbon credit commodities. In addition to Fannie Mae, the two patents are also assigned to Cantor CO2e, a spin-off subsidiary of Wall Street investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald that reflects the participation of Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Carlton Bartels as a co-inventor in the original development of the household carbon emissions patent idea. After Carlton Bartels was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attack, his wife, Jane Bartels, took legal ownership of his property interests in the patents.Cantor CO2e is currently listed as an offset aggregator on the Chicago Climate Exchange, suggesting the company could cooperate with Fannie Mae utilizing the Franklin Raines-filed patents to combine household energy credits to be sold as tradable carbon-credit commodities on the CCX.Robert Hubbell, managing director of global communications and marketing for Cantor Fitzgerald, told WND the Patent Office lists both Fannie Mae and CantorCO2 as owners. He said Cantor has no involvement with Raines, and his company has no working relationship with Fannie Mae to implement or use the patents.

A letter sent May 25 by Fannie Mae general counsel Alfred M. Pollard to Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Jason Chaffetz, R- Utah, of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, U.S. House of Representatives, explains that Fannie Mae is not using the first patent nor has it earned any revenue on it.In her e-mail to WND, Corinne Russell of the FHFA claimed Fannie Mae sent a similar letter to Issa and Chaffetz in June, denying Fannie Mae had used or was earning any revenue on the second patent.Russell did not respond to WND's questions asking whether FHFA or Fannie Mae would deny categorically that Fannie Mae would ever implement the household carbon emissions programs specified in the patents, or whether Fannie Mae would consider assigning the household carbon emission patent rights to another government agency for implementation.Russell also did not respond to WND inquiries about the percentage of ownership interest in the two patents that was assigned to Cantor CO2e or to a request to define the working relationship, if any, between Fannie Mae and CO2e.

15th of Tammuz: Remembering the Holy Ohr HaChaim
by Hillel Fendel JUNE 27,10

The 15th day of Tammuz (Sunday of this week) is the 257th anniversary of the death of Rabbi Chaim ben Atar, known as the Holy Ohr HaChaim. Hundreds of Jews went overnight to visit his Mt. of Olives gravesite in Jerusalem, and his memory was commemorated in many synagogues around the country as well.Born in 1696 in Morocco, he was known as the Ohr HaChaim (Light of Life) because of the commentary of the same name that he wrote on the Torah. Many Jews study this commentary on the weekly Torah portion each week. He fulfilled a life-long dream and moved to the Land of Israel in 1742, just a year before his death – but managed to establish two yeshivot in Jerusalem during that short time, one in Kabbalistic studies and one for Talmud and Jewish Law. The Ohr HaChaim is one of the few Jewish Sages who earned the title the holy. Some explain that this was because of the emphasis he placed on the special, treasured nature of the Nation of Israel and its holiness. The Baal Shem Tov was said to have said that the Ohr HaChaim had a spark of the Messiah and was worthy to be the Messiah himself.Rabbi Chaim ben Attar was known to support Torah scholars and was active in communal affairs. He supported the Jews in the Land of Israel and their institutions even before he moved there himself, and sought to lessen the influence of the Karaites (non-Rabbinic Jews who do not believe in the Oral Law).

Among his students was the famous Chida, Rabbi Yosef Chaim David Azulai. On this past week's Torah portion, which tells the story of Bilam the Gentile prophet, the Ohr HaChaim comments that there are sinful people who are willing to do Teshuva (repentance) and accept the yoke of Torah – but only on condition that they die immediately, that is, they will repent just before they die. But this is the way of the wicked Bilam, the Ohr HaChaim writes, who wanted to enjoy forbidden pleasures his whole life, and then to die as Moses, as he says: May my soul die the death of the straight ones, and may my end be like him (Num. 23,10). But Israel's way is different; G-d does not want the sinner to die, but for him to repent and live. We live teshuvah; we don't live plain lives, without Torah and its commandments; we live to overcome our evil inclinations and fulfill the Torah.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Captured soldier's family marching to Jerusalem By AMY TEIBEL, Associated Press Writer – Sun Jun 27, 3:11 pm ET

JERUSALEM – The family of a captured Israeli soldier, flanked by hundreds of supporters, set out Sunday on a 12-day march to Jerusalem to press their government to make a deal with Hamas militants to win his freedom.Sgt. Gilad Schalit was taken captive four years ago during a cross-border raid by militants from the Gaza Strip. His parents say they will camp outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official residence until the government wins the release of their 23-year-old son, who hasn't been seen in person since he was seized.Today we say, We won't wait any longer, we won't wait any longer in our home, Schalit's father, Noam Schalit, said before the start of the march. Israel's leaders, he added, have to put an end to this sad saga.

Thousands, including supermodel Bar Refaeli and dozens of local celebrities, are expected to join the march from the Schalits' home in northern Israel to Jerusalem.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said about 2,000 supporters accompanied the family as it left its home in the small community of Mitzpe Hila on the Israel-Lebanon border. Many wore yellow ribbons or T-shirts with the soldier's photo. Some carried signs reading, Gilad Schalit, we're waiting at home for you, and The government of Israel, Gilad Schalit is screaming, Help! Israel has agreed to release many of the 1,000 Palestinian prisoners that Hamas wants freed, but has balked at freeing some who were convicted in deadly attacks on Israelis. It also objects to releasing them to their homes in the neighboring West Bank for fear they would establish militant footholds there, and wants them deported.Schalit's ordeal has touched a nerve in Israel, where military service is compulsory for most Jews, and almost all Jewish families have relatives who serve. The march dominated Israeli newspapers Sunday, and one leading daily, Haaretz, implored the government to make the necessary concessions to bring Schalit home. A recent poll suggested that a large majority of Israelis would be willing to see convicted killers released so he could go free.

The Schalits launched the protest march after Israel eased its blockade of Gaza last week without assuring their son's release.Israel began restricting the movement of goods into and out of Gaza after Schalit was captured, hoping to pressure Hamas to release him, and later imposed an all-out blockade after Hamas overran the territory a year later. That embargo was eased in recent weeks after a deadly Israeli raid on a blockade-busting flotilla drew an international outcry over the plight of 1.5 million Gazans affected by the embargo.Schalit's parents now say the Israeli government has abandoned their son and lost important leverage over Hamas by easing the blockade.Netanyahu told his Cabinet on Sunday that the government was working to free the serviceman and urged the international community to stand by the state of Israel in its unequivocal and just demand that our captive soldier be returned immediately.Israel has been negotiating Schalit's release through Egyptian and German mediators because it does not have direct talks with Hamas, which it considers a terror organization.Little is known about Schalit's condition. His captors have barred any access to him and released only a brief videotaped statement last year to prove he was still alive.Israel has a long history of paying a disproportionate price for its captive soldiers. However, there has been no indication the government might yield to the public pressure generated by the march. Some officials have suggested the protests would be counterproductive and cause Hamas to dig in deeper.Hamas had no comment on the march Sunday. Also Sunday, Palestinians clashed with Israeli police in east Jerusalem near an enclave of Israeli settlers in the neighborhood of Silwan. Police said around 150 protesters threw stones, slightly wounding six policemen. There were no immediate reports of injured protesters. Israeli moves to settle Jews in largely Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem have raised tensions in the city.

