GEOEYE SATELLITE IMAGERY TO EU

GeoEye to Supply European Commission with OrbView-3 High-Resolution Satellite Imagery
Imagery To Be Used To Monitor Crops To Support Subsidy Programs.

DULLES, Va., April 19, 2006 – GeoEye, the world’s largest satellite remote-sensing imaging company (OTCPK: ORBM), announced today its partner European Space Imaging (EUSI) received an additional contract from the European Commission to supply OrbView-3 high-resolution map-accurate imagery. The contract was awarded on April 5, 2006 and is valued at $2.15 million (EUR 1.8 million) over the next four years. The imagery will be collected by the company’s OrbView-3 high-resolution earth-imaging satellite. Together with its recently renewed three-year contract to supply imagery from GeoEye’s IKONOS high-resolution satellite, EUSI continues to be one of the largest suppliers of commercial satellite imagery to the European Commission.

The imagery will be processed and delivered to the European Commission by EUSI located in Munich, Germany. The contract requires GeoEye to begin imagery collections over 24 specific European sites to support the European Commission’s agricultural subsidy controls. The European Union is using satellite imagery as a tool to verify farmer’s declarations and claims for subsidies. In addition, the European Commission will use OrbView-3 imagery in support of national security related projects. The European Commission has been an excellent customer, and we are committed to continuing to meet all of their expectations,” said Adrian Zevenbergen, general manager for European Space Imaging. “For the past three years the European Commission has ranked GeoEye’s IKONOS satellite with a 98-100% performance success rate, so we are confident the OrbView-3 satellite will maintain this contract’s same demanding schedule and performance requirements.

“We are delighted that the European Commission has chosen to use imagery from the OrbView-3 satellite in support of agricultural subsidy controls as well as for security related projects. OrbView-3 has been used by several Asian countries as well as by the US Government’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for similar purposes. This contract will now give us
an opportunity to demonstrate this satellite’s capability and value to the European community,” said Timothy J. Puckorius, GeoEye’s senior vice president of International Sales. GeoEye is currently building its next-generation commercial satellite imaging system, GeoEye-1, which will have a ground resolution of .41-meter panchromatic and 1.65-meter multispectral. When launched in early 2007, this satellite will greatly increase our capacity to collect a large amount of data within a short timeframe, which is ideal for monitoring crop subsidy programs.

GOLD SILVER BUY UP

Well now people are starting to horde silver and gold like the Bible says would happen in the last days. But as we read in the scriptures the Gold and silver will become worthless in the future. It will not save people while the judgements from God are happenning on the whole Earth.

EZEKIEL 7:3-19
3 Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.
4 And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
5 Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.
6 An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.
7 The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.
8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.
9 And mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
10 Behold the day, behold, it is come: the morning is gone forth; the rod hath blossomed, pride hath budded.
11 Violence is risen up into a rod of wickedness: none of them shall remain, nor of their multitude, nor of any of theirs: neither shall there be wailing for them.
12 The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
13 For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision is touching the whole multitude thereof, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.
14 They have blown the trumpet, even to make all ready; but none goeth to the battle: for my wrath is upon all the multitude thereof.
15 The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.
16 But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.
17 All hands shall be feeble, and all knees shall be weak as water.
18 They shall also gird themselves with sackcloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads.
19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

JAMES 5:1-3
1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

It's a gold rushTAVIA GRANT
From Wednesday's Globe and Mail

Don Carlson has worked at Albern Coins & Foreign Exchange Ltd. in Calgary for more than a decade and, with the small exception of some pre-millennium panic buying, he's never seen so many customers carting off silver bars and gold coins. I've been in the business since 1991 and these are new highs for me, for both metals,” the general manager says. He's not the only one surprised by the growing appetite. In Ottawa, silver demand at the Royal Canadian Mint tripled in the first quarter. Kitco.com, a global gold dealer based in Montreal, has hired 10 new salespeople to take calls, while another distributor, based in B.C., is busy shipping coins across the country.

Rising geopolitical tensions and record oil prices are boosting the allure of precious metals, sending gold to its highest level since 1980 and silver to a 23-year high Tuesday. But it's not just exchange-traded funds or mining company shares that are popular. Canadians — and investors around the world — want the real, physical stuff. In Calgary, Mr. Carlson is seeing huge interest from middle-aged and older people who have cash on hand and want to park it in gold and silver. We're seeing a lot of new faces,” he said. “It's basically cash-and-carry. People like to have it in their hands.

