THE ANTICHRIST,THE ARK,AND THE TEMPLE
At some pointduring the lifetime of this generation, at God's appointed time, the Third Temple will be built, possibly following the War of Gog and Magog. The Holy of Holies in the Third Temple will once again house the ark of the covenant, which was the major object in the Temple that pointed clearly to the second coming of the Messiah. The ark is a profound symbol to the Jews and a guarentee of God's unbreakable covenant with Israel. The presence of the ark also will factor into the evil that will be brought about by the Antichrist during the Tribulation.
A quick overview of the seven-year Tribulation period shows that there are two distinct sections: (1)During the first half (three and one half years), the Antichrist presents himself as the messiah-an economic,political,religous and military genius who rules globally and supports Israel. (2)To begin the second period of three and a half years, the Antichrist will stop the Temple sacrifice. He will then be assassinated,and to the wonder of all humanity,he will be satanically resurrected. He will proclaim that he is god and will defile the Holy of Holies. This defilement of the Temple by stopping the daily sacrifice begins the second half of the seven-year Tribulation.
MATTHEW 24:21
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
The prophet Daniel confirms that the elimination of the daily sacrifice in the Temple by the orders of the Antichrist will begin the three and a half year period (1290 days)that will constitute the Great Tribulation the terrible persecussion of the Antichrist under the Mark of the Beast police totalitarian control system.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
REVELATION 13:16-18

That three and a half year period of the Great Tribulation will end with the cataclysmic battle of Armageddon and Jesus Christ's triumphant return in glory to set up His kingdom on earth.
We know from Daniel that the Antichrist will violate his seven-year treaty with Israel after three and one half years. He will stop the daily sacrifices and enter the Holy of Holies. He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease,and for the overspreading of obominations he shall make it desolate (DANIEL 9:27).
The apostle paul warned about the son of perdition who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God,or that is worshipped; so that he as God sittith in the Temple of God,shewing himself that he is God (2 Thessalonians 2:4). This prophecy will be fulfilled when the Antichrist enters the Third Temple and defiles the restored ark of the covenant,possibly by touching it or sitting on the mercy seat or worse. This would qualify as the obimination of desolation mentioned by Daniel and by Jesus (Matthew 24:15)
MATTHEW 24:15
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:). The Antichrists defilement of the Holy place is so abominable that the wrath of God will be instantly poured out on Jerusalem. Christ referred to this time:When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation,spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place,(whoso readeth,let him understand:)then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains...For then shall be great tribulation,such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time,no,nor ever shall be (Matthew 24:15-16,21).
When the prince of darkness defiles the Temple,many Jews will recognize that he is a false messiah. After the Antichrist defiles the Temple,someone will kill him with a sword. It may be a Jewish believer who breaks through his security and succeeds in stabbing him with a sword in the head or neck. John's description of the assassination suggests the Antichrist will succumb to a head or neck wound:I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death;and his deadly wound was healed:and all the world wondered after the beast (Revelation 13:3). Revelation 13:12 repeats that his deadly wound was healed. Later in the chapter,John elaborates about the beast which had the wound by the sword,and did live (verse 14).
After Satan raises the Antichrist from the dead,the Antichrist's partner, the False Prophet,will use this incredible event-probably watched by billions on the Internet,Cnn, and other media outlets-to convince the world that the Antichrist is the long-awaited messiah. Once the Antichrist consolidates his control of Jerusalem and the Middl East,the false Prophet will force the people living under the duristiction of his world government to worship the Antichrist as god. The 666 mark of the beast will be globallt enforced as a totalitarian police control system. Those who submit to worship the Antichrist as god will accept the 666 mark on their foreheads or right hands. The righeous ones who reject the 666 will not be able to buy or sell anything and will be forced to go undergound to escape being beheaded by the forces of the Antichrist (Revelation 20:4)
REVELATION 20:4
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
From that point until the battle of Armageddon,1260 days later,the world will be convulsed with spiritual and physical warefare between the forces of the Antichrist and the Jews and Gentiles who resist them. The Temple will probably be the initial battleground as the righeous priests battle to the death against supporters of the Antichrist. Revelation 12:17 warns that the dragon (SATAN) was wroth (enraged)with the woman (ISRAELIS),and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,which keep the commandments of God,and have the testamony of Jesus Christ.

EZEKIELS VISION OF THE MILLENNIAL TEMPLE
One of the most hotly debated questions relate to the future Temple is who will build it,the Jewish people or the coming Messiah? Some Jewish sages held that God's command in the Torah demands that Israel must first rebuild the Temple. EXODUS 25:8 declares, Let them make me a sanctuary;that I may dwell amoung them. However,other authorities held that Israel should wait until the Messiah comes to build the Temple Himself. They pointed to the messianic message of the prophet Zechariah (6:12)where the prophet predicted :Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;and he shall grow up out of his place,and he shall build the Temple of the LORD.
The resolution of this apparent contradiction will be found in the fact that the scriptures declare there must be two more Temples in Israel's future. The Third Temple will be built by the Jews in the near future on the Temple Mount. This Third Temple is the one that will be defiled by the Antichrist,launching the Great Tribulation. Finally,the Third Temple will be cleansed by the coming of Jesus Christ as Israel's great High Priest and Messiah following His victory over the Antichrist in the battle of Armageddon. The Fourth Temple,described by the prophets Ezekiel and Zechariah,will then be built by Jesus the Messiah during the Millennial kingdom,thus fulfilling both prophecies. The Temple built by the Messiah will be the fourth and eternal Temple for the Millennium. This millennial Temple will exceed even the glory of the Third Temple.
The Millenial Temple will be enormous,with walls extending more than one mile in each direction. In fact, the Fourth Temple will be so large that it could not possibly fit on the existing Temple Mount or even within the bounaries of the walled Old city of Jerusalem. The land measurements given in Ezekiel (Chapters 40-48)indicate that the Messiah will build the Fourth Temple approximately twenty five miles north of the walled city of Jerusalem.
In every detail this Fourth Temple differs from the Third Temple that must be built by the Jews on the present Temple Mount. The scriptures do not say wether the Third Temple will coexist with the Millennial Temple during the Millennium. However,in light of Daniel's prophecies that Christ will cleanse and sanctify the Third Temple after the Antichrist's defilement,it appears that the newly rebuilt Third Temple will continue to be used for worship during the thousand year rule of Christ on earth. Israel will finally enjoy its long awaited peace under the reign of the Messiah.
Additionally,Ezekiel prophecied a thirteenfold division of the land from Dan to Beer-sheba during the Millennium,which will provide each of Israel's twelve tribes with a parallel portion of land streching horizontally from the Mediterranean Sea to the great river Euphrates (see Ezekiel 48:1-35). Each strip will be 25,000 rods in width measuring north to south (225,000 feet or 43.25 miles wide). In the center of Israel a special portion of land called the Prnce's Portion will be reserved for use by the Nassi,the Messiah (see Ezekiel 45:1-4). The Prince's Portion will contain the new,enlarged city of Jerusalem and the Fourth Temple. The dimensions of the new city Jerusalem will be 4,500 rod square,about 7.75 miles on each side.
Dr Alfred Edersheim, the author of the Temple,explained that according to tradition,the boundary line between the ancient tribal allotment of Judah and Benjamin ran directly through the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple. Ezekiel describes the thirteen portion of the land for the holy oblation (containing the Millennial Temple,the new city of Jerusalem,and the Prince's Portion alloted to the Messiah)as lying between the tribal allotments of Judah and Benjamin once again (see Ezekiel 48:8-10,22). While the other tribes will enjoy possession of their tribal portion forever,the prophet declares that the Levites will not inherit land. Instead,they will dwell in the portion known as the holy oblation with their beloved Messiah and recieve their income from the Temple.
THE SIZE OF THE MILLENNIAL TEMPLE
The new Temple Mount area in the Millennium will be enormous. The Bible states, There shall be for the sanctuary five hundred (rods)in length,with five hundred (rods)in breadth,square round about (Ezekiel 45:2). A rod is equal to 6 cubits or 9 feet,when a cubit is defined as eighteen inches,so each side of the Fourth Temple will measure 4,500 feet-almost one mile long! The world has never seen such a massive structure. This measurement would yield a Temple area of 20.25 million square feet. For the sake of comparison,the Second Temple,built and enlarged by King Herod,was the largest Temple enclosure in history:it encompassed almost thirty-five acres. The entire Temple Mount area that survives today remains thirty-five acres. In other words, Ezekiel's prophecy revealed that the future Millennial Temple will be thirty-six times larger than the Second Temple!
The glory of this Millemnnium Temple will be manifested in the eternal presence of the Shekinah Glory of God. Ezekiel had witnessed in his earlier vision (see Ezekiel 11:22-23)the tragic departure of the Shekinah Glory from Solomon's Temple because of Israel's spiritual rebellion. Fortunately,God's plan of redemption for Israel and the Gentiles includes His promise that Jesus the Messiah will return in His glory to inhabit the Temple of God. When the divine presence dwells once again in Jerusalem, the Jews will take their portion as God's chosen people in their promised Land. Through Israel,God will bless all the nations of the world. God's promise was givin through Ezekiel:Then will I sprinkle clean water uponyou,and ye shall be clean:from all your filthiness,and from all your idols, will I cleanse you (Ezekiel 36:25). The prophecies reveal that it will not be long until the Messiah will return to fulfill all that God has promised concerning the redemption of Israel.

MEMORIES OF LOST WAR VETS TODAY
REMEMBERING THE LOST IN WARS.
In Flanders Fields On August 4, 1914,
Britain declared war on Germany. Canada, as a member of the British Empire, was automatically at war, and its citizens from all across the land responded quickly. Within three weeks, 45,000 Canadians had rushed to join up. John McCrae was among them. He was appointed brigade-surgeon to the First Brigade of the Canadian Forces Artillery with the rank of Major and second-in-command.Just before his departure, he wrote to a friend:It is a terrible state of affairs, and I am going because I think every bachelor, especially if he has experience of war, ought to go. I am really rather afraid, but more afraid to stay at home with my conscience. (Prescott. In Flanders Fields: The Story of John McCrae, p. 77)He took with him a horse named Bonfire, a gift from a friend. Later, John McCrae sent his young nieces and nephews letters supposedly written by Bonfire and signed with a hoof print.In April 1915, John McCrae was in the trenches near Ypres, Belgium, in the area traditionally called Flanders. Some of the heaviest fighting of the First World War took place there during that was known as the Second Battle of Ypres.On April 22, the Germans used deadly chlorine gas against Allied troops in a desperate attempt to break the stalemate. Despite the debilitating effects of the gas, Canadian soldiers fought relentlessly and held the line for another 16 days.
In the trenches, John McCrae tended hundreds of wounded soldiers every day. He was surrounded by the dead and the dying. In a letter to his mother, he wrote of the Battle of Ypres.The general impression in my mind is of a nightmare. We have been in the most bitter of fights. For seventeen days and seventeen nights none of us have had our clothes off, nor our boots even, except occasionally. In all that time while I was awake, gunfire and rifle fire never ceased for sixty seconds ..... And behind it all was the constant background of the sights of the dead, the wounded, the maimed, and a terrible anxiety lest the line should give way.(Prescott. In Flanders Fields: The Story of John McCrae, p. 98)The day before he wrote his famous poem, one of McCrae's closest friends was killed in the fighting and buried in a makeshift grave with a simple wooden cross. Wild poppies were already beginning to bloom between the crosses marking the many graves. Unable to help his friend or any of the others who had died, John McCrae gave them a voice through his poem. It was the second last poem he was to write.Soon after it was written, he was transferred to No. 3 (McGill) Canadian General Hospital in France where he was Chief of Medical Services. The hospital was housed in huge tents at Dannes-Cammiers until cold wet weather forced a move to the site of the ruins of the Jesuit College at Boulogne.
When the hospital opened its doors in February 1916, it was a 1,560-bed facility covering 26 acres. Here the wounded were brought from the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the third Battle of Ypres and from Arras and Passchendaele.