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY)of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Hundreds of Arabs Rampage in Shiloach
by Gil Ronen JUNE 27,10

Arabs in Shiloach (Silwan) near the Kotel in Jerusalem went on a rampage Sunday evening. At least two hundred Arabs hurled fire bombs, fireworks and rocks at security guards stationed at Beit HaDvash in the neighborhood, and at dozens of policemen and Border Police who came to restore order.

Three homes were reportedly on fire.At least ten security men were lightly hurt. Six of these are apparently policemen and four others are Beit HaDvash guards. The guards reportedly fired in the air to ward off the attackers and police forces used stun grenades against the rioters. Earlier in the afternoon, an Arab mob in Shiloach attacked a car driven by a Jewish man, Rechavia Piltz. Piltz's three children, the eldest of whom is eight, were inside the car with him. He managed to drive away but the vehicle was damaged.Border Guards arrested two Arabs near Shechem in Samaria Sunday evening after they placed three pipe bombs in a plastic bag near the Huwara checkpoint.Arabs also hurled rocks at the Jewish community in Hevron Sunday. No one was reported hurt. (IsraelNationalNews.com)

Iran is Surrounded by US Troops in 10 Countries
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu JUNE 27,10

Iran literally is surrounded by American troops, notes an oil market analyst, Energy and Capital editor Christian A. DeHaemer. There is no evidence of an imminent attack, but he connects a number of recent events and the presence of American soldiers to warn that oil prices might soar -- with or without a pre-emptive strike aimed at stopping Iran’s nuclear power ambitions.Iran is bordered on the east by Pakistan and Afghanistan, where U.S. troops have been waging a costly war, in terms of money and lives, against Taliban, Al-Qaeda and other terrorists. The Persian Gulf is on Iran’s southern border, and last week’s report, confirmed by the Pentagon, that 11 warships had sailed through the Suez Canal, raised alarm bells that the U.S. is ready to fight to keep the Persian Gulf open. Iran has threatened it could close the waterway, where 40 percent of the world’s oil flows in tankers, if the United Nations or the United States by itself carry out harsh energy sanctions against the Islamic Republic. An Israeli ship has also reportedly joined the U.S. armada.Kuwait, which is heavily armed by the U.S. and is home to American bases, is located on the southwestern border of Iran. The country’s western neighbors are Turkey and Iraq, also home to American bases, and Turkmenistan, the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan are the Islamic Republic’s northern neighbors. The U.S.army last year advanced military cooperation with Turkmenistan. An independent Caspian news agency has confirmed unusually heavy activity of American troops along the border with Iran. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Brigadier General Mehdi Moini said last week that his forces increased patrols, including tanks and anti-aircraft units, along the border with Azerbaijan because they noticed increased American activity. Iran charged that Israeli forces were also present, sparking a virtual war alert among the Iranian Guards. In addition, the Times of London reported earlier this month that Saudi Arabia has agreed to open its air space for Israel Air Force jets, a claim that the Saudi monarchy denied. It similar denied Iranian news agency claims that Israeli helicopters unloaded military equipment at a northwestern Saudi Arabian air base, from where Israeli planes theoretically could reach Iran in the shorts possible time.

There has been no confirmation of Israel-Saudi cooperation from any other source, but one IDF reserve officer, who has been involved in secret military projects for private companies, told Israel National News that the it could be true if both countries found it in their common interests. Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel and has treated the Jewish State with disdain. However, the possibility of Iran's dominating the Arab world with nuclear power has changed all political scenarios.

Several defense websites have reported that Israel is deploying one to three German-made nuclear submarines in the Persian Gulf as a defensive measure against the possibility of a missile attacks from Lebanon and Syria, as well as Iran. The submarines of Flotilla 7 — Dolphin, Tekuma and Leviathan — have visited the Gulf before,DeHaemer wrote, but the decision has now been taken to ensure a permanent presence of at least one of the vessels.Amid the buzz of increased military activity around Iran looms the specter of higher oil prices, which is DeHaemer's field of expertise. The last oil price shock in the Middle East was in 1990 when the United States invaded Iraq for invading Kuwait. The price per barrel of oil went from $21 to $28 on August 6...to $46 by mid-October. The looming Iran War is not priced in, he warned in his news letter.Iran has the third-highest oil reserves in the world and is second only to Saudi Arabia in production. If any action prevents the flow of Iranian oil, the price of black gold would soar, he added. (IsraelNationalNews.com)

Sen. Kerry in Israel: Praise for Israel, Worried over Iran
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu JUNE 27,10

U.S. Senator John Kerry, chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, visited President Shimon Peres in Jerusalem on Sunday and said, Iran has not left anybody very much choice but to move down the road that we are going. He refrerred to tougher sanctions on Iran but did not mention the military option. No one in the United States underestimates or mistakes the challenge that Iran is posing to the region, Sen. Kerry added. We have put some tough sanctions into place… and in the Senate; we just went further last week. The sanctions that the Democratic-controlled Congress wants has placed it at odds with U.S. President Barack Obama, who faces increasing criticism for failing to push harsher measures through the United Nations Security Council. The senator’s visit is viewed as a warm-up for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to the White House next month, one week after King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia will travel to Washington. The Arab world has held out for Israel to accept the Saudi 2002 Initiative, demanding a surrender of all of the land restored to the Jewish State in the 1967 Six-Day War as well as allowing the immigration to Israel of approximately five million Arabs claiming to be descendants of former residents of Israel.

President Obama, I know, is very much looking forward to the meeting with the Prime Minister,Sen. Kerry stated. Let me begin by congratulating you. Referring to Israel’s relaxing the partial land embargo on Hamas-controlled Gaza, he added,I think everyone in Congress, and in the administration, and in our country was pleased and excited by the steps that Israel has taken now. We are very sympathetic to your right to defend yourself… I personally visited Sderot, I know the problem of the rockets coming in, and how many have come in, this needs to change, and that’s what we are all working on.He used the opportunity to promote the American-mediated proximity talks under the leadership of U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell. [Former] Senator Mitchell will be back here continuing to work on it… I think time is the enemy for all of us here. We need to get this moving because the patience of people who have been waiting a long time on both sides, on all sides, has been tried.