Like other dealers, Mr. Carlson says silver demand is particularly strong. Sales of 100-ounce silver bars are surging and, at $1,692 a pop, many customers are buying several bars at a time. Clearly, silver prices that have already surged 58 per cent this year aren't deterring clients. Coins are also selling at a steady clip, he said. While Albertans may be the biggest buyers of gold and silver these days, interest is growing across the country. At the 98-year-old Royal Canadian Mint, investment demand for silver Maple Leaf coins more than tripled in the first quarter
while demand for one-to-10-ounce gold bars doubled, said David Madge, the Mint's executive director of bullion and refinery services. He expects silver sales this year will be the best in a decade.

You know commodities are hot when people are pawning their old gold and silver trinkets to the Mint. The Mint's recycling business, which buys old jewellery or silver flatware from individuals and turns them into coins and bars, has soared in recent months in lockstep with the run on commodities prices. Thus buyers of Canadian gold coins can't be certain whether they're derived from Aunt Bessie's wedding ring or come fresh from the mines. Kitco.com, the world's largest Internet-based bullion dealer, knows this better than most. It added about 10 salespeople to its
desk earlier this year to field floods of incoming calls.

Investor interest has soared for several reasons, said Jon Nadler, Kitco.com's investment products analyst. Demand in China and India is growing, while supply is dwindling. Worries about a decline in the U.S. dollar are mounting. Energy prices are soaring and tensions in Israel and Iran are rising. Those factors are prompting more people to see gold as a hedge in their portfolio, he said. It's very, very strong and across the board, and not just in Canada,” he said. “People are feeling more comfortable with holding gold than they had before.

In B.C., Martin Levy is managing director of the country's largest direct distributor of Maple Leaf coins. His company, Border Gold Corp., is seeing everyone from plumbers to bankers adding precious metals to their holdings. People in the trades, who have their own small companies, you see them buying and putting 5 to 10 per cent of their portfolio in gold,” he said. At the same time, “a lot of business people, with higher income, are putting high hundreds of thousands or even a million or two million into gold.

Gold prices soared $4.50 (U.S.) to reach a 25-year high Tuesday, closing at $623.30 an ounce, while silver jumped to $13.78 an ounce.

MANITOBA FLOODS JAVA VOLCANO

Volcanoes are happening during the tribulation period. as we read in Revelation 6:12-17

REVELATION 6:12-17
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Indonesian volcano spewing smoke, lava
By NINIEK KARMINIASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

MOUNT MERAPI, Indonesia -- The volcano that looms above his village is spewing smoke and lava, and scientists warn it could erupt anytime. But like many people farming the fertile slopes of Mount Merapi, Ismail says there is no need to panic.Merapi is part of my life, as it is all of our lives around here," he said Tuesday, as the 9,700-foot mountain rumbled in the background. "We know nature, and we are not worrying. Volcanologists watching Merapi, in the heart of densely populated Java island, disagree.

Aside from the visible signs of increased activity at its peak, sensors within the crater have detected a rise in seismic movement in recent weeks, and a major eruption is possible, they say.Authorities have been ordered to prepare for the possible evacuation of the thousands of people who live close to Merapi, which last erupted in 1992, sending out a searing cloud of gas that burned 60 people to death. About 1,300 people were killed when it erupted in 1930.

Mount Merapi lies about 18 miles from Yogyakarta, a city of 1 million people, More than 100 trucks are on standby to transport refugees, and emergency shelters have been prepared and stocked with food and medicine, Social Affairs Minister Bachtiar Chamsyah told reporters in Jakarta. Many people living around Merapi and the other 129 active volcanos in Indonesia - more than any other nation - believe that spirits watch over the peak and will warn
them when a major eruption is imminent.

Although most Indonesians are Muslim, many also follow animist beliefs and worship ancient spirits. Often at full moons, people trek to crater rims and throw in rice, jewelry and live animals to appease the volcanoes. If animals start coming down from the top then that is a sign for me to leave," said Ngadio, a rice farmer in a village on the dangerous western slopes of the volcano. "Hot clouds will always follow the animals' descent.

Sask. volunteers forced to stop sandbaggingUpdated Tue. Apr. 18 2006
7:21 AM ET CTV.ca News Staff

Dozens of volunteers on the Red Earth First Nation reserve in northeastern Saskatchewan have been told to stop sandbagging in the face of a relentlessly rising Carrot River. On Monday, the rising Carrot River submerged the road bisecting it, making it difficult for trucks carrying sandbags to get to the north side of town, where there are 80 homes and several other buildings.Phone and power lines on the Red Earth reserve were turned off. Boilers in the school and other public buildings were also shut down. Richard Kent, emergency co-ordinator for the Prince Albert Grand Council, said by late Monday afternoon eight homes on the reserve were flooded. Sandbagging continued at the south end of Red Earth, which is about 240 kilometres
northeast of Saskatoon.