The activity is less.Experts say there are no signs of this activity resembling that of 2002, when El Reventador erupted, leaving a thick cloud of ash covering the Ecuadorean capital.

Indonesia launches tsunami early warning system NOV 11,08
JAKARTA (AFP) – Indonesia launched a high-tech tsunami warning system Tuesday in a bid to prevent a repeat of tragedies like the 2004 Asian tsunami that killed around 170,000 people in the archipelago nation.The 1.4 trillion rupiah (130.2 million dollar) system will be able to detect an earthquake at sea and predict within five minutes whether it could cause a tsunami, the head of Indonesia's geophysics agency Sri Woro Harijono said.The warning system can also predict the height and arrival time of the waves, Harijono said. The system uses a series of four buoys linked to monitoring stations across the country.The system, built with German technology and funding from a number of foreign nations, will eventually include 23 to 24 buoys, she said.President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said at the launch that Indonesia needed the warning system, given the frequency of devastating earthquakes and tsunamis across its 17,000 seismically active islands.We are living on the edge. Three tectonic plates -- the Eurasian, Indo-Australian and Pacific -- meet here, Yudhoyono said. This kind of disaster can strike at any time.The series of buoys that are the backbone of the warning system are linked by cables to detectors that sit on the ocean floor and pick up on the deep-sea earthquakes that cause tsunamis.The signals are then relayed to stations that send out an automated warning that a tsunami is coming.Foreign donor countries will supervise the operation of the tsunami warning system for the first two years as it gets up and running, said Jan Sopaheluwakan from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences.After 2010, Indonesia will take full responsibility for running the system, Sopaheluwakan said.Indonesia was the country worst hit by the earthquake-triggered 2004 Asian tsunami, which killed 168,000 in the country's Aceh province.

MOSCOW – Russia's Central Bank on Tuesday eased its defense of the embattled ruble, which fell sharply and triggered a sell-off in stocks as the country faces its worst financial crisis in a decade.The Central Bank also raised its refinancing interest rate by a full percentage point, to 12 percent, in an effort to stem breakneck capital flight and ease inflation.The ruble fell 1 percent on Tuesday to 30.70 against a dollar-euro basket as the bank widened the ruble's trading corridor by 30 kopecks, or .30 ruble, in a move seen as a concession to a weakening economy and the falling price of oil.The Central Bank had been using its foreign currency reserves to buy rubles and keep it from falling below 30.40 in a practice called a managed float.Analysts say the government will have to move carefully to avoid triggering panic among Russians, whose confidence is being eroded after an oil-fueled, eight-year boom under President Vladimir Putin, who is now prime minister.Many have already switched some of their ruble savings to dollars, fearing a formal devaluation — and a massive fall in confidence among ruble savers could trigger a run on the banks, as in the country's 1998 financial collapse.The move represents a policy turnaround for the Central Bank, which has stoutly resisted devaluation, seeing a steady ruble as critical to attracting foreign investment.Since August, the government has spent billions of dollars buying rubles to prop up the exchange rate, eating away at its massive foreign exchange reserves. As of the end of October, Russia's international reserves had dropped to US$485 billion from US$596 billion in the summer.Analysts have widely anticipated a ruble devaluation toward the end of the year, as Russia's oil-fueled economy flounders amid plunging oil prices. U.S. crude has fallen to below US$60 barrel, off its July peak of US$147. If oil approaches US$50 a barrel, the ruble starts to look expensive, analysts said.The ruble's sharp decline Tuesday came a day after Central Bank chief Sergei Ignatyev said he would not rule out more flexibility in the ruble exchange rate with some tendency toward a weakening of the ruble against some foreign currencies in the current conditions.
Analysts at Alfa Bank criticized the move, saying that it would harm local confidence in the ruble and potentially lead to runs on bank deposits. The bank immediately revised Russia's economic growth forecast to 2 percent from a previous estimate of 4-6 percent.This is a very bad decision, as it will substantially accelerate capital outflow, Alfa said in an analysts' note. Defending the ruble at the new level will further deplete the Central Bank's reserves, making a downgrade of Russia's sovereign rating very likely.Net outflows of capital from Russia hit a record high of $50 billion in October and totaled $83 billion in the past three months, the Cenral Bank said Monday.
The move risks further drops, however.
The government is trying to move the line of defense back to some more manageable price without allowing the currency to collapse. They want to manage the process, said Chris Weafer, chief strategist at UralSib bank. But frankly, 1 percent is not going to cut it. Sberbank, the country's largest lender, plunged by 15.6 percent after reports that savers had withdrawn roughly 80 billion rubles ($2.93 billion) in October, the most ever in one month.In the early fall, the Kremlin moved swiftly to shore up the country's banking system, which fell victim to a crushing confidence crisis amid the economic fallout in the West. The Kremlin has pumped billions of dollars in refinancing aid to state-owned lenders in an effort to get money moving to borrowers.President Medvedev warned state-funded banks Tuesday they must act responsibly — an effort to prevent abuses of the government's bailout. Officials have spoken out against the possibility of banks using the bailout funds only to bolster their balance sheets or move funds offshore instead of lending. Prime Minister Putin said Monday that the movement of money out of the country would be strictly monitored to ensure that state funds aren't being misused. Putin told top bankers that corporate egotism, any kind of corruption or abuse cannot be tolerated.

TORONTO (Reuters) – There will be a steady upward march in personal and business bankruptcy filings in Canada as overspending and falling home prices catch up with individuals and as a slowing economy hurts businesses, experts in the field say.
We're definitely seeing an increase (in calls), I think that people are caught, they've been living on credit, said Linda Stern, vice president of personal restructuring services at Deloitte & Touche Inc in Toronto.Stern estimates her office is working on 30 percent more filings -- actual bankruptcies or proposals to pay off a portion of debt -- than at this point last year.We're busy, every day we're getting many calls and e-mails as people explore their options, she said.Her colleague, Rebecca McKinley, a trustee at Deloitte in Windsor, Ontario, a manufacturing center a stone's throw from Detroit, said her office is dealing with about 17 percent more bankruptcies than last year.In the past year I have seen more and more instances of people who cannot afford their mortgages, while at the same time their house values have dropped, McKinley said.Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy said last week that total bankruptcies in September jumped 28.4 percent from the same month a year earlier. Individual bankruptcies were up nearly 30 percent nationwide, but businesses also posted a 9 percent increase.

DETROIT (Reuters) – Shares of General Motors Corp plummeted 15 percent to a 65-year low on Tuesday, extending recent steep declines on lingering concerns that the automaker's cash holdings might fall below the necessary minimum during the first quarter.Shares of other automakers and parts suppliers also declined across the board amid increasing concerns over whether the industry could survive a deep downturn in U.S. auto sales.Credit analysts at JPMorgan said on Tuesday GM has several options to improve liquidity, but added that the No. 1 U.S. automaker's short-term survival will require the help of the government, the company's suppliers, or both.While government aid would decrease the risk of a bankruptcy, analysts have warned that any assistance would come at a significant cost to existing shareholders.The White House said on Tuesday it was open to considering any proposals from Congress to accelerate loans to the ailing U.S. auto industry from the already-appropriated $25 billion package.GM's shares were down 15 percent, or 51 cents, at $2.85 on the New York Stock Exchange. Brussels to loan funds to Iceland in political gesture

The European Union is to make a political gesture of a nominal loan to Iceland to help the country avoid the collapse of its economy.Describing the sum as small, but not specifying any amount, European Commission spokesman Johannes Laitenberger told reporters in Brussels on Monday (10 November): This should be seen more as a political gesture, as a complement to loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).The IMF announced at the end of October to provide the ailing north Atlantic country, which is not a member of the EU, loans worth €1.6 billion. The fund has predicted that Iceland's economy will contract by as much as 10 percent in 2009.
Norway, also outside the union, has offered Iceland a €500 million loan, atop a €500 million swap facility announced in May at a time when the Icelandic economy was teetering but had yet to topple. Sweden and Denmark have both also agreed to €500 swap facilities. Poland has offered €157 million ($200m) in a loan to the country, while the tiny Faroe Islands have offered €40 million (300m kroner).The commission added that the loan would come only once Iceland had reached agreement with some member states ...on bilateral issues related to the deposit guarantee scheme and the protection of foreign depositors.In the wake of the crash, depositors with UK and Dutch divisions of Icelandic banks lost millions in savings that the two EU governments are attempting to recoup.