Sen. Kerry previously has visited Syria and Gaza in an effort to win backing for a regional peace summit, even though the United States considers Syria a country that supports terrorism.President Peres told Kerry, I do not believe that we can move without the leadership of the United States.… We are very grateful to the United States for its strong support of Israel. It is important to raise the level of discussion between Israel and the Palestinians from proximity talks to direct talks. It is also necessary to have a secret channel, because everything made public is no longer negotiations, but rather public relations.(IsraelNationalNews.com)

Iran cancels plan to send ship to Gaza
Sat Jun 26, 11:42 am ET

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran will not be sending a blockade-busting ship to Gaza in defiance of Israeli warnings, an Iranian lawmaker said Saturday, citing Israeli restrictions.
Mahmoud Ahmadi Bighash told the semiofficial ISNA news agency that instead of sending a ship, an Iranian delegation of lawmakers would travel to Lebanon and sail on one of the aid ships expected to head to Gaza from there. The Iranian ship called Infants of Gaza had been expected to sail Sunday for Gaza carrying 1,100 tons of relief supplies and 10 pro-Palestinian activists but plans were canceled due to restrictions imposed by the occupying Zionist regime,Bighash said.Iran made the announcement Tuesday prompting Israel to warn its archenemy to drop the plan.Israel considers Iran a threat because of its suspect nuclear program, its long-range missiles and its support for Lebanese and Gaza militants.Israeli security officials said the prospect of an Iranian boat headed for Gaza had Israel deeply worried, and that naval commandos were training for the possibility of taking on a vessel with a suicide bomber on board. After an international outcry over the killing of nine Turkish activists in a May 31 raid on another aid ship, Israel eased its land blockade of Gaza but insisted on maintaining a naval blockade it says is necessary to keep weapons shipments out of the hands of Gaza's Hamas rulers.Israel imposed the blockade after Hamas overran the Palestinian territory in June 2007.In Lebanon, organizers of the ship, Julia, said they plan to sail in the next few days but said they had nothing to with Iran. A second ship will only be transporting women, while a third ship will include parliamentarians from the Middle East and Europe. It is not clear when that ship will sail.

Genocidal Israel will be put in its place - Chavez
Sun Jun 27, 2010 1:59am GMT By Frank Jack Daniel

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez described Israel on Saturday as a genocidal state that acted as an assassin for the United States, predicting the Middle East nation would one day be put in its place. The socialist Chavez is a harsh critic of both Israel and the United States and cut relations with Israel after accusing it of holocaust for its 2009 offensive in the Gaza Strip. It has become the assassin arm of the United States, no one can doubt it. It is a threat to all of us, Chavez said, during a visit by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.Chavez said he supported a peaceful struggle for the return to Syria of the Golan Heights, captured by Israel in 1967.The territory will one day return to the Syrian hands, Chavez said. Of course we want it to be peaceful because we don't want more war.But one day the genocidal state of Israel will be put into its place, and let's hope that a really democratic state emerges there, with which we can share a path and ideas.

Chavez did not offer further details of what putting Israel in its place would entail.U.S. attempts to isolate Syria and reshape the Middle East have failed, he said, and Israel was fast losing allies.Israel last week eased its land blockade on the Gaza Strip, allowing in all goods except for arms and related materials. That move followed widespread criticism for a raid on a blockade-busting group of boats, in which nine activists died.Hugely popular in the Arab world for his fierce anti-imperialist stance. Chavez received a hero's welcome when he visited Syria in 2006. He returned to Damascus on a tour last year.

ASSAD TOUR

Assad arrived in Venezuela on Friday, the first stop on a rare Latin American tour. He is also due to visit Argentina, Brazil and Cuba.Syria has started to raise its international profile in recent years, shrugging off Western efforts to weaken it and developing ties with former foe Turkey, Russia and with Latin American nations.
Assad, who faces a decline in domestic oil production and droughts that have hit agriculture, is looking to reinforce links with a rich Syrian expatriate community in the region and with economic power Brazil. His tour is expected to focus on bilateral issues and Syria's hopes to attract $44 billion in private foreign investment over five years to repair its infrastructure. He applauded Chavez's loud criticism of the United States and Israel. Few politicians are brave enough to say no, when it is necessary to say no,Assad said as he arrived at the Miraflores presidential palace. He has revealed an image of Venezuela in resistance, creating a place for Venezuela on the international map. He has been on the side on just causes both in Latin America, in our region the Middle East and in the whole world. Reporting by Frank Jack Daniel; editing by Todd Eastham)

UN: Egyptian youths alienated by culture of fear By PAUL SCHEMM, Associated Press Writer – Sun Jun 27, 11:40 am ET

CAIRO – A U.N. report released Sunday cites political repression as one of the main forces preventing Egyptian youths, who make up a quarter of the population, from participating in the country's development. The Egypt Human Development report came out during a wave of demonstrations over the alleged beating death by police of a 28-year-old man in the city of Alexandria. Many of the demonstrations have been violently dispersed by security forces. The annual report, prepared by the U.N. Development Program, focused this year on the plight of Egyptians aged 18 to 29 and their disenfranchisement in the country amid widespread unemployment and political apathy.Egypt's youth can be a formidable force for development if conditions are put in place for an inclusive society where all young Egyptians feel valued and are afforded opportunities, the report said. The authors singled out government corruption, nepotism, electoral fraud and the long-running state of emergency for discouraging young people from engaging in politics and society. They also criticized restrictions on freedom of expression and demonstrations and interference in political activities of university students. The report presentation described a culture of fear among youth and recommended police stop intimidation that prevents citizens from expressing opinions or engaging in political activity.Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif, speaking at the launch of the report, did not address the criticism over political restrictions and defended the government's attitude toward youth by outlining the existing policies to tackle unemployment and education failures as well as a lack of housing. We are all aware that the young confront many challenges and difficulties, he said.We are on the right course for the development of youth.

The report said 90 percent of Egypt's unemployed are under the age of 30. Overall, Egyptian unemployment has hovered around 9 percent in past years, but among those aged 20-25 it has been as high as 40 percent, according to official figures.Upon entering adulthood, many young people enter a period of waiting for a job, a house or just to marry because of lack of opportunities. There remains an unfavorable environment for youth as they transition to adulthood, said the report, noting that even after marriage, a third of young people still have to live with their parents.

Egypt is currently experiencing a demographic bulge from a baby boom 30 years ago resulting in a comparatively large number of young adults. The report's lead author, economist Heba Handoussa, however, warned that Egypt is at a crossroads, and either it taps the energies of its youth or risks turning them into a burden for society.