Water levels in the Carrot River have surged to five times their normal volume, due to heavy rains last fall, deep snow over the winter and an early spring thaw. The flooding kept 1,000 residents of the reserve from their homes. They were forced to evacuate over the weekend due to rising water. There are about 370 evacuees in Prince Albert, and 442 are in Saskatoon,
mostly at the Field House. Glenna Chryderman, a Salvation Army volunteer, is one of dozens of volunteers trying to help the evacuees being housed at The Saskatoon Field House. Just to see those little children's faces, and the fact that these people have been uprooted. They have had to leave their homes. For me, I just think of how that would effect me and I think we have
to have some compassion," she told CTV Saskatoon.

Flooding in Manitoba

Flood-weary Manitobans are welcoming the latest weather outlook from Environment Canada, with meteorologists now forecasting 10 millimetres of rain in the Red River Valley Tuesday and Wednesday -- down from a previous forecast of up to 50 millimetres. Ten millimetres likely won't pose a problem in the flood zone around the province's Red River Valley. Provincial
officials also warned, however, that areas in western Manitoba now face the threat of flash floods in coming days as heavy rainfall heads toward that area. A flash-flood watch has been issued for the Riding and Duck mountain regions, with Environment Canada predicting as much as 70 millimetres of rain in that area beginning as early as Tuesday night.

There's some good news and some bad news," Alf Warkentin, Manitoba's chief flood forecaster, told reporters Monday afternoon. The good news is that the heavy rain for southeastern Manitoba and the Red River Valley is not going to happen. The bad news is that the heavy rain is going to happen in western Manitoba, areas west of Brandon and Dauphin. Environment Canada says most of the precipitation will travel along the Manitoba-Saskatchewan border and move north -- rather than hitting the southern part of Manitoba as was previously forecast.

Manitoba Premier Gary Doer said he is waiting to see what happens. I'm just going to wait and see and won't uncross my fingers until after the crests have left the Red River Valley," he said in Ste-Agathe after a tour of the affected areas. Meanwhile, there is little relief for the hardest-hit region around Morris, Man. -- about 60 kilometres south of Winnipeg -- where the Red River has crested.

Although Morris is surrounded by a dike, travelling in and out of the town has proved a challenge due to flooded roads. It's going to be a while . . . before levels fall," said Warkentin. "It's going to be a slow decline and the rain will serve to reduce that rate of decline on the Red River. So levels will remain very high and there will be access problems for probably another week or so or even longer."

Worst still to come in Romania and Bulgaria floods18.04.2006 - 09:51
CET By Andrew Rettman EU OBSERVER

Flooding in EU candidates Romania and Bulgaria is set to peak on Wednesday (19 April) and Thursday, local authorities predict, with the lower reaches of the river Danube staying abnormally swollen for up to a month. The Danube is currently flowing at 15,800 cubic metres a second - twice the usual for April and the heaviest since 1895 - inundating farmland and villages but with no casualties so far, press agecies say. Over 3,000 people fled the Romanian villages of Rast and Negoi after Dykes burst on Monday. Police also evacuated tourists from a hotel in the southern town of Calarasi.

About 100,000 hectares of Romanian farms and forests have been submerged, with authorities planning to channel water away from towns toward a further 26,000 hectares of open land. In Bulgaria, almost half of the industrial town of Nikopol has been flooded with problems also reported in Vidin, Fetesti, Ruse and Zabovanovo. The biggest worry now is the inflow of mosquitoes and the stink of sewage coming from the flooded houses," Nikopol civil defense head Georgi Linkov told Reuters. The floods first hit Serbia over the weekend after melting snows and spring rains in central Europe. Most of Belgrade has been kept safe by 250 km of dykes and barriers but the waterlogged defences are in danger of collapse.

The Serb towns of Ritopek, Veliko Gradiste and Smederevo have also tried to keep the river at bay with sandbags and basic equipment. The volunteers are tired. It's hard to keep up the tempo day after day," one Serbian official indicated. The water levels are higher than during the floods of 2005 and 2002, which killed dozens, but response units were better prepared this time around, BBC correspondents say.

AND IN THIS 2ND STORY, YES THERE WILL BE A QUAKE WARNING FOR CALIFORNIA, THEN A TSUNAMI WILL DO CALIFORNIA IN THIS TIME.

San Francisco faces big shaker (100 YEARS LATER) By Molly Bentley in San Francisco
The 1906 aftermath at 8:12 AM ON APRIL 18, 1906

Another magnitude 7.9 earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area would probably produce much stronger shaking than the catastrophic 1906 event of the same size. The wider region should also expect thousands of fatalities and economic losses in the billions. These conclusions are contained in two reports released to coincide with the 18 April centennial of the great quake that destroyed the city and killed 3,000 people. The studies will be discussed at a special conference this week. Scientists say the next big quake - a magnitude 6.7 or larger - will likely come within 30 years. The first study, When the Big One Strikes Again, was commissioned by conference organisers and provides an estimate range of the death and damage toll for Northern California if an earthquake similar to 1906 hit the region today. The city was shattered, and what remained then went up in flames.