NEW YORK – Wall Street caved in to its economic anxieties and closed lower Monday, giving up an early rally over a stimulus package in China and refocusing on the acute pullback in spending that is pummeling U.S. companies.Stocks got only a short-lived boost from China's $586 billion plan to boost its economy through a mix of spending, subsidies, looser credit policies and tax cuts. The package could benefit multinational companies with business in China such as General Electric Co. and Caterpillar Inc.But Wall Street's optimism quickly waned, as it has tended to do since the mid-September downfall of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and government takeover of the troubled insurance giant American International Group. Market participants realized that while China's stimulus is a positive sign that governments around the world are working to fix the global economy, the stimulus itself will likely have only a limited effect in the United States.There was little news Monday to placate investors concerned about the health of corporate America. AIG got more money from the U.S. government, but the nation's struggling automakers have yet to hear whether they, too, will get federal aid. And electronics retailer Circuit City Stores Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection.With few signs of recovery in the economy, investors aren't confident enough to make big bets on stocks, although they look cheap; the major indexes are down about 40 percent from their October 2007 peaks.They'd like to be optimistic, but individual investors are still very worried, said Hugh Johnson, chief investment officer of Johnson Illington Advisors. Uncertainty about the economic outlook is likely to hold any recovery somewhat in check. We're arguably undervalued, so we can work our way higher. And it was just the sixth session in eight weeks that the Dow Jones industrials did not close with a triple-digit move.The Dow fell 73.27, or 0.82 percent, to 8,870.54, after rising by 215 points in early trading and tumbling by as many as 183.Broader indexes also ended lower. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 11.78, or 1.27 percent, to 919.21, and the Nasdaq composite index fell 30.66, or 1.86 percent, to 1,616.74.
The U.S. government said it would invest $40 billion into AIG, which also reported a nearly $25 billion third-quarter loss Monday. AIG, which got its first bailout in September, has so far received a total of $150 billion in government aid. The government's investment Monday helped the insurer's stock rise 26 cents, or 12 percent, to $2.37, but raised worries that problems in the financial sector might be worse than anticipated. Most bank shares fell.On Friday, the major indexes rallied, but ended about 4 percent lower on the week after large mid-week losses.The fact is, we haven't been holding rallies very well, said Scott Fullman, director of derivatives investment strategy for WJB Capital Group. He said investors appeared be cashing out the gains made Friday ahead of what's expected to be a dismal retail sales report this week, and the bond market's Veterans Day holiday Tuesday.Anthony Conroy, managing director and head trader for BNY ConvergEx Group, said we're in that bottoming process, but that trading is apt to be volatile at least until Nov. 15 — the last day that hedge funds and mutual funds can get calls for redemptions for 2008. Redemptions are when investors ask for their money back.With stocks trading erratically, investors moved to the relative safety of government bonds.The Treasury auctioned three-year Treasury notes for the first time since May 2007, and the auction saw strong buying. Meanwhile, the three-month Treasury bill's yield fell to 0.22 percent from 0.28 percent late Friday, and the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 3.76 percent from 3.79 percent late Friday.
Lower yields indicate stronger demand.
Investors are also watching for developments with General Motors Corp., Chrysler and Ford Motor Co. after the automakers met with congressional leaders last week in hopes of securing financial help.GM — one of the 30 companies that make up the Dow — fell $1, or 23 percent, to $3.36. Ford shed 9 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $1.93.
Democratic leaders in Congress on Saturday asked the Bush administration to provide more aid to the struggling auto industry, which is losing money and shedding jobs as sales have dropped to their lowest level in a quarter century. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said in a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that the administration should consider expanding the $700 billion bailout program to include car companies. On Monday, Circuit City filed for bankruptcy protection about a week after it said it would close 20 percent of its stores. The electronics retailer, based in Richmond, Va., has been struggling as nervous consumers spend less and credit has become tighter. Shares sank 15 cents, or 60 percent, to 10 cents. In other corporate news, Tribune Co., the owner of the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, said it swung to a third-quarter loss of $121.6 million due to falling newspaper advertising sales. Citigroup Inc. is in talks to acquire a regional bank to boost the bank's presence in areas it already operates, including the Northeast, California and Texas, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The report did not name a potential target. Citigroup shares fell 61 cents, or 5.2 percent, to $11.21. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 12.69, or 2.51 percent, to 493.10. Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 2 to 1 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.45 billion shares, down from 4.80 billion shares late Friday. A barrel of light sweet crude rose $1.37 to settle at $62.41 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices rose. JERUSALEM – A luxurious gold, pearl and emerald earring provides a new visual clue about the life of the elite in Jerusalem some 2,000 years ago. And its discovery was a true eureka moment for excavators.The piece was found beneath a parking lot next to the walls of Jerusalem's Old City. It dates to the Roman period just after the time of Jesus, said Doron Ben-Ami, who directed the dig.The earring was uncovered in a destroyed Byzantine structure built centuries after the piece was made, showing it was likely passed down through generations, he said.Archaeologists came upon the earring in a corner while excavating the ruins of the building under a parking lot. Suddenly one of the excavators came up shouting Eureka! said Ben-Ami.The find is eye-catching: A large pearl inlaid in gold with two drop pieces, each with an emerald and pearl set in gold.It must have belonged to someone of the elite in Jerusalem, Ben-Ami said. Such a precious item, it couldn't be one of just ordinary people.
Archaeologist Shimon Gibson, who was not involved in the dig, said the find was truly amazing, less because of its Roman origins than for its precious nature.
Jewelry is hardly preserved in archaeological context in Jerusalem, he said, because precious metals were often sold or melted down during the many historic takeovers of the city.It adds to the visual history of Jerusalem, Gibson added, saying it brings attention to the life of women in antiquity.Ben-Ami the piece's placement in the destroyed building protected it from looters and kept it preserved. Its location also showed that it must be older than the house itself.The Israel Antiquities Authority said the earring appeared to have been made using a technique similar to that depicted in portraits from Roman-era Egypt. Experts were able to date the earring by comparing it to similar finds in Europe.In a statement released Monday, the Antiquities Authority said the earring was astonishingly well-preserved. Finds from the Roman period are rare in Jerusalem, Ben-Ami said, because the city was destroyed by the Roman Empire in the first century A.D.Though Gibson dates the piece slightly later than the antiquities authority, to sometime between the second and fourth centuries A.D., he said its quality and beauty were impressive.And Ben-Ami said he expects more small, luxury items to turn up in future excavations.

JERUSALEM – Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday pledged to continue negotiations with the Palestinians if he wins February elections, backing away from earlier hints he would abandon U.S.-backed peace talks.But Netanyahu gave no indication he would make significant concessions.Netanyahu refuses to discuss the future of the disputed city of Jerusalem, one of the core issues in negotiations for the past year. On Sunday, international Mideast mediators reaffirmed this framework, even as Netanyahu's office said he did not. Netanyahu's position on other key issues also falls far short of Palestinian and international demands.His statement that peace talks would move forward if he is elected prime minister appeared to be aimed at easing international concerns and sending a message to the Israeli electorate that he can get along with the rest of the world.Speaking to reporters after meeting international peace envoy Tony Blair, Netanyahu said that if his hawkish Likud party returns to power in February elections, he would emphasize efforts to boost the ailing Palestinian economy but would not halt political talks.We will move both the political negotiations forward and the economic peace that we've been working on, Netanyahu said.
A day earlier, his office said there was no point continuing the talks the talks inaugurated at an international conference in Annapolis, Md., last November.The talks call on Israel and the Palestinians to resolve all outstanding issues between them, including the conflicting claims to the holy city of Jerusalem and a final border between Israel and a future Palestinian state.Netanyahu gave few details on his vision for peace. VIENNA, Austria – Samples taken from a Syrian site bombed by Israel on suspicion it was a covert nuclear reactor contained traces of uranium combined with other elements that merit further investigation, diplomats said Monday.The diplomats — who demanded anonymity because their information was confidential — said the uranium was processed and not in raw form, suggesting some kind of nuclear link.But one of the diplomats said the uranium finding itself was significant only in the context of other traces found in the oil or air samples taken by International Atomic Energy Agency experts during their visit to the site in June.Syria has a rudimentary declared nuclear program revolving around research and the production of isotopes for medical and agricultural uses, using a small, 27-kilowatt reactor, and the uranium traces might have originated from there and inadvertently been carried to the bombed site. But taken together, the uranium and the other components found on the environmental swipes tell a story worth investigating, said the diplomat.

Ibrahim Othman, Syria's nuclear chief, has said his country would wait for final environmental results before deciding how to respond to repeated IAEA requests for follow-up visits to the one in June, when the samples were collected.But a diplomat attending a closed IAEA meeting in September told the AP that Syrian Ambassador Mohammed Badi Khattab suggested his country would not allow further visits under any circumstances because it was still technically at war with Israel and was concerned any additional IAEA probe would expose some of its non-nuclear military secrets.
Beyond wanting to revisit the site bombed by Israel, IAEA experts also want to follow up on U.S, Israeli and other intelligence that North Korea was involved in building the alleged Syrian program.Also, IAEA officials have been seeking permission to visit three other sites purportedly linked to the alleged reactor destroyed by the Israelis — although Syria already has said that those locations are off limits because they are in restricted military areas.Syria fears the IAEA probe could lead to a massive investigation similar to the probe Iran has been subjected to for more than five years — and to related fallout. Iran is under U.N. sanctions because of its refusal to heed Security Council demands to curb its nuclear activities.IAEA experts came back June 25 from a four-day visit carrying air and soil samples from the Al Kibar site hit by Israel. But intelligence suggests that radioactive material had not yet been introduced into the alleged reactor before it was destroyed.That left the inspectors looking for other components, including minute quantities of graphite, a cooling element in the type of North Korean prototype that allegedly was being built with help from Pyongyang. Such a reactor contains hundreds of tons of graphite, and any major explosion would have sent dust over the immediate area.

EU confirms plans to step up Bosnia presence

EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday (10 November) reiterated the bloc's will to play a greater role in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while stressing concerns over the country's stability and expressing hopes that a political agreement signed over the weekend between the three main political parties was a step in the right direction.The Council emphasised the European Union's renewed willingness to step up its involvement in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to assume its responsibilities by making use of all the instruments at its disposal, the ministers' conclusions read. The Council reiterated its support for the aim of transition from the Office of the High Representative to a stronger European Union presence.Currently, the international community and the EU have a representative in Sarajevo - Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajcak - who wields significant powers. The Office of the High Representative (OHR) was enshrined in the peace treaty ending the 1992-1995 Bosnia war - the so-called Dayton Agreements.But with the OHR likely to close by June next year, the EU has been considering ways to step up its presence in the country.The foreign ministers also welcomed a joint report drafted and presented to them by EU enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, which stresses that a stronger engagement of the EU is today more essential than ever before.
Decision on Althea postponed to March
The bloc's diplomats voiced deep concern at Bosnia and Herzegovina's unstable political situation, and warned that the use of nationalist rhetoric by its leaders could ultimately threaten power sharing and the foundations of the state.With relations between the Bosniak and Serb leaders in the country - Haris Silajdzic and Milorad Dodik - deteriorating, the EU has multiplied warnings to Sarajevo in the last few months. Last week in its progress report on Bosnia, the European Commission said that inflammatory rhetoric has adversely affected the functioning of institutions and slowed down reform in the country.Over the weekend however, Bosnia's three main ethnic groups – Croat, Muslim and Serb – reached a deal to pursue EU-required reforms, including changing the country's constitution and holding a census by 2011.The EU noted with satisfaction the agreement ... between three of the main Bosnian parties and called for these proposals to be rapidly put into concrete form and invited the Bosnian political forces to unite around this project.Nevertheless, the bloc has at this point postponed a decision on withdrawing its peacekeeping force from the country.Everybody agrees that the main military job has been done but the political situation in Bosnia means we have to take our time, French defence minister Herve Morin, whose country holds the six-month rotating EU presidency, said after the meeting of the bloc's defence and foreign ministers.The idea is that we would revisit this in March and decide whether or not the operation should be concluded, he was quoted as saying by Reuters.The EU's Althea force replaced the NATO-led SFOR in December 2004 to oversee the military implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Kosovo: EULEX deadlock
Meanwhile, a deadlock on the deployment of the EU's police and justice mission EULEX in Kosovo seemed set to continue on Monday, after Kosovar Albanians rejected an amended UN plan on how EULEX should proceed.According to the plan - which reportedly now fits Serb demands - police in most of Kosovo, or the majority Albanian areas, would be under an EU umbrella, while in the northern part mostly populated by Serbs, they would remain under UN supervision.We respect all initiatives but we have said that Kosovo is an independent country, Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu said in Pristina.These points are interfering in the constitution of Kosovo, he added, newswires report.Mr Solana said in Brussels he still hoped an agreement between Kosovars, Serbs and the UN on EULEX deployment can be reached by the end of the week.
French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner added: The UN system has been more or less accepted by the Serbs. It must be now accepted by Kosovars.The deployment of the EULEX police and civilian administration team in Kosovo has already suffered several delays, with the initial plan stating it should be finalised by the end of the year.