Ashton to command US-type situation room-President Barack Obama meets with security advisors in the White House situation room. Ms Ashton is to get a similar set-up, but with vastly, vastly less power (Photo: The White House)ANDREW RETTMAN
27.06.2010 @ 17:25 CET

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - You see it in the movies: fighting has broken out somewhere in the former Soviet Union, the US president walks into his situation room, monitors are showing satellite images, security advisors are shouting at each other, the president is given a briefing note and sends an agent to gather intelligence. Now, the EU's foreign relations chief, Catherine Ashton, is to get a situation room of her own.The EU version will not be like Hollywood. In the back-rooms, the crisis directorate would have a team of IT experts, scientists and tacticians scouring open source data in search of emerging conflict threats, such as plans by UK private security firm Saracen International to build a pirate-fighting base in Somalia.Ms Ashton's exclusive information would come from officials manning 24/7 hotlines to the EU's 136 foreign delegations and 14 civilian and military missions. Another unit would send people to crisis zones at short notice on fact-finding missions.

The new set-up is to see Ms Ashton pick up the phone or walk down the hall and task people directly to go overseas or to query EU countries' secret services. Current bureaucracy means that 27 EU ambassadors in the Political and Security Committee first hold a debate before tasking SitCen.The idea is to give the EU foreign relations chief a powerful asset when she asks EU foreign ministers to deploy an EU battle-group or if she decides to send an EEAS diplomat, or even a prominent MEP, on a peace mission.Today, if you go through the normal channels to make a threat assessment in Kosovo, for example, by the time the [SitCen] officer gets to Pristina, it's all over, one PSC ambassador told this website.Imagine how effective the high representative could be if the new SitCen was to function like her shadow cabinet,a contact in the EU institutions said.Member states are afraid to give away power.

It could also dilute EEAS resources, perpetuating the problems of overlooked and forgotten conflicts. But the big question is: who will be Ms Ashton's right-hand man? Former UK soldier and diplomat William Shapcott, who built SitCen, walked away in June to a new post in the EU Council administration, creating a risk that his successor might take a minimalist approach to the job.One candidate for the post is French diplomat Patrice Bergamini, who worked close to Ms Ashton's predecessor, Javier Solana, and helped draft the EU's first security strategy in 2003. His appointment would give France a monopoly on the EEAS security side, however. French diplomat Christine Roger is to be the new PSC president. French official Claude-France Arnould is the new head of the EU Council's civilian-military crisis planning office. A French secret service agent runs SitCen's intelligence-sharing cell.

Police clash with G20 protesters, end in standoff By Cameron French and Pav Jordan - JUNE 28,10

TORONTO (Reuters) – Toronto police clashed with protesters for a second straight day on Sunday, with a final standoff played out in the downtown core near the just-finished G20 summit of world leaders.Police said that 605 protesters had been arrested by late afternoon. The running tally did not include the dozens seen detained by a Reuters witness just blocks away from where the Group of 20 leaders wrapped up talks focused on fixing the ills of the global economy. The standoff lasted more than five hours, from the late afternoon through to the late evening, as hundreds of police in full riot gear hemmed in protesters at a normally busy downtown intersection. A heavy downpour and a severe thunderstorm warning added to the drama as the standoff continued until 9:43 p.m. EDT.We had evidence of Black Bloc (anarchist) people, we had people donning masks in that very group, that's exactly how everything started yesterday, said Staff Sergeant Jeff McGuire in explaining why police opted to move against the protesters. The operation ended abruptly after a heavy downpour, and police released most of the crowd unconditionally, McGuire told reporters. He could not confirm the number arrested.

Earlier, police confronted another group of protesters and fired tear gas for a second straight day. That clash occurred after hundreds of protesters marched on a temporary detention center for demonstrators arrested in Saturday's riots. Witnesses saw at least two muzzle blasts, and a police spokeswoman confirmed that individual applications of tear gas were fired on the crowd. The blasts are typically used against individuals at close range.During Saturday's violence police used tear gas against the public for the first time ever in Canada's most populous city.Among those detained, on charges ranging from mischief to assaulting police, were four people who climbed through the sewer system and emerged near the lock-down area where world leaders were attending the summit.About 70 people also were detained after police raided the University of Toronto's downtown campus. Police said they seized weapons, including bricks, rocks and sticks.A local TV station said that four of its reporters were also among those arrested at the Sunday evening standoff.

Police are continuing to arrest people who engage in criminal activity, said police spokeswoman Jenn Geary. Media are treated just the way anyone else is. If they breach security they're going to be arrested.Protesters said police were being heavy-handed, using tactics that instigate violence rather than quell it. They also criticized the media for focusing coverage on violent clashes rather than the broader peaceful marches. This is the criminalization of dissent, said Chelsea Flook, with the Toronto Community Mobilization Network, just after police raided a protester convergence place run by the group in search of members of the Black Bloc, which police say instigated the riots over the weekend.Black Bloc are anarchists who wear black clothing and ski masks to avoid being identified as they attack police and public property. They meld into over-all protest groups and often work to create riot situations. The weekend violence started on Saturday afternoon after groups of masked anarchists broke away from a larger, peaceful demonstration against the summit of rich and emerging economies.Protesters, many dressed in black gear, smashed windows of downtown stores and banks and torched police cars.Anti-G20 groups started demonstrating in Toronto before the summit, which followed a smaller meeting of Group of Eight industrial nations in a resort town north of Toronto. The security bill is set to come in at about $1 billion. Such international meetings have been the target of protest groups for years, including demonstrations that disrupted trade talks in Seattle in 1999.

Russia alarmed by CIA view of Iran's weapons By Guy Faulconbridge – Sun Jun 27, 9:47 pm ET

TORONTO (Reuters) – Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday he was alarmed by U.S. assertions that Iran may have enough fuel for two nuclear weapons and warned that if confirmed the Islamic Republic may face new measures.Central Intelligence Agency Director Leon Panetta told ABC's This Week television program that the agency thinks Iran has enough low-enriched uranium now for two weapons, but that Tehran would have to further enrich the material first. As to this information -- it needs to be checked, Medvedev told reporters in Toronto, where he was attending the Group of 20 summit of rich and emerging nations. In any case, such information is always alarming because today the international community does not recognize the Iranian nuclear program as transparent, Medvedev said.Russian leaders rarely comment on CIA statements and Medvedev's sharp comments indicate the gulf that has grown between Moscow and Tehran over recent months. The Kremlin and Tehran had a public row last month after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad admonished the Kremlin for bowing to what he said was U.S. pressure to agree further sanctions.Urged on by the Obama administration, the U.N. Security Council -- which includes Russia -- this month passed a resolution to impose new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear development.