The other study, produced by the US Geological Survey (USGS), shows how shaking intensity would change if the San Andreas Fault were to rupture in a different place to 1906. USGS scientists believe they have been able to reproduce the ground motion that occurred 100 years ago fairly accurately, making it a useful model to estimate the damage caused by the next big quake. These studies allow us to model the shaking and fill in the big gap in the data," said Dr Greg Beroza, a geophysicist at Stanford University who helped create the USGS simulation. "We can apply the results to other large earthquakes.

One of its shaking scenarios suggests that out of the 10 million residents in 19 counties, a 7.9 earthquake could kill 1,800 and seriously injure 8,000 if it hit at night; and kill 3,400 and seriously injure 13,000 if it hit during the day. Total economic losses could reach more than $120bn. Daytime casualties are typically higher than night-time, when people are in homes that are less susceptible to collapse than commercial buildings," said Dr Kircher. However, the proportion of night-time deaths is raised slightly in San Francisco itself, where older homes are more vulnerable to collapse. Roughly one quarter - 800 - daytime deaths and almost a third of night-time deaths- 574 - would be in SF city districts.

The estimates are based on death by building collapse by shaking alone; not by fire, which could raise the death toll. Of the city's 400,000 residents in 1906, it is estimated that 3,000 died from both building collapse and the conflagration that swept the city immediately afterwards. While it was unlikely a fire that size would rage again, smaller fires were very possible, said Dr Kircher. Soft storey" architecture often features an un-reinforced garage.

Preparing for the 'Big One

We expect fires to contribute significantly to the total loss," he added. Adding in the cost of damage due to fire and lifeline infrastructure - such as highways - could raise the economic bill to $150bn. And this does not include long-term economic impact, the sort experienced in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The total is 10 times the loss from the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, a 6.7 tremor on the San Andreas Fault centred in a mountainous region 100km (60 miles) to the south of San Francisco.

The second set, referred to as M7.9, is based on a standard model of energy propagation from an earthquake occurring on the segments of the fault that ruptured in 1906; a sort of generic 7.9 quake. Death and damage estimates are lower in the MMI model than in the M7.9; 800 night-time and 1,600 daytime deaths for the region, and $90bn dollars in economic loss. While the population has increased 10 fold since 1906, when less than a million people called the greater San Francisco Bay area home, the number of fatalities does not increase proportionally in the recent estimates. Our knowledge of earthquakes and how they affect buildings have advanced quite a bit and our seismic codes have been advancing," said Dr Beroza, "but we're still talking about thousands of deaths. Will the public say that's acceptable?

Dr Kircher said that an important finding of the study was that vulnerable buildings - un-reinforced masonry, older reinforced concrete and "soft-storey" - made up less than 5% of all buildings in the region but would kill more than half the people. Fixing those buildings would cut our casualties in half," said Dr Kircher.

Moveable epicentre

The second USGS study to be presented to the conference offers scientists a re-creation of the 1906 shaking, and a how it might change if the fault ruptured other than where it did, 2km off the coast of San Francisco. The computer model draws on a new and highly detailed 3D geologic model of the Bay Area. While scientists do not know when the next big quake will come or where it will originate, they do say that a 7.9 quake is unlikely to mirror 1906. There is no guarantee that the next big one will begin exactly where the last big one began," said Dr Beroza. "It will be different and may not start in the same place." In the USGS simulations, a rupture at the northern end of the San Andreas Fault, with the same amount of slip, creates the same or greater shaking for San Francisco as it did in 1906; while an epicentre at the southern end of the northern portion of the fault, near San Juan Batista, creates considerably stronger shaking for the city.

This is due to variations in local geology and the fact that the energy from the rupture and seismic waves increase as they propagate toward the city. Things could be worse for San Francisco itself with a rupture that begins south of the city, than it was in 1906 when the rupture began very close to it," said Brad Aagaard, a USGS research geophysicist who ran the simulations. This, ironically, makes the original 1906 quake, with its epicentre near the city, a best-case scenario for San Francisco if a 7.9 earthquake were to hit again. But increased shaking in one area means less shaking somewhere else. Moving the epicentre to San Juan Batista produces more intense shaking for San Francisco, but milder shaking in the Silicon Valley region. The bottom line is that the next large event on the San Andreas Fault will differ in some ways from the 1906 earthquake, said Dr Aagaard. "We need to consider many scenarios in order to be prepared for such an event.

The 100th Anniversary Earthquake Conference continues through to 21 April in San Francisco.