EU defence ministers on Monday launched the bloc's first naval security operation to fight pirates off the coast of Somalia starting December this year. But German and British opposition scuppered French calls to send EU troops to another African conflict zone - eastern Congo.Though a bit hesitant in the beginning, Great Britain will lead the anti-piracy operation, dubbed Atalanta, with a British vice-admiral in charge and the headquarters established in Northwood, near London, French defence minister Herve Morin said on Monday (10 November) after chairing the EU meeting.
Britain is a great maritime power. It is a nice symbol that this operation be commanded by a British officer and from a British headquarters. It is a good symbol of the evolution in European defence, and I would say, of its coming of age, he said.

No troops to Congo
France failed to get the support from the 26 other member states for sending a 1,500-strong EU battlegroup to support the 17,000 UN troops in their efforts to stem the violence in eastern Congo, however.According to the International Herald Tribune, opposition from Germany and Great Britain blocked this French initiative.French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner said there was an urgent need for 3,000 more soldiers to reinforce the 17,000 UN troops in Congo. Pan-European aircraft fleet
After experiencing difficulties in supporting the humanitarian and peacekeeping missions such as the one in Chad, EU ministers agreed on Monday to build a pan-European military aircraft transport fleet, to be operational in the next decade.
Pooling European aircraft and services will improve the lift capabilities and alleviate a significant European shortfall, Alexander Weis, chief executive of the European Defence Agency told defence ministers on Monday, explaining that the initiative would pool both European and US aircraft and transporters.Depending on their capabilities, the countries will make aircraft available for use, purchase or exchange flying hours and pool resources for training and maintenance.
EU resumes Russia talks, isolating Lithuania

But Lithuania has refused to bless the move, describing it a mistake.The decision came after a pretty lively debate by EU foreign ministers on Monday (10 November), with Bernard Kouchner - speaking on behalf of France's EU presidency - saying that 26 out of 27 [EU members] is not so bad ...and enough. EU external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner added that it was in the union's objective interest to resume the EU-Russia negotiations. The existing treaty is outdated and needs to be modernised on issues such as energy security, she argued. Talks on a new strategic deal were put on ice on 1 September in response to Russian military retaliation over Georgia's crackdown on separatists in its breakaway region of South Ossetia. Russian troops were to withdraw to positions held before the short war to allow the resumption of EU talks.
Lithuania says Moscow has not lived up to the commitment, as its army operates in the Akhalgori district and the upper Kodori valley - zones inside the breakaway regions, but previously controlled by Georgian authorities. Russia now has 10,000 troops stationed in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, compared to 3,000 earlier.What has changed since 1 September? Why are we changing our own line on withdrawal of troops and the resumption of talks with Russia? Lithuanian deputy foreign minister Zygimantes Pavilionis told journalists after the ministerial meeting. It is not the right timing, he added, underlining that the union should not play with values and international committments. Is it a Munich of today? Well, we will ask France and the European Commission in years to come. History will show who was right, Mr Pavilionis said. Western powers France, the UK and Italy in Munich in 1938 agreed Germany could annex part of the then Czechoslovakia in a move seen by historians as contributing to World War II. Poland, which had earlier supported the Lithuanian stance, peeled away at the last minute. It's a dilemma. SAQQARA, Egypt – Egypt's chief archaeologist has announced the discovery of a 4,300-year-old pyramid in Saqqara, the sprawling necropolis and burial site of the rulers of ancient Memphis.The pyramid is said to belong to Queen Sesheshet, the mother of King Teti who was the founder of the 6th Dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom.Egypt's antiquities chief Zahi Hawass made the announcement Tuesday at the site in Saqqara, about 12 miles south of Cairo.Hawass' team has been excavating the site for two years. He says the discovery was only made two months ago when it became clear that the 16-foot-tall structure uncovered from the sand was a pyramid.Hawass says the new pyramid is the 118th discovered so far in Egypt.

He was appointed brigade-surgeon to the First Brigade of the Canadian Forces Artillery with the rank of Major and second-in-command.Just before his departure, he wrote to a friend:It is a terrible state of affairs, and I am going because I think every bachelor, especially if he has experience of war, ought to go. I am really rather afraid, but more afraid to stay at home with my conscience. (Prescott. Later, John McCrae sent his young nieces and nephews letters supposedly written by Bonfire and signed with a hoof print.In April 1915, John McCrae was in the trenches near Ypres, Belgium, in the area traditionally called Flanders. It was the second last poem he was to write.Soon after it was written, he was transferred to No. 3 (McGill) Canadian General Hospital in France where he was Chief of Medical Services. The hospital was housed in huge tents at Dannes-Cammiers until cold wet weather forced a move to the site of the ruins of the Jesuit College at Boulogne.
When the hospital opened its doors in February 1916, it was a 1,560-bed facility covering 26 acres. Here the wounded were brought from the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the third Battle of Ypres and from Arras and Passchendaele.

JAKARTA (AFP) – Indonesia launched a high-tech tsunami warning system Tuesday in a bid to prevent a repeat of tragedies like the 2004 Asian tsunami that killed around 170,000 people in the archipelago nation.The 1.4 trillion rupiah (130.2 million dollar) system will be able to detect an earthquake at sea and predict within five minutes whether it could cause a tsunami, the head of Indonesia's geophysics agency Sri Woro Harijono said.The warning system can also predict the height and arrival time of the waves, Harijono said. The system uses a series of four buoys linked to monitoring stations across the country.The system, built with German technology and funding from a number of foreign nations, will eventually include 23 to 24 buoys, she said.President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said at the launch that Indonesia needed the warning system, given the frequency of devastating earthquakes and tsunamis across its 17,000 seismically active islands.We are living on the edge. Three tectonic plates -- the Eurasian, Indo-Australian and Pacific -- meet here, Yudhoyono said. MOSCOW – Russia's Central Bank on Tuesday eased its defense of the embattled ruble, which fell sharply and triggered a sell-off in stocks as the country faces its worst financial crisis in a decade.The Central Bank also raised its refinancing interest rate by a full percentage point, to 12 percent, in an effort to stem breakneck capital flight and ease inflation.The ruble fell 1 percent on Tuesday to 30.70 against a dollar-euro basket as the bank widened the ruble's trading corridor by 30 kopecks, or .30 ruble, in a move seen as a concession to a weakening economy and the falling price of oil.The Central Bank had been using its foreign currency reserves to buy rubles and keep it from falling below 30.40 in a practice called a managed float.Analysts say the government will have to move carefully to avoid triggering panic among Russians, whose confidence is being eroded after an oil-fueled, eight-year boom under President Vladimir Putin, who is now prime minister.Many have already switched some of their ruble savings to dollars, fearing a formal devaluation — and a massive fall in confidence among ruble savers could trigger a run on the banks, as in the country's 1998 financial collapse.The move represents a policy turnaround for the Central Bank, which has stoutly resisted devaluation, seeing a steady ruble as critical to attracting foreign investment.Since August, the government has spent billions of dollars buying rubles to prop up the exchange rate, eating away at its massive foreign exchange reserves. As of the end of October, Russia's international reserves had dropped to US$485 billion from US$596 billion in the summer.Analysts have widely anticipated a ruble devaluation toward the end of the year, as Russia's oil-fueled economy flounders amid plunging oil prices. U.S. crude has fallen to below US$60 barrel, off its July peak of US$147. If oil approaches US$50 a barrel, the ruble starts to look expensive, analysts said.The ruble's sharp decline Tuesday came a day after Central Bank chief Sergei Ignatyev said he would not rule out more flexibility in the ruble exchange rate with some tendency toward a weakening of the ruble against some foreign currencies in the current conditions.
Analysts at Alfa Bank criticized the move, saying that it would harm local confidence in the ruble and potentially lead to runs on bank deposits. The bank immediately revised Russia's economic growth forecast to 2 percent from a previous estimate of 4-6 percent.This is a very bad decision, as it will substantially accelerate capital outflow, Alfa said in an analysts' note. Defending the ruble at the new level will further deplete the Central Bank's reserves, making a downgrade of Russia's sovereign rating very likely.Net outflows of capital from Russia hit a record high of $50 billion in October and totaled $83 billion in the past three months, the Cenral Bank said Monday.
The move risks further drops, however.
The government is trying to move the line of defense back to some more manageable price without allowing the currency to collapse. They want to manage the process, said Chris Weafer, chief strategist at UralSib bank. But frankly, 1 percent is not going to cut it. Sberbank, the country's largest lender, plunged by 15.6 percent after reports that savers had withdrawn roughly 80 billion rubles ($2.93 billion) in October, the most ever in one month.In the early fall, the Kremlin moved swiftly to shore up the country's banking system, which fell victim to a crushing confidence crisis amid the economic fallout in the West. The Kremlin has pumped billions of dollars in refinancing aid to state-owned lenders in an effort to get money moving to borrowers.President Medvedev warned state-funded banks Tuesday they must act responsibly — an effort to prevent abuses of the government's bailout. Officials have spoken out against the possibility of banks using the bailout funds only to bolster their balance sheets or move funds offshore instead of lending. Prime Minister Putin said Monday that the movement of money out of the country would be strictly monitored to ensure that state funds aren't being misused. Putin told top bankers that corporate egotism, any kind of corruption or abuse cannot be tolerated.

TORONTO (Reuters) – There will be a steady upward march in personal and business bankruptcy filings in Canada as overspending and falling home prices catch up with individuals and as a slowing economy hurts businesses, experts in the field say.
We're definitely seeing an increase (in calls), I think that people are caught, they've been living on credit, said Linda Stern, vice president of personal restructuring services at Deloitte & Touche Inc in Toronto.Stern estimates her office is working on 30 percent more filings -- actual bankruptcies or proposals to pay off a portion of debt -- than at this point last year.We're busy, every day we're getting many calls and e-mails as people explore their options, she said.Her colleague, Rebecca McKinley, a trustee at Deloitte in Windsor, Ontario, a manufacturing center a stone's throw from Detroit, said her office is dealing with about 17 percent more bankruptcies than last year.In the past year I have seen more and more instances of people who cannot afford their mortgages, while at the same time their house values have dropped, McKinley said.Canada's Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy said last week that total bankruptcies in September jumped 28.4 percent from the same month a year earlier. Individual bankruptcies were up nearly 30 percent nationwide, but businesses also posted a 9 percent increase.