If it is shown that what the American special services say is true then it will of course make the situation more tense, and I do not exclude that this question would have to be looked at additionally, Medvedev said. The United States, key European Union powers and Israel say Iran is trying to use its civilian nuclear program to hide an attempt to create an atomic bomb, an assertion Tehran denies.Russia has repeatedly called on Iran to remove the doubts that the international community have and earlier this year one of Russia's top security officials said that Western concerns were valid. The CIA said that for Iran to have enough nuclear material for bombs, it would have to enrich its low-enriched uranium. We would estimate that if they made that decision, it would probably take a year to get there, probably another year to develop the kind of weapons delivery system in order to make that viable,CIA chief Panetta said.(Reporting by Guy Faulconbridge; Editing by David Storey)

NKorea says it must bolster nuclear capability By HYUNG-JIN KIM, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 28,10

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea said Monday it must bolster its nuclear capability to cope with hostile U.S. policy amid high tension over the deadly sinking of a South Korean warship blamed on Pyongyang. An international investigation concluded last month that North Korea torpedoed the warship Cheonan near the tense Korean sea border. North Korea flatly denies the allegation and has warned any punishment would trigger war.The recent disturbing development on the Korean Peninsula underscores the need for (North Korea) to bolster its nuclear deterrent in a newly developed way to cope with the U.S. persistent hostile policy toward (the North) and military threat toward it, the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The statement, carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, didn't elaborate how North Korea would strengthen its nuclear capability.North Korea cites the threat of a nuclear attack from the U.S. as a main reason behind its drive to build atomic weapons. Pyongyang — which is believed to have enough weaponized plutonium for at least a half-dozen weapons — conducted its first nuclear test in 2006, drawing international condemnation and U.N. sanctions. The warning came after top world leaders at a G-8 meeting near Toronto criticized North Korea over its nuclear program. The leaders also condemned the attack that led to the sinking of the warship Cheonan but didn't explicitly blame North Korea for it.Backed by the U.S. and other countries, South Korea has taken its own punitive measures against North Korea, including trade restrictions. The North reacted angrily, declaring it was cutting off ties with Seoul and threatening to attack.South Korea has taken the issue to the U.N. Security Council to seek punishment for North Korea.

INVENTION OF THE ATOMIC BOMB.

2 PETER 3:10-11
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

NUCLEAR WEAPONS WILL BE USED.

PSALMS 97:3
3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.

REVELATION 14:18-20

ISAIAH 66:15-18
15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

ISAIAH 26:21
21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.(WW3,1/2 earths population die).

ISAIAH 13:6-13 KJV
6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:(FROM FRIGHT)
8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.
9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

ISAIAH 24:17-23 KJV
17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

JOEL 2:3,30
3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.

EZEKIEL 20:47
47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

LUKE 17:34-37
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.(Christians have new bodies, this is the people against Jerusalem during the 7 yr treaty)(Christians bodies are not being eaten by the birds).

MATTHEW 24:37-51
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Floodwaters receding in hard-hit southern China
Sun Jun 27, 8:16 am ET

BEIJING – Floodwaters began receding in hard-hit southern China on Sunday and workers finished repairing a dike breach that forced the evacuation of 100,000 people.Torrential rains pummeled a wide swath of China's south and more than 3 million people had to be evacuated from their homes over the past two weeks, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.China sustains major flooding annually along the mighty Yangtze and other major waterways, but this year's floods have been especially devastating, killing 235 people while 109 remain missing, the ministry said.Floods have also caused 53 billion yuan ($7.8 billion) in direct economic losses, it said.Water had receded enough that some people returned to inspect their homes over the weekend, China Central Television said. Residents returned to find their mud-brick houses covered in sludge in areas that had been under 6 1/2 feet (2 meters) of water after a reservoir overflowed in Malong county of Yunnan province.

Workers using dump trucks and earth movers finished repairing a breach in the dike on the Fu River in Jiangxi province on Sunday, according CCTV. A second breach, 430 feet (130 meters) wide, was not immediately fixed in order to channel out water, the official Xinhua News Agency said.Still, the danger was not completely over for those in the disaster zone. While water in many major rivers was receding, levels in other rivers were still causing concern and even rising in at least two lakes, the state flood control office said.Efforts also focused on other provinces with crews cleaning debris from mudslides off highways and railway tracks, CCTV said. Local authorities were ordered to step up patrols to inspect for damage.

1 killed as storm moves through Mich. campground By JEFF KAROUB, Associated Press Writer - JUNE 28,10

CLYDE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Powerful winds overturned trailers and scattered furniture, bikes and debris across an eastern Michigan campground Sunday, killing one person and injuring four others, authorities said.A massive storm moved through the Fort Trodd Family Campground in St. Clair County's Clyde Township shortly after 7 p.m., Sheriff Tim Donnellon said.Several camping trailers were blown onto their roofs and sides. Many others were damaged, including a 30-foot camper where Diana Gawronski and her husband, Ed, were when they saw the sky turning dark. The rain came, the wind came and that was it, said Gawronski, 67, of Warren. The couple hit the floor, bounced around and then it was over. Gawronski said her camper stayed upright but suffered significant damage, including losing its screened-in front room and the furniture it contained. One trailer landed in a large pond on the private campground, which features 80 to 100 campsites about 65 miles north of Detroit. A dive team continued to search the water as a precaution Sunday night even after authorities said all campground visitors had been accounted for.The National Weather Service had issued multiple tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings across the southern part of the state Sunday and confirmed at least one tornado in southwest Wayne County, about 35 miles southwest of Detroit, that destroyed a couple of garages.

But officials said a tornado had not been confirmed in Clyde Township, where Fire Chief Gary May said no weather warnings had been issued. The weather service said it would survey the St. Clair County damage Monday.A storm came through, but we cannot confirm a tornado. Looks like it may have been strong, straight-line winds, St. Clair County Emergency Management director Jeff Friedland said.Donnellon said James Anderson, 75, of Mount Clemens, was killed at the campground, but declined to released details of the circumstances until an autopsy was performed. He said the four injured were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The Red Cross was at the campground Sunday night providing aid and making arrangements for a small number of people who did not have a place to stay. Donnellon said no one would be allowed back into the campground for the night.Conrad Dzialo, 69, of Dearborn Heights, said he and his wife had left the campground to visit their grandson when he got a call from a friend about what happened. He returned to find his trailer on its side.I didn't realize there was so much devastation, he said after surveying the site.