POPES EASTER MESSAGE

Pope's Easter message calls for nuclear diplomacy17 April 2006

VATICAN CITY: In his first Easter message, Pope Benedict called for an "honourable solution" to the nuclear standoff with Iran, a truly independent Palestinian state, and global cooperation to combat terrorism.

The Pope, speaking on his 79th birthday, made his appeal for world peace in his Easter "Urbi et Orbi" (to the city and the world) message to nearly 100,000 people as he concluded the first Easter season of his pontificate. The Pope, who marks the first anniversary of his election on Wednesday, led a joyful Easter mass in a sunny St Peter's Square on the most important day of the Christian liturgical calendar, when the faithful celebrate Christ's resurrection from the dead.
In the speech, televised to millions of viewers in more than 65 countries at the end of Easter Sunday mass in the square, he listed his worries about problems facing the world, particularly in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Concerning the international crises linked to nuclear power, may an honourable solution be found for all parties, through serious and honest negotiations" he said in a clear reference to Iran, which announced last week it had become a nuclear power by enriching uranium.

The United States wants targeted sanctions on Iran that include a freeze on assets and visa restrictions. In another part of the speech, the Pope defended Israel's right to exist, a passage which appeared to be an indirect criticism of statements by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that the Jewish state should be eliminated. But he also called firmly for the establishment of a Palestinian state. May the international community, which re-affirms Israel's just right to exist in peace, assist the Palestinian people to overcome the precarious conditions in which they live and to build their future, moving towards the constitution of a state that is truly their own," he said in the part of his address dedicated to peace in the Middle East.
In other parts of the "Urbi et Orbi" address, the Pope expressed his concern over terrorism, as he has already done several times since his election on April 19, 2005 to succeed the late Pope John Paul. May the leaders of nations and of international organisations be strengthened in their will to achieve peaceful coexistence among different races, cultures and religions, in order to remove the threat of terrorism," he said. Mentioning Iraq, he prayed "may peace finally prevail over the tragic violence that continues mercilessly to claim victims.

The Pope also prayed that the spirit of the risen Christ bring relief and security to Africa, particularly the people of Darfur in western Sudan, who he said were "living in a dramatic humanitarian situation that is no longer sustainable. Chad broke diplomatic ties with neighbouring Sudan on Friday and warned that it might stop sheltering thousands of Sudanese refugees who have crossed the border to escape an ethnic conflict in the Darfur region.
This is the first Easter for the 1.1 billion member Roman Catholic Church since the death of Pope John Paul, who was in his final days a year ago and was only able to make brief appearances in the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday.

CANADA USA CHINA FLOODED

Manitoba flooded, Indiana hail storms and destruction in China, Columbia also hit with landslides and storms.

Rising river forces evacuation of reserve with 1,100 people in northern Sask.

JULIA NECHEFF Fri Apr 14, 7:30 PM ET (CP) - Residents in parts of Manitoba and Saskatchewan were coping with major flooding at the start of the Easter long weekend as heavy spring runoff swelled several rivers. Wide swaths of farmland along the Red River in southern Manitoba were under water on Good Friday. In northeastern Saskatchewan, the Red Earth First Nation hustled to get out of the way of the threatening Carrot River as leaders ordered a general evacuation of the band of 1,100. Band and provincial officials, and volunteers from another reserve in the area, evacuated the most vulnerable residents first. Between 250 to 300 people - the elderly, mothers and babies, and pregnant women - were loaded onto buses and sent to stay in Prince Albert.

Chief Miller Nawakayas said remaining residents were to be moved out first thing Saturday morning and would be going to Saskatoon. About 100 homes along the Carrot are in danger of being flooded when the river crests, likely on Saturday, the chief said. The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, they're predicting (flooding) as early as Saturday during the day and it
could continue on until Wednesday next week," Nawakayas said. The chief said an ice jam was complicating the problem. When he went to check the river Friday morning, the water level was only about a third of a metre from the top of the bank. In Manitoba, dikes were protecting towns along the Red River but many farms were already under water and accessible only
by boat. The Red crested at Emerson on the U.S. border on Friday morning, carrying runoff from North Dakota. Wind fanned rippling waves on what should have been fields. Federal and provincial politicians took a helicopter tour to get a bird's-eye view of the flooded valley.

In some places the river was up to 15 kilometres wide and covered more than 40,000 hectares of farmland. Part of federal Justice Minister Vic Toews' riding is submerged. The Conservative cabinet minister joined Manitoba Premier Gary Doer, Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz and local civic officials for the tour. They said the flood of 2006, while bad, is not as devastating as Manitoba's flood of the century nine years ago. Certainly the extent of the flooding is not like it was in 1997 when both the premier and I flew over this area," Toews said."I'm very confident that the provincial municipal officials working together with the federal officials have got it in hand. I'm quite pleased to see the progress that has been made," he said. Katz said the Red is expected to crest in Winnipeg on April 20, but he thinks the city will be OK if Mother Nature co-operates.