DETROIT (Reuters) – Shares of General Motors Corp plummeted 15 percent to a 65-year low on Tuesday, extending recent steep declines on lingering concerns that the automaker's cash holdings might fall below the necessary minimum during the first quarter.Shares of other automakers and parts suppliers also declined across the board amid increasing concerns over whether the industry could survive a deep downturn in U.S. auto sales.Credit analysts at JPMorgan said on Tuesday GM has several options to improve liquidity, but added that the No. 1 U.S. automaker's short-term survival will require the help of the government, the company's suppliers, or both.While government aid would decrease the risk of a bankruptcy, analysts have warned that any assistance would come at a significant cost to existing shareholders.The White House said on Tuesday it was open to considering any proposals from Congress to accelerate loans to the ailing U.S. auto industry from the already-appropriated $25 billion package.GM's shares were down 15 percent, or 51 cents, at $2.85 on the New York Stock Exchange. Brussels to loan funds to Iceland in political gesture

The European Union is to make a political gesture of a nominal loan to Iceland to help the country avoid the collapse of its economy.Describing the sum as small, but not specifying any amount, European Commission spokesman Johannes Laitenberger told reporters in Brussels on Monday (10 November): This should be seen more as a political gesture, as a complement to loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).The IMF announced at the end of October to provide the ailing north Atlantic country, which is not a member of the EU, loans worth €1.6 billion. The fund has predicted that Iceland's economy will contract by as much as 10 percent in 2009.
Norway, also outside the union, has offered Iceland a €500 million loan, atop a €500 million swap facility announced in May at a time when the Icelandic economy was teetering but had yet to topple. Sweden and Denmark have both also agreed to €500 swap facilities. Poland has offered €157 million ($200m) in a loan to the country, while the tiny Faroe Islands have offered €40 million (300m kroner).The commission added that the loan would come only once Iceland had reached agreement with some member states ...on bilateral issues related to the deposit guarantee scheme and the protection of foreign depositors.In the wake of the crash, depositors with UK and Dutch divisions of Icelandic banks lost millions in savings that the two EU governments are attempting to recoup.

NEW YORK – Wall Street caved in to its economic anxieties and closed lower Monday, giving up an early rally over a stimulus package in China and refocusing on the acute pullback in spending that is pummeling U.S. companies.Stocks got only a short-lived boost from China's $586 billion plan to boost its economy through a mix of spending, subsidies, looser credit policies and tax cuts. The package could benefit multinational companies with business in China such as General Electric Co. and Caterpillar Inc.But Wall Street's optimism quickly waned, as it has tended to do since the mid-September downfall of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. and government takeover of the troubled insurance giant American International Group. Market participants realized that while China's stimulus is a positive sign that governments around the world are working to fix the global economy, the stimulus itself will likely have only a limited effect in the United States.There was little news Monday to placate investors concerned about the health of corporate America. AIG got more money from the U.S. government, but the nation's struggling automakers have yet to hear whether they, too, will get federal aid. And electronics retailer Circuit City Stores Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection.With few signs of recovery in the economy, investors aren't confident enough to make big bets on stocks, although they look cheap; the major indexes are down about 40 percent from their October 2007 peaks.They'd like to be optimistic, but individual investors are still very worried, said Hugh Johnson, chief investment officer of Johnson Illington Advisors. Uncertainty about the economic outlook is likely to hold any recovery somewhat in check. We're arguably undervalued, so we can work our way higher. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 11.78, or 1.27 percent, to 919.21, and the Nasdaq composite index fell 30.66, or 1.86 percent, to 1,616.74.
The U.S. government said it would invest $40 billion into AIG, which also reported a nearly $25 billion third-quarter loss Monday. AIG, which got its first bailout in September, has so far received a total of $150 billion in government aid. The government's investment Monday helped the insurer's stock rise 26 cents, or 12 percent, to $2.37, but raised worries that problems in the financial sector might be worse than anticipated. Most bank shares fell.On Friday, the major indexes rallied, but ended about 4 percent lower on the week after large mid-week losses.The fact is, we haven't been holding rallies very well, said Scott Fullman, director of derivatives investment strategy for WJB Capital Group. He said investors appeared be cashing out the gains made Friday ahead of what's expected to be a dismal retail sales report this week, and the bond market's Veterans Day holiday Tuesday.Anthony Conroy, managing director and head trader for BNY ConvergEx Group, said we're in that bottoming process, but that trading is apt to be volatile at least until Nov. 15 — the last day that hedge funds and mutual funds can get calls for redemptions for 2008. Redemptions are when investors ask for their money back.With stocks trading erratically, investors moved to the relative safety of government bonds.The Treasury auctioned three-year Treasury notes for the first time since May 2007, and the auction saw strong buying. Meanwhile, the three-month Treasury bill's yield fell to 0.22 percent from 0.28 percent late Friday, and the yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 3.76 percent from 3.79 percent late Friday.
Lower yields indicate stronger demand.
Investors are also watching for developments with General Motors Corp., Chrysler and Ford Motor Co. after the automakers met with congressional leaders last week in hopes of securing financial help.GM — one of the 30 companies that make up the Dow — fell $1, or 23 percent, to $3.36. Ford shed 9 cents, or 4.5 percent, to $1.93.
Democratic leaders in Congress on Saturday asked the Bush administration to provide more aid to the struggling auto industry, which is losing money and shedding jobs as sales have dropped to their lowest level in a quarter century. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said in a letter to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson that the administration should consider expanding the $700 billion bailout program to include car companies. On Monday, Circuit City filed for bankruptcy protection about a week after it said it would close 20 percent of its stores. The electronics retailer, based in Richmond, Va., has been struggling as nervous consumers spend less and credit has become tighter. Shares sank 15 cents, or 60 percent, to 10 cents. In other corporate news, Tribune Co., the owner of the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, said it swung to a third-quarter loss of $121.6 million due to falling newspaper advertising sales. Citigroup Inc. is in talks to acquire a regional bank to boost the bank's presence in areas it already operates, including the Northeast, California and Texas, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The report did not name a potential target. Citigroup shares fell 61 cents, or 5.2 percent, to $11.21. The Russell 2000 index of smaller companies fell 12.69, or 2.51 percent, to 493.10. Declining issues outnumbered advancers by about 2 to 1 on the New York Stock Exchange, where consolidated volume came to 4.45 billion shares, down from 4.80 billion shares late Friday. A barrel of light sweet crude rose $1.37 to settle at $62.41 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The dollar was mixed against other major currencies, while gold prices rose. JERUSALEM – A luxurious gold, pearl and emerald earring provides a new visual clue about the life of the elite in Jerusalem some 2,000 years ago. And its discovery was a true eureka moment for excavators.The piece was found beneath a parking lot next to the walls of Jerusalem's Old City. It dates to the Roman period just after the time of Jesus, said Doron Ben-Ami, who directed the dig.The earring was uncovered in a destroyed Byzantine structure built centuries after the piece was made, showing it was likely passed down through generations, he said.Archaeologists came upon the earring in a corner while excavating the ruins of the building under a parking lot. Suddenly one of the excavators came up shouting Eureka! said Ben-Ami.The find is eye-catching: A large pearl inlaid in gold with two drop pieces, each with an emerald and pearl set in gold.It must have belonged to someone of the elite in Jerusalem, Ben-Ami said. Such a precious item, it couldn't be one of just ordinary people.
Archaeologist Shimon Gibson, who was not involved in the dig, said the find was truly amazing, less because of its Roman origins than for its precious nature.
Jewelry is hardly preserved in archaeological context in Jerusalem, he said, because precious metals were often sold or melted down during the many historic takeovers of the city.It adds to the visual history of Jerusalem, Gibson added, saying it brings attention to the life of women in antiquity.Ben-Ami the piece's placement in the destroyed building protected it from looters and kept it preserved. Its location also showed that it must be older than the house itself.The Israel Antiquities Authority said the earring appeared to have been made using a technique similar to that depicted in portraits from Roman-era Egypt. Experts were able to date the earring by comparing it to similar finds in Europe.In a statement released Monday, the Antiquities Authority said the earring was astonishingly well-preserved. Finds from the Roman period are rare in Jerusalem, Ben-Ami said, because the city was destroyed by the Roman Empire in the first century A.D.Though Gibson dates the piece slightly later than the antiquities authority, to sometime between the second and fourth centuries A.D., he said its quality and beauty were impressive.And Ben-Ami said he expects more small, luxury items to turn up in future excavations.

JERUSALEM – Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday pledged to continue negotiations with the Palestinians if he wins February elections, backing away from earlier hints he would abandon U.S.-backed peace talks.But Netanyahu gave no indication he would make significant concessions.Netanyahu refuses to discuss the future of the disputed city of Jerusalem, one of the core issues in negotiations for the past year. On Sunday, international Mideast mediators reaffirmed this framework, even as Netanyahu's office said he did not. Netanyahu's position on other key issues also falls far short of Palestinian and international demands.His statement that peace talks would move forward if he is elected prime minister appeared to be aimed at easing international concerns and sending a message to the Israeli electorate that he can get along with the rest of the world.Speaking to reporters after meeting international peace envoy Tony Blair, Netanyahu said that if his hawkish Likud party returns to power in February elections, he would emphasize efforts to boost the ailing Palestinian economy but would not halt political talks.We will move both the political negotiations forward and the economic peace that we've been working on, Netanyahu said.

VIENNA, Austria – Samples taken from a Syrian site bombed by Israel on suspicion it was a covert nuclear reactor contained traces of uranium combined with other elements that merit further investigation, diplomats said Monday.The diplomats — who demanded anonymity because their information was confidential — said the uranium was processed and not in raw form, suggesting some kind of nuclear link.But one of the diplomats said the uranium finding itself was significant only in the context of other traces found in the oil or air samples taken by International Atomic Energy Agency experts during their visit to the site in June.Syria has a rudimentary declared nuclear program revolving around research and the production of isotopes for medical and agricultural uses, using a small, 27-kilowatt reactor, and the uranium traces might have originated from there and inadvertently been carried to the bombed site. But taken together, the uranium and the other components found on the environmental swipes tell a story worth investigating, said the diplomat.

Beyond wanting to revisit the site bombed by Israel, IAEA experts also want to follow up on U.S, Israeli and other intelligence that North Korea was involved in building the alleged Syrian program.Also, IAEA officials have been seeking permission to visit three other sites purportedly linked to the alleged reactor destroyed by the Israelis — although Syria already has said that those locations are off limits because they are in restricted military areas.Syria fears the IAEA probe could lead to a massive investigation similar to the probe Iran has been subjected to for more than five years — and to related fallout. Iran is under U.N. sanctions because of its refusal to heed Security Council demands to curb its nuclear activities.IAEA experts came back June 25 from a four-day visit carrying air and soil samples from the Al Kibar site hit by Israel. But intelligence suggests that radioactive material had not yet been introduced into the alleged reactor before it was destroyed.That left the inspectors looking for other components, including minute quantities of graphite, a cooling element in the type of North Korean prototype that allegedly was being built with help from Pyongyang. Such a reactor contains hundreds of tons of graphite, and any major explosion would have sent dust over the immediate area.