Alex regains tropical storm strength in Gulf
By Adrian Virgen - JUNE 28,10

CAMPECHE, Mexico (Reuters) – Tropical depression Alex picked up speed over the Gulf of Mexico and regained tropical storm strength on Sunday as two key Mexican oil ports remained closed. The storm was not an imminent threat to oil-siphoning efforts at BP Plc's blown-out Macondo well in the Gulf, the U.S. Coast Guard has said. But Shell Oil Co shut subsea production at the Auger and Brutus platforms in the Gulf due to the storm threat. On Saturday, it evacuated nonessential workers from production platforms and drilling rigs in U.S.-regulated areas of the Gulf of Mexico oilfields.Forecasters from the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Sunday that additional strengthening is forecast ... and Alex could become a hurricane within the next 48 hours.Alex is expected to make landfall again on Wednesday between Brownsville, Texas, and Tuxpan de Rodriguez Cano in Mexico, mostly sparing BP oil collection efforts.Alex, the first named storm of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, had sustained winds of 45 mph and was about 60 miles west-southwest of Campeche. The system was moving west-northwest at 7 mph.The Mexican government kept the ports of Dos Bocas and Cayo Arcas, which handle 80 percent of all its export shipping in the Gulf of Mexico, closed Sunday afternoon citing bad weather and strong surf in the area.State-run oil giant Pemex said its platforms in the Campeche Sound were working normally and there was no evacuation plan yet due to Alex.We are on alert but platforms remain working, a Pemex spokesman told Reuters Sunday via text message.Pemex's emergency plan for hurricanes is constantly monitoring systems in the area, he said.

EL SALVADOR DEATHS

Two men drowned in El Salvador after they were swept away by a river swollen with rain dumped by Alex, civil protection head Jorge Melendez told reporters Sunday.
Alex was expected to bring 4 to 8 inches of rain to the Yucatan Peninsula through Tuesday. Isolated amounts of up to 15 inches were possible over mountainous areas.
Heavy rainfall could reach the coastal area of Tamaulipas and Veracruz Tuesday night and Wednesday, the Miami-based center said. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30 and meteorologists predict this year will be a very active one. Hurricanes feed on warm water and the sea surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic are higher than usual this year.(Additional reporting by Jose Cortazar in Cancun, Nelson Renteria in El Salvador, and Cyntia Barrera Diaz in Mexico City, editing by Vicki Allen and Cynthia Osterman)

Palin: Obama administration selling out allies Jun 27 10:18 PM US/Eastern
By BOB LEWIS AP Political Writer

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Sarah Palin on Sunday painted President Barack Obama's administration as a cowering giant intent on surrendering the nation's mantle as a superpower and willing to sell out its allies. The former John McCain running mate addressed a paying audience of several hundred people in Norfolk and accused Obama of selling out ally Israel in over its naval blockade of Gaza and treating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shabbily. On May 31, Israeli naval commandos killed nine pro-Palestinian activists in clashes aboard a Turkish ship headed for Gaza, setting off a world outcry and forcing Israel to ease its three-year-old blockade. She also said Obama lacked the resolve to stand up to Russia and China. Do they think, really, that we're getting anything in return for all this bowing and kowtowing and apologizing? No, we don't get anything positive in return for this, Palin said at the event spearheaded by a Norfolk talk radio station. So while President Obama is getting pushed around by the likes of Russia and China, our allies are left to wonder about the value of an alliance with our country any more. They're asking what is it worth, she said. Palin, former Virginia Sen. George Allen and Iran-Contra figure Oliver North, who ran for a Virginia Senate seat and lost, each took turns decrying what they said was the deterioration of U.S. military might and will under Obama's watch. Palin said that Obama and an allied Democratic Congress had cut military spending while showing no such restraint on other expenditures, running up trillions in new deficits. North and particularly Allen had already whipped the crowd into a lather.North, who lost his 1994 bid to unseat Democratic Sen. Chuck Robb, also ripped into the potentates of pork along the Potomac and their headlong rush toward socialism.

But Allen, most clearly returned to the pugnacious, locker-room rhetoric that often distinguished the namesake son of the Hall of Fame football coach as governor in the early 1990s as he embarks on his own political comeback. Allen has published a book for what Republicans say is a bid to win back his Senate seat from Democrat Jim Webb in 2012. Allen was a prohibitive favorite in 2006 to easily defeat Webb, but lost his re-election bid and a promising spot in the GOP presidential nomination race. He referred to the Democrats who now control Congress as sanctimonious, pompous social engineers and accused them of spending on someone else's credit card like a drunken, bloated nanny.Obama's administration, he said, had become too fond of apologizing for U.S. military might. We don't need to apologize as Americans. Americans throughout history have liberated more people than any other country on earth, including the liberation of my mother from the Nazis,Allen said. His mother, Etty, is Jewish and grew up in Tunisia. Her father had been detained by the Nazis while they occupied Tunisia. But during his campaign four years ago, Allen bristled when asked at a debate about his mother's Jewish heritage rather than acknowledging or embracing it.That helped doom Allen's re-election bid already hobbled in August when he pointed to a Virginia-born Webb campaign volunteer of Indian descent during a campaign speech and called him Macaca, which is a slur in some cultures.

MEDIA MATTERS-Holy vanishing! Look what's happened to God on TV
Network planning one 60-minute act of worship during 2010 June 26, 2010
9:20 pm Eastern By Bob Unruh 2010 WorldNetDaily

BBC headquarters
A new report from The Christian Institute says religious programming is in danger of vanishing entirely from the television networks in the United Kingdom. ITV is planning to schedule one 60-minute act of worship during 2010, a recent letter from John Creswell, then CEO of the organization, said. The report posted online today by the organization that exists for the furtherance and promotion of the Christian religion in the United Kingdom said the Bishop of Manchester, Nigel McCulloch, had written to the nation's broadcasters asking about their commitments to religious programming. Want the Christian revolution to begin in your church? Beyond Belief to Convictions equips youth to stand against the culture, share Christ.British Channel Five responded that it has no definite plans for religious programs during 2010. And Creswell documented the ITV programming agenda. The broadcasters' responses, released ahead of the Church of England's general synod next month, are likely to fuel concerns about the exclusion of Christianity from the public sphere, the report said.

The Christian Institute report noted both the BBC and Channel 4 are required to run religious programs in their roles as public-service broadcasters, and BBC One and BBC Two are required to broadcast some two hours per week of religious content. But some of that content has been challenged, since an episode of the Bonekickers program a year ago featured a fanatical British Christian beheading a moderate Muslim. The Christian Institute reported the BBC Trust, a group of trustees acting in the public interest, rejected complaints about the drama. That was too much for many critics, with one London Telegraph writer penning,We are deep into the realms of BBC bias and ignorance here.In response to McCulloch's letters, both ITV and Channel Five said there is a lack of interest in faith programming and it no longer is commercially viable. David Abraham, CEO of Channel 4, said religious shows are being maintained where possible but the organization has dispensed with its religion editor. The issue has been developing for months, since Rowan Williams, the archbishop of Canterbury, reportedly met with BBC Director General Mark Thompson over some of the apparent changes. It had been Thompson who sparked alarm in British churches by suggesting the BBC had to give special consideration to Islam in its programming. At that time, McCulloch raised concerns that broadcasters were treating Christians from the point of view of an observer of a fascinating and increasingly rare species.Just a few weeks ago, BBC personality Roger Bolton confirmed that television programmers see religion as a rather tiresome obligation to be minimized.