He said his heart went out to his fellow Manitobans. A lot of us are not experiencing what they're going through but I'll tell you what after having the opportunity to see what's going on in southern Manitoba, coming from Winnipeg you have to feel relatively lucky right now and thank God for the floodway," the mayor said. While the politicians were sounding upbeat, Manitoba chief flood forecaster was issuing an ominous warning of storm clouds on the horizon. A major weather system is developing that could bring heavy precipitation to southern Manitoba on Monday and Tuesday, Alf Warkentin said. It does appear at this time that it could produce a significant amount of rainfall and it certainly has the potential to alter the flood situation quite significantly," he said. Areas that have crested could crest again, possibly at higher levels, so this is something we'll have to watching very, very closely." Warkentin said he's also keeping an eye on Saskatchewan.

The Carrot River, which is causing so much havoc on the Red Earth reserve, threatens The Pas in northwestern Manitoba and rural homes along the river, he said. Peak flows on the Red Deer River will eventually move into Manitoba as well.

Storms in China kill 21, destroy thousands of homes Fri Apr 14, 11:10 PM ET BEIJING

(AP) - Torrential rains in central and eastern China have killed 21 people and destroyed thousands of houses, the government said Saturday. Storms in the central province Hubei killed 11 people and forced 37,000 to flee their homes, China's Xinhua News Agency said, citing local civil affairs authorities. It said 11,000 houses were destroyed. In Jiangxi province in the east, rains killed 10 people and caused the equivalent of more than $100 million Cdn in damage, the
government said. Local authorities in both areas were distributing tents and bedding, Xinhua said. It said the central government has dispatched teams with more aid to the regions.

Tornadoes rip through eastern Iowa, killing 1 and damaging university

Fri Apr 14, 8:32 PM ET IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Tornadoes tore across the University of Iowa campus, ripped walls off a downtown church and killed a woman in a trailer outside of town. The U.S.National Weather Service said five tornados touched down in Johnson County on Thursday night, the most destructive carving a five-kilometre path of damage through downtown and the university. High winds, hail and at least one tornado hit Illinois as well. There was debris flying everywhere inside the house," said Melissa Fortman, an Iowa sophomore who huddled with friends in the basement of the Alpha Chi Omega house as sirens sounded.

She then decided to run upstairs for her homework just as the tornado hit. I couldn't go downstairs because there was debris and glass flying up the stairs, so I just hid in a telephone booth we have in our house and I just hid there crying," she said. Entire walls of the sorority house were gone and the interior of several rooms were visible from the street. Two cars had been tossed into a nearby ravine and glass, debris and tree limbs littered the neighbourhood. The twisters swept across eastern Iowa, with the worst damage from Iowa City southeast through Nichols, about 30 kilometres away, the National Weather Service said. We have a path in the Nichols area that's four to five miles long," said Maj. Dave White of the Muscatine County sheriff's office. He said the tornado hit farms and a trailer with a man and woman inside.

It blew it off the foundation and the trailer rolled and basically disintegrated," White said. The woman, whose identity was not released, died in the storm. Gov. Tom Vilsack declared a state of emergency for Johnson, Jones and Muscatine counties. In Iowa City, 30 people were reported treated at hospitals for storm-related injuries. Downtown, one-half the roof of St. Patrick's
Roman Catholic church was torn off. Store windows were shattered, some buildings were partially collapsed and homes and apartments were heavily damaged. Thousands of homes in Iowa and Illinois were without power but utility officials said it was expected to be restored by midday Saturday.

Illinois was hit by high winds and hail and the weather service confirmed one tornado touched down in Lincoln early Friday morning. We had lot of hail with this whole system, from Galesburg southeast to Champaign and Vermilion counties," said Chris Geelhart, a weather service meteorologist based in Lincoln. Some of it did get up to the size of baseballs."

IRAN ISRAEL A DEAD TREE

Well in these 2 stories we see Iran still wanting to destroy Israel and in the 2ND story Russia gives hamas money. Just like the Bible Says in Ezekiel 38+39 The Russians lead this Muslim horde against Israel in the future.

Iran President Again Lashes Out at Israel By ALI AKBAR DAREINI,
Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 57 minutes ago

TEHRAN, Iran - The president of Iran again lashed out at Israel on Friday and said it was "heading toward annihilation," just days after Tehran raised fears about its nuclear activities by saying it successfully enriched uranium for the first time. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Israel a "permanent threat" to the Middle East that will "soon" be liberated. He also appeared to again question whether the Holocaust really happened.Like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihilation," Ahmadinejad said at the opening of a conference in support of the Palestinians. "The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm.