EU confirms plans to step up Bosnia presence

EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Monday (10 November) reiterated the bloc's will to play a greater role in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while stressing concerns over the country's stability and expressing hopes that a political agreement signed over the weekend between the three main political parties was a step in the right direction.The Council emphasised the European Union's renewed willingness to step up its involvement in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to assume its responsibilities by making use of all the instruments at its disposal, the ministers' conclusions read. The Council reiterated its support for the aim of transition from the Office of the High Representative to a stronger European Union presence.Currently, the international community and the EU have a representative in Sarajevo - Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajcak - who wields significant powers. The Office of the High Representative (OHR) was enshrined in the peace treaty ending the 1992-1995 Bosnia war - the so-called Dayton Agreements.But with the OHR likely to close by June next year, the EU has been considering ways to step up its presence in the country.The foreign ministers also welcomed a joint report drafted and presented to them by EU enlargement commissioner Olli Rehn and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, which stresses that a stronger engagement of the EU is today more essential than ever before.
Decision on Althea postponed to March
The bloc's diplomats voiced deep concern at Bosnia and Herzegovina's unstable political situation, and warned that the use of nationalist rhetoric by its leaders could ultimately threaten power sharing and the foundations of the state.With relations between the Bosniak and Serb leaders in the country - Haris Silajdzic and Milorad Dodik - deteriorating, the EU has multiplied warnings to Sarajevo in the last few months. Last week in its progress report on Bosnia, the European Commission said that inflammatory rhetoric has adversely affected the functioning of institutions and slowed down reform in the country.Over the weekend however, Bosnia's three main ethnic groups – Croat, Muslim and Serb – reached a deal to pursue EU-required reforms, including changing the country's constitution and holding a census by 2011.The EU noted with satisfaction the agreement ... between three of the main Bosnian parties and called for these proposals to be rapidly put into concrete form and invited the Bosnian political forces to unite around this project.Nevertheless, the bloc has at this point postponed a decision on withdrawing its peacekeeping force from the country.Everybody agrees that the main military job has been done but the political situation in Bosnia means we have to take our time, French defence minister Herve Morin, whose country holds the six-month rotating EU presidency, said after the meeting of the bloc's defence and foreign ministers.The idea is that we would revisit this in March and decide whether or not the operation should be concluded, he was quoted as saying by Reuters.The EU's Althea force replaced the NATO-led SFOR in December 2004 to oversee the military implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
Kosovo: EULEX deadlock
Meanwhile, a deadlock on the deployment of the EU's police and justice mission EULEX in Kosovo seemed set to continue on Monday, after Kosovar Albanians rejected an amended UN plan on how EULEX should proceed.According to the plan - which reportedly now fits Serb demands - police in most of Kosovo, or the majority Albanian areas, would be under an EU umbrella, while in the northern part mostly populated by Serbs, they would remain under UN supervision.We respect all initiatives but we have said that Kosovo is an independent country, Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu said in Pristina.These points are interfering in the constitution of Kosovo, he added, newswires report.Mr Solana said in Brussels he still hoped an agreement between Kosovars, Serbs and the UN on EULEX deployment can be reached by the end of the week.
French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner added: The UN system has been more or less accepted by the Serbs. It must be now accepted by Kosovars.The deployment of the EULEX police and civilian administration team in Kosovo has already suffered several delays, with the initial plan stating it should be finalised by the end of the year.
Europe to tackle Somali pirates but not Congo rebels

EU defence ministers on Monday launched the bloc's first naval security operation to fight pirates off the coast of Somalia starting December this year. But German and British opposition scuppered French calls to send EU troops to another African conflict zone - eastern Congo.Though a bit hesitant in the beginning, Great Britain will lead the anti-piracy operation, dubbed Atalanta, with a British vice-admiral in charge and the headquarters established in Northwood, near London, French defence minister Herve Morin said on Monday (10 November) after chairing the EU meeting.
Britain is a great maritime power. It is a nice symbol that this operation be commanded by a British officer and from a British headquarters. It is a good symbol of the evolution in European defence, and I would say, of its coming of age, he said.
Our participation in the Somalia project is an important one, said David Miliband, the British Foreign Secretary. This is obviously a very challenging project but one that European leaders are approaching with real humility as well as determination.

No troops to Congo
France failed to get the support from the 26 other member states for sending a 1,500-strong EU battlegroup to support the 17,000 UN troops in their efforts to stem the violence in eastern Congo, however.According to the International Herald Tribune, opposition from Germany and Great Britain blocked this French initiative.French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner said there was an urgent need for 3,000 more soldiers to reinforce the 17,000 UN troops in Congo. The humanitarian situation is extremely disastrous and its intolerable, he said.British foreign secretary David Miliband said the European Union should encourage the African Union to do more militarily while promoting a political solution. Pan-European aircraft fleet
After experiencing difficulties in supporting the humanitarian and peacekeeping missions such as the one in Chad, EU ministers agreed on Monday to build a pan-European military aircraft transport fleet, to be operational in the next decade.
Pooling European aircraft and services will improve the lift capabilities and alleviate a significant European shortfall, Alexander Weis, chief executive of the European Defence Agency told defence ministers on Monday, explaining that the initiative would pool both European and US aircraft and transporters.Depending on their capabilities, the countries will make aircraft available for use, purchase or exchange flying hours and pool resources for training and maintenance.
EU resumes Russia talks, isolating Lithuania

But Lithuania has refused to bless the move, describing it a mistake.The decision came after a pretty lively debate by EU foreign ministers on Monday (10 November), with Bernard Kouchner - speaking on behalf of France's EU presidency - saying that 26 out of 27 [EU members] is not so bad ...and enough. EU external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner added that it was in the union's objective interest to resume the EU-Russia negotiations. The existing treaty is outdated and needs to be modernised on issues such as energy security, she argued. Talks on a new strategic deal were put on ice on 1 September in response to Russian military retaliation over Georgia's crackdown on separatists in its breakaway region of South Ossetia. Russian troops were to withdraw to positions held before the short war to allow the resumption of EU talks.
Lithuania says Moscow has not lived up to the commitment, as its army operates in the Akhalgori district and the upper Kodori valley - zones inside the breakaway regions, but previously controlled by Georgian authorities. Russia now has 10,000 troops stationed in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, compared to 3,000 earlier.What has changed since 1 September? Why are we changing our own line on withdrawal of troops and the resumption of talks with Russia? Lithuanian deputy foreign minister Zygimantes Pavilionis told journalists after the ministerial meeting. 4,300-year-old pyramid discovered in Egypt NOV 11,08
SAQQARA, Egypt – Egypt's chief archaeologist has announced the discovery of a 4,300-year-old pyramid in Saqqara, the sprawling necropolis and burial site of the rulers of ancient Memphis.The pyramid is said to belong to Queen Sesheshet, the mother of King Teti who was the founder of the 6th Dynasty of Egypt's Old Kingdom.Egypt's antiquities chief Zahi Hawass made the announcement Tuesday at the site in Saqqara, about 12 miles south of Cairo.Hawass' team has been excavating the site for two years. He says the discovery was only made two months ago when it became clear that the 16-foot-tall structure uncovered from the sand was a pyramid.Hawass says the new pyramid is the 118th discovered so far in Egypt.

Communitarianist Ideology
The European Union is a major aspect of the New World Order and the so called sustainable development movement. The main objective of the Federal European State to be, is absolute social, personal and economic control in a collectivist and corporatist society. The philosophy behind the EU is a strange mixture of Capitalism and Communism - a form of Euro Marxism which owes much of its dogma to the Pre World War II Italian Marxist Philosopher, Antonio Gramsci.. The nearest ideology to that practiced by the EU is something called Communitarianism, or what Tony Blair called the Third Way. We are talking of a dialectical trap here, with Corporate money funding Socialism as Thesis, ideological Socialism as Antithesis and Communitarianism or the new imperium as Synthesis. Money grabs and concentrates power, whilst State Socialism promises the total redistribution of ownership and wealth. This contradiction provides an almost irresistible dynamic.Communitarians want to create a post-modern, post-democratic feudal society run by a small number of rich and powerful people with everyone else working as peasants. In order to achieve their objectives they must destroy the middle class and the nation state. Can anyone deny that their goals are firmly on course.One of the most mysterious aspects of the European Union from a lay-man's standpoint is the decision making process. Even with only the bare minimum of research, it becomes clear that we the people have little or no influence on any of the decisions reached in our name and the subsequent diktats which inevitably follow. In this article/essay, I will try and identify the ideology and aims of the key socio- economic decisions that drive the EU, and how because of these decisions, our lives are increasingly no longer our own.

Monetary Profit is to be the bottom line on everything from public services to defence to the very useful environmental Trojan Horse. High sounding non descriptions precede cleverly worded specifics that determine that the one and only benchmark be an economic one.The truth is of course that if the people of Europe themselves were to engage in setting the EU agenda, the current programme would almost without question be reversed. Instead of the Mammonistic ideal of profit before all, we would most certainly witness an agenda dominated by life quality issues like real un-politicised education for our children, and a healthcare service not tied to the pharmaceutical conglomerates, and free of political restraint, with a remit to provide the very best treatment available, whether it be of the traditional or alternative varieties.

