SCANABLE BARCODE ON YOUR SKIN

Scannable Barcode Tattoos 01:28 PM-The barcode tattoo as a statement against society rivaled the popularity of misinterpreted Kanji in the nineties, but one artist is bringing it back as a way to connect people's online lives with their fleshy ones. Or at least offer another way to market your blog. And ya know, I don't think it's such a bad idea.Tattoo artist Levi Smith of The Jade Monkey Tattoo in Phoenix, Arizona has been tattooing quick response code [QR code] -- which is similar to a barcode -- on eager clients. The codes can then be scanned by smartphones (there's an app for that) and lead to your website, Facebook page or eHarmony dating profile. The possibilities are vast.

REVELATION 13:16-18
16 And he(FALSE POPE) causeth all,(WORLD SOCIALISM) both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:(CHIP IMPLANT)
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.(6-6-6) A NUMBER SYSTEM

QR codeFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_Code

QR Code for the URL of the English Wikipedia Mobile main page. Note that the white border is part of the encoding.A QR code (short for Quick Response) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. QR is the abbreviation for Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.[1]The technology has seen a large uptake in Japan and South Korea. However, in the west there has been a considerably slower adoption of QR Codes.[2]

[edit] OverviewAlthough initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing, QR codes are now used in a much broader context, including both commercial tracking applications and convenience-oriented applications aimed at mobile phone users (known as mobile tagging). QR codes can be used to display text to the user, to add a vCard contact to the user's device, to open a URI or to compose an email or text message. Users can also generate and print their own QR codes for others to scan and use by visiting one of several free QR code generating sites.QR codes storing addresses and URLs may appear in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards, or on just about any object about which users might need information. Users with a camera phone equipped with the correct reader application can scan the image of the QR Code to display text, contact information, connect to a wireless network, or open a web page in the phone's browser. This act of linking from physical world objects is known as a hardlink or physical world hyperlinks.Google's mobile Android operating system supports QR codes by natively including the barcode scanner (ZXing) on some models, and the browser supports URI redirection, which allows QR Codes to send metadata to existing applications on the device. Nokia's Symbian operating system is also provided with a barcode scanner, which is able to read QR codes,[3] while mbarcode [4] is a QR code reader for the Maemo operating system. In the Apple iOS, a QR code reader is not natively included, but over 50 free Apps are available with reader and metadata browser URI redirection capability.

[edit] StandardsThere are several standards documents covering the physical encoding of QR codes:[5]

October 1997 — AIM (Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility) International[6]
January 1999 — JIS X 0510
June 2000 — ISO/IEC 18004:2000 Information technology — Automatic identification and data capture techniques — Bar code symbology — QR Code (now withdrawn)
Defines QR Code Model 1 and QR Code Model 2 symbols.
September 1, 2006 — ISO/IEC 18004:2006 Information technology — Automatic identification and data capture techniques — QR Code 2005 bar code symbology specification
Defines QR Code 2005 symbols, an extension of QR Code Model 2. Does not specify how to read QR Code Model 1 symbols, or require this for compliance.
At the application layer, there is some variation between implementations. NTT DoCoMo has established de facto standards for the encoding of URLs, contact information, and several other data types.[7] The open-source ZXing project maintains a list of QR code data types.

QR the daily double Monday, March 21, 2011 - by Carol Hodes

Two things may have escaped you -- this week marks the fifth anniversary of the debut of Twitter and we should be QR Code savvy.

By now even some of us who are dinosaurs know about Twitter and may even Tweet. But the QR Code -- short for Quick Response Code -- is the square pattern on a white background that is now showing up on merchandise and in advertising. It is embedded with information, much like a UPC or bar code. When read with a barcode scanner, the QR Code can launch websites, files, photos, videos and music.Although QR Codes have been around for 17 years, they are only now surfacing in more places because of the explosion of smartphones.Droids, iPhones, BlackBerries and others are equipped with apps to scan QR Codes and launch their information. Since smartphones now significantly outsell traditional cell phones, the QR Code, though not new, has far more utility than it did even a few months ago. These codes, which were introduced by a Toyota subsidiary in 1994, are commonplace in Japan and appear in magazines, billboards, business cards, windows, apparel and more. Even McDonalds uses the QR Code on the burger wrappers, directing consumers to a page with the burger’s nutritional information.

Why not horse racing, too?

Horse racing should look into how it could apply the latest technology and make it easier to research a horse and make wagers.Maybe those folks with dial phones and VCRs will not make the leap to the latest and greatest options, but the constant lament is that racing is not attracting young gamblers.Well, if we want the gamers to find their way to gambling, we need to be cutting edge. We need to be able to adapt our product -- not the racing itself but how we present the racing product and the data that supports it.Programs are basically passé. When you can use a QR Code or similar device to bring up the data and videos of past races, the smartphone, tablet (such as the iPad) or laptop becomes an unlimited source of information, formatted to suit the user.No need to fret over simplifying program lines -- that can be an option that the person holding the device may select.Choose to watch head-on stretch runs of previous races, and you can do so on your iPad.Prefer your past performance information in the form of a bar graph? That can be an option as well.

As much as we sometimes fear technology, it is time for horse racing to embrace it.
Maybe instead of tattooing an identifying number on our racehorses, we give each of them a QR Code. And as they jog by you can snag the code with your BlackBerry and pull up career stats. The options are only limited by our imaginations -- and our abilities to adjust and keep up as quickly as the technology changes.Editor's Note: The views contained in this column are that of the author alone, and do not necessarily represent the opinions or views of the United States Trotting Association.