Ahmadinejad provoked a world outcry in October when he said Israel should be "wiped off the map. On Friday, he repeated his previous line on the Holocaust, saying: "If such a disaster is true, why should the people of this region pay the price? Why does the Palestinian nation have to be suppressed and have its land occupied?" The land of Palestine, he said, referring to the British mandated territory that includes all of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, "will be freed soon. He did not say how this would be achieved, but insisted to the audience of at least 900 people: "Believe that Palestine will be freed soon.

"The existence of this (Israeli) regime is a permanent threat" to the Middle East, he added. "Its existence has harmed the dignity of Islamic nations. The three-day conference on Palestine is being attended by officials of Hamas, the ruling party in the Palestinian territories. Iran has previously said it will give money to the Palestinian Authority to make up for the withdrawal of donations by Western nations who object to Hamas' refusal to recognize Israel and renounce violence. But no figure has been published. On Tuesday, Ahmadinejad announced that Iran had successfully enriched uranium using a battery of 164 centrifuges, a significant step toward the large-scale production of enriched uranium required for either fueling nuclear reactors or making nuclear weapons.

The United States, France and Israel accuse Iran of using a civilian nuclear program to secretly build a weapon. Iran denies this, saying its program is confined to generating electricity. The U.N. Security Council has given Iran until April 28 to cease enrichment. But Iran has rejected the demand. The chief of Israeli military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, was quoted Wednesday as saying Iran could develop a nuclear bomb "within three years, by the end of the decade.

Russia breaks from West with Hamas aid offer By Vera Kalian Sat Apr 15, 6:22 AM ET MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Saturday it had promised emergency aid to the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority, breaking with fellow mediators the EU and Washington which have stopped funding to try to force Hamas to recognize Israel. A Foreign Ministry statement said the offer came in a telephone conversation on Friday between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.Mahmoud Abbas highly appreciated the intention of Russia, confirmed by Lavrov, to grant the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority urgent financial aid in the nearest time," it said.

Russia is a member of the quartet of Middle East mediators searching for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, along with the United Nations, the EU and the United States. The United States and the European Union have halted direct aid to the Palestinian Authority because it has not renounced violence, recognized Israel or agreed to abide by interim peace deals.Washington has barred American citizens and organizations from most business dealings with the Palestinian Authority.Israel has also blocked the transfer of customs and tax receipts.Larvov had earlier criticized the halting of aid, though he has urged Hamas to meet the demands of international mediators.

He said the only way to make Hamas meet international demands was to work with it, not boycott it. It was wrong to deny aid to the Palestinians "purely because in democratic elections they elected a government made up entirely out of Hamas members ... we are convinced that this approach is mistaken," he was quoted as saying last Tuesday. Russia is the only major power to have received Hamas on an official visit since its landslide win in Palestinian parliamentary elections in January. Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said on Friday the "unholy alliance" led by the United States would not bring down the new Hamas government and warned of grave consequences if it did.

WORLD QUAKES IN LAST 7 DAYS

There was major quakes in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus and when he returns the greatest quake in hsitory occurs. So all kinds of quakes should not be new to us. All major prophecies deal with Earthquakes.

1 KINGS 19:11-12
11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

ISAIAH 29:6-7
6 Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.
7 And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

EZEKIEL 38:19
19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

AMOS 1:11
11 The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

ZECHARIAH 14:1-5
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (THIS IS JESUS OUR GOD RETURNING BODILY TO EARTH)

MATTHEW 24:7-8
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

MATTHEW 27:46-54
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

MATTHEW 28:1-7
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

MARK 13:8
8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

LUKE 21:11
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

ACTS 16:26-27
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

REVELATION 6:12-17
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

REVELATION 8:5
5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

REVELATION 11:13-19
13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God,
17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

REVELATION 16:16-21
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.

JESUS DEATH AND RESURRECTION

PASSOVER OR EASTER IS THE TIME WHEN JESUS OUR GOD SACRIFICED HIMSELF SO THAT ALL MEN ON EARTH COULD BE SAVED. WE PRAISE THE GOD OF ISRAEL AND THE WORLD FOR DYING FOR US AND COMING BACK TO LIFE THAT WE MAY LIVE WITH HIM FOREVER ON EARTH. FOREVER MEANS FOREVER.

AND WE PRAY COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS OUR KING AND SAVIOR.

MATTHEW CHAPTERS 26-28 JESUS DEATH AND RESURRECTION.