The Methodology of Communitarianist Fascism
The EU project has up until recently been subtle in the extreme. Step by laborious step, one treaty after the other, they have hidden their true intentions behind an economic smokescreen, aided by a population who have abdicated responsibility for the decision making in their lives to liars, cheats and degenerates who whilst masquerading as elected representatives of the people, have conspired to disenfranchise them completely. Now, as we writhe and squirm amidst the worst economic crisis in living history, the Corporate plan for total control of the continent in the first instance, and the planet in the second, is nearing successful completion. What amazes this writer is that there are still those amateur researchers, who although far more informed than the average State/Media programmed resource still cannot understand that these are not chaotic times. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The project is completely on track and nearing it's conclusion. So arrogant are the Lord and Masters now, that even a minor detail such as the Irish Referendum NO vote does not deter their ambitions. So how were a relatively small cadre of conspirators able to achieve this astonishing level of supremacy over a population of almost 500 million people? Then when the time was right, NOW, they started calling in unpaid loans, manipulating prices, raising interest rates and destroying jobs and manufacturing production in the process. Then, with the people in fear for their existence, and terrified of what the future might bring, demanding naively that something be done, they come up with the solution they had planned all along; More centralisation of bank ownership. State and Corporate mergers through Government Buyout packages and the call for a uniform across the board single currency not only for Europe, but for the whole planet.When the dust settles, we will see that the middle classes have been so badly damaged, that their political and economic power base will be no more. This is how fiefdoms and servitude is established.The Corporate Media: Supplied with unlimited funds and control over the mass media, the New lords of money have been able to dictate what is given to the public by way of knowledge and information. Through television and radio, they use subliminal messaging technology to entrap and entice people into exchanging their identities as individual human souls for that of consumers. They manipulate all avenues of News reporting ensuring that the Third Way consensus is consolidated and maintained. The European Ideal is paramount and our children are indoctrinated into it by the most subtle and non subtle of means. Popular music and movies, loaded with trigger sounds and words have created a dumbing down effect across the continent which is matched and exceeded only in some respects by what can be found in the same media forum across the Atlantic. With a owned and controlled compliant press in tow, which simply repeats and enlarges upon the lies of the Six O'clock News from the evening before, it is little wonder that the vast majority's idea of reality is totally askew.
Politics: The Financial control and manipulation of politics along with the concerted undermining of private enterprise capitalism combined with a progressive programme of State (EU) interference in all aspects of private commerce, has all but destroyed this once proud and independent feature of the European way of life. The mystery of 21st century European politics is the little understood relationship between Monopoly Capitalism and Marxism. Two irrefutable facts of 20th century history, although not generally known, is that without huge financial support from the west, the Russian Revolution would not have happened, and that the Industrial and Military strength of the USSR was almost entirely a creation of the West. Inside the EU, precisely the same techniques and motives have been powerfully at work, undermining systematically the individual member state's private enterprise capitalist system, substituting in it's stead elements of pure Socialism and not surprisingly, the EU Commission can be seen to have been implementing in many ways Marx's own ten points, which are calculated to bring the whole Bloc under a Socialist Corporatist Imperium. Namely a Communitarian New European Order. The Canadian Professor and author, Henry Makow puts it this way, The Illuminati's revolutionary goal is the New World Order, or authoritarian socialism run by monopoly capital. It is big government in the service of big business. The Left in the service of the Right. Foreign Policy: The European Unionists see their project as a revival of Ancient Rome. A New European Order along the lines of The Roman Empire. A Pax Europa if you will. This vision of a Pan European Superpower has always been the endgame and disciples of this ideal have been growing in both support and popularity within the inner sanctum of the Commission over past few decades. The view is that only within the scenario of Superpower Europe will Greater Europe achieve its rightful world-power potential. Therefore it is rationalised that the final goal of a European state should be pursued. All central political competences (interior, foreign policy, defence, social and economic policies) must be Communitised. The EU, already developing in the direction of Superpower Europe, would always be capable of accepting new members . Thus it would be globally the only system which could continually expand its territory. Then the great political and economic power potential of the EU would achieve parity with the USA.It is necessary to understand that this emerging superbloc is only truly relevant in the context of any future World Government Organisation. A Superpower only in as much as it forms one regional supranational entity as would a North American Union, and an Asia Pacific Union, all subordinated to the World Government and Army.Culture: The subversion of national culture, including literature, art, music and the undermining of institutions and traditions, church, family and morality was a prerequisite to establishing the Communitarian Supranational State. Only by severing the people's roots to these aspects of national life could the conspiratorial goals be realised. Organ transplant surgeons encounter a problem called rejection, whereby the organ receiver's body, programmed by nature, rejects the new organ because it simply does not belong. Similarly, before a population can be expected to tolerate any new system of control, means must be found to reduce said populace to a condition of apathetic servitude. Winston Churchill showed his understanding of this when he wrote back in 1922 that there could be no World Government as envisaged by Marxists except on the basis of an induced state of universal arrested development. Since the end of WWII, the peoples of Europe along with the rest of humankind have been, through various means, reduced to exactly that state. This has been achieved via a diabolical program of culture distortion, using subversive genre's of popular music, ever more degrading and perverse forms of pornography, theatre and cinema themes which distort reality and show an inverted and corrupted ideal of all that is natural, moral and good, together with the encouragement of decadence in every possible form. Briefly put, the substitution of a people's own indigenous culture with forms of entertainment contrived to instil confusion on a mass scale, and paralyse the collective will at source. This undermining and subversion of the culture is openly promoted and encouraged by the media whores of the New Lords Of Money, with the most degraded, drug addicted so called artists being touted as role models for our youth.
Science: Science must be controlled and manipulated in order to prevent any obstruction being placed in the way of the Communitarians. For sake of necessity, there must be truth at least in some of the academic disciplines such as maths, physics, chemistry etc. These the money power need and must have for patently obvious reasons. But it cannot allow at any cost a truth or truths which at last gives pure knowledge to mankind and allows the useless eaters to liberate themselves from the millennia of deception they have been subjected to. Scientific truths about the heavenly bodies during the renaissance were nowhere near as suppressed as are the genuine products of scientific research today in all those fields of inquiry which cause man to explore his own self, such as anthropology, genetics, psychology and history. The persecution and defamation of those who refuse to accept and conform can be traced back time and again to the illegitimate money power, which in reality always decides who is appointed to a teaching post at a university and who is not. Whose work and research is published and whose is condemned to obscurity.
History: The falsification and suppression of history (especially recent history) goes hand in hand with the falsification and suppression of news. People will lose all confidence in the media if they discover that they have been lied to or denied the truth. This holds true whether we speak of events today, or fifty years since. Religion: There is no doubt in the mind of this writer that the most powerful source of resistance to the illegitimate power will be found in a people's religion. I will state quite clearly at this point that I myself am irreligious, and that is quite likely to be to my detriment in some ways. But I have, through recent close contact with Christians, Muslims and one Buddhist come to realise that through faith comes resilience, determination and strength. The central purpose of religion appears to be a means of giving to the individual a spiritual and intellectual base from which that individual can make relative all the stressors and influences he/she encounters and thereby secure a grounded sense of purpose, direction and belonging. Religion, whichever form it might take must forever be at the core of the culture, sustained by and sustaining the arts. Corruption of religion by powers whose intentions are anything other than religious will have the most destructive of consequences for society in general. Within the EU bloc and further afield,. the result of this corruption has been a secularization and politicisation of the Church along with the creation of the World Council of Churches. 1) Capitalism, meaning private ownership of property and resources and competitive free enterprise in the supply of goods and services.
2) Super-Capitalism, meaning a highly concentrated finance capitalism which is not only apart from capitalism, but it's antithesis and which sooner rather than later acquires the characteristic of being actively anti-capitalist.It is not possible to continue to concentrate ownership and control of property and resources without simultaneously reducing the number who own and control said property and resources. Similarly, there can be no concentration of Corporate Ownership and control, without a corresponding inhibition and suppression of free enterprise. What has happened within the European Union is a progressive degeneration of Capitalism into a form of Super Capitalism or what should be more properly termed Anti Capitalism which resembles Capitalism less and less and Socialism or Communism more and more. The bare minimum of bona fide capitalist values have been allowed to remain in order to confuse the picture and create difficulties for most people to identify that their traditional economic way of life has in fact been replaced by this new Money Concentration. Capitalism serves only as a means of camouflage for an all encompassing and omnipotent Anti Capitalism dominating both economics and politics. The modern Supercapitalist EU has more in common with the former Soviet Union than anyone not involved in this area of research would ever imagine to be the case. Yes, there are differences and opposing spheres of interest, but these become insignificant in comparison to what they have in common. Both are virulently antagonistic towards Nationalism and are therefore revolutionary in principal, setting themselves as they do in fierce opposition to Nationalist aspirations which are essentially evolutionary. Nationalism, a much maligned and misrepresented political credo is inseparably connected to a people's culture and traditions. This causes it to become the mortal enemy of the Supranationalists whose goal is the Superstate.
The reason that this Supercapitalism lives in eternal dread of Nationalism can be explained by examining the fundamental issue of whether there should in any state construct be an authority superior to economics. Which shall govern, politics or economics? Through ethical nationalism, in spite of it's inherited ailments, the will of the people is made vital, which causes politics to become the master over economics, which no matter how important it might be, is then relegated to it's morally natural subordinate status. Since there is no way that Communism, or more correctly in this the first decade of the 21st century, Communitarianism, can be resisted except by nationalism, it is of no surprise that the Supercapitalists have for the past fifty years and more been ruthlessly dedicated to destroying the nation state and severing from it the love and loyalty of the people.The Communitarians understand that their only weapon against Nationalism is Marxist theory, and that in itself marshals all the forces of the underworld along with the rootless academics using them as a siege gun against any or all nationalist targets (see the murder of Austrian Politician, Jorg Haider).
Conclusion: The European Federal State will usher in a new age of Feudalism for the people of the old continent. The technological advances in recent years have enabled the `designers and planners` to construct a Grid around people's lives, using insidious database technology combined with despicable propaganda and pernicious surveillance of all and every aspect of a citizens life. Yet still, we the people do nothing. There are reported to be around 50,000 concentration camps already in place earmarked for EU dissidents (http://www.rense.com/general81/conce.htm). The Military is still on the streets of Italy, and the Euro Gendarmerie is ready to be unleashed. During the 1930's, even though all the signs were there , people refused to recognise them. Are we going to once again fail to learn from our history. Jean Monnet, the so called founding father of the EU did everything but paint us a picture when he wrote Europe's nations should be guided towards the Superstate without their people understanding what is happening. The European Union is a major aspect of the New World Order and the so called sustainable development movement. The main objective of the Federal European State to be, is absolute social, personal and economic control in a collectivist and corporatist society. The philosophy behind the EU is a strange mixture of Capitalism and Communism - a form of Euro Marxism which owes much of its dogma to the Pre World War II Italian Marxist Philosopher, Antonio Gramsci.. The nearest ideology to that practiced by the EU is something called Communitarianism, or what Tony Blair called the Third Way. We are talking of a dialectical trap here, with Corporate money funding Socialism as Thesis, ideological Socialism as Antithesis and Communitarianism or the new imperium as Synthesis. Money grabs and concentrates power, whilst State Socialism promises the total redistribution of ownership and wealth. This contradiction provides an almost irresistible dynamic.Communitarians want to create a post-modern, post-democratic feudal society run by a small number of rich and powerful people with everyone else working as peasants. In order to achieve their objectives they must destroy the middle class and the nation state. Can anyone deny that their goals are firmly on course.One of the most mysterious aspects of the European Union from a lay-man's standpoint is the decision making process. Even with only the bare minimum of research, it becomes clear that we the people have little or no influence on any of the decisions reached in our name and the subsequent diktats which inevitably follow. In this article/essay, I will try and identify the ideology and aims of the key socio- economic decisions that drive the EU, and how because of these decisions, our lives are increasingly no longer our own.