Another network presenter, Simon Mayo, also said there's a perception that an anti-Christian theme is developing among entertainers. Last year Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine said he believed it had become almost socially unacceptable to say you believe in God,The Christian Institute said.He said he believed Christ is who he said he is, but didn’t think he could say so on his show. The organization reported last year that a Muslim TV boss criticized for having a pro-Islam bias was appointed head of religious broadcasting at the BBC. The report said Aaqil Ahmed was accused of dumbing down religious TV programs. The BBC also had appointed a member of the British Humanist Association to its religious board and a Sikh to produce the Songs of Praise show. The Christian Institute also cited concerns expressed by London Telegraph religion correspondent Jonathan Wynne-Jones, who said as Christians are made the butt of jokes in broadcasting, the line between ridicule and persecution becomes even thinner. In one incident that developed earlier this year, a network program's character who is a born-again Christian was scripted to have an on-screen lesbian kiss with a friend from a Bible study.

World leaders walk economic tightrope in Canada By TOM RAUM and ROB GILLIES, Associated Press Writers – Sun Jun 27, 8:14 pm ET

TORONTO – Wary of slamming on the stimulus brakes too quickly but shaken by the European debt crisis, world leaders pledged Sunday to reduce government deficits in richer countries in half by 2013, with wiggle room to meet the goal.Leaders of 20 major industrial and developing countries generally sided with cutting spending and raising taxes, despite warnings from President Barack Obama that too much austerity too quickly could choke off the global recovery.Serious challenges remain, they cautioned in a closing statement. While growth is returning, the recovery is uneven and fragile, unemployment in many countries remains at unacceptable levels, and the social impact of the crisis is still widely felt, according to the document from the Group of 20 major industrial and developing nations.Obama told a news conference he was satisfied with the outcome, saying he recognized that countries had to proceed at their own pace in either emphasizing growth or budget austerity. We can't all rush to the exits at the same time, Obama said after three days of economic summitry.

Summit participants navigated a careful course between Obama's emphasis on growth and fellow leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel who advocated spending cuts and even tax increases.Advanced economies have committed to fiscal plans that will at least halve deficits by 2013 and stabilize or reduce government debt-to-GDP ratios by 2016, according to the statement. The gross domestic product, or GDP, measures the value of all goods and services, and is considered the best gauge of economic health. At the same time, the statement called for following through on existing stimulus plans, heeding Obama's concerns.Japan was given an exemption from meeting the debt targets because of years of a stagnant economy, and the fact that its huge debt is largely owned by Japanese and not overseas investors.Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the summit host, told reporters that deficit reduction is not an end in itself and that there is an ongoing role for stimulus in the short term.As the summit wrapped up, conditions on the streets of Canada's biggest city remained tense.Police, responding more aggressively than the day before, raided a university campus and rounded up protesters in an effort to quell further violence after youths rampaged through the city the night before, smashing windows and torching police cruisers. Police said they arrested more than 600 demonstrators.

Harper blamed thugs for the violence and suggested the destruction and fires on the streets justified the $900 million that Canada spent for summit security.World leaders also took note of the devastating oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in their statement, which recognized the need to share best practices to protect the marine environment, prevent accidents ... and deal with their consequences. The April 20 explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon rig unleashed the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history. BP is London-based and the disaster has contributed to strains between the U.S. and Britain.Britain's new conservative prime minister, David Cameron, told reporters BP was working hard to cap the well, clean up the mess and compensate victims. At the same time, what we all want is for this important company to be strong and stable for the future, he said. The G-20 statement limits the deficit-reduction goal to the most industrialized nations and offers governments flexibility on when to start balancing their books.French President Nicolas Sarkozy pointed out that France has made even more stringent promises to its European partners on deficit-cutting.Asked if summits were necessary, Sarkozy admitted that they can be exhausting. We end these summits empty, tired, but it's our duty to participate,he said. European countries, in particular, have been rattled by the near-default of Greece on its government debt.

The document doesn't endorse a bank tax advocated by Europe and the U.S. to set up a fund to pay for future bailouts. Canada, Australia and Japan, whose banks did not fail in the crisis, oppose the levy. Instead, it says all countries should make sure taxpayers are not stuck with the bill when banks fail, and leaves it up to individual countries to decide how they want to do that. Canada's Harper urged leaders to send a clear message that as our stimulus plans expire, we will focus on getting our fiscal houses in order. He said global economies needed to walk a tightrope between deficit spending this year, ensuring the fragile recovery continues and then switching to deficit reduction programs. The G-20 includes the world's major industrial countries — the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Canada, Italy and Russia — plus major developing nations such as China, India and Brazil. Some countries will find it more difficult than others to meet the new deficit targets. The United States ran a record deficit of $1.42 trillion last year, or 10 percent of its GDP. Private economists expect the deficit will decline only slightly to $1.3 trillion this year, which would amount to 9 percent of GDP.

Obama's budget plan from February would cut the deficit in half by 2012, as a percentage of GDP. He's also named a commission to examine how to trim the deficit further, to 3 percent of GDP — a level economists generally view as sustainable.
Republicans have suggested it is unlikely that Obama will be able to meet his own deficit-reduction targets and say the White House has yet to put forward a credible plan. And critics complain that the deficit commission Obama set lacks the power to make Congress consider its recommendations. Yet, the U.S. stands a generally good chance of meeting the targets, assuming a strengthening economy between now and then.Britain is in worse shape. Its deficit this year is over 10 percent of GDP in 2010. For European countries with high budget deficits, especially for the U.K. with the highest budget deficit in the G-20, we have got to make our contribution to that sustainable growth by showing the world that we can live within our means, said British Treasury chief George Osborne. In a BBC interview, Osborne said that means stiff cuts in government spending.Britain last week put forward a tough emergency budget, raising taxes and cutting spending by levels not seen since World War II. On the other end of the spectrum, Canada's federal budget deficit will be less than 3 percent of GDP this year. Ottawa's plan aims to balance the budget by 2014-15. As he opened the final session, Harper boasted that Toronto was home of the most solid financial sector in the world. Its banking system was barely affected by the financial meltdown of 2008.The deficit targets that the G-20 countries adopted had been outlined by Harper in a letter he sent to fellow leaders this month. But there were disagreements over them right through a dinner on Saturday night. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner met Sunday for the first time with Japanese Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda and stressed the importance of the G-20's call for strengthening rules for banks to set aside money as cushions against potential losses, according to a Treasury Department official.Obama had urged the G-20 countries to avoid the costly mistake made during the 1930s, when countries reduced government support too quickly and ended up prolonging the Great Depression. The joint statement made only a passing reference to the need for greater exchange rate flexibility and made no specific mention of China's recent announcement that it would allow its exchange rate to rise against the dollar. That was a victory for the Asian superpower, which has repeatedly said it did not want to be lectured by other powers on exchange rates. However, Obama, at his news conference, said: The United States welcomes China's decision to allow its currency to appreciate in response to market forces. We will be watching very closely in the months ahead.Associated Press writers Emma Vandore, Jane Wardell, Darlene Superville, Jeannine Aversa, Foster Klug and Martin Crutsinger contributed from Toronto. Police arrest more than 600 at Toronto summit By ROB GILLIES, Associated Press Writer – Sun Jun 27, 9:30 pm ET