MATTHEW 26:1-75
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
2 Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.
5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.
6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,
15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?
23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.
25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
51 And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.
52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
58 But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest’s palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
59 Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

MATTHEW 27:1-66
1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.
8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.
9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;
10 And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.
11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
15 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
36 And sitting down they watched him there;
37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:
56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children.
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.
66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

MATTHEW 28:1-20
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

SERBIA BRACED FOR RECORD FLOODS

Serbia braced for record floods Matt Prodger BBC News, Belgrade

The army has been called in to help with the effort Serbia is bracing itself for the highest river levels in 25 years as flood waters from central Europe make their way south. The situation is at its worst in the northern province of Vojvodina, near Hungary, where flooding has driven hundreds of people from their homes.

For days soldiers and civilians have been battling a natural enemy. In northern Serbia they have been building barricades of sand bags to keep the ever rising waters at bay. The rivers have been swelling to a peak which has yet to come. The Danube, the Sava, the Tisa, the Tamis and their tributaries have all flooded.

It is the same water that last week ravaged parts of Hungary, Germany, Austria and the Czech republic. The areas around Serbia's second largest city Novi Sad are particularly vulnerable, but low lying parts of the capital, Belgrade, have also been hit.

It is not just the human cost of flooded homes that is a worry, there is an environmental concern as well. Sewage and industrial pollution may be washed back into the rivers when the waters fall.

Scores of Belgrade's popular riverside bars and restaurants have already closed and they will remain so for some time. More rain is forecast.

INDONESIA VOLCANO READY TO ERUPT

Indonesia boosts alert level at huge volcano, fearing eruption Wed Apr 12, 10:42 PM
ET JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP)

Indonesia raised the alert status of a massive volcano on Java Island to the second-highest level, warning increased activity at its crater means it could erupt anytime, volcanologists said Thursday. Monitors have been watching Merapi closely for several weeks and late Wednesday raised its status to "Beware," one notch below the highest level that requires immediate evacuation of villagers living on its slopes.

"An eruption could happen at any time," said Heru Suparogo, from a monitoring station overlooking the crater of the 2,968-metre mountain.

Passover Goes High-Tech in Israel By LAURIE COPANS, Associated Press Writer
Wed Apr 12, 3:02 PM ET JERUSALEM

With the Palestinian territories sealed off and armed guards posted at synagogues, Jews gathered Wednesday for the ritual Passover meal that commemorates the flight of the ancient Israelites from bondage in Egypt. During the weeklong Passover holiday, observant Jews eat matzo — unleavened bread — to illustrate how the Israelites had no time to let their bread rise as they fled.

Israeli security forces were put on high alert for the duration of the holiday, with some 13,000 troops deployed across the country to prevent possible attacks by Palestinian militants. Security forces have received more than 80 warnings about planned attacks, somewhat higher than the usual level, media reported. The police commissioner, Moshe Karadi, said each synagogue would have at least one armed guard, and police would be posted at hotels where many Israelis were attending Passover meals after sundown Wednesday.

Four years ago, a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 29 Israelis at a ritual Passover dinner in a hotel in the coastal town of Netanya. In the Gaza Strip, two armed Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire Wednesday as they tried to infiltrate Israel. A violent group, the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, an offshoot of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party, said the
two had been on a mission to attack Israel, but did not elaborate. The army said the two were seen by troops who fired at tank shell toward them, followed by missiles from aircraft.

The Israeli military also enforced a blanket closure of the West Bank and Gaza, barring all Palestinians from entering Israel. For Israelis, Passover is a time of travel and family get-togethers. More than 800,000 Israelis, or more than one-tenth of the population, were expected to travel abroad in the coming week, Israel TV said. Many of those staying in the country planned to attend festivals or take short trips.

In the preparations for Passover, religious Jews scoured their homes and rid their pantries of forbidden food items. Smoke wafted through the air of Jerusalem and other towns across the country Wednesday morning as people burned bread and other leavened foods in communal bonfires. Piles of charred bread were still smoldering in Jerusalem's Makor Baruch
neighborhood in the early afternoon.

The Internet offered a wide variety of sites for those who put a premium on convenience when carrying out the ceremonial custom of "selling" nonperishable forbidden food to a non-Jew, for "repurchase" after the holiday. Faxing sale transaction requests through a religious intermediary was another option. The government took the low-tech route. Israel's chief rabbis, in keeping with state tradition, sold the country's leavened foods to an Israeli Arab from a suburban Jerusalem town Tuesday for a $4,350 down payment.

The man will sell the food back to the state after the holiday ends, and the buyer will have his money reimbursed. Ahead of the holiday, media reported heavily on the growing poverty in Israel, and soup kitchens and not-for-profit groups were busy Wednesday handing out the last of holiday meals to tens of thousands of destitute Israelis.

Israel's economy grew more than 5 percent in 2005, but many of Israel's disadvantaged, hurt by deep cuts in the government's social spending, didn't feel the upturn.