The EU project has up until recently been subtle in the extreme. Step by laborious step, one treaty after the other, they have hidden their true intentions behind an economic smokescreen, aided by a population who have abdicated responsibility for the decision making in their lives to liars, cheats and degenerates who whilst masquerading as elected representatives of the people, have conspired to disenfranchise them completely. Now, as we writhe and squirm amidst the worst economic crisis in living history, the Corporate plan for total control of the continent in the first instance, and the planet in the second, is nearing successful completion. What amazes this writer is that there are still those amateur researchers, who although far more informed than the average State/Media programmed resource still cannot understand that these are not chaotic times. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. The project is completely on track and nearing it's conclusion. So arrogant are the Lord and Masters now, that even a minor detail such as the Irish Referendum NO vote does not deter their ambitions. So how were a relatively small cadre of conspirators able to achieve this astonishing level of supremacy over a population of almost 500 million people? A detailed dissection of this question is not feasible in an Essay of this kind, but an examination of the above diagram will help us understand the main instruments of control by which all the countries of Europe (even those outside of the bloc still incredulously clambering for membership) have handed over control to the European Federalists.The Centre : An illegitimate money power without any public mandate drawing it's strength from Usury, Monopoly Capitalism and the Industrial Military Complex.. The source of all great power in the 21st century and the 20th before it is money. And the root and base of this power is Usury, that is the issue of money as interest bearing debt. Since the 1980's, banks and lenders have seemingly been falling over themselves to lend money. Now as we try to ride out our present woes, we are told that money is scarce. Why is it scarce? Because the same people who were lending it so willingly are no longer doing so. They create money as figures on a screen in the form of loans. It is money out of thin air, backed by nothing other than the people's taxes, and a belief that it exists and that it has some worth. In this way, they have enticed millions of people to sign their freedoms away for the promise of a new home, car, kitchen or bathroom. Then when the time was right, NOW, they started calling in unpaid loans, manipulating prices, raising interest rates and destroying jobs and manufacturing production in the process. Then, with the people in fear for their existence, and terrified of what the future might bring, demanding naively that something be done, they come up with the solution they had planned all along; More centralisation of bank ownership. State and Corporate mergers through Government Buyout packages and the call for a uniform across the board single currency not only for Europe, but for the whole planet.When the dust settles, we will see that the middle classes have been so badly damaged, that their political and economic power base will be no more. This is how fiefdoms and servitude is established.The Corporate Media: Supplied with unlimited funds and control over the mass media, the New lords of money have been able to dictate what is given to the public by way of knowledge and information. Through television and radio, they use subliminal messaging technology to entrap and entice people into exchanging their identities as individual human souls for that of consumers. They manipulate all avenues of News reporting ensuring that the Third Way consensus is consolidated and maintained. The European Ideal is paramount and our children are indoctrinated into it by the most subtle and non subtle of means. Popular music and movies, loaded with trigger sounds and words have created a dumbing down effect across the continent which is matched and exceeded only in some respects by what can be found in the same media forum across the Atlantic. With a owned and controlled compliant press in tow, which simply repeats and enlarges upon the lies of the Six O'clock News from the evening before, it is little wonder that the vast majority's idea of reality is totally askew.
Politics: The Financial control and manipulation of politics along with the concerted undermining of private enterprise capitalism combined with a progressive programme of State (EU) interference in all aspects of private commerce, has all but destroyed this once proud and independent feature of the European way of life. The mystery of 21st century European politics is the little understood relationship between Monopoly Capitalism and Marxism. Two irrefutable facts of 20th century history, although not generally known, is that without huge financial support from the west, the Russian Revolution would not have happened, and that the Industrial and Military strength of the USSR was almost entirely a creation of the West. Inside the EU, precisely the same techniques and motives have been powerfully at work, undermining systematically the individual member state's private enterprise capitalist system, substituting in it's stead elements of pure Socialism and not surprisingly, the EU Commission can be seen to have been implementing in many ways Marx's own ten points, which are calculated to bring the whole Bloc under a Socialist Corporatist Imperium. Namely a Communitarian New European Order. The Canadian Professor and author, Henry Makow puts it this way, The Illuminati's revolutionary goal is the New World Order, or authoritarian socialism run by monopoly capital. It is big government in the service of big business. The Left in the service of the Right. Foreign Policy: The European Unionists see their project as a revival of Ancient Rome. A New European Order along the lines of The Roman Empire. A Pax Europa if you will. This vision of a Pan European Superpower has always been the endgame and disciples of this ideal have been growing in both support and popularity within the inner sanctum of the Commission over past few decades. The view is that only within the scenario of Superpower Europe will Greater Europe achieve its rightful world-power potential. Therefore it is rationalised that the final goal of a European state should be pursued. All central political competences (interior, foreign policy, defence, social and economic policies) must be Communitised. The EU, already developing in the direction of Superpower Europe, would always be capable of accepting new members . Thus it would be globally the only system which could continually expand its territory. Then the great political and economic power potential of the EU would achieve parity with the USA.It is necessary to understand that this emerging superbloc is only truly relevant in the context of any future World Government Organisation. A Superpower only in as much as it forms one regional supranational entity as would a North American Union, and an Asia Pacific Union, all subordinated to the World Government and Army.Culture: The subversion of national culture, including literature, art, music and the undermining of institutions and traditions, church, family and morality was a prerequisite to establishing the Communitarian Supranational State. Only by severing the people's roots to these aspects of national life could the conspiratorial goals be realised. Organ transplant surgeons encounter a problem called rejection, whereby the organ receiver's body, programmed by nature, rejects the new organ because it simply does not belong. Similarly, before a population can be expected to tolerate any new system of control, means must be found to reduce said populace to a condition of apathetic servitude. Winston Churchill showed his understanding of this when he wrote back in 1922 that there could be no World Government as envisaged by Marxists except on the basis of an induced state of universal arrested development. Since the end of WWII, the peoples of Europe along with the rest of humankind have been, through various means, reduced to exactly that state. This has been achieved via a diabolical program of culture distortion, using subversive genre's of popular music, ever more degrading and perverse forms of pornography, theatre and cinema themes which distort reality and show an inverted and corrupted ideal of all that is natural, moral and good, together with the encouragement of decadence in every possible form. Briefly put, the substitution of a people's own indigenous culture with forms of entertainment contrived to instil confusion on a mass scale, and paralyse the collective will at source. This undermining and subversion of the culture is openly promoted and encouraged by the media whores of the New Lords Of Money, with the most degraded, drug addicted so called artists being touted as role models for our youth.
Science: Science must be controlled and manipulated in order to prevent any obstruction being placed in the way of the Communitarians. For sake of necessity, there must be truth at least in some of the academic disciplines such as maths, physics, chemistry etc. These the money power need and must have for patently obvious reasons. But it cannot allow at any cost a truth or truths which at last gives pure knowledge to mankind and allows the useless eaters to liberate themselves from the millennia of deception they have been subjected to. Scientific truths about the heavenly bodies during the renaissance were nowhere near as suppressed as are the genuine products of scientific research today in all those fields of inquiry which cause man to explore his own self, such as anthropology, genetics, psychology and history. The persecution and defamation of those who refuse to accept and conform can be traced back time and again to the illegitimate money power, which in reality always decides who is appointed to a teaching post at a university and who is not. Whose work and research is published and whose is condemned to obscurity.
History: The falsification and suppression of history (especially recent history) goes hand in hand with the falsification and suppression of news. People will lose all confidence in the media if they discover that they have been lied to or denied the truth. This holds true whether we speak of events today, or fifty years since. Control of the study of history, especially of the past 100 years is exercised by a system of Intellectual Terrorism intended to suppress knowledge which will arm our minds against an enemy whose greatest power lies in it's capacity for deception. Agitation: The West has been crippled by a corrosive and corrupt ideology-morality that causes our political elite to declare themselves in sympathy with, and in support of the very elements that boldly proclaim their goal to be the destruction of the nation states of the west. Religion: There is no doubt in the mind of this writer that the most powerful source of resistance to the illegitimate power will be found in a people's religion. I will state quite clearly at this point that I myself am irreligious, and that is quite likely to be to my detriment in some ways. But I have, through recent close contact with Christians, Muslims and one Buddhist come to realise that through faith comes resilience, determination and strength. The central purpose of religion appears to be a means of giving to the individual a spiritual and intellectual base from which that individual can make relative all the stressors and influences he/she encounters and thereby secure a grounded sense of purpose, direction and belonging. Religion, whichever form it might take must forever be at the core of the culture, sustained by and sustaining the arts. Corruption of religion by powers whose intentions are anything other than religious will have the most destructive of consequences for society in general. Within the EU bloc and further afield,. the result of this corruption has been a secularization and politicisation of the Church along with the creation of the World Council of Churches. As the American Ezra Pound once said, There is no medieval description of hell which exceeds the inner filth of the mentalities of some of the ministers and prelates for whom every species of cruelty and villainy is condoned, even incited, if perpetrated under the banner of the universalist political objectives prescribed by the money power.The Communitarian Supercapitalist Nexus: The world is governed by very different persons to what is imagined by those who are not themselves behind the scene. The key word here is Capitalism. This oft used word actually has two very divergent meanings. In order to grasp why a Supranational would be Federal State such as the EU, representing ostensibly capitalist interests, would adopt social policies which are in almost every way imaginable Communist, we must first understand the two meanings of this word; Capitalist. Actually, we are speaking here of two words in affect;
1) Capitalism, meaning private ownership of property and resources and competitive free enterprise in the supply of goods and services.
2) Super-Capitalism, meaning a highly concentrated finance capitalism which is not only apart from capitalism, but it's antithesis and which sooner rather than later acquires the characteristic of being actively anti-capitalist.It is not possible to continue to concentrate ownership and control of property and resources without simultaneously reducing the number who own and control said property and resources. Similarly, there can be no concentration of Corporate Ownership and control, without a corresponding inhibition and suppression of free enterprise. What has happened within the European Union is a progressive degeneration of Capitalism into a form of Super Capitalism or what should be more properly termed Anti Capitalism which resembles Capitalism less and less and Socialism or Communism more and more. The bare minimum of bona fide capitalist values have been allowed to remain in order to confuse the picture and create difficulties for most people to identify that their traditional economic way of life has in fact been replaced by this new Money Concentration. Capitalism serves only as a means of camouflage for an all encompassing and omnipotent Anti Capitalism dominating both economics and politics. The modern Supercapitalist EU has more in common with the former Soviet Union than anyone not involved in this area of research would ever imagine to be the case. Yes, there are differences and opposing spheres of interest, but these become insignificant in comparison to what they have in common. Both are virulently antagonistic towards Nationalism and are therefore revolutionary in principal, setting themselves as they do in fierce opposition to Nationalist aspirations which are essentially evolutionary. Nationalism, a much maligned and misrepresented political credo is inseparably connected to a people's culture and traditions. This causes it to become the mortal enemy of the Supranationalists whose goal is the Superstate.
The reason that this Supercapitalism lives in eternal dread of Nationalism can be explained by examining the fundamental issue of whether there should in any state construct be an authority superior to economics. Which shall govern, politics or economics? Through ethical nationalism, in spite of it's inherited ailments, the will of the people is made vital, which causes politics to become the master over economics, which no matter how important it might be, is then relegated to it's morally natural subordinate status. Since there is no way that Communism, or more correctly in this the first decade of the 21st century, Communitarianism, can be resisted except by nationalism, it is of no surprise that the Supercapitalists have for the past fifty years and more been ruthlessly dedicated to destroying the nation state and severing from it the love and loyalty of the people.The Communitarians understand that their only weapon against Nationalism is Marxist theory, and that in itself marshals all the forces of the underworld along with the rootless academics using them as a siege gun against any or all nationalist targets (see the murder of Austrian Politician, Jorg Haider).
Conclusion: The European Federal State will usher in a new age of Feudalism for the people of the old continent. The technological advances in recent years have enabled the `designers and planners` to construct a Grid around people's lives, using insidious database technology combined with despicable propaganda and pernicious surveillance of all and every aspect of a citizens life. Yet still, we the people do nothing. There are reported to be around 50,000 concentration camps already in place earmarked for EU dissidents (http://www.rense.com/general81/conce.htm). The Military is still on the streets of Italy, and the Euro Gendarmerie is ready to be unleashed. During the 1930's, even though all the signs were there , people refused to recognise them. Are we going to once again fail to learn from our history. Jean Monnet, the so called founding father of the EU did everything but paint us a picture when he wrote Europe's nations should be guided towards the Superstate without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps, each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation. (Letter to a friend 30th April 1952).

The Matrix is a system, and that system is our enemy. When you are inside it, you look around and what do you see? Businessmen, Teachers, Lawyers, Carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are part of that system and that makes them our enemies. You have to understand that most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many are so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to defend it.