TORONTO – Police raided a university building and rounded up hundreds of protesters Sunday in an effort to quell further violence near the G-20 global economic summit site a day after black-clad youths rampaged through the city, smashing windows and torching police cars. The violence shocked Canada, where civil unrest is almost unknown. Toronto police Sunday said they had never before used tear gas until Saturday's clashes with anti-Globalization activists.Police said they have arrested more than 600 demonstrators, many of whom were hauled away in plastic handcuffs and taken to a temporary holding center constructed for the summit.Police adopted a more aggressive strategy Sunday by going into the crowd to make arrests, compared to the previous day when they stood back as protesters torched four police cars and broke store windows. No serious injuries were reported among police, protesters or bystanders, Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella said Sunday.Thousands of police officers in riot gear formed cordons to prevent radical anti-globalization demonstrations from breaching the steel and concrete security fence surrounding the Group of 20 summit site.Security was being provided by an estimated 19,000 law enforcement officers drawn from across Canada. Security costs for the G-20 in Toronto and the Group of Eight summit that ended Saturday in Huntsville, 140 miles (225 kilometers) away, were estimated at more than US$900 million.Prime Minister Stephen Harper deplored the actions of a few thugs and suggested the violence justified the controversial cost. I think it goes a long way to explaining why we have the kind of security costs around these summits that we do, he said.

The disorder and vandalism occurred just blocks from where U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders were meeting and staying. On Sunday, protesters gathered at a park near the detention center — about 2 1/2 miles (four kilometers) east of where the leaders were meeting.Plainclothes police jumped out of an unmarked van, grabbed a protester off the street and whisked him away in the vehicle. The protest was then quickly broken up by riot police, who set off a device that created a cloud of smoke that sent protesters running down the street. Vella said it was not tear gas.Bridie Wyrock, 20, from Cleveland, Ohio, said she was arrested for public mischief for sitting on a street in the financial district. Wyrock, held for 19 hours before being released, said there weren't enough toilets and said some people resisted detention, but said police treated most people with respect. They put us in cages, blocked off on all three sides, Wyrock said.It was cold and dirty. An anti-poverty group called The Global Call to Action Against Poverty criticized the protesters who committed violence.A bunch of pimply faced teenagers trashing shops and burning cars does not help anyone, said Rajesh Latchman of GCAP South Africa. These hooligans obscure the real issues.Previous global summit protests have turned violent. In 1999, 50,000 protesters shut down World Trade Organization sessions in Seattle as police fired tear gas and rubber bullets. There were some 600 arrests and $3 million in property damage. One man died after clashes with police at a G-20 meeting held in London in April 2009.Associated Press Writers Ian Harrison and Charmaine Noronha contributed to this report.

Obama: US looking for Chinese currency to rise
Sun Jun 27, 6:32 pm ET

TORONTO – President Barack Obama says the U.S. anticipates China's currency will rise significantly as market forces come to bear.Obama made his comments Sunday at the close of the G-20 summit in Toronto.China said ahead of the summit it would start allowing its currency to rise in value against the dollar. But senior Chinese officials have pledged during this weekend's meetings that outside pressure will not force them to let the yuan strengthen more quickly.Obama said that the proof of the pudding is going to be in the eating.

Burgled bullion and butlers spice up French political row by Rory Mulholland – Sun Jun 27, 5:40 pm ET

PARIS (AFP) – Burgled gold bullion, an eavesdropping butler, tax evasion, a minister and the super-rich L'Oreal and Peugeot heirs: a growing political row in France has all the ingredients of a blockbuster novel. The man at the heart of it all is Labour Minister Eric Woerth, a high-flyer in President Nicolas Sarkozy's government who was until recently nicknamed Mister Clean.Woerth was already making headlines in recent weeks as the man overseeing pension reform that is so unpopular that on Thursday hundreds of thousands of French took to the streets to protest against it.But then on June 16 a website published transcripts of tapes secretly made by the butler of France's richest woman, Liliane Bettencourt, the L'Oreal cosmetics heiress with a fortune estimated at 16 billion euros (20 billion dollars). The taped conversations between Bettencourt and her financial adviser reveal that the 87-year-old allegedly hid 80 million euros in Swiss bank accounts while making big donations to friends in Sarkozy's UMP political party. The butler's tapes were the latest twist in a long-running family feud between the billionaire and her daughter, who claims Bettencourt is mentally unfit after she gave more than a billion euros to a photographer friend.

But the affair ballooned when it emerged from the recorded conversations that Woerth's wife Florence worked for a company that managed part of Bettencourt's fortune.French papers and opposition politicians were quick to ask if the Woerths knew of the alleged tax fraud and to note that Woerth last year presented Bettencourt's financial adviser with the Legion d'Honneur civic award.Woerth, who in a previous post led a major crackdown on tax evasion, and his wife vehemently deny any wrong-doing.On Saturday Sarkozy added his voice to government support for the minister, saying Woerth had his total confidence. But the calls are growing for Woerth to put an end to an apparent major conflict of interest, even if few politicians have so far openly called for his resignation.Green party member of parliament Noel Mamere joined the chrous on Sunday when he denounced Sarkozy's ministers as the high priests of zero tolerance who apply to themselves the principle of impunity.Woerth came under fresh scrutiny on Sunday when the Journal du Dimanche newspaper reported that another super-rich heir to a world-class French company had sought him out when he had tax problems. The paper said Robert Peugeot, of the car manufacturer of the same name, dined with Woerth just days after gold ingots -- worth an estimated 150,000 euros -- were stolen late last year by burglars who broke into his Paris home.Peugeot sought out Woerth because, according to sources the paper did not identify,he was afraid of an inquiry into the origin of his gold. The paper noted that Woerth earlier this month awarded a Legion d'Honneur to Peugeot.Woerth's advisors denied the minister had intervened in any way on Peugeot's behalf. The Woerth affair comes at a time when many French are outraged by reports that several government ministers are living the high life at the taxpayer's expense while ordinary people are being told to tighten their belts.
